Full show transcript:
You have to move to a new country tomorrow. No, I don't. Where are you going? Um. I get to pick. Yes.
I'm probably going to uh uh like Finland, something like that. If I get to pick, I'm out. I'm I'm going somewhere like that. Okay. Norway. Finland. I'm going Scandinavian. Why? Uh because I have to. That's where I'm going.
I'm part Scandinavian. Which part?
I I would go Scandinavian. Okay. Yeah. It's gonna be cold in the winter, but I'm kind of used to that. Uh, but I just think life there looks beautiful. It does look beautiful. And the people seem very amazing. And I kind of like what they got going on over there.
They have good stuff.
Yeah, so I'm going Scandinavian. Okay. Where are you going?
Well, I initially I was I'm gonna look up my 23andMe to see how much of me is Scandinavian. But I can't remember my password. So Initially I initially I thought I would go somewhere English speaking so that I didn't have to.
But I'm gonna have to learn a new language.
And quick.
English is like widely spoken. Like pretty much everywhere. Unless you go somewhere that's like indigenous, you're gonna be able to find somebody who can help you communicate. Yeah. English is widespread.
Where would I go? If I could move to a different country tomorrow, where am I going? You didn't say could. You said have to. I have to. You have to go.
So if I have to leave, I'm going somewhere that's gonna be a cool spot. Yeah, Finland is pretty cool. I'm gonna I'm gonna ride around on bicycle. Uh yeah. Like that's it's gonna be great. It is gonna be great. The ocean's right there, so I'm gonna be able to do some offshore fishing, which is cool. Can I go with you? It's cold. I know, but I'll come with you. I mean, you're welcome to. I'm not gonna say no.
I think I'm gonna go to change my mind. Where are you going? I'm gonna go to um where's that place that our friend lives? The Caribbean. Utah? No, no, no, no, no.
Are you talking about the Cayman Islands? Yeah, the Caymans? Yeah, that's where I'm moving. That looks pretty good too. That's where I'm going. You're gonna go. So it's a little tropical. Yeah. Here's the other part. Like, you're not gonna have a winter in Cayman.
I so uh I'm just telling you, you're gonna miss snow. You don't think so? No. Dude, I can see the northern lights in Finland. I'm looking at pictures. Like I just pulled up Finland and I'm just looking at just pictures. Okay. And it there's caribou. There's like it's winter. But dude, is it pretty?
It is really pretty.
And look how much. One picture after another after another. It just is gorgeous.
You're also really close to Russia, though. What?
Okay. It's just amazing. I just think it's just so cool.
Okay, it is pretty. It really is. But look at the Cayman Islands.
And then I wanted to see fly fishing Finland. Yep, it is a thing. Of course. Of course it is. Of course it is.
Finland is so pretty. Yeah. But it also looks so cold. In the winter time. I'm picking. I'm staying with mine. You're staying with the Cayman Islands. Yes, I am. Oh, look at the Cayman.
Alright, I'm looking at the Cayman Islands. Yeah. Blue water, Caribbean. These people are riding horses in the ocean. Like deep. Like they're like way deep. Not just on the beach. Like they're swimming on the backs of the horses. Yeah. I don't care for that.
I don't care for that either. And I guarantee the horses don't probably care for that either.
Stingrays, snorkeling, some diving, some coral reef. Okay Plus, we have some friends there. So that's it. I know that's what I'm saying. Yeah. Sea turtles. I mean. There is some benefit to Cayman.
I'm in it. I'm going to Cayman. I'll come visit you. In the summer. Yeah.
I'll come visit you in the winter. That way, yeah. Bada bing. Perfect. Yeah. Sleep divorce. We can make this. make this work. Food divorce. All the things that you've always wanted.
I haven't always wanted those.
Well, now we live. How far apart are they? You looking that up? No. How far away? I got. Okay. Finland to Cayman Islands. Uh. It is 16 hours and 10 minutes flight. Okay. And it's gonna cost $1,500. One way. Uh I don't know if that's a round trip or not. It's gonna be expensive.
So it's gonna, you know. I don't know. Okay. Should we start today's show? Let's do it.
All right, here we go. Hey there. Hi. Hi, how are you? I'm Dandy. Okay. How are you? Well, I'm a little unprepared. Oh no. I was I was going to have two separate uh breaks this hour where we would say good morning, and one would be good news, and then uh we had a headphone incident that happened.
Headphone kerfluffle.
Yeah, and so now uh I just want to combine the two, but I haven't had a chance to really dive in and look at what I'm gonna talk about for good news. So I'm gonna just pick. Okay. Remember uh when they built that giant wildlife bridge over the highway.
Yes. And they they opened it back in December. It's the largest in North America. It's over Interstate 25 in Colorado, and the goal was to keep both animals and drivers safe. So it gave the animals a safe place to cross over the freeway without uh you know jumping into traffic. That was the idea. Well, so the numbers have come in, and the bridge is working in a huge way.
Collisions involving animals have dropped by 91%. No way. That's incredible. Huge.
Incredible. Cameras have caught whole herds of elk, pronghorn, bears, deer, coyotes, all crossing this bridge. Wildlife officials have reported smaller critical critters like frogs, mice. They also enjoy the safe travels on special log paths that are designed to protect them from predators while they're crossing. Uh really cool.
Uh and those that are involved with the project are still working to make the bridge even more inviting by adding vegetation, which could improve the safety numbers uh even further in the months and years to come. I love it. It's really cool. And it's working. I know.
