Annie picked the salt off her pretzels for years while cramps pulled her out of the pool. This week Ryan and Annie take Matthew 5:13 literally: what salt actually does in the body, why the white stuff in the blue canister is not food, and what it means to draw the flavor of Christ out of the people around you.
Health in the Spirit is a Christian health and wellness podcast with Dr. Ryan and Annie DeNome, a chiropractor and a theologian raising a family in Cincinnati, Ohio. Each week they bring holistic health, the wisdom of the healing saints, and the teaching of the Church into one conversation about how to live well, body and soul. Rooted in Saints, Scripture, and the Catechism, the show explores what the ancient wisdom of the Church has to say about the modern health crisis: nutrition, movement, rest, healing, and raising a healthy family. New episodes every Tuesday, beginning July 7, 2026.
[00:00] You found us. Come on in. We're just getting started. This is Health in the Spirit. I'm Annie DeNome. And I'm Dr. Ryan. And each week we're going to be sitting down with you at our kitchen table to talk about where modern medicine meets the wisdom of Christianity. So that we can learn how to take care of our bodies like we're going to live forever and our soul like we're going to die tomorrow. Pour yourself something warm. And pull up a chair. Welcome back to the kitchen table, guys. Thanks for joining us again for another week. This week we are going to be talking about Matthew 5, verse 13. You are the salt of the earth. We've probably got a very different take on this than you've heard before. If you've heard somebody preach on this, heard it on another podcast,
[00:44] you've probably got a very different take on Matthew 5, 13. But before we get into that, let's go ahead and say a quick prayer. Jesus, thank you so much for the gift of sunshine and heat and humidity. It feels so good outside on this Friday afternoon when we're recording this. And I just ask that you bless everybody listening to this podcast right now, their drives to work, their time with their kids, their alone time at the gym, on a run in the early morning. And you just allow this podcast to touch somebody's heart out there and bring them closer to you. Amen. And with that, Annie's going to kind of introduce the topic of today because this is something very near and dear to her heart specifically.
[01:28] Although it is like we're going to be talking about things that both of us are definitely very close with. But I'll let Annie go ahead and take it away here with what we're going to be talking about. Yeah. So I wrote a reflection on this quite a while ago. And I'm sure like once we, you know, have a Substack, I'll put it on there. But something that from the very beginning of Ryan and I's relationship, it's been memento mori. And memento mori means remember your death. And we have it actually inscribed in our wedding bands. Yeah. Yeah. Talk about, you know, really remembering. Anyway, so memento mori, remember your death. We'll go into that a whole nother podcast. But I had this idea of like, how do we really turn this idea of memento mori into a lifestyle? Because remembering your death can kind of be morbid sometimes.
[02:16] Not morbid, but also like... Well, I think just the off the rip, the sentence itself sounds morbid. But when you actually get down to the meaning of it, like you're remembering your death so that you can live. Yeah. Kind of like Christian YOLO, but better. Yeah. Christian YOLO, remember your death. But anyway, so really kind of getting into this mindset of like, I want to remember my death. But I need, like, we need tangible things as humans to be able, like, to make progress. Like, I need a goal. Like, I need practical things to progress in this life. So I was like, how do I remember this idea of memento mori?
[02:59] And I really thought about salt because there's this Bible verse. Well, in Corinthians, Paul kind of talks about running the race well. And so as to when, and I was kind of going back in my mind, like, okay, I have a story about salt. I have a journey about salt. Okay. So ever since, and this will tie into what we do here at the Wellness Way and what we do in our life. Because salt was one of the first things that we implemented into our health, like changing our salt. And we will get into that in a second. But kind of backstory, which probably described, like, is probably why I have tons of health issues because I never ate salt. But, like, I, growing up, like, as a little kid, I hated salt. I hated salty foods.
