Five years ago, I found out I had fibroadenomas (benign breast tumors), which 90% of the time return after surgical removal. I decided not to undergo the operation and instead found a way to heal the underlying cause. After years of extreme pain, irregular cycles, and ovarian cysts, I finally learned how to balance my hormones which healed my fibroadenomas and led me to regular, pain-free periods.

I learned how to make lifestyle shifts, remove toxins from my environment, and give my body what it actually needs to function optimally and heal on a cellular level. After my experience, I became a Functional Diagnostic Nutritional® Practitioner so that I can empower women in their own holistic health journey.

Even if you’ve been told your labs are normal or that your symptoms aren’t a cause for concern - YOU are the expert of your body and your experience. You deserve to feel AMAZING, not just “normal”. I’m here to help you achieve optimal overall health through simple, straightforward lifestyle changes that you can start to implement today.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's also framed in like mental health or oh I have an emotional issue.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's really hard to see a correlation between this and my hormones, my energy levels because we're just hot.

[SPEAKER_00]: Think positively, push through to know and I believe this now all the time.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is literally all the work I do with my clients now.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like, no, it's always me.

[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the balancing hormones naturally podcast.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is your podcast host, Leah Brugaman.

[SPEAKER_01]: I am a functional diagnostic nutritional practitioner.

[SPEAKER_01]: Here you're going to get actionable steps you can take today to start balancing your hormones naturally so that you can maximize your menstrual cycle for painless periods, more energy and weight loss.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's dive on in.

[SPEAKER_02]: I am so excited for you to talk and hear from our guest today, Karabra Rooney.

[SPEAKER_02]: She's actually been my long time coach.

[SPEAKER_02]: I started working with her in, I don't know, twenty, twenty a long time ago when Landon was literally just a couple months old.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I've worked with her ever since.

[SPEAKER_02]: We do a lot of nervous system work.

[SPEAKER_02]: So that is really what we're going to be talking about today as nervous system and rebuyering your brain.

[SPEAKER_02]: More importantly, she actually comes from a background of lime mold, breast implant illness, you know, didn't have a period for over five years.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so she actually is really able to talk to the nervous system aspect related to health.

[SPEAKER_02]: And as she is just really come out on the other side and has all of this energy and finally clearing all of these things out, she will really firmly tell you that

[SPEAKER_02]: and then nervous system and stress and anxiety are going to be the biggest hurdles when it comes to healing and really impacting your overall health.

[SPEAKER_02]: So she is going to give you some really actionable things.

[SPEAKER_02]: She's going to share a little bit about her story with that.

[SPEAKER_02]: So she's been my coach for a very long time and then just the past six, six months maybe.

[SPEAKER_02]: I've been working with her on helping her finish clearing out

[SPEAKER_02]: all the health things.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so she can kind of speak to the client aspect a little bit as well.

[SPEAKER_02]: But you guys, this is a good one.

[SPEAKER_02]: So Kara has been on before and talked about nervous system.

[SPEAKER_02]: You guys had a ton of questions.

[SPEAKER_02]: So she's going to be giving you really action well things.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you're someone that feels like you're stressed all the time or if you're someone that feels like you're not stressed all the time, this is going to be a really good one for you.

[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to a repeat guest.

[SPEAKER_02]: We have Carabroni, who you guys heard before on nervous systems.

[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to be talking more about nervous system, but we're going to be diving also into a few different things.

[SPEAKER_02]: But we were talking about something before.

[SPEAKER_02]: We hopped on this and I want you to expand on it and you were basically saying that you truly think that ninety percent

[SPEAKER_02]: of people's health issues are related to their nervous system.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, whether they have Ly, mold, all the things which I feel like you speak for my good place because you actually have have Ly and mold.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, like, very serious, like, chronic things.

[SPEAKER_02]: So let's do it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me why, ninety percent.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the strong claim.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a strong claim.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I guess so everyone knows where I'm coming from.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I had as Lea mentioned mold, stress, probably some breast implant illness, like real severe chronic.

[SPEAKER_00]: fatigue, what else do I have?

[SPEAKER_00]: What else have you helped me with?

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh my god, issue is hormones.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have a period for three and a half, four years at one point.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, so if you guys can relate to me, I've had it all.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've had it all.

[SPEAKER_00]: And my honestly, like, eight-year journey has, I wouldn't have said that I was like, really like anything was wrong.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the crazy part.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I wouldn't have said I was stressed.

[SPEAKER_02]: You definitely wouldn't have said your stress.

[SPEAKER_02]: You definitely would say you were tired.

[SPEAKER_02]: You weren't exhausted.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was super exhausted.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like I knew something was off for sure, but I wanted to have said I was stressed.

[SPEAKER_00]: Um, if you can relate to any of that, I was just a super, super, like, high achiever, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: I had a full time job.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was traveling the world.

[SPEAKER_00]: I lived in London.

[SPEAKER_00]: I lived in Australia.

