Andrew:

Welcome back to another episode of the Maverick Magazine talking about all things Maverick Athletics. I am your host, Andrew, and I am once again joined by my lovely cohost.

Marcus:

Marcus. And Alex.

Andrew:

So... Well, I could say, I mean, it was a great weekend due to weather and solid Maverick athletics. I mean, I... We got August weather in October, which I'm never gonna complain about, but good weekend for the Maverick's. They got a good weekend coming forward in regards to all of the FLX.

Andrew:

Not a lot of home games to necessarily talk about, but we still got a lot to talk about. It was a fun weekend to say the least, boys, wouldn't you say?

Alex:

Yeah. It was a good weekend. All all the teams were in action pretty much. It was fun to be around being at hockey.

Andrew:

It was a lot of Yeah.

Alex:

Football was out on the road.

Andrew:

Still a w. Still a w. But... Yeah. Yeah.

Andrew:

So we'll get into all of that after the, I mean, great weekend that Maverick Athletics had. We'll start out again with football who continues to just... You know what? The Maverick freight trains going through. They are just...

Andrew:

You know what? The NSIC can't stop them right now. Knock on wood. But still, they have been dominant fifth ranked team in the nation for a reason. Seven and o now, six and o in the NSIC after the thirty four sixteen win at Winona State on Winona's homecoming.

Alex:

Yeah. Winona, they always show up when the Maverick are on the schedule. Think especially with their homecoming, they definitely played a strong first half especially, but as is kind of the theme with this season, as the game goes on, we just wear teams down as we're constantly subbing in and out. We don't have the same

Andrew:

So do

Alex:

11 players out on the field every play. It's switching up all the time.

Marcus:

And remind me, it was it was, like, ten ten at half.

Andrew:

Right? Was ten ten at tied? It was tied at halftime. Maverick's outscored Winona in the second half 24 to six. Proves Alex's point of just wearing down teams.

Andrew:

And after a while, it's... You can compete with them for only so long. And then once once... I mean, the legs get tired, you can just see it just the fatigue starts to set in for the other team. So...

Andrew:

And that's partially due to how well the Mavericks are and how deep the Mavericks are. I mean, this football team's probably the deepest I've seen them since, and I don't wanna get any facetious or get, like, say, this is gonna happen or anything. But, I mean, this is probably the deepest team since the natty run-in twenty nineteen where they ended up losing to West Florida in that game, but, I mean, that's how deep this team is.

Alex:

I would agree. I think... I mean, you go look at the stat sheets even season long or just every week, and there's not really usually one guy that's above and beyond in terms of on offense or on defense.

Andrew:

I think we've talked about it every week. Like, it almost happens to be where it's every... A different player we're talking about every week.

Alex:

Pretty much.

Andrew:

Like, it's never just one player over and over and over again. It's someone new stepping up. Like, when someone's having a bad game, someone else steps up, which, again, proves to how good this team can just maintain form and maintain the standard. And, obviously, they've done that. They have yet to let a team score more than 20 points on them this season.

Andrew:

I think that says a lot. I believe the Mavericks are top five in bull... In rushing defense, if not the top rushing defense in the country. That really says it all right there, to be honest. Like, it...

Andrew:

They don't give the other teams much wiggle room in any way shape or shape or form, or I guess, to say the least.

Marcus:

So Right. And I think I think too with this team as we kinda briefly talked about it with the backups, like... And I'll say backups in quotation marks because it's like like you said, like, these guys come in... Like, they get interchanged a lot, which I think is good for the team, obviously, because then it provides fresh legs out there. And as we as Renson.

Marcus:

Andrew, as you said too, one of the key things about this team is that they slowly just wear you down throughout the game. And when you've got guys that could really start for a lot of other programs, but they chose to come here, it makes that job a whole lot easier.

Andrew:

It speaks to the culture of the program. Right. So, I mean, they look to just continue to keep rolling through their schedule. They actually have a bye week. I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, Buzz.

Andrew:

I believe most teams in the NSIC have a bye week for footballs. And of

Alex:

all I believe all NSIC teams are off

Andrew:

the same. So this is the one buy for the NSIC. So, again, players all get some time to rest and recover. Obviously, all these games are tolling on the body no matter what. So it's it's good rest and recovery week.

Andrew:

Shouldn't we, definitely should mention before we move on, Sam Bakker, what a game from him. What a game against Winona. Just... You know, I've almost kinda... He's always been his solid self in every single game.

