Sea Lemon – Sunday

PART 1 FACTS
Ween – Freedom of ‘76
- On this date in 2015, the famed band had already been broken up since 2012. However, they announced that they would come together to play two shows the next year in 2016.
- The two shows were scheduled for President’s Day in Denver, with the band noting they could not wait to get back together on stage & hear it from the fans.
- Interesting to note that the band have not stopped since, having played over 90 shows through last year. They also have been playing some rarities from the catalogue that they hadn’t previously attempted outside the studio, including “Israel,” and “Kim Smoltz,” the latter of which didn’t make the cut for The Mollusk LP but had been circulating amongst fans for years.
Oberhofer – Dreaming of U
- The band out of Brooklyn formed by Brad Oberhofer is out with their 3rd career LP “Smothered” as of Friday, and this one has been getting some good circulation since the album dropped.
- Nice band right here kind of in the neo-surf category of Allah Las, Surfer Blood, and Yellow Ostrich if that gives the unfamiliar a frame of reference.
clovo – Girls
- Just out last week is the latest single to drop from Mammal Sounds down in Australia and our lady of the email drop Jez Ryan.
- This is a new project out of Australia’s Gold Coast by Chloe Magee that’s being described in the presser as a mix between Mia Rodriguez, Billie Eilish and Grimes. Inspired by International Women’s Day, the artist says the song aims to be an anthem for females of the world fighting off discrimination and sexual assault. Big up to that sentiment, no doubt.
Fake Dad – I Like The Beach
- This is a duo also out of Brooklyn composed of Andrea de Varona & Josh Ford who mainly want you to know everything is going to be okay.
- The song is by de Varona about Ford, as the duo are also thoroughly in love, and reflects the deepness of their connection.
Sea Lemon – Sunday
- The pandemic has brought out a lot of thoughtful and introspective releases from artists and for emerging dream-pop artist Natalie Lew, better known as Sea Lemon, it provided the perfect place to start.
- This song sounds so upbeat on the musical surface, but a deeper dive into the lyrics shows angst, doubt, and guilt that Law has felt during this time.
eggcorn – London
- This seems to be an artist just making her way, and I cannot for the life of me find deeper info on her. So, we’ll explain what an eggcorn is, because it is certainly not a made up thing.
- In linguistics, an eggcorn is an idiosyncratic substitution of a word or phrase for a word or words that sound similar or identical in the speaker's dialect. The new phrase introduces a meaning that is different from the original but plausible in the same context, such as "old-timers' disease" for "Alzheimer's disease".

PART 2 SONGS
Deathsport - I HATE PEOPLE
Whoop – Smile
San Fermin - You Live My Dream
Cola - Blank Curtain
Cousin Kula - Something So Sweet
Nuala Honan – I'm Alright
PART 2 FACTS
Deathsport - I HATE PEOPLE
- We had a very cheerful and upbeat start to this part of the show. Well, not so much cheerful but definitely upbeat.
- Anyway, Deathsport is an indie duo comprised of brothers, Tom and Mike Zitzelsberger. Not much info about them online but I do know that they quietly released their debut EP this past Friday. The EP is called Case Study Songs.
- I like their sound a lot, they have that classic, nostalgic indie, shoegaezy sound. Very solid stuff.
Whoop – Smile
- To continue with those classic indie vibes, we had Whoop, with their very latest, “Smile”.
- Whoop is a quartet based in North Carolina. They came on the scene last year. The band started because these friends just started jamming in a barn.
- About a year later, they have already completed their debut full-length record. That self-titled debut will be out this Friday via Porcelain Records.
San Fermin - You Live My Dream
- San Fermin is a Brooklyn-based band fronted by Ellis Ludwig-Leone. This new track is actually a colllab track made with Wild Pink.
- “You Live in My Dream” is San Fermin’s latest offering coming ahead of their new EP. The EP is called “In The House” and it will drop December 10th via Better Company.
Cola - Blank Curtain
- This is a very groovy song. Cola is a quartet but two of the members are from the much-loved Montreal-based band Ought. Ought broke-up after 9 years and but the front man and bassist started this new band, Cola.
- “Black Curatin” is their debut single as Cola and it comes to us via Frie Talk.
- I think it’s a great first offering. They haven’t provided details yet but they have already announced that a debut album is on the way, so look out for that.
Cousin Kula - Something So Sweet
- Cousin Kula is out with another super –strong single ahead of the release of their eargerly anticipated debut album.
- The album is called Double Dinners, it will be 11 tracks, it will drop on November 26th via Rhythm Section.
- Cousin Kula has a great sound, I love their jazz influence, and I, like may others are patiently waiting for that new album to drop. I’m sure it’s going to be great.
Nuala Honan - Im Alright
- I’m really feeling this one. We have a smooth end to close off Part 2 of the show courtesy of Nuala Honan.
- Nuala Honan is an Australian-born, now Bristol-based artist. About 3 months ago, she released a remix album called Doubt & Reckoning Remixed and “I’m Alright” is her first new single since the release of that album.
- There’s something about this song that just gets me. The song just sounds so genuine and warm, it’s been on repeat for me for the past couple of days. Really good stuff from Nuala Honan.
PART 3 SONGS
Why Bonnie – Galveston
Public Library Commute - Across the Room (feat Forrest)
Rivers Ventura - Too Much (Slowed + Reverbed)
Glassio - If Love Is All It Takes
Sad Films - rewind ft zzzof
IMBER - Trance
PART 3 FACTS
Why Bonnie – Galveston
- Why Bonnie is a 5-piece band from Austin, Texas. The band is fronted by Blair Howerton. This new song is about her beginnings, growing up in East Texas.
- The song is called Galveston, named after the place she liked to go to. It is a place that she affectionately refers to as “the capital of ghosts and good memories.”
- This is the first new release since their EP “Voice Box”, which came out in April of last year, so I’m sure we can expect more new singles soon.
Public Library Commute - Across the Room (feat Forrest)
- Public Library Commute, or PLC for short is the moniker of Conrab Hsiang. He’s been in the game for a while, having a breakout year in 2018, when he was still studying Music Industry at Hamilton College.
- If you are wondering about his moniker, it was originally PLC. He said he thought that the Wu-Tang members RZA and GZA had really cool names and PLC was his version of it. It didn’t mean anything at first, but his younger brother joked that it stands of Public Library Commute and the name just kind of stuck ever since.
Rivers Ventura - Too Much (Slowed + Reverbed)
- That track is one of my favorites this week for sure. I’m definitely biased because I’m a big fan of the chopped and screwed that was big in the hip hop world many moons ago.
- The original, regular sounding, version of this song was released a couple of weeks back but this slowed and reverbed version is brand new and it has been on repeat for me.
- Not much info about Rivers. I checked out the bio on his website and it is hilarious. He didn’t change it at all, it’s basically the website builder instructions of what to write... like “this is a great space to write long text about your company and your services. Make your company stand out and show your visitors who you are.”
Glassio - If Love Is All It Takes
- I’m definitely a fan of Glassio, I think his music is really good. This new single though it a bit different from what I’ve come to expect. It is still all very well done but I feel like it has a much more “mainstream sound” to it.
- Anyway, Glassio is an Irish-Iranian indie dance artist who is currently based in New York.
- He says that this new track is an ode to the burnout he and many of his friends experienced at the end of last year.
Sad Films - rewind ft zzzof
- Sad Films is the moniker of indie artist Liam Mac, who hails from Minneapolis.
- He has a great catalogue of tracks but if you want to check them out, you’ll have to search for songs made by Liam Mac because he only started using the Sad Films moniker a few months ago.
- Anyway, I like the feel of this new one, and I think zzzof’s accompanying vocals really elevate the track. Very nice stuff from Sad Films.
IMBER – Trance
- IMBER is back on the show with a new tune. IMBER is the moniker of Ben Imber, a Bristol-based musician, producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
- The song is called Trance because it is about social media and how we are all entranced by it. He points out that although it is amazing that anyone can become an overnight celebrity with a viral post.
- He says that he too has tried to post things daily to try and get some attention but he realized that the whole process left him feeling disconnected with the present moment. I can definitely see where his is coming from for sure.

