More Than We See

Some moments never leave us.
Not because they were dramatic. Not because they changed everything overnight. But because, for reasons we may never fully understand, they continue finding their way back to us.
In this episode, Natalie explores why certain experiences become lifelong landmarks while others quietly fade away. Through stories about a childhood memory she never knew she had, a friendship that almost began years before it actually did, and conversations with people from many different backgrounds, she reflects on memory, coincidence, destiny, and the quiet moments that continue shaping us long after they happen.
Maybe every lasting memory has a reason.
Maybe some are simply beautiful.
Either way, they're worth noticing.

What is More Than We See?

More Than We See is a grounded, practical conversation about intuition as a human sense and capacity.

Hosted by Natalie of Immersive Spirit, this podcast blends lived experience, nervous-system–informed insight, and real-world tools to help people better understand how perception, sensitivity, and intuition are experienced—and how to work with them in everyday life across kids, teens, families, and adults.

Episodes explore the many ways intuitive awareness is felt and understood—from curiosity and excitement, to subtle noticing, to moments that challenge what we thought we knew. Along the way, conversations offer practical perspectives, simple tools, and steady ways of relating to intuition so it supports daily life rather than overwhelms it. This is a place to land for people who are curious, overwhelmed, skeptical, sensitive, living intuitively, or simply paying attention in a new way.

No hype. No dramatizing. Just clear conversation, lived insight, and practical ways of working with what we sense—alongside the quiet truth that there is more than we see, and that understanding it can make life feel steadier, clearer, and more alive.

