session much like how our players are all very confused having defeated um the brain and the face
and the wall uh with a cataclysmic electrified boom uh from the final strike that was made against
the brain by the impeccable critical strike of vena good job it's me that's right yeah that
first try uh definitely i didn't get any help on that one uh all you
horn plaps up hey good job even though he's dead this is out of care thanks yeah yeah he's unconscious
he's unconscious um as as that occurs um suddenly the the room begins to reverberate slightly as as the
brain recedes and melts into a puddle of steaming black ichor that quickly dissolves into the air and as it
does so you can see that the face sloughs off the back wall revealing a simple wooden door behind it
however as as this occurs in the the steaming mass of the brain dissolves entirely uh there is something
that floats in the air it is a book a book that floats above where the brain was crackling with
lambent blues and and almost synaptic violets uh as lights move around and dance in this floating book
uh um pan hauser you know how to read the best of all of us yes i will attempt to peruse its
literature but first before i go opening it up and reading it is there a title or any markings on the
book no uh in fact as you as you look at it uh from from a distance the pages are blank and in fact the
sort of leather bound cover is equally blank the only notable thing is that the book itself floats
in the air um and has this sort of energy crackling about it i will reach for the book and try to grasp
it yeah sure uh you touch it as you do you you realize that it's it's small like it's it's less than the
size of a paperback um the writing in here would have to be like incredibly incredibly concise or just
this is more of like a token um i'm gonna cast object whispers yeah sure
yeah do you want to give me a um do you want to give me a arcana or a cultism check
yeah yeah whichever whichever you uh whichever you think you know best here i got a 38 on an arcana
project oh it's pretty good it's pretty it's pretty okay i guess i would agree with that
oh uh all right all right all right all right all right
yeah so you begin to cast object whispers on this this is this is taking some time obviously to to like
like investigate this item so while you're doing that i just want to get a sense of what everyone
else is doing especially given that um you know orin is unconscious on the ground yes we should
maybe have someone tend to orin uh baldrick is already on it and he goes over and dumps a uh healing
bush one moment do i have any actually i do i use lesser healing potion on orin waterboarding him
come on it's over
doing all right bud he looks at his like his his legs are like broken in another direction
his wings are all crumpled and frilled he looks at vena he's like with puppy dog eyes go no
oh come here bud you need a piggyback ride yeah come here pours healing potion on the broken legs
it is immensely painful and orange screams loudly thurston hero point though narrative declaration is
very painful you have no hero points with which to narratively declare denied can i use one of your
villain points to make sure it's very painful yes he's considering
legs never gonna be right again oh no oh no he'll just have to fly
true damn it it's true that's fine that's fine listen i'm gonna i'm gonna pick up my little bird
friend he's got hollow bones how heavy could he be but he's like a little it's only that is your
character uh zorn tell us how fat you are he's pretty lightweight
he's a bird
just a little guy what's heavier 50 pounds of feathers or 50 pounds of bird
actually not not to like derail heavier than feathers not to derail too hard but the more i think
about it because birds and their bones like the meat and on the bird is this like it's very
intertwined with how the bone works it's lightweight yeah as well does this mean that orrin is technically
white meat oh we could cook and eat orrin he is the white boy of the century
they're gonna eat me if i lean like a horse and that means abuse sister girl excuse me this is horrible
maybe that boss should have killed us maybe we're going to send orrin to the dream catcher factory
oh no oh no remember that remember the bit i call orrin a tyson's chicken bag it's becoming the
reality now we're going to be donating you to a pillow orrin no um so as this is going on um
ten hauser yeah you finish your your analysis of this this is another essence which you know you
could impart into an item you even with with the role you you you know you'll be able to identify it
in time but you're actually given the complexity of this you're probably going to need a
a couple days maybe to analyze what the essence can be done if it's affixed to an item but the object
whispers that you use um it does reply back with the records of the mind of cademan deckland all that
remains of the old inheritor of sacristy manor that which is not subsumed by the rot is doomed to study it
hmm well as if there were any doubt we've just vanquished cademan
that's reassuring at least i guess there was a non-zero chance that we hadn't
it's a shame we couldn't talk to him though
perhaps once i finish my study on this book this remnant of him we might have a pathway to learning
more and maybe there's something else around here um can we search around see if there's any other uh
bits of uh interesting information or perhaps objects so as i mentioned when the face sort of
sloughed off the wall it did reveal that there was a wooden door behind the face on the wall very
good that is currently closed yes but that way is progress we know not to do that just yet
it's fair that's that's that that that tracks make sure all of you are ready to go we don't know
what's behind that door it might be answers or it could be trouble
i've had a little bit of a burning query since we had since i noticed it before uh i'm gonna approach
the stained glass window that was in the in the in the area previously because i was concerned as to
what that even meant and i find like a loose stone or something hanging around yeah absolutely
waldrick throws a rock at the stained glass window uh yeah you you toss a rock and like it instantly
shatters like the section you hit shatters uh tumbles of of colored glass you know descend to the
floor as you do you can tell that behind it um is is rock and in fact once you break it the lights
that streamed out team seems to stop entirely and in fact the the shards that like land on the ground
are painted glass uh but there's there's little else to them almost as though someone had set these up
but they were set up wrong
probably just some lingering memory all right my curiosity's been peaked let's go
