Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. For today's daily pep, I wanted to pop in and remind you that you get to do it your own way. For a lot of us, myself included, we have that inner good girl, where we wanna make sure that we're doing the right thing in the right way, and we wanna know how we can get the gold stars. Now that can serve us really well, for example, in school, but it doesn't necessarily serve us in real life. Or what it does, but we end up satisfying other people rather than ourselves. That can look like trying to fit into moulds no matter how rebellious we are deep down. It can look like getting hyperfixated on the perfect way to begin or the right way of doing things. And in doing that, what I think we end up doing is bypassing our own sense of intuition and what works for us.
Sometimes we don't even acknowledge that we could do it another way or we could do it our own way because we can't imagine what that would look like, or we can't imagine being allowed to do that. Now when it comes to building a life we love, it is rarely as linear or as step by step as we would like it to be. We know that when it comes to chasing our dreams, it can often look chaotic. It can involve a lot of just chance things happening. And counterintuitively, sometimes when we try a bit less or put a lot less pressure on it, we can end up moving so much more further forward. One of the things so many of us care about deeply around here is making a difference. And I'm a true believer that we're all capable of making a unique difference in the world. And that starts with realizing that we are unique, that maybe we work in different ways, and leaning into working with ourselves rather than against ourselves.
Just because something has always been done one way doesn't mean it has to be done that way. And maybe it is time for a change. And just because everybody else is doing something in a particular way doesn't mean that they're right. It does take courage to do things differently. But let's face it, for many of us around here, we tend to feel like square pegs in round holes anyway. And what would life look like if we leaned into our difference and leaned into our quirky brains rather than away from them? So that is my food for thought for you today. And whatever decisions you're making at the moment, allow yourself to just get a bit wild and think about what you would do if you gave yourself permission. Permission to be yourself, permission to fail, and permission to not give a fuck what anybody else thinks.
Happy noodling on this, and I'll see you tomorrow.
