Welcome to Digress with D & E, where Des and Elena answer your questions, share your stories, and talk about whatever comes to mind. We keep things fun, honest, and a little unpredictable with our takes on random topics and whatever else catches our attention—no script, no filters—just real conversations with plenty of detours along the way. Send us your stories, and we’ll break them down with our thoughts (and probably some side commentary).

Elena: We're in the studio. I'm Elena. I'm
Desiree: Desiree.
Elena: We're getting used to this.
This is like a, this is a, this is a change of scenery. This is really not the
Desiree: professional.
Elena: Professional,
Desiree: but you guys didn't think we'd do it and we're here. Yeah. So I promised everyone that it was gonna happen, I promise. And it is happening right now. It's happening right
Elena: now. It is, uh, six months. Oh, eight six.
We've been talking about this for six months, but it's okay. It's okay. We got started. We're here. We're doing our thing. Okay. So I am Elena. I'm Desiree. Okay. And then like, what, I don't even know what to say about myself at this point. I'm like, [00:01:00] Hey,
Desiree: we'll talk a little bit about how we met and then we'll go into, once we're comfortable, a little bit more about.
Who we are as people, period. So how we met, how did we meet Elena? Let's start. I'll add in. So
Elena: I went, I uh, I moved to Raleigh from Kenley. Yeehaw. I was out in the middle of nowhere in Kenley, but I moved to Raleigh and I started a job because I had no friends out here. So I started a job working at a restaurant, redacted.
I'm not telling you the name of the restaurant, you don't get to know, you do not get to know the name of the restaurant. But I started working there and, um, I was just coming in. I was at low key, kind of a low point in my life. Um, I didn't really talk to anyone. I just went through like the worst breakup ever.
I know everyone's, every female's virgin or, or females, billion origin story has got to be like, I went through the worst breakup, but that, that's where I'm at. That's where I was at in that moment. So I, um. Was just chilling. No friends hanging out at this [00:02:00] restaurant. And um, I look across the street through the window and we have Desiree here chopping up.
What, what was chopping up onions. She was in the kitchen. Chop up alone. I
Desiree: was cooking it.
Elena: I was a food runner. And yeah, I'm still salty that you guys never made me a server. Um, anyway, starting things. Sorry, sorry, sorry. It's fine. It's fine. Um, but I was a food runner at the time and I stayed a food runner for two years.
Anyway, not mad about it at all, but anyways. Um, but yeah, so we were chilling in there and I don't, what did you say to me? I cannot remember what you said. I don't
Desiree: know. You were, this girl was crazy in that window. She was, I had never met someone like her. Like I just thought she was just gonna be like. In genuine, some very young, like cheeky girl that just came in the window and was talking to everyone, but she was just like the complete opposite.
Like she came in and she was outgoing, like crazy, running around, like always talking to everyone, but not in the way you would think. Like not in like I'm flirting with everyone or I'm trying to be seen, but in the like, [00:03:00] this is my personality. You're gonna see it like I'm crazy. Let's do this. Um, and I think that's what first was like I could be friends with this girl.
I know she's like definitely younger and I'm an old lady, but like this girl is cool. Like I wanna be friends with her.
Elena: She wanna be a millennial so bad. She's not a millennial. I'm old. She's literally Gen Z, I'm old. She's literally Gen Z. I don't even know
Desiree: the, that's how I know I'm old. I don't even know the terms of these things.
You're like on
Elena: the cusp, but you are Gen Z. Like she'll be like, I'm a millennial. Or like say things that are millennial. I'm like, you're not a millennial. You're literally Gen Z. It's okay. Look, we love our millennials here, but. You're not one stop claiming it. Yeah. When I first saw Des I was like, she's cool.
She looks cool. I don't know. I just saw, I was like, yeah, we could be friends. And we were just talking in the window and immediately the first thing we started doing was shit. Talking
Desiree: like instantly. We
Elena: just, I instant shit. Instantly instant. Like, we were like, so you heard about blah,
Desiree: blah, blah, we're not gonna say names, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And I was like, you heard about blah, blah, blah. [00:04:00] Yes. And then so we just
Elena: kept talking and kept talking and eventually we were like, um, let's hang out. So we hung out and then we sat, I'm pretty sure my, my old studio apartment for six hours straight, just talking absolute shit. Not even just like about like people just in general, like being like, I don't trust our
Desiree: lives.
What's happening in our lives? Like, and then I think we realized in that moment we had a lot more in common than we thought we did. Like, just like about our past lives and what we've gone through and like how, where life has brought us. And like we realized in that moment like, holy heck, like we got brought to the same job at the same time for a reason.
For a reason. 100%.
Elena: Like the, and and also we were both, honestly, we were both. Kind of crazy. We started, bro, we started like talking about stuff and I was like, you get on your secret account lately. She was like, no, I'm always on my secret account. I'm always on my secret account. Like, we just started talking about that immediately.
So honestly, and then we just started hanging out with people and every time we hung out with someone, they were like, y'all are funny. You should start a podcast. And now we're here. [00:05:00] And I'm like, what do I say? What are we doing?
Desiree: What are we doing? But we're gonna do it either way. 'cause we are funny. We enjoy talking, we talk all day long.
We eat. That's why we constantly do food reviews all the time. Food reviews. I've had so many people ask to join food reviews. No.
Elena: Oh, where, where's hell y'all right now?
Desiree: No.
Elena: We, I love, I love you guys
Desiree: though. Every single one of you.
Elena: I don't. No.
Desiree: I'm playing. I'm playing. I'm playing. I love you. I'm the good cop.
She's the bad cop. Yeah. We know this already.
Elena: That's real. That's real. Um,
Desiree: but I think our first like actual sit down after that we went, she ghosted me for a while. 'cause she had some. Family things that were going on, um, which will not be spoken about. Um, but she had some family things that were going on and then we finally, she was just like, Hey, I got like, I think it was like an hour.
I got an hour. Can we meet up? I was like, let's do it. Whatever. We went to, what is the place called? It's like a juice place. Yeah,
Elena: we went to, oh, um, what was it? It's uh, it's like they have halal food there. Yeah. Oh, what was it called? So good. Their smoothies. It's good.
Desiree: [00:06:00] It's like juice bar or something.
Nature. Nature. Nature's Juice Bar. I think something like that. Maybe Nature's Juice Bar. It's on Hillsborough Street. It's something. Yeah, if y'all live in Raleigh, it's really, really good. It's good. It's on Hillsborough Street. And we sat there and we talked for, I'd say about an hour and then she had to go back to what she was going to, but um, I think we got even closer after that.
Yeah. And I know we definitely had like a lot in common after we talked after that. Yeah. We were sitting there like, oh my God. Oh God. We have way much
Elena: also, we're friends.
Desiree: We are friends.
Elena: We are friends. They did this at our old job. They were like, they put us together. We are not in a relationship. We are not in a relationship.
This is my bestie.
Desiree: This is my bestie. I am gay. She is Elena. I'm Elena, but I'm in a happy okay. Loving relationship with a beautiful teacher. Yes.
Elena: And also we love her. Her, I almost said her name We're love her. Redacted. We love her. Um, she's so
Desiree: sweet. We're like three Musketeers. But she doesn't like to be shown.
Because she is a teacher and she's professional, she's private and, but we are all best friends. And I promise you, if we're doing something, unless [00:07:00] it's in here, she's literally sitting in the backseat, bent down, hiding. Yeah. Yes. If we're doing a food review, she's literally like in the back, like eating on whatever we're food reviewing in the back.
I promise you she's, she's like,
Elena: what was the last time we had a, we went and got Korean corn dogs, Korean corn
Desiree: dogs. She's in the back with the hot Cheeto corn dogs bent down in the seat like, are you guys done yet? And we're like, still talking with little tiny minds. She'll be done in a second, but it's not by choice.