i'm gonna drink a health potion first real quick absolutely yeah or it's gonna heal himself
yeah good idea which camp out here
orin i can help you out yeah yeah mr he looks at we're hood all disheveled bleeding
big wet eyes yeah all this in venus arms
all right come here come here you wretched little thing and rahua will
voiced orin out from venus arms why am i why am i wretched mr because you're covered in dirt you're
just a dirty rowdy boy but you did a very good job you did a very good job thank you mr just just slap
your hands on my chassis a couple times if you would he just packs that just okay uh how many
healing points are you gonna get first activation oh 24 oh second activation
nice
and 17. you get all those healing i gotta do math
math how dare i can't do math i'm very slow that way okay fine fine here i'll let's do the laser
there we go there you go okay okay study three total for me oh thanks mr huh now i'll get eaten
do your legs work uh he kind of does a little bird hop and stuff like yeah no thanks to the villain
that's what i'm talking about and i'll get to the point they don't um he kind of crutches one leg up
like kind of you know like how animals do and they kind of like keep it up or whatever oh his little
bird leg just like kind of like into himself a little bit he's like he's a flamingo he kind of like
hops around a little bit he uses his staff like a crutch if if you can't walk just you can climb up on
my back and there's enough room for you he just flutters up and it roosts uh on top of
rahua and he's like he kind of points his staff for like forward
and rahua will just stop there for a second he'll look back at oren kind of quizzically look forward
look back double take just gives gives a shrug to the rest of the party and starts walking forward
he's so excited well you heard the man
so i believe we will now travel forward indeed who's opening the door i'll open the door sweet
roll uh electrocuted like all the other doors perception check for me all right i will roll
wait wait wait that is going to be a 29 not bad there's absolutely nothing wrong with this door
and as you open it it leads into a large uh stone chamber that is of a different work it's almost like
kind of cozy um it's it's stone worked stone um and it's a library there are books lining walls and
bookshelves that are built into two walls there's a kind of a globe of the world of time that sits
idly there's a lectern upon which like a larger tome is open um and you just see that there is like
an immense sort of uh repository of knowledge here nice fascinating horn's like wow that's so much paper
i'm excited is this the real library or is this another illusion um taking a look around with my
magic site would i be able to tell uh so detecting magic you are detecting there are several presences
of magic in this room okay sort of scattered about as far as you can tell oh um if if i may interject
please do if this is a rot illusion we may still have some duration left on mossy weapon we could use
those as words to kind of wave around the area just like if if it is rotten likely it would recede at
the presence of moss that is a fair summary i i does that hold water thurston i mean yeah like like
for who you can like go up to
weapon and sort of wave it over and as you do so uh you see that nothing is receding and in fact if
anything as you come into this room and each of you start to to to walk in and begin to take a peek
around you notice that the chamber behind you that that immense large chamber um light seems to be
like warmer light similar to what the light is in here seems to take over like lanterns you didn't
even see in the last chamber seem to flicker on and suddenly that large chamber before almost seems smaller
as though some semblance of reality is reasserting itself
not true to what you had said tanhauser and it looks like capon really is gone
whatever spatial warping had occurred overwhelming presence of rot
it seems how things should be are beginning to write themselves
excellent then quickly let us seek about the information here
find what might be of most import see if there's anything worth taking
absolutely um taking tanhauser's lead rule will start to look through the books that are available
if not the one that is currently open on the lectern yeah for okay so give me a perception check
check for who absolutely
what was that that was a natural one for an 18. and everything gets set on fire
first roll of the session were we supposed to be relaxing i don't think so no there's no relaxing
it's suffering well it's time to soften up um that was beautiful thank you all right um
so um um rahua you go up to the book that is on the lectern almost instinctively drawn to it
um you begin to hear down at the the words that are inscribed they're on um and like you have this
instinctive connection with the words as you read them in some kind of like
right primordial um like connection as you as you see these these runes that start dancing on the
cover of the pages that just like says i prepared explosive runes um and the uh the the book uh
explodes out with a blast of force that hits you for 19 points of damage for hua as the book like
rips apart and shatters um excellent as you as you get uh as you read that a classic spell
for a classic classic um thing um but of course this uh this triggers the uh another complication
um that is uh very applicable here as you're looking good i've got one i've got we'll go ahead
go ahead i was going to say i don't know if you've been fishing for time the entire time
mr rahua watch out for the explosion yeah of course what well you know explosive runes is a is a pre-remaster
spell so this will trigger the copyright infringement complication um as it belongs in another uh similar
style of game uh thank you jc denton 2012 um you are so angered by this discovery and and also uh orin
that you lash out at orin and will make a single attack roll against orin rahua mr rahua what did you
find rahua with like a sooty smoke covered face just lets out of
and he'll reach out and punch orin in the face
and flutters away and i'm so happy do i meet your ac though no good good
you know that like it takes a lot of time for birds to build trust with their owners
oh no all the trust like was severely damaged that day and or like flutters away
for bro kind of crutched over looking extremely hurt and betrayed and he's like mr baldrick like
why why why didn't we try to punch me and he kind of looked for balgic for any reassurance
i don't know
you don't know
you always know all right there's only one thing i can do in this there's only one there's only one
thing i can do and i have to be so tactical of the use of this chat but this was a double hulky crow
complication so if ever there is a time to use this complication
the curse of zedek