Josh, you're right. That is good news.
Yeah. It is good news. Yeah. I like that.
I like that story. I like animals being safe, and I like people being safe. That's what I'm saying.
We need more of these. So now all the transportation departments have to start building these across the country so that we can uh safely drive down the freeways without worrying about hitting the animals.
I can think of a lot of highways in this area that need those. So chop chop. Yeah, get on it. Get on it. Nice. Nice story. It's good news. It is good news.
I have to apologize because I feel like I've been in a foul mood all week. What are you talking about? What are you talking about? Go on. You know.
I'm just gonna let you do the talk. I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna feed into this. What? What do you uh was up?
Oh, I hadn't noticed. What?
What are you talking about? What's what are you talking about? I don't know.
I just feel like I've been real irritable this week. What's going on? I don't know. I don't have anything specific that I'm irritable about. I've just been like snappy. Okay.
people. All right. I had to apologize to a coworker yesterday. Not because I snapped at her, but because I was kind of short when she was asking me a question. And I said, I'm sorry. I'm gonna I'm in a bad mood, and I don't necessarily know why. And she was like, it's okay, honey.
Is it is it something that that I did? Oh, here we go. Is it is it something the dog did? I don't know.
I honestly couldn't even tell you. I don't have an answer for it. I just have felt crabby. Maybe it's the weather changing.
Maybe it's because you're trying to uh eat better, and so you're not eating as much sugar, and so you're cranky about that.
That's possible.
Although I did see you sneaking some saltwater taffy, so maybe it's not that.
Excuse me. Do you want to stir the anger pot? And you ate the last cookie. Yeah, that was rightfully mine.
I didn't have one when I got home. It was the last one. You had one yesterday morning. I left that one there. It's fine. It is fine. I'm not mad about it. You shouldn't be.
I'll fight you for that cookie. That cookie was mine. It's long gone. Yeah. And I said even, ooh, one cookie. Is this mine?
But I didn't say a word. It was gone before. And then half of it dropped on the floor, and I thought maybe she's just gonna like discard that half and I'll just dig it out of the garbage.
No, I'll I would just stop you from throwing it away and be like, I'll eat it.
But I but you didn't ate it. ate it.
Crazy. I'm not wasting a cookie. Yeah. I don't know. I don't really know why. I've been so grouchy this week. I think maybe I've just been so tired lately. I've been tired. What what? Nothing. No, you've got something to say.
I have nothing to say. Nope. I have zero words for you. Uh how can I help?
That's the right answer. I don't know. You were trying, I was doing some laundry last night, and you got all up in my space. I didn't care for that. And you're like, I'm trying to help. I'm like, I got it. I don't need help right now.
I tried to be present where you were like multiple different times. Like you were gonna work out. So I was like, I'll hang out in the basement while you're working out, and then you did your thing and then left. And then I was like, oh, okay. You're gonna go sit on the couch. And then I was like, I'll go hang out there. And then you left, and I went, it's gotta be me. So I'm just gonna lay low. Won't say anything.
It's just a mix of everything. It wasn't necessarily you. But I do know that when I'm irritable and grouchy, the best I just need to be alone.
Yeah, but then I feel like if I'm not somewhere nearby, then you're gonna be like, why are you ignoring me? And that's not gonna help either. So I don't know how to help. Because you want me there, but also go away. Yeah. I got it.
When I'm yeah, I'll come find you when I'm ready for you. Okay. Just yeah, lay low until I'm like, okay, come on out now. Just be ready. Okay. Okay.
Don't know what to do with that, but I'll just be ready for when I need you. Okay. Anyway, sorry that I've been so crouchy.
The show has suffered maybe a little bit. Yeah.
Everything's been just fine. It's all good.
I'm in a I'm in a better new mood today. Here we go. Up and at him. Because I don't like being grouchy. That's not my that's not my natural disposition. Right. I don't like it. So here I am. Full steam ahead. Do you need a snack? Yeah, kinda. Always. You got a whole bag of them. That's not snacks. Oh. That's just like my breakfast.
Are you upset because we ran out of cinnamon roll? Yeah. Okay. Okay. Do you need like a taco? Yeah. Yeah, that sounds nice. Yeah. Yeah, I do. Or hash brown? Yeah. Yeah. Me too.
So yesterday we talked about you want to taste test all the cinnamon rolls in town. Yeah.
Doesn't that sound like a great idea?
Yeah. It sounds like the best idea you've ever had. Yeah, it's a good one. Aside from marrying me, obviously. Oh, obviously, obviously. So then I decided to make it into a club. Yeah.
Because I do that. I called it Cine Roll Club. With a Y. Why with a Y? Why is that a problem? Because how do you spell cinnamon? With an A. Are you sure? I'm positive.
Spell cinnamon cinnamon. Cinnamon. C-I-N-N-A-M-O-N.
Yeah, okay. So why a Y? Why would I spell it any other way? I don't know.
I feel like throwing another I in there makes more sense.
It's the same. It's the same amount of sense. Your daughter had the same complaint. How are you spelling it? Because I asked her last night. I said, Hey, do you want to join Cine Roll Club? And she goes, What? And she said, What is it? And I said, Oh, we're going to taste test all the cinnamon rolls in town.
Yeah. And she said, Nope, disinvite me. I don't like the name.
It's a terrible name for a club. And then she said, Do you spell it with an I or a Y? I said, a why. And she said, Nope, disinvite me. I go, You're uninvited. Done. You're not allowed. I don't want people to be a part of my club if they don't want to be a part of my club.