I would show her off every single day. But she's a teacher and she does not wanna be shown, which is valid.
Elena: And we talk, we say Sean too much. Honestly, right now I can tell we're nervous 'cause we're like, whoa, this is, is a lot like, honestly, like further on, it's, it's. Messy. It's messy.
Desiree: Messy talking crap.
Talking shit. Yes. I'm allowed to cuss. I got the okay. Um, talking shit, airing out, but never telling people's names, never telling, never doing that. Mm-hmm. I respect everyone's privacy. Um, except for, and a lot about ourselves too. Yeah. A lot about ourselves. Mm-hmm. So we love ourselves. We [00:08:00] do.
Elena: Which is very, but yeah.
Uh, a lot of, I was gonna say except some things like when, um, something crazy happens, like, uh, rest in Peace, Ozzy Osborne died, but then Tricia Pettis had a new baby. And there's a conspiracy theory that Aquaman, because that's the name of her baby. Her name is the name of the baby, is Aquaman, is the reincarnation of Ozzy.
I love
Desiree: Aquaman. So
Elena: do you think that's like valid? Did you hear anything? Have you seen this? Have you heard about this?
Desiree: I haven't even heard, I can't speak on subjects I haven't heard, but I did hear that Tri pedi is. Baby was named Aquaman, bro. You and I love that name. I'm not gonna lie, everybody can hate all they want, but my daughter's name is crazy and outgoing and I love Aquaman.
I love the movie. I I love it all. So you know what? Name your baby, whatever you wanna name your baby
Elena: when you, when you look up Tricia Peda New Baby, it comes out in like all blue background on I love TikTok Love. Yeah. She got, I love whole like shebang.
Desiree: That is, is crazy to me. That's the best thing. Like be Unique.
We love Unique around here like, yes. We are unique, I promise you that. Yeah,
Elena: 100%. We love that. Um, [00:09:00] but anyway, I just wanna talk about that. I felt like that was a, I have no
Desiree: idea what she's talking about. Yeah. I kind throw things at my face 24 7 and then I have to go home. I have to do research about it, and then we will.
And one thing about me and her, we don't agree on a lot of things. Like it could be not all, and we're not gonna go into politics, we're not gonna go anything. But it could be about politics, it could be just about anything going in the world, celebrities, whatever. There's a lot of things we don't agree about.
But one thing that keeps our friendship going is we respect each other's differences. Mm-hmm. So we're able to agree to disagree or just talk it out and explain why the other person might feel the way they feel. Um, and I never. Hate anything she says. And she never hates anything I say. So
Elena: I feel like our values align well.
Yeah. Like the, I think like we have different opposing views, but our values and morals come down to it. Yes. It's like very, they align. Yes. So sometimes we'll have, it's like same problem, different solution. Yeah. So sometimes we'll like see something and we're like, yeah, that's messed up. But then we have a different solution in our head to how it should be fixed.
Yeah. Like, so I think, and we have a lot of respect for each other when it comes down to that
Desiree: a lot. Yeah.
Elena: But like, you might [00:10:00] not think we do at some point because the way we
Desiree: act with each other, we're always talking to each other, dogging each other like. We talk shit to each other. Yes,
Elena: it's, it's insane.
But you know what, it's okay. We gonna find, we're gonna find out. We're gonna, we're gonna find out through things. Um, I also like asked Instagram, like, ask us questions for our, for our podcast. So I'm actually gonna pull these up and Des is gonna tell you guys a fun story while I pull these up because I'll tell
Desiree: you a little bit about myself.
Um. So a little bit about me. Um, we won't go too far back, but my name's Desiree. I am 27, about to be 28 in August. Um, I have two kids, two beautiful children, and like I said, I have an amazing girlfriend who's a teacher. Um, I am a manager at a restaurant. Um, and I guess the reason that I wanted to do this podcast specifically is, you know, just getting out there and doing things that are different.
You know, I've been stuck in a restaurant for a long time and I do love my job. I love the people that I'm around all the time. Like, they're literally like a family, [00:11:00] family unit to me. But just getting out and expanding your horizons and finding new things to do in life, like has always been something that I wanted to do and not just be stuck in one place all the time.
Um, so that's a little bit about me. Obviously you'll find out a lot more as the episodes go on and a lot more maybe about my childhood, my past, whatever it may be. But right now, just. Little throw winds right there.
Elena: Yes, we'd love to see it. Okay. First question that I saw,
Desiree: uh,
Elena: um, that I wrote down is, what is one thing you do not trust people, like people who do this?
Like people who do this, I do not trust. That was,
Desiree: you're gonna hate me. People who vape you. She vapes. Yeah, I vape,
Elena: bro. Listen. Well, it's banned now. Why are
Desiree: you ruining your lungs? Don't do that to yourself. Please stop doing that to yourself. I tell everyone at my job, stop vaping. It is horrible for you and I know we all have things that we shouldn't be doing, but vape, stop.
Vaping and smoking are horrible for you. Preserve your lungs. You only have one [00:12:00] body. You only have one body. Drink, water. Go outside. Exercise, do something. I know I'm chunky. I'm not chunky. Body fault. I take meds. Okay? Like I eat, he I eat healthier than this girl combined with my girlfriend.
Elena: Okay? First of all, she just came from my throat.
What was that like? What was that? We respect each other. I do vaping. I hate that she vapes. It's horrible for her. And she's
Desiree: like, shit,
Elena: listen. I know. Well, it's banned now. So I have this one, and then it's like I literally have no choice but to quit until after she's gonna be so. I'm not gonna be that mean check back with the me.
She's tried in
Desiree: our friendship at least seven times to quit vaping and it has been absolutely horrible. I will literally hand her a vape to get her to leave me alone. That is true. She is so mean When she's like, it's horrible.
Elena: That's like the, that's the one episode. We gotta be like doing a My little pony review or something so that I'm not like
Desiree: she will be snapping like her little anger issues get outta control and I'm just sitting here like, oh my
Elena: God.
Desiree: Here we
Elena: all of all, I don't [00:13:00] even have anger issues. That's not even a real thing. Anyway. Anyway, so when it comes to vaping, um, I, I've been vaping since I was literally like 11 years old. That's the worst thing ever. We should touch on that because honestly, like in the future, do like a whole episode because the, what is it?
Like the vape demic? Yeah. There's always a demic, but like the, I'm glad
Desiree: it's gone. Everyone can judge me. And we've talked about this at work. I've talked about this with multiple people, but, um, I think, and a lot of people are like, well, why not ban something like alcohol or et cetera, et cetera, and agreed.
Like, I think there should be limitations on things, but like vaping, like it has been so easy for kids to get their hands on it. Adults, middle aged, like you should not be able to get a vape at 11 years old. Yeah. Nor should you anything else, but you shouldn't be able to get a vape at 11 years old and be able to sit here and vape and it's just ruining your body, ruining your lungs.
And an addiction at 11 is crazy.
Elena: Okay. First of all, no, it was literally, it was literally my family. [00:14:00] Like I feel like that was like the biggest thing is just everyone around me vape. Yeah. So I'd be like vape. Ugh. Yeah. I used to like record it on my Snapchat when I was 11. I had, I thought, yeah. I was like, yeah guys, I'm an adult.
I vape. You know, like, girl, it hurt, she coughing. She said, no, I was mimicking you. Oh, okay. I
Desiree: thought you were actually coughing. I thought I was like catching. I'm getting over a sickness if I do cough, so please. But I had to be here today. This has been in the work so long. And we set it up and we were like, it's finalized.
And I was like, I gotta be here no matter what. Mm. So I might've been dying yesterday, but I'm here today, period.