[SPEAKER_00]: I had my own business, like a highly stressful profitable business.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I was doing all the things.

[SPEAKER_00]: And once I hit this real deep crash and burn,

[SPEAKER_00]: and mind you, everyone, like, I went to all the doctors, like, what's going on?

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what's going on me?

[SPEAKER_00]: I went to, I did gut doctors, I did kinesiologists, I did supplements galore, I did four, five, not repost, like before working with me.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, all, everything possible.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then someone said to me, maybe it was you.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, someone said, you really have to work on, you'll never heal if you have stress in your body.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so probably about after like literally seven years of me thinking, I know what's wrong with me, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very gung-ho in that.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, okay, I'm gonna take that so seriously because I went from super stressed, I've functioning all the things, all the anxiety, all the internal pressure, all the time, to like,

[SPEAKER_00]: Can't function in the mornings like I can barely get out of bed.

[SPEAKER_00]: I could barely run my business at this point because I'm so so tired and I can walk you through like nervous system wise like what was going on is you go from a fighter flight response and most women can probably do this till you're thirty and you start seeing symptoms.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if you are high high performing you relate to any of these things you can do it till twenty five thirty years old and then health symptoms start to pop up.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the fighter flight response.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then eventually, you've got nothing left anymore, so that window of tolerance.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if we're talking, your physiological response, you guys may have heard, like, your window of tolerance, which is just your ability, physiologically to handle stress, to bounce back from stress.

[SPEAKER_00]: So when you have this window, when you're younger and you're twenty, do this big window, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: You just bounce back from anything, you can be out, you can be doing whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then as you get older, get smaller and smaller, as more stress happens, as more emotional traumas happen, or other traumas work, whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the ability to bounce back, that window challenge gets a lot smaller.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that was what was happening to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then eventually, I went from the fighter flight response, probably is my baseline state all the time.

[SPEAKER_00]: to a shutdown response.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you may have heard people call this as a living in a freezer response, a shutdown response, where everything then became like, I don't care, slower, like I would have called myself lazy, but I was so fatigued and just so exhausted.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so coming full circle, so the question you asked me at the beginning,

[SPEAKER_00]: I believe all of my health issues were, of course, very, very real.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like you pulled up tests, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: You saw the amount of mold I had.

[SPEAKER_00]: You saw the line.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like you could see my hormones.

[SPEAKER_00]: The tests were very, very real.

[SPEAKER_00]: But they were all just cherry on top.

[SPEAKER_00]: The straw that broke the camels back to some of these, um,

[SPEAKER_00]: the way that I was living inside my own internal dialogue, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: My own internal self-talk, my own internal anxiety and high pressure and continuously working and making money and living from that state.

[SPEAKER_00]: Pad, I regulated my emotions, had I learned how to navigate all of that when I was way younger, I do not believe

[SPEAKER_00]: fact, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: I do not believe that mold and lime and everything else would have impacted me to the extent that it did.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, also, something I think is interesting to just look at our society as a whole is like, why is mold illness becoming so much more prevalent?

[SPEAKER_02]: Why is lime becoming so much more prevalent?

[SPEAKER_02]: Why is fatigue and chronic illness and high-to-diabetes and all of these things that also have a very, very, very big stress component?

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's a very

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to give their identity, so we'll just call them a very good friend of mine who has breast cancer.

[SPEAKER_02]: and this is a breast cancer that came back and she is doing a different treatment this this time and she went to something out of the country actually that was like very holistic whole-minded when it comes and I cannot she's like why are they doing psychology and like stress and all of these things because that has such a big

[SPEAKER_02]: component to disease.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, yes, our toxins are growing.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, our society as a whole is just to sicker.

[SPEAKER_02]: More toxic works both to so many more things.

[SPEAKER_02]: But like, when have we ever been in a society where it's like, everybody's life is in your face.

[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's opinions of you are in your face all over social media.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you can see all of these different accounts within seconds, just scroll, scroll, scroll.

[SPEAKER_02]: And

[SPEAKER_02]: we don't take that into account.

[SPEAKER_02]: You went from fighter flight to freeze, but in that entire time, I don't think you ever were like, yeah, I'm stressed.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, because it was okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: So for context, I've worked at a huge tech company for ten or eleven years, always corporate.

[SPEAKER_00]: Before that, I was program, so I grew up in America.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've been abroad now for eight and a half years, but your programs, the American dream, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: If you work hard enough,

[SPEAKER_00]: you will make it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so you're put into sports where you, like, at least me, I was super competitive had to win, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Had to get all ease.

[SPEAKER_00]: That was also an emotional tie between my dad and I. He expected, I was going to do that and get, like, get those kind of ease.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I wanted to please him.

[SPEAKER_00]: Society gives you a pat on the back for that.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's how you get rewarded.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's how you get promoted.

[SPEAKER_00]: So

[SPEAKER_00]: People don't think this is uncommon, and it's not anymore.

