Are you running your business or is your business running you? Because in real estate, it's way too easy to let your clients, your schedule, and even your own ambitions take over your life. Welcome back to Realty Chatter Daily. Quick wins for realtors. I'm your host, Gary McGowan. And today we're talking about something every agent needs to master, boundaries. Because let's be honest, if you're answering texts at midnight and working seven days a week,
It's not just your business that's thriving. It's your stress levels too. Here's the truth. Setting boundaries doesn't make you less available. It makes you more effective. When you're constantly on call, you're not giving your clients your best. You're just running on empty. Boundaries protect your time, your energy, and yes, even your sanity. So you can actually enjoy the career you've built.
Early in my career, I had a client who called me every day. And I mean every day, sometimes 9 or 10 p.m. I thought I was being a great agent by always picking up, but honestly, I was burning out fast. One night after a 10 p.m. call about paint colors, I knew I had to make a change. The next day, I politely but firmly explained my business hours and reassured them I'd still give them 100 % just during reasonable hours. You know what? They respected it.
and our working relationship actually improved because I showed up more focused and refreshed during the day. Today's quick win. Start with setting boundaries today with these simple steps. One, define your hours, decide when you're available and communicate that to your clients upfront. Secondly, stick to your schedule. Respect your own boundaries, because if you don't, no one else will. Thirdly, use tools to help.
Set up an autoresponder or calendar link for after-hour messages so clients know when to expect a reply. See, here's the insight. Boundaries aren't about saying no. They're about saying yes to the things that truly matter. When you protect your time, you protect your energy and your ability to serve your clients well. And hey, if anyone gives you a hard time for not being available 24-7, just remind them, even superheroes take a day off, my friends. So let's make
today about protecting your time and energy. Set one clear boundary, whether it's business hours or a day off or even just a phone free dinner and stick to it. Your future self will thank you. And as always, stay motivated, keep laughing and keep thriving through real connections. This is Realty Chatter Daily. Quick wins for realtors where success is built on relationships.
