Hey, Julian says here.

Welcome to another exciting
episode of Paddles Smash Academy.

Today we are with In Invest or
the visionaries, a company that

is being over a hundred years old.

Loose attendance coming from all
the way from Portugal, putting the

flag here in the United States for
the best top canopies in the world.

Welcome guys.

Hello guys.

What are you?

Alright.

You guys are from Portugal, right?

Well, let me, let me
say something, Manuel.

I love your glasses.

I mean, they look so sexy.

I mean, they're just
beautiful, beautiful glasses.

You, you have

better sneakers.

They sneakers.

Very stylish guys.

Yeah, definitely for Port, for sure.

Love your glasses.

A hundred percent yours too.

Look at that.

Thank you.

You know, Portuguese people are very

stylish.

Yeah.

You could say that.

So you're definitely not fortunate.

Wanna bete?

So let's start with this.

I mean, uh, we found out about
you guys in, in rack X. Yeah.

Uh, and then we were, we were like,
wow, what all these guys are doing.

No.

Great guys, young guys.

Good.

Good energy.

You know, we talked to them,
you know, we interviewed them.

I mean, they had great products.

Yes.

I was like, man, this is canopies.

This is something we need here in the USA.

Yeah.

But most importantly, you guys just set up
one at reserve in New York City, correct?

Yeah.

So tell us a little bit that story,
because I mean, we're here at Reserve

Somia, uh, we knew that Reserve in Hudson
Bay, in New York City needed something.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And when we saw that video.

Said, oh my god, these guys did it.

Incredible.

So tell us about that story.

Uh, so that, uh, thank you so much for
having us and of course, guys, always

a pleasure to, to be around you guys.

Not only eating, having dinner,
but also Yeah, we need to

Great guys, great guys here.

You know, we need to put some work also.

Good.

Better pleasure.

Thank you so much.

Um, so, uh, that project we did
in, in partnership with, with

another company that, uh, we are,
we are, they're very proud of

also, they are also developing the.

Their brand here and
installing cords here.

It's a, it's a brand that
it's, it's, it's, um.

A court fabric and they assemble the
court, they give all the maintenance.

Uh, we work with them a lot, not
only here in United States, but also,

um, around the world a little bit.

And yeah, they were the, the one
that, that pushed us a little bit

here too, to the United States.

I love it.

I love it.

It, we did it in a, in a, in a very nice
way with, with very good people behind it.

I love it.

Also props to, to those guys that, that,
uh, trust our, our product and our our

way of work, um, from that project.

Another one came also for, for
reserve a few, few, few times

in a, in a, in a week or so.

Uh, we'll start with some
images from, from, from that new

project also with, with Reserve.

My,

when we saw the video, what you guys
did in, in New York City was incredible.

They needed it.

I mean, they needed so much and their
return investment, it's gonna skyrocket

because it was only a, a, a summer club.

Now they can play all year round.

Yeah, right.

I mean, the coaches are so excited
because the coaches that work in

New York, I mean in incredible,

they would have to come down
here, the south, you know, when,

when it was snowing, you know?

So, and,

and tell us a little bit and how
many countries you are and how

many courts have you done so far?

Well, before we do that, why don't we talk
about you guys, uh, where you guys come

from, how did you get into the canopies?

How did you guys meet?

And, you know, all of that.

We wanna know.

So, uh, is a, a company, uh, owned
by in Portugal for, uh, by, by

Manuel and his wife Anna, I think
is very important to bring Anna to,

to very important to the subject.

She, she's actually the, the real owner.

She is, she's who our general in chief

is a very important person.

Yeah, probably the most important
person in all the processes.

She, she's the one handling, uh,
everyone that tied up, me and Emmanuel.

We go, we meet a little bit more
around, so we, we get to the

projects outside and mm-hmm.

We are present.

Also scale the business, so little bit.

So, but you have to, to
have, to have the, yeah.

The, the base, the structure.

The structure in the backend.

Thank you so much and I think you,
you should give also a prop to,

to She is, she is, she's the best.

And, uh, yeah, it's a,
it's a family company.

It started with, um, grand, um,
Emmanuel's, uh, grandfather's father, so

Wow.

Wow.

So what is more than a hundred years old?

It's around a hundred years old.

Wow.

It was specialized in, in, uh, casual
events, so that would be ceremony.

So mostly for events and stuff like that?

Yeah.

Social events.

Um, set up and assemble in two
days, three days, uh, yeah.

Just take, taking it, taking
it all over the, the country.

Mm-hmm.

And yeah, 2019, uh, was,
was a, a turnover, uh, page

for the, for the company.

