About Meg & The Daily Pep!
I’m Meg and I’m the host of The Daily Pep! and The Couragemakers Podcast and founder of The Rebel Rousers. I’m a coach, writer and all-round rebel-rouser for creative and multi-passionate women to do the things only they can do and build a wholehearted life. When I'm not recording episodes, writing bullshit-free Letters of Rebellion to my wonderful Couragemakers community or hosting workshops/group programmes, I'm usually covered in paint or walking my wonderfully weird cockapoo Merlin.

Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Wednesday to you. So for this hump day I thought I would pop in with a gentle reminder, or a firm one if you need it, to quit berating yourself about how you feel and maybe just tend to that emotion instead. Around here we are curious. We love personal development. And I know I am definitely not alone in always needing to know the why behind something. But today I'm giving us permission to not know the reason. For example, today I feel absolutely fucking exhausted and the quickest place my head often goes to is is trying to justify that. I do a run through of the past couple of days and I almost pass moral judgment on myself as to whether I have done enough to be as tired as I feel.

And for both of us, I just want to say fuck that. What if I'm just really, really tired and the next logical step is to find ways to get more rest? What if you're grumpy because you just woke up grumpy? And maybe rather than berating yourself for it or trying to dig deep and find all the reasons, you find a way to have a less people y day. Maybe grump around for a bit or find something that makes you smile, whatever you feel like you need right now. Or maybe you just don't feel motivated to do anything and rather than trying to force yourself to feel something that you don't feel, or shitting on yourself because of it, or trying to find the deep, deep reason, maybe it's about saying, fuck it, I'm not feeling it. So I'm going to figure out what are the absolutely essential things I need to do, what is the bare minimum and just half ass those. Sometimes it can be really helpful to have the answers, but sometimes it can be more helpful to give ourselves what we need. And I really truly do know that is easier said than done. So if you want to put this into action today, have a think about how you feel and then how you can address that need.

See if you can try and skip over all the mental gymnastics that we do to figure out why we feel a certain way, which includes passing judgment on ourselves for feeling a certain way, and just think about what you need instead. Sometimes we spend our precious time and energy figuring out what's wrong with us, or trying to fix ourselves when that time and energy might have been much better spent, and finding a way to tend to that need instead, even if it is our minimum viable effort, because that absolutely counts. You are a human being. You are not a machine. You are doing so much better than you think you are. And you deserve the care and attention that you give to the loved ones in your life. So see if you can give yourself some of that today. I'll see you tomorrow.