Andrew:

He always looks really good, but I was kind of waiting for this year to have... For him to have one of his breakout games where he runs for almost 200 yards and gets a few touchdowns. In Winona, he just was like, you ain't tackling me. And once they see his back, you ain't gonna catch him. You're not gonna catch him.

Andrew:

So what a game from him. Overall, football has had a great start to their season. They're looking to... I don't know when the first regional rankings will come out. They'll be near the top of the...

Andrew:

What is it called now? Because that... I'm so used to what it used to be where it was, like, Central region where is the, like, so many regions. Now it's just the four super regions. Is this the I think it's Midwest.

Alex:

I think it's Midwest or it might still just be

Andrew:

Central. I don't know what it's called.

Marcus:

I think it's I think it's Midwest.

Andrew:

It's with all of the change, I can never keep up with it. I try to and then it's like the NCAA changes something on me every week. So, no, it's all good. In regards to that, they... We do got a home game next weekend up and coming.

Andrew:

That'll be against Wayne State. Tough game incoming. Wayne always plays us hard. Wayne actually beat us last year at their at their stadium.

Alex:

Yeah. It'll be family weekend that weekend. We're expecting a big crowd. I've already heard some of the presale tickets, how many they're expecting.

Andrew:

Good.

Alex:

So... And Wayne always travels well, so I wanna pack the Blake.

Andrew:

It's the... We've already done it a few times this year. Let's keep packing that stadium. I mean, it's been unreal how that building's been jumping for the players. Obviously, they've mentioned how it creates a better environment for them as well.

Andrew:

So keep showing up to those games. Again, that next game will be Wayne against Wayne State at the Blake, Saturday, October 25 at 1PM. Moving on, we got a few things to talk about soccer. Soccer had quite the fun weekend in general, Alex.

Alex:

Yeah. They're coming off... This was a big bounce back weekend for the team. They're coming off their first loss this season two weekends ago, and they really... You could tell out there, especially on Friday when they're home, that they took that personally and they came back with a purpose to try and score goals and win games in a big way, and they sure did that this weekend.

Andrew:

Yeah. I mean, two four nothing wins. I think that says a lot about, you know, we're frustrated. The UMD game wasn't us. This is the team we are.

Alex:

Yeah. And CSP specifically is a really good team. They were five one and five

Andrew:

coming They were they were

Alex:

Their goaltender has been very good for the last couple years. Every time we run into them, it's a... It's usually a one nothing, two one, zero zero game. So being able to find the back of the net four times was was big for us.

Andrew:

I mean, it was impressive because that goalie, you aforementioned. I remember play... I believe we... It was CSP last year in the NSIC tournament, and that was a game. It was an extra time when it was won.

Andrew:

I mean, it was that deadlock to get the w today to... In the... Not today. I should say this weekend, but in the big way that they did showed that what happened last weekend was not them for for a lack of better way to describe it. So

Alex:

Yeah. They came back and the offense was just full force. They were just gunning down the field, shooting shots on the net, and Maddox Archer herself had a great weekend. She scored three goals over the weekend. She's really been heating up these last couple weeks.

Alex:

I believe she scored in five out of the last six games with six goals in that span. Wow. So she's... Her and Amar specifically have definitely been the offensive firepower for this team.

Andrew:

Don't let the Mavs get hot. Don't let the offense get hot. Oh, there we go. That's phenomenal to hear. Again, women's soccer now moves to eleven one and one, eight one and one.

Andrew:

I don't believe there's any team that's besides Northern that is keeping up with the Mavs within the NSIC conference so far.

Alex:

So, you, Mary, is actually in second right now. They're

Andrew:

in second. Okay. So.

Alex:

So, it's definitely still tight. We got a little bit of a of a gap, but dropping a game in NSIC play at this point would

Andrew:

It'd be it'd be crucial for them to

Alex:

crucial.

Andrew:

Yep. I get what you're saying. But, no, that's good. Maverick's again finally have been waiting for a few weekends. We've had a few weekends where the nets bulls, they were waiting for it really to bulge this weekend.

Andrew:

It did. So congrats to the Mavs. Great games from Maddox and Amara like you were saying, Alex. Maverick's now also should be mentioned our third in MPI rankings.

Alex:

Yeah. So this year, they've transitioned to more of a formula for rankings and determining seeding when it comes to postseason. MPI is the NCAA power index, and that is based off your opponent's record and your strength is stuff like that. So the Maverick sit third. They're comfortably first in the Central Region.

