Hey, guys, welcome to the Bible Guys. And I don't if you know this, you guys probably don't mean Jeff know this. Yeah, we're turning one hundred today. By that would be in one hundred episodes, one hundred episodes of the Bible Guys. So we started off a year ago. I mean, we're right at the one year mark now too. We started off a year ago HC Daily, We did like one hundred and fifty episodes, started off with Peter. Yeah, yeah, and we did like one hundred and fifty episodes with that, and then now here we are. We switched to eight to the Bible Guys, and we've done a hundred episodes. It's just amazing that people keep listening. That's right. I don't know why. We initially only intended to do just like how many weeks was that six weeks? Yeah, that's what that's what it was. And they just won't let us stop, and they they I think it's Chris. I think it's Chris Starball. People love a daily dose to Christarball. That's right. Yeah, yeah, but you've been taking his place today this week. This week is pretty great. We're great. It's the voice of Chris, but I'll try my best. Yeah. Well, he'll be back with us next week, so that's right. But he decided to blow off the hundredth anniversary. That's right, one hundredth episode. Yep. But this is Jeff and I'm Kyle and we're the Bible guys. Okay, so you did say obviously we're one hundredth episode. Really excited about that. But I want to ask for quick so can you just tell I mean, Chris, he's watching flag football, is what you just told me. Right, Well, so he had an opportunity, it'll have already been done by the time. Okay, Yeah, had an opportunity to go to the NFL Pro Bowl. Yeah, and this year the Pro Bowl is flag football. They're not playing full contact. Yes, so too many people get hurt in the Pro Bowl and all that kind of stuff. So, you know, because it's easy to make fun of because he's not here, actually, just take a moment. I mean, what do we like about Chris? What do you enjoy about Chris? That's gonna be like, hey, and after we'll just put ten minutes later and then he'll. Be like whatever comes down. Chris like a brother to me. He really is we have so many things in common. I love his passion. He's passionate about everything. Yeah, everything whatever, are the worst man? Well, we knew when we started to come up with the idea of this podcast, especially the Bible guys. We have this bit what is what is Chris? What make Chris? And we're talking about ideas for brainstorming. It took me two seconds come up with that idea. I was like, Oh, I just know because when you're around Chris, we didn't realize he has very strong opinions about. A lot of things. Yeah, and so, and it's his passion. His enthusiasms are great. I think he has a great perspective. And personally, Chris is one of my favorite Bible teachers. I love when he speaks on the weekends and all that kind of stuff. So yeah, and it's one of those things too, I would say, sometimes when you get around people who teach a Bible so often, you know it's it's just one of those things you wonder how much of it's just rehearsed or whatever. And you and I both know Chris loves Jesus, and I think that's a great compliment to somebody who's out there doing misery. He loves Jesus, you. Know, and we on purpose in this podcast, we don't rehearse these it's conversational, right. We we wanted to be a couple of guys talking about the Bible and fun and practical ways, right, and honestly, you all to do a great job because I think you can. You you you know, this is this is now. You are somebody who owns it. You love it, you have so much insight. And then he also he can take anything you say. And oh I got a story about that. Yeah, so it was nineteen eighty eight. You're like, how do you man? That's crazy? Okay, So anyways, getting back to it, Okay, I want to just share a couple of social media shoutouts because one hundredth episode I want to share. Yeah, you know, a couple of things people had to say. So there's somebody named kim B. Whoever she is, kim B. She said one g Oh my gosh, I love you guys so much. I haven't missed an episode. Yet and you're the highlight of my day. Oh wow, one hundred episodes. So kim kim B, kim B, let's help je out. Yeah, that's great. And then Deborah said's incredible love today's podcast. It was very enlightening. You put me in check and I needed it, thank you. Yeah, okay, well, we don't want to hurt people, but we want to help people. Sometimes friends have to call each other out, that's right. And then somebody recently, I think it was last week, said, uh, today was it was all caps, by the way, so you know that they meant it today was really really great. I needed this. Oh good, Yes, that that was awesome. Well good. So those are the three compliments that we've had in these first hundred episode. We hope we get three more compliments in the next time. Says three of I'm sure many don't recall any of them. No, that's great, all right. Hey, we wouldn't do this if people weren't listening. Huh. So both Chris and I are plenty busy. We're not looking for something to fill our time, but we do it because people are listening. And you know, it's really cool that we get to do this with you. It's really cool