What is Clydesdale Media Podcast?

We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.

Big announcement.

A member of the Clydesdale media team

qualified for Rogue.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we cover it all.

Midday motivation every time you press

call.

Lunch with the Clydesdale.

Cowboy, bring the heat.

Crossfit, move it.

Music on repeat.

High-fiber hustle, yeah,

we building that brand.

Grab a plate.

Tune in now, you part of the fam.

It's lunchtime!

Oh, man.

Pavarotti would be impressed.

So,

have you seen the movie O Sole Mio?

know what i know what it is but

no i haven't so it is um it's

kevin james yeah and it's it takes place

in italy um the premise is for his

wedding right correct yeah the premise is

they go to italy for their wedding the

his fiance stands him up and he is

left at the altar uh and then he

goes into an anxiety panic attack and

there it goes from there it's i wouldn't

say it's like a typical um kevin james

comedy type thing it's more of a rom-com

right but there's there's a scene in it

and this is why i'm bringing it up

is andre bucelli plays a big part in

this whole movie all right and there's a

scene where

To prove his love,

Kevin James gets up and sings a Buccelli

song in front of Buccelli.

As one does.

I did the same thing for Jennifer a

while back.

In front of Andre Buccelli?

Yeah.

Him standing right there beside you?

He lives down the street.

Oh.

Buccelli's Cajun?

All this time I thought he was Italian.

Yeah.

It's the same thing, dude.

We're a big melting pot down there.

That's all Italian, French-Canadian,

Cajun.

There's a bunch of it.

It's a bunch of Irish people, actually.

Well,

the point I was trying to get to

before you derailed the show for the eight

thousandth time.

You're welcome.

Is that the balls it had to take

even as an actor.

Oh, yeah.

To sing Buccelli in front of Buccelli.

Right.

And then I believe if I remember it

correctly,

Buccelli starts singing with him.

And the whole time he's accompanying him

on the piano.

It did.

Yeah.

No, thank you.

I don't like, let me, I say,

I don't like singing in front of people,

but I can't imagine singing a cover of

one of my favorite bands songs while

they're there.

Like that was, that would be,

you know what I mean?

Much less a world-class, uh,

I don't know, opera singer,

whatever you want to call him.

I would call him an opera singer.

Well, you know, tenor, whatever.

Yeah,

I don't know the opera technical terms.

Right.

I can't see doing that because,

like I said,

even as an actor doing that on camera,

knowing that it's for a bit in the

movie, how that would end up.

Like, I would be shitting my pants.

Yeah.

Because Kevin James is not known for his

tenor voice.

As it turns out.

As it turns out.

As it turns out, Kevin James,

mostly physical comedy,

not so much opera as it is.

Retired Steve says,

you would nail Eye of the Tiger.

Eye of the Tiger is not my thing.

I mean, I know it.

Obviously, not my thing.

That is a perfect example of a song

that when it first came out,

part of Rocky III.

I'm a major Rocky fan.

Love that song to death.

And then it got played every single day

of the eighties.

You know what's fun to do?

It's fun to do.

So when I bought my Jeep,

whoever had it before me,

because I bought it slightly used,

it's the sport model,

but they paid for the sub in the

back and like the extra speakers and shit

like that.

So like the sound system is outstanding in

it.

Every once in a while,

the street that the gym is on,

it's just one long straight shot from stop

sign to stop sign.

If you leave out the gym,

run to one stop sign and other stop

sign back to gym, it's a mile, right?

So every once in a while,

if I turn down the street going to

the gym and class is going on and

people are running down the street,

I'll put all four windows down and play

Eye of the Tiger as loud as I

possibly can while just creeping on by

them.

speaking of that too i i had just

gotten over like my overplayed survivor

eye of the tiger right and then i

went to film rudy berger doing the open

one ear and that was one of his

songs on his list for every workout i

love rudy i love that dude of course

it was of course it was

and and he they would like everything

about rudy's like online training was so

precision he has a crew that like do

set up camera work the whole bit and

he would the lineup was that i the

tiger had to hit it just the right

time of the workout in that moment where

he needed it the most and they knew

it was like what the six minute and

twenty three second mark

That's planning right there.

I don't give a damn what anybody tell

you.

That's planning.

And probably why he has four world

championships.

Well, if you've ever met Lynette,

and I mean, you and I have, obviously,

but if you've ever met his wife,

she leaves nothing to chance, dude.

Nothing.

That woman is a hell of a coach.

She is unbelievably prepared and knows him

down to the millisecond.

It's insane.

I love it.

I don't know what the two of them

do in their day jobs,

but I know it involves spreadsheets for

both of them,

and it is abundantly clear that they are

in the right profession.

Yeah, correct.

Because their workouts are done in

spreadsheet style.

Yeah, which is bananas crazy to me.

It is.

I'm so not even anti-spreadsheet,

but just not good at it.

It's not a thing I have to do

in my daily job.

My wife, God bless her.

She is a fantastic,

she loves spreadsheets.

She will make one quick, fast,

and in a hurry.

And matter of fact,

she's been taking care of my hours at

the gym,

like submitting my hours every month and

whatnot.

And every month she goes,

you need to learn how to do this

on your own.

And I'm like,

but you're so good at it.

Every plan I've ever had in a CrossFit

workout...

has the wheels have come off the bus

probably a minute in.

So me planning anything is worthless

because it's just a waste of time.

Because the minute I get into a workout,

it didn't go the way I thought it

was going to go.

No, I mean,

whichever way you want to look at it,

whether it's everybody's got a plan until

they get punched in the mouth or no

plan survives contact with the enemy,

that type of deal,

it's all true for the most part.

If you are a regular, average,

everyday athlete,

you go into the gym and you look

at something and you go, oh,

I'm going to do this, this, this,

and this until the third this hits and

then all of a sudden shit just gets

sideways.

jose ramirez says check out the excel i

i don't know if this was a typo

or meant to be excel word championships

it's a thing um or is it world

championships

Oh, Word.

Yeah, no, it's World.

I don't know if they're combining two of

the Microsoft's Excel and Word.

One competition.

Have you ever put anything from Excel into

Word or put anything from Word to Excel

and it just completely detonated your

computer,

lit it on fire and called the cops

and shit because it doesn't work.

There was a time in my life where

I worked as a statistician.

Trust me.

I have moved things from Access, Excel,

and Word back and forth between all of

this stuff.

Yeah.

No, thank you.

Our producer,

who was a no-show today and will be

demerited for such,

six consecutive weeks at number one on the

U.S.

Billboard charts, hot one hundred,

and was named the second best performing

single of nineteen eighty two in the

United States,

keeping it in heavy rotation across the

globe.

And look who showed up to get rid

of that demerit.

Right.

As soon as you say she's going to

get demerit, like, oh, holy shit,

let me clock in.

clock in.

Dude.

The minute we get a time clock,

it's time to shut it down.

A hundred percent.

Absolutely.

Absolutely.

When I was working construction,

I'm working for Gulf South Pylons.

This is freaking twenty years ago.

We go to the yard every now and

again to load up for another job or

whatever.

The yard guy in there, Pat,

we would mess with him sometimes because

he would wear

He'd have, like, camouflage pants on with,

you know,

like a football jersey or whatever else.

Like,

his hair was seventeen different

directions and whatnot.

And, you know, Pat, for real, like,

what happened to you, my brother?

And he said,

the day I got to come in here

looking good for you, MFers.

He said, the day I'm quitting this place.

That is a fair.

That's fair, my brother.

That is fair.

Trained with the punny humor,

how the pivot tables have turned.

I can't see the word pivot without knowing

that this... It's friends.

Little secret, little known fact.

When we do these shows and I shut

it all down and I walk away,

I can't remember a thing we talked about.

Oh, no.

God, no.

If it wasn't for Vicky making a thumbnail,

the times that she is not available to

do that,

I almost have to re-listen to the show

to then make the thumbnail because I can't

remember.

Now,

there are those epic moments where I

misspeak and that stays with me long after

the show is over.

I don't remember you ever saying anything

you weren't supposed to say.

It's kind of weird.

But for the most part,

we are so off the rails.

I have no idea what we've just talked

about.

Right.

oh yeah wow and it takes me back

to the time my wife booed survivors lead

guitarist off the stage

I'm just trying to picture it because

Julie's so nice.

Right?

And like the behind the scenes content

that like she just took it on herself

to film and whatnot.

And then the same person is like,

get off the stage.

You suck.

Her quote was, you're not Jimmy Page.

That's outstanding.

You guys aren't off the rails.

You just create your own rails.

That's a great way to put that.

That's fair.

That's fair.

That's fair.

You know what?

The fun part about that is I love

is that before we started Scott tech,

I got my notes together for the day

and I was like, Ooh,

we actually have stuff to talk about.

Cool.

Because I don't know if y'all figured it

out yesterday or not,

but we had absolutely no plan.

We were building the rails as we went.

Yeah, we had zero plans, zero direction,

none whatsoever.

It's kind of like the East-West Railroad

that everybody just kind of built it in

their own direction and hoped they met in

the middle.

Yeah, there was a whole lot of this.

I think it was an old Bugs Bunny

cartoon where they get to the middle and

they're like off by ten feet.

Like one's here and one's there.

Son of a bitch.

That's fantastic.

We ended on Crepe Nuts.

Hope to end better today.

We're going to do what we can, Mark.

Nothing sadder than a line of middle-aged

men in car hearts with igloo coolers lined

up at the time clock.

That was, that was when I was,

so in ninety-five, yeah,

summer of ninety-five,

I still had to punch a time cloud.

Working at McDermott Shipyard and we

punched in and punched out every single

day.

Like literally had to put all our time

chords on the wall.

Old school, baby.

Yeah, I'll never forget.

I went because I always had a time

clock until I worked for the state of

Ohio and the union somehow won a grievance

that made it so it wasn't so.

But before that,

I started with where you slid in the

card and it went right.

Yeah.

Then I got a job at this finance

company and, um,

and it was a plastic badge that you

just kind of swipe like a credit card.

Yeah.

And there was no,

there was no chung chung and I kind

of missed it there for a little while.

No,

the last couple jobs I had like in

the, uh,

in the plant when I was doing maintenance

stuff, that's what we had.

Just a little badge and you let you

in the gate and it took away all

your time and all the other good shit.

Well,

before we completely go off the rails,

there is a member of the Clydesdale crew

who qualified for the Rogue Invitational.

Was it Vicki?

We need to check.

I think she has the graphic so we

can double check if Vicki made it.

And there it is.

Rogue posted this today.

Wow,

that is not clear or my glasses need

cleaned.

On the male side, we have Fabian Hermans.

We have Nate Ackerman, Chris Ibarra,

and Bailey Martin.

None of those are Clydesdale crew.

As it turns out.

Bailey, give us a holler.

We'll put you on, my man.

And then female qualifiers are Emma Tall,

Jennifer Muir, and Carolyn Prevost.

Ironically, we're all at WFP last weekend.

Yeah.

How about that?

How about that?

Freaking Carolyn Prevost,

thirty six years old.

She's amazing.

They only take twenty.

They only take twenty.

And she qualified.

Killed it.

Killing the game.

She is like you said the other day,

aging like fine wine,

just getting better as she goes.

caroline took that one percent better

every day and ran with it yeah i

love you absolutely love it it's i this

season i mean she won the the thirty

five to thirty nine year old masters um

she's qualified for rogue she's killing

wfp winning events there um

It's like she has this rejuvenated

athletic career this year.