[03:44] Like, it made me just. Picked the salt off of her pretzels. Yeah. Literally. Except, which is weird. I really loved pickles. So I don't know what the issue was there. I really loved pickles, but I picked the salt off of other things. I don't know why. Anyway, weird. But as an endurance athlete. Guys, why didn't, why did I not have the tools I have now, 10 years ago, 15 years ago? Because I swear, if I had the tools that we have now, I probably, well, I probably wouldn't be here. Because I'd probably be a professional athlete. That's a bold claim. I'd be a stay-at-home dad, I guess. Well, yeah. Yeah, I probably wouldn't have gone to Franciscan because I would have. That's fair. I would have, like, you know, I already had scholarships for cycling. Other things and other programs, I would have, you know, either gone swimming or, like, swimming triathlon or cycling route.
[04:35] But anyway, so as an athlete, anybody who knows me as a swimmer knew that I had horrible cramping. And I'm not talking about BMS. I am talking about these intense, horrible cramps in my legs. Like, I, like, it was so, these intense, horrible cramps in my legs would pull me out of practice. I couldn't, I couldn't kick. That's part of why you started drinking pickle juice. Yeah. I was going to get there. Sorry, sorry, sorry. So I, so I had this, I, this intense problem of cramping. I would get out of the water. It would affect my, my runs. It would affect my, my rides.
[05:18] It affected a lot, this intense cramping. And, like, in my high school brain, I did not put it together that, like, oh, maybe I need electrolytes. Maybe I need more salt. I was living a pretty low salt lifestyle because I was picking it off of everything. Electrolytes were also not, I don't remember a single, like, aside from drink some Gatorade, back in 2010, I don't think anybody was talking about electrolytes. Yeah, but, like, but, like, I had this weird thing was, like, I was healthy. Like, I, I had a great friend who planted a lot of seeds in my life of health that she kind of, like, was pushing me in the direction of, like, electrolytes. But we, we didn't have that label on it yet, like, electrolytes. They had some weird drink that they had at their chiropractic office that was really salty.
[06:04] And I was, like, heck, no, not doing that. And then, but on the other side of that, they taught me that Gatorade was full of sugar and, like, that wasn't good either. So, I was kind of stuck in this in-between. So, I was suffering from these intense cramps. I literally was not taking any supplements as an athlete. Like, that's foolish. And, like, I was, guys, I was working out, like, four plus hours a day. Like, intense workouts. And if you want an even deeper reason as to why she was suffering. I wasn't just out here playing tennis, okay, or, like, soccer. And if you want to know the full story behind all of that, go watch episode two. Yeah, go watch my story. But, anyway, this is, like, the athlete portion of this. So, didn't have electrolytes, didn't have the tools, wasn't taking supplements, intense cramps. And then I, then my coach recommended, like, let's start drinking pickle juice.
[06:51] And so, that kind of got my wheels turning. That did help my cramps. It was just this crazy thing. So, this is where, like, kind of salt came in. And, like, when I was reading the Bible about Corinthians, I was, like, run as so to win the race. I was, like, salt, salt. You have to be, like, you have to be the salt of the earth. This connects to memento mori. This, to be the salt of the earth, to run the race well, is to be the salt of the earth. And, that's kind of what made it click in my, in my brain, is that, you know, my whole backstory of being an athlete, not having salt. When I didn't have salt, when I didn't have electrolytes, I suffered as an athlete. That's why I didn't go pro. That's the only reason.
[07:33] That's the only reason. If somebody still wants to sign her, please, please shoot us a DM. I'm sure somebody's going to listen to this and be, like, what is she talking about? But, I fully believed I could have done that. Anyway, because my mentality is endurance. My mentality is long-term. Anyway, that's a side note. But, so, when I was an athlete, not ingesting salt, not taking care of my body, not having electrolytes, I did not run the race well. My body physically couldn't keep up because I wasn't fueling it. So, that's kind of where this idea comes from, of how to live memento mori in the everyday, but also something that Ryan and I, that was the foundation of our health, kind of, this is where we started on the foundation of our health.