You were forcing me into the club yesterday.
You're the one who had the idea.
Not for a club. I just want to taste all the cinnamon rolls. Fine. But then you didn't like my execution method. Like I just want to have them all and try a bite of each one. And you were like, no, no, no. One at a time.
Well, Josh, you can't have six cinnamon rolls and try six cinnamon rolls. Watch me. Okay. I'm just I'll be part of my own club. Founder, president, and member. So member. Yeah, fine.
You know why? By laws will be easy. Yeah. Making votes will be easy. There's too many cooks in this kitchen. I'll be my own club. You're uninvited. You don't even have the list of cinnamon roll places.
I will figure that out. It's not like it's good luck. Yep. It's public information. I can Google Cinnamon Rolls East Idaho just as fast as you can.
You don't have the special ones that I found.
I have none of them because I didn't look into it that deeply.
You won't find them. I found those special. It's fine. Only member. Okay.
So you're the only member of Cine Club. Yeah. Cine Roll Club. Okay. How are you gonna go about acquiring?
I'm not going to even tell to tell you?
Oh, okay. Like I have a competing club. I don't. All I have is a mouth and a fork, and I want cinnamon rolls. That's it. Mine's very easy. I just want to eat cinnamon rolls. Mine's pretty easy too. I want to find like the goeeest one. Like that's what I'm looking for. Because I told you the one we tried was good, but it was a little dry.
Well, sometimes here's I want to find I like the gooeyest one. I I like your plan. But I also sometimes the frosting on cinnamon rolls is a little too sweet, or it's a little too sure frosting-esque.
That makes no sense, but I get what you're saying. That frosting is too much frost. Well, it's got to be. I understand. You know what I mean? I do. I know the flavor. It could be too uh, it could be too frosting and not enough uh it's not frosting. Icing.
It's gotta be icing and not frosting. You're right. I agree. Okay.
That's sometimes they put it on so thick, it's like butter. Yeah. And that's too much. So I'm I'm with you. I'm I I get it. But I also they've got to be fresh.
and warm. You'd make a good member of my club, but...
Yeah, well, I didn't necessarily want to be in the club if you remember.
I do remember, but I don't understand why.
Because it doesn't need to be a club. It can just be eating cinnamon rolls. It doesn't need to have a name and bylaws and structure. It's just it literally is I want six cinnamon rolls on the table in front of me.
It doesn't have any bylaws or
structure that I don't know where they came from. Is a name. And I'm gonna take a bite of each, and I'm gonna say, I like this one best. And then you're gonna go, that is from and turn it around, and I'll go, no way.
It's almost like you need to have a club for that because if you're if you're by yourself, you're gonna know where all the cinnamon rolls are from.
I don't need a club. I need a cinnamon roll assistant. Well, it's not gonna be me. A cinnamon assistant.
It can't be your assistant because I'm the president of this other club. Okay. And that's a conflict of interest. You make no sense.
Just showed you a teaser trailer that uh came out like 10 minutes ago. Yeah. Really? Yeah. So you just is brand new. Oh, man, oh man. Brand new.
You heard it here first.
Yeah, there is a teaser trailer for Gremlins 3. I don't know that we asked for it. We talked about it a while ago that it might be happening. Rumors were stirring, and now there's a teaser trailer. It's very, very short.
It's uh only a few seconds long. Gizmo's hanging out in the backpack, and you see his face kind of poke out, and then you hear the in the background, and it says the movie is coming out October 6th, 2028.
I couldn't even tell you, I don't think I've seen Gremlins 2.
The one with uh with the lady Gremlin. Yeah, I haven't seen that one. Oh, well, then you've got work to do. No. I'm good. I don't think I need to.
Gremlins 2 came out in 1990. Gremlins 1 came out in 1984. Yep.
This is This has been a long time coming. October 6th, 2028. That's the date they teach. 2028. That's a long time. October 6, 2028, which is a very long time. And apparently uh it got delayed. Warner Brothers pushed it back.
I'm not certain why. Uh, but they first revealed the project during an investor call in 2025. Steven Spielberg is returning as executive producer. Yep. Uh, along Maiden Voyages, Eleanor Columbus. Uh, Chris Columbus is set to produce and direct.
He's done a bunch of different stuff. Christopher Columbus. Not Christopher, Chris. Uh Hannah Marks is writing the script from an original draft by Chris Columbus. Uh Christopher and Lovas. Zach, uh, I guess it's Lubvoski and Adam Stein.
So this is an old script, an original draft that was written for Gremlins 3 that is now being adapted by Hannah Marks into the new film. So if you know any of those people, that'll be kind of a big deal. I don't. Uh let's see. The original 84 Gremlins.
I have that this gonna be released November of 2027.
Yeah, it got delayed to October of 2028. Where are you getting your information? Literally, right now from Variety. Uh so that's a pretty good source on movie stuff. Okay, yeah. Uh and the trailer itself says 10, 628. Okay.
The director, Christopher Columbus, Chris described the script as twisted and dark, aiming to return to the macabre and scary tone of the original movie. Is it set during Christmas time? Uh-huh. Do we have a new Christmas movie? Who knows?
The first Gremlins was a box office smash. It grows 212 million worldwide and cost 11 million to make. The follow-up, Gremlins 2, the new batch, only made 41 million. Shocker. How much will Gremlins 3 make? I don't know. I don't know. We gotta watch the new the new batch. Do we? Yes. Is it set during Christmas? I don't know.