like you know camera pan upward and boasting to all the books it's like we can't like as much as
the people who've owned this perception check oran
it's like can i willingly fail to think it's all real no no no give me a perception check okay uh or
and perceives for a total uh four on the die for a total of 21. okay um that's enough for as you're
like waving up you notice that like the stairs lead up just to to to something you can't see and
it's not a library section and in fact as you kind of start looking up in that direction you you hear
some some like bubbling sounds like like some kind of like well you've you've definitely heard these
sounds before some kind of alchemical sounds um or we'll first finish the thought of the the
tan hauser be like we can't we can't burn all these books mr tan hauser you know like when just
imagine if we can eventually you know as the revolution gets more and more support so if we
could send people down here to learn more and more about the world around them and gain even
more knowledge which will empower the people mr tan hauser if we burn the books we burn knowledge
and for us to kind of supersede everything we we need these books you know for good or ill we
can learn from it into the mistakes of the past and help the revolution be even stronger mr tan hauser
don't kill knowledge kill the government
you make a captivating point but this entire manner is rot infested leaving it as it is even if we don't
destroy it the ones who manipulated us to bring us here they certainly will that's why i suggest we take
what seems the most important find these books that are deemed essential enough to be trapped
disarm the trap and bring as much of this back with us as we can
well we're going to be able to carry a whole lot mr tan hauser books are heavy
it says any gamer who's ever had to move houses dude i wanted so badly to interject there
on tan hauser's behalf and just say like you raise a compelling point or however i'm a communist and
i love burning books
so you're getting the dunce hat and you're gonna have to renounce that in front of a crowd just
whatever tankhauser well mr tankhauser
it's like it's up to you it's up to you but i think we could steal things away and try to salvage
even more down the line but i do agree we should bring things that are more important first
but if we can just steal this place away with only us able to access it then maybe we can come back to
this later but if you think it's best to burn everything and not risk it i'll i'll follow you
and uh we won't be burning anything
oren will nod and uh as he kind of he's in the kind of perks his side side of his head up a little
a bit and he looks up and he notices all the bubble or notice of the sound of bubbling and
everything and he looks to uh baldrick oh like what's baldrick doing as he looks over
well baldrick is uh trying to inspect four traps specifically in this case granted they're
arcane so he's kind of out of his depth but he is hearing thirst and would baldrick be able to
hear the alchemical sounds from above yeah like once some of this discourse is like died down a bit
you would start hearing it from above yeah oren points out to him like mr baldrick bubbles and he
points up yeah i hear them i'm i'm trying to think this is not a real particular reason why this
library should even be here unless you know old man was keeping himself busy this whole time
could be something in here not sure though i'm not exactly keen on
stumbling over books looking for explosives
i'll go do what i do best and he's gonna start climbing the stairs towards the alchemical noises
okay okay um you begin making your way up the stairs uh as you do baldrick you see
upstairs uh what is very clearly a basic alchemical workstation um there
there there's scattered uh things around boxes alchemical supplies vials um most of the vials
seem to have burned out the bubbling sound is actually from from some kind of compound that is
currently undergoing it's like last little little bits of being uh superheated by by a burner as as
as you you you sort of see all this you your eyes are attracted to some crates that you have seen
before uh with the telltale like sigil of the of the medics guild on them
medics guild stuff up here
they are the same crates that you saw during your time in the solitude i imagined are they empty as
well or are they sealed uh they appear to be sealed one of them uh the one that's kind
of pulled out furthest has its lid sort of cracked open
uh is there hang on no i have uh i have a tool for this hang on one second i have to remind myself
what it's called it is the traveler's any tool and i am going to extend it into a somewhat long pole
and use it to open up the top of the opened crate yeah uh from afar you probably yes i'm going to
kind of like knock the top yeah yeah not a problem as you do so um there's like a little
dust cloud it looks as though whatever in there underwent some kind of like hyper accelerated
desiccation and you just see like gray particulate matter on the air as though whatever was in there
like very quickly dried up in that case he's going to get the any tool in position and he's going to
try and pry open a different one yeah you're this one this one of course requires you to like crack
it but as you do it's the same thing and in fact it's like almost a a layer of dust on the bottom of
it as though these were filled with something but all of those things dissolved
can i give me a crafting check i was about to say i'm gonna throw a crafting at you to see what i can
discern uh may i use alchemical savant yep okay uh this is for crafting so i can't use that that's