[SPEAKER_00]: But when you are creating a business, a life of family from that level of survival mode, because it is an operating system, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a belief system.

[SPEAKER_00]: From I'm not good enough, I have to do more.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have to keep going.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's so ingrained before the ages of seven years old.

[SPEAKER_00]: by what you see in your parents, by witnessing society, by what you learn in school.

[SPEAKER_00]: So when I talk about a belief system, the way I refer to it, because like if you guys don't know, I do this now for life and business coaching.

[SPEAKER_00]: I work with my clients on this.

[SPEAKER_00]: Their belief systems are so ingrained around money from what they saw.

[SPEAKER_00]: A belief is just too components.

[SPEAKER_00]: How your body remembers it, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: That emotional response, whether it's anxiety, apathy, whatever it is, there's an emotional response to you beliefs.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it has memories attached to it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: So when you have these two components that make up your belief systems, they are so real to you.

[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter what other people say when it's looping in your brain and your brain is then going over it a million times over.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is how I have to act.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is how I have to think.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is how I have to respond to be loving accepted in a good member of society until you change those belief systems.

[SPEAKER_00]: which again, when I say, in your nervous system, in your physiological response and in your mind, so it's the two components, your mind and your body.

[SPEAKER_00]: Until you change those, you will continue operating from some level.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if I want, you will never heal.

[SPEAKER_00]: The biggest thing like Leah's helped me with now is all the effects of my third or something years of acting away.

[SPEAKER_00]: When I do not believe, I would have needed any of this stuff, had I been able to change my belief system when I was way younger?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I want to actually sort of prove this point So we have a very young client in our program right now and she is She just turned twenty one so she's one of our youngest like our youngest has spent eighteen just just legal and She came to us having panic anxiety attacks

[SPEAKER_02]: daily migraines, painful periods, like all of these things, but something that she didn't really touch on or acknowledge until later on is wanting to lose weight.

[SPEAKER_02]: And turned out like she had been on diet, like been put on diet.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually been put on them since she was twelve years old.

[SPEAKER_02]: And like everyone around her, like never had a weight issue was very like easily maintained.

[SPEAKER_02]: And she just felt like she struggled with it all the time.

[SPEAKER_02]: And we had a lot of emotional work not to do one any of the other things.

[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't touch anxiety.

[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't touch panic.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like daily panic attacks.

[SPEAKER_02]: We touched on her worthiness to be herself without a connection to weight.

[SPEAKER_02]: And that was so big for her because she was literally like, I can't

[SPEAKER_02]: I will show up as me when I weigh the right way.

[SPEAKER_02]: The way I think that I should be.

[SPEAKER_02]: And when we finally were able to flip that switch for her, she actually lost fourteen pounds, like literally twelve weeks.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like it was just like the weight falls off.

[SPEAKER_02]: She's like not having daily anxiety and panic attacks, not having her daily migraines.

[SPEAKER_02]: And she fought that really hard.

[SPEAKER_02]: choose like, no, like, I'm not going to do them.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to do the mindset.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to like think about how this is important to me.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, just tell me the supplement.

[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me the protocol.

[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me the food because that's so hard to admit totally.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's so hard to say oh and I think it's also framed and like mental health or you know, oh I have an emotional issue.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's it's really hard to see a correlation between this and

[SPEAKER_00]: my hormones, my energy levels, because we're just hot, like, think positively, push through, like, to know, and I believe this now all the time.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, this is literally all the work I do with my clients now.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like, no, it's always me.

[SPEAKER_00]: It really was part.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, of course, like, now, like, here we went, I said, because I'm not gaslighting anyone.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I literally had test results to say how wild things were in my body.

[SPEAKER_00]: But what caused the wildness was, yeah, all, like, I had a ton of things.

[SPEAKER_00]: You same, same as this one, right, around having the perfect body, getting perfect grades.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's so much perfectionism.

[SPEAKER_00]: We don't understand how much this reeks have it on our hormones, um, later down the line.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then, let me guess to fix all of them and be like, just trying to take a supplement, guys.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have, I showed Leo pictures.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have three cabinets of supplements, none of that crap work.

[SPEAKER_00]: None of it worked until I addressed what was creating my, all my emotional feels, like all the other things.

[SPEAKER_00]: And usually it's your drive.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're listening to this and like, you know, you might not think you're stressed, but like, how fast are your thoughts?

[SPEAKER_00]: How, so like, okay, I'll break down a little bit.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if you're in fighter flight, your thoughts gonna really fast.

[SPEAKER_00]: You talk really fast.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you are always overthinking.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're second guessing everything.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're probably a really high, high self-doubt in people pleasing.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I gotta do more.

[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta be more.

[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta be all over the place.

[SPEAKER_00]: And those are just some things when you're in fighter flight.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, there's some really weird habits that I've pointed out to people because they're like, I'm not stressed.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not in fight or flight.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, okay, are you okay, making dinner without like a podcast without music without talking to somebody?

