The Drop with Danno on GFN 광주영어방송

We are honored to have the indie duo formerly known as Freedom Fry (before they were possessed by Beelzebub) as our guest artist selectors tonight for our Halloween 2021 Special. Their part is a choice selection of cinematic horror classics that are pure possession!

Show Notes

As broadcast October 29, 2021 with plenty of extra nightmares for you podcast trick-or-treaters.  Tonight a rare occurrence went down on the air, as both guest artist selectors Freedom Fry and our seemingly faithful host Danno were possessed by different demons and rebaptized in blood.  The Darkness as he is now known welcomed Phantom Fright to the show to have some REAL fun with Halloween on the air, and the guests played horror film soundtrack favorites and talked about some of their favorite moments in the movies.  However, the host (or whatever vile thing The Darkness is) took it several steps too far during the first hour in committing an abduction of one of his young devotees then murdering and burying that poor soul, watching them rise from the grave as a zombie, cause depraved havoc in the night, and regret their ultimate sealed fate as a member of the undead army.  Not to be missed for Halloween enthusiasts & big props to Bruce & Marie fka Freedom Fry for joining this nuthouse of a radio experience.

It is 20 hours past midnight on a crisp, brooding Halloween Friday, and it is time to possess, bury, and watch you rise from the dead tonight on The Drop to Hell Halloween Special. You might have expected Danno but he’s gone after his soul wa
s subsumed by Astaroth and now The Darkness has taken full control of this program, with this Friday being completely possessed as October 29, 2021. This is The Darkness of course GFN HQ studio 2 making the red light of evil shine tonight, and tonight Danno the pathetic weakling that he is had planned to welcome Freedom Fry to the show for the 2nd hour, but they also have been subsumed by Beelzebub, and join us in their new demonic form as Phantom Fright. Bruce and Marie as they were formerly known before their subjugation to Hell are a very talented duo based in LA with an incredible following, and we welcome them to take over the playlist tonight with some of their cinematic horror movie favorites for the 2nd hour. Prior to that, we tell the story of a willing abduction, murder, and burial in part one this evening followed by a possessed rising from the grave and final regret of the subject that their possession is final & forever. So, get your hexes, potions, thimbles & broomsticks ready, cuz tonight is gonna be a thriller. THIS is The Drop.
________
Michael Jackson – Thriller (The Reflex Halloween edit)
The Drop to Hell has begun the possession for this year’s Halloween special, and this is The Darkness coming at you and most definitely for you from studio 2. How’s it going this evening, Drop Demons? (Korean) This is the far more powerful version of Danno known as The Darkness after his subsummation to the almighty will of Astaroth, based here in studio 2, GFN HQ ready to welcome the artists formerly known as Freedom Fry before their own possession and tonight they join us as Phantom Fright in hour two for a selection of horror movie favorites.
And thus, we just started The Drop to Hell and officially commenced the lurking shadows tonight, that was The Reflex with his one off edit of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, which still howls and knocks morbidly below me. For those not familiar with Nicolas Laugier aka The Reflex, the guy is one of the most sought after remixers out there now, having done edits for huge names. How did he get so demonically huge? He uses the original tapes from the studio sessions of the tracks he remixes, and makes an entirely new piece of music. Pretty amazing stuff, now signed with Universal.
#9870, @gfnthedrop, podcast…
Now let’s continue with the willing abduction of our victim tonight and slow it down so we can savor every last delectable moment. Up next we have Lyn Christopher to be followed by Seals & Crofts and we’ll finish with War as The Darkness Doth Approach. THIS is The Drop on your Friday night with Phantom Fright.
________________
The Drop to Hell returns on this spooked out Friday night. What’s up Drop Gangsters (Korean)? This is The Darkness formerly known as Danno making sure the smells and sounds most foul are in the air tonight, and we welcome our fellow possessed friends Phantom Fright fka Freedom Fry to the studio for a full takeover of your soul for the 2nd hour this evening. Hard to find people that are as excited or even possessed by Halloween as I am, but Marie & Bruce are certainly that. They have a cinematic favorites playlist to give a whirl after 9pm and keep up the orgy of violence. To the recap, as one does when possessed, we just committed a willing abduction, scouted a good spot, and started taking our lovely future zombie to the other side, that was…
Lyn Christopher – Take Me With You (…this tune appeared the artist’s self-titled debut LP from 1973, which was her one and only album. Very notable here is the album features future KISS members Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley on backing vocals, before they were possessed by Republican and real demons respectively.)
Seals & Crofts – Sweet Green Fields (…this one is a sampler’s delight with that evil synth & bass bump on the beat, most famously flipped by Busta Rhymes on Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See in the late 90s. This tune appears on Get Closer from 1976, which was an instant classic and remains so.)
War – Slippin Into Darkness (…heading back 5 years earlier to what is probably the band’s greatest album in All Day Music from 1971. Obviously, it was great to check the sweet green fields for a good spot, but letting The Darkness approach right now is a true delight and we’re readying the fava beans & chianti.)
Now moving towards the true finality here, it’s time to go to the other side. Up next is Don’t Make Me Kill You by Angela Alexander & Saddler and we’ll finish everything with Norma Tanega and You’re Dead. THIS is The Drop to Hell on your guests & requests Friday with Phantom Fright.
Angela Alexander & JD Saddler – Don’t Make Me Kill You
Norma Tanega – You’re Dead

