We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.
What is up, everybody?
We are back and better than ever.
And today we're going to be a little
serious.
So when that lunch bell ring, yeah,
you know what to do.
Hit play, stay strong,
let the park carry you.
Clydesdale Cowboys, yeah,
we stay on track.
Midday Kings of the mic, yeah,
we always come back.
Lunch with the Clydesdale.
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we cover it all.
Midday motivation every time you press
call.
Lunch with the Clydesdale.
Cowboy bring the heat.
Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
Grab a plate, tune in now,
you part of the fam.
It's lunch time.
What's going on, everybody?
Fantastic.
I said a little bit serious.
Not a lot serious.
Just a little bit serious.
Hold on.
Let me get in my a little bit
serious mode.
Okay, good.
I'm going to start with this one.
I got my last couple of pieces of
pocket jerky and so I'm good to go
now.
But the other thing is my monitors that
I hear Corey through and do all that
stuff.
The cord for them is not super long.
So it hangs right about below my,
just below my hand.
And it's inevitable that every day I drop
my hands really quick and jerk for
my head because they're wraparound
monitors yep yeah it's not major sudden
movement it's a joy it's a joy um
i wanted to address this comment because i
actually had this conversation with my mom
last night uh jody says scott love this
show thanks for your daily commitment and
cory too i always laugh and feel the
stress leave my body when i listen
My mom said the same thing last night.
She goes,
your show is my stress release for the
day.
And it just makes my day go on.
And so when Jody said that,
I was like, it makes me like,
you know,
the tear ducts are starting to activate a
little bit.
It's so cool to hear those comments
because I'm having so much fun with this
show and
But post-games, our numbers are down,
right?
Our subscribers have dropped instead of
gained.
It's the first time we've really gone into
that thing.
But what I know is the people that
come here every day love this show,
and they join in with us,
and they participate, and they're engaged.
And I wouldn't trade that for all the
subscribers in the world.
No, we have a blast.
This is quite fun.
And I just love this group so much.
And it truly does get me through my
day.
My job is stressful,
and I may have said it once or
twice that I hate my job.
I know Vicki.
Why are you saying that?
Honestly,
I'm trying to think if there's any time
you brought it up,
and nothing comes to mind initially.
And it really does make it so I
can get through my day.
And it's because of all of you.
And I just want to thank you guys
so much for all of your support.
Vicki doesn't want us to stay serious too
long.
Real jerky.
Real good.
Right.
Oh, that is fantastic.
That is absolutely fantastic.
Oh, yes.
No, one hundred percent.
Thank you.
We wouldn't have much of a show without
y'all to just be me and Scott talking
to each other.
So which we would still probably do,
which we would still probably do one
hundred percent and just kind of hope for
the best.
But yeah, thank you.
We appreciate y'all more than y'all could
ever understand.
Daniel Arnson, you do matter to me.
oh lord yeah hundred percent uh that hoof
finger is terrifying it is nightmare fuel
it's absolutely nightmare view one hundred
percent uh terry i absolutely agree with
jody i watched yesterday's show last night
and i couldn't stop laughing
If it makes you feel any better, Terry,
neither could we.
We find ourselves fucking hilarious.
There was also a comment on the YouTube
that the person who said it said that
I laugh hearing you laugh, Scott,
because of that high-pitched chuckle thing
that I have.
When you go to almost wheezing?
Yeah, absolutely.
That's...
That's the good stuff right there.
That's when you know you hit it just
right.
When I can't catch my breath and Corey
has hit two more zingers out of the
park before I've even caught my breath on
the first one.
And then Vicky now is throwing in the
picture pages to go with everything.
Oh, don't start me on picture pages.
Shout out, Bill Cosby.
Shout out, Bill Cosby.
Yeah.
good night uh wayne short keep it
lighthearted and respecting the athletes
and i'll keep listening for as long as
you want to do it i have no
intentions of ever quitting no this is way
too much fun yeah i mean i can't
even imagine what i'll do when i'm retired
and i don't have to go to a
day job and i can just like hang
out and chill five percent picture pages
picture pages see what you did
Well, yesterday, Reading Rainbow,
best audience ever.
So true, so true, so true.
Absolutely.
I do actually have like,
and Mark Phillips says,
keep the nostalgia rolling.
We don't know any other way to do
it, Mark.
yeah i don't honestly i wouldn't know what
to do with myself if i didn't talk
about what happened when i was twelve
years old so it's fine moving right along
yeah i mean cory's always going to talk
about crappy eighties movies absolutely
it's just it just is what it is
my favorite crappy eighties movies which
of which there are plenty of which they
are planning um um
I don't even know what I was going
to say now.
I do actually have like a little bit
of a rundown in case we want to
actually talk about something
CrossFit-ish.
I don't know if you saw it,
but the Aussies plus a New Zealander
started their own boys podcast.
I did see that.
Well, I saw that it was a thing.
And from what I understand,
they came out swinging.
Uh, it was Bailey Martin.
Uh, yeah.
What's his name?
The, the podium winner.
Um, no, not Ricky.
Ricky is there.
Yes.
Ricky is there, but Jay Crouch,
Jay Crouch.
Oh, the recent Ricky.
Gotcha.
Gotcha.
Gotcha.
He started off the podium or the podcast.
Bailey said, Hey,
we've got a podium winner here.
And he goes, hold on one second.
You reach down,
grab the metal and put it around his
neck.
Hold on.
Let me put that right there.
I admire that level of commitment.
Good on them.
I would too.
Why not?
I think they're taking a page out of
our book.
I don't think they had a plan.
I don't think there's a rail.
I think it was a good first effort.
Dude, if it's Bailey, Ricky, and Jay,
they don't have a plan.
