Not to brag,

but I nailed the female podium at Mayhem

this weekend.

Just don't look at my trash picks on

the men's side.

What is going on, everybody?

We have Jamie sneaking in last minute.

Made it.

Because it is Sunday, Sunday,

Sunday night CrossFit talk.

And I didn't do that live tonight because

I got a new mixer.

Oh, good.

So that I won't duck out an hour

in.

Whew.

to the podcast tonight,

and I haven't quite figured out how to

load the sounds onto the buttons.

I spent way too much time figuring out

how just to get the mixer to work.

Well,

we'll be excited to not have you drop

out.

Yeah, yeah.

And this one has...

way cooler features when i figure them out

um to help with different things i just

i just have to figure it out but

what an epic weekend guys before we get

into that don't forget to like and

subscribe um we are well over three

thousand subscribers now and our way to

four k um but thank you so much

for everything uh

that you guys have done for us over

the last few years.

You guys are the best.

I know, Jamie,

you had big plans this weekend.

You were running back from Grand Rapids,

Michigan.

Yep.

Yeah,

we went for dinner for my nephew and

my son.

How was it?

It was good.

We went to that.

I think we went to the same place

last year.

And I think we talked about the,

it's the melting pot.

It's like the fondue bowls.

So it starts with like different cheeses

you can pick.

And then you can get different like.

sauce that like oils to cook in or

a grill um kind of like if anyone's

ever been to like a black rock like

that aspect of putting it on a hot

hot plate to cook or in a sauce

um and then and then you get like

the chocolate fondue for dessert it's it's

okay it's the kids really like it i

i think it's just a lot of work

i think it'd be fun if you didn't

have to cook your meat

Yeah.

I totally agree.

I think that the cheeses like that is

cool.

Dipping in like bread and stuff and the

different cheeses.

Um, and the dessert is fun, you know,

brings out strawberries, bananas,

cream puffs,

all kinds of stuff to dip in the

different chocolates.

Um, but the cooking,

the food is a bit of a pain.

Just bring me out a steak like,

and I can eat.

Yeah.

And I'll dip it in whatever.

Yeah.

Bring some sauces on the side.

Cool.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Agree.

Yeah,

every time there's been one here that's

been successful, it's burnt to the ground.

Really?

Really.

So they are dangerous, too,

because if those pots spill,

get a grease fire.

Yeah, I guess I can see that.

Yeah, the one just south of me,

near where you stayed for the Arnold,

it burnt to the ground.

Yikes.

So, yeah.

Um, we, we had a,

we had a quiet weekend because my

procedure is tomorrow morning.

And so, uh, just,

I have not slept well because of it.

Just trying to get through this weekend.

Hopefully tomorrow is the end of this

whole damn process.

And, uh,

we're back to being in rhythm tomorrow

morning.

It is first thing I have to be

there.

Six AM procedures at seven thirty AM.

Hopefully it works and I'm home by ten

AM.

I hope it works for you, too.

Yeah,

I hope it's going to finally get resolved.

So we tried to watch.

Well,

it's been it was a big sports weekend

like Saturday night.

I had the Mayhem Classic right into I

watched a little bit of WrestleMania.

I went right into the Penguins hockey game

and the Pirates were in extra innings

against the Rays.

And I'm watching it all.

On phone TV, little TV.

Yeah.

And Pirates lost, Penguins lost.

Dang.

But Mayhem was amazing.

Carolyn,

do you do anything other than watch

Mayhem?

Because you were texting like a mad woman

this week.

I was not even caught up.

I'm like, I can't follow.

I'm way behind.

At one point, I was working out,

and I was like,

I can't work out right now.

I'm going home to go watch Mayhem.

Who am I kidding?

I'm like half in my work, like just...

way too much on my phone I'm like

I'm cold now I'm leaving so I like

barely did anything on Saturday especially

when Gwen started like there was no going

back to my workouts I was just like

this on my phone and then just drove

home to go watch the rest and basically

said goodbye to my workouts for the day

Which I do sometimes.

I just kind of say whatever happens.

Watched a lot of Mayhem.

Watching playoff hockey too.

So my Canadians are on right now.

So you see me kind of glancing at

the back.

It's because I want to know if they're

taking the lead over the Tampa Bay

Lightning.

What else did I do this weekend?

A lot of work for school.

Just because I have four days that I'm

missing between Wednesday, Thursday,

Friday, and the following Monday.

So that's very, very stressful for me,

especially because I'm also coaching the

girls soccer team after school.

So I'm missing two of their games.

So it's like just getting a bunch of

things organized for the days that I'm

gone and organizing who's taking the team,

which players can be there,

can't be there, taxis, all that.

Cause the girls take taxis to the games.

Yeah.

We don't have like a school bus that

goes to like all the games.

So there's just like a lot of planning

and,

Stress.

We're missing school.

It is stressful.

We're going to get into what you two

are doing next weekend and have already

started doing today at the end of the

show.

But we got to get into Mayhem.

I have to say...

It's been a long time since I've been

able to sit down and watch an event

from wire to wire, all live,

all not letting it like get by and

come back and catch up.

It was too exciting to walk away from.

Well,

if I would have had like a plan

I had to do, I get it.

But I didn't this weekend.

We were preparing for tomorrow.

And so I did not miss a second

of the actual Mayhem broadcast.

It's a condensed schedule too.

And like every heat was important because

there's only two heats.

Even the heats of five were so exciting,

right?

Like Gwen, the heats of five were awesome.

Yeah.

Yeah.

That it made it very easy to watch

and you know,

you're watching for a few hours and then

you have like the morning cause it started

a little bit later.

So you still can do your things in

the morning, which is probably,

I would assume mayhem has a bunch of

workouts and things that they're getting

the members to do in the morning before

people are watching.

So that's why they allow that like big

gap where the competition starts,

I'm assuming.

But yeah, it was, it was awesome.

They do such a great job.

So I was watching the pieces of the

run on Friday through Instagram and all of

that,

and then I watched both post-production

mayhem versions of it,

which were basically a start to finish

with Rich and Angelo and Austin Maliolo

doing the commentary from start to finish.

I like those post-production recaps.

Those are really good.

And then you get up Saturday morning,

you get some stuff done,

and then you sit down for Gwen,

and that sucked you right in for the

whole weekend.

Because what Gwen did is the stuff I've

been preaching about that CrossFit gave

up.

CrossFit gave up the tension and the drama

and all of that stuff because we lost

that last event of the regional semifinal

where people had to lay it on the

line to make it in.

When was that in a condensed timeframe?

Do you let them go because you're not

ready or do you follow?

And how many people missed the ninth rep?

It was so many.

That's crazy.

Can you imagine if that would have been

the final event?

No,

I can't imagine that as a final event.

It would have been crazy.

Crazy.

I didn't know how it was going to

be because the only time I've ever done

it is for load.

Yeah.

Or time.

Same.

And to see it translate into for time

with...

You saw people walk up to the bar

and kick it with their foot and then

step back.

And like,

are they going to bait somebody in?

Are they not?

And then like Vicki said,

a Gabby's save on that last prep was

epic.

That made me go home.

Like I yelled and I was like,

I'm going home.

Like right after that, I was like,

I need to go watch all of this

on a big TV.

It was so good.

I couldn't believe she caught that.

I couldn't either.

That's crazy.

CJ,

I know what you're getting at because I

thought.

Me too.

As strict as they were with the re-grip

on the thighs,

it technically was a re-grip.

You were allowed to re-grip all you wanted

on your shoulders though.

Like you could have rested there and

re-gripped as much as you wanted.

But in the crease of your elbow?

Yeah.

I mean, but you're allowed to like,

once they let it,

I think the judge didn't know what to

do and you rather let the rep go

than call the no rep maybe.

Cause it was like,

maybe it's not something that they plan

for.

I am sure that is not in the

diagram or description of what should be

called a no rep.

No.

Right.

I watched, um,

it was a story today by, um, Raphael,

um, Alison's fiance.

Yeah.

oh you're talking about rafteran yeah yeah

um as a new name yeah yeah yeah

like he was saying that he didn't like

the test in terms of like,

he likes to test for the drama and

stuff, but not for like a fitness test.

And like when people miss,

he would have preferred like a certain

amount of burpees and then they continue

the reps versus starting back over at

zero.

