Jane:

One of the nice things about being a woman is makeup. One of the bad things about being a woman is makeup. If you're of a certain age, like I am, you know what I mean because makeup can correct all kinds of little imperfections, at the same time, it seems like it gets increasingly difficult to work with makeup because it cakes in your wrinkles or you can't see to put your eyeliner on. You know what I mean? You've been there.

Jane:

Anyway, I was talking to a good friend of mine, Daniella Bell with Daniella Bell Beauty. I said, Can you help us women out? And Daniella is wonderful. And she said, of course I can. So welcome, Daniella Bell.

Jane:

It's great to see Thank you,

Daniela:

you. Thank you so much, Jane. It's always a pleasure talking to you and just sharing all I know.

Jane:

You. Well, you know a lot. And one of the things I wanted to start out with before, you're going to show us a whole bunch of stuff and you've got some products because I said, Oh yeah, name the products because women want to know what it is that But is one of the things that I think of, because of course this is ageless and being ageless in a way to me is like being up to date and outdated makeup can really put a damper on that. Am I right?

Daniela:

A thousand percent. I think you're absolutely right. Makeup beats, it can be really, really, it can be good for you or it can totally like break your look, you know? Truly.

Jane:

Yeah. So we're going to talk about some trends that are good for mature women, but I want to start out with just basic skin. I've been doing some things trying to improve my skin lately. And so what are things that you suggest in terms of skin prep, foundation? Let's just start with those two, skin prep and foundation that gives you a good base to start with, that doesn't look too cakey, doesn't look old, blah, blah, blah.

Daniela:

Yeah, I feel like as we are aging, one of the biggest factors I feel like I see when clients come to get their makeup done is that their skin is a lot more drier. As we age, our skin just gets drier and drier and drier. So like a big part of the makeup routine and why your makeup is gonna look amazing, it's only if you nourish your skin a thousand percent as much as you can. So that skin skincare routine is just as much as important as it is putting on makeup. So what's underneath is really what matters so that the makeup actually runs smoothly and looks a lot more flawless.

Daniela:

So I always start with my toner. So I can use, you can use whatever toner you're using at the moment. Toner is important just because whatever you put on afterwards is gonna absorb better. And if you're not like a very skin, routine, like step by step person like I am, I like one or two products and then go. Toner is important for me.

Daniela:

I always do that one and I do either a serum and a moisturizer or just a moisturizer, but I have to have at least one of the two.

Jane:

Okay. When you say toner, that takes me back to ages ago when I used to use, when I started out in TV, used something called Erno Laszlo products and they had a toner I always use Toners are great. I have on and off. Tell women what you mean by a toner and what's a good one.

Daniela:

So the toners can be like basically the, the base product that you're going to active. It's going to help you activate everything that you put afterwards. Either you do the toner or you can, you can also find it as an essence. So either one of the two are great. I feel like more of people now are using more of those essence, which is basically the exact same thing as a toner.

Daniela:

So I will show you what I'm using. This is the brand that I'm using. This is Rode, and this is basically called a glazing milk. So it's a great product to put on their makeup. You can use this honestly alone sometimes.

Daniela:

Like if you don't have time to put moisturizer and all the steps of your routine, you can just do this guy right after, as soon as you get out of the shower, it's amazing. It just honestly makes your makeup stick and stay so, so good. And it doesn't make you look dry.

Jane:

Okay. So I'm going put that in the show notes. So that's what we start out with and it's a road product. What then is your foundation next? And if so, You what you

Daniela:

can do your moisturizer. I will say, actually found this, like it's like a glazing, mist. So you can do either this guy or this guy. It's from the same brand, Rhode. I honestly like this one to make your makeup stay, like, as a primer, like, a one step.

Daniela:

And then this is more like that toner essence part that I was telling you. So you can do honestly, you can do either or.

Jane:

They all they both Which one do you like better?

Daniela:

I will use this one right here, which is the the the glazing milk. I will use this one if I'm not doing any other product and just that and then hop on to

Jane:

makeup. I figure you're

Daniela:

Yeah. Gonna do

Jane:

the right

Daniela:

If I'm being lazy, I'll just do that one. Yes. And then the other one can be like at the end when you're done with your makeup. But for serum, I love to use this brand and I've I've become a lot of a lot more as a organic kind of person in the sense of, like, when it comes to makeup, I try to go for, like, more clean ingredients, things

Jane:

like

Daniela:

that. Not all clean ingredient products are awful, so I will show you the best ones that also work with mature skin. So love these two products. This is by Kansho Organics. This is a beautiful serum.