[08:22] Like, salt was one of the first things that we traded in for a healthier swap when we first got to know what was going on in our health. Yeah, and I think it was, like, starting with your salt and your seasoning, like, things that you put on your food that make them taste good, is some of the easiest swaps you could make because, like, if, like, I mean, well, let me back up a second. When we're thinking about salt, a lot of people think about, like, Morton iodized salt, that white salt that's bleached. It has all of the nutrients and minerals completely stripped out of it. It's honestly useless. It's really just sodium chloride. When we're talking about, like, real good salt, like, if we're thinking about tiers of salt, right, when we're stacking these up, thinking about what other nutrients are in there, right,
[09:11] natural salt in the wild, in the salt mines, actually has other micronutrients, a little bit of, like, your manganese, chromium, zinc, all of these little things, potassium, magnesium, a little bit of everything comes in salt when it's naturally occurring in the earth. When we're talking about Morton iodized salt, table salt, the little salt packets that you get when you're out at a restaurant or, like, comes with your little, like, boxed lunch or whatever, those are all bleached and all the other nutrient content's been taken out except for that sodium chloride. So when we're talking about the hierarchy of salt, we've got that at the very bottom. Then a step up above that, pink Himalayan salt. Most people in today's age have pink Himalayan sea salt at their house. They've used it before.
[09:54] They at least know what it is. The next kind of layer above that, I would say, and these are probably tied for, like, top layer, we're talking about, like, brands like Baja Gold, Redmond Real Salt, Celtic Sea Salt, like, any of those things that actually have all of the naturally occurring minerals in it. There are, when it comes to pink Himalayan sea salt, sometimes there's some coloring that is involved making it pink and it's not actually, like, truly, like, mineral salt. But having some sort of mineral salt is the easiest way. It doesn't taste any different than the Morton iodized salt, and you only get benefit out of it. So that's a super easy swap. Yeah, that table salt is cheap. Bleed.
[10:37] Whoa. I don't know if I'm going to leave that in there or not. What is happening? Are you drunk right now? No, is she? It's only 9 a.m. Oh, my gosh. It really is. It's bad. It's bad for you. That Morton iodized salt is just, like, has no... It's really useless. It's useless. It's not necessarily, like, evil. It's just useless. It's just, yeah. It's not good for you. But, you know, we... Salt is... Second to water, salt is the most... Second to water, salt is the most essential nutrient for the body. Like what you just said. Has all those minerals that we need to literally feed ourselves to function. Yeah, and I think, kind of just breaking down what Annie just said there a little bit more,
[11:22] like, everybody loves to say, like, you learn in, like, fifth grade science class, your body is 60 or 70% water. But it's really 60 to 70% fluid. And fluid is water with stuff in it. And one of those big things being salt, sodium. Yeah, and I think also, too, this is really funny, you guys, is, like, whenever we were making, like... And all of our friends experience this, too, like, with their families, like, the older boomer generation. Sorry, guys. Sorry if you're older and you're listening to this. But you guys have been drilled into, by the government, that salt is bad. And, like, I know... Sorry, my grandma. I love you. Sorry, gran. I'm going to say this. Every time we go to her house, she's like, make sure there's no salt in there.
[12:07] Oh, my gosh. It's going to hurt my heart. And I'm like... Craziest... No, hold on. Wait, wait, wait, stop there for a second. She says that, but if she doesn't say that, and I've already seasoned it, she's like, oh, my gosh. This is the best food I've ever had. Because it has salt on it. Yeah. I mean, it's just incredible. Like, salt, yeah. It's just, like, so... Even with her issues, she needs salt. Like, the doctors have been telling her, do not take salt, blah, blah, blah. That's literally, like, what she needs to be helped. Like, it's like... Yeah. All of your nutrients and minerals get in and out of your cells through the sodium and potassium pump. We can have a whole other podcast on potassium.
