Generations

Peter and Aubrey work through all 37 official MCU films on Peter's custom tier list tool, placing each from S down to D with no shortage of strong opinions along the way. The results are roughly what you'd expect from two Marvel fans who still remember opening-night midnight showings — Thor: Ragnarok and The Winter Soldier are untouchable, Eternals and Iron Man 2 are not. The episode also touches on the MCU's recent creative upswing (Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four), the ongoing wound that is Secret Invasion, and a pre-show check-in that includes Aubrey's genuinely harrowing week of tornado evacuations in Madison.

SHOW NOTES
  • Check-in: Peter escaped a work trip in Austin early by paying $75 for a same-day flight change — no business casual required, shorts were involved. Aubrey's week involved actual tornado warnings in Madison, a mid-workday shelter evacuation with her kids, and baseball-sized hail; she later raced home with Hayden to beat a second tornado approaching from the west. Friday brought a school district preemptive cancellation and, fortuitously, weather pay.
  • Episode setup: With Avengers: Doomsday trailer apparently shown at CinemaCon (not yet public), Peter thought it was a good time to tier-rank all 37 MCU movies using his custom tier list tool. He and Eden did a bracket format on The Middle of Culture previously, but Peter prefers the tier list because it doesn't force unfair head-to-head matchups.
  • S tier (locked in): Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter notes The Winter Soldier is probably the best MCU film, even if not his personal favorite; No Way Home earns its S on pure emotional impact, despite Homecoming arguably being the tighter movie. Both agree Infinity War is the stronger film over Endgame.
  • A tier highlights: Black Panther, Black Widow (Aubrey advocates for it; Peter concedes despite CGI complaints), the original Avengers, Civil War, Endgame, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four: First Steps, Guardians Vol. 1, Homecoming, Ant-Man, and Iron Man 1. Peter is bullish on both Thunderbolts ("hits emotionally a lot harder" than Fantastic Four) and Fantastic Four ("it's got the juice").
  • B tier: Guardians Vol. 3, Wakanda Forever, Spider-Man: Far From Home, original Thor, Guardians Vol. 2 (Peter's least favorite of the trilogy, despite online discourse claiming otherwise), Deadpool & Wolverine, Captain America: The First Avenger, Doctor Strange, and Shang-Chi — though Peter notes Shang-Chi gets docked for Marvel's failure to do anything with the character afterward: "My boy Shang-Chi deserves better."
  • C and D tiers: Age of Ultron lands in C; Iron Man 2 in D ("you can't enjoy the experience of Iron Man 2 ever again"). Eternals earns a D with Peter suggesting he might genuinely prefer Iron Man 2 over a rewatch. Brave New World lands in D simply because neither of them has had any interest in watching it — the tier list as disinterest metric.
  • MCU fatigue and cautious optimism: Post-tier-list conversation touches on the post-Endgame drop-off in quality and excitement. Aubrey recalls having a nightmare the night before the Endgame midnight premiere that they couldn't go see it — that's the level of hype she wants back. Both see Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four as signs of an upswing heading into Doomsday.
  • Secret Invasion tangent: Peter revisits his custom-built tier list feature (a bonus below-D tier for truly irredeemable content) — originally created for DC's Black Adam, but Secret Invasion is the MCU equivalent. Six episodes and rage-quit; he says it soured him on MCU TV generally, leaving him behind on Loki S2, What If S2, Echo, and Daredevil Born Again.
  • Tease for next episode: Aubrey mentions she already has an outfit planned to go with next week's topic.

What is Generations?

A father and daughter discuss life across their generations. Science, medicine, music, and whatever else they choose to discuss are on the table.

Aubrey
00:00
I had a dream we couldn't go. I was so upset. That's how excited I was for the movies. And I just I want that again. Well, welcome back to Generations. I'm one of your co-hosts. Aubrey.

Peter
00:24
And I am your other co-host, Peter.

Aubrey
00:26
How are you, Dad?

Peter
00:28
I am well. How are you?

Aubrey
00:30
I'm good. I got mom over here sleeping. In my house. I love that.

Peter
00:36
I'm glad that she's out there spending time with you.

Aubrey
00:38
Yep. It's been super fun to have her here.