I'm going to tell you that right now.
Other than we should probably do a podcast
together because it's fun whenever we hang
out and goof off and just talk shit
to each other.
And they're like, cool,
what time do you want to do it?
Awesome, let's go ahead and do that.
I guarantee you that's probably the extent
of what their knowledge ran through.
One of the things they talked about is
should they swear on the podcast?
And Jay said, well,
you two can't pick up the words with
our accents, so I think we're safe.
so for australians dude just dropping
f-bombs and and whatever else it's it's
just part of their language like have you
ever heard australians just talk
I imagine, like, even in, I'm saying this,
obviously I'm not in corporate Australia,
but I feel like that happens in a
corporate meeting in Australia.
They just, and this effing blah, blah,
blah.
It just rolls right on through.
It's just a natural part of their speech.
Cowson CrossFit,
has anyone tried to listen at one and
a half speed?
I actually contemplated one point two five
and thought,
I'm already having a little bit of
difficulty at normal speed.
I probably can't because I would listen to
a lot of podcasts at one point two
five and one five.
I did not.
I didn't even I didn't even dive into
that deep end.
They are hard enough to understand when
you get going at normal speed.
The one thing I did take away from
this podcast is that Ricky got hurt before
the games again.
Mountain biking?
Skateboarding?
I think it was just increased volume
before the games.
Again, the accents make it hard to like,
because I was working while I was playing
too.
All I know is he was really worried
about the first event,
and I believe it was the shoulder again.
And the first event,
what it was going to do to his
shoulder.
he said it was very painful doing that
for the original hopper um and so uh
but he did he just gritted through it
and he figured f it i'm gonna just
keep going just gotta send it mate but
if you if you know ricky you're not
surprised he did that and two but it
does give an explanation as to why um
But they also did talk about that if
Jay would have waited for Hopper to finish
on the last event,
Ricky would have jumped Madaris in the
standings and earned more money.
And he said, I'm sitting there going, Jay,
don't hit the button.
Jay, don't hit the button.
Don't hit the button, mate.
Don't hit the button, mate.
Don't hit the button, mate.
It's fantastic.
That's amazing that they have enough
wherewithal to be on the floor and have
that thought go through their mind, right?
That, oh, wait,
if you just hang out for a second,
hang out for a second,
because I can make some more money if
you just hang out for a second.
I think it was a minor thought.
We don't follow plans.
We follow chaos and maybe some common
sense.
I like to think even in the chaos,
we have common sense.
I mean,
we preach common sense for damn sure,
and I don't always do stuff that involves
common sense, but that's on my own time.
That's not right here.
Brian Thompson asks where to find the
Aussie podcast.
It's called the BJR podcast,
and it's on YouTube.
Bailey J. Rickey.
Think of the way it went.
I think they went with anything,
literally any name possible,
and they just beat JL.
Just go beat JL.
Yeah, that's pretty much what it was.
That's fantastic.
I caught a little bit of Colton this
morning on Savan.
I think they're still going.
Yeah.
He did announce that he's going to be
on Team Proven.
Yeah.
I think Vicky just put a link to
the podcast in the chat.
And he said,
you can guess the other two men.
Shouldn't be that hard to do.
And Siobhan said, are they from Australia?
And Colton said, good guess.
So I think it's probably safe to assume
at this point that we have Ricky J
and Colton as the men on the proven
team.
If I were a betting man,
that's probably where I'd throw my money.
Yeah.
And I'd take the over.
Yeah.
A hundred percent.
Daniel Arnson says,
everybody's got a podcast.
I guess it's my turn.
And Omar says they should be the men
interrupted.
That would be a shot across the bow.
Right.
And it shouldn't be uninterrupted because
they talk over each other just like the
other boys do.
Let me tell you something from somebody
who talks a whole lot.
It's hard to not do when you're on
live, like to let somebody just...
I'll tell you, it is my deepest fear.
And I know I do it all the
time.
I've had this podcast for seven years.
I've had different co-hosts.
I've got a lot to say.
That's why I started doing this.
I feel like at the end of every
show, I go, damn,
I hope I didn't over-talk too much.
It's so easy to do.
It's easy to over-talk and it's
tricky to just go and just because because
now that i'm older like is the thought
gonna stay there long enough for me to
actually remember it when corey's done
talking i have so many times it happened
to me this morning um more than once
because especially while i'm working at
home because i'm i'll do some stuff and
i'll go do some stuff in the house
and whatnot and i'll stop and go what
was i about to do
what I was about to do.
And I've really reserved myself on the
Sunday show just to let the girls talk.
To me, I'm facilitating their show.
And if I have something to say in
the middle, I will.
But this show is ours.
Now, when I do it with the Glintons,
the sports show,
trying to get in with four people,
that's...
Yeah,
I've been on with them when we had
four or five all at the same time.
And I'm the same way.
I got a lot to say, right?
So especially you pull my string with
anything, I'm going to talk for a while.
And then somebody else will go to say
something and I'm stuck somewhere in
between.
It's a tricky balance.
It's a tricky balance.
Corey is short, easy to talk over.
It's not going to do at all.
John,
I have a ton to say and no
one to say it to.
That's why we love you in this chat,
John,
because you you definitely let us know
your opinion in this chat.
And we're here to listen.
The man has strong opinions and I'm OK
with that.
I am OK with that.
The other thing that Colton talked about,
which I actually videoed it on my phone
and sent it to Jamie,
was he talks about... It started off as...
why brent wasn't always successful as a
taller athlete now the taller athletes are
more successful and he explained it as
brent was the only tall athlete at the
time so when he was when there was
a bad tall event he was the only
one so he could fall all the way
to the twenty-seventh twenty-eighth
thirtieth
Now, if Dallin has a bad event,
there are ten other tall athletes,
and so your floor is much higher up
on the standings than it was when Brent
was there.