[12:52] You need 4,500-ish milligrams of potassium a day. What Bible verses relate to potassium? No shot anybody's getting that in. So you can supplement with that all you want, and you're not going to have an issue. But you need sodium and potassium to get things in and out of your cell. Sodium, potassium pump. So it is very essential. And I think it's just been... It's very much been demonized throughout the years. And part of that demonization came when we stripped it of all of the other things that are good for you in salt, and just made it this bleached version in this, like, sad version of what it is, like, created as. So when Matthew 5 talks about it, I'll let Annie say this part a little bit.
[13:36] But, like, when we're talking about being salty, it's not like this stripped-down version. It's like this full... Like, salt allows you to be... It, like, brings out the flavor in food. It brings, like, out the quality of life in our athletes. So, like, Annie kind of hit on the scripture verse a little bit here. So, like, even, like, when you salt food, like what Ryan was saying, like, at my grandma's house, when you salt food, salt is meant to bring the flavor from within out. So, like, think about that in a spiritual sense. When Jesus is saying, like, he is so wise. Like, obviously, he's, like, the most... He is God. He is God. He actually knows everything. He knows everything.
[14:17] So he's wise. But in his wisdom, when he says, be the salt of the earth, there are so many layers to that verse, okay? So, like, what we just talked about, like, we literally as humans need salt. We need minerals to thrive. And, like, good salt. Good salt. And they had good salt back then when he was saying this. We need good salt to thrive as human beings physically, but also in a spiritual sense that when we draw the essence out from one another, that should be Christ. And when we are salt, Christ should be drawn out from within us, if that makes sense. Yeah, it should, like, when... Yeah, exactly that. When we're the salt of the earth as Christians, we should be drawing that life out of each
[15:04] other and, like, we should have more life within us because of that. Yeah. Yeah. So, and not just Jesus, not just Christ. I think that can get ambiguous. But, like, literally what we've talked about in this podcast so many times is, like, becoming the version that he made you to be. Like, becoming fully alive. Becoming joyful. Becoming, like, thriving in your gifts. Like, what we talked about in the talents podcast. It's not just, like, I'm going to be, you know, have the fruits of the Holy Spirit. That comes from being the best version of yourself, I guess. So. Yeah, absolutely. And, I mean, what, I mean, I don't know if you were going to go into this or not, but if you have another thought, you can, you can say it. But I've got a question for you just because you've, like, really done a lot more of a deep
[15:48] dive in some of the scriptural, like, theological aspects of things. What is one way that people can become a little bit more salty? I was going to save that for the end. Okay, just kidding. We'll get there. We'll get there. TBD. Ryan, I was going to talk about that at the end because I feel like then it gives people things to think about. Okay, fair. The rest of the day. But, like. I'm just thinking about it right now. So, I'm sure other people are too. So, I asked the question. No, yeah. There's so many ways. And I, yeah. There's so many ways to be salty. Save it for the end, though. No, do what you're going to do. It's fine. But also, wait. I have another point on us being, drawing out the essence. It's Jesus. Jesus is the perfect salt. Okay?
[16:30] Hmm. He, so, it's like this idea of, like, we have to be the salt of the earth. So, we're going to draw the essence of Christ in ourselves. We're going to draw out the essence of each one another. But, which leads into your question, kind of, maybe. This is a good bridge. I guess we're already at the end, people. Maybe we're at the end. And maybe God just wants us to be concise here. But, Jesus is the perfect salt. So, spending that time in prayer, he is the perfect salt, which draws out the best of us. So, like, we have to spend time in prayer for him to draw the best in us. Does that make sense?