Peter
00:41
We both had little trips. Uh Hers was a little longer and I think more fun than mine. I had to blitz down to Austin. And I'll be honest, it was good. It was a good meeting. But by like Friday at 1130 or so during lunch, I was looking at what was being talked about in the afternoon and I was like, I just want to go home. Yeah. So I popped open the Fly Delta app and I looked and there was my 8. 40 or my 6. 45 p. m. flight that day, landing me at like nine o'clock that night, then I could drive home to Pocatello. And I scrolled down and there was a little thing that said, same day change. And I tapped it and it said, well at 210, there's a direct flight to Salt Lake City that'll land you at like four something and it's $75 to change. And I was like, how fast can I click change. And then because I'd already had a checkout of my room and I'm sorry, but I will not travel in business casual. Oh yeah. So I bopped into the bathroom and I changed into shorts and my, you know, my ultras and skittered down, grabbed an Uber, zipped over to the airport. Very good. And then uh got home many hours earlier than I would have otherwise. Uh and it was great.

Aubrey
02:08
Very good.

Peter
02:09
But Um yeah, so that's kind of mostly what I've been up to.

Aubrey
02:16
Very good.

Peter
02:16
A little work, a little travel.

Aubrey
02:18
Yeah. We had like multiple tornadoes. This week.

Peter
02:22
I I heard about the tornado watch or warning or whatever it was.

Aubrey
02:26
Yeah, on Tuesday we had to fully like tornado evacuate to the shelter at work with my kids and they of course were so confused. Like my my youngest one was like When are we gonna do the fire drill? And I was like, so it's not a fire, it's also not a drill.

Peter
02:47
She's like Guys, this ain't no drill.

Aubrey
02:51
She was like waiting for me to say, like we do our tornado drills Like every month we do like a fire drill, tornado drill, and like simple disturbance drill. And she was like waiting for me to say one, two, three, tornado drill, because that's how they know to like run to like sit against the wall and like cover their heads. And I was like, no, I'm not gonna say that because we need to be covering our heads right now. Like the whole time. We're not just doing it for like a minute as a drill. Like this is the real thing. We have to be covering our heads now. And it was it was it was kind of crazy. And there was like baseball-sized hail um really close to my house. Um And that was really crazy. And finally, like at the end of work, I hadn't gotten any text From Hayden about anything weather, so I was like, I think he just doesn't know. I think he's just locked in at work and doesn't know.

Peter
03:53
Buried in the epic industrial complex.

Aubrey
03:56
Exactly. So I called him And I was like, you need to leave work right now. And he was like, Oh, okay, are you okay? And I was like, There's a tornado. And it's also there's another one coming in from the west that will hit our house. very soon, but if we put the pedal to the metal we can beat it home. So let's beat it home. And he was like he was like, oh okay, I'll leave right now. So like zooming home. The drive home was totally fine, because again, it was coming from the west and work is like a little bit east, so I hadn't hadn't like wasn't in the middle of it yet. And like the original one had passed and gone towards like the Sun Prairie East area and then yeah, it wa it was crazy. So When we got home, everything was fine and the sky was definitely green when we were home. Okay. Which was freaky. And we kind of could see like a funnel cloud far away, but I also couldn't really tell if I was actually seeing it or just seeing things because we're kind of like our window is out into like a courtyard so it is like blocked by buildings but sure sure. So that was crazy. But then on Friday, mom and I are shopping and then we get in the car and I get a call from my supervisor and she was like, all schools like in the Madison School District are canceling all after school anything today. And I was like, why? It's sunny outside. Like it's a nice day. And she was like, There's a possible tornado watch. And we were like, Well maybe people didn't like how they handled it on Tuesday, so now the school district was like, We're taking Taking no chances and just cancelled everything on Friday. So I didn't even work and I had weather pay, which was fantastic. Hey.

Peter
05:41
So that's nice that weather pay is a thing.

Aubrey
05:43
It is it is very nice So that was exciting. Mom was like, Oh, maybe I'll be in a tornado. No no tornado for tornadoes. But they're far enough away. But yeah, anyway.

Peter
05:56
Good. Good deal.