Alex:

I believe the next best team is in fourteenth. So they're looking good to host that central region tournament. So

Andrew:

should also be aforementioned with the great play of all of our offense this weekend. Lauren McAlpine, another great weekend for one of the best goalies, not only in the NSIC, but in the country. Two shutouts and was named the NSIC goaltender of the week.

Alex:

Yeah. Like we mentioned earlier, just that game against Duluth was not this team, and that that was not Lauren and net. I I don't know what was going on that day, but she came back and did what she's been doing all year long, all of last year, basically ever since she's been here, and that's just Shut the in that back and just not allowing anything through. She made 12 saves on the weekend. Like you said, her second time this season being NSE goaltender of the week.

Alex:

Mhmm. And now she's second in the country in shutouts. There you go.

Andrew:

And, I mean, like you said, 12 saves in a weekend. I mean, you can get some shutouts where, I mean, your defense does the job for you almost in a way. And I don't wanna say it like that. I mean, you still... Every player still has to play their part and do really good, but you can get some games where you get some lower shave shutouts.

Andrew:

12 saves over a weekend. That's not something to be frowned upon. That's a decent amount of saves over two games. So rightfully so, she earned goaltender of the week because of that.

Alex:

Yeah. She's, like you said, you can have low shots and have some shutouts. She's had a couple year... Games this year where she's had one or two saves and got the shutout. And it work looks the same on the scoreboard, but she definitely really played well this weekend.

Alex:

She made a couple big diving saves, especially against Winona late in that game just to preserve the shutout. Mhmm. There you go.

Andrew:

And Maverick's woman's soccer look to continue on their solid season. Again, they have two home games. One of the few teams that it's home this upcoming weekend. They get MSU Maverick on Friday, October 16. That'll be at 3PM at the pitch, and then they will play Minnesota Crookston on Sunday, October 18 at 1PM.

Andrew:

That'll also be at the pitch, with them being one of the only home teams this coming weekend for the Maverick's. Get out and support our Maverick says they've got some big NSIC games, and they're looking to continue on the dominant season that they've had so far this year. Moving on, we got women's volleyball who had a solid trip up north to Northern Minnesota this past weekend. Marcus, you wanna talk about that solid trip up north?

Marcus:

Yeah. So the woman got started, on a really big w, and I think just for momentum momentum wise, beating number 14 Minnesota Duluth at their place. When I was watching the stream, there looked to be a lot of people in the stands, and so it was good to upset them at their place.

Andrew:

Makes it a little

Marcus:

makes it a little bit sweeter. Some names to shout out, Avery Klein. That match had 13 kills specifically. Olivia Sturgis had, I think it was nine kills in that match too, but also had six blocks.

Andrew:

Wow. Which

Marcus:

was, which was huge for them. Whenever plays were getting getting long or rallies were getting long, she, a few times would shut it down with, a big block. So that was big. But it was cool just to finally get one, and we've talked on this podcast so many times of them always playing, like, really tough of... Really tough opponents.

Andrew:

They're just... They were right there and a lot of them right there, and I must have just felt so good to get that one over, UMD. And it's always good to be a rival like UMD as well. So an in state rival getting a road win, a road ranked win just feels that extra bit sweeter.

Marcus:

And to make it... I believe it was Duluth's first conference loss of the season, and I believe their second overall this year. So, like, this was a this was a huge win. Yeah. Yep.

Marcus:

So it was good. It was good to see like everything clicking and I was talking with coach Megan and she was saying that we've... They were saying like we as coaches have seen this all throughout practice and things but it's nice for a lot of other people to see it now actually, in a game. So There you go. Is good.

Marcus:

So that was against, number 14 Duluth, and then the next day, they went to Bemidji and faced Bemidji State. Unfortunately, they they were beaten in straight sets in that match. They lost the first one, I believe, by five, but then the second and third sets, they lost 27, 25, and then a 30, 28 loss. So Jeez. They were hanging close right there.

Andrew:

I mean, goodness gracious.

Marcus:

They were hanging with them, going blow for blow each time and, just unfortunately couldn't get over the hump, but, I thought it was a great weekend overall for the women. And I thought for a for a second that Avery Klein was gonna get NSIC player of the week, but I think I think if we would have beaten Bemidji, I think she would have she would have gotten it.

Andrew:

So That makes... I mean, gosh. It would've been nice to get that for that just full sweep of that... Those road wins Yeah. For that.

Andrew:

Right. They still played phenomenal in both games, so I wanna congratulate them on that. That was a really good weekend that the girls had against two solid teams, especially one being ranked number fourteenth in the nation. Right. So congratulations to them.