Daniela:

I like to use the moisturizer first in this case, and then you'll do the serum afterwards because this serum is more of an oil. So you wanna do the lighter base first and then you do the oil after. So amazing product is a local brand as well. So love supporting, supporting local. And then I'll go to the foundation and this I'm

Jane:

going to put all these in the show notes. So women, if you didn't quite catch all the names, they're all going to be listed. Go ahead. I'm sorry, Danielle.

Daniela:

And this is the king, queen, whatever you wanna call it, a foundation. I found What is it? This is called La Prairie. It's a Switzerland brand. I love it.

Daniela:

I honestly have not found anything like this in the years and years of being a makeup artist that just looks incredible. It is expensive, but it's worth then define expensive, right? Like, I just feel like this is a product that is worth every penny. And if I'm gonna be putting this on my face every day, I want it to be good. I want it to have the benefits.

Daniela:

It has skincare built into your foundation plus, sunscreen, 15 sunscreen. So it has, you know, all the elements for you to just like put your makeup on and go outside or be on camera.

Jane:

So this is lot primary. What about the colors? Is it, does it have a variety Yes. Of

Daniela:

And my biggest suggestion to anyone looking to find the right match will be guys go to the cosmetic store. Either you can you can either go to, like, any of the big ones, like, you know, Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus, or you can go to, like, Cosbar if you're in Dallas, in the Dallas area, and they will have a rep testing and then telling you what exact color you are. I got the first one and it was like on the darker side. And then I got this one. This is like the perfect match.

Daniela:

So always have somebody test it out for you on your neck, not on the face because your neck, it has to match your neck. Okay. And this comes with that concealer as well. So you're getting two for one. It's a two for.

Daniela:

I get the two. And then it also has a little, brush. So the brush is actually really good to apply your concealer. And, I love the applicator of this. I wouldn't go like straight from here to the face.

Daniela:

I will go like from here to like the back of my hand and then with a brush you can apply. So that's kind of how we'll do it.

Jane:

When you apply your foundation, and I didn't see on that one in particular, do you use a brush, a sponge? What do you use?

Daniela:

I love to use a brush just to kind of spread the product. And then I do use a sponge that is slightly damped just to absorb any excess. The key for your makeup to stay on longer and for your makeup to look flawless and just like ageless is blending really nicely with a sponge after you did the brush. If you don't take off that excess product that just sometimes would just add like a very thick layer of foundation. If you don't take off the excess, that's what's going to look bad as the day goes by, because it's gonna start emphasizing on your pores, on your fine lines, because it's just sitting on top of your skin.

Daniela:

So if it's too thick of a layer, it's like, you're not allowing the foundation to dry. So it's like wet the whole time. So it's just sitting there. So the moment that you hug somebody or like, you know, do this or whatever, it's like everywhere. It's not on your face any longer.

Daniela:

So the thinner the foundation, the better.

Jane:

So you're going to put the foundation on with a brush. Then you're going to take your sponge, a damp sponge. And after your foundation is on, you're going to go, are you going to pat? What are you going to do?

Daniela:

So you're going to dab it. Basically, it's like a bouncing motion. You want to make sure you're dabbing when you do that. You don't drag it. That's very important.

Daniela:

I'm so glad that you pointed that out because a lot of the times people drag the sponge and when you're dragging, if you're doing this or this, you're taking off the product. We don't want to take off the product. We just want to blend and take off the excess product that sits on this, on the surface.

Jane:

Okay, so you're just going to be dabbing. Okay, we've got that. Okay, so that's your foundation. And I think we're going to do some trends next, what would you do then? What would be your next step after foundation?

Daniela:

I will do concealer and you can well do the one concealer that comes over here, which I love. It's a lot more on the creamier side. So I feel like if you're a very, very dry person, this is going to work beautifully on you. And a little bit goes a long way. I love to use this particular one.

Daniela:

This is by Hourglass and it's a liquid formula. I like this one because you need honestly like just like a small little dot underneath your, dark circles and it blends beautifully. And you can also blend it with the same sponge or you can do a brush. I like to do the sponge because I feel like it just spreads the product better. And the key for concealer, as we age is the less is more.

Daniela:

So like we used to think more is more. No, my darlings, as we age less is definitely more you want to do. We want to make sure that it's a concealer like this that has a lot of coverage. That way you can use a less amount and you can spread it really nicely. Big, big, mistake that we do when we do concealer is that we apply too much.

Daniela:

And then on top of that, we don't set it. So you have to set your concealer. And the only way you can set a concealer is with a translucent powder. I do love the translucent powder from La Prairie as well. That's the one that I personally use.

Daniela:

There's a lot of other ones that are, great. There's there's a brand that I've used for years in my clients when it comes to like on camera, it's by Ben Nye and it's like a theater makeup. Like it's super heavy, but it's like really, really good if you apply correctly.