What do you think about that?

Like a shuttle penalty or like you do

ten reps of the burpees.

Something to like really slow you down so

that like fitness kind of still prevails,

but you get a little bit of a

penalty versus people sitting around.

And I didn't

mind that I was like oh that's pretty

smart like like the biathlon right like

you had a penalty you didn't have to

wait until you got unbroken it was the

running penalty like would you have

preferred something like that to be

implemented I loved it as it was yeah

I would have liked that I don't

Like, ten bar-facing burpees.

Yeah.

Like, the thing is, to rest two,

three minutes and try again and make it

or not, like,

you were already out of it.

Yeah, I would have liked to seen.

And, like, it was, like,

almost not finishable if you failed,

right?

And, like, that's not fun.

But I think if you do a penalty,

then people don't go and try to go.

It has to be like a hard penalty.

It's got to be enough.

It can't be like I said,

ten bar face burpees.

It would have to be more than that.

Yeah.

We're like, you want to hold on.

I think you're giving up the drama aspect

of it.

CJ says that thirty six clean and jerks

would have been boring.

Fifteen twelve nine unbroken or one of the

most exciting events we've seen in years.

I agree.

Find ways to create twists that change the

stimulus or require an uncommon approach.

that nine was so important and it meant

so much that if you dropped it it

was devastating and that is what gives you

the drama of what we had and i

think lessening that drama i don't want

that that was just an interesting take

that he said on his story um but

i loved watching the event it was crazy

it was literally nuts

It was like the perfect weight that like,

that really made it interesting.

It wasn't,

you didn't have to just be strong,

like the strongest in the field.

You had someone like Rebecca who just was

very patient.

And she,

if she just finished the workout and just

took her time,

she ended up doing better than, you know,

six or seven other girls.

It had, you have to have good engine,

good grip and strength.

Like there was a lot of like things

that were important in that workout to

make it not just a,

like a one rep max i enjoyed it

it was fun yeah i again i am

all for the drama i am all for

um

the,

the Cole Sagers coming back on the last

event of regionals to make it to the

games.

I'm all for the, uh,

con porters having to sell out on the

last event to make the games.

And if you don't make it,

you go home.

Like it's all or nothing when it's all

or nothing.

It just means more.

I think I loved it so much because

it wasn't me.

Also, I was like, Oh,

this makes it better that I'm not in

the field stressing.

Cause I can't imagine as a competitor,

how stressful that event would be going

into it too.

Agree.

Cause you can feel real confident,

but then you get to, you know,

rep six, seven.

You're like, Oh boy,

I don't know about this next one.

I'm interesting to see the magic city that

has semi Gwen.

Are they going for load or are they

going to have a specific per time?

Because they announced Gwen as well.

If I watched this weekend,

I wouldn't change it a bit.

I mean,

I think you should prescribe the weights

and it should be for time.

Like, just make it reasonable weights.

They need to be better about programming

for each age group.

Vicki brings up that Colton mentioned,

athletes don't train touch and go as often

anymore in volume.

And that hurt them in this workout.

everything is a strategy to get the most

efficient way to from point a to point

b and just making it unbroken made it

different yeah because it's not the best

way that you would do those it would

be the slowest way um have you ever

done gwen you've never done it i don't

i don't know i don't think so i've

done a lot of benchmark workouts but i

don't remember doing gwen

Have you done it?

Yeah, I've done it twice.

Um,

I did it at the games in the

spectator arena.

Um, probably like.

I don't know,

or when I went to watch.

Um, and then I did it again.

I was dropping in at a gym and

did it in Florida for weight.

I mean,

I feel like I always did it for

weight and time, but like,

Yeah, I mean,

I probably took like three minutes in

between my, in between.

How do you calculate that in a competition

if you do it for load?

And people have different,

like how would Magic City,

is there a formula?

Somebody did say there's some formula.

I would be,

you'd have to get Tyler Watkins on it

or something.

So when I did it in a local

comp,

you could change the load after each set.

Oh, no.

So.

And it added more strategy to it.

But like you could have somebody do one

twenty five and finish in eight minutes

and somebody choose one oh five and finish

in four minutes.

Where's the like there has to there has

to be.

It was weight, total weight,

not the time was not relevant.

There was just a cap.

OK, yeah, I don't like that at all.

Well,

you wouldn't because you don't like

weight.

I liked it and I won it.

Well, then, I mean,

you're just doing a one rep at that

point.

There's got to be a time.

There was a time cap to that.

It's basically think about the eight

minute time cap,

but you can take your sweet time.

You're not rushed.

There's not a third.

Doesn't matter about the buzzer.

You just have to do it unbroken for

your load.

The only time you can change weight is

after the fifteen and after the twelve.

That's just silly.

You pick a weight.

It was a great event.

You weren't there.

I won it.

I loved it.

But I knew going into the nine,

I had to push the weight to get

to a point where I was going to

win.

And it was outside my comfort zone.

Like I looked around,

I saw what other people were putting on.

I did the quick math and then I

had to hang on.

How much did you do?

It was ten years ago.

I started high and brought it down.

But I don't remember.

I'm going to have to be a member

again.

I like weight, Larry,

but I also understand CrossFit is running

a business and they have to do it

differently than my love.

Because I would not do it for load

in a competition at this level.

But at a local comp, it was fun.

They weren't trying to find the fittest at

the Troy throwdown in Troy, Ohio.

We were just there to have fun.

But at this level,

they're trying to find the fittest.

Time was a much better solution.

Let's start with the run was brutal.

Yeah, that looked awful.

Jamie, you're a runner.

Would you have loved that run?

Oh, it would have hurt so bad.

Hills suck.

I mean, yeah,

it would have been a good event.

I like that there's the break of the

burpees in the middle to break it up.

It makes it that it's not so like,

because in a six event weekend,

if you have just a monostructural running

event, five K, like on a flat,

like you're giving away points to just the

cardio.

If you're not going to do a weightlifting

or gymnastics.

So I liked that they added the burpees

to just even it up a little bit.

So if you have some good runners or

like not as good of runners,

but you can make up a little bit

of time on the burpees that played a

factor too.

It was wild to see how many people

walked.

I mean, even Haley.

Yeah.

You know, like, I mean,

I think everyone except for Jeff and maybe

Roman walked and Emily,

I guess we don't know if she ever,

I doubt she did, but I like,

I feel like everyone else walked.

i think after watching the full version

from mayhem that destroyed haley i agree

that's what i said to you she she

looked much more wrecked than like emily

finished and was just like could have

turned around and gone back through that

like i think she stayed i think she

stayed where she needed to stay and did

what she needed to do to take second

it wasn't worth pushing um

Yeah,

I think that hurt her for Gwen a

little bit.

Maybe she just needed to rest twenty

seconds more and she would have had that

set.

I don't know.

But yeah,

when you've kind of sent it on day

one, it's tough.

There were such big gaps between athletes.

I was surprised not more people just

slowed down and mailed it in.

Agreed.

If you didn't have to go into a

foot race, I don't know,

maybe I would just slow down.

I'd be like, oh,

I can walk a little bit.

Although I'd be at the back.

Gracia says,

I don't think Emily walked because she

said something about considering trying to

catch Haley when she saw her walking.

You could see her in the back end.

I thought that maybe she was thinking that

I think fortunately she didn't,

didn't push left a little bit in the

tank.

I don't know.

Yeah.

On the men's side,

Jeff ran the perfect race,

caught Austin past Austin.

And that pass was pretty quick.

Yeah, he was just kind of going there.

The amount of times Austin looked back and

at one point like he looked back and

they just kind of were like face to

face almost.

Oh man,

I would hate that if I'm just like

looking back and I can just see that

athlete is chipping away.

Now all of a sudden you turn back

and they're there and you're like,

damn it.

Just pass me on.

Just get it over with.

Well,

you know Jeff is famous for sometimes

trash talking on runs.

Do you think he was talking to Austin

as he's running up the hill behind him?

No, I don't think he did.

There's a big echo on Jamie and Carolyn

Happen.

Could be the new mixer.

I'll try some stuff.

Yeah, I've heard it a couple times, too.

I think she ran a perfect race, though,

Jeff.

Jeff did.

Jeff knew exactly what he was doing.