Andrew:

Hopefully, can keep it going as they've got some more road games up and coming this coming weekend. They get to Yeah. Kind of do the Dakota trip now, honestly, in a way to describe it. So they got the Northern Minnesota trip. Now they get the Dakota trip.

Andrew:

So they will be going to Jamestown Friday, October 16 at 6PM, and then they will be followed heading to Northern State the next day and playing them on Saturday, October 17 at 2PM. So it should be two fun games upcoming this weekend. Two big conference games to say the least.

Marcus:

Yeah. Two two big... Like you said, two big conference games. Jamestown, Northern State rank, I believe, fourth and fifth in the NSIC. So good competition for them and good...

Marcus:

It's a good way to move up in the standings.

Alex:

There you go.

Marcus:

If they can beat these two teams. So

Andrew:

Moving on, we got men's and women's cross country to talk about. They competed finally again, as they were in the NCAA prenats down in Kansas. That was on October 11. The men had a twelfth place finish for their showing there. So, I mean, solid showing.

Andrew:

Luis Fister had the best performance for them. He finished twenty seventh overall for the men. So solid performance from him again. Again, he's the two time NSIC, cross country runner of the week. Just didn't win it this week, but still solid performance from the men.

Andrew:

The women, they did a tiny bit better in placements. They placed ninth overall at that competition, so congrats to them. And Sophie Bakker had the best finish for, our women's team as she finished ninth overall. So really good. Another good performance from her.

Andrew:

Just solid performances all around for our men's and women's cross country teams as they will then now get ready for their, the Winona State Invitational. That'll be on October 23. I don't believe. I... No.

Andrew:

Actually, I think there is a time already set for that. I believe it's 1PM. Is anyone... I I think... Let me...

Andrew:

Hold up. Got it. I'm on top of it. Guys, I'm on top of it today. There we go.

Andrew:

So... But, yeah, 1PM for that. So that's the... We look forward to having them. Oh, sorry.

Andrew:

It's men's 1PM, women's 2PM. Staggered. I should know that. But, yeah, so they look forward to hopefully continue playing well that they've done in the past few invitations they've had.

Alex:

Yeah. Just touching on the pre nationals a little bit in Kansas at Rimrock Farm. This is actually where the national championships will be taking place. Oh. So it was a great opportunity to go out there, get some practice as they look to build the season.

Alex:

They've definitely faced their tempest... Toughest competition this weekend at weekend. Yep. On the season. But they had a solid showing, and it was good practice for hopefully making a good run-in those NCAA championships.

Andrew:

Good little tidbit there from Alex right there. I like that. That's good. So hopefully, they continue and get ready for having a great season that they're gonna have. Moving on, tennis finished up their last scrimmage for this fall season, I should say, at least.

Andrew:

They scrimmaged against Bemidji State, and that was at Saint Cloud Tech High School this past weekend. So they competed against them, had a solid showing from what I heard at that. So congratulations to them. And, we won't be talking about them a ton for a while now as they do not have a another match until an exhibition against the University of South Dakota on January 16. So we wish them luck in getting ready for once they have their spring kind of...

Andrew:

I guess I'll say winter springs, their season start in regards to that. So good luck to them. Hopefully, they'll have a really good season once they get to their matches coming in January, February, and later on. Moving on, we got golf to talk about as the men competed in the Newman fall invitational and the women competed in the UNK central regional preview. We'll start out with the men.

Andrew:

The men, again, at Newman fall... Newman fall invitational. They've had not their best showing, but they've still been doing... They're still doing solid. They're right now tied for fourteenth.

Andrew:

As, again, that is not fully completed. Should be aforementioned. Carson Patton today is tied for fifteenth overall, moved up 13 places today as he had a current... As he had a round of minus three. He was three under.

Andrew:

Guys, I wish I could shoot three under.

Alex:

Don't we all? Don't we all?

Andrew:

Like, what a round from Carson. So, again, he's looking to build on that. So a really good round from him. The boys, again, obviously, are gonna look to do much better in their Washburn invite. That'll be next week.

Andrew:

Next... Actually, that'll be next Monday and Tuesday, October nineteenth and twentieth. But overall, salt... Still solid from them. Solid season that they've been having.

Andrew:

The women competed in the UNK Central Regional Preview. They're tied, I believe, at the time they are actually not tied anymore. They are just ninth at the moment. Yep. They are ninth.

Andrew:

Oh, no. They moved up. They're tied for eighth now. There we go. So solid round from them still.