fine okay good here we go here we go still very low with a three but that's 24. um it's enough to
tell the the the substance in here whatever it was um um dried very quickly um and and in fact
probably recently just based off of what you're seeing on the side of the box and whatnot there's
like a dampness to it something that was maybe liquid or gelatin was in there um you're guessing
it was probably like boxed contents of the rot sealed away but it's very thoroughly dead like
it died suddenly and very recently can i ascertain how recently um possibly in the last like
like 30 15 to 30 minutes
aldrick is piecing it together can i roll a medicine to see if it is overly common for
so the thing with rot and this is something i need to fully understand i suppose when something that is
rotten is bested somehow whether that's with moss or if it just ceases to be rotten by way of whatever
right what typically happens after something ceases to be rotten it dissolves is your experience so far
so much like what you saw happen with the brain in the other room it begins to bubble and dissolve
leaving little to nothing left um you know laws of transmutative properties and whatnot uh mean that
sometimes there's still some particulate matter that's left that's probably what this like dust is
is just the like matter remnants of it
but you you like the as far as the the like wider connections you could certainly give me a medicine
check just to just to maybe try to piece something together as part of it yeah actually i'm starting
to think of it myself because if that's just a head that was down there
medicines 21 okay um it's enough to indicate there's like certainly connections and you've you've seen
enough of these before to know that you know whilst the rot seems to have some
alien and unknowable agenda as a substance and that's fairly
noted throughout the world um from a medical standpoint you know you've seen it have connections
to stronger sources of rot as though you know a rot infestation that grows can can almost have like
a focal point it's not a focal point for the whole rot but like you know have have a have a potent rot
creature and you defeat the rot creature that can cause it to dissolve in in an immediate area
thank you baldrick's just kind of muttering to himself at this point because no one else is up
here i presume i think it most like orin was looking to pop behind but that was about it
yeah i didn't want to interrupt i didn't know i was waiting for you to call somebody or something else
no he's he's just quietly investigating while you guys are opening up books and exploding
that is we are exploding that is that is my favorite part of reading i think one is a hard
but you've got a library we've got a library we find the different on the hearts in here before
maybe the rest of his body and and or and like are you kind of like walking up as baltrix doing the
analysis here yeah yeah or you you see those those medical crates um and you you recognize that the
last time you saw them was you know in in the cave in the um the grotto in there as well as you know one
of those was very close to the uh the ruined temple where you fought uh gorka bunker
you find anything mr baltrix orin kind of hopples over nothing but a bunch of dust
whatever was in here was probably tied to the rod at some point and probably within the last
hour probably within the last 30 minutes it wasn't right anymore it was dead
he's going to just prod some of the dust aside with the any tool
my bet is that given that the rest of him was downstairs the rest of him was probably in here
orn nods in agreement and he looks around like i assume the stairs continue to go up right
yeah they they continue to go up they seem to to ascend to a higher level uh where there is a another door
uh orn will kind of like wave down uh everybody else you either still going through books or
collecting whatever and go guys there's a door up here we can get through i don't know if we want to
stay here any longer though
what is what is the group down on the bottom level doing now because you know certainly we've
seen baltrix starting to do some investigations what are the rest of you doing down there
i think uh is there perhaps a cart nearby um there is like a a small cart yes just for
you know shifting small numbers of books maybe a dozen or so i i must ask the group does anyone have
a hero point i got two i do tan hauser you have a hero point yeah i do yeah in that case you have
thurston hillman yes yes are you gonna make like a new vehicle are we are we the bookmobile i'm going
to send a hero point oh no on the fold the portable dirigible from my backpack okay oh no and i'm gonna
set i knew it it's the people's derivative the only way i can improve this is if it could launch caltrops
um or an account hobbles down guy i knew this moment would come i'm a genius i'm a genius
okay but seriously though uh and i'm going to as the dirigible slowly painfully inflates in the middle
and it has like this sound like like a child who's like crying that's what this thing sounds as it comes
into existence yeah baby noise it's like it's like a blocked c-pad machine it's terrible and um next
is a c-pad machine and a vacuum cleaner and uh i'm going to find the books that are that are um mined
and i'm going to see if i can unweave them with my own cutting expertise okay so make him roll to disarm
the mine books give me it first of all give me a perception you got it
what is this cursed session by the way all the officers that was like our 19th natural one
rolling low may suck but it makes it entertaining there's no reason it does it's like how's the game
going roll roll i i roll one to read a book well um but his library killed us his library just