Is Carolyn Preville having the best year

ever?

For her?

I don't know because she's won, what,

twelve national championships in five

different sports?

That sounds right.

Sounds accurate.

This is just the CrossFit piece of it.

What about the other four sports?

Anna Anne fixing to launch her,

literally the stuff that people used to

launch themselves with, her Plyo program.

I mean, it's...

You can put the graphic down now, Vicki,

if you... There we go.

Yeah,

what a advertisement marketing piece for

Plyo by Prevo.

She had people at WFP after they saw

her combine wanting to get on board.

Oh,

my girl Hannah Horty is trying to give

her early access.

Right.

Hannah's like, no, no, no.

Hannah's like, no, no, no.

Let me beta test it.

Heel, yeah.

Heel, yeah.

That's the best pump-up vibe on this show.

If you get a heel, yeah, man,

you are.

You have an iPhone, more than likely.

I love this from Wayne.

Sorry, go ahead.

I love this from Wayne.

I'm sure they do,

but I hope her students understand and

appreciate what a badass she is and what

a role model.

So I've asked her this over and over

again.

Most of her students don't even know that

this is what she does in her spare

time.

Because she doesn't...

She doesn't broadcast.

She hasn't advertised.

Right.

She was so in her feelings about actually

taking off her shirt at WFP,

which she's never done before in

competition.

Um, like just that in and of itself.

And the reason she hasn't is because she

has all those kids that she teaches.

Right.

She doesn't want to put that out there

for them.

Um, uh, so I hope, I mean, because

If they look, they'll find it.

It's not hard to find, right?

It's on the internet.

All you gotta do is Google her.

I am certain you will get all of

those things.

But I hope they understand that, you know,

the kids that she's teaching,

they can see the value of hard work.

They can see, you know,

God, I hate to even say this,

hard work pays off.

Here's the other thing you have to

remember is that it was summer.

She just came back to class yesterday.

That was the first day of school for

her.

So she did all this stuff this summer

by winning the Masters Games, WFP,

qualifying for Oak,

all in the summertime when she doesn't

have students.

Right.

Right.

which is wild.

And yes, she is Benjamin Button, clearly.

So I am so proud of her.

Again,

I put out the reel this morning where

Tommy Marquez was telling me that she was

training the other athletes how to do both

the five-ten-five and the broad jump.

And he goes,

I can't believe she's giving them her

secrets.

And if you know Carolyn,

that's just who she is.

I mean, first of all, why not?

What's it going to hurt?

If they're going to jump further than her,

they're going to jump further than her.

It's her going, hey, look,

do it like this instead of like that.

If they have the capacity,

they're going to do it regardless.

And what's it going to hurt?

I never understood that.

That's one heel of a summer.

It is one heel of a summer.

Absolutely.

Now,

if you watch the whole reel at the

end, she goes,

I kind of knew I had a shot

at winning this thing.

If I didn't,

I probably wouldn't have helped them out.

Yeah.

Absolutely.

Dude, the coach in most athletes...

I know most of us can't help ourselves,

especially at a master's event.

We're in the back watching people getting

warmed up for a snatch, and I'm like,

hey, man, you're doing this.

You should be doing this.

Hey, man, you're doing this.

You should be doing that.

Unsolicited advice happens in more warm-up

areas than you would probably be aware of

from other competitors because

I would say it's probably more of a

master's community thing because I don't

want them to do badly.

Right.

I just want to do better than them.

So like,

I don't want them to hurt themselves.

I don't want any of that kind of

stuff.

So I want you at your best so

that when I beat you, it feels good.

So I don't know if you guys know

this story.

I think I told it on here one

other time.

When I asked Carolyn to come on the

show and start being a contributor to the

show, she said,

I'll do the open and then that's all

I can commit to because I'm pretty busy.

Yeah.

That was two and a half years ago.

She didn't say which open.

And she,

I don't think she's missed more than a

handful of shows in two and a half

years.

And it's always,

it's never been because like, Oh,

I'm too tired or whatever.

It's because like she was traveling

somewhere or she had something that was

actually going on.

How about being a coach who judges?

It's really hard sometimes not to say

something during an event.

Sten, I am totally with you.

I mean,

I coached from fifteen to nineteen,

and I was a judge during half of

that time,

and it's really hard because when you're

judging, it's not about...

how the move how the move looks it's

did they hit the standard that's it and

it is so hard to shut that other

piece off in your head when you're judging

because you're only supposed to hit did

they hit the standard they they may have

looked like they were going to break their

spine in the middle of this but it

doesn't matter it looked like ariel's

strict breath

No,

that's one of the reasons why I hate

judging.

I really don't like it.

I'll do it at our gym for the

open because it's during the open.

Like I want to, I want everybody to,

you know,

to do well so I can judge and

also say, Hey man, look, pick it up.

Like, let's go, you know, Hey,

don't do this.

Don't do this or whatever the case may

be.

But as for like an actual comp.

Yeah, actual quote from Andrew Sten.

Man, that was a terrible squat,

but they got below parallel.

Yeah,

their knees were touching when they went

down and then all the way back up.

However,

they managed to get below parallel and get

all the way back up,

so here we are.

I'm sure Birch feels the same way.

Yeah, so that's it.

Congratulations, Carolyn.

That's awesome.

I also wanted to bring something up.

So I got called out on Instagram by

another media member that I've never met

in my life.

I don't even know... That's bold.

Let's see if I can find their name

here.

It doesn't matter.

But anyway, it's...

I think their posts,

when you go look at them,

and their profile is in another language.

So I think they're European.

But the story they put up calling me

out, and others as well,

was in full English.

So they knew enough to call me out.

And what is this in reference to?

This was in reference to Astrid Tins.

Okay.

Your look was like my look, right?

Holy smoke.

Okay.

And they went down and showed all the,

like that she was in the final heat

of the WFP at times and that she

was the highest finishing qualifier behind

paid Rogers by one point.

And like on, and I trust me,

Astrid Stinn is Astrid.

Now I can't even think of her name.

Whatever.

She is on my radar.

She killed the first day of Waterpalooza.

I have watched her at WFP.

Yes,

she is someone to look for in the

future.

I didn't say anything about her on a

reel or a show.

And so I am awful because all we

ever talked about are the top five.

so astrid tin that's what it's astrid tin

not astrid eleven or after nine it's a

whole different it's a whole different

people dude no come on so like literally

three cells of a story calling out me

and other mainstream media which there

wasn't that much at wfp right right like

so it's pretty much me yeah so it's

mostly just scott

holy smokes,

you didn't talk about this girl.

No,

there's a whole bunch of them I actually

also didn't talk about.

How about that?

Like, what else do you want to do?

There's a bunch of dudes I also did

not talk about whose names I also cannot

pronounce.

So maybe not.

I don't even think I even focused on

any one particular person.

We did talk about Emma Tall,

but in all fairness,

we haven't seen Emma Tall because she

didn't do the game season.

Correct.

We didn't see Laura Horvat because she

didn't do the game season.

So those were people that I hadn't seen

all year.

Now I'm seeing them in person,

and then I'm like, okay, I get this.

I want to see them.

I want to talk about them.

But really our main focus was Carolyn

Prevo because she's part of the family and

any other media outlet that would have a

member of their crew out on the floor,

they would talk about that individual.

And then other than that,

we were really just trying to give an

overarching view of the competition as a

whole.

That would be like,

if that would be like, if, uh,

the mayhem podcast came out and somebody

fussed at him for talking about paige

rogers and only paige rogers you guys were

just talking about paige rogers the entire

time well yeah she goes here so yeah

probably so holy smokes i talked about ty

jenkins a lot and he didn't finish in

the top five you're a horrible person

scott

It was you pick out moment.

And to be fair to Astrid,

my apologies up front,

she did not have a moment.

Yeah, overall in the weekend,

did she finish top ten?

I don't even know at this point because

she never had that moment that you're

going, wow, I need to talk about that.

Right.

She didn't win an event.

Like Amanda Jobs, we talked about her.

She finished like forty eighth,

but she won the ten K.

Carolyn won the combine,

so she gets talked about.

Ty Jenkins won the swim.

He gets talked about.

They had their moments.

Pat Vellner freaking blew his Achilles.

And then dropped a pig on his foot.

So, yeah,

we're going to probably talk about that.

Quinn Robinson didn't finish the weekend,

but he ran a four, four, forty.

You're going to get talked about.

It's weird how that works.

Weird how that works.

All this means is you finally made it.

I like this one up here that Vicky

starred.

Tell that person to whack off.

Yeah.

Wax on and whack off.

The whole country of Denmark hates Scott.

That's the one I want to play.

Everybody in Denmark now hates Scott.

Your travel options just got limited.

Sorry.

Is that where she's from?

Denmark?

She's Denmarkian?

My apologies.

I didn't do all my research on Astrid

Tinn before the show.

It turns out.

I was happy that I knew that she

did really well at Waterpalooza on day

one.

Right.

Now that Vicky's clocked in,

she can probably find out where Astrid

Tinn is from.

You're asking people online to be mature

and reasonable.

Come on, man.

It's so silly, dude.

Again,

it's like if somebody's coming up and

you're like, well, I mean, whoever,

pick somebody who finished top whatever,

finished top twelve.

You didn't mention them all weekend.

Well, no, of course I didn't.

There are like five hundred heats of

athletes at WFP.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

There's people all over the place.

I mean, come on.

Whoops.

Damn it.

Sorry.

You're going to get another mean mention

now.

Good.

Hey, it just means they're listening.

It means that they're listening.

Yes.

Good.

So good.

I have moments you don't talk about me.

We talk about you all the time.

We just can't say it on air.

We try not to get demonetized.

That person must eat plain Cheerios.

Plain Cheerios.

Or unfrosted shredded wheat.

Unfrosted shredded wheat.

Mattress stuffing.

Oh, my word.

I can't even.

I can't even.

Great job, whatever your name is.

Good job, you.

Hey,

who was that that just took seventh in

that event?

I don't know.

It was a female.

Not real sure, to be honest with you.

Is her name thing out there on the

floor?

No.

All right,

then I have absolutely no idea who that

is.

I'm going to have to go look at

Competition Corner and then try to

backpedal and figure it out from there.

Come on, man.

Be ready to talk about all the athletes

when Copenhagen comes around.

Oh, I better talk about Astrid Tinn.

That's her home country.

That's why Scott can't go to Copenhagen.

They've revoked my visa.

They've revoked his visa.

His travel just got way limited.

And talk about going full circle.

I don't know if people know this.

That reminds me of the old Real Men

of Genius commercials.

Do you know who sang that commercial?

Yes, I do.

The lead singer of Survivor.

That is a full, full, full circle moment.

I love it.

I absolutely love it.

Real man of genius.

I actually bought the CD of that because

I thought they were so funny.

Yeah.

It had all the commercials.

Those are so good, dude.

Those are so good.

See, he accidentally fell into it.

yeah here's to you mister and just

whatever some random bullshit so good dude

oh commercial style would be like here's

to you mr chalks up for a echo

bike ride yeah so here's to you mr

calls out member of the media for not

pointing out someone finished in the top

twelve that's

congratulations so i would i would love to

ask anybody who watched wfp this weekend

how much they thought about astrid tin

during their viewing experience

I would love to ask him if they

know who she is.

Let's start there.

Let's start there.

Let's back up a little bit and like,

oh, did you watch WFP?

Yes, I did.

Cool.

Did you watch Astrid Ten?

And if they go, who's that?

Then you can just stop the conversation

right there.

How did Astrid Ten do?

Who?

And they can't be Brian Friend.

It can't be Brian Frank or Patrick Clark

or, yeah,

like none of those guys who actually was,

you know,

had been in it the entire time.

Yeah.

Tell me who Astrid,

does John Young know who Astrid Ten is?

Let's find out.

Let's find out.

I know she finished in the top fifty.

I know she was somewhere in the top

fifty.

She was in a heat.

retired steve i was there and thought wait

who yeah there you go thank you thank

you um she is tall i'm not even

sure she's tall i think she's just thin

that's entirely possible

So let me... Where is it?

So everybody saw...

the weekend review and like dave put john

young he spelled it like this right like

he spelled it completely just that's not

right that's not how you spell john

young's name when i went to legends the

first time in i had my washed up

my uh keep chasing shirt with when brian

when john had called brandon washed up and

so it says washed up and said john

young on the bottom of it

And I met a dude there.

I took a picture with him,

an Asian dude whose name is John Young.

And he thought that was the funniest thing

he had ever seen because he was like,

do you know me?

And I said, what are you talking about?

Because I had it on.

And he's like,

can I take a picture with you and

your shirt?

Because it says my name on the back

of it.

And I was like,

your name is John Young?

And he was like, yeah.

I was like, cool.

And so when I saw this,

that's the first thing that came to mind.

Sorry.

Did you see outside the box?

Nope.

Sure didn't.

I can promise you I did not see

that.

Well, they did a post.

They're going to have John Young on.

What?

And the picture is the Asian John Young.

And it's spelled the Asian way.

But then the caption is John Young,

one of the most recognized voices in the

space from Barbell Spin.

I was confused.

I thought they were messing with us.

You just confused me.

That's funny.

Maybe Vicky can find it real quick outside

the box office.

Is that the name of their show?

I don't.

Okay.

Sorry.

Was I speaking French?

You just assumed it in Denmarkian,

whatever they speak over there.

There it is outside the box.

That is John young.

And then if you can pull up the,

the caption,

can you blow that up a little bit?

That looks like if pool boy and John

young had a baby,

one of the most recognizable voices in the

CrossFit space joins us on outside the box

for a proper deep dive into his entry

in CrossFit.

And then it appeared even we're joined by

John young from barbell spin at the top,

bro.

I am confused.

Was it supposed to?

Yeah, I think Stan nailed it.

AI for the win.

That's got to be, dude.

But don't you double check?

No.

Of course not.

I did an AI when Vicky wasn't here.

I did one and I told it to

give me Pat Vellner.

And the picture that came up was not

Pat Vellner.

But it had a Pat Vellner CrossFit jersey

on.

And I was like,

could you give me the real Pat Vellner?

Yeah.

Could you give me the actual Pat Vellner?

Not whoever this dude is that sells

Toyotas in freaking Ontario.

That's not the right Pat Vellner.

Wow.

I'm telling you, that's like...

It has Joy Sears and it has...

I'm telling you,

that looks like if Pool Boy and John

Young had a baby,

that's what it would look like.

Holy smoke.

That is one hundred percent A.I.

Yeah, I don't know.

Anyway, T-Bird says,

I see Laura Post with Astrid Tinn a

lot.

Is Kristoff her coach or are her and

Laura good?

Again, T-Bird.

Like I noticed her at Waterpalooza.

I noticed her at this,

but there was no epic moment for me

to like share.

And that is the extent of what, again,

it's a hundred athletes.

Those two questions.

Those two questions right there is why

Scott can't go to Denmark anymore.

because nobody knows because he certainly

doesn't know oh my god the best was

the chinese graphics in the t-shirt yes

like just as much just right across the

chest oh and uh jy had hair in

that pic correct and no he's never been

that lean not in his whole life all

right judy what did that shirt say

She'll give me some sort of.

All I can think of is,

was it you that got the Chinese?

It's on my back.

You have no idea if it actually says

what you asked.

Nope.

I got that in nineteen ninety seven.

Yeah.

Could tell you if it's if it's accurate

or not.

They those graphics translate to General

Tso's chicken.

Hey, bro,

don't hate on General Tso's chicken.

I love me some General Tso's chicken.

Earlier,

someone said John Young sponsored by Panda

Express.

Absolutely.

A hundred percent.

That's my son's favorite food is the

orange chicken at Panda Express.

I already would tear that up.

I, I don't have, I,

here we go again.

I, I don't get the Panda Express thing.

I don't know.

I don't think it's good at all yet.

They are everywhere.

Yeah, no, I don't.

They're getting is as popular as

Starbucks.

And I don't go there either.

No,

I'm sure there's probably a Panda Express

across the street from a Panda Express,

just like there's a Starbucks across the

street from a Starbucks.

That was Chinese for I eat plain Cheerios.

I eat plain Cheerios.

It says, I'm not that John Young.

Right?

I ain't that John Young.

I'm a whole different John Young.

Ancient Chinese secrets.

Thanks.

Fine, Judy.

Don't tell us.

um yes megan is correct the best chinese

food are the ones that probably should not

be open that is if they got the

orange sticker on the door i'm in nothing

like a good uh kung pao chicken with

some salmonella on the side oh man i

love kung pao chicken brings out the

flavor just uh

You know what I also found?

This will probably get me canceled.

The best Chinese restaurants I've ever

been to have been filled with Mexican

people.

Yeah.

Oh, absolutely.

And the best Mexican restaurants are

filled with Asian people.

If INS,

which I guess they refer to as ICE

now, shows up to a, you know,

a Chinese restaurant,

like the kitchen staff is probably going

to,

like you probably got to hire your kitchen

staff, more than likely,

because there's all a bunch of Mexicans.

They make the best Chinese food.

Yeah.

Sorry, it's true.

I wasn't even talking about the kitchen

staff.

I was talking about the people eating.

That too.

Dude,

I haven't been to a good one in

quite some time.

But there used to be one,

or actually it's probably still in

Thibodeau,

called Lynn's that was phenomenal.

Absolutely phenomenal.

Judy asks,

have you all seen the mullet guy eating

all the Chinese buffets until he gets food

poisoning?

Yes.

Yes, I have.

Unfortunately, he goes up, dude.

He's got I don't know if he's got

meta glasses on or if he just got

his phone mounted because he goes up to

the buffet and like he reads whatever it's

supposed to be.

We are back to the buffet.

Yeah, he gets it,

puts it on his plate,

comes back down and like films himself

tasting it, trying it.

And you get out.

Oh,

I don't know if that's right type deal.

Fantastic, dude.

Fantastic.

This will probably get me canceled.

Proceeds to say it.

It's all right.

We already got canceled in Denmark.

It's just the first country.

I'm just checking off the countries one by

one around the world.

Starting off in Europe.

No big deal.

This show is really popular in Russia.

I don't know if y'all knew that or

not.

The bougies at the buffet.

Over there at the buffet.

Yes, indeed.

Meg says the best ones are where the

kids are running the register.

That's also correct.

Yeah.

The one in Thibodeau was like that.

Like,

twelve-year-olds are running the register.

I like this from Terry.

The best Chinese restaurant,

my Chinese daughter-in-law does all the

ordering in Mandarin.

Never know what we're getting,

but it's always good.

That's outstanding.

I would, I would one hundred percent,

I would go eat with Terry and her

Chinese daughter-in-law.

That's amazing.

I went to an authentic Chinese restaurant

here in Columbus.

were things on that table that i i

could not i don't ask questions i don't

ask questions don't care don't care i

can't tell you how much i love chinese

food dude and i don't eat it often

anymore um for obvious reasons because

like i would be nine hundred pounds if

i let myself do that but i really

love chinese food i just don't ask

questions like what is this

All right.

Yeah.

Bring me that.

And when it arrives at a table,

it looks nothing like what I expect it

to look like.

And I don't care because it's delicious.

Yeah.

I, I used to be that way.

Like I would try anything now.

I'm just Chinese food, Indian food,

big fan, Indian food.

I got two more items I got to

get to before we quit.

And one is,

can you pull up the Sporty Beth thing,

Doc?

no there's this thing there is so

apparently sporty beth suffered a spinal

cord cord injury get out did she really

yeah so there is her sister made a

post um that i sent to vicky and

um she had spinal surgery and they started

a gofundme account um you can go here

uh it is

ellie gregor uh to to read up on

it i'm not going to read it all

to you guys um it does not say

how she suffered it but you can see

the x-rays where they had to insert pins

and rods um but well that's terrible

But I know we make fun of her.

I know that she has been attacked in

this crazy way.

I would be the first one to say

I pick on her a whole lot,

but I don't want anybody,

don't see anybody have to deal with any

of that kind of stuff.

Yeah, I mean, she's a human being,

and I don't, this first and foremost,

and I actually,

before all of the stuff transpired,

she had a documentary and I had a

documentary both by the CrossFit

Yep.

Headquarters that came out one week apart.

And so I got to know her prior

to all this stuff.

Um,

and then we grew apart for a little

bit.

So, uh,

i but i still feel for her and

she has a two-year-old daughter like

that's got to be rough yep and uh

thoughts and prayers out to her and her

family and hope that everything goes okay

but they did start a gofundme account of

gofundme account if you feel the urge to

donate yeah uh the only thing that it

says in there shanna is that it's

somewhere in the neck and they actually

named the

the discs that were affected but they

don't say how it happened or anything like

that i am curious as far as that

part is concerned but that's just i like

how stuff works so there's that and the

last thing i wanted to talk about real

quick because i don't want to end on

a sad note is that my quarterback caleb

williams was on hot ones today oh

And it was amazing.

He made it through all ten.

And after doing them,

he was fine until Da Bomb at eight.

When I did it,

seven is what jacked me up.

And then Da Bomb added on top of

it, which was brutal.

But they asked him about the craziest

thing he did preparing to be a quarterback

in the NFL.

And he said that he, as a kid,

wanted to have the perfect arm motion.

So he practiced without actually throwing

a ball because he watched the Karate Kid

play.

And the whole wax on, wax off thing.

Oh, my Lord.

I figured that was going to be a

good idea.

And so he would do...

It worked for Daniel LaRusso.

He would, like, get into position, back,

and he would just do the positions.

Because it worked for Daniel LaRusso,

it had to work for him.

Clearly,

he won the All-Valley Chorotic Tournament.

Oh, my word.

Um...

The Bengals and the NFL in general have

been putting out a whole bunch of stuff

with Joey B. Apparently,

he's bought a telescope.

Did you see that?

I did.

they're like what kind of telescope he's

like i don't know when i see space

he's such he is such a dude like

i mean granted i got to watch him

you know at lsu do his thing over

here and whatnot and he was always kind

of a character a little bit um but

the more stuff that he that you know

they put out about him like he is

just such a it's just a weird lot

down to earth

into middle-aged men shit dude who also

happens to be one of the best quarterbacks

in the league it's insane dude avera i

know that you always disagree with me i

am not i am not a doctor i

have never pretended to be a doctor right

i don't know l from t from s

no and i think i was abundantly clear

that i did not know what her injury

was

I just know she had surgery.

She got some metal stuff in the spine.