And we decided to, to, to focus on, on
the, the paddle industry, on covering

paddle courts and sports courts.

Uh, we also do it for pickleball, for
tennis courts, for beach tennis courts.

So we can do it for, for basketball.

Alright.

Anything mostly needs to,
mostly in Europe, correct?

Mostly in Europe.

We also in, uh, Asia already Africa too.

We have some projects that are
already established and we are

developing some, some more there.

We cover already more than
400 courts around the world.

Wow.

Uh, more than 25 countries we can check.

Wow.

All the places on met.

There's lot of canopies.

A lot of canopies.

All the places I met now.

How did

you guys meet?

Yeah, we actually meet when
I was, uh, so 2021 I was, uh,

living in, in Africa, in Angola.

And I, I was very, I was very
keen for of the sport of Pado.

I'm from a very small town
in Portugal called ela.

And uh, yeah, I thought, uh,
that there was something missing

when I, when I went there.

Also all my family is there.

Uh, there, it's a city that doesn't
have, um, the, the first private

sports complex that, that exists there.

It's, it's my, my paddle club.

And, uh, that brings us to
how I met Iman, obviously.

Mm-hmm.

I was ingo searching for, for ways
to cover my, my court is also a very

rainy, uh, half a year, um, uh, place.

Okay.

It's in the North center of, of Portugal.

And yeah, I got to to to those attend
site and I was very, very impressive.

Be for me.

It was very impressive.

'cause uh, I, I pick up the phone.

At that time we were talking four years
ago and the person who pick up the phone

was the owner of the company for me.

It was, it was great.

We started chatting immediately.

Uh, I think we are two very similar guys.

We found out that afterwards, of course.

So I got the chance to have
the first, uh, um, air, uh,

canopy model and that we have.

So, so was he a

paddle player too, or No?

Not yet at the time, but
you played at least before.

Right?

Okay.

No, I'm, I'm, I'm a paddle enthusiast.

I love, I love the sport.

I think it's, it's a very important
sport for, for, for society.

I think if you can do great things
through paddle, nor on the, the

professional side of, of Thefor Media
Academy part and everything is very

important, but I think it can bring
a lot of, to, to, to the societies.

The sport.

'cause involves a lot of
people, companies, uh.

Whatever you can imagine.

I think you can put it up to, to Palo.

Yeah.

Um, so yeah, basically the,
I went to, to, for a, for a

solution, Emmanuel said to me.

Yeah, this is going to be the,
the best decision of your life.

And I can say that four years later,
I'm not saying this because we work

together or because we're friends.

Yeah.

It was definitely the, the,
the best decision of my life.

Great.

Also because of the relationship
that, that we built after afterwards.

Yeah, of course.

But uh, yeah, I had the chance to have
the first, um, uh, multi courts air model.

Installed in Porto is
nowadays is our best seller.

So it was the, the first one
in Porto at the same time.

He was the same one in four in Wai.

So you can see the where, where
the same product can work in such

different, uh, conditions, right?

So speaking about 50 degrees, high
temperatures to 25 degrees, the, the

same product can work on the same place
on different places, uh, the same way.

Uh, through that.

Yeah.

Every time someone ask me, Hey, I'm
going to build a paddle court, I'm

going to be the paddle court, I said,
okay, I have the right cover for you.

Here is Emmanuel's number.

Give him a call.

He's a great guy.

And so how do

you guys think of, okay, I'm gonna go to
the USA, we're gonna go to the US market.

When did that come to be?

So USA, uh, for us, um, rocket Tech
also shout out to, to Rocket Techs.

I think that everyone that,
that tries to do something for,

for So this year then, in ra?

Yes.

Yeah.

That's where we met you, you guys.

Very important.

Yes.

Very important.

Last year we were as visitors, yeah.

Last year as visitors.

Uh, this year because of the,
the, the timeframe there.

That, that we had, uh, it was not
possible to to to do so, uh, this

year as, um, as a Gold sponsors,
I think, yeah, gold sponsors.

This year we were at as a gold sponsors.

I don't know if I can see it,
but I think I'll say it anyways.

Uh uh, yesterday was the day where we.

Confirm that will be also
in rack text next year.

Next year has Golden Sponsors.

That's great.

Rocket Text is bringing
a lot of good news.

Uh, I, I don't know if
I see you should be.

I, I think, um, uh, Batista is, is the
guy that, that I speak the most, uh, uh,

from, from the, the Rack Attacks company.

Um, he's the guy I speak the most.

They're doing a lot of great things.

For the United States market this year,
you have more than one rack tax event

here, so be aware guys and will be present
to, uh, more or less five or six events.

I think you can, you can
expect for 2025 and 2026.

I don't know if I should say it, but yeah.

At least here, here is, man, we
just signed the contract yesterday,

so I think it, it's important
to, to say something guys.

Yeah.

Uh, the, the feedback we are getting.

From the people that, that we give
our quotes to, uh, what they are.

Um, um, how, how can I say it?

The, the, the feelings that we are
getting from the person is that how can

a product like this be so affordable
to place here in the United States?

Okay, so the company, obviously we have
a product that in this market, we don't

have no comp, we have no competition.

Okay?

Uh, there are some
companies around the world.

They do the same as we do,
obviously, uh, different manner.

And it is not only about the, the, the way
you are in as a company, the, the values

you aggregate, but also the, the product
that we bring and, uh, the philosophy of

the company and the way of being in life
of, of me, Manuel and all the, all the is.

Um.

We don't want to come and take everything.

Okay.

So for us, it's more important
to establish, um, partnerships.

Uh, we think that the, the, the
typology, the, the, the, um, the

way of building clubs here goes.

Way behind building
just one club you have.

Yeah.

So we're not trying to, to have
a product that is very costly.

Extremely costly, we could do it.

It's a place of being in market.

We'll sell anyway because the,
the, the type of investment that

is done here can aggregate that.

I, I think that's a key word, investment.

So this is more an
investment because Exactly.

Like who would be.

Like, let me ask you one, what
clubs would benefit from this?

I think all clubs.

Right?

All clubs, yeah, of course.

Right.

And it's just a matter of time before
that return on investment is there

because there's gonna be you, you
know, I mean, you could check your

logs and see all the cancellations
due to weather, what have you.

You could figure out what your loss is.

Yeah.

You know, and so, and if

you get

a couple

of years, you can recoup your endeavor.

It's a no brainer.

Right.

And it's,

it's not that the heavy
investment, if you, if you, yeah.

Make the math.

Okay.

It's not that, uh, that big of investment.

And

where do you see, so,
so on how many clubs?

Now we know that you guys have reserve how
many other clubs you are talking about?

I mean, you, you don't have to divulge
names or anything like that, but

if you want, if you want to, to,
to say any club, you might think

it's going to have it you by way.

Do, do you want to
disclose anything Julian?

Would you like to, to, well,

hopefully we can have, uh, we're
talking about ultra, hopefully

ultra is coming as well.

Okay.

Uh, but I know you've been in Texas
and you've been all over the country,

so what, and you've been in Central
America and, and tell us, you

know, how's this part of the world

growing or, or how's the
reaction to the clubs?

And then, uh, you know,
how are they looking at it?

Obviously it's an investment.

Um, and do you have any strong leads
that are gonna follow through with, with,

uh, well, my question was even better.

What was it?

Answer my question first.

What

was it?

I think everybody

forgot how many.

Who are the clubs?

So how many are, I think, I think it.

Uh, for the West, a month and
a half will be around here in

Florida State, around eight clubs.

We are already eight.

Nice.

Uh, almost ending conversations.

So eight

clubs that you're having conversations.

South Florida and North Florida.

West Center.

Florida

Center.

Florida.

So Miami, Miami Beach.

We have.

I think if, if I go to, to, to the, to
the points of the city itself, it'll be

very, very easy to, to get the curve.

So I think to, I think Florida is, is a
good market for, for, for, for exposure.

Okay.

Yeah.

Uh, yeah.

We've been also in Texas, we
were very well received in Texas.

Used in Austin.

Thank you so much guys.

It was awesome to, to be there.

Very great clubs all around.

USA already.

Okay.

They'll get even better once
they are covered, obviously.

No, imagine.

I mean, cover your court.

You know, we gotta go to Austin.

Oh no.

Is say Houston or we we
doing the certification?

Yeah, you can do, I,

I

we are

going to Houston and Houston already.

You guys to go to, to go to both.

You have in Houston, in the summer,

Austin, you have very nice clubs.

You have various type of clubs
obviously, but there are but some

clubs that I really advise that

here in Florida and also Texas,
even though in the summer

when it's super, super hot.

If you are shaded, you can
still do everything outside.

Yeah.

Five, 10 degrees less.

You know, that's a huge, huge difference.

Yeah.

I mean, here in Miami at two
o'clock in the afternoon,

in the middle of the summer.

There is no cord used.

I mean, you're melting now.

If you are over, just look over.

Yeah.

It will make a huge difference.

Right?

That's true.

Huge difference.

Even

during the day.

During the day.

Reach up to us.