are trying to to find out what exactly is here trying to catalog it um using your arcane skills
you see that um certainly some of these are magical focus do you have a cultism as well

various tones here that are that are detailed about arcane uh occultism though with a 32 it looks like
there yeah um with multiple nanite surges you're nanite surging all over the place i should have

all of this this sort of research what you're able to tell is that there are you know various detailed
histories here pertaining um to the city of outset throughout it's it's many many iterations um things
that you've known about eras of you know fey dominance in the the in the city that have been
cataloged uh times you know the shining beneficite some notations into that era of the city's past
even older back to when you know representatives of the old powers directly uh ruled the city there's
just a lot of history here related specifically to outset um some of the ones that catch your eye the
most is like the vague um intonations uh of the city's like long association with the mysterious
beings known as the entities these sort of other worldly uh beyond space and time um divine if not
more level creatures that have had an association uh many of those books appear as though they've been
looked at a lot of the the books that detail um notes on the first people who were the people who
you know settled in outset when the old powers originally made their decree that the city you
know would be a protected space as long as the people within the city didn't expand beyond the city's
natural boundaries you're finding lots of books that have been analyzed and at least like in the last
few months compared to some of the other tomes been looked at however as you do do so um you find a
you find a letter that has been very meticulously placed between two of the books um specifically
books that detail that more of outsets history with regards to um the the rule of the shining
beneficite and then into the modern era so you're seeing that sort of um notation there with with
different different different tomes but then this this paper sticks out and what what draws you to
it as you see it is that it is written in the same handwriting as the entries of the journal that you saw
uh throughout the manor earlier

the smoldering city what do i know about the smoldering city you can give me a society check
and it's got an anti-search for no reason it's a 33 and not a 30 oh yeah all right so the smoldering
city is a settlement that exists out of outset um except it is long since abandoned and and gone
it was an attempt uh in prior generations to construct a second uh settlement near to uh outset
it is a city now that remains only as dilapidated ruins and known as the smoldering city for the sort
of latent embers that float in the air it is a city that was directly responsible for a a massive and
rather seismic shift in the area it was the sort of hubris of the people of outset at the time
who went on to think that they could disregard the the orders of the old powers who instilled in them
that they could like that that outset couldn't go beyond its established boundaries um and so
you know what what ended up happening was the the old powers ceased their squabbling saw the people of
outset had denied them um and then they turned their ire towards outset at this point papa storm
battered it with ceaseless winds that ruined farmlands mama decay crap cracked open the earth um uncle blaze
laughed fire and burned the edifices that had gone beyond the old powers uh borders the city and it became
known as the smoldering city sometimes known as the smoldering berg uh and then auntie drown
uh brought her fists down into the seas which permanently flooded the land turning it into the
swamp or swamps round outset that currently exist and broke a permanent land um connection between
the continents of perdoma and terlim if you look at the um the the actual uh globe map on the background
here uh you can see sort of that central continent is uh perdoma uh there used to be a land connection
between it and the continent to the west but as part of their sort of arrogance that uh that was was
entirely placed underwater and that is you know the cataclysm that led to a lot of the area around
outset turning to shit

with the rest of my party uh and let them know what i find especially oren
horn just eyes just kind of go a different direction

that you know which when you find something you feel elated after it but but for me seeing what he's
become and everything else i he kind of ponders for a bit like
i guess we have to keep on finding the real cause to everything try to uncover it all mr ten hauser
because if this is going to happen to even the gorgamonger and a whole bunch of other people then
this is deeply rooted than we thought i believe you're exactly correct and vena
it seems in our future we might have eminent need for an airship pilot are you up to the job
i think i remember a thing or two well then we just have to get the thing from sandal wherever

