What is ...But God?

A weekday morning devotional series written by Aaron Marcarelli and hosted by Chad McBeam

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”
Matthew 5:8-9 NASB2020
Being Pure means to be free from any contamination. How do we become pure, when we are so contaminated by the world? The answer is easy but the follow through is not. We know the answer in Jesus and His redemptive love. It His love, through the power of the Holy Spirit that gives us a pure heart. We keep the pure heart by following Jesus with child like faith. Knowing that our pure hearted faith will be rewarded at the end of the age. “Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope set on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” 1John 2:3-4
Further, We should all strive to be peacemakers. However, there are some who are more gifted at it than others. If that is not our gifting we should gravitate towards those who are and learn from them as we learn from the Prince of Peace.
We read in Isaiah “For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of armies will accomplish this.”
Isaiah 9:6-7 NASB2020. The ultimate Peacemaker is Christ our Lord. The true and eternal peace will occur only at the end of the age through the power of the army of God. But how do we live in peace when we are at war with sin in society on a daily basis? It is only through Christ our Savior and following Him with a pure child like heart.

Finally, The writer of Hebrews gives this blessing and I leave you with it today:

“Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, that is, Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Hebrews 13:20-21 NASB2020