We have all the, all the, um, the details
of the, the, the, the temperature that

you have inside, the tend and outside the,

what is the difference
when it comes to heat?

Like if you didn't have a canopy and
you had a canopy, okay, so, or cold.

Or cold.

There are actually two questions.

I think that the two answers that, that
I have for, for your question first, the,

the degree, um, difference temperature you
have around three cel degrees different.

Okay.

But you get the chance to put
a system inside for cold or for

heat, so, and then you can maintain
it in that, that temperature.

And if you are outside first, you'll have
the plus three degrees Celsius always.

Right.

Right.

This is the difference that, that,
that we have manage and measured.

The thing is, you get the opportunity
to control the, the temperature

inside, inside the tempera, the,
the hot mass air always go up.

What happens is during the day, the,
the air mass starts growing bigger, and

that's when you start to feel the heat.

Okay?

And if you have cooling systems
inside, of course you can, you can

have it out or you can control it.

Uh, with our opening, uh, process canopy,
uh, you can have all the priests that

brings you the, the circulating air that.

Also takes off the, the, the, the,
the hot mass air that you have on top.

So two answers for,
for, for your question.

You have with no systems included, three,
four degrees celsius di difference from

temperature from inside to outside.

But if you're covered, you get
the opportunity to have a, a

cooling system or a warming system.

So that's

great.

I mean, I, I love what you guys are doing.

I'm, I'm so excited.

That's, that's the, the cherry on, on, on,
on the top of, of the cake of the cake.

Uh, that paddle clubs need here
because we have so many outdoor clubs.

By them just adding that canopy
on top of it, it will make a huge

difference for the growth of sport.

Yeah,

and from the revenue making option, I
mean for the, the, you know, you can,

let's say because you doubled on a
PowerPoint, this will be a, I'm sorry

to interrupt you.

This will be like, for, for our
experience already, it's uh, at 30%.

Uh, wage difference
really, it's 30% is huge.

Yeah.

Because the, the thing about, uh, raining
for, for example, uh, when, when you

have an outdoor cost, uh, court is,
is not that time that it's raining.

Is the time that it
will take to, to dry up.

To, to dry up.

Exactly.

That's, that's

happens even the next day.

Sometimes.

That's

obviously another thing, uh, for
the maintenance of the courts.

For, for, for, for the turf.

If you have it exposed to the sun,
what will happen is it, it'll burn.

You have to, if it rains all the sand on
the courts that I have sent, all courts

have sand, but the courts that more
maintenance, you must put more maintenance

on to clear the, the, the, the cre, the.

The church would last longer
and less maintenance for sure.

Look, and, and all the boat

that you have on your court, the
neoprene, all the screws, everything.

I'll tell you that less longer.

So of course here in Miami

and Florida you have these summer rains
that they come in, rains for like 30

seconds, like you never rain before.

Like a

lot of water.

A lot of

water in a very short time.

Yeah.

Your quarts are soaking wet.

I mean they're done, but they're
done for the next four or five hours.

Yeah.

I mean there there's nothing you can do.

Yeah.

And you lost literally two times odd.

Yeah, that you could have make
three, $4,000 revenue in revenue and

longer if the sun doesn't come out.

Yeah, yeah, of course.

Yeah.

You know, so when you talk to these
club owners, you've got, went to

go see a bunch of club owners,
what was the response from them?

What was it really like?

You know,

a lot of interest.

A lot of interest.

Main concern.

Permits.

Ah, so permits one for the, for, for,
for, for the, the permits question.

It, it was something that, uh, we got
the, the, the first question that we

got in, in architect when, when we were
there, it was our first experience with,

uh, a lot of customers, different, uh,
places from United States, different,

uh, concerns, but they have always one
concern in, in, uh, permit in their mind.

The permits.

That's why we,

how, how about the hurricane
proof or like the storm?

The storm.

Okay.

But lemme finish.

So you, you have, uh, an engineering
team that works on permits?

Yes.

Mm-hmm.

So what are you doing with that?

So, to, to,

okay.

What, what, what, uh, we, we
thought was, uh, very important

was to establish, uh, ourselves
with a very good engineering team.

Uh, we did it.

We have a partnership with an
engineering team here from, uh, USA.

They are specialized in very big projects,
so they know that there are guys that,

that know what, what they're doing.

Uh, they are all around the, the,
all, all across the country actually.

That it's also a, a very important
matter for us because we, we think that.

There will be paddle everywhere.

I think it's awesome also for, for,
for you guys, you get to, to travel a

lot and to, to see different types of
ways of being a paddle exploring pa

and for us it's important also to give
that, that possibility to everyone.

