Hi, thanks for tuning in to this Week's message at C3OC. We hope that it blesses you, equips you and fills you with faith. Let's dive in. Man. I love the Holy Spirit. You know, the Holy Spirit is a person, not a force, not a cloud, not some ominous thing that is floating about. No, it's the spirit of God all the way back to Genesis. He says that he was hovering over the deep and at his word he was sent. God has given you his word to proclaim over your life. It's not just a book to read or chapters to get through. Can I just. Let me say this before I dive into this six hour message is that I love Bible reading plans. Bible in a year. And I think that everyone should endeavor to go through this. But can I just speak practically for a moment here? I've seen people who do these and I have been caught in this same scenario where I miss five days because I'm not the best Christian every day, right? Oh, everyone was very serious looking at me. Okay, so you guys keep up with every day on your Bible plan, right? So you miss the days and it kind of starts collecting up and you're five days deep. Six days. Oh my gosh, it's 14 days. So one day I decide I'm going to read all 14 of those days and nothing sticks. It's a religious duty that has been created in your life to try and uphold. I got to do the Bible in a year and so I'm going to do this. But I'm telling you, take your time reading through the Bible. It's an incredible thing when you begin to notice the golden lion that all the way from the beginning the gospel was present, the story of Jesus was present. When you learn about, don't skip Leviticus, don't skip numbers. These are amazing books. You learn that every woman's going to say Amen because God is a detail orientated God. And as you see him say, it's this long and it's this high and it's this fabric. And don't you tell me that pipe and drape is not holy because it's written in the Bible, except it talks about golden pipe and drape. So we're a little behind. But here's what I'm saying is use this book as though it's living and active, not just words on a book to memorize and to know and to, to just get through this arduous task of reading from COVID to cover. No, no, no. Take your time. Let it Marinate into your life, not just be knowledge in the mind. Amen. Amen. Well, we are on the road to the resurrection. And as we are approaching that, I felt impressed upon this week to be reminded that you and I are the witnesses that God has sent, sent into the world to proclaim his good news. And a lot of the time we can cut ourselves out of this purpose. I'm telling you, if you're trying to discover your purpose in life and your calling in life, it begins here. That what God has given you and has deposited in you is not meant to be kept within you, but it is meant to be displayed. It is meant to be given. It is meant to move through you. Jesus calls you the light and the salt, and this world needs light and salt. Doesn't matter if you got saved last week, doesn't matter if you got saved 30 years ago and you've been diligently following it. Doesn't matter at what stage in your salvation trail, in your salvation path that you are. God has called you to be a witness. There are so many testimonies in the Bible. You think that the guy who was laying down on the mat, who was paralyzed at the bottom, had his theology all to a tee. Right. You think that all the disciples, when he called them from, from being fishermen and calling them in, that they had everything, you know, in order and all right, no, but what happened was, is there was a seed that was planted that Jesus had put in them, that God had put in them. The woman at the well in John 4 from Samaria, she was living in the midst of whatever she was living in with all these different men. And Jesus spoke to her and she went back to Samaria and started spreading the good news. And so for us to actually understand that, you and I have the most exciting news to tell people, I want you to regard the name of Jesus, the story of Jesus, this word, as good news. Like, sometimes we get confused that, oh, it's like, it's awkward news sometimes. It's, it's, it's tricky news. It's. It's such deep. It's good news for this world. It's good news for you and I to know, but it's even better news when it's proclaimed. Yes. And so God has called us to be a witness. And I believe God is looking down upon us as a church. And if you've been with us since the beginning of this year, you would hear the vision of this church is launching the 101st. We're going to be launching this outreach Ministry that is going to be taking the gospel to people. Because I believe that God had showed a vision that the harvest is ripe, but the harvest don't have feet. They're rooted in their ways. So he goes on, so pray for the laborers. For the laborers of few. Well, I want to be a part of the few. I know about you. I want to be a part of those who have feet and are ready to take the gospel to the harvest, bringing them into the house of God that they would find eternal life. Amen. So I believe God is looking down upon us as a people and saying, can I get a witness? Can I get a witness? Come on. Like, I. I know it's like the old preacher thing, but I think God is screaming down to his people, hey, man, I saved you. I delivered. I