Jane:

I've used Ben Nye forever because it's like the original TV and you need so little of

Daniela:

it. What

Jane:

I like is you just need a tiny bit of it. I'll link that also. And it will set your makeup, but you don't have a heaviness of powder. Yes.

Daniela:

It's honestly amazing. I do like the La Prairie one because I'm thinking like, well, I'm going to be using this every day and I'm already doing like skincare, might as well just like follow-up with like a high end good product, good quality product. So that's what I love.

Jane:

Okay. So one more question about concealer and then we're going take a break and we're going to talk about trends in makeup that are good for mature women so you can look updated. The question I have about concealer is, highlighter, concealer, interchangeable?

Daniela:

Because when I use

Jane:

the lighter product, which I would call concealer or highlighter, I go up in here because I think it draws the eye up some. Am I doing the right thing?

Daniela:

It's perfect. Yes. Right here. You want to apply it right here and right here. And you can extend it a little bit, but just make sure when you apply it, don't put too much.

Daniela:

That's like the main thing is like applying the smallest amount and really with your sponge, just connecting the dots and blending into the nose and outward and down. Always.

Jane:

Okay, I have one more question. Do you have a contour that you really like a lot? And my question about contour is I've read lately or I've seen on TikTok lately.

Daniela:

Yeah. Yeah.

Jane:

You get a little older, it's better to do like we talked about the concealer a little higher, but also the contour a little higher That tends to lift the eye. Is that right?

Daniela:

Yes, it tends to help you lift the eye and the whole face really. So what we're doing as we're aging is that our muscles are obviously weakening, so everything just kind of goes downhill. Okay. So what do do when you apply your contour? I like to use the Contour Stick.

Daniela:

This is by Wesman Atelier and the shade is Truffle, which works really good for anyone that's like medium to medium tan shades. They they even have darker than this. So I like this one. It's it's honestly so great, it blends amazingly. So basically what you do, you're gonna take it instead of going straight from here, which is a big no no for anyone that it's above 35, just because it's harder to blend, you don't need that much and it's just honestly too much product.

Daniela:

So it's better to just kind of tap like this and then when you blend, yes, key here is going from the top of your ear towards the corner of your mouth. So like creating like an imaginary line almost. And then from here, you want to go up. So never from here down, like you want to see like the whole of your cheek and then just from here, upward. So like never go underneath that because then that's, what's going make him drag.

Daniela:

This is what's going make your cheeks look

Jane:

I'm looking at myself to see if I do it right.

Daniela:

You're doing good. Yeah. Yours look actually really, really good. So basically when you smile, you want to see that it's like picking up everything and not like dragging or making you look like your cheeks start like right here, you know? So it's like up right here, right here.

Daniela:

And then don't bring it too close to the mouth. You kind of want to go from the outer corner of your eye and then just kind of like patting motion as well. So when you blend creams, the best way to do it is by patting. If you're doing the swirling or the left to right, it's not necessarily going to blend as beautiful as it can. If you just let the brush do the work, which is just patting like this, like press, press, press.

Jane:

Okay. Before we leave the foundation area, what about blush?

Daniela:

Blush is my favorite thing because if you don't have contouring and all of the other products in highlighting, if you do have a blush, I feel like that's just the key to like look youthful and beautiful. And some people, I feel like above the age of 40, they're definite we're definitely cutting products. So we just rather do one or the other. So if that's the case, do a blush. Don't do a contour stick, do a blush because that's really is gonna bring you, just like more of a youthful look and it's gonna immediately make you look radiant.

Daniela:

So this is another one of my very, very favorites. This is by Road as well. And the shade is Freckle. And I love it because it gives you an immediate glow. So like the same amount and the same way I was doing with the contour stick is the same thing.

Daniela:

You just like press and you can see immediately how it's giving you that beautiful glow. It's such a beautiful shade. And I, I, what I love the most is that it's just so easy to blend. So like, it doesn't look like you have to be there forever and ever. It's just like a nice little boost of color.

Daniela:

And I love to teach you this because I feel like this is gonna be something that when you do it, you're gonna notice a big difference. Always connect your blush with the nose. So like the big thing here as we age is that you just put pink right here. It's gonna make us look like China dolls and we're gonna look very old. So what we need to do is connecting, connecting the pink, the blush onto the nose and then like that.

Daniela:

Because when you naturally blush, you don't just blush on your cheeks, you blush everywhere, right? It just

Jane:

makes That's you interesting. More

Daniela:

it just makes you look more radiant and you just gives you

Jane:

a little color and we all could use a little blush, particularly as we get older.