Andrew:

Emerson Garley right now is six overall at that through three rounds. She's only five over through three rounds. She's shooting even right now today. So could get even better. Could get even better.

Andrew:

Knock on wood.

Marcus:

I could play like that.

Andrew:

It's impressive to how good a lot of our golfers have been. Their next woman, they'll be actually off this upcoming week. They'll... Next performance will... Or invitational, I should say, will be the Tulsa Cup on October twenty sixth and twenty seventh.

Andrew:

So... But solid from our men's and women's golf teams. Moving on, we got some of our winter sports to talk about as men's hockey had their first weekend on a team that looked familiar to them as obviously Mike Hastings returned and is the former coach here. But fortunately, Maverick lost both games this past weekend.

Alex:

Yeah. You could definitely tell that this is the reigning runner-up. So the country, the badgers Yep. They were smooth. They were working together.

Alex:

They were connecting on almost every pass.

Andrew:

And you can tell that that team played last weekend and played college competition last weekend.

Alex:

You could tell that they definitely had their skates under them already, and I wasn't here too much when Hastings was around. But from what I've heard, that that was the most authentic Hastings game

Andrew:

that nothing game. I I have watched... Been watching this team since I would've would've been following it since about, like, 2012. So right around when Hastings first was getting here. That game could not have been more of a Mike Hastings game and being on the other side of it, I can see why it's so frustrating to other fans.

Andrew:

Like, I can see a lot... Like, I mean, that was impressive from Wisconsin. Again, the boys are gonna look to bounce back. That... I saw something that was really great that I wanna mention because I know some people were frustrated with how the weekend went, but you don't win the national championship off two games.

Andrew:

So it it... They'll bounce back. I'm not even worried in any way, shape, or form. They'll still be solid, and they'll look to bounce back at Mary Mac this upcoming weekend. So

Marcus:

And it's only two games at the beginning of the season too. Like, it's not like we're middle of the season, then you can kinda look at the team and say, okay. Where are we at compared to, you know, the reigning national

Andrew:

Runner-up.

Marcus:

National runner-up.

Andrew:

Yep. I mean... And I think my... I think I said this perfectly. I was talking to one of my buddies, and I said it...

Andrew:

I just said, that team is a great team. That Wisconsin team is gonna go and have another phenomenal year. So... And it's better to... If you have a bad game and you lose it or if you have two bad games or something, whatever you wanna call it, it's better to do it in the first weekend of the year than once it's in playoffs.

Andrew:

There's a lot of a difference in regards to that. So I thought they were solid, especially the second night. Alex, I know you and I were talking about it. That was much more like the boys that second night in that loss to Wisconsin.

Alex:

Yeah. That four one score does

Andrew:

not anticipate the game. No.

Alex:

That explains how the game went. This was a back and forth competitive game. The badgers just were able to finish chances off at a higher rate. That's as simple as it was really. But this was a back and forth game.

Alex:

Both teams would play hard, especially in that first period. The Maverick's really dominated that period. Yes. Found themselves down one after the period, but It sucked be down one. And they they had mostly offensive pressure.

Alex:

So this team definitely bounced back after quite a lackluster performance, I would say, in opening night.

Andrew:

Well... And this is the thing too with that team. That team's young.

Alex:

Very young.

Andrew:

Very young. So I was impressed with the bounce back at least because some teams, I mean, some teams... And I'm not gonna name names or anything, but, like, some teams will kind of see that... Have that first performance, and then they'll just kinda be like, oh, well, we're just gonna get swept this weekend. Boys did not do that.

Andrew:

I mean, obviously, they did get swept, but they fought hard in that second game. I mean, that was, you could tell that was a whole different team in that second game.

Alex:

Yeah. We were kinda talking about... I know all three of us were there throughout the weekend. We were kinda talking about that. We were waiting for the first time to hear Ole Ole.

Andrew:

And let me tell you So nice to

Alex:

hear it.

Andrew:

It was electric. It was

Alex:

a weird goal. I know Marcus was definitely caught off guard by that goal.

Marcus:

But Yep. I was I was calling stats for Alex, and all of a sudden, I'm like, nope. Shot wide. And then I'm like, nope.

Alex:

Nope. There I

Andrew:

know some people... I've seen some people talk about how they they hate the mayo and the bouncy boards. That was a moment where I'm like, I I like those bouncy boards.

Alex:

Yeah. There was a couple times where that puck bounced off those boards hard all weekend.

Andrew:

But You can tell it was the first weekend for that building as well with how bouncy everything was. But Yeah.