And then it got into the part where
I sent to Jamie,
which is that gymnastics –
volume and testing has not increased at
the same level as barbells and machines
and so like colton who is better at
the gymnastics and he's a smaller frame he
doesn't get the advantage on that because
a lot of times the gymnastics doesn't
matter in a workout anymore yeah or not
as much as it should for damn sure
and uh
your security camera's not working someone
coming in my driveway well and i have
absolutely no idea who it is and he
used the example of like it used to
be that a short guy could win a
thruster workout pretty easy but they've
made the barbell heavier and heavier to
where the bigger guys get the advantage
back because the weight is so heavy it's
wild how that works
oh that's my groceries that's why i had
a grocery delivery oh yeah i forgot i
ordered groceries i did prime example of
what we just talked about i did dude
i did that that happened this morning
because jennifer was like hey we need
whatever and i was like cool i'll just
do a grocery order because i'll be home
all day you know yes lord and it's
got the big check
Yes.
It has to have the big check.
Dude, that is amazing.
I got more tattoos than I actually do
now.
That's even better.
Yeah.
I was actually looking at adding to my
half sleeve to make it a full sleeve.
Somebody tagged,
somebody got tagged in an email company
thing.
Actual, this is to scale.
My head actually is that much bigger than
the rest of me.
If you've met me, you understand that.
there's an email company athlete got,
you know, if we, if we put,
if I put up a real and tag
them, like Brandon,
we'll go ahead and just, you know,
accept it or whatever.
And there was another guy did the same
thing.
And apparently we look alike and we do
like somebody tagged the dude and said,
Hey man, this dude looks just like you.
And I was like, it's you do said,
yeah, fewer tattoos, but definitely, uh,
definitely I could see the resemblance in
common.
And I said,
my tattoo budget has been slashed.
basically to nothing in the past ten
years.
Otherwise,
I would one hundred percent have more.
Yeah, when I had mine done,
the initial plan was to get a full
sleeve.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
I got to the end and ran out
of cash.
One hundred percent.
And now my wife's like,
you need to spend money on that.
All right.
Even though she has one.
what you're gonna say because she has one
little one and you can't get a full
sleep it's not like she has none it's
not like she has none and can say
you know stupid i've never spent money on
that because she does she has her
brother's name written on her wrist but
and uh that's so fun fact um that
is what i'm going to when i make
the games it's going to be my fundraiser
you'll have just instead of buying people
buy t-shirts you can buy figurines of me
nice
I just made that up.
I hope that's actually a thing.
I'm going to get Travis.
See if I can get Travis to help
me out with that.
I feel like he probably could make that
happen.
That may be out of his scope of
creativity.
Hey, man,
that dude's trying to make money, bro.
That dude's trying to make money.
There's not a whole lot he can't do.
I have nothing but faith in him.
I mean, he does backpacks.
He does sports bras, shorts.
He's not just T-shirts.
Yeah.
I've heard like the most comfortable
joggers you could ever buy.
That is an absolute fact.
That is an absolute fact.
I can't wait to try.
Yeah.
I got a pair of basically he took,
he took like the first joggers he ever
made and made shorts out of them.
And that's what I sleep in most nights.
Like, Oh my God, dude, they're so tall.
They're amazing.
What is it with CrossFit and tattoos?
I do want to jump to one thing
before we get in,
because I don't want to talk about it.
John George says something up here.
Yet the pyramid of CrossFit has not
changed, but our test for the fittest has.
Yeah.
And so I think that's where we start
getting the blur between the methodology
and the sport that we always talk about,
that there is becoming a disconnect
between
But it's not enough of a disconnect to
pull them apart.
Like the big question lately has been,
should CrossFit the sport sell?
It can't.
We've talked about that.
The open is the heart of both the
sport and it's the heart of the
methodology.
It's where the two things overlap.
And so they are like Siamese twins that
cannot be cut apart.
It's a Venn diagram.
I mean, it is, right?
Getting all professorial on us.
Yeah.
I love Venn diagrams.
One of my favorite things ever,
just because you can make them so silly
if you got the right ones.
It's a fitness instructor, a bank robber,
and something else.
It's like,
put your hands in the air is one
of them.
It's because all three people are like,
oh, somebody, a singer,
like a band or whatnot.
And the center thing says,
put your hands in the air.
But it's a Venn diagram because the open
is where those two things overlap.
It's the start of everybody's season,
whether or not you have a competitive
season or not.
It's your yearly fitness checkup, right?
It's all of those things.
So it would be incredibly difficult to do
it and still have it mean the same
thing, right?
To try to just sell off just the
games.
It's not going to happen.
Clock Cutter says, was the heart.
Well, I think so.
I understand what the clock's saying
there.
I would argue that the test is the
test,
no matter what it ends up at its
base, right?
It's a strength and conditioning program,
but we are building, you know,
we defined what fitness is, right?
We're capacity divided by capacity.
across broad time, excuse me,
across broad time and motor domains.
So the first three tests, yes.
Are they more cardio based or whatnot,
but that's what capacity is what we're
testing.
Right.
So in what the CAC is trying,
seems to be trying to do with making
all these suggestions is make it more like
the five week test used to be with
just a week, you know,
week break and then go immediately into
semifinals.
I really, really liked that idea.
or quarterfinals, excuse me, but I really,
really like that idea.
And with the CAC recommendation,
I think Ortega's dead on.
It's really not quarterfinals.
It's a four or five-week open with a
rest.
With a rest week.
And an intense last week.