So the, that, the engineering team
that we work with, what they do

is if the client wants it that
way, obviously they take care of.

All the process regarding the permit,
installation, uh, all the engineering

problems that, that may have.

So they'll make an, uh,
an engineering project.

They will go to the, to, to the city hall.

They'll manage, manage it for the client.

Most of the time, the club owners already,
or the investors don't have that many

time, or don't, don't have already an
established team of engineering to do it.

So, uh, and instead of.

Uh, calling someone that
has no experience with it.

The engineering team that we work
with was the one that already set

up all the projects that we have
already in the United States and,

uh, that great assists us on the,
on the rack architects, for example.

It, we, we, we, we built a tent, as
you guys saw in RA architects inside.

There's a permit needed for it.

So you, it was, wow.

You cannot just come and, yeah, yeah.

Set up a 10.

You need to have permit for it.

So yeah.

Alfonso, I think those are the guys.

I think one of the things
that the American market,

they want things simplify.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And you can, I, we can tell
you how many club owners.

They come with these great ideas and all
that, and then, then suddenly the permits.

Yeah.

And projects.

They stop for sometimes years.

Years.

Yeah.

You know, we always think, oh, they're
gonna, they're gonna, they're gonna

come and they tell you, you know, oh,
in, in two months we're gonna be okay.

When I hear

a closed opening, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Okay, well, I see it.

You know?

But for luso attendants to acquire
this engineering team, I think

it's a huge step because, yeah.

Very helpful.

Yes.

We, the, the new club owners, they
don't want, they don't know how to do

it and they don't want the headaches.

Of course.

Course they don't want the headaches.

So

that was our concern.

Yeah.

I, I

think that's a great, not,
not, not everybody's doing it.

Yeah.

You know, paddle core manufacturers,
they sell you the coordinate.

You're on your own.

That's it.

I think you, you guys adding that
added value to it, that service.

Yeah, definitely.

Uh, it's a huge, because it's
gonna be much more faster.

I mean, it's incredible.

That's exactly

what, uh, what we thought.

And I thought it was
the, the, the best way.

Yeah.

To, to give the, the, the
client, the, the, the relaxation.

Right.

It needed to, to go with
the, to go with the project.

Okay.

So how about the storms?

Like, uh, hurricanes, what is the process?

Hurricanes coming?

What do you do?

Do you take out the fabric part?

Uh, you leave it on?

I mean, is there hurricane proof?

There's always those questions
I'm sure club owners are.

Yeah.

So, um, our tens are, um, ready to
handle, uh, catch two, uh, hurricane.

Okay.

Full mounted.

So there's no need to
to take anything out.

There's no need to to dismount anything.

Um.

From Cat two up.

It's a good thing that here in United
States, the, the country already developed

that type of process of, uh, warning.

So you can know with a
lot of time before Yeah.

Mm-hmm.

That, uh, that, that area can have
that, uh, of that size is coming.

What we have is maintenance team
located here in United States.

We have several, several min
maintenance team already.

We also have in, in South America,
those teams 'cause we also.

Have 10 there already.

And what we do is if it's a, a CAT
two or up, um, hurricane, what we

do is we take off all the PVC loans.

So only the element structure
will, will, will stay there.

So, and that is ready to, to hold
up to a, a cat four hurricane.

Okay.

That take for you

guys to take down.

Uh, if it's, uh, cover, for example,
three, four courts will take about four

and a half, five hours to take it up.

Oh, that's, it's very fast.

It's super fast.

That's great.

It, it, it needs to be because we need
to make sure that to be efficient, we, we

are taking off not one curve, not two, not
three, but we must make sure that's, that

we have, that the teams and the system.

It's, it's properly done.

To do it in that time.

So that's excellent.

We must make sure that
everything goes as planned.

Uh, what we like to do is, I'm telling
you, four and a half, five hours for

three courts, because I hope, and we
know that we can do it in three hours

or three hours in the course every time.

So we like to put a little

of the, but you guys have a big team.

'cause when that's, once that happens.

Everybody will be yourself, everybody.

So that's

another point.

We, we are, we are bringing up
here because we are starting

to, to call some deals here.

No.

So what we are bringing is,
uh, a maintenance contract

that obviously, uh, gives you.

The direct access to have
the, the first teams arriving.

You know, you have a maintenance
team, uh, contract with us.

Uh, what you get obviously
is you pick up the phone.

We know that you are, uh, directed
there, so that team will be nearby.

You'll be one of the first to go to.

It's something that, that,
that you want to have too.

Thank you so much, guys.

All right.

So congratulations.

Okay.

Thank you.

Thank you, man.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.