that we could to spend you know, twenty minutes a day or so and just look at what the Bible has to say, and it's just amazing how many people say things like that. It's funny to me. We went out to dinner a while back, walk into a restaurant and this nine year old girl come up and told me, Hey, you're Jeff. You're from the Bible Guys. You've been watching it slimes you doesn't go to Heredi's church, but recognize this. Her and her mom been attention to Bible guys. So it's just fun. It's fun that we get to do it together. And it's incredibly incredibly humbling to me. That people listen and keep It's funny because we're one of the things we're doing with our church that we're part of. We're doing an event anyways. We're giving away a couple of bobbleheads, the bobble Guys, the bobble Guys, Bibbleheads. We got some shirts stuff and that maybe something we ended up having to start a store. If we get this, if we get people like this who are saying today was really really great. I needed this, maybe they'd want. To buy a shirt. Maybe, so talk about that. That's that's that's in a connect night. It's actually happening when this is being filmed. It'd be the night of so if. You haven't gotten tickets yet, I can't guarantee that there are spots available, but here too church dot com. And it's a whole event that is designed to really highlight some of the really cool ways that tonight, Yes, tonight in Sterling Heights and won in MLA City as well. So if people want to tend, they still can, it's depending on whether tickets are available. Seven to eight thirty. And just in one of the really cool things we're doing, we're doing a live u uh you know, airing of this show right in front of people, guys live. The Bibble Guys Live featuring the Bobble Guys. There's a game, there's and you know, there's a lot to it to be great. Give me about it, all right, So going to chapter ten, and if you could just give a little context to you know, for anybody's maybe just coming. In on this Friday listening. Y. Yeah, So Romans Chapter ten is kind of now he you know, he pushes with an idea and then he kind of summarizes the idea and it culminates in a big statement. Then he pushes for a while and then comes with another big statement. Chapter ten is the big statement for the last couple of chapters. So nothing will ever separate us from the love of God. Even though you know, I feel like I can't do what I want to do, and I do the things I don't want to do, Nothing's gonna separate me from God's love. Then he goes into God's election and God's choice and that God is fair and that we shouldn't judge God on how he does things. And then finally he comes to this point where he has said in the previous chapter, I'm willing to go to hell in order for my countrymen to come to faith in Christ. And he picks back up with that idea, and now he really drives how does the gospel work. He's kind of clarifying for people how the gospel actually works, because in chapter nine, the whole purpose of chapter nine was to say a lot of people think they're on their way to heaven just because they come from a certain family group. It's that's not true. Let me tell you how the gospel really works. And that's what chapter ten is. I'm excited, all right, your brothers and sisters, the long give in my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel. To be saved. I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. They don't understand God's way of making people write with himself. Refusing to accept God's way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law. For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God. For Moses writes that the law's way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands. But faith's way of getting right with God says, don't say in your heart who will go up to heaven to bring Christ down to earth? And don't say who will go down to the place of the dead to bring Christ back to life again. In fact, it says, the message is very close at hand. It is on your lips and in your heart. And that message is the very message about faith that we preach, which is simply this. If you openly declare that Jesus Lord, and believe in your heart that God raise him from the dead, you will be saved. Or it is by believing your heart that you are made right with God. And it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the scriptures tell us, anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced. You and gentile are the same in that respect. They have the same Lord who gives generously to all who call on him, or everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the scriptures say, how beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news? Everyone welcomes the good news. For Isaiah, the prophet said, Lord, who has believed our message? So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the good news about Christ. That's the final partneryeah, yeah, yeah, that section. So then he goes on. He has a few more verses about talking about how God exposed the people of Israel to the Gospel, But that's the big summary there. So what a powerful passage, Because have you ever had somebody ask you, so, Kyle, how do I go to heaven, how