OK Solberg:

I wanna again welcome you to The 405 Coffee Break. Guys, the weekend's coming and so is the 4th of July. Get your cup of coffee, glass iced tea, bottle of water. Let's see what's happening.

OK Solberg:

Spring wheat $5.40 a bushel. Down in Billings at PAYS, 20 head of pairs sold for $4,700 per pair. Not to be confused with prepare. And a 100lb fat lamb in Billings $3.35 on the top end. But guys, there's more, much more.

OK Solberg:

Like I said, tomorrow's the 4th of July. In God we trust in the land of the free and the home of the brave. You know, the 4th of July is much more than fireworks, hot dogs, and family picnics. It's America's birthday.

OK Solberg:

And did you realize it's the 250th anniversary of the day The Declaration of Independence was officially adopted by the 2nd Continental Congress on 07/04/1776, announcing to the world that 13 colonies had become a free and independent nation. Interestingly, congress actually voted for independence on July 2nd, but July 4th became the day history remembered because that is the date printed on the declaration itself.

OK Solberg:

And like the Bible reminds us in Galatians 5 verse 1, it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

OK Solberg:

Now while that verse speaks primarily of the spiritual freedom found in Jesus Christ, it also reminds us to value freedom wherever God has graciously allowed it to flourish. Speaking of celebration, Americans certainly know how to celebrate.

OK Solberg:

According to the American Pyrotechnics Association, consumers now spend approximately. Guys, and I didn't believe it. I checked it. I rechecked it, and they kept coming up with this figure.

OK Solberg:

Consumers now spend approximately 2,200,000,000, as in boy b, dollars each year on fireworks, with another 600,000,000 spent on professional displays. More than 285,000,000 pounds of fireworks are used annually across The United States. Now here's a few fascinating 4th of July facts.

OK Solberg:

Three US presidents, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and James Monroe all died on July 4. Jefferson and Adams even died on the very same day, 07/04/1826, exactly 50 years after declaration of independence. And now only 1 president was ever born on Independence Day, Calvin Coolidge, born 07/04/1872. Here's another surprise. Although many people picture the declaration being signed on July 4th, most historians agree that the majority of delegates signed the famous parchment nearly a month later on 08/02/1776.

OK Solberg:

President Calvin Coolidge once reflected on the meaning of Independence Day with these words, The principles of the declaration are principles of liberty, equality, human rights, and government by the consent of the governed. Those principles are as true today as they were when they were 1st proclaimed.

OK Solberg:

As we celebrate this 4th of July. make sure you enjoy the fireworks, cherish your family. Hallelujah. Think of those who have defended in sake of having our freedoms. And above all, guys, give thanks to God for every good gift comes from above.

OK Solberg:

We do live in the best country ever in the history of mankind. We have freedom. We can we have freedom of speech. We can drive all over the place. It is great. Freedom is never something to be taken granted taken for granted. It's something to protect, to appreciate, and to pass on to the next generation.

OK Solberg:

Happy Independence Day. 8 hours early. I wanted to be the 1st one to wish you happy 4th of July, and may God continue to bless America. Eat a hot dog for me and drive safely. See you on Monday.

OK Solberg:

So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
