Greetings and Welcome to The 405 Coffee Break with O.K. Solberg
New episodes tend to air over the local KMMR radio station @ 5 minutes past 4PM each M-F. And have been doing so, nearly every week since Sept 2018.
I'm D.J. Rasmussen, O.K.s friend since junior high, possibly your neighbor & this websites maintainer, whom strives to get each episode's show notes written, the transcript proofed and the audio posted to the internet within a few hours of that days KMMR air time. NOTE: recently been publishing most new releases by 4:30PM.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy the time we can spend together.
I wantta again welcome you to The 405 Coffee Break. Getting warm out there guys. Get a cool tall glass of lemonade, bottle of water, iced tea. Let's see what's happening.
OK Solberg:Spring wheat $5.61 a bushel. 550lb steer calf from $5 all the way up to $5.35 a pound depending on their quality. And a 100lb fat lamb in BVilling $3.30 a pound. But guys, there's more, much more.
OK Solberg:Okay. Here it is. Listen up. If you need something done, get a busy person to do it. Now I heard that phrase about 4 decades ago. And the 1st time I heard it, I paused and thought, hey. That doesn't sound right. They're so busy. But then I pondered it. Oh, yeah. It made perfect sense.
OK Solberg:A busy person simply gets things done. And guys, I want you to know that I first heard it from Elizabeth Bergsago. I always like to remember the people from whom I learned something. Oh, and PS, I like to learn. And isn't life about learning?
OK Solberg:So tell me, are you like me when you find out something new, a new something? Don't you like to share it? This has nothing to do with busy people, but here's something I learned only a month ago. Did you know that 37 has a little magic in his back pocket? And I know I already shared this on The 405, but it's short and also somebody out there didn't hear it.
OK Solberg:See if you take 37 multiplied by 3 you get 1-1-1. Nice and neat. But if you take 37 and multiply it times 6 you get 2-2-2. And if you take 37 times 9 you get 3-3-3. And if you take 37 times 12 you get 4-4-4 all the way up.
OK Solberg:37 times 27 equals 9-9-9. And I don't care who you are. That's just fun. 111-222-333-444 and on it goes. I like to learn.
OK Solberg:It's fun to learn. So always remember and never forget the thing that I learned way back. If you need something done, get a busy person to do it. That concept is so important. And there are other sayings that mirror the same meaning.
OK Solberg:Know guys, a concept that gets used a lot and is very meaningful gets worded in different ways in different places. People who get things done don't wait for perfect conditions. That's another one that's out there or this one. The more you do, the more you can do. And finally, excellence is a habit, not an event.
OK Solberg:Excellence is a habit, not an event. But listen one last time to our saying for today. And as you listen, notice how at first it seems backwards. If you need something done, get a busy person to do it. Now, pray tell, why does that hold true most of the time?
OK Solberg:Why is that? Well, the deeper meaning is not that busy people have more free time. They usually have less. But it's inferring that people who are already accomplishing things tend to have qualities that make them reliable. They know how to prioritize.
OK Solberg:They distinguish between what is important and what can wait. They have momentum. People who are already active often find it easier to keep moving than someone who is inactive. They have developed discipline. Their schedule isn't necessarily lighter.
OK Solberg:They're simply better at managing it. They tend to keep commitments as well. A busy person often has a reputation to protect. So when they say yes, they usually follow through and they keep that good reputation going. Now two questions. Two questions for you. We're almost done. Sit up. Pay attention. Do you admire a person who gets things done?
OK Solberg:And 2ndly, are you that kind of person? Listen to this bible verse, Proverbs 22:29 Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before obscure men. Proverbs 22 verse 29 Busy people don't necessarily have more hours in the day. They simply have fewer wasted hours.
OK Solberg:So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