Daniela:

Yes. And two, if you don't feel like doing eyeshadows, blush over your eyelids. It's honestly really beautiful. If you just have your eyelids, like a little bit of blush on your eyelids and your mascara or your lashes, that's all you need.

Jane:

So for a woman who's looking for a really simple routine, if you just did your basic skincare, your foundation, and then what you're saying is even don't go with the concealer, just do a little blush and go over your nose and your eyelids, and that's going to give you a fresh look.

Daniela:

Yes. In some cases, honestly, some of the times I don't do concealer. If I'm doing this, like example, if I'm going to the gym, I'll just do like my little place mist. I'll do my little blush, my little mascara, and then I'm going. So I don't feel like I don't have any makeup on, I'm also like natural looking.

Daniela:

But if I am going somewhere like as, you know, like, let's just say I'm going to work and I also don't wanna use too many products, I still will do concealer. I wanna say then concealer is one of the things that I just wouldn't just skip because I feel like it just helps you look more awake and lifted. So concealer, it's for me, it's like I will rather do concealer than blush. You know what I mean? Okay.

Daniela:

Okay.

Jane:

Outdated makeup can be maybe one of the most, just not fresh and new things you can do, maybe even more so than clothes. So, Daniella promised me that she had some trends for women our age that are going to be uplifting and fun and modern, but appropriate for our age.

Jane:

So Daniella, what do you have?

Daniela:

You know, I hear a lot of the times that people, when people come and do and get their makeups on with me, they're just like, Danille, like, I hear that, you know, at a certain age, you should not use any shimmers. Okay. That's, like, so wrong. You can totally do shimmers. It's just where you put them.

Daniela:

And I definitely wanna show you where exactly you're gonna do a shimmer after after, you know, a certain age. This is the palette that I picked for you guys. It's they're all neutral colors, which I think everyone should own a neutral palette. By neutral, I mean, just like warm tones, like nothing crazy. I feel like this particular palette goes with most skin tones, most eye colors, like it just compliment literally every race.

Daniela:

So like, just know that this is like a very much like a have to have on your, you know, makeup drawer. What is it? This is by Patrick Ta and it is called Major Dimension Eyeshadow Palette. This is honestly one of my favorites of all times. I use it all the time.

Daniela:

I use it for myself. I use it. I have it at the studio in my makeup kit. It's just a moss. It's just natural, neutral tones, neutral tones and also, like, a few shimmers.

Daniela:

So when, you're trying to do a shimmer, which totally can, like for an event, or you just feel like a little sparkly that day, why not? You just want to take it. I like to use, my fingers for this part and I like to take the shimmer and then just press this on the lower eyelid. So you'll go right here on the lower, like on the blinker eyelid. So like, it just adds a nice little sparkle there without being overwhelming and too just in your face, but you can totally do that.

Daniela:

It doesn't matter if your eyelids are a little bit more grinkly. I feel like this really helps to kind of disguise that even a little bit because it reflects light. So it doesn't like enhance the grinkles as much if you do with your finger. If you put it with a brush, you're gonna get a lot of that fallout everywhere. And that's something that can really age us when we're not being clean with our makeup.

Jane:

Okay. So when you so if you use a little bit of shimmer on your eyelid, do you use it all over your eyelid? Do you use it just in the center? And are you looking for a lighter kind of color? Like I saw a peach in there that would be perfect.

Jane:

I love that You

Daniela:

can honestly do. Yeah. You can honestly do any of the shades that are here, even this bright, bright one. It honestly doesn't matter. If you want something more smoky, then you can do the bottom one that also has like a little bit of a shimmer.

Daniela:

I love this color. Where you apply it is literally right underneath that crease of the eye. So, like, don't go past the crease up. You gotta go from the crease in. Like basically on that mobile eyelid, so like right on that eyelid, that the blinker, I call it, right?

Daniela:

Like the one that blinks, the ones that go up and down, that's the one that you want to press the shimmers on. I'm not going too high up because then specifically for someone like me that has hooded eyes, it's going to enhance the hooded eyes and it's going to make me look more swollen. So you can do shimmers, but just make sure that they're in the lower eyelid underneath the crease.

Jane:

I feel like I've been hearing about hooded eyes everywhere lately. I don't know what it is. It's like hooded eyes are all over the place. I'm sure there are women watching who have hooded eyes. Any tips or tricks?

Daniela:

You know, as we age too, our eyelids start to just do weird things, So

Jane:

yeah, The it's top part falls a little bit, so we all have hooded eyes.

