The Viktor Wilt Show daily recap! If you miss the show weekdays from 6A-10A MST, you've come to the right place.
Hi. What's up, people? It's
Speaker 1: Victor Wilt. Welcome to Monday. Hope you had a good weekend. Mine. yeah, It was a weekend. Good riddance to it. Try again next weekend, huh? They can't all be winners. It was fine, I guess. I don't know what happened this weekend.
Friday. I Didn't get enough sleep. The usual with me. I don't ever get enough sleep.
No matter how much I try to plot it out or try, just doesn't happen. We'll try to go to bed tonight early. We'll see. Uh so let's see.
Friday night. Yeah. That was about what happened there.
Um, no, that was Thursday night. Came into work Friday, very sluggish and cranky. Took a nap after work Friday.
That turned into a dumpster fire. Let's see, Saturday. What went on Saturday? Did get a little bit of a nap in. I then went to the Sam Barber show at the Mountain America Center. It was fine.
I don't know. I knew when we got seated, like, uh, this is gonna be a bit of a dumpster fire. Won't get into it. But the the show is fine.
Sam Barber just kind of suffers from the every song sounds the same syndrome. It was good. All right, it was good. But I don't know.
Yeah, he has a few good songs. And then what happened yesterday? I I don't even remember. I guess I've blocked the weekend out of my head. Because I wanted to get all pumped for Monday. Yay. I Can't wait to get out of here today. What's it gonna be like today? Another scorcher?
Yeah. Well, it's not like I did any yard work or accomplished anything over the weekend. So who needs to get anything done today? I did do a little bit of laundry.
You know, there were some accomplishments. Today looking at a high 99. Um it's it's gonna be hot like every day moving forward, so plot those chores out for night time. I I don't know how some of you guys are out mowing your lawn in the you know peak sun overhead time of day. Like, it was miserable outside yesterday. I was lasting like five seconds outside at a time.
Just like get me out of here. This sucks. So, yes, uh, extreme heat warning still in effect. Fantastic. Oh well, at least we got fun stuff going on around here like ticket giveaways, hooking up tickets to Papa Roach.
That show's coming up in like a week and a half. Oh, and I woke up with my uh throat hurting just a little bit. Becca was complaining yesterday, she had a little bit of a sore throat.
So knowing my luck, I got no PTO, got no time for it, and uh might be getting down with the sickness. Great! Happy Monday, everybody. It's alright, we're gonna crush it, get it done, and it'll it'll be over with. And then uh, there's always Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday, and oh, Mondays suck. But we're gonna get through it, okay?
We're gonna crush it down together somehow. Alright, I guess since my throat's bothering me, I will uh consume liquid. See if that helps. Oh yeah, I forgot to grab more ibuprofen too.
Screw it. Just remembered that over the weekend I shot Spencer from the band an email about having a chat about horror, and he was totally down. So I need to get my home studio in order. Hey, That's funny.
Get the house in order. Oh well, one of these days. Uh, I hope Monday's going okay for you. Monday's the worst. Yuck. Alright.
What do we got here? Well, I did mention that we're doing some ticket giveaways this week, so let me tell you how that's working out. We got Papa Roach tickets up for grabs. That show is coming up really quick. One week from Thursday. Port of Hell Trust Ampheater in Pocatello. Should be a great time. Papa Roach with Set It Off and Autumn Kings. Uh tickets are on sale now, but as a last resort, you can try to win them. Listen for back to back tracks from Papa Roach set it off or Autumn Kings.
That's easy. You hear two Papa Roach in a Be caller number 20 when the second song starts. Same goes for Set It Off or Autumn Kings.
And then if you don't win, go to our website Kbear.fm and buy the tickets. Papa Roach always kills it. It'll be a really fun time. It's coming up one week from Thursday.
Papa Roach set it off in Autumn Kings at the Port and Feltrust Am Theater. Keep listening to Win with K Bear, but don't just bank on it. Buy your tickets if you need to, because we want to see you at the show. Shout out to anybody who had a bad weekend. I'm sorry. Sound like the weekend was just crap for uh a number of people, and that sucks. I don't know. I guess it was just a weekend where you could not win.
Yeah. Something in the air last weekend. Hopefully this week is better, and next weekend is better as well. Is there any plans next weekend? Any crap that I gotta do?
I don't think so. I made plans for you know the following week. We got the Papa Roach show. There's the Poppy show coming up. Hopefully can make it out to that. But this weekend, is there anything happening?
Please God know. I've just had my fair share of people lately. Like I am a people person. I do pretty good out in public. I enjoy chatting it up with folks and things like that.