did not die for nothing. Can I get a witness? And it's his people that have to respond. And, man, it is difficult because here in this space, we just had worship and the sound system blew up. And so we're worshiping with just our voices, and the Holy Spirit turns up. But then we go out into the world and we start to live in a little bubble. And then it's kind of like God goes, can I get a witness? And you're like, oh, I don't know if I can be that. I'm here to remind you. You can be that. It's not by your strength, it's by the filling of the Holy Spirit. So I want to talk. And we'll get to five effective measures. For us to be a witness for God in this world, you and I have to come to the realization that we are not just living and breathing to get through our weeks. We're not just walking through our weeks, but you are a living, breathing testimony of God's goodness. His word that has come alive within you has to produce fruit which is within our works. There are works to the fruit that have been given to us, and we display that to the world. But it cannot end there. It cannot end there. That we live by an example. We have to proclaim the name of Jesus as the middle. Sometimes we can kind of act a little too covert in this world. Like, we're covert operators. And there's some great. An old preacher saying is the greatest message you can preach is that through your actions. And that is 100% true. But I also believe that we can just live covertly. And we're like, we're just good people. You know, we're kind people. We're kind of compassionate. And leave out the reason why we can be kind and compassionate, why we have a wider vision than just living and supplying for our own lives. But we also have been filled with. Filled with the love of Jesus. And whether you realize it or not, the world is not neutral. It is searching. It is searching. It is searching for truth, it is searching for peace. It is looking for sustenance, it is looking for power. It is looking for acceptance. It is looking for love. And we have been set up as the signpost that says, this is your way out of the counterfeit life. This is your way to the real thing, even better than the real thing. Some of you are too young, but our lives are set up as the signpost. And it even says that all the signs and wonders that we would see are but just a pointing a big finger pointing to a God that says, I love you, I love my people, and I want to vindicate my people. The reason you and I are called a witness is because the world is on trial. The world is on trial and we are waiting for the final verdict. And God is saying, can I call a witness to the stand to testify about the truth, about the freedom, about the liberation that I am? It's real easy to just palm it off and say, that person's the witness, not me. It's a gift. You know, my personality is not that much of a witness or it's just not. I'm just not that charismatic or I'm just not this way. It's not about personality. It's about the power of God that lives within you. In 2 Corinthians 5, 20 says, we are ambassadors for Christ. God making his appeal through us. God is making his appeal to the world through you and I, through Rep. He is making his appeal through Nancy and Jay Williams. He is making an appeal through the Neely family. He is making an appeal to this world that we need to understand. We are the ambassadors of his kingdom and we go out into our world as an ambassador so that we can appeal to people about Jesus Christ in the church, the gathered, the hungry, the faithful, the enduring people who have been redeemed by Christ. We have been given this investment within our lives, this investment from Christ that is living within us, that isn't meant to just remain in us, but it is meant to multiply. We talk through the parable of the talents. You have been given the talent of eternal life. You have been given the talent of the creating God that is living within you. Paul would say there is a deposit, a guarantee that has been put within you and Jesus, God, as he was looking up, see, listen, we love our investment strategies, right? We want to spread it even. We're going to spread across sectors we want in the dream world, we want real estate and we want our stock portfolio and we want to cover this sector and that sector. So we hedge our bets in life, right? We don't want to put all our eggs in one basket. Well, guess what? God put all his eggs in one basket. He said, my church is that which will bring forth the kingdom of God. The church is you and I gathered here today. And so when God is saying, can I get a witness? We need to respond as the church. Yes, you can. Here I am, Father. Send me. I will go. You and I represent Christ. You may think in a self brand world that we got to build up our own brand, but I'm telling you, Jesus, and I'll just say this, Jesus is not a branding strategy for your life, right? Sometimes on Instagram, I'll see child of God and then provocative pictures in their Instagram profile. It's not a representation of Christ. Change the way that you were living. You're saying I'm a child of God. Then stand as light. The light of God that is shining, shining through. But we have to, because our hearts have been branded with Christ. You got to understand this. Branded with