He just let Austin set the pace,

and it was probably an easy pace for

Jeff, and he's like,

I'll just catch him at the end.

And honestly,

maybe he learned from that games event,

and he was like,

and if I don't catch him,

I don't catch him.

I take second.

But the fact that he started walking,

he was like, oh,

this is going to be an easy catch.

Can't hear Scott.

So Larry says, oh, shit, there he is.

Yeah.

Yeah,

that's probably what went through Austin's

head.

He just kept looking back so often.

If you're an athlete and you see the

athlete in front of you just look back

constantly, what goes through your mind?

If you're the one chasing.

Yeah, you're like, I got him.

He's done.

Larry,

we're not an hour in and it's a

new mixer.

I shouldn't drop off.

But we're probably going to have to work

through some technical stuff.

Yeah.

Yeah, you know they're almost dying.

Exactly.

So we hit Gwen pretty good.

Then after that was the midline one,

right?

No, the muscle-up with the squats.

Yeah, the thirties.

The thirty-thirty-thirties.

Which the standard on the squat was not...

Yeah, what a shisho.

Even,

because I've heard a lot of athletes say

the one hand here... Not on your back?

Not on your back.

We see a lot of athletes holding it,

both hands on the back.

Both shoulders have contact with the

sandbag.

So I don't know if that was all

the appeals that was going on,

but I don't know what you do at

that point.

If you did your whole workout one way,

like...

I don't know how you can appeal that.

I didn't see anything really with the ring

muscle-ups.

Did you see any big no reps that

people were getting?

I wasn't really looking for it.

I don't even think they called a single

no.

Even if there was some that looked like

they possibly could have been

questionable,

I don't know that anyone got a no

rep on a ring muscle-up.

Yeah,

I didn't really pay attention to whether a

lot of the girls push out to the

side as they extend or away.

I didn't look to see if there was

anything major.

It looked pretty good.

The squats.

I don't know.

There's some people you know up there.

Tiago loses.

He was pushing away.

Yeah,

I saw a couple no rep on sandbag

squats for depth,

and it's like there's plenty of others

that didn't get called that I feel like

had worse depth.

So that's got to be super frustrating as

an athlete out there.

I did see a couple on bar muscle-ups,

and Charger says that Gabby got a no

rep on a bar muscle-up.

So I'm sure that they were calling

something if they saw it.

But yeah, the sandbag squat,

what a shit show.

If the rule was one shoulder only,

it was so inconsistent.

And that makes a big difference.

Yeah.

So like how you can hold it here

versus all the way.

It can like fire up your back a

little bit more when it's more loaded on

one side.

When supposedly it was...

they wanted it on one side because it

was going to be easier to open the

hips at the time.

Correct.

If it's on your back,

you're going to be hunched over because

it's on your back.

So you're never actually going to like

stand up.

I don't know.

It's a tough one.

Fergie thinks the broadcast crew was top

tier should be doing the games.

I had little issues with it, but I'll,

I'll save those for after we're done with

the events.

Vicki said her husband doesn't do

CrossFit,

and even he was calling no reps for

depth.

Yeah, there were some questionable ones.

So then after this one,

we went to the midline,

and there were a lot of toes to

bar no reps.

I feel like there should have been some

more called.

So the biggest controversy,

I don't know if you guys saw Jenny

this morning,

Apparently Jeff got no rep on a toes

to bar, came down, went back up,

hit the toes to bar.

It was questionable whether he finished

his one hundredth rep at the very end

of round three or not.

If you slow it down,

you can tell it was just after.

Yeah, that's a huge expectation.

Unreasonable expectation.

Yeah.

to expect a live judge to see that

walk foot everything at once agree i and

sometimes the announcers can be like three

two one and like it's actually like it's

sometimes they're a little off i'm like

that's not three seconds like three two

like they're a little off sometimes um

I did when it happened like I saw

that it was close and I thought I

thought he missed it I totally thought he

missed it and I was like oh okay

he must have got it I think he

did an extra rep it's like well I

thought because I saw him go down a

couple times in the background but that

makes sense if it was slowed down yeah

I for sure was like uh he didn't

get that and then I saw him I

was like he got away with something there

so that's interesting to hear that that

was the controversy on the floor there

So T-Bird says,

I slowed it down and thought he was

touching the bar right at eleven.

But if you have to slow it down

to get that,

like if you watch the NFL often,

the play clock oftentimes hits zero.

Then the umpire turns to see if the

ball has been snapped.

And at that point,

you're giving an extra half to a full

second.

Your eyes can't be in two places at

one time.

So,

and I don't know if you as a

judge are supposed to trust the buzzer

alone.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It's a tough one.

I honestly, maybe that should have been,

I understand you,

you just want the work to be done.

I understand the call with that,

but you almost need to just make it.

You have to get to the pylon in

time.

And if you don't, I'm sorry.

Sucks.

They got halfway there.

You got to do the buy-in and get

there first.

I don't, I like it.

Um, Larry says, Ty goes to the tower.

Okay.

Yeah.

And I mean, you can't,

you're not supposed to slow down videos

like in online judging and people do it

all the time,

but you're not technically supposed to do

that.

You should see it at full speed and

then determine.

And then, I mean,

that's why we compete in person,

like the call in the field stands and

sometimes it's good calls and sometimes

it's bad calls,

but at least when you're in person,

you can

fix it but so what was the result

that they just they just left it call

on the floor they gave him the time

he got correct okay correct but I know

like Saxon didn't get the one hundredth

rip he got ninety nine had to do

another round of all of the stuff before

he could do the one toes to bar

and run down the field

So, you know,

you're going to have those calls and I'm

okay with those.

I'm not okay with sandbag on the back,

sandbag on the shoulder.

The rules are rule.

Let's and AFJ was there.

Come on, clean this up.

You're supposed to be briefed.

All of your judges are supposed to be

briefed.

You supposed to have head judges that make

sure that happens.

Kind of like wish,

kind of wish Jeff would let that big

personality out a smidge more.

It's so funny you say that, Larry,

because I've had people tell me they wish

he wouldn't.

Yeah, which is weird.

Like you love it from some people and

you don't like it from others.

And I can't quite figure that out.

I love Jeff Adler.

I've loved Jeff Adler for a very long

time.

I picked him to win the games in

twenty twenty three before the season even

started.

Yep.

I have been a huge Jeff fan.

I think he's awesome.

I think he's great for the sport.

And when you hear people like Colton say,

there's nothing he's bad at.

Him saying that means that dude's awesome

and we do not appreciate him for what

he can do.

And soon he's going to be gone.

Yeah.

He keeps saying that.

He's getting old.

He's acknowledging... The thing is,

I think he does...

People think he's a bit... I mean,

he's French, right?

He's a little...

He's just got a different...

He's Canadian.

French-Canadian.

Okay.

Well, he's just got a different humor.

He can be a little...

literal i guess i don't know but to

me i i catch senses of humbleness from

jeff and everyone else just thinks he's i

don't know they're just like i don't like

him he's rude he's pompous i don't i

mean he acknowledges the field is coming

I think he has very good self-awareness of

where he stands in workouts,

what his strengths and weaknesses are,

whether he performed well or not to his

expectations.

I think he's very honest with where he

is.

He knows machines.

He's not matching some of the bigger guys.

There's a few other things that he's not

as fast on.

Notably,

normally handstand walk or push up.

I think it's handstand walk, maybe.

But I don't know.

Fergie says he likes to jacuzzi.

Yes, he does.

That was peak Jeff time.

I loved those interviews.

I thought Bella did awesome this weekend.

And we're going to get into the broadcast

in a second.

So then we come down to the final

two events today.

I did not see what happened in event

five happening.

Oh, I didn't even see event five.

You guys were talking and I was driving.

So like I,

the shakeup that that event gave to the

entire weekend on both the men and women's

side, I didn't,

I did not see that coming.

And to me that says that means it

was a pretty well-programmed weekend.

when you can't predict stuff like that.

There were a lot of misses on the

handstand walk obstacle course,

like that implement really impacted that

workout.

Um, a lot.

Was there something wrong with lane seven?

No.

What happened with lane seven?

Apparently everyone like had a problem in

lane seven.

Like, no, they're,

How would there be a problem in Lansing?

I don't know that, that.

Like the obstacle course is a little bit

like one.

Interesting.

No,

it's just that Colton and Lucy didn't have

a good event.

I don't think it was just them.

There was only four heats.

Okay.

Well, I,

I think three out of four people had

like complete meltdowns in that lane.

I did not expect.

It was a coincidence.

See,

like when Colton was in third at the

beginning of the day,

I didn't expect him to drop today with

the two workouts that were there.

Yeah.

I thought, okay,

maybe he's not as fast rope climbing.

Maybe he's not as fast on his hand

because he's like a smaller athlete.

But he'll make up some time on his

transition.

He'll be aggressive.

He'll front squat like no other.

And then he struggled a little bit.

And I was like, oh,

I did not expect that.

That one took me by surprise.

And then Lucy as well,

I didn't expect as much.

She's great on her hands.

Great on her hands.

We haven't seen the obstacle in forever.

Yeah, true.

And that's an implement that, like,

it depends if you have it at your

gym.

Like, I don't have one at my gym.

I have one that's wooden, like, made.

But, like,

I don't use it very often because I

don't want to fall on that.

I might bring it out once every three

years.

So Colton has never been good at legless.

He has, what,

one or two extra pulls around.

That was six times two.

That's twelve reps of that.

He's good on his hands,

but he's not fast.

We haven't seen him on an obstacle in

forever.

Lucy, her wrist maybe is good on flat,

and then the minute you have to do

the stairs and the ramp,

maybe that puts it in a weird position.

And we talked about this before the

workout,

but like how much was the day before

going to impact like today?

Because like that toaster bar one,

like before the weekend even began,

like Lucy said that she tested that

workout and on her story, she's like,

how do you get rid of like soreness

in your core?

Because like,

she was so sore from testing that workout.

And I can just imagine how the athletes

felt after Gwen.

I mean the run,

like any type of run uphill,

like I'm sure little muscles that you

haven't used in a while are sore.

Yeah.

Um,

she said that her core was sore after,

or for the rope climb.

So a lot of just accumulation of grip

fatigue.

There was a lot of grip this weekend.

Um, and then before lane seven,

go back and watch Lucy's rope climbs.

Okay.

They were trash.

Okay.

Fair.

And like,

and so in Colton's are going to be

worse than others too.

So that's fair.

Those were the two in that lane.

She was only moving two feet per pool.

I think grip was the main issue this

weekend.

Um, you're,

you're going to be smoked on grip from

Glenn.

You're going to be smoked on grip from

the total bar.

And then you go to legless me personally,

handstand walking,

especially on like that rant that like

that,

I think would have extra blown up my

grip.

Hey, my,

when I do grip stuff with handstand walk,

I feel it tremendously.

I know not everyone does.

Um, but I think, um,

Like the opening of the forearm and the

handstand walk and the extension of the

wrist.

Benita is asking who got hurt on the

ramp.

It was Olivia Geisthardt.

Yeah.

She came back and competed in event six.

Basically hyperextended the knee.

I think so.

Did you hear from someone who would know?

it would taylor had put in sentinel that

they had looked at like wasn't nothing was

torn and she came back out so that's

great yeah um so that one shook up

the leaderboard a lot um but paige and

emma stayed consistent they were

consistent all weekend long

By the end of event five,

it was pretty much a done deal that

those two are going to be your top

two.

And the fight was going to be for

third.

And the last event came down to it.

The same thing happened on the men's side.

Only it was still in doubt whether Jeff

could overtake Roman and Victor.

Austin needed a lot of help to get

into third.

Yeah.

and we were talking before we went on

the air carolyn and i uh that she

was listening to brian friend if austin

hatfield out touches roman and victor jeff

wins oh wow i think like i think

they're like half a second faster like

half a second faster to the buzzer maybe

with a little bit more urgency then you

get a flip there

But it's crazy that both athletes that we,

a lot of people, not all of us,

but a lot of people pick going in

was Lucy and Jeff.

They were in third place,

both of them going into that event.

Both of them win the workout.

Um,

like with the game sticking on the line,

they find a gear that I think not

many people can get to.

And like Lucy was on a mission during

those lunges.

She's one of the best to like swing

her arms.

If you look at her technique,

she did it really well.

I think it was at the WFP before.

Um,

Was it Rogue as well?

Yeah.

Like very,

very efficient mover with the lunges and

made up so much ground and just held

on to those dumbbells.

Like there was nothing that was going to

make her drop those dumbbells and not get

her ticket.

So like with her, yeah,

just like being against the ropes,

like there's no one better than Lucy.

The finishes were unreal.

I felt bad for Gabby Magala on the

last event.

I think the two hundred double unders were

a lot on that Achilles.

Mm hmm.

And that's the one place that hurt her.

Other than that,

she was very competitive all weekend long

in a very stacked field.

She did good.

She never had a top three, did she?

Never really was...

I mean,

Paige was almost top three throughout.

Same with Emma, basically.

Lucy, you know, pretty consistent.

She was just consistent around, I think,

like six or seven.

Like just a step behind those top girls.

So it ends up on the men's side.

Victor Hoffer wins it through like the

fourth tie break.

Because they tied and score him and Roman.

Okay.

They tied for firsts.

They tied for seconds.

Victor had one more third than Roman did.

If Jeff had gone to like five more

points, he wins a tiebreaker?

I believe so.

He would have two wins.

He has two wins.

Last one, yeah.

What a weekend for Hoffer.

And then Jeff Adler takes third.

So those are your games tickets.

And then on the women's side,

Paige Powers, so impressive.

Paige Rogers, sorry.

It's going to be a while for me

to get that right.

Paige Rogers, what an amazing weekend.

Flat out.

Yeah, dominant.

And she is so unassuming.

Like,

she's not jacked like the rest of the

women.

She just,

her body does everything it needs to do.

She's good.

She kind of did the same thing at

Crash.

She was just first or second.

First or second.

No holes.

Emma Lawson comes in second.

We talked about it.

Man,

those two are going to be fun to

watch for the next handful of years.

What a rivalry that is going to be.

And they actually talked about it in the

post-workout interview after event five

today that since Atlas Games in twenty

twenty one.

I was at that one.

Yeah,

they've been going back and forth ever

since then.

And and they enjoy the rivalry,

which I think is really cool.

Yeah, two great athletes.

Like you looked at that podium this

weekend and you're looking towards the

games and you're like,

this could be the three that are fighting

for the podium there, you know,

and all three of them punch their ticket

early, you know, add in Alex Kazan,

Daniel Brandon, Ariel Owen.

And like, that's, you know,

I'm just missing a few that are really

like podium contenders.

Maybe Miriam,

if she has a good season this year.

I think those three have the least amount

of holes.

It was top three right there.

Yeah.

I mean,

Lucy still has a hole if you're testing

a max lift,

but I think she's probably one of the

best on the machines.

One of the best runners like everywhere

else is perfect basically.

Um, so yeah.

And then Lucy gets her ticket.

So those three are done.

They have till end of July to train,

relax, get their mind right.

And then you look at all the athletes

that are now looking at every sanctional

or sanctional semifinal,

signed up for a bunch back-to-back

weekends, trying to figure it out now.

Like, Roman had signed up for, what,

four of them?

Yes.

He's got all kinds of them.

Does he cancel them all?

Does he go for money?

Well,

Syndicate won't let him come because they

only let people who qualify.

That's true.

Fergie gave us four ninety nine to buy

Jamie a ring light.

I have one.

The light's not it was just directly on

me.

Looks like it's not in this room.

I fixed it.

He said much better.

See, look how fast your money works here.

Fergie.

Send us more and I'll go like this.

For the great word voices tonight.

I hope he cancels them.

I hope he cancels them ASAP so somebody

can backfill if needed and someone else

can get a shot.

Do you think all the athletes go to

Legends?

Is Legends the only one this next weekend

or is there more?

I don't know if there's another.

I don't think any of the other overseas

ones are at the same time.

I think it's just Legends this next

weekend.

There's kind of a lot of people signed

up.

There's quite a few that have their names

on that Legends leaderboard.

I think like six or seven of the

females.

Probably three to four of the male

athletes.

I don't know.

Yeah, I don't know.

Who do you got on there?

Hayley?

Is Kyra on there?

But Kyra's going to Australia, right?

Yeah.

That's the rumor.

She signed up for Torian?