[17:12] Spending time in prayer? But, as you're talking, I'm just thinking about, like, the Holy, like, being filled with the Holy Spirit as well. Like, we've had a bunch of different people on this podcast talk about. So, like, being filled with the Holy Spirit allows you almost to know the proper time to sprinkle your salt in other people's lives as well. Just a thought that came to mind there. Yeah, that's good. Yeah. And I really think it's only through that time in prayer that you're going to be able to, like, really call upon the Holy Spirit, I guess. So, to, like, go back to what you were saying a little bit. But that, like, just being open to the whispers of the Holy Spirit throughout your daily life is going to allow you to be, to, like, know when and where to pour out salt. Because I think we've all had that meal where you spilled a little bit too much salt on the vegetables or on the meat. And it doesn't taste—
[17:59] It doesn't sit well. Yeah. It just doesn't sit well. And I think that's a whole other piece, too, is, like, if the—and, I mean, this goes back to so many different scripture verses about the gospel falling on rocky ground and not taking root in people's hearts and all of those good things. But if we're almost too salty, too pushy, and the people just aren't ready to receive it, or you're trying to, like, use your own human words to convey a message and not relying on the Holy Spirit to really speak through you, depending on the situation and the moment in time, a lot of times that can come across as, like, the food being too salty and almost be a little bit revolting. Yeah, and also on the whole flip side of that, too, is when in the scripture of Matthew 5, it says, when you're not salty, it will lead to being trampled underfoot. So we've got a whole other opposite part of that is, like, you can't be too salty with what Ryan was saying, but also you don't want to be not salty because you're not going to bring life to the world.
[18:57] Simple as that. Like, you're not going to draw the essence out with other people, but, like, think about it going back to, like, salt being the most essential nutrient-dense things beside water. If you're not salty enough, like, you're just dead. Like, you're just dead inside. You're not bringing life to the world. It's an essential nutrient. It's essential for you to be salty. Yeah, it's essential for you to be salty in order to have life. Yeah. It's essential for you to be salty in order for your heart and your muscles to still work inside of your body. That's why dehydration is so dangerous because you're, like, sweating out all that salt or puking up all that salt. It's not necessarily that you're losing so much liquid as that you're not replenishing some of those essential nutrients and minerals.
[19:45] So, don't be the unsalty, bland, sad food is really the gist of what we're trying to say. And be the salt of the earth. Bring the earth alive. Salt is not evil from a health perspective or from a prayer bringing people to Jesus' perspective. So, like, going back to that thought of, like, flavoring the world, like, flavoring the world from within, bringing out the essence is how do we remain salty? Like, how did the disciples remain salty? They stayed close to the Lord. And how did they run their race well?
[20:28] They stayed close to the Lord. And so, like I said before, with the prayer life, like, that is the number one, like I said before, with the prayer life, like, that is the number one thing you have to start with. And we're going to have a podcast on that later about how our brain waves change in personal prayer. That's a little bit of a deeper dive. It's taken us a little longer to get ready for that one. Yeah, I mean, we want to be, like, really solid on the research, even though we know it and we're, you know, it's intuitive. We just want to make sure that we're presenting it right. But with being salty, and that's why we started with salt is because it's this idea. It's a really tangible idea of, like, how do I run the race well? How do I remember my death? How do I be a disciple is being salty, but how do I be salty? How do I continue to be salty?
[21:12] Because we don't want to lose our taste, like it says in Matthew 5, we want to run the race well. Staying close to the Lord, being in his word. So I'm not just saying, like, talking with God as a friend. That's number one, intimacy with him. Just really having intimacy with him as a friend, but also learning his voice. Listening, but also reading scripture. Literally reading scripture over and over and over. I think oftentimes when we read scripture, we're like, oh, I heard this before. But that's not how scripture is. There's so many layers to scripture. And it's going to hit you different every single time you read it. It's going to hit you different with the seasons of life that you're in, with the different situations that you encounter, but also the different senses of the word, which, you know, going into my theology degree, there's different, you know, allegorical sense, whatever.
[21:59] So historical. But really immersing yourself in the word and scripture, like, that's his literal voice. So continuing to go back to scripture will allow you to be salty. Because that fuels, that fuels everything for your day. It's going to, and we're going to talk about this in the next podcast about that, that, you know, renewing your mind in scripture. But also, like, going, but also it goes back to like, one of our pillars is discipline. Like, this whole podcast of health and the spirit, like, we talk about discipline. We talked about discipline with Xavier. We talked about discipline in multiple other podcasts is discipline to do the personal prayer, to listen to him. Yeah.
