Good morning. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 2:

Okay. So this is a one mile five k race to celebrate the longest day of the year, which, here in Juneau is one of my favorite things. I mean, just the fact that there's a you know, it starts getting light at, 03:00 in the morning. It stays light until well after ten. Tell me about the event and what folks need to do to participate.

Speaker 3:

Speaker 3:

So first come, first serve. If you want an event T shirt and you haven't signed up yet, that's your chance is that same day registration. The costume contest is at 08:30PM, and we have an awesome list of prizes for businesses around Juno include including Juno Greens, NAO, Pavits, as well as a few others that have also donated some spot as sponsors to help us put this awesome event on.

Speaker 2:

You gotta describe some of the costumes over the years that have been your favorites.

Speaker 3:

So, we've the Juno, Douglas High School cross country team has been putting on this event. This will be the third year now as a fundraiser. A few years ago, we had a group of people who showed up, dressed as rain in Juneau, and they just did an amazing job. They made raindrops. They had umbrellas.

Speaker 3:

It was, it was a big group. That was definitely one of the more memorable ones that I've seen.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that is fun. That is fun. How long have you been a runner?

Speaker 3:

Probably fifteen years.

Speaker 2:

And, you know, it's funny because and I I used to run. I I don't I don't do much running anymore. But but what I loved about, running is the freedom. And here in this community, there are so many great trails, experiences to have. And I I don't know who it is.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I mean to pull over sometimes and just say hi because this one person is running. It doesn't matter what the weather is, but they're out there the every morning that I'm on my way to the radio station, which is usually around 05:00 in the morning. You know? And usually running with their dogs, which I I thought was just fabulous. But even even during some of the snowstorms we were driving through, like, there there was that person running along, Douglas, which is inspiring, really, when you think about it.

Speaker 2:

Remind everybody one more time what they need to do if they're gonna participate this weekend.

Speaker 3:

So, you can check out our website online and register through there, through Saturday. But if you wanna come in person Saturday night starting at 7PM at Centennial Hall, just walk in the ballroom, and you can register there in person. And then we have a limited supply of T shirts available for purchase. So, those that show up first can purchase a t shirt. We've got a great new design this year as well.

Speaker 3:

Todd Mace put that together. We're really excited about kind of our rebrand. And then costume contest is at 08:30PM, And then we'll line people up and start at 9PM. The the five k and the one mile both start at 9PM. You don't have to run.

Speaker 3:

You can show up and walk. You can power hike. You can bring your strollers. You can bring kids can bring bikes, whatever you need to, to get through and have fun.

Speaker 2:

Fantastic. Only fools run a night this, this Saturday. Abby, thanks for coming in this morning.

Speaker 3:
