In Psalm 3, Pastor Fredo shares a heartfelt prayer of trust and deliverance. As David faces overwhelming adversity, he declares his confidence in God’s protection and salvation. Join Pastor Fredo as he reflects on the ways we can rely on God during times of trouble.
Through prayer, we’re reminded that no matter the challenges we face, God is our shield, our glory, and the lifter of our heads. Psalm 3 teaches us to place our trust in God, knowing He will deliver us from all our fears.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

For whatever reason, I have always struggled to pray. And so as this new year begins and as many of you think about new routines that you wanna give yourself to, especially for those of you who follow Jesus, I wanna invite you to learn to pray the Psalms with us. It's a practice I picked up years ago that really saved, my ability to learn to pray, to speak to God honestly about how I was feeling and what I was thinking. And so every single day on sandalschurch.tv on YouTube, we're gonna be releasing, praying the Psalms, a psalm a day. We started in January 1st and every day you're gonna get a new psalm, but the opportunity to read the psalm with us, to reflect on a phrase, and then to respond to God in prayer, how to pray through the psalms.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

This has been a gift to me in my own journey with Jesus. I pray that it's a gift to you and so would you join us. Grace and peace. As we continue praying the Psalms, today we're in Psalm chapter 3. David writes this starting in verse 1.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

Lord, how many are my foes? How many rise up against me? Many are saying of me, God will not deliver him, but you, Lord, are a shield around me. My glory, the one who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord and he answers me from his holy mountain.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

I lie down and sleep. I wake again because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. Arise, Lord. Deliver me, my God.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

Strike all my enemies on the jaw. Very specific, the jaw. Break the teeth of the wicked. Verse 8, from the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

David immediately makes it clear that he has many troubles facing him today. In fact, between the first two verses, that word is repeated three times. How many are my foes? Many rise up against me. Many are saying and I can't imagine, for our reflection now, that you might find yourself in a similar situation, maybe not surrounded by enemies, but certainly surrounded by troubles, by worries, by the things that are facing you today.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

And I love David's confidence. Verse 3, but you, Lord, are a shield around me. Now in that time, it would have been common for a shield to be in front of us. You can kind of, you know, envision a soldier, someone who's got a helmet, swords, boots on, the whole gamut. Right?

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

But a shield is something just in front of you. But notice David's picture, he says, you are a shield all around me. So there's protection, not just from the troubles facing him, but the troubles that he can't see.