Aubrey
05:57
So For today, we figured we would use your fun tier list machine that you have made Um for the MCU movies, just movies.

Peter
06:11
So you know, uh here's the thing, is it hasn't been released for any of us to see, but it I think it was CinemaCon. They apparently showed the first trailer for Avengers Doomsday.

Aubrey
06:23
Oh, okay.

Peter
06:23
So so this week it's all kind of bubbled back up. So that was Yeah. That and the fact that we we have another thing we're gonna talk about, but it's gonna be next week because I didn't quite get there. Um but but yeah, that's why I was thinking, oh, maybe this would be fun for us to do. We Eden and I over on the middle of culture, we did a bracket. for uh for the MCU movies, but I I kind of like the idea of a tier list because because then it's not just pitting things against each other because when you do that you end up with the unfortunate you could have a couple really good movies against each other, but you gotta pick a winner out of those. With the tier list we get to just really see, all right, where do things break down?

Aubrey
07:07
Yep. Very good.

Peter
07:09
So, you know, for people who are familiar with tier lists, uh S is the best, and then we've got ABCD. Uh I actually on my tier list maker made the ability to add an extra list or tier. We did that on purpose because when we did a DC Universe tier list I needed a tier that was uh the FU forever tier specifically. So we could put Black Adam in there because that movie is horrendous. But let me share with you the screen. So here we go. We've got the tier list maker. I've got all 37 MCU movies that officially have been considered MCU movies. And I've gone ahead, I've shuffled them. We'll shuffle them a few more and we're gonna take them one at a time and we're gonna stick them on the tier list and we're gonna see where we end up.

Aubrey
08:09
All right.

Peter
08:10
All right, the first. Oh, interesting first one. So our first one, Avengers Age of Ultron

Aubrey
08:16
What do you think, Aubrey?

Peter
08:17
Where does Age of Ultron go?

Aubrey
08:19
Okay. I would say, in my opinion, it's a fun movie to watch, but it's definitely not my favorite. Fave. So I think at least as low as B, in my opinion.

Peter
08:30
I think Age of Ultron should go in C

Aubrey
08:34
Okay, I agree with that.

Peter
08:35
Because it is hands down the worst movie that has the name Avengers in the top.

Aubrey
08:42
Yes, yes, no, I agree. I agree.

Peter
08:44
Okay.

Aubrey
08:45
All right.

Peter
08:46
Oh, we're coming right out of the gate here with the heavy header. Gotta be S. Ragnarok. S tier. Gotta be S tier. S T t t. Absolutely. Okay, I agree. Thor Ragnarok goes in S tier. Thor Ragnarok won the bracket. on the middle of culture.

Aubrey
09:01
Yeah, and that's super valid.

Peter
09:04
Okay, such a movie. Now we're swinging all the way back. We're going back to oh no no not quite all the way. We're going to Iron Man 2 Iron Man 2. Iron Man 2.

Aubrey
09:14
Okay, remind me this between two and three.

Peter
09:18
Well, two is the one with whiplash. It's the dude with the the bird and you know that guy okay yeah he's got his little pair that's the thing though is you you have a hard time remembering because Iron Man 2 sucks. Yeah and so you haven't watched it.

Aubrey
09:36
Yeah like I'm thinking put put that in the D.

Peter
09:40
I'm thinking D because it's a definitely a worse movie than Avengers Age of Ultron.

Aubrey
09:45
Yes, I can watch Avengers Age of Ultron and like enjoy the experience, but I don't think I can enjoy the experience of Iron Man.

Peter
09:52
I don't think so either. Alright, fantastic four first steps.

Aubrey
09:55
And I've never seen it. So you still haven't seen it? Yeah, I still haven't seen it. You gotta watch it.

Peter
10:01
Fantastic four first steps, I think goes in the A tier.

Aubrey
10:04
Okay, okay.

Peter
10:06
So it was really, really good It will be interesting to see how it ends up interacting with future movies going forward. And I don't know if that's gonna color it. I know some people probably think A is too high. Here's the thing. I just think that Fantastic Four First Steps is a fun movie that is um uh it just does a lot right. And after a bunch of Marvel movies that kind of weren't getting it right, I feel like this one, this one it it it's got the juice.