But after Riverfest, after Riverfest and the 4th of July, being packed in the sun with 200 plus thousand people. I I was like, I kind of had it. I had it with people. And then over the weekend I got uh in some situations where there was people, and I'm like, oh yeah, I remember now.
I've had it with people. The Sam Barber show didn't go too bad as far as uh well, I guess there were elements about the crowd that were annoying to me, but you know, no nobody like walked up to me and gave me the old you ain't from around here, are you? I did find it amusing seeing how many people were roaming around in their cowboy hats and Daisy Dukes, considering that uh country radio, aside from 105 the hawk, doesn't play Sam Barber, but that's how radio works. They like to latch on to events and go, hey.
We can get ourselves out here and you know stand in front of people, pretend we support these artists. Yeah, but uh like I said earlier, it was a fine enough show. Just I don't know, Sam Barber needs to mix it up a little bit. He has some really good songs, but I would imagine it was kind of like if you go see ACDC live. No offense, ACDC fans, but you go to an ACDC show, every song's gonna sound the same. Alright, it's just how it is.
Sam Barber, you go to the show, every song's gonna sound the same. Well, I posted about this on my Facebook page over the weekend. There's a country artist named Charlie Crockett. Uh, we play him a lot on 105 Outlaw, which you could pick up by getting the 105 Outlaw app, or listening on 105.5 HD2. It's kind of an alternative country station, and there's a lot of Charlie Crockett on there.
Uh he's very very traditional country sounding like 1950s style country sounding. You want to hear a little bit? I know we got some in the system here, but apparently I don't know how to spell Charlie, and uh ended up way, way out of where I needed to be here. Alright, where's our Charlie Crockett here? Too many Charlies out there. Holy crap, there are a lot of Charlies. Okay, let's just uh play a little sample of this here.
Speaker 2: Anyway, Um Fire Boy's story out anyway.
Speaker 1: I think Charlie Crockett is uh pretty good myself as far as what he does, but I also think he's a wuss. Now, he's had a little bit of a a feud going on with a number of other country artists. Where, you know, they're calling him a fake cowboy.
He's calling them a fake cowboy. Back and forth, blah blah blah. Well, we're not gonna get into all that.
What we're gonna get into is his recent tour that was announced. Which I remember when I saw this, I thought it was weird. Charlie Crockett had Twin Temple opening for him. Now, Twin Temple, some of you may have seen them live. They've opened for Ghost a number of times in Salt Lake City, and as far as openers for Ghost go, they're probably the perfect opener because they're a really weird band. Twin Temple, they like they played doo-wop music, like from the 50s.
Maybe that's why Charlie Crockett thought they'd be a good fit. You know, because he's got a very big throwback sound, as does Twin Temple. However, Twin Temple's little little shtick is that they uh they're evil.
You know, they're they play satanic doo-wop. Now I've seen Twin Temple Live at least two times. And I'm sorry, but if Twin Temple scares you, or you take Twin Temple seriously, you have gotta settle down. It's like taking ghosts seriously, except Twin Temple's even more silly because they're playing doo-wop music.
Alright. Well, over the weekend, I don't know if uh some of his fans started complaining that band's got evil imagery, but Charlie Crockett kicked him off the tour, and okay, I get it. The country audience, you know, probably not as much into a satanic doo-wop as I don't know.
Somebody who would attend a ghost show, for example. Sense of humor with country fans apparently also a little bit different. Well, after he started getting a lot of backlash for this from his fans who are like, dude, I thought you're an outlaw. Well, he just uh went on this big kind of crazy rant on Facebook. Um I'm not gonna read his whole rant because there's a lot of profanity, but he's all you know, at one point, I might wake up at 1 p.m. on the back of that bus, find out the opener ain't working for me that night. Tough luck, life is hard. This ain't no temp agency, get to stepping. You might get a life-changing gig just by standing next to me.
That's magic. I wonder who has more you know, monthly listeners on Spotify. Twin Temple has toured with some, you know, really big bands, like I mentioned Ghost. Um, I would assume Twin Temple and Charlie Crockett are somewhat in the same boat. Let's see.
Charlie Crockett's probably got him beat Twin Temple. How funny. 128,000,666 monthly listeners. That's funny. Let's let's scope old Charlie Crockett here. Oh, he's doing way better. Yeah, 1.5 million.