That's the rumor out there.

Did she get an invite?

I don't know anything about the invites at

Torian.

I would be guessing.

I bet a lot of people are mad

they didn't do Far East.

And a few of the other ones because

now you're looking and you're like,

I mean,

all of these other ones are stacked too.

I just want to thank all the athletes

for all coming that did come because what

a show this weekend.

And we wouldn't have had that show if

everybody was allowed to piecemeal it out

around the world.

It was a great show this weekend.

I enjoyed seeing Rebecca Fuseli there.

I did too.

She held her own.

I think she did great.

She did awesome.

Vicky was there.

She asked me,

do you think that Rebecca takes this as

a win this weekend?

Or is she going to be upset she

didn't get a games ticket?

And I think she knows herself enough to

know where she stands.

And she made a post after Gwen that

she finished it.

Last time she was at Mayhem,

she didn't finish a single workout.

Yeah, in twenty twenty.

Was that the last time I met?

Twenty twenty.

That's that's a cool post.

And she's top ten.

She did so good.

I don't know how you don't take that

as a win.

You weren't even planning on going.

Last minute decided to go there,

showed up and got top ten.

I highly doubt that she expected to get

a games ticket there.

Looking at the field, it's the first one.

It's completely stacked.

All of the top girls haven't gotten their

spot yet,

and here they are going to get those

spots.

You're basically just getting some

experience before your next real shot at a

spot.

She did awesome.

It was really fun to watch her.

Jar Jar says, Kerstetter, Rolf, Milligan,

Adams, Bernadine, Domet,

and Wishart are all on the Legends lineup.

At one point,

Bernadine wasn't doing the one workout

with the toes to bars or like,

didn't she like sit out?

Like what happened?

Was she injured or was she just kind

of not, didn't want to get like Rondo?

So I don't know if she didn't finish

the buy-in in round three.

So she wasn't allowed to do round four.

Oh, I don't know though.

Cause that I was like,

I wasn't sure whether she was injured or

just kind of being like, okay,

well I'm last.

Why would I kill my core right now?

Aaron said the same thing.

I don't know that Rich would have been

too fond of that move,

but maybe he doesn't care.

I feel like you've got to do the

buy-in every round.

Who knows?

There was a minimum work requirement on

that.

Right.

For each round.

Chick-fil-A sponsored the Bayham Classic

Breakfast of Games Champions.

They like their Chick-fil-A there.

when i did the um service cup there

they had ordered a bunch of chick-fil-a

for the athletes like breakfast lunch was

all there i had never had it before

until that day so they do love their

chick-fil-a um

So I love the programming.

I thought it was well thought out.

I know we were critical of the short

cap.

Yeah.

Must event.

But other than that, like I,

it was watchable.

It was very,

very fun to watch and we had a

lot of close finishes.

Yeah,

I like how close the camera was to

the floor.

They often did like zoom outs that you

could see where the race was.

Like so many times you only get to

see one or two athletes.

I really thought they did a good job

of like showing the field.

And then when people were close to

finishing,

kind of backing away and seeing the races

happening.

Yeah, it was awesome.

If you've never been to Mayhem,

there's like an upstairs loft,

for lack of a better term.

They had a camera up there,

and that's where Rich and Austin and Sean

were sitting.

When they did that angle from the corner

from up there, you could see everything.

It's a really good wide shot,

and they used that a lot,

which I loved,

because you could see then the people

moving down the floor.

That was great.

If I was being hypercritical,

they did show a lot of people after

they finished walking around.

And in my mind, I'm done with them.

I agree.

Like, congrats.

Go celebrate.

Do your thing.

I want to see who's left on the

floor.

But it happens in every CrossFit

broadcast.

I'll probably be preaching till the day I

die.

We will.

So that's being hypercritical.

Yeah.

Other than that,

I thought it was a great viewing

experience for forever for the whole

thing.

And then I only have one criticism of

the, of the broadcast team.

I know that the internet tells rich what

they like and they don't like.

You don't have to settle your beefs.

Every single one of them on air.

You are having an amazing,

an amazing event and an amazing broadcast.

Celebrate it.

Don't get caught up in their beef.

He shouldn't even be looking at comments.

See,

I liked it because like anything that was

getting addressed, like he would just,

he would talk about it.

But that's what his podcast is for.

Yeah.

And I like it on his podcast.

I didn't like it during the broadcast.

I want to know about the athletes that

are out on the floor.

That's what I want to know about.

I want you to tell me about the

programming.

I want you to tell me about the

strategies.

I want you to tell me about all

that stuff.

I don't care what Jason Hopper is icing

this weekend and that he,

he didn't show up.

He did.

People are going to think twice about

dropping out of mayhem next year.

If they host.

I did like his insights on the workouts,

the testing.

I thought that was very valuable to the

broadcast.

Good addition there.

Larry Young,

thank you for the four ninety nine.

Rebecca has some of the best instructional

videos.

She loves it and it shows totally some

of the best content in general.

Most relatable.

Her and Ariel crush it on the woman's

side or CrossFit side of reels.

Yeah, the insight that Rich gave,

like with the jump rope,

that he showed up and forgot his own

rope and had to use a class rope,

and that's what gave him the idea so

that the athletes couldn't use their own

jump rope.

I thought that was awesome.

Those are the things I want in a

broadcast.

If you were doing a pre-show and a

post-show, I'll take your beefs there too.

Yeah.

But when I've got like Emma and Paige

and Lucy on the floor competing for the

win,

I want to hear about them.

Reasonable.

I agree.

Everything else was awesome.

I loved every bit of it.

That's the one thing that got annoying to

me by today.

they crushed it good job mayhem it's a

good event sets a standard for the the

other competitions in terms of programming

in terms of broadcasts how to treat the

athletes um they just they do such a

good job like when i was there competing

in what november i was like damn like

they just make the athletes feel special

um yeah they had some good hookups too

for the athletes in their um

like uh registration like they got mats

bags they had i said that here and

i was like they got hooked up yeah

it makes it easier when there's twenty

athletes forty athletes total for sure

because we're getting what like a jersey

and sunglasses um vicky says my beef was

mali allo's audio sucked i know he could

have been turned up a little bit more

But again, it was sponsored by PBS,

so they were just talking like they're on

NPR.

And that was Austin's role,

celebrating PBS and its fifty years of

public broadcast network.

So, I have to take issue with something.

Fergie says that Rebecca is the next

Christy Aramo.

No, she's not.

Christy,

that is underselling what Christy did.

Christy's a top ten athlete like five

years,

six years in a row or something crazy

like that.

She's one of the best all-time

CrossFitters.

Yeah.

Most consistent.

Yeah.

You can't compare a consistent top ten

finisher with Rebecca trying to make the

games.

Yeah.

I mean, because Christy's smaller.

Christy was incredibly strong.

And an incredible runner,

which Rebecca is not like the fastest for

like running distance.

Yeah.

Sorry.

Hit a little too close to home.

I mean,

you could say that about Holta too,

like smaller.

Yeah.

Holta is probably,

she's a better version of Kristen.

Kristen is a better version of Aramil.

Yeah.

Christy.

There's,

They're both very similar.

Those are my two favorite athletes when I

was at the Games because I was like,

oh, they're smaller and they're so good.

I was sad JR never came up to

the booth to give commentary.

Again.

In the middle of it,

I didn't miss anything.

I thought they were all giving the great

explanation.

And they gave JR shout-outs for his part

in what they've done.

Yeah,

I just wonder how much input he had

on the programming.

If he had a lot, then yeah,

it would have been nice to have him

up there.

It sounds like he had quite a bit.

Yeah,

it would have been nice to have him

up there occasionally and give some...

Thought behind some of it.

I like to hear what JR has to

say.

Vicki says,

I say Becca is a little like Colton

in that she's the people's champ of sorts.

I would not disagree with that.

She is.

She is so good at the media.

So good.

She's yeah.

And she loves CrossFit.

And she talks CrossFit.

And she teaches CrossFit.

She coaches it.

She does all of it.

She's a great ambassador for everything

that is CrossFit.

Agree.

All right.

So that is...

Did we learn anything about any of the

athletes this weekend?

I will tell you this.

I learned that a healthy Victor Hoffer is

pretty damn good.

Yeah.

Dangerous.