[SPEAKER_02]: Do you watch a video and also be on Instagram at the same time?

[SPEAKER_02]: Do you read a book or three books or four books or five books at the same time but also have your phone that you have to stop in between chapters?

[SPEAKER_02]: Like when someone messages you, do you then go through the rest of your apps and clear all the notifications out at one time?

[SPEAKER_02]: And they're like, yeah, someone does one of those things.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, yeah, that's fighter flight.

[SPEAKER_02]: You're literally living on those adrenaline hormones.

[SPEAKER_02]: And that higher cortisol until it is going to tank underneath you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Totally.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the way I started learning.

[SPEAKER_00]: So as I started teaching like nervousness to work and in all of that, I can see the ocean right here from like I live in currently as we're filming this on diabetes.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I can see the ocean and I would go down to the ocean.

[SPEAKER_00]: So do my walks every day.

[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the things that we were taught is actually just like sitting in presence and holding it for like ten seconds, twenty seconds.

[SPEAKER_00]: And for the first few months, it was like my phone was pulling me, like I had to reach for it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I had to reach for it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or I would always be thinking, I could do something else.

[SPEAKER_00]: I had to learn how to sit and look at the waves.

[SPEAKER_00]: and just watch the waves and sit there and what most women struggle with and it creates so much sabotage patterns and so just in your health it's going to create it in your relationship it's going to create it with your money in your business in your career these real sabotage patterns most women can't hold

[SPEAKER_00]: the good.

[SPEAKER_00]: Every client calls me like, I want to hold my piece.

[SPEAKER_00]: The good, not feeling like the other shoes going to drop or I'm missing something or something's going to go wrong.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have to work on actually having your body feel good with feeling good.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I know that sounds wild and so simple.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I've worked with so many people on this, so you just have to start being able to hold more of that wonderful, peaceful, great feeling.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the more you can do that, you actually go into what we call ventrovago.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that is your state of connection where you feel maybe even either listening to this, you feel connected to me, connected to Leah, and you're able to be present.

[SPEAKER_00]: When you're connected, when you're present, that's when you can digest food.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's when your whole body starts working again and it's only there and when we're there, everything else starts working.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think I don't know why our program or why we like get self-programmed that way, waiting for the second shooter drop, but even when things are going really good, clients will be like, well, this weekend.

[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I guess it went really well.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why though, so I'm sure this week will be bad.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think wait, wait, let's back track like who said this week is going to be bad.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like why are we telling our body that, you know, now your stomach's going to go make that come true.

[SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[SPEAKER_02]: So it's really tricky and I think that I think also it doesn't help that there's so much health noise out there about you

[SPEAKER_02]: getting the perfect supplement and the perfect product and the perfect thing because I feel like sometimes that's a really big struggle we have with clients when they first come in is they they can't let go of certain habits they're like this is my writer die and like but it's not serving you obviously these are the symptoms we have coming on but they've also been told by doctors like well he just react weird to suffer

[SPEAKER_02]: or you could never go on that, or you can't do this.

[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like we literally had a client this week who like went into this full defense mechanism to explain her reaction to a supplement and I was like,

[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, just fix it.

[SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, but I just was worried you guys weren't going to believe me because my doctor said that like they've never seen that reaction before like it's got to be me like she was unjust weird.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, okay, well, now we have a whole bunch to unpack and why you think you're weird.

[SPEAKER_02]: But we never, I don't know, it's just it's society.

[SPEAKER_02]: I guess has just programmed us to just think this is how it is.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think there's a few things here.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if you have the belief system, some things wrong with me and if you're listening to this, you probably do because there's something wrong with your health.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when you then have that lens, you will keep finding things that are wrong with you and you'll keep listening to all these people and all these things that must be this and must be this and must be this.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you'll keep finding evidence of what is wrong with you.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think one of the biggest things that

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, Leah, you have in your programs now.

[SPEAKER_00]: So first and foremost, like, don't listen to anything else.

[SPEAKER_00]: I would actually say, like, I've worked with, I can't even tell you, how many doctors gas lit me?

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, but not even doctors.

[SPEAKER_00]: I went Western.

[SPEAKER_00]: I went everywhere.

[SPEAKER_00]: I went everywhere.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Leah will listen to be like, okay, let's actually unpack for you as an individual.

[SPEAKER_00]: What's going on?

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, when my body wasn't recovering, you knew there was something viral, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: You found the line for me after

[SPEAKER_00]: eight, seven, eight years of this because I'm like, I'm not recovering.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can't work out at all, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And so first and foremost, it's shutting down the noise.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just doing what Leah says.

[SPEAKER_00]: Literally just doing what she says.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's so much easier.

[SPEAKER_00]: You don't watch anything else to support the fact that something's wrong with you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't watch anything else.

[SPEAKER_00]: Cut it all out.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't look at the noise.

[SPEAKER_00]: Use that for something else.

