More Than We See

What happens when something you experience no longer fits neatly into the way you've always understood the world?
Maybe you knew something you shouldn't have known. Maybe a dream was a little too specific. Maybe you're remembering experiences you had as a kid that you haven't thought about in years. Or maybe enough small things have happened that you've simply started paying attention.
In this episode of More Than We See, Natalie talks about what happened when she began paying attention to her own intuitive experiences again, the years it took to learn the difference between receiving information and interpreting it, and why becoming more open to what we can't explain doesn't mean assigning spiritual meaning to everything.
You don't need to have the universe figured out. You can be curious, learn your own patterns, trust what you know - and still go pick up the groceries.
Have some tea and stay for a spell.

What is More Than We See?

More Than We See is a grounded, practical conversation about intuition as a human sense and capacity.

Hosted by Natalie of Immersive Spirit, this podcast blends lived experience, nervous-system–informed insight, and real-world tools to help people better understand how perception, sensitivity, and intuition are experienced—and how to work with them in everyday life across kids, teens, families, and adults.

Episodes explore the many ways intuitive awareness is felt and understood—from curiosity and excitement, to subtle noticing, to moments that challenge what we thought we knew. Along the way, conversations offer practical perspectives, simple tools, and steady ways of relating to intuition so it supports daily life rather than overwhelms it. This is a place to land for people who are curious, overwhelmed, skeptical, sensitive, living intuitively, or simply paying attention in a new way.

No hype. No dramatizing. Just clear conversation, lived insight, and practical ways of working with what we sense—alongside the quiet truth that there is more than we see, and that understanding it can make life feel steadier, clearer, and more alive.