I did not have him.

I'm not surprised to see him.

I'm not surprised to see him excel with

this type of programming.

Like there's,

Hoffer's a very good squatter.

Yep.

And he's extremely good high skill

gymnastics.

Yep.

What I was the most impressed with him

is his seventh place on the run.

That was the most impressive part of

Hoffer's weekend.

All the other wads,

nothing surprised me because they were in

his wheelhouse of, um, of events.

Like I did the demo team with him

the one year and I was extremely impressed

with his squatting capacity and just his

high skill gymnastics.

And then he got injured and injured.

But to see him do well on the

run, I was like, okay,

he's closed that hole a little bit.

But yeah, everything else was, yeah,

he was good.

I understand the talent has always been

there, but the health has never been.

Shout out to his coach though.

I don't think he gets enough credit.

Um, like he,

I like his stuff online a lot too.

I think he's a very smart coach.

He's, he's does creative, um,

parametric stuff too, that I like,

or just power based type of training.

And I think he's doing a good job

with, uh,

with Victor because Victor came from what

HWPL.

And now he's with Uday.

And I think he does a really good

job with the programming with a lot of

the European athletes.

But we never talk about him.

That may have been a good move.

Yeah.

And that could have been what, you know,

has gotten him stronger and recovered from

maybe some of his injuries.

Andre Houdet is one of the coolest dudes

ever.

I talked to him at length last year

at the age group games because he had

some athletes there competing at the age

group.

What a cool dude.

And he loves coaching.

He loves coaching and training more than

he loved competing.

And now he's doing what he loves and

it's so cool.

PC says that No Shortcuts is gaining

traction in Europe.

Yeah,

I think between the No Shortcut one and

the Krieger, those are the two,

I would say,

European big programs right now.

Anything else we learned from athletes

this weekend?

Impressive by Rebecca.

Who else?

I learned Gabby's got a little bit more

to go on that Achilles and it,

and it's not that she's not good.

It's that those injuries just take time.

Yeah.

Cause running, she should be a top three,

five in that running event for sure.

She,

and she would never break that many times

on a double under, um,

I'm just excited for the season.

I feel like a lot of people that

weren't there are excited for the next

weekends and are just fired up from

watching the weekend,

watching your friends compete,

your competitors compete.

It was a great way to start the

semifinal season.

Where did Kyra finish?

Like, twelfth or something.

Maybe tenth.

Somewhere in there.

Let me see.

Uh,

Jar Jar says uphill running is so much

harder on the Achilles too.

Yeah.

I want to bring up this cause I

think this was a really cool story from

the weekend as well.

Uh, Daniel, Daniel Coos, um,

was a last minute backfill called the

night before the event started.

Isn't even training to compete, but said,

what the hell?

Let's give it a shot.

I'm like Carolyn Prevo.

I just stay in shape all the time.

Let's go.

Showed up and did not finish last,

which was his goal.

And finished fourth in event five,

I think.

Pretty cool.

Yeah, the handstand walk one,

he did really well.

I think it was second in his heat

or something like that.

So just got to love when, you know,

it's the classic underdog story guy off

the street.

And then he comes in and because he's

replacing Hopper,

he has the t-shirt with the black marker

that says Coos across the front.

Love that.

Just embraced his whole role in the

weekend.

And at the end of the day,

he did way better than Kale Lehman.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So,

but all I could think about as I

was watching him is he is like Carolyn,

just he trains all the time,

regardless of what he's,

whether he's going for, um,

a competition or not.

And he's ready at a moment's notice.

Wasn't he like in the middle of schooling,

like just finished something up.

Yeah.

And he's trying to be a pilot at

the same time.

I don't know that he, I don't,

I think he admitted that he's not in

like full training shape.

He just was willing to like come out.

Yeah, I just thought it was awesome.

Yeah,

it was cool to see him out there.

Do you guys think the non-qualifiers are

going to roll to Legends this week?

I think someone like Emily Rolfe may.

I think Kyra will be there.

I think Olivia will.

Yeah.

I mean,

they can also look at the workouts too

and make a decision.

Haley would be the one that I would

question whether she would go out there.

Well,

there's two more workouts to get

announced.

Like if,

and they'll get announced tomorrow or

today,

but I know all the details come out

tomorrow.

Right.

Do you wait until you see all six

and you're like, okay, well this,

these two workouts are bad for me.

I mean, it's the flaw of the system,

but you could do that.

You accept your registration,

you look at the workouts,

and then you decide.

Jar Jar says,

if I have one complaint about Mayhem,

it's how they hang out the wildcard

invites.

We talked about that at length before this

thing.

I don't believe any semifinal should give

out invites based on past seasons, period.

As it comes to backfills,

these events are hung out to dry.

Whoever they can get in the door to

fill lanes, I can't blame them one bit.

Who finished last for the women?

Was it Colin Brander?

Yeah.

That's what I figured.

She was a long time.

Yeah, I'm surprised she got an invite.

Um...

Being invited to Mayhem is like being

invited to a Texas chain gang.

Yeah, it's a lot of pain.

Okay.

So I think that's it from Mayhem,

what we learned.

Had a great weekend, fun to watch.

Great job to everyone involved there.

Congratulations, Victor Hoffer,

Roman Krennikoff, Jeff Adler,

Paige Rogers,

Lucy Campbell and Emma Lawson.

Good pick, Scott.

I picked the women's podium exactly.

You had Lucy third?

I had Lucy third.

Did I have Lucy first?

Lucy first and Paige third.

No, I think I had Paige second.

I think I had Lucy, Emma, then Paige.

I had Paige higher.

Now on the men's side, total trash.

I don't know if it's just I just

don't want Roman to have the spot or

what.

I just was not really rooting for him.

He's too inconsistent to pick.

I know.

He did good.

I'm annoyed.

But I did not have Victor Hoffer.

Where did Saxon end up?

Was he sixth?

Seventh?

Somewhere around there.

I think it was six.

Austin, Colton.

No, Austin was way down.

No, Austin was like fourth.

Austin was fourth.

No, Colton was fifth.

I have it right here.

Colton was fifth.

Oh, that sucks.

Colton dropped that much.

Okay.

Okay, so it went Austin, Colton, Saxon.

Yes.

And then Callum Clements.

Wow.

He's one of the athletes.

Didn't he qualify through the online

semifinal last year?

Am I wrong thinking that?

You might be right there.

Or am I thinking of something else?

Someone else?

No, you might be right.

Like he is like eleventh or tenth last

year.

Maybe I think he was good online.

It's just going to be interesting because

there's so many,

like there's so many good athletes.

So very few spots,

like a lot of people are going to

be banking for those online spots.

A lot of people, you know,

and like someone like Ariel,

she's going all in on the online.

Yep.

How many other athletes are going to do

that?

And then who's going to be left from

all of these competitions that are just

kind of just tight on spots.

There are a lot of semifinals,

but you can't do all of them.

And a lot of them are on the

same weekend.

So if you pick the wrong one,

you're going to be stuck in the online.

That's going to be so competitive.

Callum was a spoiler this weekend, too.

He contributed to the shakeups.

The last thing I did,

Vicky did keep me informed as to what

was going on at the venue.

She said it was packed yesterday.

Like had to get in early,

had to fight for a place to stand.

It was not as full today.

And they actually sold single day tickets

this year,

which they did not do last year.

So that probably contributed to that some.

But if you didn't go today,

you missed out.

because there were some great finishes.

But thank you to Vicki.

Yesterday,

her and her husband were right beside lane

one on the side and got great video

footage and a good sense of what was

going on there.

So next on the list is,

if people didn't see it,

This weekend,

Danny Spiegel made her debut as an

American gladiator.

It's on Amazon Prime.

She's in both of the first two episodes

that have been released.

She did pretty well in episode one as

a gladiator.

On episode two, wah, wah, wah.

Really?

Yeah.

I haven't watched it.

So it's the event where you have to

swing from ring to ring to get from

one side to the other.

She got,

she got passed quick by one of the

gladiators and it, or not the contestants.

Yeah.

And the, the,

the contestant was much smaller framed

than Danny.

And I think she just was a hair

quicker.

But I think the route that you take

too, I think everybody was feeling out.

Like this was the first time I saw

her on the rings.

Who knows how many times she's done it.