Elena: I, um, the one thing that I don't trust people that do is I don't trust people that. Can like do full tasks without like listening to music or watching a show. Like you can like sit there and like fold a whole basket of laundry in absolute silence.
Desiree: What? She just came [00:15:00] from me because I can, and people find this really crazy, but I can drive in a car in pure silence. What, why? From like a seven hour drive, I can do it, but also I can listen to podcasts. I can watch YouTube, like not watch it. I'm not watching and driving, but I can listen to the music on YouTube.
I can listen to Spotify, but sometimes I can do a seven hour drive in silence. And it's amazing. I'm sitting here reworking my whole brain. I love it. I don't know. I trust everybody who can do that.
Elena: You're, you're insane. You trust everyone. I trust no one who can do that because that's literally insane.
Literally insane. Like the, the. The concentration. Like I have to be listening to something I listen to, like true crime, like Bailey Syrian or something. Or like, honestly Syrian, we love Bailey Syrian. But honestly, if I, even if I even start watching like a a, a video or a movie or a show, like I'm watching it all day while I'm doing all of my cleaning tasks.
Like if I have to clean at all and I've started a show, it's on and I am [00:16:00] cleaning and I don't trust people who don't do that.
Desiree: That's cra You're just distracted the whole time.
Elena: No, I'm not. Like
Desiree: the whole time you're distracted. No, you are not getting it done. You're watching
Elena: a video. I get more done. I literally get more done.
Like if I'm sitting there doing nothing, I'm gonna go on my phone. Like if I'm like not thinking, I'm like, okay, let me like fold this, this T-shirt. Wow. Very nice Fold this short. Wow. Very nice. And then I'm like. I'm done. I don't want to
Desiree: do this anymore yet. Yeah, I'm done. I'm like, what is this? I dunno. You just gotta push through.
You gotta start thinking into your inner thoughts. Okay. Stoic. I'm so thinking into your inner thoughts, but that is crazy 'cause my girl does the same thing. She'll literally put while folding laundry, watch a whole Netflix episode, and I'm like, how'd you get that done if you're watching the episode?
She's like, I'm listening and concentrating.
Elena: Yeah.
Desiree: What?
Elena: I already know what the characters look like. Like I watched the first episode, I know what the characters look like. So I hear it and I'm like, oh my God, Stacey did not do that. Like what? And then I like look over if I need to see it. Sometimes I'll go back and I'll be like, [00:17:00] that happened.
But like that's, that's one of bad things to fold my jaws. Voted to for my jaws. Okay. Next question is, what are your Zodiac signs?
Desiree: Oh my gosh. I'm a ve Go. I'm a Taurus.
Elena: Why do you hate everything? Like I feel like every answer we're like,
Desiree: I feel like I know so many Tauruses. And also my girl is a Taurus.
That's why they're constantly in each other's faces. Mm. We love in the best way. Not a bad way. They're constantly in each other's faces. They love each other. Yes. But I'm a Virgo. We're the best. And I've heard bad things about Virgo, but I'm not one of them. I don't wanna hear that
Elena: I got PTSD because, so as you could tell, from like every single thing that has been said so far, I have a habit of like disappearing sometimes.
And I disappeared for a little bit. And I know one other Virgo who I've done this to before and was like, don't ever speak to me again. Yeah. Do not ever speak to me again. You don't care about me, you hate me. [00:18:00] And I like went to text Dez and I was like.
Desiree: Hey, after ghosted me for a month. But there was reasons, there was hate the word ghosted.
Oh.
Elena: Because I feel like that's like very negative, and I'm not trying to, she was going through stuff. Well, it's not even just me going through stuff. I'm not trying to, I just like lowkey lose track of time sometimes. All for like a month straight. Okay. I sound stupid. I'm like, yeah. I just, I like, I forget, I'm living, I, I literally, I like will be in my apartment and like, not leave and I'll just be in there like folding clothes and watching Netflix shows.
Okay. And like, it's just, I'm like, oops, oopsie daisies. Hey, what are you doing? But also, like certain things will distract me. Like if there's one really big thing going on in my life, I will like be like, and I will literally like go and dissipate from every single existence. Yeah. So, yeah. Which valid.
Desiree: Life's stressful.
Elena: Yeah. But no, I still have like responsibilities. I feel like I [00:19:00] should like adhere to my responsibilities in life to be like a proper adult or something.
Desiree: And then I'm the exact opposite. 'cause I'm a Virgo and I'm detail oriented and I'm always on a schedule. And if my life is a disarray, I feel like I'm losing myself.
Elena: Yeah, that's valid. I'm like, wow, my life's in a dis, I guess I'm gonna be in my apartment Yeah. For the next month. And I'm like, how do I
Desiree: fix it?
Elena: I'm like, that'll fix it. Yeah. Being away. And then I have to like a month later actually fix it because being away for a month doesn't fix it. I'm learning, okay, I'm not gonna do this anymore.
She's
Desiree: learning.
Elena: I'm not gonna do this anymore. And if I do, Des will publicly call me out on the internet. I wouldn't
Desiree: do that. I'm not that type of person
Elena: I know, but I'm like setting myself accountable now. So someone call me out,
Desiree: call her out. I will not do it. You'll know because I respect my friend. It's, I mean, period.
She went, but tell 'em what you did when you came to me and you were like, oh, I've been gone for so long.
Elena: Oh yeah. I was like, oh my God, I'm so sorry. I've been gone for so long. Wait, guys. The text is like, I'm not reading the text, but it's long. [00:20:00] And I'm like, I'm so sorry. I was this, this, and this. And then she, she goes, I'm still your friend.
I'm not gonna stop being your friend. She was basically like, quit whining. She was like, I'm not gonna stop being your friend, but, um, you pissed me off. Yeah. And then we talked about it
Desiree: straight, blunt, and to the point. I was like, let's go eat.
Elena: Yeah. And then we were good. We're chilling.
Desiree: We figured it out.
There was no bad things that happened. It was just things happen. People go through things and one of my biggest problems is always be there for your friend. Even if they're going through anything, you have to remember they're going through it. And even though you might be getting the back end of not getting talked to or something like that, you have to remember they're going through it.
So be there for your friends at the end of the day.
Elena: That's true. Like honestly, she's the only friend. Okay. She's gonna cry, getting a little link emotional, but she really, like, Des is really the only friend I've had that like, actually is like a, a, a friend. Okay. No, wait. 'cause people are gonna attack me.
But Des is one of the, she has multiple friends. I have other friends. You [00:21:00] guys are great. I it, she's the only friend, not a bad, that like, like she's always like, she's always like paid me back. She's always, um, texted me, checked up on me, like been like, Hey, yo, how are you? Are you good? And then like, forgiven me for like mistakes.
I feel like I've faced a lot of friends in the past that I've lost that have been very like, um, they don't give a lot of grace, which is also kind of valid. Like yes, set your boundaries, period. Mm-hmm. Um, but there there's an extent. Like if you tell me I'm doing something wrong, I'm gonna fix it. Like, I feel like that is something I do like.
I'm like, okay, let me not do that ever again. So like when I dissipated. For a month. I'm doing that again. Yeah. And then, and then it was like, okay, let's do the podcast. Yeah. 'cause that's like some sort of like on on track. Yeah. Accountability kind of thing. So keep her in the real
Desiree: world. Keep her here. Yeah.
Because she does go off sometimes into just disappears. Okay. Poof. Into the air. Alright. I'm not like crazy. Okay. Not in that way. I think that when situations happen and something big might [00:22:00] happen, she has to handle that situation in herself, within herself. And so she goes into that little ball of like handling it within herself without realizing that there's other people that will be there for her and help her through that situation, which doesn't make it bad.