…I think one of the stranger things about changing how you see the world is that most of the time absolutely nothing around you changes with it. You still have to go to work There is still laundry somewhere that needs to be folded. Someone needs to figure out what's for dinner. Your kids always need something The dog needs to go outside. And meanwhile somewhere in the middle of all of that.
You might be thinking, okay, I don't know if I believe what I used to believe anymore. And I'm not even talking specifically about becoming spiritual. Like sometimes something just happens that doesn't fit very well inside the way you use to explain the world. Maybe you knew something you shouldn't have known. Maybe you had a dream that was a little too specific.
Maybe you thought about someone that you hadn't thought about in years and they called you in a few minutes after that or maybe you had a whole collection of little things over years they were easy enough to dismiss when they happened. Then one day you started putting them together and you thought…
What exactly do I do with that? Because that's really the that I'm interested in. What do you do when the whole way of everything you've always understood becomes a little less certain. Welcome back to more than we see I'm Natalie. And I've talked before about having experiences when I was young.
I think sometimes people hear someone say that especially someone who does intuitive work professionally and it sounds like the beginning of a very tidy story. I had abilities as a child lost touch with them rediscovered them and now here I am Wasn't really like that I had experiences when I was young…But if you really think back you might have too. And I'm not saying everybody had some dramatic encounter with dead relative standing at the end of their bed like my sister, or bangs and bumps in the night had your dad pulling his service revolver and walking around the house because his daughter was afraid. That one was me. Maybe yours was much quieter or smaller.
Remember when the phone actually rang and you didn't know who was calling? How many times did you actually know? You'd yell mom his grandma before anybody answered it. Maybe there was a house you hated going to that you couldn't explain why. Or maybe you had a dream that came true in some strange little way.
Maybe there was someone you didn't like as a kid even though everybody told you they were perfect nice. You didn't have a reason. Something about them just felt wrong. We don't necessarily think of those things as important when we're kids. And eventually someone explains them, or we explain them ourselves.
Or we just grow up and there are about a thousand things demanding our attention. That's pretty much what happened to me. Like I didn't spend…
my entire life walking around thinking about intuition…
I grew I didn't think about it all when I was a kid and I grew up I went to school I got married I had kids, I built a career I got a divorce, for bills and deadlines and groceries to buy…and approximately four million other things that needed to happen before anybody get out the door in the morning. And I think that's what I mean when I say I lost touch with some of this It wasn't necessarily gone…
I wasn't sitting there one day thinking I've decided I don't believe in this anymore. Life just got really loud. And I think we sometimes tell these stories backwards…or where somebody ended I can look at myself now and point to things happened when I was young and say yeah Well obviously, except it wasn't obvious then. If my dad was walking around our house with a service revolver because I heard something, wasn't lying in bed thinking interesting. This will probably become relevant in work as a medium someday.
I was a kid who heard something and was scared. That's what it was at that time. You don't know which things are going to matter later. For a long time mine were just things that had happened Eventually, I started paying attention to them again. And this is probably where people expect some a normal enormous spiritual awakening.
Wish I had one of those stories I mean I have a few keys but…
and make it all easier. But for me I think it was more like remembering and noticing getting curious enough to learn, or relearn, really. Because I do believe these are all natural abilities I don't believe there's a tiny group of special people walking around with access to something the rest of humanity didn't get. Think about walking into your house and knowing that somebody's mad or pissed off before he months as a word. You haven't even put your purse down yet.
Nobody has told you what happened but you know…
but we usually don't call that intuition. We would just say I could just tell. Okay. What could you tell And how…
there may be a perfectly ordinary donation Maybe somebody's face changed when you walked it. Maybe the house was unusually quiet. Maybe your brain picked up ten little things before your consciously registered any of them. That's fascinating to me too. Because we're talking all about that information that we take in at that time And then there are the other experiences where the explanation isn't nearly as easy to find And I've had plenty of those.
What changed for me was I started clocking them. I paid attention to what happened before I decided what I thought about it And eventually I started actively developing this. I practiced. I tracked things. I learned how information showed up for me.
I learned that what was I was good at and where I'd get myself in trouble That's when it got really really interesting. And we wrote this down for iOS. Anyway because once you doing this on purpose you discover…something that's kind of inconvenient. You're still you. If you're scared, you're bringing that into the room with you If you desperately want the answer to be yes, That's in there too So in your own experiences and all the assumptions, you don't even realize you're making.
I've been wrong Of course I have. I thought something was intuition and realized later, that I was having anxiety I've also interpreted information through my own experience and bias. That's easy to do. Someone can tell me something and I think I know exactly what it means because I've lived through something familiar. And I realized later no that part was that was mine.
The information may have been perfectly good I was the one who put the story on top of it. That distinction…
took practice. It still takes practice. And then I've had experiences where there really isn't a good way for me to explain how I knew what I knew. So yeah. It's messy.
And I've gotten much more comfortable with kind of living in the gray And living in the mess. But after you've had enough things happen that you don't quite fifth the way everything you always understood as the world. It does start to move things around a little You become willing to consider something you might have laughed at ten years ago, and sometimes that's surprisingly lonely. I don't mean because you become enlightened and everyone else is wondering around down there waiting to catch up, please…Can have an incredible intuitive session and twenty minutes later be for my phone when I'm holding it in my hand. I'm talking about the much more ordinary problem of, who do I tell?
Say you've always been the skeptical one Then one night something happens in your house. That you genuinely cannot explain. Are you calling your equally skeptical friend in the morning and saying, What's going on? And maybe you do…
But I can hear that phone call. Okay. Before I tell you this, you have to promise you're not going to make fun of me. Or maybe you do start looking for people to talk about this stuff like our community, and I don't mean to be doing plugs It's just kind of naturally fitting. And you do discover another problem.
You tell someone what happened and you finish the story, they've explained the entire thing to you. It was your guide It happened because you're ascending. Here's the lesson of your soul that you're learning, and the universe apparently has a fairly detailed action plan for you. Meanwhile you're sitting there thinking I just wanted to tell somebody that the light turned on by itself. That middle space is one I know really well.
I believe there is more happening than what we immediately see. Obviously, this podcast would have a fairly serious branding problem otherwise. But I don't need to have an explanation for every single thing that happens. I do think most of us are uncomfortable sitting there for very long though. We like explanations because…
Once we name something once once we give it a direction, It feels a little bit more manageable…
And when an old explanation stops working, it's really tempting to replace that immediately. I've had to learn not to do that If something weird happens in my house I don't if they decided spirit And it happened this week and that one happened to be spirit But I didn't automatically aside…that that experience was spirit. Maybe the just the furnace kicked on air conditioning. Maybe something shifted. How's this shift all the time They're made of wood and bread and, you know maybe one of the kids did something and I forgot that they were going to be out light I can check the obvious things first.