Well, maybe we can add it to the Halloween movie club. Sure. You're not. Why is this a club? Because you're done on the club. Why is everything a club? Because it's fun.
And why am I excluded?
all the time? Because You excluded yourself from that one. You said, May I recuse myself? And we said, Yeah, get out of here. You're not needed.
I never once in my life have said, May I recuse myself. I just want to watch a movie with my family and not have it be a club.
That's it. There's no other. It's just called a club. That's it. There's we don't have meetings. Maybe we'll bring some snacks sometimes, but you said I don't
want to make a couple of things. be a part of the club. Too much expectations. I don't want to be a part of clubs. I got enough organizations I'm part of.
There's no requirements needed. It sounds like it.
You said there's bylaws and memberships and dues to pay. It's ridiculous. There's all these rules about how you can and can't do things in the movie watching and the cinnamon rolls and the ice cream. I just I can't. It's too much.
I know. That's why you recused yourself. Get out. I'm I'm out. We were eating dinner last night. You made some uh sliders.
Yeah, little mini baby burgers. They were delicious. They were pretty good, yeah.
They were pretty good. You put some coleslaw on them.
Well, they have uh they had a coleslaw element to them. They also had, did you know what the sauce was on the bun? Did you ever figure it out? Is it a general so? General Sou's. So a general soce on it, and then the uh the slaw there, which had a I'm I don't know for sure what the dressing was. I think it was like a sesame dressing uh on there.
So it's very Asian kind of infusion sort of slider. Uh then just your it was a patty, but the the burger had a whole bunch of like a garlic uh scallion uh scallion kind of uh paste in it. So it was super heavy onion. I don't know if you picked that up uh as far as the flavor. And then uh yeah, there were little tiny baby burgers like that. They're pretty good, pretty tasty.
Our son had a fit because he didn't like the coleslaw. Yeah. Well, our daughter did too, actually. Correct.
Why are you putting vegetables on my burger?
You when you make food, you played up everybody's meal because you like I like a presentation. You do.
But I also think that if you're going to try the meal, you should experience all the flavors of that meal. So all of the pieces that it is supposed to have on it, you should have a bite with all the pieces that are supposed to be there.
So as you were plating Emery's meal, she said, no coleslaw on mine, please. And you said, Yeah, you have to try it with all of the pieces. Right. And she looked at me and she goes, I like it when you cook better. Because you let us make our own plates.
I thought it was good, Josh. I tried it with all of the pieces. It was our son had a fit because he didn't like the coleslaw. And he also, we had an argument about crispy food versus crunchy foods. Yeah.
And then he also didn't like the fry sauce that was for the potato wedges. Oh, I did. I did too. It had like a sriracha in it. It was a spicy mayo. It was good. It was good. I liked it. Me too. But you know, two of us like the food, and the other two did not.
He said he didn't like crispy food on his hamburgers. And I said, What about a pickle? And he said, Well, pickles aren't really crunchy. I go, if it's a good pickle, it is.
Right. And I said, What about onions? And he goes, No, if they're cooked, I go, Yeah, but you don't typically eat cooked onions on your burgers. You eat raw onions, and they are crispy. And he goes, It's more crunchy.
And then he also said they're not as crunchy as cabbage. And I went, What has happened? I sat in silence. I just didn't even. I was like, this is crazy.
I always tried to provoke a fight.
Yeah, you were. You were like poke poke poke poke, and I'm like, this is nuts. I'm just gonna sit here and eat my dinner. I don't need to be involved.
If you want to know the difference between crispy and crunchy, because I did you look it up? Just now. Okay, what's the difference? Crispy food is light, thin, and brittle. It breaks fast with a high pitched snap. Okay. Like a chip.
Yeah, a crispy chip.
Crunchy food is dense, thick, and tough. It takes more force to bite and makes a deep loud sound. Such as a carrot. Okay. That checks out.
I see the difference between a potato chip and a carrot.
Here is the difference between crispy food or like examples. Crispy foods. Potato chips, bacon. Yeah. And fried chicken skin. Yeah, absolutely. That's crispy. Okay. All right. Crunchy carrot. Nuts. Oh, sure. And granola.
Yeah, okay. I get it. And so when he says I don't like crunchy food. I'm gonna argue that an onion and a cabbage are both crispy, not crunchy. I would agree with you. 100%. Because they are not dense. Agreed.
I would I would say I would say the same.
I also asked him if he put chips on his sandwich, to which he said, Yeah, but a sandwich isn't a burger. And I went, all right. That is my one contribution to this conversation, and I'm just gonna eat now.
That is exactly how it went. And I went, oh.
I'm just gonna sit in silence because I have nothing more to say. A hot dog is a taco, technically. Because of the shape of the bun. Because you hold it like this. Right. And not with two hands.
Right. You hold it in the palm. I also don't hold a burger with two hands. You don't?
No. How big is the burger? I do. If it's big. Yeah, I do.
I'm trying to decide. Like if I get a big tall burger from a restaurant, like I might cut it in half, but I'm one hand in it. I'm not a two-handed burger guy. I don't know. It's a one-hand situation.
Are you a two-handed hot dog guy? No. No, I am not.
Two hands on a hot dog.
What about two-handed taco? No.
What about a two-handed donut? Oh. No. Oh. Oh. Okay.
What about an apple? Would you think that's crispy or crunchy? It said they're typically both when they're fresh and ripe.
Okay, but uh maybe if you're eating it in slices, it's crispy, but if you're eating it as an apple whole and you're just taking a bite, then that would be crunchy. I don't know. Because of the density. It's about density. You are my density. All right. Get your hands off her. How are you feeling?
Oh, I'm feeling swole. Okay. Looking swole and making gains. Okay. Listen.
I'm just gonna ground you for a minute. Because you've done two workouts this week. One last night, one Monday night. Yeah. And swole is on the way. But I just don't think look it. Yeah. Dude.
Come on. Maybe you are swole. See? Told you. Told you.
Careful. You're gonna rip your sleeves. Which you don't even have. Because you wore like a sweater vest. Yeah.
Because I went, I gotta show these puppies off. Mm-hmm. And by puppies, I mean my muscles.
No, we all know. don't know. Yesterday was arm day. Mm-hmm. So I did say how are they feeling? Because after leg day, you couldn't walk for a couple days. Actually, they feel good.
I mean, it hurts if I like raise them above my head and come down like this. That hurts. Okay. I was doing all kinds of stuff. I had to look up. So I have a sheet. Yeah.
Of different exercises and reps and so I was
looking what the exercises were, and so I was watching a bunch of videos, and now all I'm getting is workouts. Workout videos.
Now you were also uh telling me that you didn't necessarily know like form stuff. Right. And then you said at one point, how are these little exercises making me sweat so much? By the way, I was hanging out downstairs to be near you. Even though you probably wanted me to be elsewhere. Yeah. That's that's a recall from earlier.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. No, I get it. Yeah. I was doing tricep kickbacks. Okay. Because I'm working on my tricep. Oh, that hurts. Uh and then I had to do some shoulder presses and some dumbbell rows. And then I did some planking. Yeah.
How long were you supposed to plank for? Twenty. And how long did you plank for?
20 seconds. I did three reps.
So you did 60 seconds of plank. Yeah, I did. I can plank pretty good. I I'm pretty proud of my ability to plank.
Well, listen, I could probably do longer, but I'm it's it's a gradual build up, you see. You start slow and then build it up.
Oh, I get it. And you're not trying to max out moving your arms around hurts, doesn't it? Yeah. Yeah. It's because Careful, careful Look it Careful you're gonna fill the room with biceps here.
Yeah, it's gonna be the gun show. Careful. All right. Well, I said I weighed this morning. And I said, I it was higher today than yesterday. And I said, Oh, but that's because I'm making gains.
Sure, muscle weighs more. Yes, it does. Yeah. Making some gains. Okay. Are you weighing daily? Yeah. I always would go like every other week because I wanted to see bigger results. Okay. So I would I would weigh in like if I weighed in today. Uh-huh. I wouldn't weigh in again for two Thursdays. I understand.
But I get a little bit obsessive. Like I'm like, oh, I ate an apple yesterday. I must have lost 30 pounds. Oh man. And then I step on the scale, and it's like, no, you gained 50 bouts.
That's discouraging to me. I can't do that. I have to have some sort of progress. And and I want to see bigger changes. And so I don't weigh every day.
I know. I would I shouldn't be, but I get curious. So I did. I know. I everybody says don't wait. weigh. Hey, you do what you want. Everybody's like, it's more about what's on the scale. It's how you look, it's how you feel. It's it's your it's your inches. Hey. Hey. It's it's more than just about what's on the scale. And I go, I know.
Well, congrats on your arms. That's a big day.
Thank you. Do you want to arm wrestle? You can't handle this. You're right. You talked a little bit earlier about how they're coming out with a gremlins sequel.
Yeah, the third of a trilogy, I suppose. Gremlins three.
More upsetting news. They're making a Family Stone sequel. You love that movie. I know. That's a Christmas movie. And that movie just needs to, it needs to have its one. Yeah. It's done. It's done. It doesn't need a reboot.
And also How passionate about are you about this not getting a reboot? Very. Would you say you're on the same level as I am regarding Goonies? Yes. Yes.
Especially since in The Family Stone, Diane Keaton plays the mom. Yeah. And we lost Diane Keaton this year. Yeah. And I'm real sad about it.
Have you looked up the plot here? Yes. So it's 20 years later than after the original film, and the family reunites for Christmas. Uh-huh. Okay. And Gene Smart has come to the movie.
They've enlisted her to come to the movie, and she is going to be playing the matriarch of the family.
I see. And how are you feeling about that? I don't like it. All right.
I don't like it. Okay. And it's nothing against Gene Smart, but it is it just needed to be left alone in Diane Keaton's memory.
So most of the original main cast members are returning to reprise their roles. Rachel McAdams, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dermot Mul Mulroney, Luke Wilson, Claire Danes, Craig T. Nelson. I mean, everybody. I don't like it. Gene Smart. I don't like it.
Have I said that? I don't like it. Okay. When okay, it says 20 years after. There's no way that movie is 20 years old. Yeah.
I was looking for when the original. 2005. Yeah. No.
way. It is 21 years ago. Yeah. That's crazy.
Okay, yeah. They say that it's um. coming Yeah. Coming out. I don't know when it's coming out. Does it say? Do you know? No. Ugh.
Do you know that Gene Smart has not appeared in a movie since 2022? She is not been in a movie in a long time.
I understand, but she was just in a sequel. She was on a sitcom. Oh, okay. Yeah, what's what was that show that she was on just recently? I'm I'm not talking about designing women. The studio. Hacks Oh, okay. She was in that show, The Hatch.