Daniela:

Yes. It's almost like, it's almost like, you know, a thing that just happens after a certain age and like, then you have to look for other remedies. But I wanna say that for hooded eyes, the more you enhance the crease area and under with a deeper tone, the less traction and attention to the hood is gonna happen. So by that, I mean, grab a, brown color, like a neutral color, like the one I have on today is this one right here. It actually doesn't look as dark here that it looks like on my eyelid, But basically you start on the crease area and all you're gonna do is this like windshield wiper motion right here.

Daniela:

And then you can even intensify more of the lower eyelid with that color underneath and then just kind of clean your brush on your hand. So that's not too much product. And then here, all you gotta do is just blend the the, excess product and the edges so that it's not harsh and come and bring it out and just make sure that you're diffusing the color, but definitely use a darker. You can even use a, bronzer. If you have a bronzer at home, like any bronzer will definitely do the trick.

Daniela:

If you don't have a whole light shadow palette like I have, I have this beautiful bronzers. I'll I'll give you the the names because they're honestly universal and they're beautiful. But if you just do a bronzer all over your eyelid, that honestly, if you have hooded eyes, just do that. And I promise you is going to eat that excess skin and it's just going to look a lot more polished and less swollen.

Jane:

That's interesting. Okay. So if I use the darker color and that is going to help with the hooded eye. In my case, my eyes are really, really round. And one of the things I do is I always pull the shadow or whatever you're going to use out some out and up toward my eyebrow because that elongates my eye.

Jane:

Do you use the same product just to do that then?

Daniela:

Yeah. So like basically once I concentrated the product right here, my next step will be extending and like kind of blending this outward towards the brow so that it just gives me a pull.

Jane:

Can I add one thing here? Don't go down. You wanna go up toward the brow that it's kind of in line with your cheekbone where it's all making it's an optical illusion. It's all making the eye go up. Right?

Daniela:

Yeah. Makeup, it's all about placement. So where you place it, it's really gonna make a big difference. So if you put it like, you know, you can have the most beautiful products, the most beautiful everything, but if you just are not understanding that we are trying to lift instead of drag down, then that's the problem. So always make sure that from this little end, like from your outer corner, you wanna connect it upward to your temple.

Daniela:

I'm not saying the brow because some of us don't have, you know, those long brows to go to. And if that's the case, just come to me for microblading, and then we'll arrange that issue. But, like, from here, you want to go towards your temple, like always upward and not like up and like a vertical, like you don't want to do this, but you want to go like slightly, you know, towards your temple. So like right in between like your ear and like, you know, the higher point of your brow.

Jane:

Right. Okay. Can we talk about brows? You just said, I mean, that's one of the main things you do and I know that thinning brows can be very aging. In terms of trends, what do you do at this point that is modern looking and at the same time helpful with thinning brows?

Daniela:

You know, pencils are great and all. I just feel like you always have to remember to brush or comb through the pencil. A lot of the times people just kind of like pencil in and fill in too much too much and then the brow just looks very intense. I have a lot of brow hair so like for me, all I do is just like a brow gel and then just, you know, add a little color in there and then done. I sometimes do like, when I'm doing on camera stuff, I do add a little bit of pencil and then the then the gel.

Daniela:

But there's also products like this that basically are like a little pomade that come with, a little brush. And I wanna show you, what they are. So these are also great because you can just create that line underneath and follow your natural brow and then just kind of come upwards. And they're they're great products. Now, the thing here is when you don't have great brows and as we age too, it's important to know, like hair starts falling off.

Daniela:

Like I noticed that literally today and I was almost like ripped my eyebrow because I don't know what happened. I have a chunk where there's no hair. And I'm like, are you kidding me? Because I've always had like a lot of brows. So I do feel like that happens with aging.

Daniela:

And one of the things that you can do to basically fix that issue is get microblading done. That's what I do. And I honestly love that I get to save so many faces because brows and hair indeed is a sign of youth. And if you have hair on your head and in your brows, I feel like that immediately just makes you look so much younger than what you are.

Jane:

So for a woman who's never really considered microblading, can you just real briefly explain the process, how much it costs? It probably depends on what you're doing in terms of how much it costs, but how long does it last, all that kind of stuff.

Daniela:

So the base price, so like the starting point is $850 for your first session. It's like getting basically a syringe of filler in your lips, but it will last you up to a year. And what you do is it's a it's a semi permanent tattoo. That's what it is. And it just create and replicates the illusion of hair strokes and it fills up very nicely.

Daniela:

So when you wake up in the morning, you already have brows. You don't have to spend hours of your day trying to make sure that left and right are matching. It just basically you just basically have already the shape and as it fades, all you gotta do is just comb them up and fill in what I already did for you. So it's a lot easier, a lot cost effective because you're not gonna be using as much brow products and then time saver, you know, you wake up and your brows are there and they're the right shape. One's not looking higher than the other, you know?

Jane:

Okay. Let's go from brows to lashes.