Christ. And so we have to get what is in here. Actually believe it and understand it. And know that this is the greatest gift that you can provide for anyone in your world. Can I get a witness? Can I get a witness? God is saying, can I get a witness in this church? Can I get a witness within Orange County? Can I get a witness in your workplace? And like I said, the good news is you don't have to do this alone. Acts 1:8. And I speak this scripture a lot. These are the last words of Christ that he is saying to his disciples. He says, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. This, this is the backup to our Great Commission. Okay? So we've got the Great Commission. He says, go and be filled with the Holy Spirit, okay? And we all agree we want to be filled with the Holy Spirit, right? But why? Why do we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit? And you will be my witnesses. This is the outpouring. This is the fruit that is designed to grow up within us because of the Holy Spirit. Yes, he's a helper. Yes, he's A counselor? Yes. He's a healer? Yes. He brings discernment and wisdom within our life. All for the purpose that you would be set up as a witness to Jesus Christ. You can be his witness. The one thing we have to understand is that you are not the defendant. You are the witness. Too many Christians live like they're on trial. They live their whole life like they are on trial. But the Bible tells us Christ has already been judged on your behalf and vindicated. Amen. The world is what's under judgment, and we are called to testify the truth before that final verdict is read aloud. That's a heavy mission for us, Right? We need to have the Spirit of God in our lives so that it is not by our strength that we carry out the Great Commission. It is not by our might that we go and make disciples, but it is by the Spirit of God that is at work within us. He has called us to testify that truth before the final verdict has been finalized. In Acts 10:42, he says, and he commanded us to preach to the people and testify that he is the one appointed by God to be the judge of the living and the dead. To him, all prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name. That's the good news of the gospel. It's as simple as that. That is the good news. The debt that no one can pay has already been paid. You just need to confess it and believe it in your heart and align your life with living for Christ. This is the message that we are bringing to the world, is good news. We his people, his church, we are announcing who Jesus is, what he has done, and what the verdict will be. What does a witness actually do? Well, a witness, they testify to what they have seen and experienced and boldly proclaim what they know. So what is it that you have seen and experienced in coming to Christ? What is it? Maybe it's going back, man. One of the letters to the seven churches in Revelation, he says, man, there's one thing I have against you. You have strayed from your first love. Come back to your first love, and we forget about the power of salvation. Isaiah would this with joy draw upon the wells of your salvation. You need more joy in your life, man. Go to the depths of salvation. If it's just that my sins are forgiven and I got my golden ticket to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory in heaven, then we need to get a deeper understanding of the work that was actually completed at the cross. It is so deep, the love that was displayed to the depths of that which he worked. That we, when we actually understand that it's the buckets of joy that we need in our life, they draw upon those wells of salvation. In 1 John 1:1:3, it says this. That which is from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and touched with our hands concerning the word of life. That's Jesus. The life was made manifest. Jesus again. And we have seen it and testified to it and proclaimed to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was made manifest to us. That which we have seen and heard, we proclaim. To who? To you also. So that you may. That. So that you too may have fellowship with us. And indeed, our fellowship is with the Father and with Son. With his Son, Jesus Christ. Isn't that good news? And this displays that, hey, this. This incredible thing that happened. Oh, that I've seen and that I have heard and that I have felt and experienced in my life is not just for my little circle, just for my little Bob and Mary circle. No, no, no, no. It's got to turn outwards and see that it has a mission to proclaim to the world that is around us. You are a witness. Say that I am a witness. Come on now, with some gruff, yeah, come on, one more time. Come on, say it like an army. I am a witness. And that's what God is setting us up for, is that we would be a witness to this living word, man, to the love of Christ, that it would be displayed within our worlds. Amen. This is a matter of discipleship for you and I. Discipleship. It's funny, it's kind of turned into counsel. Discipleship takes action, and you have a portion of self discipleship in your life. Discipleship goes hand in hand with discipline. So if you're undisciplined, get disciplined and you will be discipled. Say it again. Say it again. Get disciplined and you will be