Have you ever noticed there are certain moments that just stay with you. Not always the biggest ones sometimes it's something small like a conversation…that you still think about years later. Or someone you met for five minutes, a decision that didn't feel like a big deal at the time. For some reason those are the ones that keep finding their way back…
You don't even have to try to remember them Like song comes on or you drive past a certain place or someone says a phrase and suddenly you're right back into that memory. I have always wondered why that happens. Why out of everything we live through does a handful of moments Stay so close everything else just fades away. Is it emotion or memory the way our brains decide what's worth keeping or is there something else going on? I don't know that we're gonna answer that today.
But I think it's worth spending some time with. So grab your coffee grab your tea and join me Welcome to more than we see I'm Natalie. Let's get into it. The older I get the more interested I am and actually looking awkward not on a nostalgia, but more like curiosity, like seasons of my life that I barely remember. Vacations conversations just gone.
And then there are moments that never really left I've started thinking of them as kind of like landmarks. The strange thing is they rarely look like landmarks while you're living in them. Sometimes they do like a wet or the birth of a child the day somebody dies, of course those stay with us But other times it's just a Tuesday. You're walking into a room Driving a different way home stopping to talk to somebody for a few minutes. Nothing about it asks for your attention, and yet something in you notices.
Maybe years later. And you don't stop to analyze it. You probably couldn't even explain why. Life just keeps moving weeks past months past…
And then one day you're looking back thinking, think something may have changed in that moment…
Not necessarily in the moment itself, but because of everything that came after…And I realized that they don't…
all stay for the same reason. Some changed our lives some just became a part of our hearts. Like my dad reminded me recently. He had sent me a number memory that I had completely forgotten And actually I don't think I probably ever remembered it because I was two or three at the time It was right after we moved into a new home. A storm had passed and he had taken my sister and I out in the yard And I was stretching for rainbow in the backyard And he told me I was standing you were just reaching for it maybe trying to touch it And he teased me about it like you know the way a dad would.
But then he told me something that kind of caught me off guard. Is that he carried that picture of me ever since. So fifty years later he could still see that little girl reaching into the sky And I don't remember the rainbow at all or even about that house very much. Outside of the ghost that came in it or actually the neighbor's ghost, but he does And I thought about it a lot since. Why that moment out of every afternoon that we shared.
It didn't change the course of either of our lives. It wasn't some big turning point It was just beautiful And I think that's allowed to be the whole reason for that memory. Maybe not every memory stays because trying to teach us something So I think that kind of falls in that category maybe some just stay with us quietly becoming part of our stories or the people that we love then there are other memories the ones that carry different kind of weight like the ones that make you wonder if something was happening underneath that you just couldn't see at the time. One of those happened to me on a completely ordinary Saturday and they've happened to you too. A good friend and I were sitting at a table working on a stop puzzle You know those afternoons where you start a puzzle and somewhere along the line you forget about what you're doing entirely and you just start talking and one story leads to another And there you go.
And at some point she had mentioned a concert that she had been to in Colorado I looked up and I was like Wait what concert? And she told me, This is Colorado Around the same time I I was at that same concert, so we started getting curious and we started pulling on that Fred. Then came Disney World She was there two Unremarkable, but we figured out that it was around the same time. Which is interesting because she grew up in California I grew up in Colorado. Neither of us had a real reason to be in Florida at the same time It was a coincidence.
Suddenly we weren't talking about the concerts anymore We were comparing timelines, like trying to remember years of data trying to remember…
where we had been And I guarantee most if not all of you have experienced that with your friends too. The more we talked the stranger it got It wasn't one overlap. It was several. Eventually we just stopped and looked at each other across this half finished puzzle. Like, the question really wasn't isn't that funny or isn't that a coincidence It was more like how did we not meet Or maybe the better question is how many times did our lives act try to introduce us.
And I've thought about that afternoon a lot over the years. Not because it proves anything That's never really been the point It changed the kind of questions I asked. It made me wonder how often our move alongside the people long before we know their names. How many stories begin before we realize that we're already in them with them. And whether some moments only become meaningful because enough life happens afterwards…for us to recognize it.
So ask ten people what something like that means and you'll get ten different answers. Coincidence, hindsight they'll say our memories get rewritten that we connected us after the that our brains are a remarkable pattern finding machines. I actually agree with that a lot. Our minds are extraordinary, constantly sorting through thousands of experiences…
and deciding what's worth keeping. I think that's true. I just don't think that's the whole story. There have been too many moments in my own life that didn't fit neatly into that explanation…
Not dramatic or lightning bolt type moments just experiences that refuse to disappear that seemed ordinary while I was living them only revealing their weight later…
I stopped trying to decide whether every one of those moments has a perfect explanation nation That's not my point. Instead I become interested in what happens when we pay attention to them because I am curious Like, that…
is curiosity of a different thing and I think curiosity is better than comparing. If you let two things be true at one months but our brains are extraordinary and that life can still surprise us. I think that's awesome Them Hey quick pause before we keep going If you're listening to this show your probably someone who thinks about this stuff even between episodes. You know those things You have questions maybe you don't always know who to ask. And maybe the people around you aren't quite in this conversation with you.
That's what IS Townsquare is for. Is the community space inside of a MRSA spirit where people like you grounded curious, come to connect. There are resources and tools and just amazing people with a four to five live events every month, and people who get it without having to explain yourself first. If that sounds like what you've been looking for You can find us at w w w dot immersive dash spirit dot com And the link is in the show notes too. Alright Let's get back to it Or be the word that fits here as best as Destiny.
Though not Destiny fits every script. I don't think where actors reading pre determined lines are that choices, we get to decide what shapes us what doors open and others close. But I also think there are certain people in places and moments that carry a different kind of gravity. Almost like life keeps gently…
drawing us towards them. Different traditions have different names for that like soul contracts or faith or synchronicity. I've never been attached to the label and see experience that matters to me not what you call it and the experience can be markedly different based on my personal experience facilitating past life and inner life regression for some clients. They're often seeking answers about purpose and soul contracts their gifts abilities past lives all of that And regardless of what people believe I've noticed they describe remarkably similar moments. I knew there was something different as what they'll say.
I felt like I'd known them forever. I couldn't explain it then but it makes sense now. Different beliefs different language a genuinely…familiar, experience underneath. And as part of why I don't spend a lot of time worrying about missing what's meant for me. I think a lot of us carry that fear What if I choose the wrong career the wrong city the wrong relationship What if I missed the opportunity that was supposed to change everything in my life.
I understand and I get those questions a lot And I've asked them my bells. But when I think back to my friend. I don't think about all the times we almost met I think about how many chances life seemed willing to give us. Colorado Florida, cruising in cars and Kearney Nebraska one summer. Probably half a dozen more that we'll never even know about.
Neither of us was searching. Neither of us even knew the other existing and our lives kept moving through the same spaces until eventually they didn't almost meet anymore. They did. That's shaped how I think not because it proves Destiny but because it reminds me the things that are truly belonging in my life are gonna be more patient than I'd give them credit for opportunities do disappear That's true Some relationships end Some roads close Life is real, but I don't think the meaningful things in our lives always hanging by a thread of one missed phone call or long term. Sometimes life circles back Sometimes people find each other later than expected.
Sometimes understanding arrives years after the experience itself…
I actually kind of find that comforting. Not because it makes life predictable, I think that's quite the opposite it. It lets me relax the grip a little Stop worrying so much about getting everything exactly right and trust that paying attention matters more than trying to control every outcome…
Maybe that's really what all of this has taught me It's not certain attention. There's a difference One asks us to have all the answers the other just us to stay awake to our own lives. I started looking in the memories that way I noticed something else. Some keep returning because they still have something to show us. Others return because we've changed.
The memories didn't become different We did. Every few years we revisit the same moment with new eyes more experience, a little more compassion sometimes a little more agreed sometimes more gratitude. And we know that something that couldn't have been seen before It's almost like memories…grow alongside of us. That might be why certain moments never really leave Not because they're frozen in the past but because they're still becoming part of us part of our lessons. Maybe you're listening to this thinking I don't know if I've ever had one of those or I think you probably have It just might not look like mine.
Maybe yours was something someone said to you years ago Like a sentence that quietly changed how you saw yourself. A teacher a stranger a grandparent, someone who had no I idea that their words would stay with you. Maybe it was a decision like a job you almost didn't take or a move you almost didn't make. A phone call you almost ignored. At the time it felt like one ordinary choice among many but looking back, you can see the before and after upped.
Or maybe it's not just a memory that still makes you smile. Maybe it's the way your grandmother left or the smell of your childhood home. A fishing trip with your dad, or a daughter are we reaching out for that rainbow not because it changed anything just because it became a part of your heart. Those deserve attention to. Not every lasting memory is gonna be asking to solve a mystery Some are just reminding us who we love And who we were and who we're still becoming.
So that's probably where I'm gonna leave Not with any answer just a little more curiosity. The next time one of those memories quietly finds you don't rush past it Don't feel like you have to explain her Don't feel like you have to assign it any big spiritual meaning either. Just sit with it for a second Those why it's still there. This week pay attention to the moments that keep finding you The conversations you still remember a person who still comes to mind. The afternoon that never really left.
And if someone shows up ask yourself one simple question. Why this one? Not because every memory has an answer That's not true. But every now and then that memory can't open a door…
I'll see you next time
