Good morning. And you're listening to Morning with Kids That's right. You're listening to the Morning Praise with Kids Alive podcast where we share a thought, some giggles, and some time in prayer together. Let's check-in with Cara.
Speaker 2:Good morning, Sam. How are you?
Speaker 1:Morning, Cara. I'm good. How are you?
Speaker 2:I'm feeling good. Thank you. Good. Get ready because I'm about to tell you about a particularly cool issue of Kids Alive.
Speaker 1:Oh, okay.
Speaker 2:Yep. In this week's issue, we're featuring World Down Syndrome Day.
Speaker 1:Oh, amazing!
Speaker 2:People with Down syndrome can be treated unfairly, which is why Down syndrome Day is amazing. This takes place every year on the March 21, and it's a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the achievements of people with Down syndrome. I'm sure some of our listeners know someone who has Down syndrome or maybe they even have Down syndrome themselves. This year, the Kids Alive team have had a fab time watching videos of a CBeebies presenter called George Webster and checking out the work of a brilliant model called Ellie Goldstein. We've also loved discovering the electric eels.
Speaker 2:Now this is the first synchronized swimming team in The UK for people with Down syndrome. You have to check them out Sam. Have a look on YouTube, they're absolutely brilliant.
Speaker 1:Oh, will. Thank you.
Speaker 2:My family are big Strictly Come Dancing fans. We love it when we meet the new celebrities and see who they're partnered with. Last year, Ellie Goldstein was partnered with Vito, and we all loved seeing them dance. The most amazing thing about this pair was the joy they had on their faces when they were on the dance floor. Because Ellie has Down syndrome, some people might have thought that she would struggle to learn and remember all the moves.
Speaker 2:However, Ellie proved them all wrong. She was brilliant. Sometimes in life we might meet people who tell us that we can't do something. Maybe because we're too young, too old, too small, or not clever enough. Eli is a great example of the fact that we shouldn't let people like that stop us from doing something we love.
Speaker 2:God's made us perfectly, and with his help, we can achieve amazing things.
Speaker 1:Absolutely. Thanks, Cara. Now it's time for giggle in the middle. What's the most expensive type of fish? A goldfish.
Speaker 1:What kind of dog does a magician have? A labracadabra door. When a lemon is sick, what do you do? You give it lemonade. If you've got amazing jokes that you want to share, then send them to radio@salvationarmy.org.uk.
Speaker 1:For more information on how to subscribe to Kids Alive magazine, head to salvationist.org.uk/kidsalive. Right now, let's take some time to pray and thank god for all that he's done for us. Shall we pray? Thank you, god, for all that grows. Thank you for the sky's rainbows.
Speaker 1:Thank you for the stars that shine. Thank you for these friends of mine. Thank you for the moon and the sun. And thank you, God, for all that you've done. What are you thankful to God for?
Speaker 1:Dear God, thank you for creating us. Thank you that we are all unique. And help us to remember that we are perfect in your eyes and to always use our gifts and talents to show your love. Amen. Thanks for being with us this week on Morning Praise With Kids Live.
Speaker 1:Join us again next week on demand or at 9AM on Salvationist Radio, Sunday morning. All that's left for me to say is check out this week's edition of Kids Alive, and make sure you have an awesome week. See you later.