and analyze the effects thereof um you also see um there were effects that were like using um
like mediums so rather than like trying to graft this substance into human flesh they might have
layered the human flesh with something and tried tried a thing you notice like dragon scales that have
been meticulously laid out here and in fact recognize the the the texture of some of them
from your prior engagement in the solitude yeah as expected um can you also give me a perception
check as you're up there yeah is there any sign that this was at all effective or was this just a waste
um you can like there are there are some alchemical notes here that you can grab but they're going to
take time to go he'll take them because he may as well try to see what this whack job was up to and if
he learned anything of value more important there's very likely formula as well um as you as you go
to collect those give me a perception check uh first though uh 26 okay two things of of uh
important note happening here first of all as you go to collect that um you grab one of the formula books
and as you do um several like there are several like torn notes that are underneath
the um the formula book they look like they were intentionally stacked there but they are torn out
and they are written in a different um a different word mark than the the like the journal entries you saw
except for one of the journal entries you you would recognize this as matching another um
um like another one of the the entries that you saw um from from your journeys there was one that was
not you know cademan's writing uh but here i will show you these notes that are underneath yeah
these there aren't many they they look fairly um they look fairly like like they were they were
clearly assembled and placed under here if you would like to read those for the class i can also provide
you the text version if that would help i'd say bodrick would just be like quietly reading them himself so
if you want to quietly read them for the uh for the audience
i now know three of the four dispatch agents to each of the three they are handled confident the
smoldering city is the fourth and where the last act must occur the splinters are in place and only
intervention in the ritual could halt the plan the spark in the city shall beget the greatest flame
a new era of freedom begins soon free from the shackles that imprison us and baldrick will just sort
of think to himself i either tan has a crib notes from him or the other way around
and and the as as you circuit you you also hear
it's not coming through your mind you hear this like mumble like
like someone's like shouting and it's coming from that door above
uh i've gathered everything i can here i've got the i've got the alchemical notes i've got the formula
that i'll look at later yeah uh baldrick will ascend the stairs to the door
okay so so you you begin making your way up uh as you do like you can kind of see like all of your
your squad mates below uh around the dirigible getting it ready with books
you got it man yep uh then you come up to the door where the sound is is
much louder and certainly sounds like the muffled voice of someone like shouting shouting like how
far away like behind it like like behind the door but it's muffled somehow like
strange
baldrick will click the latch and open up the door
the door goes off into a hallway uh that connects to a set of spiral stairs however there's like a
a a segment of the wall that pushes in further that's uh looks to be a storage area of crates
but there is also a cage um it's a human-sized cage with with like a hay bottom to it uh and there
is a man who is in the cage with like their mouth covered in like what appears to be loose bandages
can you describe who it is sandal deckland who is in the cage oh terrific
uh
i like looks up at you with like wide eyes kind of like puppy
baldrick is going to look around the rest of the room while sandal sits there
yeah um and you can tell that the box here is like storage goods of like basic food preservatives
like rations
and like water like this would have been if someone wanted to work out of that lab
and that library they would really have all the facilities they needed here there's even a small latrine
that is like off to the side of the cage that could be used as well
mm-hmm so he was being kept up here then curious considering it hadn't been that long since we had
left the party mm-hmm it'd been you you'd you'd had like a day or so
two two days i believe between coming here and that
can i do a quick inspection of the area to see how well used this cage area is
sure like how long has it been this way i presume he's still in decent condition himself right oh

unworked area kind of underneath the set of stairs that looks to be not an armory but like a like a
magical um like some kind of like magical workbench which i'm sure you would point out to tanhauser
uh and you find that there are a total of four weapon runes that have all been etched onto rune stones
here um for reference and again like it'll take you some time to to move these but um you know tanhauser
can can very quickly identify them um with with obscene checks so i won't even you know waste our time
with that but you find a plus two weapon potency rune so that'll upgrade a weapon to a plus two weapon
uh a plus two armor potency room um a greater menacing rune so what that is is um
you get a plus two item bonus to intimidation uh checks to coerce others and uh what you can also
do is use it to cast the fear spell uh innately when you like place it on onto something uh and then
there is another one that is uh the swarming rune um this is a allows you to make a copy of the
weapons many time over you can put it onto a um a single weapon um and essentially like allow you to
shoot your weapon out in a 30 foot cone uh that will damage like everyone in that cone
uh huh that's very interesting um i've put those all into the into the party stash but you're you're
you're basically discovering all of these as as you're going through stuff i got rune stones
uh there's also a workbench back here i don't i don't know if that's of interest to you tanny
um what could i do with a workbench um you can tell that it's more like this was just where the
the runes might have been created and they're they're pretty old so it's it's it's clearly not