[22:42] To make it a priority. Yeah. And then also, too, like, frequenting, you know, the sacraments, frequenting church, frequenting your, like, community. Community is a big way to become. Yeah. To fill your cup. Not only fill your cup, but be called on. Yeah. Fill your cup up with community, with living with others in this lifestyle, to practice drawing out the essence within, but also allowing others to see you. Yeah, for sure. For who you are. And I mean, that's, that's very much great advice from a spiritual standpoint, but from a health standpoint on how he can be a little bit more salty, right? Swapping out those salts, not the Morton iodized salt.
[23:25] Literally, like, that's not even one where I would say finish it out and then throw it away. Or, and then just don't buy it. Just throw it away. Use it as a cleaner. Scrub some pots and pans with it. But go buy some Celtic sea salt, Redmond real salt, or. Baja Gold. Or Baja Gold. That would be easy swap there. And then just for a daily thing, instead of reaching for the Cokes and the Pops of the world and the Pepsis and the Mountain Dews and all those things, reach for some electrolytes. Some electrolyte powders, not Liquid I.V.. No shout outs on this, but that is a rough brand. Guys, come on. Everybody's like.
[24:05] It's all sugar. Everybody's like, I got my Liquid I.V.. Guys. It's all sugar. Cut it. Cut it out. It's about as useful as Morton iodized salt. So cut that out and get some real electrolytes. LMNT used to be my go-to, but they've had some weird legal stuff go on that they're maybe not telling all the ingredients as best they can. So Redmond Re-Lyte is one of my go-tos for people with really sensitive stomachs. If you remember, like MiO, there's like a MiO version of electrolytes called Buoy. I love it. Fantastic brand. Super easy. You like squirt a little bit in your water. And then the- I love it because it's tasteless. Like it's literally just a tiny little squirt of electrolytes and I carry it in my burr so I can put it in any drink. This is not an ad.
[24:52] The very last- I just love it. The very last thing, the other brand that I would recommend, so Redmond Re-Lyte, Buoy, and then the last one. And these guys are going to be linked in the show notes. It is a Catholic company that has electrolytes called Flight Foods. They've got a couple other supplements like creatine, but their electrolytes are phenomenal. I literally just placed an order. I was going to have one like sitting in my hand right here so you guys could see it, but they haven't arrived yet. So we had to record this podcast today. Otherwise, we would have waited till we received those. But Flight Foods has, I think it's Solomon Strawberry Electrolytes and Lauds Lemon. They both taste fantastic.
[25:35] They've got great ratios of things. Not a ton of BS ingredients. So that would be, from a health perspective, adding in some electrolytes. And then how do you know how much is too much? If you're an athlete, if you work out, if you are super active, if you are sweating all the time, if you are a construction worker, if you are doing some sort of manual labor job, probably every day. You could go with some electrolytes every single day. Also, if you're breastfeeding, if you're pregnant. Sorry. Ryan didn't know. Yeah. Swelling in your legs in pregnancy, a little bit of extra salt. And sometimes electrolytes looks like taking that pink Himalayan salt, that Redmond Real salt, that Baja Gold, and just sprinkling a little bit in a cup of water. Yeah.
[26:16] Literally in the cup of water I've got right here. Do like the little TikTok girl. ASMR. ASMR. I've got some salt floating around in here. Electrolytes. Electrolytes. Stop. Okay. People need to get on with their lives. Throw a pinch in there and that will help, especially during pregnancy when you've got some swelling in your legs, a little bit of electrolytes just helps pull that fluid back in. Yeah. And then when you put your salt in your water and you develop this habit, it reminds you like, oh, yeah, like as a Christian, I need to, you know, be salty. Like, how can I be salty today? Take that to your prayer. You know, like when you're putting in the morning, you're doing your electrolytes for the day, you can put it in your water and you can like kind of reflect on like, okay, how am I going to be the salt of the earth today? Like, how am I, how am I not going to be trampled underfoot?