The Drop to Hell rises again here in quarter 2, our willing friend is now slowly crawling out of the grave & getting used to her new self. This was Danno now The Darkness making everything happen for tonight’s Halloween special from studio 2, GFN HQ in downtown Gwangju. Our guest artist selectors for this week used to be known as Freedom Fry before Beelzebub got a hold of them, and Phantom Fright joins us after 9 for some horror flick faves on the playlist front. At any rate, let’s run down the soundtrack to the rising & witchcraft we started part 2 with, that was….
The Revels – Midnight Stroll ( …a couple spooky kooky faves from the 50’s there. The Revels came out with this in 1959 on a 7” single or 45 as the older folks like myself call it. The other side is also a great Halloween rarity called Talking To My Heart.)
Kip Tyler – She’s My Witch ( …this is the stage name of one Elwood Smith born in Chicago, IL although we all wish it was Calumet City for obvious but very trivial reasons. Kip put this out in 1958, and would later call himself Jimmy Daley and would lead possibly the most 1950’s band ever, which was named The Ding A Lings.)
Now before we continue just a quick reminder to follow us on social media if you so dare, we are @gfnthedrop on most major social media platforms. If you’re local aka here in Korea, send us a message #9870 (50/100). What doesn’t cost you anything is catching us after the show, The Drop with Danno or The Drop on GFN (or) is available on most major podcast platforms, and you can find us with a simple google search & subscribe free & easy.
Moving ahead, we’ll pay homage to our friend’s ongoing possession and up next we got some soul favorites with Willie West & The High Society along with The Love Unlimited Orchestra and Leon Haywood, all of which we’ll discuss further after the wicked fun times are had. THIS is The Drop to Hell with The Darkness & Phantom Fright on your Friday night Halloween special.
____________
The Drop to Hell continues as the zombified remains of our former friend lurch aimlessly ahead as The Darkness reaches towards the end of our first 57 this evening. This is the man fka Danno checking in, studio 2, GFN HQ, and we have LA-based band Freedom Fry joining us shortly in demon form. Phantom Fright has a brilliant playlist of cinematic scary favorites for our 2nd hour, so don’t let the power of Christ compel you, and keep it locked here where the true power of evil shines. To the recap….
Willie West & The High Society Brothers – The Devil Gives Me Everything (…Born and raised in Louisiana which is a great place for possession and subsuming souls it must be duly noted,, Willie West made his first recording already in the year 1959. While being backed by The Meters, he also had one release on Warner Brothers in the mid 1970's, plus numerous singles produced by Allen Toussaint. Even though he was noticed locally and in the circles of soul music aficionados with minor hits such as "Did You Have Fun" in 1960, Willie never managed to break to national success. This tune along with some other never published gems were put out by Timmion Records of Finland in 2009 called Lost.)
The Love Unlimited Orchestra – Midnight & You (…Barry White & company right here. It must be noted Barry White had the most wealth, women, and the deepest baritone voice of anyone who ever fought strictly on the side of righteousness. A truly formidable foe of The Darkness his whole life, although we did try to get him.)
Leon Haywood – I Wanna Do Something Freaky To You (…while Leon was only a minor success on the charts, he always remained busy and active through 5 decades in music. This tune while a minor hit at the time was obviously given huge new life with Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg’s Nuthing But a G Thang from The Chronic released in 1992.)
So, we approach final regret for our zombie victim tonight, so we’ll play her out as she realizes a deal with the devil is forever with Ghost Funk Orchestra. We got a couple interludes to play at the start and we’ll rock out Step Back Wild Child and Fuzzy Logic to rock it proper and play us out to Phantom Fright’s possession session for tonight. THIS is The Drop to Hell with The Darkness on your Halloween 2021 special with those formerly known as Freedom Fry.