So, alright. Maybe uh all this news is gonna help out Twin Temple. I would imagine a lot of Charlie Crockett fans went and listened to him, and again, they're not a band I would throw in just for fun, throw on to listen to, because I'm not that big into uh doo-wop music, but they're really fun live, and if their show, their live show like bothered you, you need to settle down, okay? Stop taking life so seriously. They are very over the top and silly.
You should be laughing while they play, not having a meltdown. Alright, I'm gonna try to find some freak news. Working on my enthusiasm for the day. It's a good day to just go home and play Red Dead or something. I don't know, I got crap to do though. All right, what's up, Peaches? Oh nothing. Good morning and welcome. Welcome to Monday. Yeah, yay. Alright, you're younger than me. When you were in school, did you have textbooks or did they give you a laptop? Textbooks. Textbooks, okay.
Speaker 3: I was right before they switched over to all iPads. Yeah.
Speaker 1: Looks like uh back in 2024, the US spent 30 billion dollars putting laptops and tablets in school, and now they're saying kids are dumber than ever. Do you think it's the laptops, or do you think it's uh TikTok and YouTube? Have you heard them try to read? See, I have heard that young people struggle to read.
Speaker 3: It really is baffling. I'm not I'm not kidding.
Speaker 1: Okay, well, I'm not blaming the laptops then. I'm gonna blame the schools. You should be able to read the same on a laptop as you should on a piece of paper. Words or words, right? So I think that the schools have got to be slacking. Something's not going right. And schools have gone downhill for a long time. Like, even before the laptop thing, I remember I think I was in third grade when I learned my multiplication tables. Did you learn those?
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was around the same time. About third grade. Did you have the time test?
Speaker 1: Uh yeah, like, and we got rewards and things
Speaker 3: like I think that's when my anxiety kicked in. Oh, yeah. Is when they're like, okay, you got a minute to complete all these different multiplication problems and go.
Speaker 1: I my kids at their elementary school, they didn't teach them to them at all. Didn't teach it to them.
Speaker 3: Aren't they teaching that whole common core crap now?
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I but I would think that still includes multiplication, right? Yeah. And I will say that as someone who didn't learn Cobb and Core when you're an adult and you try to figure it out. It just seems like nonsense.
Speaker 3: It's such a lame way to learn. Like, learn the best way, learn the fastest way, and that's it. Common core can suck.
Speaker 1: Yeah, and so I don't know. I don't know. Because when you get older, new things are harder to learn. So it might be just fine, and old people like me are like, that doesn't make any sense to me.
Speaker 3: I don't think it makes sense to the teachers either, because some teachers are older than us.
Speaker 1: Well, exactly. Most teachers. If they're gonna change up everything, you know, you gotta do some training for these teachers and things like that, but I wouldn't blame the laptops. Uh it's not just kids who are getting dumber peaches. All right, I have social media. Adults are getting dumber.
Speaker 3: Well, it's been super nice, actually. I've avoided the Facebook comment sections altogether. Oh, that's a good way to live. I've barely hopped on there. I I'm just kind of like, you know what? I'm tired of the stupidity.
Speaker 1: Well, social media is so packed with misinformation that yeah, uh I think people of every age demographic are getting stupider. Probably being included. And the more that AI gets better and better, just the dumber and dumber all of us are gonna get. Because it's already to the point sometimes you can't tell.
Speaker 3: Well, you guys are having me dig in a uh Gen Z brain rot for Z103. Don't say you guys.
Speaker 1: It's I didn't don't put don't put that on me.
Speaker 3: Well, you did tell Jade, like, hey, I found the perfect guy for the position for program director on Z. It's Peaches.
Speaker 1: Well, it's because you're younger. You don't talk that way. All right. Apparently I'm the other one.
Speaker 3: Sometimes I'm the youngest DJ in the building now, so that's why they're like, Yeah, go over there.
Speaker 1: But I understand the uh core demographics of Z103's audience. I think that I just wouldn't overdo it with those. Is what I'm that's my advice. Don't overdo it. Don't pummel them with worry about them because then you might start getting the complaints that what's this dumb crap? But who knows? Ton ton tons of her.
Who knows? So, all right, you know, parents teach your kids how to read books. Uh take a little more personal involvement in their education. The government is defunding education left and right, okay.
They want to blame technology, they want to blame you know social media. No, that fund education, okay. We got schools getting shut down, we got teachers getting fired, we've got oversized classrooms.
Maybe the government might be part of the problem. All right, maybe don't ban kids from reading books. We don't understand when they were reading books, they were smarter. We took the books away. Idiots. Bunch of morons. What else do we have in freak news?
Speaker 3: I would love to hear RFK Jr. try to read.