[27:02] Well, just also too with electrolytes. I just want to finish the thought out. If you're not necessarily sweating a lot, you don't, you never step foot in the gym. First of all, start doing that. Go for walks, sweat a little bit, get moving, all that good stuff. But if you're never moving, you're an accountant or something sitting at a desk all day or like some IT guy sitting in a dark room playing on his computer. Oh my gosh. That's where maybe twice a week, some electrolytes would be good. But usually you're pretty okay just by putting a high quality salt on your food and salting it a little bit extra than you would. Yeah. Don't be like me that was picking it out and not even putting it in my food, which is crazy. Looking back, how much we put in our food and I, and to what I was going to say before is when I put electrolytes in my drink, when I start my day with electrolytes or consistently use electrolytes, I need coffee less. My energy is steady.
[27:59] So many people say that. Yes. Like I, when I have electrolytes, like I'm not crashing. I have sustained energy. I'm happier. I'm not crashing out. My mouth isn't dry. I feel all around just better. Your eyes aren't, like people's eyes aren't as something. Yes. I can tell under my eyes, like when my eyes look like, I'm like, what is going on? Like, why do I look off? It's because I have electrolytes. You're super dehydrated. And I just am dehydrated. So, and that's so funny too, because have you seen a meme going around? Like my husband, like I say, I have a headache and my husband's like, have you had water today? And I would say that like, if you have a headache, like that whole meme, I'm like, do you have a headache? Have you had your electrolytes today? Dude, if I have a headache, it's probably because I've had three cups of coffee and I have not had a single ounce of water.
[28:46] And then I will literally take a sip of water with some, I literally put some salt in my hand, lick it off, like I'm doing a tequila shot and then sip some water. And headache's gone in 20 minutes. Seriously. I mean, literally that's, it's incredible. It can be as simple as that. And like things, and that's what we want to give you guys. Like your health doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes we do have- More often than not, it's actually a really simple fix. Yeah. And let's start out with just adding good quality salt to your diet. Let's start out with adding electrolytes and then come to us and let's see, let's see how you've changed. And then too, on the spiritual side, reflect on like, how can I be salty? How can I live out this vert? Like, how can I run the race?
[29:28] Well, like I need salt to run the race. Well, so what does that look like for you in your life? Yeah. And not just how I can be salty, but how can I bring the salt of Christ, the flavor of Christ into other people's lives as well? And with that, Annie's got a meeting to go to, so I'll let Annie close us in prayer real quick. And before we even close in prayer though, please interact with our social media, at Health in the Spirit, on really just Facebook and Instagram right now. We are working on getting other social media platforms. But if you're listening to this, please go give us a follow there. We actually post clips. We don't have a YouTube channel yet because editing is hard. But we will eventually at some point post all these to YouTube. You can see clips of me and Annie and all of our guests talking on our Instagram and our Facebook, at Health in the Spirit. Also, you can comment there, DM there, interact with us there.

So with that being said, interact with our stuff. Do all the things. Like, subscribe, whatever. Annie, go ahead and close us out in prayer. Dear Lord, we thank you for today. We thank you for... Oh my gosh. Whoa, whoa. Take a... I just went ripping through that prayer. Back it up.
[31:00] Back it up, Terry. Jeez, that was like 100 miles an hour. I was ready. The Lord... I took my electrolytes before this. Hey, hey, hey. All right. I was ready. I didn't need coffee. All right. Close us in a real prayer. Dear Lord, come, Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus. Come, Lord Jesus. We thank you for this podcast. We thank you for this, the ability to even have the knowledge of what good salt is. And thank you for just opening our minds to this idea of running the race well, living salty. We want to do it all for you, Lord. And we just ask that any ways that we're not being salty, we just ask that you bring it to our minds right now and allow us to become the best versions of ourselves that you want
[31:46] us to be physically and spiritually. Lord, we give it all to you. Amen. Amen. Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Amen.