Aubrey
10:41
Okay. Okay.

Peter
10:42
All right. Have you seen Deadpool versus Deadpool and Wolverine?

Aubrey
10:46
I have not seen this one.

Peter
10:48
Okay. Well, I'm gonna say it is a hilarious movie that you should absolutely watch. Okay. Not while your mother is there with you.

Aubrey
10:56
Okay.

Peter
10:59
Sounds good. She will be she will be horrified.

Aubrey
11:04
Sounds good.

Peter
11:05
At the same time, I think Deadpool and Wolverine is our first B tier movie. Okay. It's good, but it's definitely not as good as the first Deadpool. It might be better than Deadpool 2. Okay. But it's kind of I think I think middle of the road is a good one for it.

Aubrey
11:22
Solid.

Peter
11:24
All right, we got Black Panther Wakanda Forever.

Aubrey
11:29
I enjoyed it because I like Black Panther, you know, and I like the characters in the story and I like Wakanda, but I didn't love the movie.

Peter
11:41
I think, and I'm with you there. I feel like Wakanda Forever is maybe a B-tier movie. I feel like I feel like sees a little. Here's the thing. There are parts of Wakanda Forever that would make it an A tier movie. Yeah. And there are parts that would make it a C tier movie. Which is why I think it needs to land in the B tier. Yeah. Alright, Captain Marvel.

Aubrey
12:07
Okay. Um it's like okay in my opinion. I think it was I liked it a little more when I first watched it and then I think I watched it a couple other times and I was like, uh it's not my fave. I would honestly put it in C or B.

Peter
12:26
opinion. You know, uh there's a part of me that feels like it gets dunked on unnecessarily and gets more hate than it deserves. Yeah. But at the same time, I'm like But yeah, I think C is as high as it goes.

Aubrey
12:41
Yeah.

Peter
12:42
Alright. Black Widow.

Aubrey
12:44
Black Widow. I love Black Widow. I I think it's at least A. I don't think it's maybe not quite S. Yeah. But I think A in my mind.

Peter
12:57
I'll give you the A. I couldn't, I would, I would be, I would have to stop an S tier for Black Widow. Okay. If for no other reason than the truly, truly atrocious CGI. CGI. Like if there's scenes that are just there's some scenes in it that are so bad. I also think that Here's what I'll say. I think that it's a good movie with some real, real emotional highs. But then a few pieces that just kind of fall apart for me. So I personally would put it in B, but I'm gonna give you the A.

Aubrey
13:33
Thank you. Appreciate it.

Peter
13:35
All right. Captain America the First Avenger.

Aubrey
13:38
Oh man, it's a classic. I would probably put it in B or A. Okay.

Peter
13:46
I would say. I'm leaning towards B.

Aubrey
13:50
Okay. Yeah.

Peter
13:51
I like it, but there are part like, but it's never a movie I want to go back and watch.

Aubrey
13:58
Yeah.

Peter
13:58
So that's gonna be part, for me at least, that's gonna be part of what ranks things higher is how much do I want to go back and watch this movie And that's the same thing, like Wakanda Forever. I don't really want to go watch that movie again that much. Right. First Avengers kind of in that category, too.

Aubrey
14:18
I agree with that. I agree with that.

Peter
14:20
Alright, we've got Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

Aubrey
14:24
Okay. I don't know. I have such complicated feelings about this movie because it's so Freaky, and I think they did my girl Wanda so dirty. So I would put it lower. In my opinion. And I also don't want to go back and watch it. So I would probably put C.

Peter
14:43
I was gonna say the best it gets for me is C. I don't think it deserves the D tier. Yeah, I don't think it's a good thing. I think it's better than that, but yeah. All right, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. Now, I'm gonna preface before I I want to hear what Shears' thoughts, and I'm not gonna share mine yet, but what I'm gonna preface this is there is a weird dichotomy that I don't fully understand where for a number of people online this is their favorite Guardians of the Galaxy.

Aubrey
15:11
movie. What? Really?

Peter
15:13
That was my reaction too. It is my least favorite Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Aubrey
15:17
This is the one with his dad, right?

Peter
15:19
Yep.

Aubrey
15:20
Yeah, I didn't like it very much.