Everybody handles their own things in their own way, so. Mm-hmm. 1000%. We love that. Yes. We love, I cry on people's shoulder. I'm like, I don't know how to deal with this. Oh my God, help
Elena: me,
Desiree: help me, help me. I'll, I'll tell everybody to be fair. I need help.
Elena: I got cats. So, you know, like me and my cat. Dude, we love for cats.
Okay. First of all, my cats are literally the best beings to ever walk this planet. Like if you ever met my, if anyone watching this ever has had the grace of coming in contact with my cats, you're welcome.
Desiree: You're welcome. We do. We love beans and giddy pig a lot. Yes,
Elena: yes. Beans and giddy pig. Kitty pie is 21 years old.
She's the same age as me. She's literally the same age as me. When I see people who like knew me in my childhood, they're like, giddy pie is still around. I'm like, yeah, yeah, but they are everything. I literally [00:23:00] have a rule when I date someone that you have to love my cats more than me. No, I'm so serious.
You have to love my cats more than me because if it ever came down to it and there's a fire, okay, let's say the house is on fire and I'm dying. I would rather you like pick up my cats than me because if I live and my cats don't, I'm never talking to you again. Yeah. I would be so mad.
Desiree: So, you know, she has like sound limits on her cats too.
Like if we'll go over and we'll listen to music, we're all chilling and relaxing and then the music's too loud and we get too loud. She's like everybody quiet. The cats do not loud light noises and we're like giddy pie and beans. It is what it is. You know what I mean? Normally giddy pie 'cause beans is out, but Giddy Pie is old.
She's an old little lady. She's a sweet little lady and she needs quiet times. Yes. So I've just gone along with it at this point.
Elena: It works out. It works out. I'm not really worried about beans 'cause she don't care. But Giddy is like very, like
Desiree: I'm scared, like I'm a cat.
Elena: You know? She's old. That's my baby anyway.
It's not like that. That is [00:24:00] literally
Desiree: my baby.
Elena: I will let nothing come between me and my cats. She's not getting, no, I'm finding, I'm finding a noom. Um, oh, another thing, I just thought about this, by the way, while we were talking about the people we don't trust, I also don't trust people who don't watch cartoons.
Desiree: Well, she just shot me in the back. Yeah, I, sorry. I cannot, the only time, and don't judge me for this. The only time I watch cartoons is after a really scary movie. And that's because I need to desensitize and I can't go to sleep after a scary movie. 'cause I'm a scared cat. I don't do scary movies. I don't do scary.
Put me in a haunted house. I'm laying on the floor. It's over. I'm not moving. I'm not walking. Drag me out. I'm the same with scary movies. I don't like scary movie. And this girl loves 'em. I do. I'm scared of them. I have to watch a cartoon afterwards. But my day-to-day life does not consist of watching cartoons.
Hers
Elena: every day, all day, every day people are watching. Yeah. South
Desiree: Park. It's adult cartoons. I got
Elena: Cartman on my belly button. She does? Yeah. I hope you can't see that. [00:25:00] I'm sorry. Like I just, I really like South Park. I also, I just like everything, everyone's watching like Glove Island for a really long time and I was like, I didn't watch it.
Yeah. I watched Total Drama Island. Okay. Because that, that is good. That's some good shit right there. But it's, it's cartoons are better because you can do anything in them. Mm-hmm. So I really just don't trust people who don't watch 'em at all. At least you watch 'em after a scary movie. Like at least it's like a go-to for that.
No,
Desiree: the scary movie. I mean, the cartoons I watch after a scary movie are like SpongeBob or like Despicable Me. I mean, period. Not even gonna lie. I am horrified of scary movies, so I need to like, have you seen us? That scary movie? No, see, no. And I'm not gonna watch it. Oh my God. She always wants us to go to the movies and watch a scary movie and I'm not doing it.
Elena: Yeah, the Megan, it was Megan movie. I'm not watching
Desiree: that either. What do you mean? I'm scared my stuffed animals are gonna come alive. I'm not doing that. Like I'm scared of like the, that Did you just say me? It's so scary. I don't care. Like, and there will be people out there that understand, but like, why do they [00:26:00] look like that?
My kids' stuffed animal have to stay in their room. Don't bring 'em into my room. And when they're gone with their dad, I'm shutting the door. Absolutely not. I can't do it. No.
Elena: What's wrong with, I don't understand.
Desiree: Think like Annabelle. She just, Ooh. I think me, Annabelle would be cool. I think you guys would too.
I think you guys would too. First I would be like, Hey girl. She'd be like, oh my God. She'd be Chucky. She'd be like, oh my God, you kind of cute. Okay. First of all, not lie,
Elena: don't lie. Chucky kind of fine. I like the saw. I like the do. Uh, Billy from saw, no, he's cuter than Chucky. Like not in a romantic way, but like in general.
Why did I think. Oh, I hate you. I hate you. Okay, first of all, okay. Whatever. Okay, so the, um, the difference between Chucky and Billy mm-hmm. Is that Chucky has the whole movie surrounding up like about him. Mm-hmm. But Billy is like the one, like, okay, don't talk to them. Don't look at them. Okay. Billy is like, he's [00:27:00] like not the serial killer.
Mm-hmm. Whereas Chucky is. Mm-hmm. Okay. But Tiffany was a Badie, you know about that. She was a Badie. She was a Badie. She was a Badie. We love Tiffany. She was, we love that. She was okay. So you know about it. I watched she want and I was petrified. Okay. And so we
Desiree: need to watch saw. I'm not watching it, all of them.
I'm not watching any scary movies. I know my limits and I'm a grown woman. I have a two story house now. I will not be able to wander around my house comfortably. I like to live in the oblivious, in the unknown despicable me. I'm fine with that. I'm not doing it.
Elena: We were talking about doing that for Halloween, like everyone being minions.
Last year, what were we, we were dinosaurs. Inflatable dinosaurs. Big dinosaurs. Tell me why Someone on Glenwood literally tried to fight us in our, in our dinosaur costume. Mind you like, we're
Desiree: these costumes took like a solid 10 minutes to get in and out of, and there was someone on Glenwood, I couldn't even tell you who, 'cause I'm trying to move around and I'm in this big inflatable suit.
Her fan die on her suit. So her is not [00:28:00] inflatable anymore. It's deflated and everyone keeps touching me and I'm like swapping 'em away. Mind you, but my T-Rex arms are this big, so I'm like swatting everyone away trying to get 'em away from me. No, they were. Grop, and this is Glenwood. Keep your hands off of dinosaurs going down Glenwood.
Yeah.
Elena: The, it was a, it was a Freddie Krueger, someone, I think it was like a sexy Freddy Kruger. Oh yeah. She had this little, yeah. Yeah. Because her man like hit like the top of your suit. Mm-hmm. And you were like, get off
Desiree: back. Yeah. I was mad was, I was tired. I had been assaulted all night long. It was it, I was tired of being touched.
Elena: Everyone thought, everyone thought, we were like, all the dudes thought we were dudes in these costumes. Mm-hmm. So they kept doing like, yeah. Like why? Okay. First of all, why do like men like grope each other walking down Glenwood on Halloween? Yeah. What is that? That's, that is weird. You know, they were like
Desiree: touching my tail and stuff.
You don't know what's in that tail. You don't know what's in that tail. I'll touch that. Mm-hmm. You could have anything up in that tail. Look, he's like, the glass kept fogging up so you couldn't see us. 'cause our hot breath was in this like one little glass. And so I'm like taking my T-Rex arm out and like [00:29:00] un fogging my glass.
Like,
Elena: and then the straps are on here, so every time you lift your arm to do it, it's like, it like rises. So then you're like, shit, go
Desiree: higher. It was fun night though.