Daniela:

Yes. And

Jane:

I think a lot of women may just wear lashes for special occasions or maybe they would like to, but it's very, very intimidating. And I'm going to be honest with you, lashes are kind of a pain. Mean, I had to wear them every day on TV and they're sometimes difficult to put on. As you get older, if you have any dry eye at all, lashes, the glue and everything can be very irritating. I mean, I found myself a lot of times carrying around a Kleenex, which I have right here, just in case, you know, because they're not good with dry eyes.

Jane:

So how can you have lashes, but also that work and aren't just too much trouble?

Daniela:

Yeah. I, I, as you know, I have a lash line and the main thing I wanted to do is like tackle those issues when it comes to like one, you being intolerant to applying glue because the glue is just making you itch and it's making your eyes water and it just feels like you just want to rip off the lashes immediately and you don't want to have them in your eyes

Jane:

any longer. Yes. Know that feeling well.

Daniela:

Yeah. It's like literally coming home and wanting to take all of your clothes off. It's basically like that feeling. Want to take off your lashes. You don't want to wear them So I developed these lashes that I am so sad that you don't have them in your hands right now, but you will.

Daniela:

I will make sure that you get them.

Jane:

And I'll just show them on social media.

Daniela:

You will. I feel like you'll be so happy with them and so hooked, especially for people that's on TV that you're always constantly wearing lashes. Like, it's like your day to day thing. These lashes can stay in your eyes up to five days. Like, you just don't want to get them wet.

Daniela:

That's the key. So like, it's like basically, you know, wiping on their, on the top of your eyelids and just don't get the brows, the lashes wet, sorry, not the brows. And so what you do basically, there's like a bunch of little clusters and these are pre glued. Like if you have issues putting on lashes because of the glue, you won't have to battle with glue anymore because the glue it's already in here. And I wanna show you how easy these are to apply.

Daniela:

I'm actually gonna put a cluster just to show you, But you just need, I only have three little clusters on my eyes. So if I look down, you're gonna be able to see that there's no seam. Like you can't even tell that I have false lashes on. I can't. That's the, that's the main thing is like, you're gonna stick them underneath your lashes, like right underneath your waterline.

Daniela:

And I like to actually, this is a tip that I wanted to give you for anyone that it's, that feels like it's looking older with makeup. If you apply black eyeliner, like any cold black pencil on your tight line. So the waterline right underneath the lash line, if you do it there, you guys immediately, you will look younger because as we age two, our tight line starts thickening. So our actual waterline, as we age, starts looking wider and wider.

Jane:

Interesting. Didn't know that. Yeah.

Daniela:

So like try that and then you'll see that your lashes will look fuller immediately. Like, even if you don't do mascara, just do it's like doing eyeliner, but interior inside your waterline. So not exterior, like not out here. It's just, like, inside. And it makes your eyes look bigger.

Daniela:

And if you have hooded eyes, don't put eyeliner all over the eyelid. You just do it on the very end, like a little tail, like I did, nothing else. And then you do the waterline and that just opens up your eye and don't make your eye look swollen and, you know, too hooded. So, okay. Back to the lashes, you guys, the way you take those lashes, because there's a small learning curve, which is nothing.

Daniela:

You laugh. If you can stick a sticker, you can stick those lashes. It's not anything major. Like if you have a good, like magnifying mirror, I feel like if the problem is that I can't see, okay, get a magnifying mirror and then just make sure that your elbows are like somewhere where you can put them down so you can pick up the eyelid and then just apply the cluster. Okay.

Daniela:

So I'm doing this with my elbows here just to kind of show you, you're gonna bring the lash up to the eyelid and you're gonna apply it right underneath the root of the lashes. And if you have your hands steady, that's foolproof. There's no way you're gonna be like, oh, it's moving. It's not moving. It's it's just nowhere you can go.

Daniela:

So like, if you ever have an issue applying lashes, your elbows needs to be need to be steady somewhere where you have completely complete control of where you're placing your lashes and the new hands not shaking. Okay. If you're trying to do this and your elbows floating, key number one, like it's never going to happen because nobody has, I don't even have that steady of a hand. You know what I mean?

Jane:

Now you tell me after all these years.

Daniela:

After all these years. I'm sorry. So what you do is basically you scoop the little cluster here. You scoop it outside the box and it's going to look like something like this. Look how cute And these they don't look plastic.

Daniela:

It doesn't look like doll hair. I like that because too much

Jane:

of a fake lash can look too much as we age. I think it's nice to have just a little something extra that is useful, but not too much.