[SPEAKER_00]: Use that for expanding your life for feeling good, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: For doing some nervous system work.

[SPEAKER_00]: But what you have in your programs.

[SPEAKER_00]: that I have really never seen other people have actually is addressing that belief system and the emotional components and the nervous system work to say if there's a looping thought something's wrong with me this isn't going to work for me.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've spent all this money before you have stuff that reprograms that at the root and so you and I do various similar things with that because we've seen how people will knock at the results until they change their belief systems.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I learned that from you because whenever something wouldn't work for me in business, I'd be like, well, I guess that was my fault.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like it always came back to like where what I was thinking about it, what I believed could be true, what I believe could be possible and then.

[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, probably two years in, I started to notice the pattern of the clients that always got the results.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like the clients that always got the results had this tunnel vision of like, just tell me what to do and I'll do it.

[SPEAKER_02]: And we didn't have to unpack the

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I should get better.

[SPEAKER_02]: You know, because right now while I'm sick, my husband actually makes me breakfast and bed.

[SPEAKER_02]: My husband takes care of me and I started to notice these patterns and that's when I was like, okay, I need to go back to learn more things.

[SPEAKER_02]: Because there's a whole other capacity to healing outside of just the right protocol.

[SPEAKER_02]: Can we talk about that?

[SPEAKER_02]: Can we talk about the pale?

[SPEAKER_02]: Have you talked about this in the past?

[SPEAKER_02]: Not super in-depth, but we have talked about it, but yeah, that's, that is, I call that, that's our tough love.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's about like four weeks into the program, like, how are your symptoms helping you?

[SPEAKER_02]: And it's always such a hard lesson for everybody to get through because the first gut reaction is, this is not helping you, Leo.

[SPEAKER_02]: My paint will hear you.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's not helping me.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you'd asked me why my health, all my health issues were helping me in some way, shape or form, I would have said you're crazy.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, eventually you get down this road for so long and you're like, let me just be open to something else in my mind.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me be open to someone asked me a different question, maybe unlock something.

[SPEAKER_00]: When I do this work and guys so specific that I'm usually doing around money blocks, sabotage money anxiety, whatever, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: But like it's all the same because I've had to do it so much mail.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's called the payoff.

[SPEAKER_00]: So it's it's it's rooted in neural linguistic programming, but like there's a reason why you stay sick.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a reason.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I had to ask myself, what do I get out of having all these health issues?

[SPEAKER_00]: And so I guess I'll be a question if you're listening to us ask yourself, what do I get?

[SPEAKER_00]: And I was doing this for the client the other day.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I said, what do you get out of the shame that you hold?

[SPEAKER_00]: And she said, I get to hide.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have to go out on public, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: I get to not succeed.

[SPEAKER_00]: I get people take care of me.

[SPEAKER_00]: You get something on everything.

[SPEAKER_00]: So for mine, like I think, I think, yeah, I got rest.

[SPEAKER_00]: That was a big one.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a big one for most women.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's a big one.

[SPEAKER_02]: I would say every, like, painful period, migraine type A achiever health issues is because they don't say no, they don't rest.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, please.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I got rest.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have to fail because I could blame it on my health issues and excuse.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: So like, because I was programmed to succeed, but if I have really deep health issues, that wasn't failure.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's my body.

[SPEAKER_00]: So ask yourself that and things won't lock and we all do things because of subconscious payoff.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Ah, that's it.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's the hardest one.

[SPEAKER_02]: And sometimes it's, I will say it's like one of those things where people start to acknowledge it a little bit.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like they start making these changes that I cook and willing to make these health changes I'm willing to make.

[SPEAKER_02]: this and they see a little bit of progress, but if you haven't really let go of how it's serving you, it comes right back.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so whenever I have a regression for someone's like feeling a lot better and then all of the sudden like I'm back to square one.

[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't working and that's the language they use.

[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't working.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not seeing results blah blah blah blah.

[SPEAKER_02]: It goes, oh, okay.

[SPEAKER_02]: There's something deeper to unpack here.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it's typically, yes, it's layers.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's when it's like physically and tangibly.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is the point when people like to run more labs because tangibly

[SPEAKER_02]: It gives them an answer of x, y, z, but like emotionally you have to unpack because typically what happened is you stopped doing a lot of things and it's like, okay, well, why did we stop doing that?

[SPEAKER_02]: Why did we go back to the rat race?

[SPEAKER_02]: Why did we, you know, stop paying attention to all of this, which I think is

[SPEAKER_02]: the harder part because you have to really address how it's helping you because if you don't figure out how to give that to yourself in a different capacity.

[SPEAKER_02]: Your symptoms are going to keep showing up for you because that's literally what they're doing.

[SPEAKER_02]: They're showing up for you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have to cut the old emotional tie and give yourself that in a positive healthy, beautiful way.

[SPEAKER_02]: which is hard.