So, but anyway, it was fun to watch.

If you like the old gladiators,

it's pretty much the exact same games

amped up a little bit.

I think the gladiators are more athletic

than they were back in the day.

Not just roided out.

I used to watch that show all the

time.

Yeah.

Yeah, I used to watch it too.

Did that one girl, is it Jordan?

She hasn't competed yet.

She hasn't gone yet.

You said that she was a contestant?

Yeah,

she actually announced it on her Instagram

with her in the full outfit.

as a contestant.

So, so yeah,

it'll be fun to see how it goes

because it's a, it's a tiered structure,

like a playoff form.

If you win, you move on.

So it's a,

a quick little thing to probably be done

in a few weeks.

Yeah.

But I watched it all the time in

college as a kid.

It was fun watching all the games again.

Are they the same event?

Yeah.

Cool.

Pretty much the exact same event.

That run escalator at the end seemed

extremely difficult.

Yes.

Larry says that too.

Seemed way harder than it did in the

past.

Yeah.

And I think it's,

we don't need to overanalyze gladiators

but there's a pad right before you hit

the yes and i think that pad you

sink and slow down and you lose all

your momentum hitting the treadmill to try

to get up to the top yep absolutely

um three weeks with multiple episodes

released released each friday yeah i'll

catch up on all of them when i'm

recovering tomorrow and tuesday

For sure.

And detoxing from the CrossFit stuff for a

little bit.

With our last fifteen minutes,

if you did not see,

Legends has released some workouts

already.

the two people on the screen with me

are both competing at legends in the

master's division, along with Lex, Alexis.

Uh, she is competing as well.

So our whole Sunday night CrossFit talk

family is competing at legends other than

myself.

Um,

It was fun seeing the, well, not fun.

My DMs blew up when the two of

them started testing workouts today.

But it's fun seeing their input and their

reaction to the workouts that have been

released.

What are your thoughts going into Legends

next weekend?

Go ahead, Jamie.

I mean, I shouldn't be at all surprised.

I'm disappointed in the programming so

far.

But it is what it is.

I'm trying not to be so negative.

Do you like those machines?

If anything... Pull them up.

Pull them up.

This Tupper.

Yeah.

I mean, if anything, I hope it,

what do you think they'll feel like?

I don't know.

And I,

and I hope nobody told me that the

one is harder than the echo bike.

And I was like, no.

Yeah.

But I mean, that's fine.

I hate that we're going to be sitting

on a machine for so long.

Like, like I just hate that.

Yeah.

I just don't want them all to be.

Peer power output.

So I hope the machine isn't like,

isn't really hard.

Yeah.

And hopefully nobody has one and can gain

advantage by figuring them out.

Sounds like there's like eleven gears to

this thing and I don't even understand how

it works.

So it'd be nice if we're all on

a, you know,

even even keel with this one and people

don't really know what these how these

machines operate.

So you could just be on the wrong

gear the whole time and just be working

so much harder.

Yeah,

and you don't even know what you're doing.

I don't know.

It would be almost nice if they just

set a gear,

but I feel like that's probably not the

way to go either because who knows what

they choose.

Yeah,

I don't love that we're on the machines

for so long on the first event.

We don't even know how long we're on.

I mean, there's a twenty two minute cap.

There's two hundred jobs.

So I'm assuming for a pretty long time

on machines.

I'm assuming too.

The second workout will be dictated a lot

with the sandbag.

So you have power, like short power there.

And then you have

Strength with DT-ish workout.

And then there's a ten-minute time cap for

event four.

I think most of the field gets time

cap.

Yeah.

What the hell?

For the five rounds of that.

If you are choosing to go heavy for

this DT workout,

you don't also go heavy in the overhead

squat.

You make that one be gymnastics.

Like,

choose which one you want to be the

heavy workout.

I think...

The gymnastics will play a factor in that

one,

but I just think that it's a fast

time cap for the field that's there.

You have a lot of range in a

semifinal field.

Zero.

Zero gymnastics factor in that workout.

They might as well have done a four

rep max.

I think the forty bar muscle ups and

the handstand walk,

you can make up some ground there.

They knocked our bar muscle ups down to

six.

You're even taking away the gymnastics.

I don't even understand.

I don't think that a lot of people

are finishing.

Because of the overhead squat.

I don't think it's like,

I don't think the overhead squat is overly

heavy.

I just think their time cap is off,

but it is like still heavy.

I thought the masters were going to get

a little bit less,

but it's not as less as I thought.

The forty five year olds are moving the

same way that I am.

I don't know about you, too,

if you have the same as me.

that's that's insane i have the same as

the elites okay so you so the forties

and the forty fives i think forty fives

moving that way is stupid well the

overhead squats is already very

challenging movement for masters um i

think that

with that load is going to be very

hard for the mat,

like for a lot of the masters in

that movement to get proper depth.

And then you pair that with a high

skill, higher skilled handstand walk,

which hasn't been tested with the field

that's going to semifinals.

It's going to be.

You have people at three hundred and

eighty ninth going.

I don't know further than that.

I don't understand.

Well, not.

they can't go past four hundredth.

Oh, true.

Yeah.

I was thinking of where they were in

the elite division, but yeah,

the Masters was four hundred.

Yeah, yeah.

It's just purely strength.

Once again, I like workout three,

like that's fine.

Make your heavy barbell cycling workout.

It gives me a little reminiscent.

I asked, I asked in the chat,

I thought,

do you think there's any possibility there

will be a nine, six, three unbroken?

So each, cause it's six rounds of nine,

six, three.

Could they make you hold onto the barbell?

Well, no, I saw the load and no,

it's not.

But which is kind of unfortunate.

I almost think that could have been a

cool twist.

But I think that's your heavy workout.

Yeah,

that should be like you don't make the

overhead squat.

Did they learn nothing from the games last

year?

You already did a ring almost like the

same workout and it was way

overprogrammed.

They ended up switching their time cap

because wasn't the original time cap like

eight or nine minutes and then they

switched it?

So let's just go through these real quick

because you guys are talking about

everything.

Let's actually look at the workout.

Workout one is four time.

We don't know what the bike,

we don't know what the ski is.

Two hundred double unders with a beaded

rope, twenty two minute cap.

I like the beaded rope.

Yeah.

It's fine.

It's better for me than regular double

liners.

Because at least if it hits my foot,

it just keeps going.

It's got some weight to it.

And what you guys feel with any type

of different rope is what I feel with

any regular dubs.

Event four time.

Thirty chest-to-bar pull-ups.

Thirty sandbag cleans.

Thirty chest-to-bar pull-ups.

grippy um the sandbag standard will be in

like like will be a determining factor can

you go touch and go with the dump

with the bag i sometimes don't like the

touch and go with the bag because i

think some people barely touch it on the

ground it's like very sketchy the way that

they touch the ground um like rogue didn't

allow um

During the Rogue Invitational,

they weren't allowed to go touch and go

with the sandbags.

They wanted them to drop it on the

ground and then go back up.

So interesting to see what their sand will

be there.

But I think where the workouts won on

that one is the sandbag.

Oh, that's all that workout is.

So you have power on the machines in

there, the sandbag.

And then here...

And then you're sponsored by power.

Six rounds for time.

Event three.

Nine deadlifts.

Six power cleans.

Three shouldered overhead.

Very DT-esque.

Two twenty-five.

One fifty-five.

Now it does vary for the Masters.

Heavy DT.

Mine's the same as that.

And I think Jamie's is one forty-five.

Yes.

Like that cap, I think a lot.

I still think a lot of people will

get time capped.

Yep.

In this division,

there's a lot of people that won't be

able to do those weights from the people

that are there at the semifinal.

Yep.

Not for like the top of the field

at each of the divisions,

but there's a significant portion of the

field that won't be able to.

But I guess they're trying to get the

right people to the next round.

Whoops.

Did I miss the mayhem talk?

Yes,

you're an hour and fifteen minutes late.

An hour and ten minutes to mayhem.

Yep.

It was great.

You should go back and listen to it.

Event four.

Five rounds for time.

Eight bar muscle ups.

Four, six, eight, ten,

twelve overhead squats.

Fifty foot handstand walk.

One eighty five, one thirty five.

Ten minute cap.

I don't even fitness at your guys' level.

Elites are fine.