do I become a Christian all the time. Maybe one of the best passages in the Bible is right here, you know, verse eight. It says, the message is very close at hand, it's on your lips and in your heart. And he said, that message is very message about faith that we preach. If you openly declare that Jesus is the Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. And then he goes into he unpacks why that is. Believing in your heart is how you're made right with God. And by declaring your faith, you're saved. And then he says, there's no difference between Jewish and Gentile in this respect. So remember the previous chapter was all about how the Jews said, oh no, we get to have it in a different way, and the Gentiles can't even go to heaven. He goes, no, that's not one way, right. There's all kinds of sons of Abraham and only a few when you know, we're made right with God or were chosen. So in this aspect now, he said, even in the and we didn't really highlight this yesterday. To be honest with you, but in verse thirty in chapter nine Yesterday, he says, what does this all mean? And then he said, even though the gentiles were not trying to follow God's standards, they're made right with God by faith right. So whether you're a Jew or a Gentile, you're both made right. Not based on what family you came from or the background you have. You're made right with God by faith alone. Faith alone. So you declare with your mouth, and you believe in your heart that Christ is raised from the dead. When you declare with your mouth that Jesus's Lord, what you're saying is Jesus, you're the king. I'm not the king. You're surrendering. You're surrendering your sin, You're surrendering your own agenda, You're surrendering your own identity to Christ. And say, now, I'm not the king in my life. You're the king. Yes. And one of things I would say too, is and that's a faith element we do talk often, even about like the Romans Road, which is kind of like the Gospel. It's the good news. It's the fact that we're sinners, we're saved by grace. But this is one part of it. This is this verse nine here and I think I would just encourage people to this could be a verse to even like memorize. Right right now, you openly declared that Jesus Lord, believe in your heart that God raised from the dead, you'll be saved. That's something that like when it comes to that question you said, how many people ask that question? We should be ready to give an account for the hope that we have, really be ready to share. And it's in these types of when you when you know this, when this is written on your heart, and you give an account of why you're saved and what salvation looks like. We should be able to share this with people because we live in a day and age where we're kind of post biblical truth, right, and so people they just don't understand these things. So we have to remember that this is kind of a foundational statement for those of us who call ourselves Christians to the Gospel to declare He's Lord and that he was raised from the dead. That's how you're saved. So yeah, and then verse thirteen says everyone who calls them the name of Lord will be saved. Right, So he's talking whether Jew or gentile, no matter what your background is, no matter what you've done, no matter how far from God you feel like you are. Everyone who says Jesus, I want you to be the King, the Lord of my life. And I believe that you paid the price on the cross and you rose again to be able to forgive my sin. That's enough. And everyone who calls them the name of the Lord in that way will be saved. But isn't that too simple? Well, it's simple for us, it's not simple for God. It's incredibly complex. It's so complex that for those that have been following with us all the way through the Book of Romans, you go, this book's really complex. The whole book was to get us to this point right here, right, and then from this point on he pivots. He talks a little bit about Israel, and then from chapter twelve on he just talks about what it means to live as a Christian. Yeah. Right, So this is the culmination of this very complex Book of Romans. And so, yeah, salvation is very complex. For God. He had to overcome the fact that he said, if you sin, you die, and so he's just God's a just God. We do sin. We did die. We died spiritually, we die physically, this world is broken. And then God began this narrative. He began this storyline through Abraham's family, promising to send the Messiah to solve this sin problem. And over thousands of years he taught us the idea sacrifice, the innocent dies for the guilty, all these things, and finally he gets to Jesus and orchestrates all the extraordinary details where God himself winds up becoming the solution for our sin. It's incredibly complex, fam It's not. It's easy for us. It's Jesus, I do want you to be my king, and Jesus, I do believe that you died and rose again for my to pay the price for my sins. That's easy for me, it is, but it's hard for God. Absolutely incredibly complex. But that's the hard part is I think so many people they want to know because everything else in life to become a member of something, to become you know, a a an elite club or