Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

He is our Sacrifice, our Advocate, our Brother, bearing our human
form before the Father’s throne, and through eternal ages one with the
race He has redeemed—the Son of man. – Steps to Christ, pg. 14
My eyes fluttered open for the first time—my life had just
begun—but already, the world was cold, frightening, and strange.
Some doctor spanked me, then laughed like an inhumane vampire
who would love nothing more than to tear wings off butterflies. As if I
wasn’t already confused enough with their strange speech and giddy
mannerisms, people kept grabbing me and tickling my nose.
When, to my relief, they finally dumped me back into my crib, I
happened to notice one person who seemed to completely understand
me. He crawled over to me, cooed in my own language, smooched my
newborn hair, then announced triumphantly: “Buba!” It was Nathan,
my best possible human friend, my inseparable partner in crime; my
older brother. I looked up at this intriguing member of my species, little
knowing that I would continue to look up to him for years to come.

“Dude, it’s not as bad as it looks,” my brother spoke in
soothing tones as I stuffed my foot into a shallow crevice. I resigned
again to terror as my fingernails scraped for a grip in the loose shale,
sending a few pebbles tumbling into the abyss below. I would have
turned back long ago if my brother had not lured me further up. But
since I learned to trust my brother from birth, it was my instinct to
follow him now. The love he had shown me my entire life was reason
enough for me to have faith in him.
The trials of life may intimidate me, but there is Someone else
I have learned to love and trust Who leads me on the way that He has
walked. I thank God that He has given me Jesus as my Brother!