Peter
15:22
I mean this for me is probably another C, honestly.

Aubrey
15:26
I I agree. Yeah.

Peter
15:27
Solidly C. I'll watch it before I watch Iron Man 2, so I don't think it lands in the D, but Yeah. Alright, Thunderbolts.

Aubrey
15:36
Okay. I I enjoyed it enough I'd probably put it in A.

Peter
15:41
I agree. It's not quite S tier, but it's definitely A. Yeah. I actually think that out of it and Fantastic Four First Steps, I think that Thunderbolts is a better movie. Okay. Fantastic Four Is is good and it was better than I expected it to be. But I think Thunderbolts, Thunderbolts just hits emotionally a lot harder. Definitely All right, Iron Man three. So this is the one where he's suffering from PTSD and uh he he he he lands in the town and there's the little boy in the suits and the extremists and

Aubrey
16:19
Um, I would say D, to be honest.

Peter
16:23
Okay. I'm gonna say it's better enough than than Iron Man 2 that I would argue C.

Aubrey
16:30
Okay, yeah.

Peter
16:32
But I it doesn't get any higher than C. Yeah. Oh, Eternals.

Aubrey
16:38
Uh D?

Peter
16:39
Oh, this is a D. This isn't this is without question a D.

Aubrey
16:43
I was trying to decide if it was a C or a D, but I would rather watch Age of Ultron and even Captain Marvel before I watch it. Eternals again.

Peter
16:51
I think I might actually rather watch Iron Man 2 before I watch Eternals.

Aubrey
16:54
I actually would probably agree.

Peter
16:56
Like, here's the thing. There are moments in Eternals where I'm like, this is really great. I mean that one Eternal who again I can't even remember her name but the the speedster Yeah the way they do her speed stuff like that's some of the coolest high speed like combat and and stuff we've seen. Yep but The rest of that movie is just so bad. And we've just like, I don't think we're ever gonna come back to it. I don't think we're ever gonna come back to it.

Aubrey
17:24
Yep. Yeah, just the way that it doesn't even like line up with other things in the MCU. Like it just feels like a one-off freak show.

Peter
17:34
Klack Panther the first one.

Aubrey
17:37
I I enjoy this movie a lot. I would say at least A. Maybe not fully S, because I'm trying to not

Peter
17:46
I know S feels like really rarefied air. So I would agree that that's an A tier as well. My instinct wanted to go with uh an S, but then I was like, mmm I don't know if it quite hits S for me.

Aubrey
18:00
Yeah, yeah, I agree.

Peter
18:01
All right, Spider-Man, Far From Home, the second far from home.

Aubrey
18:05
Okay. This is the middle of the one with Mysterio. Um, I would probably put it B.

Peter
18:13
I agree. This is a B tier for me.

Aubrey
18:15
Yeah. Like I'd watch it again, but it's not like a fave.

Peter
18:19
It's my least favorite of the three. Yeah. Um movies. Yeah. So I agree. Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania.

Aubrey
18:29
Hmm. I'm gonna be honest, I didn't love it. I probably wouldn't choose to watch it again.

Peter
18:34
I mean, I don't quite think it's a D, but it's definitely no higher than a C.

Aubrey
18:39
Yeah, I agree.

Peter
18:40
Okay. All right, the Incredible Hulk.

Aubrey
18:44
I've literally never seen it because you said it was so bad.

Peter
18:47
Yeah, it's going straight into the D tier for me. Yeah.

Aubrey
18:50
Yep.

Peter
18:51
All right, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Aubrey
18:55
I did enjoy this movie a lot. I did too.

Peter
19:03
So here's the problem with it. If in the years since this came out They had done anything with this, yeah. I would say it's an A tier.

Aubrey
19:15
Yeah.

Peter
19:16
But I feel like I can't put it higher than an A tier than a B tier. Because it's like they threw it out. It's a fun movie. I like it a lot.

Aubrey
19:24
Yep.

Peter
19:25
And then it just My boy Shang-Chi deserves better.

Aubrey
19:34
He does. He does.

Peter
19:35
He deserves better. All right. Oh this is a this one is pretty easy for me. Infinity War

Aubrey
19:42
It's easy for you?

