What is Modeling Success?

Modeling Success is created to bridge the gap between talent and brand. Putting everything out on the table, addressing current situations and hot unspoken topics that are happening in the industry that need to change. We will address topics such as the models and brand's point of view on industry topics. As well as discussing success in the industry, what it is to be a model and what agencies and brands are looking for when seeking talent. Just because you get paid for pictures does not make you a model. A model is "a system or thing used as an example to follow or imitate". A model is someone or something one aspires to become, someone who works their butt off and is someone people can look up to. This podcast is here to assist Talent in learning pride and true tactics for success in the industry.

I, Rian Donatelli, will use my 25+ years experience within this industry to discuss all these topics and more through conversions and panels with other people in the industry from talent to brand executives to the venues and establishments that we are operating in. We are going to find some hard truths that need to be heard on all fronts.

Speaker 1:

You'll learn inside secrets. You will gain priceless knowledge directly from talent and booking agents perspective, and you'll receive training that has been a collaboration and a group effort between agency owners, brands, brand ambassadors, and booking agents. So we will be able to put all of our heads together, create this collaborative training of everything everyone wants brand ambassadors I A little bit about me and why I feel this is necessary. I, like I said, I've been in this business for 25 years. I have worked in sales, marketing, every restaurant position there is.

Speaker 1:

And I have seen a lot of things that I just shake my head about. Starting my own promotional modeling agency 20 plus years ago, now a full talent booking, agency, I see things happen that just are completely unnecessary. I feel it's just due to lack of knowledge. One of my favorite quotes is you don't know what you don't know. So in being in events and constantly seeing people representing brands, I ask a lot of questions.

Speaker 1:

I like to get to know the brands. And in my eyes, there is nothing worse than a promotional model or brand ambassador that is not educated. If you are representing a bourbon or a whiskey, you should know what the difference is between bourbon and whiskey. This is a solid prime example of knowing your products and doing your own education, or being trained by the agency, by the brand, maybe by those in the venue. You know, when you are in a venue representing a product, you should know items like the competitive brands, the packaging it's available in, the price point, what's going on on other nights of the venue that also relate to your brand.

Speaker 1:

So, it would be an example, when you show up as a promo model or a brand ambassador in an on premise account, this is a bar or restaurant. So an on premise account sells product by individual packaging that's opened. So you are typically it's like I said, a bar, a restaurant, there's a straw, it's a premade drink. It's not a closed package like a closed beer that you would get at the convenience store. So knowing the difference between on and off premise is very solid.

Speaker 1:

Also knowing your product. So is it a whiskey? Okay. Does that mean it's a bourbon? Because all bourbons are whiskey, but not all whiskeys are bourbon.

Speaker 1:

What does that mean? You should know the difference in your product. You should know how it's made. You You should know how long it's aged, the process of making it, where it's available in the on and off premise. So if someone loves this at Bob's Bar, where can they buy this to take home with them?

Speaker 1:

So knowing what grocery stores or chain accounts the brand is carried in, valuable. Do you need to go as far as knowing every SKU and every size package that it's in at that location? No, Not necessarily. That is hard to do because it varies everywhere you go. However, knowing which chain's accounts to lead them to for sales, that is the goal of a true brand ambassador is to not only represent and exude the brand culture, represent and deliver the brand message.

Speaker 1:

It is to create sales. And we do that with experience. So if you spend time educating someone, that is interested in your product, that might be a fan, that does potentially drink that alcohol or participate in that sport or whatever product you would be representing, you're talking to a potential buyer and you should create this experience to where they remember you next time they are in a store without you and they are going across the shelf. Maybe they're in a sporting goods store and you're representing Adidas that they come across all these shoe brands and remember their time with you with the Adidas brand. So that is creating a true experience for someone being a brand ambassador and creating another brand ambassador with this education you've just given them.

Speaker 1:

So you're in the account, you're representing a whiskey, you know, it's a bourbon. You also want to know what other bourbons are in the building, what the competitors are, what is in that same price point, or maybe what is a better product and at a lower price point. So knowing the pricing, knowing is that happy hour feature, is it a Tuesday feature? Is that why you're in the building because there's a special, maybe there's a new drink on their drink menu. What brought you to this account and what is the goal?

Speaker 1:

That is a crucial piece of being a brand ambassador. So you'll want to know these things. You'll want to know the packaging that it's served in. There's just so many more things that go into the true performance of a great brand ambassador and setting yourself apart from the competition and then increasing sales. How are you going to generate the most sales and create the most experience in the time that you're there?

Speaker 1:

You get about 45 seconds with every individual you encounter. And so how do you make that the most impactful 45 seconds? Do you have your pitch down? Do you know your 3 bullet points on the product? All of these things are so important.

Speaker 1:

And then if you're there on a Friday, but maybe Tuesday is bourbon night, can you be driving the traffic back that you're speaking to in the establishment back on Tuesday to help not only the establishment and their, foot traffic, but also to help sales for your product when you're not in the building. So thinking this entire process through and knowing this now, how can you go to work and be the badass that you are and create the most impact with all of your consumers, everyone you're working with, the people in the establishment? And another key point to always consider is asking the staff if they know why you're in the building, telling them what you're there to do, tasting them on the product, letting them know the difference between bourbon and whiskey as well, and creating mini brand ambassadors. So now you have an army of people supporting you in the account that you're in, and you can now have help with sales and creating that awareness of what that you're, what it is you're there to do. So all of these certifications that will roll out through TalentBook Masterclass will teach you not only the best ways to execute the role, it will also teach you how to excel in the industry, how to think outside the box on other positions you could be qualified for, and then trainings for those positions as well.

Speaker 1:

So I think that this is valuable for the industry. I think it's going to streamline process. It's going to bring everyone into a community where we're all working together. You know, a great friend of mine made a correlation to the Airbnb app. Airbnb app has everyone collaborating together and working together with full respect for each other's property, the booking, the rating, you know, how they treat the property, and also the needs of the people in the property.

Speaker 1:

So if we could come together and bring this community together, bridging the gap between talent and brand, which is what this podcast is all about, and giving everyone a platform to communicate effectively and be better. Make the industry better, make the message delivery better with brand ambassadors, create experiences for people with a purpose, having a goal and an outcome we're all trying to reach and strive together. So that is the goal of TalentBook Masterclass is to build a platform where there is a training and, educational space for those looking to get into this industry. Anyone who's interested in this industry can get into this industry. You have to be driven, you have to have integrity, you have to read, and you have to follow direction.

Speaker 1:

And I think a lot of these tools are already within adults. So for those out there that are looking to, you know, work independently, to have a variety of experience, to learn more than you ever knew you could about brands and business and execution and what's behind marketing and marketing strategies, this is a perfect job for you. If you're looking to make great money, run your own schedule and your own business, this is a great industry for you. Experiential marketing is fun. It's forever changing.

Speaker 1:

It's evolving. It's fast paced. It's different every day. Great money to be made. There's great revenue to be generated.

Speaker 1:

There's what people call the, quote, side hustle. I don't like that term. I like additional revenue streams. All of that is an opportunity, and we will teach you the way between modeling success podcast, which you're listening to now, TalentBook Masterclass, and everything that we can bring to the table. We do have a community page as well that can, be joined.

Speaker 1:

We will have live events this year in 2023, and we're just really trying to build the community, bridge the gap, create awareness, teach, provide the education, and see what we can make happen in 2023.