Elena: Yeah.
Desiree: What was my girl? She was a,
Elena: um, she was just like a little Raic Wrangler Park. T-Rex Wrangler. Yeah. So ev like at first it was us fighting all night in the dinosaur.
Yeah. 'cause it looked funny. We were like, these cuss are fighting. We were just walking around beating beating each other up, beating each other up in the cus up and the hole was like, stop fighting each other.
Desiree: So she, she was in between us just trying to keep us away from each other. It was a night, it was a great night.
Except for being groped in T-Rex costumes.
Elena: Yeah. And except for the fact that they didn't get home until like 11:00 PM So I was sitting in my T-Rex costume alone in my studio apartment and I'm still mad about the Minecraft movie.
Desiree: We're not even gonna bring up the Minecraft movie. We're bringing
Elena: up the Minecraft movie.
No, we're not. It's time for the Minecraft.
Desiree: No, we're Minecraft movie.
I don't even think people know about the Minecraft movie. It is. It's been [00:30:00] so over blown up. It is something as simple as this. I had regal credits. I was like, I wanna go to the movies after work. Mind you, it's the hour jump decision. I forget how much this girl loves the Minecraft. She loves it. The Minecraft.
The Minecraft. Like, but she's not a My son's worst. Like he went decked out in his Minecraft hoodie, Minecraft PJ's, Minecraft shoes. He even had Minecraft gloves on, like decked out. And so we go, yada, yada, yada. Jump forward. We're at, I think it was like Burlington or something. Yeah. Oh, like Ross. Ross. We were at Ross and we're sitting down and my girl's in the, um, what is it, the changing area, and she's trying on some clothes and we're talking, and I was like, da da da.
The Minecraft went and she was like, what? What did you just say? And I was like, she's like, did you see that without me? And I'm like, mm, no, I wouldn't do that. [00:31:00] And she, she yells over the stall. Blank blank. Did you see the Minecraft movie without me? And she's like, de saw it throws me under the bus. Like she wasn't there.
She was there. And so this girl took like 10 rap laps around Ross. Like she's so mad. She comes sit back down and I'm explaining to her it's not enough. So it's just so blown out. It was an accident, I forgot. She said I would've paid my way in. I did. I forgot.
Elena: She forgot. She forgot. I'm kidding. I did say after I did my ghosting, that I would forget about the Minecraft movie You did?
Mm-hmm. But I really just, I held onto that for a really long time. She did. I did. But you know what? It's fine. It's almost in every one of
Desiree: our videos, the Minecraft movie.
Elena: Okay. Yeah. Every time we do a food review, I'm like, and I'm still mad about the movie. I'm still mad
Desiree: about the Minecraft movie,
Elena: bro. I wanted to see it.
And then I, so then it came out. I didn't even end up go going and seeing it by myself. We went to go see sinners, and I took a picture in front of the Minecraft movie thing. I didn't even see it [00:32:00] yet. I was like, and you were like, we're not. Should I take a picture?
Desiree: Take a picture. I was like, all right.
Elena: We're not even seeing Minecraft.
I was just like, fuck. Um, but I ended up watching it at home and I, I will say I was, was, um, a little disappointed. I was a little disappointed. It's good. I see why people like it, especially like kids. I can see why kids like it. Yeah. But, um, it was, and I like the, they did like a few tributes in there. It was a vibe.
Yeah. We love tributes. Yeah. It was a vibe, but there were parts of it. I was just. For some reason I was expecting something so different than what it was. Don't think that's what it was. Don't,
Desiree: yeah, I don't think books or games, like, I don't think a movie can ever amount to what we have with books and games.
Yeah. So like, anything that is depict, dictated off of a movie, I mean a book or a game. I just, I never, um, my girl, she was talking about the New Odyssey movie coming out and she was like, I should read the book first. I said, don't read the book first. Watch the movie first, and you'll be less disappointed.
I promise you. That's what everyone says. They, they'll be like, haven't watched it yet, so it might [00:33:00] be amazing. But I have been sorely disappointed with every book movie we Ratio. So, period. That's just on me. That's my thing.
Elena: Have you read Odyssey?
Desiree: I have not read The Odyssey. Okay. Yeah,
Elena: I haven't either. I remember we were supposed to in school.
I didn't. I literally did not. Oh my God. See, um, I, I graduated high school, the 1.7 GPA.
I feel like admitting that I'm okay with that. I'll admit my wrong. I'm okay with that. I don't care. I dropped out. Oh, period. I got pregnant and dropped out,
Desiree: period. That's the tea. Let's talk about, let's start my school. But I went back like 14 days later and got my GED. Okay. So And what grade? It was like 10th, so, oh, your girl went and did her thing And then I got a job and I did my thing.
So don't drop out kids though. Please don't drop out. Don't drop out. It's not worth
Elena: it. Don't get a 1.7 GPA either. Yeah, that was, I was just never there. I just never went to school. I like broke my back. I, yeah, I literally, I broke my back. I OD'ed, I a bunch of stuff. We'll get into it later. I went through [00:34:00] some, into some it, in it.
We'll get into it, but I, we literally like, um, I feel like we were like the worst in high school, like worst people. But, um, yeah, I, I'm done. I'm in co I'm in college now and I had a 4.0 at community college and now we're back and we're keeping it going because when I, when I graduated I was like. The real world.
I was like, oh my God. It's scary up the streets have, I'm scared. I have to like provide for my cats. I have to provide for my children. Okay, I'm sorry.
Desiree: I had to provide for my kids, like
Elena: actual children. Yeah. My
Desiree: bad. My choice though. My choice. Not saying anything. I had to provide for my kids. My choice.
Elena: Also, her kids are lit.
I literally love hanging out with her kids. Amazing. Most amazing
Desiree: kids. They're so well behaved. I will tell everyone and anyone about my kids and how amazing they are. Literally everyone at work constantly hears about my kids. Everyone in the real world hears about my kids. They're absolutely amazing kids.
My daughter just joined [00:35:00] band. So now pray for my ears. Wait, what? Your The trombone. Oh, she couldn't have done the flute? No, she wanted the trombone. Oh my God. So when I get noise complaints. And I possibly get kicked out. You know why? It's okay. Because nobody's gonna tell my daughter she can't learn the trombone.
Elena: Oh my God. Can wait. Should we, can we talk about the,
Desiree: I don't know.
Elena: I don't know. You're like tea. Well, we don't have to, we don't have to divulge
Desiree: information. Divulge information. Yeah, go ahead. Um, are we, we're talking about the people that I used to live next to the Yeah. Oh, it was them? Mm. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah.
We're talking about the people. I used to live next to the, it was a, a way while back, but there was some, um, I was, mind you, my kids have these cool little like scooter things that you put your feet on and you kind of like wiggle around and it's not automated or anything. Like you have to actually do it.
It's hard work. I was on it with my kids outside having a great time, having a blast and [00:36:00] Elena's there having a good time. Um, yeah. And then Karen walks out her door and is like, you guys don't need to do that on the sidewalk, blah, blah. Where else are we supposed to scooter Karen? Where else am I supposed to let my kids on this glorious day scooter outside?
Um, and so yeah, she started like being really rude and I said some things back. Um, and then Elena had my back and the girl tried to like throw Elena into the mix. I wonder why, but she came from my race. Oh, yep. And Elena was like, absolutely not. And I called the police on her uhhuh. I felt proud of myself.
She called the police. She was like, I called the police. No. I said, I'm gonna call your friend. And I called the police. She was like, I'm calling the police. No, that was a, that was a very good suburban moment. It was a very, I felt like a real suburban mom. Like, I was like, oh yeah, I'm calling the police Karen.