[SPEAKER_02]: I am not saying this is easy.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't want anybody to walk away from this episode and be like, oh my gosh, they said it was on my head.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, there are specific supplements and there's specific things that we use with, you know, all of our clients depending on their symptoms.

[SPEAKER_02]: But I am telling you, like, this supplement aren't going to work.

[SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna have expensive pee if we don't work on the emotional part because you just you're just gonna keep reacting you're gonna keep peeing through things It's just not gonna work.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree although you did give me one supplement that change my whole freaking life But the funny thing is like I have had people like take that supplement before and it is helped them obviously they needed it, but like

[SPEAKER_02]: you had the rest of the things, which is why that supplement worked so well.

[SPEAKER_02]: But there is randomly, like, everyone's around, we'll have somebody who comes in without a gallbladder, who was never put on Oxbile, and they'll be like, that was the life-changing thing of my life.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, okay, well, I don't know why you weren't told to go on Oxbile when I took your gallbladder, but okay.

[SPEAKER_02]: But I wanted to ask you something because,

[SPEAKER_02]: you are like the OG when it comes to the nervous system.

[SPEAKER_02]: And there's two things that I kind of get asked.

[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot after our first episode in one was, how do I support my nervous system when I'm so down in the depths?

[SPEAKER_02]: My health is so bad.

[SPEAKER_02]: Things are always coming at me all the time.

[SPEAKER_02]: a good example someone gave was I have a special needs child and so she's like my life will never not be stressful not because I don't love my child but like you're a permanent caregiver you have like so many extra things on top of that so she's was asking do I basically give up the idea that I can be healthy yeah such a great question and obviously I don't have that level of experience but I had

[SPEAKER_00]: The year is when I was like, all this never be healthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: I literally don't know if I'll ever be able to wake up and take a phone call again.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that, if you keep believing that, that will feel really dark.

[SPEAKER_00]: Great, like if you never see a light at the end of the tunnel, that will really feel dark.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think it's really, first what I would do is actually acknowledge the belief that you keep thinking specific to you, is it?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never be healthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never not be stressed, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's really specific to you, listener right now, to find what's the looping thing?

[SPEAKER_00]: What's the looping belief?

[SPEAKER_00]: I had a belief like, I'll never be okay in the mornings, or I'll never be healthy again, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So find your belief that's looping.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then I would say so that's like a top down right belief to your body because your brain is always sending signals down to your body.

[SPEAKER_00]: So find that looping belief the one for you and then do some support at that level.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if that is bringing you on.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's either going to bring you up a lot of anxiety or a lot of shutdown response.

[SPEAKER_00]: So again, it's noticing what state does that belief bring me?

[SPEAKER_00]: Does it bring me in to a fighter flight?

[SPEAKER_00]: Go go go.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or is it bring me opposite into a shutdown?

[SPEAKER_00]: And apathy, and I don't really care.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing's ever going to get better.

[SPEAKER_00]: So acknowledge which one it brings you.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then you will do some sort of nervous system movement or release based on the response that's giving you.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, for example, let's go to the shutdown one, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: If it's bringing you to apathy, I don't care, heavy, move, I don't wanna move, like no light, okay?

[SPEAKER_00]: I would actually just do, let's, I'm gonna, I'm gonna do a hug, a hug to your own body, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: If you're listening to this, I want you to give your body a hug and hug yourself and rock back and forth and just say whatever's the valve opposite of the thought you're feeling.

[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe it's just like, I'm safe.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm here right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm present right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: So this is just a really gentle movement of bringing a little bit of energy to some of that freeze.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to move your physiological response.

[SPEAKER_00]: So something really gentle.

[SPEAKER_00]: It could be a light sway, it could be a hum, but usually it's just like, I'm here.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm present.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm safe.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's getting better.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you go into more of a

[SPEAKER_00]: stress response, a fader flight response, you're going to want to move that energy a little bit more.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you might do something a little faster.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, I'm going to shake my hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm shaking my hands in front of Leah if you're listening.

[SPEAKER_00]: So just shake your hands faster and faster if you're moving that high energy you have and you want to see something to yourself again.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm safe.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Everything's okay because usually you're probably in a lot of overwhelmed anxiety through your body.

[SPEAKER_00]: So again, the opposite thought, just some safe.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm here.

[SPEAKER_00]: They all while you're moving the energy in your body.

[SPEAKER_00]: I feel good actually.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have more energy from that.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think I had a tired morning.

[SPEAKER_00]: You were doing a lot.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think the part where you were like we need to acknowledge where we're at is so important because

[SPEAKER_02]: I will say, I love social media for so many things and I hate it for so many things and one of the things I really hate it for is the miss education around it because also people be like, I am regulating my nervous system by putting my legs up a wall and doing breath work.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, okay, that's great for you.

[SPEAKER_02]: But like the thing is, then people go, oh, that's what I need to regulate my nervous system.

[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're someone that's literally running a million miles an hour, that gives you anxiety.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then you start, then your spiral gets worse.