Yes, because you're going to have,
you know, what,
four or five tests to be able to
knock out inside of a weekend.
I like it.
I really do like that idea.
Because I do think you need to test
multiple weeks.
If you're testing for the sport,
you need to test multiple workouts in a
weekend.
Yes.
Yeah,
because if you make it to an in-person
thing,
guess what you're going to have to do?
Multiple workouts in a weekend.
Period.
End of story.
So I really like,
and I hope it sticks.
I really do.
I hope they listen.
I think that would be,
especially as a master athlete,
I don't like...
Getting done with that and then wait a
month and then okay,
now let's do another thing and then wait
another month and okay,
now let's do another thing.
Or like this past year,
it wasn't even a month.
As soon as quarterfinals got done,
like you're trying,
you get your scores in.
They're trying to make it up.
And everybody was,
I don't want to say panicking,
but there was some hubbub about who was
going where and why is my invite not
coming and all this other stuff.
So if we get all of that first
part of it knocked out early,
it's going to be easier on the people
who are putting on these things to be
able to get their invites out because
it'll all be done.
Fake savant,
five weeks is too long for affiliate
owners,
so let's give them a week break between
week three and four.
It's more than that fake savant.
It is also that you can ramp up
the skill level with equipment that is
much smaller in scale at affiliates.
Affiliates don't have...
a ten GHD machines they don't have
multiple ropes that go to fifteen feet
they don't have multiple sets of rings we
got multiple sets of rings but our ropes
did not go to fifteen feet right so
when you go to quarter finals you and
you want to add those higher skill
movements it's too much to put on an
affiliate to have that that much equipment
to get that many people through
So you decrease the funnel and you allow
the affiliate to sustain itself with
enough equipment to support it.
And like at our gym,
the people who are actually going to do
quarterfinals,
like we mostly take care of ourselves,
right?
It's not an event when we do that.
Hey, look, I'm doing quarterfinals.
Cool.
When the workouts come out,
I have two plans in place.
I have a plan to do it at
the affiliate with whoever I need.
And then I have a plan to go
somewhere else if I need to go somewhere
else because I need to climb a rope.
And that's, that's done well in advance,
um, simply because I'm not,
there's nothing I could do.
Like we had,
I can't raise the ceiling and suddenly
make my rope go to like,
that's not going to be a thing.
I'm also not going to cheat.
So there's that.
And I don't think the number of people
at your average affiliate are super
interested in, you know,
if they make quarterfinals to actually do
them.
Like that's not necessarily a thing.
So given that week off,
I think it's really more for the athletes
at that point.
At least in my experience,
it has been because the amount of people
that's actually doing them at my affiliate
is pretty slim.
It's just the people who are actually
wanting to compete and looking to move
forward, see where they land.
So I will tell you, my former affiliate,
I was the head judge for the Open.
When it was five weeks,
it was brutal on us.
I'll bet.
Brutal.
We had close to two hundred people sign
up for the Open.
You try to get that many people.
through a weekend with people wanting to
do redos and all of that bullshit it
gets to be a lot on an affiliate
a lot i think everybody needs that break
for one week before they do that big
quarter final weekend yeah i also think
that the one week is plenty
And I would say you say seventy five
percent are excluded from the five week
open.
I would tell you of that seventy five
percent,
probably seventy five percent don't give a
shit.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
That's they're happy with the three week
and they're happy to be done.
They get their three weeks in that last
that last Friday night likes to get the
workout done.
Going about their they're going about
their lives.
Right.
It's fun for those three weeks.
And then you're done.
I remember the five week open.
My first three opens were five weeks.
It was a lot.
It was my first open.
We had two in one year.
That's when they tried to move it to
the fall.
So we had to open in February and
then we had another one.
And what was October?
You say they certainly give a shit now.
When we had two hundred people in our
open at the gym I was at,
seventy five percent of the people that
signed up didn't even understand what the
sport was,
didn't even understand what it led to and
didn't really didn't really care about how
many weeks it was.
They just wanted to hang out with the
community for a couple of weeks and have
a party.
You get started getting in the spring and
spring break and all of that stuff like.
you start losing people anyway.
Yeah.
I mean, we, this year we,
we assigned everybody in the gym, got it,
got to be on a team,
whether you want it to or not.
We did that.
That's why we got two hundred people.
And that's how, yeah,
that's how we got more people to sign
up like that.
And, you know,
you make teams and all of a sudden
it's a real competition to them because
it's not just you against you.
Like now, oh, I'm on this team.
Like I was a captain, bro.
I was gassing everybody up.
I don't care if you signed up for
the Open or not.
Like, let's go.
We are trying to win this thing.
And we did.
Well, but people were doing stuff.
People were going on vacation.
They weren't going to be here for this
one.
They were going to be here for that
one.
And it's okay.
Like, if you can, you can.
If you can't, you can't.
And they did not give a shit.
They gave a shit if they missed because
they felt like they were letting us down
on their people on their team.
Not because of, oh,
and I'm not going to make the games.
Like, that wasn't a thing.
Or even make quarterfinals.
Most of the people in my gym didn't
want to make quarterfinals.
They didn't want to have to do the
harder movements.
Now,
can we say the programming was right for
the quarterfinals?
I saw something from Daniel Arnson saying
it wasn't elevated this year.
I would contend it was a little bit
because wasn't there ring muscle-ups in
the quarters?
No, no.
Okay.
I thought bar went to online semis and
quarters had ring, but I could be wrong.
I'm not remembering all that stuff.
The hang squat clean,
double hang squat clean.
What I would contend is it's the vocal
minority that want the five week open.
Perfect.
And it's a nostalgia thing.
It's so much fun when you do.