I see that. Yeah, I see that. Okay.
Designing women. Did your mom ever watch Designing Women?
I think it was on, but I don't know that it was an act of watch.
My mom loved designing women. And it was a constant. Oh, I like that outfit. Ooh, you changed your hairstyle. I like that.
Okay. Probably influenced some fashion trends and some uh hairstyles. I'd imagine.
I do know that there was a lot of there was a lot of drama with the the actresses who played the women on designing women. Yeah. Delta Burke was like Oh. I don't know. There was some there was some drama happening. Okay. I just remember my mom talking to our friends about did you see designing women last night? What was Delta Burke doing?
This is what was these were the hot this was the hot goss at the bowling alley. Last night's designing women. Did you see hot gods? Spilling the tea at the lanes. Designing women. Yeah. Well, okay. Well, so I are you gonna watch it? No, I well, yes. Good good conflict you got going.
I don't want to, but I have to. It's been 20 years. I know, but you it's Diane Keaton.
I understand, but it's been 20 years. Not needed. Not needed. Okay.
I was talking to somebody the other day and they said that they knew somebody who when they were taking people back for an a job interview, they would purposely put garbage on the floor and they would walk the job interviewee past the garbage. And if the if the interviewee didn't pick up the garbage, then they would stop the interview and say, Oh, thank you for your time. And I went, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Because one, I'm not an employee there yet. I'm just there for a job interview. So if you're taking me past garbage at this new place that I've never been to before, I'm not picking it up.
Yeah, what is the garbage? And uh and is it I mean, obvious, right? Like if it's a little candy wrapper or something like on the floor, like I'm I'm probably not gonna do anything about it.
I'm not regardless, I'm not doing it.
But if there's like a like a napkin or something, or if they drop it in front of me to see if I would pick it up, if it's already laying there, like I'm gonna be like, why doesn't someone clean anything?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But if they were like uh had a napkin and they dropped it to see if you would be generous enough to pick it up. That's a little different.
That is different. And then I might do something if the if he was walking or she was walking in front of me and they dropped something. But if you're walking me past garbage that's already on the floor, I'm not touching that.
It's not my responsibility. Yeah, because I don't work here for one and for two, I don't know where it came from. I have no idea. I'm not picking up your garbage. Right. But if if you intent like intentionally dropped something to see if I would offer to pick it up and and some sort of weird test. Test. I I don't like stuff like that. Yeah. I get you. It's like a trap.
Now you've got an entrapment on me. And I'm not even hired yet. I don't like that. I don't like it. I don't I go, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. And he goes, really? I go, yeah, it's stupid.
Like I I can understand the concept behind it to find out like if a person has some sort of integrity or like awareness beyond themselves or something, but but why? But at a job interview. But why? I'm here to do a job.
I'm not even here to do a job yet. I'm here to have an interview to get a job. I don't know if you're yet. I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna step on anyone's toes and start picking up garbage. I don't know what that's there for. Yeah. This isn't my place of business yet. Right. That's dumb. Stop putting dumb tests out. All right.
You got some strong feelings about this one.
I do. Okay. Um yeah, he he brought it up. Uh and I went, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I go, I wouldn't pick up that piece of garbage, so I wouldn't go further in the job interview, so I'd automatically be done. And I'd be happier for it because what a dumb test. And he went, okay. Okay. That's all I have to say.
I'm glad you got that off your chest. They're feeling better.
Sometimes sometimes places of employment do dumb things, and I think that's one of them. If you do that, don't do that. It is dumb. If you do that, don't do that. Got it. Okay.
Uh we're gonna play a quick game. You're gonna need a piece of paper and a pencil. I don't even have that with me. Do you have a scratch paper? Yeah.
I had my notepad. I took it out of here. I've prepared myself for uh live broadcast later today. Who cut this? I'm kidding. That's a throwback to yesterday's show.
Yes, yes.
Okay, you have the biggest scissors in town to make your paper square. Go ahead. Okay. What am I writing now?
Um, you're not gonna you're gonna keep points. Oh, right. This is I'm gonna ask you 20 questions and you're gonna 20. You're gonna you're gonna take a point. This is to see if you could survive colonial America. Okay. Cook over an open fire.
One point for me. Chop firewood. Two points for me. Grow your own vegetables. Are you keeping your points? Um, sure.
I don't know if I can cook over an open fire. I can't even make a fire. I'm gonna say no. I okay chop wood. I'm gonna say one for grow my own vegetables.
Grow your own vegetables. I got three points.
Okay, sew clothing by hand. Four points. Ride a horse.
I don't want to do any of this. Five points.
I'm not gonna put that one down because horses are terrifying.
You can ride a horse. If somebody's leading the horse. Well, you can tie your horse to my horse and we'll just go for a ride. You physically can ride a horse.
I can. I don't want to because they have a mind of their own and they are smart. Okay. Use a compass. Yep. Sleep without electricity. Yep. Make bread from scratch. I'm sure I could. Carry water by hand. By hand. Yeah, you just cup it.
No, I can do that, but I think it means like in a bucket. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because there's no running uh water, no plumbing. So you'd have to carry it in a bucket. Right. Got it. Okay.
And you have to do that little pump.
Well, sure. If you if they've dug a well, you bet. Okay, right with you. I used one of those just a month ago. You did? Yeah. Why? That's how you get water at the trailhead on some of these hikes. Oh. Okay.