Hope she's okay.

But anyway, yeah,

the Joe Burrow stuff is great.

And he is a legend here in Ohio.

He grew up in Ohio.

And then he went over to Cincinnati.

He was a river boy down there in

Athens.

So.

But the best part for me of the

Caleb interview was Sean says, hey,

I'm going to mention Hall of Fame

quarterbacks, or not Hall of Fame,

great quarterbacks.

Tell me the first thing that comes to

your mind.

And so he started with Randall Cunningham,

and he said, well, he's got a hose.

Like that man can,

like the throw I made against the Rams

last year,

he could go back twenty more yards and

still make the same throw.

that's fair and then they said uh tom

brady and he goes just killer like

mentally just a killer and uh aaron rogers

magician like and then he said well caleb

williams and he goes all of the above

hey god bless if you're a quarterback i

think you have to have that a little

bit out in you i think you really

really do um

know that a little bit of humble but

a little bit of yeah i'm about to

i'm about to pull i'm about to pick

y'all apart uh type deal speaking of joe

burrow just because you brought him up and

you always bring him up and you always

send me stuff about him and like i

think that you are in love with joe

burrow have you seen him he's a handsome

man so jamar chase is starting a podcast

with

can never get her name right but she's

like a famous influencer that does nfl

stuff where she plays like the different

teams she wears like shirts with their it

doesn't matter no clue they're starting

podcast together and the first guest is

going to be joe burrow

mean it's as best as bff so i

can understand that and so they are

promoting the hell out of it right now

like instagram is full of clips of jamar

and joe talking oh that must have been

the one i saw with it yeah because

he was he went joe went through joey

went through a whole play

that happened like last year sometime and

like he gave the entire like of

everything's like yeah i dropped back and

then i turned this way and then you

ran this way and then i kind of

turned my body a little bit to kind

of get it right where yep and like

just hearing him do that bro that

something he's got some tism but it's like

the good it's a it's one that's good

for football apparently tyson has that

in the press conferences after the

preseason game, he was like, oh yeah,

they were in this coverage,

and the safety pulled up by three yards,

so I knew that I had the shot

over the

I think that's a thing that the modern

quarterback has to have.

You have to see all that in a

split second.

But the fact that they retain it is

what blows my mind.

Because Drew Brees did the same thing.

I remember that he had a game where

he only threw six incompletions.

If you know how much the Saints threw

the ball while he was in there,

only having six incompletions in a game

was insane.

ridiculous right and he went through all

six of them in the press conference the

same way Joey B did did that and

was like yeah if I could have you

know this instead of that we probably

could have put it right there where he

could have caught it and whatnot it's like

that's wild dude

um she's hilarious check her out corey

yeah her name's like annie akars like

something like that we're not real good

with names around here we should probably

right and she's a fan so and she's

a packers fan so i don't really care

she is funny though like her stuff is

really really funny she takes like the

week that just happened in the nfl and

she puts on different t-shirts for every

team

Annie Agar.

And she acts like the executives or the

coach or whatever from those teams and

their response to the stupid thing they

did that weekend.

Got it.

Yeah, I like that.

Yeah,

I've seen the new quarterback on Netflix.

It was great.

While I was watching it,

the Jaden Daniels news came out about

suing LSU and all that.

So then I had a completely different

perspective of him the rest of the way

through.

But I love the Flacco stuff a lot.

I love the Baker Mayfield stuff a lot.

High fours, y'all.

uh favorite quote from mr t in the

not another teen movie uh believe in the

ball throw yourself believe in the ball

and throw yourself um oh mr t there's

a mr t documentary yep is it out

or is it fixing to be out

I think it's fixing to be out.

Not that I've ever said that in my

life.

You're welcome.

You're welcome.

I am one hundred percent watching that.

That's going to be good.

That's going to be good.

I did watch the I'll get the on

the untold with Reagan on Netflix the

other night.

How was that?

And underwhelming if I'm being completely

honest.

That's the thing with untold is either

it's great or it's meh.

And that one was mad because I was

waiting for because they hype you up,

right?

They pull you in with the various

allegations and whatnot.

And then you find out that none of

the allegations were true.

She just sucks.

Scott will be going to the buffet soon

enough.

I don't know.

Scott doesn't strike me as a buffet.

Well,

because I said I repeated your fix into.

Oh, yeah, absolutely.

I mean, come on, man.

Mr.

T had his own cereal in the eighties.

He did.

He did.

They were, they were little teas.

And he had a,

he also had a cartoon with him and

some kids that did gymnastics for some

reason.

I would never forget.

I will never understand what the

connection between Mr.

T and gymnastics was.

I don't think I've ever seen Mr.

T do a backflip.

Not once.

Nope.

Nope.

Never seen him do a cartwheel.

Not even a four-wheel.

No.

No.

I ain't seen him jump on up in

the rings and do some muscle-ups and an

iron cross.

Did Mr. T ever do an iron cross?

No, he didn't.

Why didn't Mr. T come up yesterday?

Because the cereal sucked.

Cereal sucked.

It was bad.

It wasn't good.

I had a box.

At least one.

That dude looked the same his entire life.

Look at that.

Gilbert Lang.

Mm-hmm.

B.A.

Baracus.

Two of the greatest characters ever in

Hollywood.

Pity the fool.

How about that wife of yours?

She's looking pretty.

oh maybe she want to come home with

me and be with a real man fantastic

dude netflix september eighth well i know

where corey will be oh i'm gonna i'm

you can bet i'm watching that you write

that you write in stone you can write

it wherever you need to you can bet

i am one hundred percent going to watch

that look at peter benoit and those upside

down setups were solid in rocky three he

is correct yeah

Peter Benoit is a great human being, FYI.

I sat in bullshit with him at Monster

Games for probably a solid hour after we

got done.