Yeah, you might have.
But the people who are putting all that
shit together behind the scenes at the,
at the affiliates,
probably not because it's not just the
owner.
It's the owner.
It's the coaches.
It's the,
whoever you get to get to volunteer.
Yeah.
Ring was a no.
Okay.
There you go.
Um, um,
it's a lot it's a lot somebody who's
been a part of putting it on for
the past couple of years at the gym
putting on friday night lights and just
finding judges is the biggest pain in the
ass everybody wants the five week open but
yet nobody wants to come judge everybody
doing the five week open and then making
a decision to okay do we do we
still have five a.m classes do we let
people
do the workouts at five a.m or we
just try to push everybody to come in
the afternoon friday night lights like
that's a discussion every single year when
we had two hundred people man you had
to do it at every class yeah i
get that like you just don't have to
it was there was no option other than
every class became the open we don't have
two hundred people so like trying to
Which is another reason why we just split
everybody into teams and put everybody on
a team where they wanted to be or
not.
Because now, hey,
you get points if you show up for
Friday Night Lights.
Easiest solution in the whole world.
You get points for showing up.
You get points for spirit.
You get points for all of that.
Dude, it's fantastic.
We do program for Friday's workout.
Again,
you're excluding people who don't work out
on Fridays.
Not everybody's rest day is Thursday.
I know that everybody believes it is.
Universal rest day.
No, it's not.
I rode my bike eleven and a half
miles this morning.
Definitely not a rest day.
um pushing everybody to try to be part
you know almost forcing everybody's hand
and not everybody i mean because still
everybody's not participating but try to
force as many people's hand as possible to
be part of the community because when they
actually get to friday night lights they
have a good time yeah by making it
the class wad every time you're you're
taking out that big community aspect yeah
so come to friday nights
Come work out.
Come get cheered on.
Come get judged by your friends.
Come talk shit to the other team.
All of that's fun to do,
but you can't do that at noon with
your twelve people at noon when there's
going to be sixty five people at the
gym on Friday night.
The wild thing when I was at Polaris
was noon was when they kicked off open
workouts.
At noon on Friday is when it switched
over to everybody to the open.
And that was my class.
Before I had this lunch show,
I worked out at lunch.
All of the elite athletes did it at
noon on Friday.
So in my normal class,
I had to go up against Dan Bailey
and Christy Aramo-O'Connell.
Thank you.
And anybody visiting for the Arnold.
Actually, I would, I say, no, thank you.
That's not true.
I would,
I would very much like to line up
next to Christie and like all of those
people.
That's how I got yelled at by Sam
Briggs.
It's amazing how that works.
It's amazing how that works.
We, we have also done, you know, taking,
taking a spin on the,
the road versus boss thing and did,
you know, coach versus coach.
So I did that for a year or
two.
That was part of Friday Night Lights this
year.
We kicked it off with me versus Brent
for the first one.
It was somebody versus somebody for the
second one.
We need to do a comment here.
Trent,
you should be glad you don't have a
noon class because now you can join us.
Wish I had something to do other than
be here.
Thanks.
I thought you were a friend.
Okay.
I see how it is.
I had a noon class,
so I wasn't here.
I thought we was right here.
I really did.
I'm going to tell you something.
You don't want a noon class right now.
It is ninety five degrees outside.
She's in like the Miami area, right?
Like Fort Lauderdale, Coral Gables,
somewhere down in that Fort Lauderdale
area.
I don't know.
Where it's also a million degrees.
But at least they have an ocean breeze.
If we even had,
you could put an ocean across the street
from our gym right now.
And like, we only have one bay door,
right?
Our building is horseshoe shaped.
So there's one here and there's one here
and the back is just closed off.
So like,
You can have all the ocean breeze you
want if it's a hundred degrees,
especially in the back corner where I'm
usually working out.
We call it the hot corner.
It's miserable back there.
Yeah.
What I loved about Polaris is it had
like five bay doors.
I wish, dude.
I wish.
The place when I dropped in at Allen's
Place,
the Burpee Dude in Texas a couple weeks
ago,
He had one big one on one side
and two smaller ones on the other side.
One of the big-ass fans in the ceiling,
dude, and it was so nice.
We were in Houston on a Saturday at
nine o'clock in the morning.
It was an eighty-five,
eighty-seven degrees when we got there.
But as long as you're in the building,
it was actually pretty nice,
all things considered.
Oh,
she doesn't live near the ocean breeze,
so it's just hot.
And you don't want a noon class.
No, you don't want it in glass.
Because it's hotter.
Yeah.
Um... Don't take it.
Don't take it.
So that's a whole lot.
It's terrible here.
So when I lived in Tallahassee,
we were in the armpit of Florida.
And if you went to the Gulf,
it dropped ten degrees.
Yeah.
Like, it just did.
Um...
And so,
but when you're used to a hundred and
ten and you get a hundred,
it actually feels refreshing.
This is pretty nice.
Do I need a pair of mittens or
something?
Kind of chilly in here.
That's a hundred and five.
Yeah, I know,
but it was a hundred and fifteen.
So like, it's beautiful.
Lita says it's a lovely sixty degrees in
the UK at the moment.
Shanna says, I have a noon class.
Thank goodness I'm three hours behind.
And we love you for that, Shanna.
We have roll-up doors on one side of
the gym.
No AC, no breeze ever.
It's hell.
Heel on earth.
It's heel on earth.
It's heel wheel on earth.
We got a big-ass fan.
We have a giant...
you know,
like fan on wheels by the big bay
door in the front.
We have another one in the back.
There are exhaust fans up on the wall,
but mostly what they do is make noise.