And I called the police and [00:37:00] they went up to her and said, you can't be mad at kids riding on scooters.
Elena: On a sidewalk.
Desiree: On a sidewalk.
Elena: Yeah. She really, she really did. She tried to bring race into it. And then she like, looked at me and she goes, was I rude when I came out here? And I was like, yeah, you were,
Desiree: because
Elena: she, like, you were really rude, barreled out of her house.
Like, you can't ride on the sidewalk, like aggressive. And then she kept like, bucking up, like she wanna fight. And, and, and we were like, oh, we're just gonna call the police. We're not gonna fight, we're calling the cops. And so we were like, and I
Desiree: did that and I went to him, to the office mm-hmm. As Karen would do.
'cause I felt proud of myself. And I was like, are we allowed to ride scooters on the sidewalk? And the lady was like, where else would you ride them? And I was like, that's my thought process too. Yeah. Like, in the road, in the road, I'm just gonna let my kids ride them in the road. Mm-hmm. Um, and so I felt like a real, like suburbian mom.
That was like a stepping stone for me. Like, oh my gosh, I, I called the police. I am that girl. I felt proud of myself. Grown woman. Uh, [00:38:00] and everyone's like, you handled that so well. 'cause old Desiree would've not done. And I wouldn't have, I wouldn't have done that. Anyone who comes for my kids or talks about my kids, it would not have been that pretty, but.
I've grown in so many ways.
Elena: Yes. That was fun. Not, it wasn't fun, but I was like, that was period. You know, like mm-hmm. Because it was just, we were like proud. We were like, okay, proud. We were proud of how
Desiree: I handled that.
Elena: Yes. Mm-hmm. Like she handled that very, very well. Mm-hmm. And I don't know, at first I was like, and then I was like, oh, we're calling the police.
Desiree: Yeah, we're calling the cops. She did too. And her earrings came out and I was like, we're not handling it that way. And I let myself get a little angry for a second, like a little angry for a second. But then I drew it back and I was like, Desiree, you are better than this. You have worked too hard to be a better person to act like that.
Elena: Mm-hmm.
Desiree: Don't let anybody get you out of your peaceful era. Peaceful anybody. Nobody at work. Nobody in your relationships. Nobody in your family stay in your peace area. Your peace era is where you're gonna be the best person.
Elena: Zen. Yep. Zen. We were [00:39:00] full end. Wait, so now that we've told a few stories, I did wanna touch on what our whole basis of our podcast is.
Mm-hmm. Is we kind of, so we were watching a lot of, um, on TikTok, what was it like Brooke and Jule stuff? Yeah. We were watching a lot of old, like, um, like radio show things, and we were kind of like inspired by it. And we wanted to do something where we were telling stories. Yeah. So I did wanna throw this out there because we kind of briefly like, brought it up on our Instagram and our TikTok, but not a lot.
We were like, yeah,
Desiree: we were like, send in ideas, send in ideas, tell us stories. And we already do have a couple stories locked and loaded, but we do want more stories out there. And just send in some stories, anything that's happened, and we're gonna give our honest input on them and how we would've handled it or what would've happened, whatever it may be.
But don't get offended. Don't be mad. You're sending in the story at your own choice. We're
Elena: giving our opinion, and I don't lie. I'm, I don't lie. And it's anonymous. We're not gonna be like, um,
Desiree: this person that lives in this know all secret. You, no one will know anything about you, I promise. Yeah.
Elena: So dm, you [00:40:00] said that story email?
Yeah, dms, email. Um, all of it like D mostly dms, all, that's all I can really think of. We'll probably set something up, which we'll look into setting something up for people to send in stories, but we wanna look and read them and then be like, oh, because I kind of want the tea. Like give us the tea, like we wanna talk about it because we'll sit here and talk about RT all day, all day.
We can do it all day. We have so much too. Mm-hmm. So many
Desiree: things that have happened to us. But also just talking about if you guys have a topic that you specifically want us to speak about, you think that it'll be something that will be really good or something maybe we won't agree on and something that we can like debate a little bit on.
That'd be cool too. 'cause we love talking back and forth. We do not argue about things, though. We debate. We do not argue. We, yeah,
Elena: that's one of the big sometimes. Okay, we might do it. We might like joke at Yeah. At home. We're not gonna argue on here. Yeah. We, we. But I think we like joke, argue too a lot. Like, I'll be like, yeah, bitch, what do you say?
Why did you say, why'd you say that?
Desiree: Why'd you say that?
Elena: And then, yeah, I feel like, I don't know, there's a, I feel like there's a lot that goes [00:41:00] into the dynamic when it comes to that. I, but also, either way, like if you tell us a story, we might not agree on how to handle it. Like I said, same problem, different solution.
Yeah. Like, we'll probably agree with like who's in the right or who's in the wrong. But yeah, we're gonna have different opinions on how you should go about it.
Desiree: Yeah.
Elena: You know, it says a lot about you, what you decide, you know, are you a type A or type B person? Mm-hmm. I'm clearly the type A person here. I'm clearly the type B.
I was being sarcastic. 1000% sarcastic. No,
Desiree: I'm the exact opposite. Opposite of whatever she is.
Elena: Okay. That's all she is going for. She was like, I don't know what it is. Whichever one it is.
Desiree: See, she says certain things and I'm like, what do you say? All right, I'm gonna go along with it. So type, 'cause one thing about me, I'm a ride or die.
Elena: That's true. She could be a ride or die if I say something. Look, she could, I could be saying something and she could know fully, like I'm capping. Mm-hmm. And I'll be sitting there and I'll be like, and like, and that did happen. She'll be like, yep. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Or like someone will say, I did something. And I'll be like, no I didn't.
She'll be like, no she didn't.
Desiree: Mm-hmm. No. When I saw it, I saw everything happen.
Elena: Mm-hmm. Biggest green flag in a person. [00:42:00] I only bring this up. I'm saying loyalty. That's, yeah. That was another question that we had. Loyalty was like the biggest thousand percent.
Desiree: Yeah. Biggest green flag, loyalty and no lies. We don't do lying around here.
Just tell the truth. Be honest, be real if you did it. You need to own up to the consequences. 1000%. I don't lie. I don't tell lies. I'd rather just go ahead and face up to my consequences. I will tell the complete truth
Elena: because eventually the consequences will, it's gonna come and catch you. Yeah, it'll catch you every single time.
Every time. So yeah. I like, I believe loyalty is a huge green flat. What's that 21 song? I'd rather have loyalty, open love. 'cause love, money. Don't legit like that. But it's true. It's true. Like, 'cause you could live, somebody's still stomach back. I'm sorry. I'm really excited about the microphone being right.
She loves music. I do love music. I do. I like music. I like, I like all music. Like there's nothing I could put on, you know? Like you'll be in my car, I'll be like playing like rap and then I'm listening to music. Russian music. Russian music, musical theater. Like [00:43:00] I don't care.
Desiree: Like anything, anything. And most of our music choices we get along with.
But if she puts on Russian, I'm like, oh my God,
Elena: my culture, God forbid. God forbid. I dunno what they, I'm proud I'm saying. Yeah. Okay. I'm like, I still, I don't know. Um, I don't know what a lot of Spanish music says, but I still listen to it. Listen to Bad Bunny love, love
Desiree: Spanish music. And I couldn't tell you what it is.
I know. So, but yeah, but we,
Elena: but we can, can't do Russian. What
Desiree: girl? I don't know. I don't know Spanish because that's embarrassing. I've worked in a kitchen way too long.
Elena: True, true. She has, she, she really like run that kitchen. I ain't gonna lie. She good at her job and I better not hear none of you say anything about her running that kitchen wrong.