Not the Masters at that cap.

It's a crazy cap.

For the Masters especially.

I think like twelve to fourteen for a

lot of the Masters.

Even twelve to fifteen.

Yeah.

It just needs to be lighter.

I don't understand how you go from one

heavy event to another,

and there's zero bias of gymnastics.

Exactly.

And we're seeing one thirty five there,

which we've been seeing one twenty one

eighty five go with one twenty five.

And I'm surprised like when it's a

squatting movement,

like a front squat or a squat clean,

I can see the one thirty five one.

It's a shoulder stabilizing,

especially when we have the same amount of

volume for the elites with the bar muscle

ups and the handstand walk.

Like the men will outperform the females

on this one,

I think by a little bit.

Jar Jar,

the weights vary a lot from age group

to age group.

I think there's some age groups don't do

this one, I think.

I don't think the sixty plus do it.

Maybe it starts at fifty five.

It's either fifty five or sixty.

Maybe.

I'm not sure about that.

Weight stop dropping at start dropping at

forty.

One-fifteen.

It's one-sixty-five,

one-fifteen for the forty to forty-four

and the forty-five to forty-nine.

I think that's crazy for the forty-five to

forty-nine, personally.

What is it?

One-sixty-five, one-fifteen.

Fifteen.

And the thirty-five is one-eighty-five,

one-thirty-five?

Yeah.

I mean... I don't... I just...

You just can't make everything heavy and

power output.

That's all this camp is.

If you go watch Masters competitions,

and I love weight,

and I've talked about that already

tonight.

I like watching heavyweight move.

But when you go to these competitions,

the people that are winning the events are

not natural.

I'm just gonna say it,

it promotes the use of PEDs in the

masters community for the people that are

winning these.

It is obvious when you see people win

these events that they are not natural.

I just, we lose the push for,

gymnastics and just general fitness

because people are constantly resting to

pick up these heavy weights.

And that's all they do is train lifts

so that they can win one reps at,

at events or be able to handle this

weight.

And they're, if this workout was your,

the, what we did in the open,

the quarterfinals, the one, fifteen,

eighty with this workout,

It would be biased more to the gymnastics.

The handstand walk would matter more.

You should leave it the eight bar

muscle-ups.

I don't know why we're dropping to six

bar muscle-ups.

Yes, so much TRT and other stuff.

The whole medicine cabinet for some.

All right.

So I got to be up at five.

So let's look at who signed up for

Legends on the elite side and who we

think is going to punch their ticket.

I think it's only two.

Yeah, it is only two for elite.

Two tickets.

So we have on the women's side,

and we talked earlier,

some of these people just competed.

We have Abby Domet, Alex DeGarmo,

Alexis Turbin, Ashlyn Slovec,

Caitlin Bernadine, Daniel Brandon,

Elizabeth Wishart, Emily Rethwell,

Emily Rolfe, Grace Lochner, Haley Adams,

Kyra Milligan, Laura Driscoll,

Lauren Stallwood, Lexi Neely, Lydia Fish,

Maddie Krusevich, Nicole Haunches,

Olivia Kerstetter, Olivia Raymond,

Samantha Brown, Samantha Chu,

Celine Gonzalez, and Sydney Smith.

I think it'll be Olivia and Danielle.

Based off these workouts right now,

like Olivia is going to smash the machine

one,

going to smash the sandbag with chest to

bars, going to smash the weight.

and has great gymnastics for the bar

muscle-ups and handstand walk.

Yeah, Olivia should,

on these four workouts,

those are good workouts for Olivia.

And I think Danielle Brennan has great

overhead capacity for overhead squats,

great on the shoulder overhead.

Yeah, no.

She's good on a sandbag too.

Yeah, I think she'll do great at these.

Doman can do well too,

but I think Olivia is better there.

I think it's Danielle's to win coming in

fresh without competing this weekend.

Then I think depending on the other

workouts, it's going to be Olivia,

Lydia fish or Lexi Neely.

I think one of them is injured recently

or like pulled out of mayhem.

Was it Lexi Neely or fish?

I thought,

I thought they pulled out because Lexi

Neely pulled out.

I thought it was because she wanted her

chins.

But I could be wrong.

No,

I don't think there's going to be any

running Jar Jar.

I honestly, knowing Bob and Joe,

it's going to be,

they're going to try to get out of

there by three PM on Sunday.

So there's going to be like two,

four minute workouts.

Yeah.

They're going to be all sub calls besides

the one workout.

And then on the men's side.

Alessandro Zanette, Alex Bozenhard,

Alexander Majors, Brian Huh, Briley Smith,

Christian Ramon, CJ Gerald, Dallin Pepper,

Dan Hardiman, Dylan Hamming, EJ Hein,

Elijah Sabino,

Grant Griffin, Ila Moskalenko,

James Lewis, James Sprague, Jordan Luden,

Lucas Purdy, Matthias Farrow,

Nikita Yunov, Roman Krennikov,

Scott Cottrell, Travis Moore,

and Tudor Magda.

God, it's kind of good for Tudor.

But I think it's James and Dallin.

Yeah, it's James and Dallin,

and then Tudor will be in the mix

too.

It just depends whether one of them has

a mess up and then gets middled.

Because I think overall,

if they're always going to be like one,

two, one, two, three,

just kind of exchanging,

it takes one athlete to just have one

bad workout and you can't make it up.

Because I think they're just a tier above

everyone else.

Or many tiers.

Tudor's looked really good this year.

I'm excited to see how he does against

Dallin and James.

Yep.

But, boy,

this field got hurt bad with withdrawals.

Yeah,

there's still – I'd still say there's an

argument to give three spots here.

Really?

Yeah.

It's just crazy that, like,

not every semifinal has the exact same

amount of people that even show up.

Like,

Mayhem has three spots for twenty athletes

there.

This one has thirty athletes for two

spots.

Syndicate has, what, forty athletes?

Thirty for three spots.

NorCal has fifty athletes for two.

Some of them have for one, like,

I don't know.

It's just...

You're not going to be sad if Tudor

doesn't...

I would have thought that North America

would be more even in terms of the

field and the spots.

Agree.

You're asking me if I'd be sad if

Tudor didn't make it?

Yeah.

But that's not what sports is about.

Like, if I looked at Mayhem,

I'm sad that Saxon isn't in it,

but it doesn't mean they should have given

six spots.

No, of course not.

He wasn't fit enough to make it.

Right?

Like,

They chose their two spots.

He knows it.

He's going there to compete for two spots.

I hope that he's gotten good enough that

that's enough for him.

Yeah.

And I like the other two guys too.

But there's no drama behind it because

they have another shot.

Well, that's true.

And that's been my argument now for weeks

in this whole system.

is you go you don't make it okay

where's the next place i can go oh

you make it there well at least i

still have online so it's hard to be

sad for anybody because they've got three

more shots yeah but i would like to

see if tutor can hang hang with the

other two i think he can hang

Well, that is our show for tonight.

Yep, you got to get to bed.

I do.

I got to get to bed so I

can be put to sleep.

Even though I hate that people get another

crack at the apple,

this weekend was fun to watch.

And I did think they brought the drama.

I thought the close races were awesome.

I thought Gwen itself brought the drama.

Those are the things I want to see

in the sport.

I think those are the things that grow

this sport.

And, you know, we all watch playoff,

playoff hockey, playoff basketball,

playoff football,

because it is win or go home.

And we've lost all that.

So I'm going to pound that drum one

more time before we leave the air.

That is it for tonight.

Hey, I got to go to sleep.

I wish I could take Thirdsy,

but I can't.

But I can thank them as our sponsor

for this show.

And you can get it for fifteen percent

off by going to Thirdsy.com backslash

Jazzy or use code Jazzy at checkout.

The other thing is no lunch with the

Clydesdale tomorrow.

We're off tomorrow,

hopefully back Tuesday.

We will have fun with that.

And then next week is I got to

figure it out.

These two are on the road.

I got to figure out what to do.

I got to figure out if I can

push or if I get a substitute or

something like that.

But we'll figure something out.

We'll be live, I'm sure, next week.

Sunday Night CrossFit Talk.

In some way, shape, or form.

With that,

I will see everybody Tuesday on Lunch with

Clyde Sale.

And I hope you guys have a great

rest of your night.

Bye now.