Like I never, they don't,
every once in a while,
somebody who's coaching will go and throw
them on and they're super loud,
but I don't,
like they suck air out instead of actually
blowing it and creating a breeze.
So I don't, I don't get it.
Like I understand what they're supposed to
do, but when it was a,
welding shop or whatever it was before it
probably made a whole lot more sense
because you get the fumes out of there
but now it's pretty much they just make
noise and we got several other fans on
the others like on the weightlifting side
all about gay high or so i mean
it works i'll put it to you like
that like you know you can get in
there you just got to be which is
like this if you come close with vertice
and you're here anytime in the summertime
you are probably well hydrated because you
know what you're getting into
I did want to,
so back to Jay Burch's question,
what is it with CrossFit and tattoos?
It's a really simple answer.
Tattoos look better with muscles.
Tattoos look better with muscles.
What is the best way to grow muscles
other than HGH?
You still got to work out.
You can't just take HGHs.
I love how people say shit like that.
Oh, it's steroids.
Let me tell you something.
Even if I was on steroids,
I'd still have to work out.
CrossFit makes muscles.
Tattoos make muscles look better.
That's why tattoos are CrossFit.
I would say ninety percent of CrossFitters
love walking around and showing off their
bodies.
So they're going to do that.
They just have something drawn on it.

um forgot to take mine last night really
pissed at myself at four a.m yeah just
like um speaking of last night i went
ahead and watched lanterns last night okay
i watched the second time last night i'll
probably watch it again this afternoon
holy smokes it was good dude i enjoyed
the shit out of it really really did
So I told you Julie walked out twenty
minutes in.
So we watched the second time so she
could catch up.
She loves it until I started geeking out
about telling the history of the Green
Lantern Corps and why they were created
and what their jobs are and how Earth
got involved.
And she's like, love the show.
Don't need don't need the sidebar.
don't get down care all that you can
keep all that other shit i don't need
any of that yeah she goes because if
you keep doing that i'm done watching i
hope so yes fear yeah got it i
can't you can't i can't help myself like
when it comes to stuff like that if
i know stuff about stuff that i think
is cool and i'm geeking out on it
you are going to hear about it yeah
um
Yeah.
When I was in college, I read,
read comic books when I was in college
all the time.
Green Lantern was the one I subscribed to
and ran to the comic book shop to
get as it came out.
And so it is my favorite.
And the leaks of who is showing up
on this show later this season has me
really jazzed.
Really jazzed.
There's going to be a lot of characters
show up.
I'm pretty excited about it.
And Daniel Arnson...
Are you behind?
Yeah, he must be.
We're literally talking about it right
now.
Yeah.
And you get that true detective vibe to
it.
Yeah.
The first twenty minutes or so,
it is straight up.
It's like a murder mystery.
I love the fact that once the wheels
start coming off,
they come all the way off.
we go from zero to a hundred like
i i actually enjoyed that yeah it um
i watched a guy say like the cool
thing about it too is when like how
jordan has a stupid idea it it's a
stupid idea and it doesn't play out the
way he wants it to play out no
no her percent he's like are you trying
to get arrested so you can go and
integrate that dude he was like yeah
Are you spoiling this thing for people?
I am.
Don't listen to that.
Yes,
Sinestro is in a trailer or in a
look ahead or whatever you want to call
it.
Sinestro is going to be in it.
Yeah, that makes me... God,
I can't even tell you how excited that
Sinestro is in this.
The dude they got to play him looks
like this comic.
Yeah.
Fantastic.
you know i just i like how she
she just put him in the broom closet
she was like it's like i knew what
she was trying to do like i'm not
stupid uh that's marvel daniel or why we
cross different he's just spoilers he's
just spoilers um vicky sent me this thing
that uh sons of anarchy is doing a
spin-off of course they are with the lead
character
and i wrote back to her and said
i i couldn't i couldn't do it i
tried to watch it and it just didn't
suck me in like other shows do and
she she said uh quite the opposite she
was sucked right in and she must like
violence more than i do and i said
it's not the violence i like i don't
mind the violence
I don't mind the violence.
The violence is fine.
I don't know what it was.
I don't know if it was the acting.
It just didn't pull me in like other
shows have.
Charlie is her hall pass.
There you go.
That's not Scott putting that.
That's Vicky saying that.
Please make it very abundantly clear that
that was not me writing that.
also it's charlie hunting not that
charlotte used to be on this show yeah
let's go ahead and while we're while we're
getting that out there comments made by
doc no scott um i tr i like
i i got through season one i think
maybe two the other part is it it
actually is like the old-fashioned long
season
like to get through a season of sons
of anarchy it's like twenty episodes right
twenty twenty like it's it's a haul to
get through a season now these days like
you can get through a season in eight
ten episodes like you're done boom done
If I was a more patient man,
I probably would have done with what
lanterns was just wait.
It might catch up, you know,
get three or four,
at least let it get three or four
weeks in and just kind of get caught
up like that.
But I want to see it too bad.
It looked too good, dude.
Like I can tell you the other day,
the dude that's playing John Stewart,
John, I really, I really,
really liked that dude.
If you never seen it's on Netflix.
don't know it's a movie he's in and
i cannot think of the name of it
right now because i'm trying to mostly if
you're talking about that movie where he's
like an ex-military coming back that was a
god-awful movie you're out of your mind
that movie was fantastic i will go to
my grave fighting that one i watched it
and i my wife said what'd you think
and i said uh wasted two hours i
enjoyed it and also it had freaking uh
sunny crockett in it i mean come on
it did sunny crocker playing a sheriff did
did sunny did was don johnson ever
considered a good actor probably not he
just drove a cool car and wore cool
clothes two different cool cars while
we're talking about it we had one ferrari
we blew that one up and then we
got another ferrari
yeah because they're you know on a cop's
salary in south beach you can well they
were confiscated i saw like you can live
on a yacht apparently too that that part
okay yeah that part was a little on
the forefront for you youngins we're
talking about um miami vice miami vice
baby
It was Rebel Ridge, Mark Phillips.