a status. So we talked earlier about delta, Right, you have to do this and get the great points, and it's like it's all about all the things right, and you can you can kind of say, look what I've done. Look what I've done. I've gotten to the status because of all the things I've done, And here he's like, no, no, just everyone who believes in the name of the Lord will be saying like it's like it's certain, Like wait, that's is there more to it? Is? There? Is there like a there a loopholes or an asterisk? Are they going to charge me a? Am I going to get charge a late fee? Like there's all those things you want to know about. And I just find it really cool and I agree with you. I love that he's kind of bringing things to kind of a conclusion. Others there's so much more that he's still going to talk about, but I like that this is kind of where it's going to and what he's been talking about. Yeah, these these first eleven chapters are are so intense because he's unpacking the Jewish side of Christianity, the Jewish side of the promise of the Messiah, is unpacking that, unraveling it from a gentile perspective. This is written to Jews in Rome that he hadn't met yet, and so this is a pretty pretty complex book, but it all boils down to this passage here that essentially salvation is by fai right, it's by faith. It's not your lineage, it's not your behavior. Those are the two big things he's fighting because they believe, well, we behave in a certain way. I keep all the rules. So if I keep the law, I get to go to heaven. Or well, I get to go to heaven because I was born into the right family, and he goes. Neither of those are true. And by the way, the Gospels available for everybody, for Jews and gentiles, and it's the same way anybody who makes it to heaven, that we all will only make it the same way, and that is through Jesus Christ. You know, you ever hear the phrase the ground is level at the cross, right, and meaning there's none of us coming in higher, none of us coming in lower. We all come in at the foot of the cross the same way, and that Jesus. So really, what Paul shows us here is that our response to what Jesus did in faith saves us. But Jesus is the hero of the whole story. Right, Jesus did it all. Jesus made it all happen. And then we know the Holy Spirit draws us to him. Even that is not of ourselves. It's God's spirit drawing us to him that makes that possible, and so it makes him the hero and we only have to respond to this. So let me ask you this real quick. Because we read this and we see this good news, you know, we can kind of read this. This is but when he's writing this, this is extremely controversial, extremely. So why is it they wanted to kill him over it? Exactly? Exactly? So what about this this message you think is the part that really just I mean to the Jews, the what was the part about this that. Were so controversial? We all tend to get very rooted in the things that our culture tells us is true and right. We've decided that this is the right way, and we can't tolerate somebody to tell us something different. So they had become so convinced that their opinions about God and their belief system around their laws was the only way that they could not see that all of those things were only pointing to God's solution. So the law was to show you you can't be perfect, and quite honestly, every Jew would know secretly in the heart they're not person. So then they'd find all these mental hurdles to jump through or hoops to jump through to kind of justify why they did what they did or whatever to forgive themselves. But they all knew that they were guilty of sin. So that's what he's pointing out. He's really he's kind of touching that nerve, picking that nerve, right, and then he says, but the good news is Jesus paid the price. The problem was they had killed Jesus, and so there's this issue of what do we do with that, how do we justify putting our faith in the guy that we killed? So the extent you have to basically admit that it was all. Yeah, he's writing to Romans, yep, so the Romans are guilty. He's writing to the Jews in Rome, and so basically all of humanity. He's representing the Jews and the Gentiles. You're both standing there guilty. I'm not saying Jews are particularly guilty here. I think that's a wrong thing to say. But he's writing to Romans and the Jews, and he's goinging all of humanity is guilty of killing God. So now what are you going to do? Either you're the worst of humans or it really is God's love. And that's what he does is he begins to unravel this idea that it's all about God's love. Jesus is the hero. So it's controversial because it kind of picks the nerve of their guilt. But it's not controversial when you begin to realize this is the culmination of everything that got the whole story of the Bible up to this point. He puts it all in order, so and then he just puts it down to you have to come to this point where you believe. And so this last portion for me, I would say, I feel like my greatest compulsion for kingdom focus in my life comes from these verses. But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? How can they believe in him if they've never heard about him? How