Speaker 1: I've heard everything. Can you imagine if they brought him to read to the kids for you know, day they're all terrified? Like, do you remember uh most presidents have done go to a classroom and read to the kids? Like famously George Bush on 9-11 was reading to the kids, but he had the book upside down. If I make that up, hold on. That might be urban legend, George Bush book upside down.
Speaker 3: Isn't that where the famous meme comes from where they they tell them like hey, they just hit the second tower and then he runs out the classroom? Let's see here.
Speaker 1: No, I don't want to oh I hate it when they like will you subscribe, give us your email address. I just want to know if it's true that Bush was reading a book upside down. Oh, it says false. They said even if it were real, it would still just be a funny picture. So is it Photoshop?
Speaker 3: Okay. But I feel like he also told, you know, the picture.
Speaker 1: It's Photoshop. My bad. But back to if it was RFK reading for kids, it would terrify them.
Speaker 3: But what if he was trying to cover it up? What if George Bush was like, hey, we better get this off the internet?
Speaker 1: Uh that could be. It was Photoshop. You know what they because that's the new politician excuse. It's AI. It wasn't me. That's AI. We're gonna be hearing that for everything. But I would love to hear RFK reading to kids. This is the three billy coats, Groff. There's the troll under the bridge. I can't tell you what he sounds like. But he might sound like this.
Speaker 3: What if we heard uh Trump read the hungry hungry caterpillar? That'd be a good one. Well, it's see.
Speaker 1: I mean when he's reading off a teleprompter, not too bad. So reading the kids' book, that might be pretty good. But just don't let them free for all.
Speaker 3: They tried to ask him Biden to do the same thing, but he went to the wrong classroom and he was walking all over the school.
Speaker 1: Yeah, all these old guys. Let's let's just go ahead and just keep them locked away. Let them, you know, pretend they're doing something. I think that's what's going on with a lot of these old guys like Biden and Trump. I I don't think they're actually running things. I think they let them get on TV and babble every once in a while, but I think they're like you know, people with a little more uh cognitive uh clarity that are behind the scenes actually running things. I think they just these these guys are figureheads, they put them on TV. I just say some crazy stuff.
Go off, whatever. But you've probably got what do they call them? The deep state. Yeah, got those guys that are actually running things. That's my guess. You know, they're eating the cats and no.
We are K Bear 101. And again, before any of you get butthurt at me, yeah. Biden was too old, he didn't have it all there. Trump is too old, doesn't have it all there. Enough of these 80-year-olds.
I mean, we've got a guy running for politics in Idaho, who I think it is he 80 now or 82, 84 Jim Rish. I think I know. He's like the cryptkeeper, dude.
I mean, this is ridiculous. How many people around here have a have a grandpa or great grandpa in their 80s? Do you let him give you life advice at that point? Do you let him I don't know, make financial decisions for your family.
Speaker 3: Jay's getting to the age where he can run for office, you know.
Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't run till you're 72. Go to your to start a career at age 72. All right, it's it's quite a ways after eight, so I'll save some of this other crap for later. But we'll be back. Hey, what's up, people? How's your Monday going? I hope it's alright. Hope you had a good weekend. Hope it was uh productive and fun. And hopefully this week goes by fast so we can get to a new one.
Need to give the weekend another shot. Alright. Let's see here. Oh, let's talk about bears attacking people.
All right. Do you like camping? Well, get a camper, all right. There is no reason to sleep in a tent. I don't care what anybody says.
Tent camping sucks. That's the Victor Wilt's opinion. Okay.
Well, seriously. It's cold at night, and then the minute the sun comes out and touches your tent, it just turns into a scorching hot box. It's miserable. And you might get eaten by a bear. Now, these people didn't get eaten. They survived. But uh, this was in Wyoming.
Well, right next door. Couple people just out camping on the 4th of July weekend, and all of a sudden, this was a black bear. It wasn't even a grizzly. That a black bear attacks their tent. They start screaming, no!
Because you know, one of your tents being ripped to shreds by a large beast. That's what you're gonna do is scream. So they're screaming, then they start firing off gunshots, and that didn't even scare the bear off. They said it didn't even blink. It just kind of circled around, came back from a different angle.
So they just kept firing off rounds, and eventually it ran off, and they were able to flee to their vehicle and then drove to their nearby cabin. You have a cabin. Why not sleep there?
Sorry, I just don't get it. The last time I went tent uh camping. I remember waking up in the middle of the night. It was 30 something degrees outside. You gotta stumble off into the darkness where you know there might be bears.
