How to Create a Positive Money Mindset for your Kids (whether you have kids or not)
I want to talk about how to create a positive money mindset for your children. If you have got children in your life or are planning to have them and you are doing the money mindset work, you get how important it is to raise them with a solid financial foundation, isn't it? I think this is really important for everyone to talk about whether you have children or not because we are all influencing the next generation and these children or kids are going to have a huge impact on the planet.
This daily practice of abundance and gratitude will serve them so well into adulthood too.

Genecia Alluora: Today I want to talk about how to create a positive money mindset for your children. If you have got children in your life or are planning to have them and you are doing the money mindset work, you get how important it is to raise them with a solid financial foundation, isn't it? How do we talk to this next generation about money and success so that they can have a good money mindset? I think this is really important for everyone to talk about whether you have children or not because we are all influencing the next generation and these children or kids are going to have a huge impact on the planet.

Genecia Alluora: Like for myself, I meet a lot of my nieces and nephews and they ask me questions about money and also about business. So when I share with them, I am influencing them as well. I believe that by having the right conversation how to talk to kids or children about money. Well, it is one key factor in our lives. So let's get right into it. Firstly, we got to dig into our childhood money stories. Start with your own childhood and think about the money memories that your parents have given you, both positive and negative. What are some of the things that they said about money? What decisions have you made as an adult based on what they said around money?

Genecia Alluora: Let me give you an example. My parents always tell me (talking Chinese). What it means, like when you become a big tree, when you do very big things, you make a lot of money you attract a lot of chaos and disasters and dramas into your life. The other phrase talks about if you have not such a great vision, don't try to become one. You have not such a big hit, don't wear such a big helmet. Money doesn't grow on trees. So there's another one that my parents tell me too or you do have to work really hard to make money. Hearing these messages repeatedly can have major impact later in life when you are starting out a business.

Genecia Alluora: I know this because it's my personal money block. Every time things feels too easy or success, it's coming faster than you thought it would. You are subconsciously going to put the brakes on and you might subtouch a business just to slow things down a little bit, because you want to live that truth unconsciously, that it's hard to make money. So if that's something that you've been saying or modeling to your own kids or your own children, it's time for an upgrade. Instead of saying things like it's hard to make money, you have to work hard to make money you have to have a job and work hard to pay your bills say something like there are money making opportunities around us. Maybe you show them examples of entrepreneurs who are making money in different ways or creative ways and constantly ask them what their money making ideas are.

Genecia Alluora: Often our children have such great ideas. Give them confidence and self belief that they can make money by being original and creative. Let them know that making money doesn't have to be hard. Another common message from parents is around how do you spend your money? Saying things like we can't afford that or I can't afford that might feel true in the moment but is it really true? Or is it that you have chosen to spend money elsewhere? Or that it doesn't fit with your values? You could use this situation to help your kids practice discernment and choice it could be that our family doesn't spend money on these things if it's something that's not in line with your values or it could be that you want your children to wait so you say that's great let's put it on your birthday list.

Genecia Alluora: Let's put it on your Christmas list. It's kind of like a delayed gratification practice. It allows your children to get excited about it but without the I cannot afford it. There's another message that parents give their children around future visions or future visioning. You might say this to your children when we are rich we can of course, it's a great way to create a family vision or goal in the future. You might want to try this super easy visualization exercise with older kids but maybe it's just that a future goal. You may be pushing all the success from you to a later date continuously. How about saying instead of saying like when we are rich or when we win the lottery it's like a time wasting you practice focusing on the present moment.

Genecia Alluora: You help your children see the things that you have right now by putting a gratitude practice in place. I know that this can be tricky because children can get really desperate for a certain thing. Try setting a gratitude practice as a daily exercise round the table, dinner table or before bed ask your children and yourself these questions. Number one what was exciting in your life today? Number two what do you love most about your family? Number three what made you feel abundant today? Number four what did you receive today?

Genecia Alluora: Now this daily practice of abundance and gratitude will serve them so well into adulthood too. So to finish off, grab your journal and take a moment to sit with these questions. Are you ready? Number one what are some of the things that your parents said about money? Number two how is that affecting your money messages to your own children? Number three what's your language like around money in your family? Number four how could you improve your language? Well, let's give this next generation a healthier attitude towards money.