Daniela:

So I agree with you. I like to see people that wear extensions of over 45, even 50, like I've seen them, but then I just feel like, man, I can tell you have extensions and it's just so intense. So I'm not saying that that's wrong to each their own. If that's what you like, that's fine. But if you try something that's like a lot more lightweight, it will actually make you look younger.

Daniela:

Right. And not like a mature woman trying to, trying too hard to put on lashes. Like, these are just like small little enhancements that you will do to enhance that beautiful face that you have and not to overpower your eyes. So don't overdo it with the lashes if you wanna look younger. If you love the look by all means, but I'm just saying.

Daniela:

So basically, because it already has the glue in here, all I'm doing is just basically picking up my eyelid upward like this. And then I already have three clusters in here. So I'm going to apply this other one, like as close as possible as I can into the lash root right here. So I'm not touching the waterline. I'm doing it in the actual root of the lashes.

Daniela:

So that's already there. And all I do is just basically squeeze and release. That's it? That's literally it. That's it.

Daniela:

And you don't feel them. It doesn't feel like you're wearing anything. Like you can even squeeze them with your fingers if you want. It just doesn't feel like anything. If you feel them, that just means that you stick that on the waterline and it can be a little pokey, but then you'll know that that's not correct.

Daniela:

So what you'll do is you'll just pull it up a little bit more and then kind of glue it more towards the lash root. And that's literally all you do. And then you can keep them like this for five days.

Jane:

That is genius. Instead of, instead of getting your glue, putting your glue on your finger, putting your finger on the lash line. I mean, I've done all this.

Daniela:

That is a one.

Jane:

Me some. I want They're to try

Daniela:

on the way. They're on the way. You're going to get them. And I swear like, all you need is this stool that already comes in here. So you don't need anything extra.

Daniela:

And you get about like, honestly, like about 10 pairs of 10 sets of lashes here. I most of the times just do three little clusters. I did four on this side and then three on this one. So you can see the small difference there. Like this one just looks a little bit fuller than this one, but honestly you can, you can just pick and choose whatever you want to do.

Daniela:

Sometimes I just do two in the outside when I want to like lift. And you were talking earlier about elongating your eyes. If you just do little outer corner lashes and yeah, think you've done those. Those are

Jane:

I have sometimes. So Only what you have to do a lot of times is you have to buy the whole lash and then cut it up. This gives you the little segments. So let's say you want to just, and I saw a big time model one time on TikTok and she was saying, that's what she does. Just does a couple of lashes at the corner and it gives you that lift and you're done.

Daniela:

Correct. And honestly, like what I love about this too, is that it comes in different sizes. So like, let's just say one day you just feel a little bit more glamorous. Then you can go with a longer size and then maybe you just don't wanna go too crazy for like the gym or errands. Then you can just do like, you know, a 14 millimeters versus a 16, but it's, there's options here and they're all so good.

Daniela:

They all look so great. And they're just honestly so revolutionary and so easy to put on. Like if you ever had issues, you're going to come in like, thank me for this.

Jane:

Jane:

My lashes are on the way. Daniella has promised.

Daniela:

Yes, they'll get away.

Jane:

I'm going to try them and I'll show you on social. And I asked you specifically to talk about products today because I think we all want to know, but what do you use? And you've got a favorite five products. I'm really curious what these are.

Daniela:

Okay. My very first favorite is going to be this foundation. I swear to God, I cannot tell you how good it is. When you try it, you're going to be like, oh, she was right. It was worth it.

Daniela:

It's just great. It just looks like a double skin. It doesn't look like foundation. It just looks like that's just how beautiful your skin is.

Jane:

Going to the store this afternoon seeing this.

Daniela:

You will love this. This is, this is by far number one. This, then my second favorite will be my concealer, which is this hourglass concealer. Small amount goes a long way. It doesn't crease.

Daniela:

It doesn't look cakey. It doesn't look bad. It doesn't make us look older and crazy and crinkly. So for that reason, number two. Then my third one is gonna be this beautiful blush.

Daniela:

This is a Chanel blush that I honestly feel like it's just so gorgeous because it has it's like two in one. Like, gives you like the nice little color, but it also gives you the glow. And it's very similar as the one that I tried earlier, but I just like this one too, because you can use it for the lips. So it's like a lip and cheek situation. So not that this other one, you can, you can also use it for lips, but I think this one's better just for the cheek where this one stays better.

Daniela:

It's more of a stain almost.

Jane:

All right. And one quick thing, obviously a cream blush is going to work better than a powder blush as you get older.

Daniela:

Yes. The only thing when you are filming, you don't want to be too, too shiny. So it's important that you, do your pressed powder in the right places so that you can still look and have a glow. But when you're on camera, don't wanna be shiny all over. So make sure that you use, a right amount of blush.

