And here’s today’s news from National Health Executive on Friday the 10th of May 2024.
Announcing its monthly statistic update, NHS England has revealed that it has met the 28 day faster diagnosis target for cancer for the second month in a row with ambulances responding to callouts faster than the month before too. The number of patients waiting more than 62 days for treatment is also down to its lowest point since April 2020.
The overall waiting list has remained stable at 7.54 million, with 6.29 million individual patients, following a total of 1.43 million treatments being delivered in March. From April 2023 to March 2024, the health service delivered over 17.4 million appointments and procedures, which is a jump of nearly a quarter of million compared to the 12 months up to February 2020.

Yesterday, National Health Executive hosted its annual digital health online conference where leaders from across the sector convened to discuss everything from AI and telehealth to the implications of digital technology on the workforce and health inequalities.
One of the panels included Trish Greenhalgh from Oxford University’s Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Dr Devesh Sinha from Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals, MaryAnn Ferreux of Health Innovation Kent Surrey Sussex, and Dr Elena Provenzano of Cambridge University Hospitals. Our panel explored how digital might not be the answer to improving health inequalities and more work is to be done to improve care.

The day also hosted a keynote speech from Dr Faris Al Ramadani, from Warwickshire East Primary Care Network. He spoke on where digital is helping the NHS most, how it factors into the patient pathway and finally where technology can take the health service in the future.
All our panels and keynote speeches from the digital health online conference are available online in addition to all the content from our backlog, net zero and workforce online conferences.