[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, something's wrong with me.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is not working.

[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I don't know how to regulate.

[SPEAKER_02]: I can never calm down.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it just keeps getting worse and worse.

[SPEAKER_02]: And that's because

[SPEAKER_02]: What works for somebody like Sally suit on the road?

[SPEAKER_02]: Is it going to work for you when it comes to nervous system?

[SPEAKER_02]: It's not copy and paste.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's so important.

[SPEAKER_00]: So two things I tell all my clients, what is your baseline state?

[SPEAKER_00]: So what is that default state?

[SPEAKER_00]: Your home away from home.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like I mentioned, when I was real high performing go, I was that fighter flight anxiety all the time.

[SPEAKER_00]: When all my health issues came on, I went through a breakup.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was such a deep freeze.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they're, you're not going to feel stressed.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're probably not feeling a lot of anything.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're not, you're like, whatever, don't care.

[SPEAKER_00]: You might think this is a flow state, but this might just be a shutdown state.

[SPEAKER_00]: I see a lot of business owners go here as well, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sure, literally, you've a lot of clients because this state,

[SPEAKER_00]: And you even went there with your pregnancy, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, where are you right now?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because when you have health issues going on, you're low energy.

[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to do anything.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to know there's nothing wrong with you.

[SPEAKER_00]: It is your state right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: Your thoughts are just going to be slower.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be more dark and more gray, even in your look through your eyes, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So you have to know one, your home away from home state and fix that.

[SPEAKER_00]: First and foremost, and then also know your stressors as in what brings you up and down, what we call the ladder, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: What brings you into more stress anxiety, what brings you into more that hide and shut down, and what are the right tools to do it the right time to change that?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because you also need, I think sometimes you need someone to like mirror it back to you because it's when you're not so much I think in finer flight, but in shutdown you do, because in shutdown you're just like, I don't care, but I think like whatever you want to do is fine.

[SPEAKER_00]: totally.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and honestly, like with my roommate, it can be as simple as getting on a phone call with someone else because usually there's a lot in co-regulation, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And in someone else's nervous system, if they're excited or speaking life into whatever it might be, that in and of itself can help you.

[SPEAKER_00]: So many of these issues are also because of isolation and loneliness.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me started there, but

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's a lot to it when it doesn't need to be complicated.

[SPEAKER_00]: You just need to know how to support yourself.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Do you ever find somebody that's just never anxious?

[SPEAKER_02]: Sir, any person out there that like just never has anxious thoughts is never stressed like

[SPEAKER_02]: duck off a water or water off a duck's back.

[SPEAKER_02]: Does that person exist?

[SPEAKER_02]: Like the people that say, I'm not sure.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's not my thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a lot of people who say that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I think even myself, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: When I'm like, no, I'm cool.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty good with all of it.

[SPEAKER_00]: You'll notice by your thoughts, the pace of your thoughts, and also if you keep thinking the same thing, I don't like that is

[SPEAKER_00]: something that needs to be dealt with, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: If these thoughts are looping, that's a level of stress.

[SPEAKER_00]: So even a lot of people who don't have maybe stress in your body, you might have negative thoughts, you know, self-hatred thoughts, like, I'm not good enough thoughts, or they keep repeating, and they're causing overthinking.

[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing I find is people will appear, especially if you're on phone calls or speaking to them, really cool, comic-clected.

[SPEAKER_00]: You think they're amazing, but actually they have a lot of freeze responses in their body.

[SPEAKER_00]: They're actually fairly shut down.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you think they're cool in chill city, but they're actually inside pretty shut down.

[SPEAKER_02]: people tell me now that I'm like very cool, calming collected, but they wouldn't have said that.

[SPEAKER_02]: I could put you to go.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_00]: All we said actually, you're cool, calming collected.

[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe on our calls, but if you ever asked my dad, he would have been like, that is the complete opposite of, yeah, she is not cool, calming collected.

[SPEAKER_02]: You feel so chill to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: Always.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was the performer in me because I did.

[SPEAKER_02]: I have to go on stage so much in perform.

[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so I would have to like whether you're freaking out whether you're nervous.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's like smile, play, sing, whatever.

[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so I think that's probably where that came from.

[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, if you would have asked my family, they probably, you know, they would've never said that ever.

[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: So how would it come up for you, normally?

[SPEAKER_00]: Like is it, if you win the performer, is it inside your freaking out?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I would be inside because but you couldn't because like especially like if you're singing like your voice is your instrument no matter how freaking out you have are you you can't because it would mess with your vibrato like your air your air flow and all of that so you'd have to like figure out how to like mind over matter push it down down right so it was only you know those people who knew me or you know talk to

[SPEAKER_02]: who, like, oh my gosh, she goes a million miles an hour and she never slows down and she never stops talking.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is wild because I think these are our most successful people in society, in the world, in businesses, those kind of people.