Anyway, I get mad. I will get mad if I go in there and I hear anyone saying like, oh, Justin. She just get mad.
Desiree: She's protective.
Elena: Yeah.
Desiree: So as you can tell, we go from one topic to the next, um, which explains the name, digress with DNE.
Um, so why we chose that name, and I'll get into that, [00:44:00] is because this girl right here, we, so she's the one that pitched the idea of the podcast. And at first I was like, no, I don't really want to be out there. I don't really wanna do it. Da da da da da. And then she pitched it again and I was like. You know what?
We talk, we have a good time. Let's do it. You know what, let's have a good time. And that was six months ago. Mind you. So we have been in the works of getting this together. It's been a while. It's been six months. All good things come to those who wait though.
Elena: Yeah.
Desiree: Um, so one thing about this girl is she says digress all these times.
She's like, I digress. I digress. I digress. And so we sat down, I think it was at, um, what's the breakfast place? First watch. First watch. And we were coming up with names. We were talking about names. We were like, this is the first thing we have to figure out. And we went through some cruising names. They were not good.
Um, and then I looked at her and I said, I digress.
Elena: Aha.
Desiree: It was our, and she was like, wait. I was like, and I was like. Yes. And then that one just [00:45:00] kind of stuck because it's, it's like an inside joke for us. Uh, she's always saying it. And that's literally what we're doing with you guys is digressing. Getting down to the nitty gritty, talking, just being who we are in front of the camera and just seeing how you guys like it.
Like that's literally the point of I digress.
Elena: Yes. Literally just going on tangents. Yeah. Like I, the whole idea of this show is like, we aren't gonna have, we're gonna name this episode one because what the hell else would we name it? Yeah. We'll be like, uh, story time about this, this, this, this, and this.
And then we also, like, I don't even know what we talked about. We included this too. Yeah. Like, it's just, I digress. We just doing it. And honestly, I'm cool with that. I don't care if nobody watches it. I'm gonna sit here and I'm gonna talk.
Desiree: Yeah.
Elena: But like.
Desiree: We love to talk. You should watch it. You should watch, um, you should definitely throw in things.
Sorry, that you want us to talk about though. 'cause I know that you guys have some ideas. 100%. And we love to talk. We do. We
Elena: don't promise you we won't show. We're gonna be at, like, we're probably gonna, we're getting lunch after this because. [00:46:00] Why would we not eat? We eat literally, why would we not eat? We eat you.
You will see a review also. Yeah, you'll see a food review. We were talking about that. We were like, oh, this is gonna be a podcast page. And all of a sudden all we did was food reviews and I was like, so now we're food review people. That's all we do all day long. And I lowkey debated like getting McDonald's before I came here and I was like, nah, I like to eat.
See she's healthy. Literally I went over there, um, I was introducing like a, like a, a a, a suitor, you know, a male suitor. I was introducing someone, you know, I was like, and you gotta go
Desiree: through me or something. Yeah.
Elena: Well, yeah. 'cause I don't trust anyone else to approve of people. Just because other people will be like, okay, Elena, whatever makes you happy and gets you outta my face.
I'm not that type of person. She's not that person. I'll tell you the honest god
Desiree: truth.
Elena: Yeah. So I brought, I bring him over, I'm like. Going over and we're playing games and, um, des like, makes food. And I'm like, I'm literally a cook. Why would I not do that? Exactly why you wouldn't, you know what I mean? Like, she's cooking all day and she makes food and she, and [00:47:00] he's like a gym guy or whatever.
Yeah. So she like made a very healthy meal,
Desiree: like meal spread.
Elena: It was like
Desiree: broccoli, rice, chicken, and it, it was like a Greek yogurt, garlic sauce. Like very healthy, very good. Something, something that I definitely always make.
Elena: Yeah. And, and we were sitting there and we were just eating quiet, quiet,
Desiree: hunched over, like someone was gonna steal their food.
Elena: And then you were like, I made something healthy. And he was like, I don't even re eat that healthy anyway. And you were like, like, okay, well fuck
Desiree: you. I'm like, I'm glad you don't have to eat healthy to stay fed, but I do. And it's
Elena: not working. Oh my God, bro. That's like one thing that's gonna piss me off this whole podcast.
I'm gonna be like,
Desiree: shut up dad. It's okay. My body is what my body is. I've had two kids. Don't judge me.
Elena: You got two kids, brought two wonderful lives into this world. Mm-hmm. Two
Desiree: of them. Okay.
Elena: That's another thing. Two of them. Oh my God. I wanna rant. I literally wanna rant it. I was on TikTok the other day.
Yeah. This is, no, there is no subject to our [00:48:00] podcast. No subject. But I, um, I was on TikTok the other day and it was one thing. It was like, name one thing. Uh, it was like, name one thing a woman invented or a woman created Bitch. You, I was literally like, you like name one thing a woman created you. I'm sorry.
Be so everyone. Imagine like sitting there being like, women can't make anything. Like, they didn't make you like
Desiree: looking at your mom like you didn't do anything.
Elena: Oh my. Like I wonder, I wonder that. That's crazy. I wonder how people who like think like that, like approach their mothers or like, do they show they have no respect for their mothers or their mama's boy or mama's girl?
'cause some girls are like that too. Pearl. Yeah. Sorry, that was really aggressive call out for the first episode. I didn't hear it, so hopefully they didn't. Yeah. Well I don't care if you did. I said what I said most of the time if I say anything on here, I'm gonna hit you with the I said what I said. She is that type of person.
I don't care. She
Desiree: is definitely that type of person. And we've talked, one thing that we did talk about heavily before starting a podcast [00:49:00] or starting even anything, TikTok, uh, Instagram with each other was things that have happened in our past. What could possibly be brought up, yada, yada. How would we handle situations where someone might not like what we're saying?
And I don't know what to tell you. Our conclusion has just been like, life is life and we all make mistakes and. They suck and they're horrible. And I apologize for all the mistakes I've ever made in this world. Before we even start this, I apologize for every mistake I've ever made in this entire world.
I don't, she doesn't,
Elena: I have no regrets. I apologize. She has no
Desiree: regrets. No regrets. No regret. I should get that to, I have every regret. Uh, life has been hard. It's been, it's been a long road. Um, but nobody's the same person they were when they were younger. And she's definitely not the same person when she, I'm not
Elena: the same person, but I'm not.
But she has no regrets. I have no regrets. No regrets. So do you see what I'm talking about where she's trying to be millennial here? See, hit me with therts. Like, I'm like, I can't help it, bro. The only thing, the only thing that I'm so glad [00:50:00] that, like you don't, millennial on is the British accent, the consistent random British.
Desiree: I, I can't let everybody see that.
Elena: I'm gonna make her do it one day. But like, it's, it's like, it's like one of those things. Again, most of, also, most of my other friends are millennials. Yeah. Oh, I'm 21 by the way, just in case anyone was wondering like, I can drink so I'm cool or whatever. Just thought everyone should know that
Desiree: I roll my eyes at her a lot because of what this is.
This is how she acts.
Elena: Okay. Now say your age.
Desiree: I already told her my age. Oh, I'm 20, 20, 27. I'm about to be 28. She's about be I'm almost 30. You are? That is ridiculous. Pause. I got some things to catch up with.
Elena: Look, ain't everyone loves a flirty 30. Okay. What is it? A flirty dirty 30. I'm gonna make a, I'm gonna make your Instagram caption.
Can I please? It's gonna be like everything that rhymes with 30. What do we should go to Myrtle Beach so we could be like flirty, dirty, nerdy [00:51:00] 30.
Desiree: Hot topic. Everyone hates Myrle Beach is what they call it. I love it. Oh, I had a great time beach. We went
Elena: there right after everything and it was, it was a lot.