Just to, you know, relieve yourself. It's freezing and miserable, and then you get in the tent and you're all cold, and you do your best to warm up, but you're in a tent and it's 30 degrees. I was like, no, I'm done with this. I'm too old. Not gonna sleep in a tent anymore.
Ever again. And I guess it was right around that time. That those vacation rental prices from places like Airbnb Airbnb and Verbo went through the roof.
Go figure. Just in time for me to sell my camper and decide cabins only. Ah, Can't afford to rent a cabin.
Holy crap. I just uh was curious, and I brought up Airbnb, and I was like, I wonder what it costs to rent uh a Airbnb in Idaho Falls. Y'all need to lower your prices, Kay. I don't think we're a tourist destination. If I'm gonna spend that kind of money, I'm definitely going somewhere else.
Holy crap. Oh, geez, I thought Idaho Falls was bad. You should see Boise. Boise is not even that great. I mean, it's fine, but anyway.
I don't even remember what I was talking about here. Oh, yeah, don't get eaten by bears. Rent a cabin. Tent suck.
Huh? It's more manly to sleep in a tent. I sleep in a sleeping bag under the stars without a tent. Ah, good for you. Party on a Monday, people. Yeah, it's not really a party. I'm just trying to keep you pumped here. Alright. We gotta stay positive on a Monday.
Mondays meh meh. Alright. Where was I at here? Well, I did mention we're in the middle of a heat wave. We've got extreme heat warnings.
Don't go to Salt Lake. Yeah. They just set the record for their all-time highest temperature since they started keeping records in 1874. Previous high was 107 over the weekend.
Clocked in at 109. Yikes! Welcome to Phoenix.
Oh. What was the temp in Phoenix yesterday? It was 109 in Salt Lake. I didn't hear from my daughter yesterday. Uh is she alive? I hope so. I I gotta check out the Phoenix forecast. It's just always kind of fun. Well, heck, it's not looking too bad.
Only a high of 104 today in Phoenix. We might as well be there. Alright.
Let's see. What else was I looking at here? What was considered cool 10 to 20 years ago that is embarrassing now? Phoenix temperatures. No, it was never cool.
It's always been hot. Um, let's see. Let's see what stupid answers the internet's given us. Posting vague Facebook statuses like don't ask, I'm fine, and then getting mad when people asked. Was that ever considered cool?
No, it wasn't. It's just annoying. Nobody likes it when you're like, oh man, there's something terrible going on. And you're like, well, what's going on? They're like, well, I don't want to talk about it. It's like, no, tell me what's going on.
Alright. It's like when somebody tells you, I got something really important we need to talk about. And you're like, all right, well, let's talk about it. Let's do it in like four days.
No! I'm gonna be sitting here sweating it, going, what's the problem? I have an overactive brain.
Tell me what's going on. Alright, other things considered cool 10 to 20 years ago that are not now. Bieber hair. That's probably still popular. It's a very basic haircut. I don't know if it's as prop as popular as a broccoli head, but broccoli head is not gonna be cool in 10 to 20 years. Guarantee it, dudes. You're gonna be looking back going, oh, I can't believe I had that broccoli hair head cut or head.
Broccoli haircut on my head. Hey, I never claimed to be professional people. Okay. You back off. Alright, what else used to be cool?
Let's see here. The swag era. Guess I don't remember that. Mustaches as decor. Oh, hanging them up on your wall. Is that only 10 to 20 years ago? That seems like something that people did when I was young. Like getting a mustache tattooed on their finger. How many people regret that one now?
Probably a lot. Let's see, the dab. Yeah, that was never cool. Alright. Maybe if you were 10, 10 to 20 years ago, you thought the dab was cool, but it was never cool.
Ace Ventura impression. That has gotta be more than 10 to 20 years old. I know the 90s seems like it was yesterday, but it wasn't. The 90s was a really long time ago. Alright.
Wearing Bluetooth earpieces everywhere. I don't think anybody thought that was cool. Shakespeare in the Park? Hmm. Facebook?
I don't know if anybody ever thought Facebook was cool. Huh. MP in your pants. Somebody been watching Billy Madison. But sorry again, that was not that was longer than 10 to 20 years ago. We're getting into that 30 years ago thing here. The internet has a hard track keeping of time. What saying true that? You can't say true that anymore?
I'd say blank that to that, but I'm not gonna say it. Thank you again for tuning in to the Victor Wilch Show. This program's a production of River Bend Media Group. To contact the show or for more information, hit us up at Riverbend Media Group.com.