the stairs um eventually the the spiral staircase that you ascend uh sandals head hitting every
like fourth step thump thump thump um you you you make your way up um and the the spiral staircase
after approximately several stories worth of spiraling up and up ends at a wall with a lever
i'll pull the lever as you do so the wall kind of clicks and some kind of mechanical mechanism causes
it to move which well yeah um as it as it moves back um it reveals a uh chamber that you remember in fact it
was like one of the the first chambers you entered after uh entering the basement
and you know that if you just take a take a sharp right and go up some more stairs you will be back
in the manor all right we're here in the manor yeah so you carry on uh where you return to uh
the dekland the sacristy manor i should say uh as you do so everything is as very much as as you you
left it coming back up into that sort of hidden area where exactly are you going do we have any more
business here or do we head back to uh baldrick's house well is there anyone that's still alive in
here that we need to get out everybody else seems to have run all right i don't see any reason for us
to stick around oran will bring out gorgomonger uh because the dirigible might not be able to last the
long journey and uh he'll get away and gorgomonger will will help carry the books and will help ferry
them along and uh and oran proposed like we should probably go back to the home base and
figure things out unfortunately we can't we don't know where his bachelor pad is but he did say the
rook's plaster so we could go to the rook's plaster and by the time he wakes up he can bring us to his
place and we can get the paperwork squared away so we can save ourselves some sneaking around and
and dealing with officials just so we can get out scot-free with the airship instead of
you know killing for it we can find the bachelor pad get the paperwork get him to sign it all over
to us and if he doesn't we'll shoot him dead and take it anyway yes or not i like this plan i like
the path of this resistance as well it's funny uh all right who wants to come with me to the rook's
pilaster to go and find this thing me me me me me me so as you exit the front door and enter into
the courtyard having this discussion all of you get the telltale whiff of smoke um but as you've all
smelled smoke before but it's it's kind of permeating the air
um and like in a place like outset a lot of fire and smoke would not be a normal thing that you'd want to
let go
there is also a din like almost like the air is reverberating
like there's distant checkouts that's um
that's bad that that sounds pretty bad let's go find out what's happening
it sounds like a fire this yeah we're let's go uh take a look and see what's what's going on
okay so you make your way back um i'm assuming sort of into some of the the the tunnel areas those
sort of lower levels that's connected to here and into the city streets um
you're still in the prince's pilaster um and you're moving about as as you do so though the the shouting is
intensifying you go through subterranean passages making your way and eventually eventually um you
start seeing like people running and shouting uh you see a group uh looks to be like a huddle of
six people um a human man an elven woman and some mixed ancestry um teens all sort of rushing down one of
the halls looking haggard
they're kind of like running past you oh i'm gonna try to catch one yeah the man's
some kind of some kind of revolt some kind of revolt it's not it started in the
started here either either but the pawns spreading everywhere
oren perks up and looks at tannhauser his eyes are wide and slightly watery and he's like how's there
it's happening yes yes are you ready
uh yeah he's just grabs the sky where tell me what you know everything you know
he started he started killing people the government officials just just killing them
uh they they they're taking over guilt places it's it's it's it's panamonium
all right everyone great job high fives everyone we helped make this happen
let's go group up your group hug i could have vena baldrake or in unconscious sandal declan
i couldn't have done it without any of you what about rahua rahua too i just forgot him because
he was carrying sandal declan and sandal declan is so big i couldn't see you remembered sandal declan
but not rahua rahua will remember this flashes and you literally have no way out of that that makes
you look good reputation no that's so fun that's real i fucked up tannhauser would never make that
you just put that over rahua in the uh yeah yeah
oren excitedly you're like like come on let's go see what's going on and oren will uh bring him
and gogabunger and all the stuff in tow and you you you make your way out eventually coming to
to like an upper balcony area because the prince's pilaster is um certainly certainly raised uh
compared to the other pilasters in the city and as you finally come out to see some open sky
uh you can you can hear shouting you can hear panic uh people like there are people who are
literally scared in the streets just like huddling trying to find cover but as you see it there is
something else that takes your attention out in the distance out in the distance a ways beyond even
the city walls which you can only see over because of your your current status inside the prince's
pilaster the elevated pilaster um you see a column of flame
that rises off in the far distance miles away from the city that gives everything outside a
uh a strange like orange lambent glow
as you you see this something else occurs a shadow falls over all of you briefly um and you hear the
the sounds as overhead an airship flies off not towards the pillar but off towards another distant horizon
and as it flies off towards that horizon uh vena you recognize the ship
oh my because it's yours
and it seems to be flying off
towards like a dark looming storm cloud further to the to the southwest of the city

you motherfuckers
hold on hold on hold on hold on how low to the ground are they oh like like well above you you can
only recognize it just because airships are such unique constructs
fuck shit what's going on that's my fucking ship
what's going on you hear like some old man shouting who's like crouched by underneath like a section of
of the escarpment here end of the bloody world is what's happening people went crazy after that thing
happened pointing off towards the column of flame say the smoldering cities woke up
we're all gonna die i guess we found out where the benefactor went
what do you know about this smoldering city is there a prophecy what no just there's a column of
flame it's the old powers hey hey right up this part of the world where this last happened
everyone went insane some kind of revolt just people just breaking things it's coordinated like
someone's it's organized
but no one knows what they're doing they're just breaking
the world breaking things i see then now is the time now is the time for the revolutionary vanguard
we must quickly make it to our council we must take control of this riot before it goes any further

i get the sense that we're about to get quite a few answers to quite a few mysteries
but for now we must gain control of this situation we want a revolution not a riot
well if anyone ever needs a voice now mr tenhauser i think it would be yours
very good uh orange kind of like looks around and he looks at gorgamonger and uh do i still have that
bullhorn spell no i would have to like switch it out or so but um