[SPEAKER_00]: You push it down for so many years and then all of a sudden everyone kind of explodes and they're like, what are all these things and emotions?

[SPEAKER_00]: And we saw this big time during the pandemic.

[SPEAKER_00]: all these people wouldn't be able to push it down for so long, create massive success because you actually can't feel it.

[SPEAKER_00]: You actually can't really feel connected to your body because it's so far down.

[SPEAKER_00]: How to deal with stuff?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, pandemic was interesting for a lot of people in the sense like made or break a lot.

[SPEAKER_02]: So tell me who can work with you if they want to and how they can reach out to you.

[SPEAKER_02]: I obviously highly recommend Kara.

[SPEAKER_02]: I've been working with Kara since the land in was like what two months old three months old?

[SPEAKER_02]: I just remember like I would voice message you when he was nursing in the middle of the night because you were in Australia.

[SPEAKER_02]: So that was daytime for you.

[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, you're like, why are you messaging me at three a.m.

[SPEAKER_02]: your time and I'm like, why I'm nursing?

[SPEAKER_02]: So when else am I gonna do it?

[SPEAKER_00]: It was probably some of my favorite memories still.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have so many pictures of Landon.

[SPEAKER_00]: He knew my name, and he sent it to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't know me as much because it wasn't the beginning stages of building your business.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, no.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, awesome, Kelly, and that's a different breed of child.

[SPEAKER_02]: He can't be on costs with me.

[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone would quit.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so I used to do a lot more like in the weeds business coaching for people starting and growing their business.

[SPEAKER_00]: I do less like the step by step stuff now, but a lot more on

[SPEAKER_00]: expanding your capacity to receive money to be a high performer, how to manage your stress, how to manage it all, money blocks, sabotage patterns, so I do a lot more on that side of things now.

[SPEAKER_00]: As you are, whether it's in business, whether it's career, but like if you are coming up with any of the things that we talked about today, really how to create a happy, healthy, sustainable life business, and so on.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: We've done some Instagram.

[SPEAKER_00]: Although I haven't been very quietly.

[SPEAKER_00]: We have some secret things in the background going on, but you can reach out to my Instagram.

[SPEAKER_02]: Which is a new DM.

[SPEAKER_02]: What's your Instagram handle?

[SPEAKER_00]: Kara Baroney.

[SPEAKER_00]: Kara Baroney.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's easy enough.

[SPEAKER_02]: We'll link it.

[SPEAKER_02]: We'll link it.

[SPEAKER_02]: I've had clients work with you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: But it's kind of really, really on the fourth.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: I guess you tell me what are the top things that you work with me on now?

[SPEAKER_00]: As we've evolved.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so in the beginning, yes, somebody asked me what my business coach was and they were like starting out their business.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, I don't actually think you would be a good fit for this right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, because we don't talk like

[SPEAKER_02]: putting things together.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, sometimes we do.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm gonna, I actually will defer that to my husband on what we work on the most because he always is like, I can tell a difference when you're working with Carol versus not working with Carol because he's like you are much more, you can handle anything.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like because when things come at me, I'm just like, oh, it's fine.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like I can handle it without

[SPEAKER_02]: freaking out basically so his biggest things are like you are way less stressed so like if something comes up and you're worried about it he's like before it would be weeks of you like trying to like work through it mentally get through it he's like now it's like twenty four hours so like that's a massive like massive massive ship shift and then also I'm just so much calmer I know you guys think I'm so calm but he sees the other side

[SPEAKER_02]: but I would say that's the biggest thing is because I feel like I hold capacity for literally hundreds of women every single year and it's a lot of space to hold for people and I need somebody to help me manage my mind just so I don't get caught in the weeds because I think that it's hard to be a bird's eye view of what's going on

[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, we'll get on our calls or we'll do whatever.

[SPEAKER_02]: I just kind of brain dump like, this is what's going well.

[SPEAKER_02]: This is where I'm struggling, but I don't know how they're connected, you know, and then we'll go from there because I've just let go of the reins of that.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like, because I feel like the more I learn about mindset because I work with so many people on this.

[SPEAKER_02]: You can't mind that yourself.

[SPEAKER_02]: You just get all twisted up.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know what you said?

[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's actually huge for anyone listening that we're never going to take out the stressors of life.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, like you have a third child coming, no matter what that's stressful, managing a business, being a mom, like you were never gonna get rid of the stress, but you increase your capacity to hold it all.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's really the most important part is like being able to hold things without the overall and the anxiety freaking out, to a hundred percent.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll put your handle down and definitely reach out to her.

[SPEAKER_02]: It will be well with your time.

[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for hopping on.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you!

[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for listening to today's episode of balancing hormones naturally.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you found this helpful, I would love for you to share it with a friend and post it on your stories and tag balancing hormones naturally podcasts so we can get this message out.

[SPEAKER_01]: You can find me on Instagram, at Leah, underscore, BRU-EG, and I would absolutely love to hear from you.