discipled. Disciplined to the Word. And so this is a matter of discipleship for us. If you see yourself as a witness, then you start telling the truth about Jesus. You can't help yourself. And not only that, but you will live your life in alignment with your testimony. Sometimes we are scared to be a witness because the world will hold you to account of the standard you're supposed to live at. When you start speaking about Jesus, you realize, oh, man, I got to get my life in alignment with the testimony that I'm proclaiming. Not only that, but you will start to see that the harvest Is ripe. Billy Graham said this, and I love this. Evangelism is simply one beggar telling another where to find bread. Evangelism is simply one beggar telling another this is where the bread is. Oh, man, I prayed it in the morning. Give us this day our daily bread, man. I found the bread of life. And that's simply what the gospel is that we are to witness. Amen. I'm going to give us five things to be an effective witness. Are you ready? Number one. Live. Live loudly. The message. Live the message. Matthew 5:16 says, Let your light shine before others. Your life, the way you live it is your first testimony. Integrity, love, consistency, faithfulness. Give credibility to your words. The good news is, if you are impatient, the fruit of the spirit is patience. If you are not joyful, the fruit of the spirit is joy. If you don't feel compassionate, the fruit of the spirit is compassion, is kindness, is gentleness. If you don't have much self control, good news is the fruit of the spirit is self control. What do I mean by that? It's not a personality trait. It's a spiritual fruit. Within your life, you can lean on the spirit to have self control in your world. And when you begin to grow that in your decisions, you will feel strength starting to rise up within you. As disciples, we will be known by two things. By our fruit and our love for one another. That's what Jesus says, that you will know my disciples by their fruit and you will know my disciples by their love for one another. They will look on and see love for one another and know that you are my disciples. We have to live the message. Fighting for unity with one another. Yep, you are the witness in your workplace, your neighborhood, your friendships, your daily life. Get this. Your encounter with people out there in the world could be people's only taste of Jesus that they will ever have. They may never step their way into the house of God. But the way that you forgive, the way that you don't gossip, the way that you show love and compassion, the way that you come in as a servant and not an arrogant master, the way that you come in and pray for people, that could be someone's only taste of eternity. We got to understand that. This is why Paul says, arm yourself every day. And after you've done everything to fight, stand firm. Oh, man, I stand firm in the testimony that Jesus has given me. I stand firm in the freedom from my past addictions. Man, I want to praise God. And not just in my car by myself. I'll praise him by actually living out the call that he has set for us. When he says, can I get a witness? I'll be the first to say. Say, yes, Father. I will be your witness. You don't need a platform. You just need availability number two. Empowered by the Spirit. You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. It's not your personality. This is about power. I'm pleading with you to pray. I'm pleading with you to seek first the kingdom of God. I'm pleading with you to seek his face. Because living a life without the Spirit is not difficult. It's impossible. You need the Holy Spirit in your life. Be filled with the Spirit and you will live an empowered life. How do I get filled with the Spirit? You come to God in prayer. What did the 120 do in the upper room for 10 days before the Holy Spirit come? What did they do? They prayed. They prayed. They devoted themselves to prayer. Say, God, come, oh God, show us what to do next. You said you were going to send a Holy Spirit. Fill us with your Holy Spirit. Fill me. Empower me in my life. I feel weak in these areas. My words, they fail me sometimes. Put your words in my mouth. Holy Spirit, oh man, guide me. Give me discernment. What to say, when to say and how to say it. Fill me with your spirit. Father, there's too much of me. There's too much insecurity in here. There's too much pride. There's too much calendar in my life. Oh, fill me with your spirit that I would be empowered to carry out your work. Oh, fill me with your spirit that the light bulb would actually be in and attached to some kind of power and give light in this world. The disciples before the Spirit, they were hiding. They were afraid, they were distant. They were still casting lots. Some of us are still kind of gambling in life. But when the Holy Spirit came, that's the last time they cast lots when choosing their new disciple. Maybe they should have waited. I don't know. I didn't really hear much about the other disciple that they brought in. Maybe they should have waited for the Holy Spirit to start bringing discernment. But as soon as they were filled with the Spirit, they were bold, they were clear, they were unstoppable. They were not afraid of death. I mean, that's a very