Peter
19:44
Yep.

Aubrey
19:44
I would probably put S.

Peter
19:46
This is S tier all the way.

Aubrey
19:48
Okay, good. I just wanted to make sure I was a little scared. I was like, you bet it was easy for you. Oh no.

Peter
19:52
Yeah, definitely but Infinity War S tier. Absolute S tier. Captain America Civil War.

Aubrey
19:59
Oh, it's so painful, but it's really good, I think. I would maybe even put it A for me.

Peter
20:05
I think I could go with A. I think I could go with A. Alright, the original Guardians of the Galaxy.

Aubrey
20:13
I l I love this one. I'd put it A solidly. I think that's I've never seen the third, but I definitely love this movie.

Peter
20:22
Alright. I can give you A there. I think the third, again, the third is better. than two, but it's not as good as one. So given we put three down in C, I think that I think that Yeah, foreshadowing. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will nicely slot in to that MTB slot.

Aubrey
20:43
Very cushion.

Peter
20:44
Alright, what about the Marvels?

Aubrey
20:47
But never seen it.

Peter
20:48
Uh this one I have really conflicting feelings about. Yeah. So I think it needs to go C tier. I think in some ways I would rather watch the Marvels over Captain Marvel.

Aubrey
21:02
Okay.

Peter
21:02
But it definitely doesn't hang. It's definitely a more enjoyable film than the D tier ones.

Aubrey
21:09
Good. Okay. Solid.

Peter
21:11
Alright. Another, for me, easy one. Captain America, the Winter Soldier.

Aubrey
21:15
I would put it in S.

Peter
21:16
That's S tier all the way. So good. Still probably, in my opinion, the best Marvel movie that's been made. Not my favorite. Not my favorite, but I think it's the best in terms of it's the tightest, it's the most like just I don't know. It it was the one that made me come out of that movie going, Now that's how you make a superhero.

Aubrey
21:41
Yep, I agree. Such a good movie.

Peter
21:43
Okay, here we are, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume Three. So again, definitely worth watching.

Aubrey
21:49
Okay.

Peter
21:49
Definitely better than two.

Aubrey
21:51
Good.

Peter
21:52
But I agree doesn't quite reach the highs of one. So we'll put that in B tier. Alright, Thor, love and thunder.

Aubrey
22:01
Um it's gotta be either C or D. I won't lie. It was bad.

Peter
22:07
You know, only because of certain things like the screaming goats that made me laugh every single time they screamed. Yeah. I think I'm gonna say it needs to go in C tear. And I thought that I thought that the the bad guy, Gore the God Butcher, I thought that um uh whatever. I'm blanking on the actor's name now. The who played Gore the God Butcher.

Aubrey
22:33
No, I don't even know

Peter
22:34
Um anyway, I thought that he did uh an excellent job. So Ant-Man and the Wasp. Second Ant-Man movie.

Aubrey
22:45
Which one was this?

Peter
22:47
Uh, this is the one where they have to get uh her mom out of the quantum realm. And because they're trying to they're trying to Oh you know, they've got they've got ghost and they're trying to stabilize her and See that again, there's the uh there's the problem is you had to think which one it is.

Aubrey
23:10
Not yeah, no, not not great. Not great. I probably wouldn't choose to watch it.

Peter
23:15
Probably another C tear?

Aubrey
23:16
Yeah.

Peter
23:17
All right, the original Thor.

Aubrey
23:20
Uh I would maybe put B. I wouldn't be as mean as C because it's it's like definitely not as great as some others, but I think it's better than the ones that are in C. I agree.

Peter
23:32
I think it's a B tier.

Aubrey
23:34
Yeah.

Peter
23:34
Alright, the original Avengers.

Aubrey
23:37
Oh, and this one is such a classic too. I would be I would maybe even put it A. Maybe that's too generous, but I think it's an A.

Peter
23:44
I was gonna argue if you wanted to put it in S, but I think it's with the time it came out, it was really I I would have probably said S back then, but in the years since, there's just a few things about it that haven't aged really well. Um So so yeah, I think I think A is a good place. Yeah. All right, Spider-Man, no way home.

Aubrey
24:08
Oh man. At least A. Okay, so I would say at least A.

