For solo professionals who want to make more and work less without hiring.
Hello and welcome to Ditching Hourly. I'm Jonathan Stark. The occasional need to make change is fascinating to me. What I mean by making change, of course, is the need to exchange a particular denomination of currency like a $10 bill for a different denomination like 10 $1 bills. To me, it's perhaps the most direct evidence that money on its own has no inherent value. The value of money is in what we believe we can get with it, not in the money itself. For example, a suitcase full of $100 bills isn't any use on a desert island. You need to be able to spend them to unlock the value that is contained. They have virtually no value unless you're going to burn them in a fireplace to keep warm. This is critical to keep in mind when you're setting a value price, especially one that you consider to be astronomically high. The money that you're asking for is worthless to the buyer if they can't exchange it for something of value. I'm going to say that again. The money that you're asking for from your client is worthless to the buyer if they can't exchange it for something of value. And if what you offer is worth significantly more to the buyer than the money that you're asking, then they'll almost always exchange it without question. Anything else would be against their self-interest. That's it for today. I'm Jonathan Stark, and this is Ditching Hourly. See you next time.