PART 4 SONGS
BAYNK - How Does It Feel feat Cosmos Midnight
House of EL - Something Special
Quiet Bison - The Tower (feat fio)
A Girl Called Frank – Usually
Sports – Can't Be What You Think
Abby Sage - Space for Me
PART 4 FACTS
BAYNK - How Does It Feel feat Cosmos Midnight
- BAYNK is a New Zealand-born, now London-based artist and “How Does It Feel” is his fifth release of 2021. The track features the vocal harmonies of Australian duo, Cosmos Midnight.
- This has definitely been a breakout year for BAYNK and he doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
- 3 months ago he released a single called Esther. That track blew up gaining over 4 million streams already and the track earned him his first plays on BBC Radio 1 and Apple Music 1. That track was also played on Elton John’s show, “Rocket Hour”. Very impressive achievements no doubt.
House of EL - Something Special
- House of EL is the alias of Kieron McIntosh, a Northampton based artist. He’s got a club ready style of production with touches of soul.
- This new track, something special also infuses a bit of jazz and funk. House of EL says that he made this song alongside Karma Kid and Thomas Seminar Ford. He says that they all just wanted to make a track with a lot of positive vibes, just something to make people feel good. I’d say mission accomplished on that front for sure.
Quiet Bison - The Tower (feat fio)
- I like this song as soon as a heard it. It’s got that UK Garage / dubstep sound that I have an affinity for.
- Quiet Bison is a producer from Portland. He debuted in 2018 and has been consistently releasing tracks every couple of months.
- This track features the vocals of Australian singer Fio. This song will appear on Quiet Bison’s long-awaited debut album. The album will be 32 tracks! And it will come via Ultra music this coming February.
A Girl Called Frank – Usually
- A Girl Called Frank is a Russian-born artist that grew up in Germany. She’s fairly new on the scene, just a couple singles so far but I’m really feeling this new one from her.
- The track is a nice blend of R&B, pop, and electronica and I think she has great vocals.
- She says that this song is about losing someone important in your life and all the confusing and depressing feelings that come along with that experience.
Sports - Cant Be What You Think
- Sports is back on the show with a shiny new tune. We’ve played them a number of times already and if you didn’t know, they are a duo from Oklahoma that makes incredible music.
- Their new track is catchy, funky, and very cleanly executed... Just high-quality stuff in my books for sure.
- I just noticed on their Spotify page that this are very close to reaching the 1 million monthly listeners mark, so congrats on that Sports!
Abby Sage - Space for Me
- As y’all probably already know, I usually go for a slow, steady, and soft landing to end of the playlist and tonight is no exception.
- Abby Sage is an artist originally from Toronto, and now she is living out in LA.
- Just this past Friday, she released her new EP entitled “Fears of Yours & Mine”. It is very solid with a definitely minimalist sort of style to it. If you like this kind of slow burning music, you should definitely check that EP out.