Yeah, it was. There was, well, it wasn't a lot. No one was there and we were like, we here
Desiree: if you know what happened. You know what happened? I don't know what happened. Horrible thing that happened. I Myrtle Beach. But no, people call it murder beach, just in general. Okay. But I love Myrtle Beach. I think it's really cool.
Not family oriented, I'll say that, but if you want family oriented, go to ocean aisle. Sunset anywhere. But there Ocean is. Well, yeah. I love Ocean is Isle. Yeah. We vibe. I love it. That was always the beach to go to when you were younger, right? We had a little beach house out there. We'd go crabbing. Fishing.
Fishing. Okay. Bushie. Okay. Beach
Elena: house.
Desiree: My grandmother, her boyfriend was a pilot.
Elena: Oh. Oh, okay. Okay. I see you. No, I, um. My dad, like he works on septic tanks and stuff. Mm-hmm. Um, there's like a very technical [00:52:00] respectful name for it, and I'm not coming up on that right now. I'm sorry, dad, lady. He's gonna be like, Elena, Elena, you, I'll come back next time and correct it.
But he does that and he would take me with him to like the beach and stuff and it was fun. Mm-hmm. And he always just goes, so he's not afraid to like do a quick two hour drive. So sometimes he'll call me and be like, it's 6:00 AM beach. And I'm like, yeah,
Desiree: yeah,
Elena: 100%. And we just, I think about her, she's
Desiree: close with her dad and I don't love that so much.
He's such a sweet guy. Mm-hmm. We love that. Very sweet guy. We love him. He does everything for her.
Elena: Yes. No, he literally does everything for me. Like, um, I'm close with my mom and my dad. Mm-hmm. But my like. Me and my dad are like, he, um, changes my oil well. He'll, he'll take my car to get oil change. He will take my car to get an inspection for me.
I live an hour away from him. He will literally just drive to my parking lot and take my car with my spare key and then be like, your oil's changed. And I'm like, me under the car. Like
Desiree: I know. I'm like, I gotta fix all my stuff. Yeah. She
Elena: got, at that one time, my car wasn't starting. We were in a Walmart parking lot.
We were in a Walmart parking lot. And I was [00:53:00] like, starts card please. And we're like sitting there and she's like, try pressing the brake and then starting it. And I was like, no. I looked at her looked and I was
Desiree: like, I was like, all you gotta do, tap that gas about three times real quick while you turn the key and it's gonna, you just, your battery's dying.
Mm-hmm.
Elena: And
Desiree: I, and it went room and I was like, mm-hmm. And then she didn't listen to me and she was like, well, let's go get ice cream. Her car's dead. She's like, let's go get ice cream with my dead car. We get to the ice cream shop. I'm like, don't turn off your car no matter what you do. Two seconds later.
Turns off the car. It cranked back up amazingly. But it didn't once she got to her house, I'll tell you that. No.
Elena: Yeah, I did. I did get home and then my dad came and changed my battery. Yep. But, um, I, I just knew that we needed ice cream in that moment and it w it may have been raining and it may, my car may have not been starting, but God forbid a w like we all enjoyed that ice cream.
Did we not? I got a banana split. It was, it was some very
Desiree: good ice cream. I forget what I got. I think I got like mint something.
Elena: Yeah, it was toothpaste ice
Desiree: cream. She got toothpaste [00:54:00] ice cream. The people who hate on mint ice cream, I don't trust them. That's who I don't trust. I love mint ice cream.
Something about like the chocolate to mint ratio and it doesn't taste like toothpaste. It's sweet toothpaste.
Elena: Sweet toothpaste. Thank you. Sweet toothpaste with chocolate chips in it. Delicious. It's like when you get the fucking Barbie toothpaste and your kid, you're in freaking
Desiree: banana split. Banana splits are good.
Half the restaurants don't even serve banana splits anymore.
Elena: Yeah, because, um, they don't have culture. That's an old style dish. Okay. That is a cultured disc. I don't understand why anyone would not serve a banana split. You know what I'm a, I'm gonna go to your restaurant that we both used to work out and I'm gonna be like, y'all need to serve actually right now.
I know one of you gonna
Desiree: make
Elena: y'all need to serve a banana.
Desiree: Split the desserts.
Elena: Y'all need to serve a banana split. I'm sorry. She always does this. I'm
Desiree: gonna go to the restaurant and I'm gonna tell them this. Not knowing. I'm the one that literally does the food ordering. I do, yeah. The making of things and the figuring out of things.
Elena: And yet I have yet to [00:55:00] seen any of my wonderful ideas put into action. Okay. Imagine this. Nobody's eating a banana sweat. Imagine this. My subway order. So good. Oh my gosh. Bread mayonnaise pickle. Spread. That's it. Why is it so quiet? Because where's the meat? That's a good, that's a good sandwich. Tuna sub.
Okay. And she gets the subway tuna. So what I also get, see tuna eat healthy. That's the crazy thing. I
Desiree: eat healthy and she eats like that. I like a pickle sandwich. Pickle mayo sandwich on bread. Did you even put the bread in it or are we just eating the pickles with the mayo?
Elena: No, I put bread on it. It's the, it's the Italian bread.
The full, I get the fucking 12 inch sub with mayonnaise and pickle on it. And I get a diet Dr. Pepper. Pepper, pepper. Yes. I get a diet Dr. Pepper and I eat it and it's delicious. Yeah. Every time we go to Costco, diet Dr. Pepper, y'all, I love some diet Dr. [00:56:00] Pepper. It's, I get a 36 pack at the Costco and it's $17 and I, and I bet it's already
Desiree: gone.
Elena: It's not gone. We went like four days ago. It's not gone. I, I have 12 left. What is wrong with that? That's
Desiree: the amount of water you're supposed to be drinking. Not Dr. Pepper.
Elena: I drink Liquid iv. Does that count as water? She
Desiree: tries to like replenish herself after drinking so much. Dr. Pepper? I
Elena: do, I do try to be somewhat healthy.
I like to lift, I like to work out, but like, I don't know how she does it.
Desiree: Yeah. I don't know how she doesn't pass out on the floor with her diet.
Elena: Look, I think, you know, I drink a lot of protein shakes. I think that helps. I do I be drinking my protein shakes? Does that help? I
Desiree: don't know,
Elena: but I I'm fine with your pickled
Desiree: cheese sandwich.
Elena: Yeah. You didn't put cheese on it, did you? No. No cheese. It's just pickle. I, I, I hate that I have to repeat this. It is a 12 inch white sub Italian with pickles and mayonnaise on it, and I eat it and it's delicious. It's amazing. There's nothing in there. Pickles
Desiree: and mayonnaise is
Elena: in the suck. That is not, that's like
Desiree: a tomato mayo sandwich.
Elena: No, it's not. It's very different. [00:57:00] A banana. Have you ever heard of banana Mayo sandwich? No. Yeah, that sounds sick. Bananas and mayonnaise on bread. I've past. I've seen people eat it,
Desiree: like literally eat it like it was the best thing in the world.
Elena: I could do bananas and peanut butter.
Desiree: Everybody can do bananas.
Peanut butter, A little granola on top.
Elena: Not everyone can. Okay. No granola.
Desiree: Gr granola with some honey. Oh wait,
Elena: I kind of, I,
Desiree: it's like putting chips
Elena: in sandwich on. A little
Desiree: on, what are they called? The little Quaker crisp
Elena: on a quake. Oh, okay. A little banana. Oh, a little. Yeah. Why are you doing that? Little banana?
I can't do anything around her. She's like, Ugh. Stop doing
Joe: that.
Elena: Okay guys, thank you so much for giving us the time to talk about sandwiches and Karens and whatever we talked about. I honestly don't even remember.