dramatic shift to them hiding away, Peter denying Christ, them all scattered. Doubting Thomas, man, I feel for doubting Thomas because that's how we remember him. Do you know what happened to doubting Thomas? He marched all the way from Jerusalem to India. And was the first to bring the gospel to India. Doubting Thomas. I would say spirit filled, faith filled. Thomas, Thomas, man, I want to be more like him. We claim him like, oh, doubting Thomas. Yeah, yeah. How. How often do I doubt, man? I need the Holy Spirit in my life to step out as though I'm on a mission to India to bring the gospel. Amen. You are not called to do this in your own strength. You are called to be filled with the power of God. Number three, Speak clearly about Jesus. This is so important. And there is salvation in no one else. For there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved. At some point, the witness has to open up their mouth. Not just live well, not just be kind, but speak out loud about Jesus. Our culture is comfortable talking about values, talking about the fruit of salvation, the fruit of the promises. But leaving out Jesus, we have to clearly speak the name of Jesus. There's no swear word when I say Muhammad. Oh, Buddha. No one ever does that. But there's power in the name of Jesus, which is why people will misuse it. And there's power in the name of Jesus. When you confess it, when you begin to speak, it actually binds together. He said, I bind together all the law into these commandments. You want your life bound together? Speak the name of Jesus. Speak it out loud. They displayed the early church. They displayed the fruit in their lives, but they spoke Jesus very, very clearly. They said, jesus is the only way. Jesus is the only one who saves. Jesus truly transforms, delivers, redeems, and sets free everyone's lives. Clarity is not unloving. Clarity is compassion. If we were to leave this room, right? I'm. Let's just call myself five eleven. Okay? Five eleven. That's what I claim. Five Eleven. And I'm Australian. Okay? But if we left this room and one of you said, I think he's a six, seven Indian man. Oh, six, seven. Oh, my God. I didn't even mean to do that. He's a really tall Indian man. And then someone else said, no, no, no, no, no, no. He was like 5, 2, and he was Filipino. Right? It'd be strange, right? And then these two got in an argument saying, no, no, no, he was this man. He was this man. No, he was this. And yet, here's what I think that we do with Jesus is that we go out and we proclaim what we think he is. That we think, oh, he's this kind of man. Or, no, no, he's not. He's this kind of man over here. But God said right at the beginning, he said it to Moses. He said, I am who I am. I am who I am. You want to know who Jesus is? It's right here. Don't shade over the confronting parts of this. I am who I am. When you have clarity about Jesus, you will speak about. About him, who he truly is. Clarity is preaching the Jesus of the Bible. You don't need a sermon. You just need to be willing to say, let me tell you who Jesus is and what he has done for me. Because we're not just called to reflect him. We're called to Name him number four. Share your story. John 9. 25 says this. Though I was blind, now I see. You don't need all the answers. You just need a story. The story that you have, don't overlook it. Don't diminish it. You have a story of encountering Christ. No polish. Doesn't have to be perfect, but certainly real. Don't add to it. Don't. That's not dramatic enough. I. I need to say that I was part of a Colombian drug ring and I ran billions of dollars of drugs to. For it to be a real good. Don't do that. But do that. God has given you a story. He has given you a pathway through this life that you have lived for a reason. Your story will speak to someone. That's right. That another story will never speak. Speak to. You should be intentional about working on your testimony, working on your witness. Every time there's a trial, you know, you said the witness is coming up, the lawyers sit down and they. And they ask them all the questions. They prepare them. Right. You see it? I don't know. I watch csi. So that's what they do in that, you know, and they're asking them all the questions. Prepare yourself for when you are set up as a witness for Christ. Here's three points to writing your testimony right. Where you were or how it was, what happened, and how it is now. What you were, what Jesus did, and who you are becoming. That's the three points. And don't spend 90% on how it was glorifying how much of a rebel you were. Spend most of the time on what you are becoming in Christ. So good. And then you got to speak it. And that's witnessing. That is your testimony. You don't have to explain everything. Just tell them what he's done. Because no one can argue with a changed life. No one can argue with what you've tasted in the presence of God. No one can argue that. And number five, be faithful. Ah, man, be faithful. First Corinthians 3. Six says this. I planted Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. Your role is to not force results, is to be faithful with every opportunity that he places in front of you. You don't save people. You point them to the Savior who saves people. You plan you water, but God brings the growth. The story in John 4: this. Oh man, this is so awesome. The Sumerian woman, she's at the well. And you could go back and go through all the details of it, but she's at the well. And. And the Jewish people hated the Sumerians. They hated them. And so there was a huge cut and divided. Jesus talks to this woman. He prophesies over her. He spent, speaks a word of knowledge and says, if you drink from the everlasting water, you will never thirst again. And she says, I have heard about the coming Messiah. And he says, I am he or he is who is speaking to you now. And she goes away and she runs all the way down Samaria. And she starts telling the people in Samaria, she says in John 4. 