And yes sometimes a weird coincidence is just a weird coincidence. Although coincidence happens less on my skill the more I know. Anyway. Sometimes I think about someone because something reminded me of them, and I didn't consciously notice that I walked by a picture on a wall that reminded me of them. Sometimes my body picks up something about another person before my brain catches up.
And sometimes I don't have a good explanation. I've become okay with putting those things in the…
I don't know what that was pile. But I do wanna make a distinction here because this is important in terms of how actually work. When I'm talking about not knowing, I'm talking about things that I'm trying to introvert myself. Like a coincidence or a feeling or something weird that happened in my house. I can leave…those alone for a while When Spirit is actually working with me and tells me who they are they give me information.
That's different for me. I trust them I will stand on all ten toes and defend with their giving me. And that didn't happen because one day I decided I was going to believe every thought that popped into my head. I spent years learning the difference between receiving information and me trying to make sense of something. Here's a really simple version.
If I'm sitting there thinking I wonder if that means and then building an explanation from there that's me working something out. When information comes in during a session sometimes I'm saying it before I understand why it matters. The person sitting across from me is the one who knows exactly what I'm talking about. Those are very different experiences for me. Learning that difference is part of developing.
I think this is where the world view changes…
can become much bigger than they need to be to you have one experience you can't explain And suddenly you're questioning everything you've ever believed. I've seen people do that. I've probably done versions of that myself. You don't have to figure out the entire universe because something weird happened on a Tuesday. And the information…
that's what I started doing If something happened more than once I paid attention to that. If I got a particular feeling and then something consistently followed it, I paid attention to that too That's how you start learning your own patterns. For me developing my intuition was much more like memorizing…a list of what things were supposed to mean. And you know say my stomach drops I can immediately side my intuition is warning me. But maybe my stomach also drops because I'm anxious, or I haven't eaten anything yet Or I'm about to have a really difficult conversation.
And those body somatics you can you can pull that into part of intuition but there are so many things…So now I have to know myself well enough to start telling a difference And that's what takes time. The same thing happened with receiving I had to learn what it felt like when something just arrived versus…when I was pushing or reaching for an answer because I really wanted one. Sometimes I still have to leave something alone instead of squeezing it until it gives me an answer. This isn't a system you graduate from These are the systems that we're living inside of our intuitive operating system, and we literally have a program for that but this is I promise you this is not meant to be a sale with a podcast. Let's move on Okay So…
If I've learned through all of this what I've learned is you stay in your life, I mean that in the most ordinary, possible way. I still go to work I still get pissed off in traffic. I still have family stuff and house stuff and things sitting on the encounter and apparently everyone else…
has agreed to not see it. Like I'm the only one that sees it in my house sometimes. I can have a really profound experience with spirit. And later that afternoon, I'm figuring out what we're having for dinner. That's not me dropping out of some higher state.
That's life. I don't want intuition to take me out of it I don't want spirituality to make every conversation, every bump. About spirituality. I have people in my life who couldn't care less about this stuff and that's fine. We can talk about something else because I don't think noticing more should make your world smaller.
If every decision has to be checked for a sign if every person you meet has to have some kind of spiritual role in your life. If you can't make a mistake without wondering what the universe was trying to teach you and that sounds exhausting…
And I've been there. But you know sometimes I make it bad to because I simply made a bad decision…
Sometimes, somebody annoys me because they're annoying me And sometimes the thing on the kitchen counter is there because nobody put it away. That's life too I mean there's you will have times where your bad decisions…might be turn into something a little more spiritual Like, recently over the last few months, my spirit guides were putting up guardrails, and I was making bad decisions. And I continue to make that decision so they finally…put that guardrail all the way in my lane and said this is for real and we're gonna do this. Your bad decisions can push you into that spiritual corner I'm not saying they won't. Maybe some of you listening are in this weird middle space right now Something happened and you haven't told anybody, or you're remembering things for when you were young, and you haven't thought about him in years.
Maybe you've decided to start paying attention. To that little knowing that you get before the phone rings. Or the way your body reacts around certain people. Our dreams that seem to have more going on than you used to think. You don't have to do anything dramatic with it and you certainly don't have to agree with me about what it is.
Maybe you've been listening to this podcast because you're curious. But you're still not entirely sure what you think about me. That's fair. Have some tea and say for as well. See what you notice.
If something happens, start what with what actually happened. Let's say you wake up at three in the morning. From a dream about an old friend. And the next day maybe that person texts you. What do you actually know?
You had a dream, they contacted you the next day. That's what happened. Maybe you decide those things are connected, maybe you don't. Maybe it happens three more times over the year and you start getting a little more curious…
That's how you explore this without forcing yourself into a belief that you aren't ready for. You don't have to talk yourself out of what happened you also don't have to turn turn in and decide that that was something bigger…before you know what you're actually thinking about it. Just keep paying attention. After all these years I believe we're born, with more natural awareness than we give ourselves credit for as we grow. And I think if you sit with somebody long enough over a cup of team and start asking…about when they were little you'd be surprised…by how many people have a story.
I used to know I used to see My mom still talks about the weird thing I did. Then we grew up. We learned what counted as reasonable. We got busy We stopped paying attention to some things because there were a lot of other things that needed our attention. For me something eventually brought me back around.
I started remembering, and then I started practicing thing and then I started doing paranormal investigations to help others who were afraid of spirit just simply because I wasn't for some weird reason. And somewhere in all of that, something that had been sitting quietly in the background for most of my life, became something I understood how to use again and I'm still learning my understanding…
of it has changed over the years. And I'm sure there are things I believe today that I'll understand differently ten years from now and that's okay with me. When I don't want more than we see to become as a place where I sit here every week and explain the universe to you. I don't know how the whole thing works. I know what I've experienced.
I know what I've learned through doing this work. I know in spirit talking to me and I still I will stand on all ten toes for them. And there are still plenty of things that make me go…
I don't know what that was, and there's room for both in my life. And there can be room for both in yours too. So if something has started changing in the way you see the world you don't have to rush to figure it out or to figure out what that says about you or what that makes you. Just pay attention If it happens again clock it. If you're curious learn more.
And if you're sitting there thinking I swear used to do this when I was a kid. Maybe you did. You can pull on that thread a little without unraveling everything else. And then yes. Go pick up your groceries, call your friend back.
Move the thing that's been sitting on the kitchen counter for three days. Whatever else may exist beyond what we see we're still living here in this moment, and I don't want you to miss a part of it. Because of being too busy to look for the rest. I'll see you next week on more than we see…