Avera wants to know,

is Kiffin a hero or a bust at

LSU?

I'll tell you Saturday night.

You're giving him one game as head coach

of LSU.

I'm not.

To make the determination, hero or bust?

I'm not.

You LSU fans are crazy.

But I know how the fan base is.

I know how the fan base is,

and if Clemson comes to town and we

don't beat the brakes off of them,

there are going to be people calling for

his head after the first game.

What do you think about Dabo Sweeney

staying in his lane?

Good.

Staying in his lane.

Staying in my lane.

In my lane.

In my lane.

Good, Dabo.

You do that.

out of their minds that's what i love

about sports man the pettiness the back

and forth

And so many people in the CrossFit space

take offense to that stuff.

Which makes no sense to me whatsoever.

If you ever want to be a real

sport, that is what it's about.

Like I said this over the weekend or

on Monday,

being with Jamie and fighting over all the

shit we saw at WFP made it more

fun.

It wasn't that we hated each other.

It's that we're debating everything.

And that's what makes it fun.

Yeah.

No,

I will not be at Tiger Stadium this

Saturday.

First of all, you couldn't pay me.

It's sold out.

And the stadium holds a hundred and like

eight thousand people and it's completely

sold out.

So first of all,

even if I wanted to go, I couldn't.

Secondly, no,

I'm not going to be there for Lane

Kiffin's first game against Clemson.

Like that's going to be an insane time.

They're going to be they're going to start

tailgating probably tomorrow.

Like the RVs and shit start getting there

and parking tomorrow afternoon.

They'll be greased up and lubed up from

tomorrow all the way through Saturday

until kickoff Saturday night.

No,

I don't want nothing to do with that.

I got a sixty five inch TV.

I can watch it on and go to

the bathroom whenever I feel like.

kiffin gets fired mid-season and ogeron

steps in as interim coach that's not gonna

happen uh wayne short one can only hope

joseph dude lane kiffin is so good for

sports yeah you may hate him to death

but good god he gives us something to

talk about that is not just well they

ran a post route here and like come

on pretty much

It's more down there.

It's more like which LSU cheerleader is

Lane going to try to nail this week?

Did you see that the Athletic concluded

their internal investigation into the

Diana Rossini-Mike Vrabel situation?

No, I did not.

And their finding was that while the

relationship did not meet the standards of

ethics that they hold true at the

Athletic,

they did not see any kind of preferential

treatment for Mike Vrabel or the New

England Patriots.

Okay.

That's the way of saying we don't want

to deal with this,

so we're not going to.

That's hilarious.

She gone, so we'll say, yeah,

it didn't meet our code of conduct,

but we by no means gave any preferential

treatment while she was here.

Sure you didn't.

uh no ken walters uh no not at

all mostly they're drinking beer and a

whole lot of it there'll be some people

drinking mixed drinks and um but no

hurricanes that's a whole thing in and of

itself

No, not at all.

Mark,

it actually won't be that bad because it's

a night game.

I looked at the temperature earlier.

If you're sitting in one part of this

section of the stadium where the sun is

still beating on you as it's going down

below the stadium,

those people are probably going to get it

pretty bad.

But it's actually been fairly decent once

the sun goes down here at night.

So it won't be as horrible as it

could be because it could be pretty bad.

And you got game day there this weekend.

And game day there, yes.

Which is, that's another reason to not go.

I do,

and I got to coach Saturday morning,

so I want to get it done and

get back so I can watch game day

because the signs behind game day are

going to be epic.

yes yes the the humor that that this

world has and can fit it on a

yeah poster board size sign is amazing and

you know it is going to be lane

kiffin left and right absolutely

absolutely they're gonna be it it's gonna

be so good dude it's gonna be so

good um and in there

Clemson's going to bring there.

Have you ever seen Clemson's mascot?

The tiger?

Yeah, their tiger.

The person that dresses up.

It looks sick.

I don't know.

Not like, oh man, that's sick.

I'm a Penn State fan.

Our lion is about the cheesy.

It looks like a guy in a onesie

with a lion head on it.

But yet, he is beloved at Penn State.

Oh, yeah.

So it just is.

The Buckeye at Ohio State is the dumbest

mascot ever,

and yet they sell Brutus the Buckeye shit

everywhere in this town.

I never understood.

There's several college mascots.

It's Where's Waldo with a nut on his

head.

Correct.

There's several college mascots I don't

understand.

My favorite one of all time,

UC Santa Cruz banana slugs.

Yep.

That is a thing.

And the first time I saw it,

I was like,

I need a UC Santa Cruz banana slug

t-shirt so bad it's not even funny.

Do you know what I do in a

onesie?

I drink thirdsy because I'm getting ready

for bed.

Y'all now know that Scott sleeps in a

onesie.

You're welcome.

Dude,

I got nine hours of sleep last night.

It was a beautiful thing.

It was nine hours of non-interrupted

sleep.

That's all because of third Z. Um,

You can get yours, Jazzy.

Check out, fifteen percent off.

Or go to thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy and

get that fifteen percent off.

New flavor is going to get to my

house next Tuesday.

Ooh.

So.

It's a surprise, folks.

I know it has something chocolate about

it.

Oh, well,

that's a pretty big indicator right there.

Yeah,

so it's not going to be like the

lemonade.

It's going to be back into that

winter-ish, fall-ish.

They're going seasonal, apparently.

Yeah.

Does your onesie have slippery feet?

Only my wife knows.

Can you buy adult pajamas with feet?

Because I would.

I absolutely, I say that.

I probably wouldn't because I'd have to

get, I sleep with no shoes on,

no socks.

I can't,

I can't have anything on my bed.

Pumpkin spice.

No, Megan, stop.

What's wrong with you?

Yuck.