can they hear about him unless someone tells him. I will anyone go and tell them without being sent right yep. And so we have to understand Jesus already sent us. His last words before it goes to heaven is that you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judeas, Samaria, in the other most parts of the world. Jesus' last command was go and make disciples of all nations. And so the last thing he told us to he sent us not just his disciples at that point when he's making that, it's all of his followers, all the believers, you and me, we are sent. Somebody was sent to us, right, the gospel came for two thousand years on the way to us. Somebody was sent to us. Whoever told you? And now you are sent to somebody else. It wasn't just supposed to end with you, because how are they going to believe if they haven't heard, And how are they going to hear if nobody tells them. And so instead of arguing theology, instead of getting in and learning all the big Bible words, say there's value in all those things. But the greatest thing is to understand. If our heart would break like Paul's heart, I'm willing to go to hell for everybody else. If our heart would then go, Okay, God, how do I stop people from going to hell? Because your message is such good news? But they don't know if they haven't heard, if they haven't heard this, that Jesus is the only way. Then I got to go tell him, and he said, you've all been sent, And then he says, not everyone welcomes the good news. But he says, so faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the good news about Christ. Right, so good, there's another passage. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So you and I are not trying to come and bring our own message, We're bringing Christ's message. So then that's the value you reference the Romans road, right, that's the value of memorizing some scriptures. When you're trying to tell somebody how to go to heaven, your words about how to go to heaven don't matter. It's faith by the words of God. And so so you're not trying to win them over with a sales pitch to get to heaven with your own best ideas and words. Instead, learn some of God's words. And so this passage here that says, you know, declare that Jesus is Lord, and believe that he rose from the dead, and you will be saved. Teach people those right, So I would always say Romans three twenty three. Tell people everybody's a sinner, right, all fall short of the glory of God. Romans six twenty three. Either wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ the Lord Romans five eight. But God demonstrates his own love for us, and this while we were still sinners. Christ died for us, and then I would almost always bring them here to this point. Believe that Jesus rose from the dead. Ask him to be the Lord of your life, because everyone who calls them the name of the Lord will be saved if I can just take them down this Roman's road and give them scripture. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. How will I ever hear the word of God? Somebody has to tell him. Who's to somebody. Whoever's reading the passage is to somebody. So if you just read that passage, you're the somebody God wants to use in somebody else's life. Yeah, And honestly, I love the fact that this good news kind of emanated from a few people, right who witness Jesus, well, actually a lot of people, and I'm witnessing his death bearer of resurrection. But then the fact that we're still talking about him two thousand years ago, two years later, it's crazy because then he's saying to this thing that could have been I mean, it could have been shut down to the Romans, they could have been so mad at this, and this thing could been shut down, and that would have been a human thing, right, it would have been shut down because it's human thing. But it's a God thing. And therefore here we are to about of two thousand years later because they're people, they're faithful men and women going to go and share the good news of Jesus. And I just I love that when I see something like this, I'm just like, man, this is just a reminder from me that we are following a God who this isn't This isn't a human thing, This is not by human effort. This is a God thing. And it's it's in acts of talks about how if it's of God, you won't be able to stop them, right, And it's just a reminder he you will be to stop the good news. So faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. It's why we do the Bible Guys podcast. What a great one hundredth episode is to come in on this passage, because it's why we do this is we want your faith to grow stronger. And the way that your faith grows stronger is by spending time in God's word every day. So good job you guys. Hear God's word and that's going to build your faith. And then also faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. When you take the words of God to other petrol, then God wants you to bring faith to them. And the way you do that as you guys work, sounds great. It's great, great passage. Yeah for being supporters for one hundred episode and again, if you know, if you were maybe just here for this for the first time, the Bible guys dot com subscribe.