Yes, Rebel Ridge.
And he said it was okay.
Yeah.
Thank you.
I enjoyed it.
I really didn't think it was a waste
of my time, but I was like, damn,
this is not a good movie.
There we go.
No, something came up on my phone.
Crocket and Tubbs.
Crocket and Tubbs.
And they'd show the scene where
Like they gave him the Testarossa.
And it was like him talking to Edward
James Olmos, his commander or whatever.
You know,
I've got to have something that you're not
going to believe.
Can't roll up in a unit.
Edward James Olmos,
the guy who taught math and then became
the chief of detectives.
It's how that works.
That's a pretty standard career path in
the eighties.
You go from math teacher to...
No?
You don't know too many math teachers that
ended up being the chief of detective?
No?
Not really?
I think it's probably just in Miami.
We do have some breaking news.
I don't know if you saw it.
Did you see it?
I did not.
Tristan Patrick didn't hate something.
Well, he's had time to think about it.
To be fair.
It wasn't the knee jerk first impression
reaction.
It wasn't the initial this came out.
Oh, that sucks.
I don't want to see that.
That's stupid.
Oh, I love Tristan.
I love Tristan.
Yeah.
Remember,
if you're not dogging on your friends,
you don't love them.
No, not at all.
Not at all.
I wouldn't.
I wouldn't.
I would not even.
I did get a text from Dan Church
yesterday saying he almost called me and
cussed me out because we were talking shit
about New Jersey and that's where he's
recently from.
I have only hated two things in my
life, Ohio State and the state of Ohio.
What the hell, dude?
The state never did you anything.
I can understand the Ohio State thing.
I get that.
But like the state of Ohio,
like a state did something to him.
Seems kind of.
This is why we can't have Jay Birch
around because he lets truth get in the
way of a good joke.
Oh, Birch.
He did play Jaime Escalante after Miami
Vice.
But it's not as fun to say he
went from chief of detectives to math
teacher.
It doesn't have the same humor.
No, because we've had those movies, right?
The substitute with, what's his name?
Where he's like, he's like, you know,
special forces,
frigging tier one operator guy.
And I'm going to substitute teacher this
high school.
Yep.
Yep.
We got the Teemu version of that while
I was in Houston, FYI.
We were sitting at the bar.
Yes, yes.
Is that Tom Barringer?
That is Tom Barringer, a.k.a.
Sniper,
in the forty-seven Sniper movies they made
after he made the first one.
The first sniper is fantastic.
It's a really good movie.
Tom Barrett was great in it.
And then they made like sixteen more after
that.
And it just was completely unnecessary
that somebody is Tom Barrett.
You should have been better with his
money.
Just bit to where he could have just
said, no, no, I'm not doing that.
I love what how Jordan says you don't
go to the movies.
They've made twenty three Harry Potter's.
That's fantastic.
That whole scene is outstanding.
It is.
I do want to say before we take
off today, Bailey, I have it,
and then the minute I go to say
it, it leaves me...
Mary Viglia is going to join us next
Wednesday because we had so much fun the
last time she was on.
We had to have some more fun.
Plus, she's done a Xenom,
and Xenom London happens next weekend.
Uh,
I get to meet her in person at
monster games and she is jacked.
Like it's silly.
It really, really is.
And, uh, she recognized me,
which I thought was pretty cool.
And she comes in a small package,
but she comes in a small package,
but she is absolutely jacked dude.
Like it's, um,
the whole arms are bigger than mine.
I mean, I'm not,
I'm not ashamed to say that.
Like she is absolutely jacked.
It's it's fun.
Every time it's Meroviglia.
Is that right?
Again,
my word association brain goes to the
second Matrix movie and the Merovingian.
It's not that.
It's not that.
I know what that is,
and it's not that.
I almost want to over-Italian it when I
go to say it,
even though I have it right in my
head.
It's easy to do.
Omar got his jazzy gear in the mail.
His son said he looked jack in that
T-shirt.
I'm trying to tell you.
It has superpowers.
We're not allowed to technically say that
because, you know,
advertising rules and all of that stuff.
But this shirt may provide superpowers and
create PRs.
And if you're Omar,
it may make you look jacked.
If anybody you want to look jacked to,
it's your son and or daughter.
One thousand percent.
My eight year old thinks I'm the strongest
person on the face of the planet.
Daniel Arnson,
the Clydesdale shirt allowed me to hit a
three fifty snatch.
There's no video because my phone died,
but it happened.
Well, if you were wearing the shirt,
I believe you.
Yeah.
That's perfectly logical.
Yep.
And you can get yours.
It's thirty two dollars.
That includes shipping in the United
States.
You can Venmo or cash at me in
the comments.
Just put your name,
your address and the size you want so
I can get you the right product to
the right place to the right person.
Jeffrey Birchfield,
Larry Young hit a four oh five.
sbd i think a strict bench you got
me that's an sbd is a new one
on me uh all i know sbd is
silent but deadly and i don't think i
don't think larry young farted i don't but
not maybe he did not was it four
to five oh squat bench deadlift
at four or five at all three tristan
probably hates the fact that we didn't
know that that's spd that's what he said
dude see four or five sbd silent but
deadly that's spd yeah they match except
for one's all caps and one's not i
didn't realize
If I'm carrying around four or five
pounds, I may shoot out of silent,
but deadly, especially on that squat.