Right with a fountain or quill pen.
I've never done it, but I think I could. I think I could too. So I'm gonna say so far I've got all these. So far I've got 10.
I know you're doing your killer. I've got six. Okay. Preserve food.
Yeah, I gotta learn how. I know I can. Use I can can use an outhouse. Yeah. I don't want to, but I'm fine. I don't care.
Make candles or soap.
Yes, I can do candles. I've never made soap. Uh but I have made candles. Milk a cow. Yes. No, I don't want to. But you can.
Walk over 10 miles in one day. Absolutely. I have done that. I've got 15. You have done that?
You've walked over 10 miles in one day. Yeah. When? When we did the Palisades hike. That's you didn't go over 10. Yes, I did. No. Yes, I did. No, you did not. Yes, I did. Oh. Fine. You did eight.
And then we walked around more. Hold on.
When when we went with your sister and brother in law, that was four in and four back out. That's eight. Okay. When you went up to the upper stuff, that's only like six.
Fine. I took it off the list. I'm just saying. I get it.
Josh, I don't think you can't. No. Nope.
You can't just have it. I took it off the list. Repaired instead of replaced. Sure. Okay. Wash clothing by hand. Yes, boring. Done that. Uh caught or cleaned a fish. Yep. Navigate without GPS. Yeah, that's part of the compass. Gone a full day without a phone.
I have. Yeah, I can do all these. I got all 20.
I got nine.
I'd be fine. I don't want to. And I'm glad you didn't ask about hunting, because I don't think I could do that. I don't think I could do that either.
I don't think I have it in me to actually do that. And that's just me. I'm a catch and release fisherman. So even keeping a fish and cleaning it and eating it's gonna be hard for me.
Yeah, you have struggle with that.
So I might just have to catch them and hand them to somebody else. Be like, you do the dirty work. I caught it. You can do the dirty part. I can't do it. I don't okay.
I don't think I'd mind cleaning a fish. I don't think I could do it to an animal. But I I could clean a fish. I bet. If I knew the proper procedure.
Well, it's not tough. Like I've done it before. I just don't like it. Yeah. All right.
Well, congratulations. You can survive colonial America. Look at me go. Wow. I threw away my notepaper. Okay. I saw something yesterday that I thought was kind of cool. Um I had it pulled up and then I lost it. Okay. This is people say they're much happier after ditching these so-called quote unquote required things. Okay. So finishing a book, you start. You don't have to finish the book. And I learned this maybe just a couple of years ago. I slogged through so many books that I didn't enjoy until somebody was like, you know, you don't you don't need to finish that.
You there's not a book report due on that. If you don't enjoy it, just put it down. You don't have to finish it. I was trying to read Lord of the Re uh Lord of the Flies. Right. And I went, I can't do this. I put it down. I've never been happier. Oh, okay.
Is it because it was heavy?
Is it like just Not like weight.
sometimes you just can't get into stuff.
Like I and Sure, sure, sure. I get that. There's so many people that are like, you should read that book. It's amazing. And I was like, I just I can't do it. Yeah. Um somebody said, acting like adult.
I know that I'm required to, but I don't want to. I'm almost 50 and I play video games. I like to play Fortnite. Sometimes I run up the stairs on all fours like a dog. Sometimes I buy a happy meal because the toy looks fun. Okay. You can set your own rules.
You can. I mean, you just play. Sure. Now you have sometimes got the happy meal not because you like the toy, but because you like the portion size. Yeah. You've been like, this is enough of a meal. Yes. Yeah.
It's perfect. It's a perfect amount of food. Okay. Um, somebody said, use the fancy cups. And I've heard this before. Like life is short. Just use the fancy cups instead of waiting for the right moment.
Yeah, I've also heard people will say, like, uh, like drink the wine or the champagne or whatever. Because some somebody will gift it to you, and then you hold on to it forever and ever and ever, waiting for that special occasion. But then by the time that happens, it doesn't mean as much or something. So I think that's the same concept. Yeah. Uh excuse me. Use the fancy glass. Like it's this, yeah.
Just enjoy it. Somebody said, say no to website cookies. I always accepted because I thought I couldn't view the page.
I I reject.
One day I watched my friend decline and I was blown away. Yeah. I like to hit reject. I decline your cookies. Yep. Wearing makeup to run to the store. The other day I just didn't. And nothing bad happened. I know.
I say that all the time. I'm like, let's just run to the store. And you're like, oh, I look a mess. And I go, so what? Yeah, who cares? And you're like, but what if we see somebody?
Well, that was the dinosaur video you posted the other day. I went, Josh, I'm wearing a dirty shirt that my dog jumped up on me. Right. I have no makeup, my hair's not done. And you go, who cares?
I'm like, you're right. It's a very funny video. Who cares? Yeah, this is just real people. Who cares? Sorting laundry. Somebody said, I don't, I don't separate. I just throw it all in. Sometimes I even throw towels in there.
The washer doesn't go, no.
Who cares? You can buy a birthday cake and eat it anytime you want. That's true. Ditch all of these things that are required. Yesterday we talked about supposed to. Right. Just do what makes you happy. That's what I'm saying. Ditch that book if it's not enjoyable. Buy the birthday cake if it's not your birthday. Because guess what? What? It's your unbirthday.
A very merry end birthday to you. And to you. To you. And to you. All right. That was fun. Hey, would you rather this or that?
Would you rather go on tour with your favorite band or be on a film set with your favorite actor or slash actress?