Peter
24:13
Here's what I'm gonna say. I actually think that Homecoming is the better movie.

Aubrey
24:19
Yeah.

Peter
24:20
But I think because of the feels it gave me, no way home's gotta be an S tier.

Aubrey
24:27
Okay. Yep, I'm I'm okay with that. You okay with that? It's it's too iconic. It's just The cheers that I heard in the theater were just insane.

Peter
24:44
We really did. I mean, I really thought, I was like, yeah, there's no way they're bringing in both of them. And then they did. When they both show up and just like Man, that scene at the end and when um Tom Holland Spider-Man is getting ready to basically kill Git Green Goblin. Yeah. And Toby Maguire Spider-Man like stops him and is like Doesn't really even need to say anything, but it's just like that's not who we are. That's not who Spider-Man is. Oh, like I want to go watch that movie again right now.

Aubrey
25:15
Yeah, I actually want to go watch that again. That's such a good movie.

Peter
25:19
It is. All right, the first Doctor Strange movie.

Aubrey
25:23
I do really like the first Doctor Strange movie. I would say maybe B or A for me.

Peter
25:28
I think that if Caiselius was a more fleshed out villain, I would definitely go with A. So I'm kind of leaning towards B because it's it's a good movie, but Okay, now I'm curious to see your thoughts on Avengers Endgame.

Aubrey
25:46
I think I think I can only put it in A. I don't think I can put it in S.

Peter
25:53
I agree completely.

Aubrey
25:55
Yeah, I just don't think

Peter
25:57
There's amazing moments in it. The on your left scene at the end. Oh, so good. The like when when Mjolnir goes into Steve Rogers' hand. And and just, you know, even Iron Man and I am Iron Man and snap the I mean absolute all-time great movie moments for me. Yes. But I just don't think it's as strong. I think again, Infinity War is a better movie. Yes, I agree. So I agree that's an A. All right, Captain America Brave New World.

Aubrey
26:31
Never seen it.

Peter
26:32
So here's what we're gonna say, unfortunately, whether it deserves it or not, it's going into the detail because guess what? Neither of us have been interested in the least in watching this movie.

Aubrey
26:43
Yeah, there you go. That's what happens. That's what happens.

Peter
26:47
All right, the original OG Iron Man.

Aubrey
26:50
Oh, this one's good. I it's iconic in many ways, but I I think I could say solidly A.

Peter
26:56
Okay, I agree. Again, I think it's definitely an A-tier movie. I don't think it gets up to S.

Aubrey
27:01
Yeah, no, definitely not.

Peter
27:03
Okay, we're in the home stretch. Three more. Thor the Dark World.

Aubrey
27:08
I would maybe Say C or B.

Peter
27:13
And see, I was gonna go d-dee.

Aubrey
27:16
I'd be okay with that because I I have I've seen it one time and I probably will never see it again. So I think I'm trying to be nicer than because I can't remember. Yeah. I don't even remember who the villain is. Isn't it the Ice Elves or whatever? Yeah it is

Peter
27:31
It is. And, you know, it is just a bad movie.

Aubrey
27:36
Yeah. Yeah.

Peter
27:38
All right. Spider-Man Homecoming

Aubrey
27:41
Yeah, probably solidly A.

Peter
27:43
I agree. I think it's A. I don't think it makes it to the S tier. I think our S tier, I look at our S tier and I go, yep, we got that right.

Aubrey
27:50
That's locked down. Yes. Yep.

Peter
27:52
The first Iron Man movie

Aubrey
27:54
You mean Ant-Man?

Peter
27:55
Ir meant Ant Man. We just did the Iron Man yesterday.

Aubrey
27:57
Yeah, we did. Um that one's pretty good. But I would maybe say B or A.

Peter
28:05
I I actually am kind of like, I think it's an A.

Aubrey
28:08
Okay. Yeah.

Peter
28:09
In part because of the surprise. Everybody was like, uh And and sort of like the original, the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie where everybody was like, is this gonna be good? And then when you watch it, you're like, oh no, this is really good. Yeah. I think like I look at what's in our B tier. And I go, I think I'd watch At the original Ant-Man before I'd watch any of those B tier movies again.