Alex:

But it was good to see us get a at least one goal on the weekend. Sam Court scoring his first as a Maverick. Shooting one from the blue line off the end boards. Yep. Deflects back, hits the goalie skate, and goes right into his own net.

Marcus:

I saw that. Just electric. Hey.

Alex:

Unconventional, but it was good to at least see one going to the back of the net this last one.

Andrew:

Agreed. So Maverick's will look to bounce back here. They've got the University of Merrimack this upcoming weekend. They've... Will be at Merrimack for both games.

Andrew:

That'll be Friday, October 16 at 6PM, and then Saturday, October 17 at 5PM. Moving on, we got some things to talk about for women's hockey. They didn't play this weekend, Alex, but there's still a few things to talk about in regards to that.

Alex:

Yeah. They had an off week this week. Just a a week to regroup after starting off o and two in the WCHA, but it really doesn't get any easier going into this weekend. They will be traveling to Madison to face the two time reigning national champions.

Andrew:

Even tougher. Even tougher. Tougher.

Alex:

Kidding. And Wisconsin is coming off being swept by Ohio State who it was number two at the time are now number one. They just flip flopped in

Andrew:

the rankings. Catch them at a good time.

Alex:

But I think they'll be definitely coming back, seeing us on the schedule, and wanting to bounce back. But I think it's a great opportunity for us to have a good showing and make them work hard for it. Maybe steal one somehow.

Andrew:

I would love that. That sounds... I I like that plan.

Alex:

You know? We're we're on a 25 game losing streak in the series, so it'd be pretty

Andrew:

say that. I'm

Alex:

It'd be pretty electric to see us get one back. I think I think the ladies definitely had a good couple weeks of practice, and they're looking to get off to a stronger start in WCA.

Andrew:

Some wins against the reigning, two time national championship... Champions, I should say. So they look to do that. Again, those two games will be Friday, October 16, 7PM, and then Saturday, October 17, 2PM, both in Wisconsin. Alex, it should be also aforementioned fun little tidbit for the Mavericks with the PWHL as they had 12 former Mavericks invited to that.

Andrew:

So

Alex:

Yeah. It's pretty cool to see some Mavericks going on to play professional hockey. You know, we know a couple of them, Sydney Langseth, Claire Buterack. Believe

Andrew:

right. This. Yeah. That's right.

Alex:

Couple of legendary Mavericks who have been in the PWHL for the last few years making an impact.

Andrew:

So

Alex:

But we have a couple new ones this year, Taylor Ortrembo, who was the captain last year. Trembo. With Ottawa during training camp.

Andrew:

Okay.

Alex:

And then Kiana Roski, who was the alternate captain Yes. Will also be in a PWHL camp. I can't remember which one that is off the top of my head.

Andrew:

That's okay. I mean, hey. That's impressive to have 12 and to have that many and to have two girls from last year's team just proves how good last year's team was.

Alex:

Yeah. I mean, it was program record for wins in a season. Roski will be competing in Montreal's camp.

Andrew:

There you go.

Alex:

So it's good to see that some Mavericks are making it to the PWHL. I hope some of them can stick around and make some of those rosters and play that professional hockey and have that experience. I think I've been pushing to get a p d... WHL wall down at the Mayo. We have an NHL wall.

Alex:

I think we're we're due for a p dub one at this point.

Andrew:

There we go. Moving on, we got some things, to talk about for women's swim and dive. They were first at the Saint Cloud State invite, and they did well in the UWL diving quad. They won... Were...

Andrew:

Took four... First place in 14 events this past weekend. Again, just phenomenal performances from them. Natalie Freeman won the one meter and three meter dive competitions at the UWL diving quad. And, again, another sweep of players of the week for our swim and dive team.

Andrew:

Savannah Acker won NSIC swimmer of the week and Natalie Freeman, NSIC diver of the week. Yeah. Think that's a strong start

Alex:

having back to back dual players of the week. I think this program, as we've mentioned, is a really good program. Yep. And they've got off to a strong start. I think they'll continue, and they'll definitely be a a favorite

Andrew:

for the rest of the season. Yeah. They will be a top team within the NSIC. It'll be fun to watch them through... Compete through the rest of their events this year, and I wish them only good luck and hopefully to continue on the excellent start that they've had to this year.

Andrew:

Otherwise, that is it from us. We wanna say thank you once again to listening to the Maverick Magazine, the athletic podcast for Minnesota State University. I was your host, Andrew, and once again joined by