try to get mr tannhauser where he needs to go
sure should i should i meet everybody somewhere in specific is there a landmark we're meeting back up
at that bodrick's house oh that's where all right we're trying to meet up that's fine i'm i'm the people's
pack mule it's it's okay no the architect of the revolution can't even remember my name
what what spells do you have oh i'm almost entirely tapped i can't even fly anymore because
my armor's already manifested he can't even fly can't fly no more doesn't fly so good uh
i can walk faster i can make things slower and i can stop somebody from dying

else has any suggestions feel free um but i think that's that could be the plan that basically i'll

as tannhauser flies around try to rally people and then so you're going you're going to sort of split
this up yes okay nervously now saying but it i think the plan is to basically help uh
is to help tannhauser because we have all this stuff like if we all want to stay together i'm
still down for it i would i would prefer it so everybody gets a chance to do stuff but uh i'm just
trying to think of like efficiently we have all this stuff now and and a personnel that we might want to
keep alive so yeah it's like we can do two birds with one stone as long as one group stays together
and the other group goes fast you know because remember it's like on foot it's like a couple
hours to get to yeah to to baldrick's house from here yeah and then at least for flying around
you know program i can go really fast so it's like hmm what's this fly speed
so we have to still figure him out because technically he's using the template of the
burr we've been so busy so technically he's fast as fuck yep so we're doing role play flavor here
okay okay okay because if we go if we go role play wise he's still a large large dragon
what's orange saying is uh he's bullshitted some of these stats but that's okay we'll go we'll
figure it out we'll figure it out i'm using the burr template mechanically in combat he's fine

rally people yeah i'm going to try and get uh to the pawns pilaster and organize the revolution now
that there's like this huge thing i want to maintain so you're all going back to the pawns pilaster
you're just trying to get there faster yes that is correct okay okay okay um
all right all right so so tanhauser and oran you're going or sorry sorry tanhauser and gorgamonger
are going there as quickly as they can that is correct okay okay yeah because oran can't quite keep
up with that i don't think i mean i would also ride on with gorgamonger and stuff but um large

do you have any great skills for um managing a mount um like i'm curious if like riding a dragon

i'm probably used to war on top of a machine um so being on top of a uh on a on a beast it wouldn't
be the exact same but many of those skills would transfer okay no no i'm just getting getting like
a getting a sense if this would be something new for you or not but it seems like it's it's nothing
too bad so yeah you're able to to to begin flying and as you you sort of soar a bit overhead you can
see that there is like there is a just just devastation below fires are being set mobs of people are
running around looting um it's kind of disorganized chaos
i see i see uh are there any any semblances of um my my general revolutionary council anywhere like any
any like uh uh banner like waving revolutionaries or is this just like mass hysteria
give me a warfare lore check you got it i i so badly want this to be both of those things it is

as though someone wants to use the revolution just to cause chaos in town

co-opted i can take it right back by taking advantage of this and having the hopefully the
vanguard party that i've established uh begin to uh take control of localized segments of this you try

so this is definitely like a your force of personality thing this i think the best social skill you have
here is intimidation to coerce them because you are not a diplomatic character absolutely totally

to like put this together and get like a semblance here um but more shocking is just this like revelation
of you know what has been allowed to be done in your name because you are seeing the raw damage and
this is like this is not even the the noble areas this is people who've just been fucking tearing apart
the regular people's districts yeah yeah this ain't the best um but you you managed to like put an end to
this and like we kind of have this moment as you as you do put an end to to this side of things um
that you know you could tell there's a lot more work to be done but this has spread quite a bit and
whilst you're able to like simmer things down here this is a city and this is not looking good
so we kind of like move away from your scene as you've like regained control in like a small
section of the pawns pilaster but you you have this realization in this moment now of just
understanding the breadth of this um but then we cut back to baldrick's house
baldrick you were the first to get there uh-huh your house is as it has always been
is there anyone around not outside i mean beyond just like that's what i mean is there
and like around no no it looks like this area is actually generally pretty like low-key that was part
of why you picked the house too is it's like not a major neighborhood or a thoroughfare or anything like
that to win on that uh he is going to go into his home and he is going to lock the door and then
he's going to barricade the door yeah you go in you lock it and as soon as you lock it like there's a
oh thank the gods as do hakus is there hakus barricade the other side too i i don't think they're coming
here the old gargoyle like comes forward there they're there i don't know what's happening out
there tessin seemed to say it's happening and then went out the the the the i think it's the i think
it's the pillar of fire one thing at a time where the hell is everyone i don't i don't know crotch
left tessin left i just mama valine left everyone everyone just just left and why didn't you
because i'm not stupid do you see what they're doing out there yes i do they're doing exactly
what tan hauser wanted yeah yeah and then they're gonna ruin the city when the problem is over there
in the smoldering city they have to did someone has to deal with that or it's all gonna go to pot

and like like like from baldrick's perspective you see like the like the establishment of a city
