A former teacher and choir member has been arrested for threatening to bomb one of Florida's most prominent megachurches. Melissa Ann Redway was taken into custody Monday over an email sent to Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, where she previously taught at the church's Westminster Academy before being laid off following a brain injury that left her unable to perform her duties. Authorities say Redway "did not accept the news well and attempted to rejoin the church choir," with one witness describing her running down the aisle in a cassock during choir practice. In February, she allegedly emailed the church's executive director writing, "I first need to blow up the whole entire church with me at the concert." Redway faces second-degree felony charges; bond was set at $7,500.

Voters in six states went to the polls Tuesday in primary contests that set the stage for this year's midterm matchups — and the results were a mixed bag for both President Donald Trump and progressive Democrats. In South Carolina, Trump's preferred candidate advanced to a Republican runoff for the U.S. Senate seat once held by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, a race in which Graham's sister, Darline Graham Nordone, also moved forward. But in Minnesota, Trump's endorsed pick in the governor's primary fell short, with MyPillow founder Mike Lindell losing his bid. Democrats saw a similar split: their favored progressive captured the party's U.S. Senate nomination in Minnesota, while democratic socialist Francesca Hong came up short in Wisconsin's gubernatorial primary — leaving both parties' establishment and insurgent wings claiming partial victories.

Christian music icon Michael W. Smith is sounding a warning about the state of modern worship. Ahead of the release of "House of Worship," a cinematic event hitting more than 400 theaters August 23rd, the 68-year-old Grammy winner told The Christian Post, "I just think we have to be careful that this thing is not celebrity-driven... You watch social media, and it's just a little me-focused." Smith, who says worship leaders are "supposed to kind of disappear," recalled friend Michael Olson telling him, "The Lord doesn't share His glory with anybody" — words that "took my breath away." The film, executive produced by Smith and Darlene Zschech, features 25 artists including CeCe Winans, Kari Jobe and Matt Redman. Smith also says he's witnessing revival among Gen Z, comparing it to the Jesus Movement that transformed his own life.

A California software engineer who fled the United States after President Donald Trump's reelection has returned home, saying conditions at a Dutch refugee center proved more frightening than what he left behind. Jane-Michelle Arc, 48, a man who identifies as a woman, traveled to the Netherlands in April 2025 and was housed at Ter Apel, the country's largest asylum registration center — a facility criticized for overcrowding and crime. Arc, who described the environment as "dire" and reported hostility from other asylum seekers, said, "This is the dumbest thing I've ever done." Back in San Francisco, he complained that America is "really, really loud and overwhelming" and that "transphobia is quite overt." Seventy-six Americans sought asylum in the Netherlands last year, up from nine in 2024, though Leiden University professor Marlou Schrover says success is unlikely.

The conservative legal group Alliance Defending Freedom is calling on a Colorado school district to scrap what it calls a "graphic" and "ideologically driven" sex education program. In a letter sent Tuesday to the Roaring Fork Schools Board of Education and Superintendent Anna Cole, ADF criticized the "Rights, Respect, Responsibility," or 3Rs, curriculum, which it says exposes children as young as five to illustrated naked bodies, encourages second graders to reject the gender binary, and has third graders draw a "family pride flag." ADF says parents aren't given adequate notice or opt-out rights, arguing "thousands of Roaring Fork parents don't even know that their children are seeing this content — and that is by design." Kate Anderson of ADF's Center for Parental Rights insists parents have a constitutional right to opt out. Cole defends the curriculum as evidence-based and "really focused on safety," and opposes an opt-in policy, saying it would frame the material "as something that's taboo."

A new report finds anti-Christian hostility remains a persistent problem across Europe. The Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination Against Christians in Europe says 40 anti-Christian hate crimes were recorded in July, targeting "Christian places of worship, religious symbols, cemeteries, clergy, worshipers, Christian converts, and other Christian individuals" — matching June's total and just shy of March's high of 41. Vandalism led with 18 cases, followed by eight arsons and seven desecrations. Germany reported the most incidents at 15, ahead of France with 10, Italy with five, and the U.K. with three. Among the worst: a man left excrement inside St. Johann Catholic Church in Bad Dürrheim, causing 15,000 euros in damage, and in Tramore, Ireland, a woman was stabbed while praying before morning Mass, suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