Um that's interesting.
Who's your favorite actor?
Well, I'm trying to figure out like Jordan Gordon Lovett. That'd be fun. I think he'd be interesting to hang with. Yeah. Uh, because I think he's got like just the way he does filmmaking and stuff, I think is interesting. So I think it'd be like it'd be fun to learn uh some of that stuff. I want to learn.
Teach me. Um where like if I'm with a band, let's say uh like what's the average length of a tour, like for for a band I like. I bet it's like three months. Okay. Filming a movie is a longer than three months. So I think you know, I'm just trying to figure out how long I want to hang.
Okay, but also if you think about like hanging out on a film set, you get to separate at the end of the day. If you are touring with a band, more than more than likely you're on a bus and you're together all the time.
Here's the other thing. If you're on a film set, you're probably at like one to three different locations, where if you're on tour, you're all over the place. You get to see a bunch of the world. So um am I with the band currently, or am I with the band on their first tour? What? Am I with the band who's toured a bunch? Okay, and they've seen everything, okay, and they're probably a little jaded about it. Or am I with uh the band touring for their first time?
Is it okay? Is it your first time touring with them? Yeah, who's jaded? So you're seeing things with a fresh eye, but they're like, Right.
Right. Or I we're all seeing for the first time, and it's an all new experience. But I like the band and I've known them, and it's kind of a big deal. You pick Buckaroo. I want to see the film set world.
Do you?
I want to see how movies come together. I want to see what that's like.
I cause I just also want to, I think I want to go on tour with the band.
Yeah, but I want to see the movie Magic.
I do too, but I want to go on tour with the band. I want both.
I think I could, I think I could fit in on a film crew. I think I could be part of that world. I don't know where, somewhere though. I think I could fit in. I think I could hack that. Okay. I'm picking the band. I'm gonna go on tour.
I want the rock band life. All right.
Would you rather that Gen Z is asking?
Nay. Demanding. nay. All right. The millennials stop using L O L.
And uh instead use Ha ha ha.
something, not that. Ha ha. They're thinking that it's odd because it's not actually laughing out loud. Okay, and it comes across as uh passive aggressive sign-off. They say it feels dismissive, cold, or even slightly hostile, depending on the context. So they're saying either nothing at all or use a specific emoji, or just writing out what you actually mean. I see. They're saying that they should use we should use I'm a millennial, so I'm in this category.
I and I do use late Gen Z, early millennial. No, therefore late Gen X. That's what I mean. Late Gen X, early millennial. We are Xennial. Okay, well, I use LOL a lot. And so they're saying Stop it. stop it. I don't want to. How about that? How about I don't want to stop using it? Okay, then don't, I guess. Uh okay. Somebody said L O L.
I don't just use it at the end, I use it at the beginning as well. LOL. Oh. LOL. Listen to this. LOL. Okay. Somebody else said, I'll stop my LOL when you stop walking around with stars all over your face, looking my childhood ceiling.
That's very funny. Those pimple patches. I I saw there's an online debate going about is that worse than the pimple? And I don't know the answer to that. Is it weirder to have a little star sticker than to have a a zit? I don't know. I don't know either. Our daughter wears them. I know.
They she claims they work. Okay. I mean it's masking your pimple while also eradicating it.
The smell of those pads that I had to wipe on my face. I can still smell it. Noxema. Or clear cell or whatever I use to try to not look like a pizza on my face.
I always use Nagzema. Yeah. I can smell it.
It's what I'm saying. Like I know exactly what that smells like.
Do they even make Nagzema anymore? They sure do. Yeah. They sure do. Yeah.
So I use those. I didn't do the, I mean, they didn't have pimple patches. Do you want to hear a dramatic pimple patches. Whoa. Do I? Yeah. I don't know. It's the end of the show. Okay. No, go ahead.
Well, when I was in middle school, we were required to watch Channel 1 news.
That was your because you went to that fancy school. You had uh the CCTV with the student newscast and the No, it wasn't student news.
Oh, okay. It was Channel 1 with Lisa Ling, and it was actual news. Yeah, I know. I didn't know it wasn't that Berkley Junior High School is not a fancy school.
Fancier than mine. We didn't have that.
Anyway, there was commercials on there, and there was a commercial for Nagzema or Claire Cell or something. And there was a mean girl that looked at me and she said, Do you use that? Because maybe you should try it. And I went, that's a very mean thing to say. Did you say that? No, I should have, though.
That is a very mean thing to say. It's not nice. That is a not nice thing to say. Nope.
And look at that. I called her out. And look at that. And her name is Yeah, what is it?
Say your name. Let's call her out on the radio. That's what you said to me about the kids that whitewashed me in sixth grade in the snow. Don't be mean. Yeah, don't be mean. Anyway. It's gonna wrap up the show. All right. Have a great rest of your Thursday, tomorrow is Friday.
Oh, you go.
Yeah, hey, later on today. I'm gonna be hanging out in Rexburg. I am going to be at the Walmart in Rexburg from four until six because we are talking about locally grown produce. Nice. Yeah, it's uh Idaho Preferred Month. Ooh.
And uh all September long. So we're talking about locally grown Idaho goodness. We'll have uh a whole bunch of stuff going on there. So you can stop by and see me.
I'm gonna be there for a couple of hours at the Walmart in Rexburg uh this afternoon, four to six. So very cool. Yeah. Go see Josh.
Yeah. And have a great Thursday. We'll see you back here tomorrow. Goodbye.