I mean,
the deadlift is deadlift is one thing.
Deadlift is one thing.
Squat's one thing.
Not so much bench.
Not so much.
He benched four or five yesterday.
He did.
Dude, it's sick.
When you see a man with that many
plates on each side bench,
it's just freaking ridiculous.
Wednesday,
we had a three rep max for class
Wednesday and I'm coaching Wednesday
morning and we got to do his name.
His name is actually Thor.
His mama named him Thor.
It's not a nickname.
The dude's name is actually Thor and it
fits.
He is probably right at six, one,
something like that.
And he did, did three, eight,
five or four for three.
And it looked like,
And just the last time we had a
one rep max,
or one of the last times we did
a one rep max bench,
he did like four, fifteen or four, ten,
something ridiculous, right?
Four plus.
And I watched him do three, about three,
five for three right before then.
And I was like, okay,
let me pull out my camera so we
can put this on the socials, right?
Because it's going to be crazy.
He's like, don't record me.
I'm not going to hit it.
And I was like,
I think you'll be okay.
just watched you do three eighty five for
three like it was nothing i think you're
gonna be okay ridiculously i was spotting
a guy going for four and he and
his shoulder popped do you know the amount
of adrenaline that went through my body
trying to lift four oh five from a
hang position nope i told everybody he has
and he couldn't help
Yeah.
No,
because I'm pinned and showed without it.
I told everybody yesterday morning,
I said,
if anybody not named Thor needs a spot,
y'all let me know.
If that thing fails,
the most I can do is grab one
side of it and try to flip it
over and get it off of him.
But other than that,
I'm pretty well screwed.
When they did Regional Linda in twenty
eighteen and I was a judge,
one of our responsibilities was to spot
the bench and
And Rogue actually made a platform for us
to stand on.
So it would be almost a full deadlift.
Instead of a hang.
And much easier to re-rack.
It was pretty cool.
Yeah.
No, I told Thor directly.
I was like, dude, if you fail,
understand that.
I'm going to get it off of you
eventually.
But...
let's get on one side yeah you're gonna
have to get all the way out from
underneath it before i let it back down
before we can take the plates off like
that's the only thing that's gonna gonna
be able to work but it was fine
he did it like no big deal it's
watching somebody that strong do something
like that and make it look that casual
never loses its charm to me like it
never it never gets old every time i'm
seeing i'm like this is just absolutely
insane this makes no sense whatsoever i
think that's that's one thing that
frustrates me with larry is like he he
worries about what he doesn't have but man
what he does is freaking amazing it's
insane dude yes justin
I've had some strong ass people ask me
to spot them back squatting like four or
fifty.
Bro,
what do you expect for me to do
here?
What do you think of whether you're
standing back here?
Exactly.
What do you think is fixing to happen
if you fail?
I'm going to need you to learn how
to fucking fail properly on a back squat
where you can pop it and get out
from underneath it because I can't do
nothing with you.
I was like forty five years old when
I hit four eighty.
and there was nobody spotting me like if
i'm missing it's dump it yeah dumping i'm
getting out for money then we'll take the
plates off of it and re-rack it we
ain't re-racking them with it uh when your
bench press is heavy enough to generate
whip i'm not going to be able to
help you lift it yeah if you get
it on rack and the and it does
this i can't help you bro i'm a
pretty strong dude but if that happens
Nope, you own your own.
You own your own.
I was going to talk about the Xenon
guy, the owner, founder,
being on Sport of Fitness yesterday.
Sounds like they learned a lot in Texas.
London's going to be twice the size of
Texas.
And then their plan after they do Miami,
that's going to be it for this year.
And then next year,
they're going to repeat the three sites
again.
They said they're definitely adding in
Spain.
And trying to do a couple more.
And they're looking at a slow rollout of
this thing.
What a concept.
Yeah, I think every time that guy talks,
I have a little more confidence in what
Xenom's going to become.
And he hired Wilson to talk,
which was the greatest hire he could make.
One hundred percent.
with equipment they took the taylor swift
approach they bought all the now and now
it's in storage in different places so
they can get it to locations but
everything for europe is as oh as
pass-through customs oh good so it's all
over there and whenever they have europe
they can just move it to where they
need to that's got to be a uh
Like a relief or whatever you want to
call it to have that in the back
of your head.
Like all of this,
all of this part is done.
It's just done.
It's over there.
It's ready.
All we got to do is pull out
of storage, set it up, you know,
wipe it down, set it up,
get it ready to rock.
The funniest story was,
I guess there was a hammer in the
cargo compartment.
whatever thing.
And it wasn't documented as to its purpose
and what it was there for.
And it was holding up their equipment
because it was the one thing in the
cargo container that didn't,
that was not documented.
Of course not.
I mean, I get what they're trying to,
I mean,
customs is just trying to do their job,
but
It's a hammer.
It's hammer doing here.
Nothing really.
It's just kind of sitting there.
They don't, they're not animate objects.
It's just taking up space really.
And truly it's.
And if you need to know what the
use of a hammer is, uh,
give me back your man card.
Yeah.
A hundred percent.
I don't, that's, that's a,
you problem is a,
you problem at that point with that,
we've already lost our producer.
Yeah.
And I don't have much else to say,
but I'm just so glad you all could
be here today.
Thank you so much for all that you
do for us.
And we'll be back tomorrow with lunch with
the Clydesdale and cowboy.
You wouldn't wait to get to the editing
room to jazz me up.
I'm already jazzy.
Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
saddle.
Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
saddle.
Talking reps,
real life strength in the battle.
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we cover it all.
Midday motivation every time we press
call.
Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the
heat.
CrossFit, movies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
Grab a plate, chew