28. So the woman left her water jug, which is crazy. She went there to get water. She just left it all behind. And she ran away into town and said to people, come see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ? They went out of the town and they were coming to him. This woman was set up as a witness to the everlasting God. And she ran back and she's telling people, people, man had this experience with this man. It's incredible. You've got to come. Amen. This is the important element. She didn't say, come, come to me. No, she said, come to Christ. Come to Christ. I don't just want to have like a counseling conversation. And it has no end point. No, no, no, no. The end point is coming to Christ. It's experiencing him in his goodness. So. So this is the end of the story that we hear it. We hear it. And then we fast forward all the way to Acts 8. No, no news of Samaria. At that point, Philip, one of the apostles, he walks down to Samaria and there is a revival that happens. My belief is this, that there's one woman who had this one encounter. She didn't shut up. She stayed faithful to the moment she had with Jesus. She was walking around saying, did you. Did you not hear, man? I encountered the Messiah. I encountered the Savior. I encountered the God incarnate down here on earth who Was speaking to me and he said that there is a water that does not run dry. Oh, man, you know how you'd be so thirsty for this and hungry for that? Well, when you feed with him, when you dine with him, when you drink the water that he has, you have an everlasting flow that is coming through your life. I mean, have you not heard the good news that the Messiah has come? And I think she was running around so that when Philip came down, the harvest was right. You may plant a seed. This is why I say, don't force it. You may plant a seed that three years later is going to find its way full harvest. In the book of Mark, he talks. Jesus talks about Mark 4. He talks about this parable where he says the farmer sows, but he does not know how the seed grows. And that's the mystery. That is where we steward faith into every sow circumstance. You are a farmer with seed to plant. Don't keep it in the pocket. Know that God is saying, can I get a witness? And the response from you is, yes, let's stand to our feet here today. We want to be people who live it, who are spirit empowered, who speak Jesus, who share the testimony that you have, and who stay faithful. Amen. This maritime woman had no training, no title, no platform, just an encounter. And she went, I want to ask you, will you be a witness for Christ? Will you let the light that God has given you in Jesus, in his Holy Spirit that is stirring within you, Will you be a light to the dark world that is around us? Will you be souls in the places that are decaying and so desperately need the souls to preserve their lives, to preserve their souls with every eye closed here today. If you were saying, I want to be Jesus witness. I want you to raise your hands up high. Raise them both up high. I thank you, Jesus, that as we step out in faith, your spirit would fill each and every. Every hungry person here today. Thank you, Father. That that spirit of boldness, that spirit of peace, that spirit of esteem in the spirit would well up within us. I pray for divine opportunities this week. I pray for divine opportunities next week. I pray for divine opportunities this month. I pray for divine opportunities this year, Father. I pray for divine opportunities to be seen. God, oh God, open up our eyes. Excuse our laziness in the past when we were so busy and just running and trying to get on with it and couldn't stop there or felt scared or fearful. I thank you, Father, that you would open our eyes to every opportunity, that you would put your words in our mouths that God, even if we are standing like Paul says, I stood before you trembling that there was fear, but I still stood and proclaimed the name of Jesus, that God, we would stand in your strength, that we would stand in your favor and that your blessing would go before us. I thank you, Father, that each and every one of us, let's say this, I am your witness. Say it again. I am your witness. I thank you, Father, that you fill us with your spirit here today. We receive your power. In the mighty name of Jesus, we all said amen. Amen. Come on, lift up a shout of praise. Hey, thanks for tuning in. There's a bunch of different ways that we connect throughout the week, including Sunday mornings, and we would love to see you there. You can check out all the details@c3oc.com.