Aubrey
28:31
Yep, I would agree. And I think our S tier is absolutely correct, and there's no arguing that.

Peter
28:36
S tier locked in. Yep. Thor Ragnarok, Infinity War, Winter Soldier, and No Way Home.

Aubrey
28:45
Yep.

Peter
28:45
Absolute great. Iconic.

Aubrey
28:48
Yep.

Peter
28:49
Iconic So good.

Aubrey
28:51
So good. That was fun. I thought too the tier list. That is fun. Unfortunately there was Qu a few I haven't watched, but they're just the it's just the new ones, man. It's just the new ones I gotta get myself to watch.

Peter
29:04
That's the thing is it just kind of feels like that kind of ran out of steam, and that's why I was so encouraged. at Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four because Brave New World came out before those. And so Thunderbolts then and Fantastic Four. So Brave New World came out and it was kind of like uh And then Thunderbolts came out and I was like, oh, okay.

Aubrey
29:26
Yeah.

Peter
29:27
And then after Fantastic Four, we had two back to back where I'm like, I mean, you saw both of those. I'm like, these are both A-tier movies.

Aubrey
29:34
Yeah.

Peter
29:35
So maybe we're in a upswing.

Aubrey
29:39
I would love an upswing. Because I do miss having iconic Marvel movies to be excited for. Like I miss that. I miss being like Oh, this movie's coming out, we know it's gonna be good. Like when Civil War came out, I was like, Oh, this is crazy, the hype for Infinity War I remember Infinity War and Endgame. Or Endgame we went to like the premiere, you know, night before late night showing. And I remember the night before that. I had a dream where I couldn't go see the movie and it was like a nightmare. I woke up and I was like, Dad, we're still going to the movie, right? And you were like, yes. Yes. We are. That's tonight. And I was like, I had a dream we couldn't go. That was so upset. That's how excited I was for the movies. And I just I want that again.

Peter
30:23
You know, I just want that for something Marvel period. Again, I was excited for Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four, but it's like here's what I'll say. This would have looked very different had we ranked the Marvel TV shows, the Disney Plus shows. And maybe we'll do that. Maybe we'll do that down the road. That might be fun to do. But here's a problem with that is there's a bunch of them I haven't seen.

Aubrey
30:49
Same.

Peter
30:50
Like I haven't seen Loki season two.

Aubrey
30:54
Same.

Peter
30:54
I haven't seen What If season two. Same. I haven't seen Echo. I haven't seen either seasons of Daredevil Born Again. I haven't seen like there's and and for me, really what it was Is it it boils down to that gosh darn secret invasion? That show was so bad Again, when I made that tier list website, I specifically wanted to make sure there was an option to add a list, a tier somewhere different, anywhere I want. But it's so that you can add a tier below at the very end that is just like die, die, die in a fire, die. And that's where secret invasion goes. Like Secret Invasion is the Marvel equivalent of Black Adam.

Aubrey
31:44
Of Black Adam, yeah.

Peter
31:46
But in some ways worse because Secret Invasion, I watched six episodes of it.

Aubrey
31:51
Yeah, that's so much more time that you wasted.

Peter
31:54
And it just like, it cheesed me so bad that I'm like, I don't want to invest in Marvel TV anymore.

Aubrey
32:03
Yeah. Yeah.

Peter
32:05
So anyway.

Aubrey
32:06
Yeah, we'll have to do one of those another day. Well that was time to do some homework and I can watch one of the ones I haven't seen before something happened.

Peter
32:14
I mean, I feel like Loki season two is gonna be important viewing before um Avengers Doomsday.

Aubrey
32:22
Doomsday. Yeah. But Yeah, that might be

Peter
32:26
something I have to and and by all accounts Gareth said that one was good that was worth watching so okay solid there you go well well that was fun

Aubrey
32:35
Well, we will be back in a few weeks with another fun topic I'm very excited for. Um I have an outfit that will go along with that topic as well. I'm excited to see said outfit. Um, so yeah, we'll be back in a couple weeks with the fun topic. And make sure you, you know, leave us a review and give us five-star pod, all the all the things that we are. Um, and we will talk to you guys later.

Peter
33:00
Bye. Bye.