Daniela:

That's good. You can be glowy there, but make sure that you're modifying the rest of your skin with your translucent powder. That way it's not too glowy everywhere and it just looks like you're sweating. Set set that face. Okay.

Daniela:

Okay. My next is going to be a bronzer that I feel like it can also be used as eyeshadow. So because it's so multipurpose, I definitely like to recommend it to you guys. This is by Victoria Beckham and it has two shades in one palette, which I love because this one can well be a bronzer and the other one can be well a eyeshadow. So like these two shades also combined are beautiful.

Daniela:

If you're trying to, set your contour stick and just have a little bit more of a prominent bronze look. So like for camera, you will do your regular stick that you're doing, your contour stick, but then you must set it so that it stays and it lasts longer. Otherwise, if you don't set it, the contour can rub off and, you know, make a mess and just kind of look a little muddy.

Jane:

So you use the bronzer for eye shadow and to set your cream bronzer? Your cream bronzer. Your cream contour?

Daniela:

Contour. Okay. Yeah. So it is just such a great shade. Like this one, honestly, it's a shade four.

Daniela:

Swear by it. It's like one of my top, top favorite products. And then of course, I guess my fifth is gonna have to be the lashes because can't live without this. For These are honestly just so cool. So,

Jane:

any tips? So, Daniella, before we wrap things up, other major tips that women need to know as they age that will give them an ageless, which I consider modern makeup look? Anything you're seeing out there or just anything in general?

Daniela:

Yeah, I want to say that a big thing of what I've been seeing lately, like on clients that come and you know, I can, and they ask me of course, like, Hey, what do think about my makeup? And this and that. I feel like one of the biggest thing that I see is that people is not taking the time. Look at this. This is very important.

Daniela:

You gotta take the time and really devote yourself those five to ten minutes to blend your makeup and to make sure that everything looks like it's coming from within the skin and not, it's not slapped on top of your skin. Okay. And a lot of us just don't know how to do that. But that's why it's so important to like, make sure you watch tutorials. Like I do tutorials all the time and I like seriously go and break down every bit of everything so that you guys can understand it better.

Daniela:

Like, take your time. I feel like that beauty routine for every woman should be spending five to ten minutes for yourself and just really devote that time to make yourself look glowy and beautiful and blended. And then that will boost your confidence. Will immediately make you look younger because you don't feel like, oh my gosh, I'm old and my makeup sucks. You know, like it's like, oh my gosh, I'm older, but oh my gosh, my makeup looks better than that 20 year old.

Daniela:

I don't know what she's doing, you know, because she hasn't invested the time. So take the time for yourself.

Jane:

So if you were running out the door in the morning, like you said, like you're going to the grocery store, you're going to the gym, you're going wherever and you want makeup in five minutes, what would you, what would be your primary things you'd put on?

Daniela:

Number one, your glazing mist just because it has it's like that toner, but it also has like the show glowy look component into it and it'll make your makeup stay on better. So, but if I'm at the gym and I'm not wearing makeup, it just makes it look like you have something on, like, because it makes it look like a, like shiny. So like, it just looks like skin. So it just looks plumped and beautiful. So I will do that one.

Daniela:

Then I'll do my blush real quick, blend it with the patting motion that I show you

Jane:

and And then I'll I

Daniela:

will do lashes. I will do like a, just like a couple of clusters at the end because you don't have to wear mascara. So I know that it's not going to, you know, run underneath my eyes and smudge. I'll just do a few lashes. And then of course your lip balm or your lip liner, which is all I did today was just a little lip lip liner.

Daniela:

And then this beautiful stick that is like a highlighter that you can use as like a multipurpose one that you can use all over your, cheeks, or you could also use it for your lips just to kind of give yourself a glow. But it has a little bit of color too. It's like a pinky tone.

Jane:

So Who is that?

Daniela:

This is by Westman Atelier as well. Westman Atelier is known as a clean beauty. So like, it's good for us women that are wanting to get rid of all the chemicals and stuff that we put on on the daily.

Jane:

Daniella, thank you so much. It was so good to see you.

Daniela:

So great to see you always.

Jane:

Great stuff for us as we head into spring. This is a good time to freshen up that makeup look and make things look young and spring like. So great to see you. Thank you, Daniella. I'm going to put all your information, your social handles, all the products in the show notes, because I know women are going to want them.

Daniela:

For sure. Thank you.

Jane:

Daniella is such a sweetheart that she volunteered that if you have any specific questions you want to know, put them comments in about makeup in general, and then we'll do another session not too long from now, and, she'll give us some more great makeup tips. As always, you for watching today or listening. I really appreciate you. I love what I'm doing, but none of it's possible without you. So thank you and have a wonderful day.
