Full show transcript:

I was watching a TikTok the other day, and it was this woman who was making um I think she was making a fruit pizza and she chopped up some kiwis and put them in their blender, but she left the skin on the kiwis.

Yeah, you showed me this. I don't know how I feel about it. And I I don't like pulp in my orange juice. I don't think I'm gonna like kiwi fuzz in my fruit in my fruit smoothie.

And I immediately went to the comments because I said, What is happening? And you can eat kiwi with the skin on. It has more fiber in eating the skin increases your fiber intake by up to 50%.

I don't think I like the texture.

I know. I don't even think that it's like chewable. Okay, here's what it says.

But if you want to eat the skin, you've got to wash it well. Rinse the fruit under cool water and rub the surface to remove dirt or residue. Okay. Rub a green kiwi with a clean towel or brush to rub off some of the fuzzy texture. Okay.

Some of them.

There are gold kiwis, which have a smoother, thinner, less fuzzy skin. Yeah. Or you can blend it, toss the whole slice kiwis into a smoothie. If you dislike the texture, apparently it goes away. The fuzz just disperses amongst your other textures. I don't like it. I don't want a hairy drink.

I just sometimes I'm amazed that I'm 45 years old and I'm still learning new stuff. Yeah. That is very interesting. I didn't know you could eat it. So what other pills can we eat? Pills. Peels. Fruit peels.

You added a little idaho in there. What are the pills? Here's a here's some. Banana peels. Orange peels. Peel. Uh here's something to note. Things to watch out for. Okay. Uh the skin contains higher levels of an enzyme, which can cause mouth irritation, digestive comfort, uh discomfort for sensitive individuals that have allergies to some of these enzymes. It also has oxalates.

What's that? Oxalates contribute to kidney stones and people who are sensitive to them. So if you're sensitive to kidney stones, kiwi skins have oxalates that your body is gonna process it. Could turn into kidney stones. Just so you know. Careful. Just so you know.

I'm probably just not gonna eat the skin. That's all.

This is a fine idea. Sounds good. Sounds good too. I just didn't eat good. I don't eat a lot of kiwi as it is. Yeah. I like kiwi strawberry flavor. That's pretty much where it ends. Anyway.

Let's start this Friday edition.

Good morning. Oh, hello. How are you? Fine. How are you? I'm just dandy. Good. Glad to hear it. A moment ago you decided that just because we're married means we have to have the same opinion.

No. That's what it sounded like because you were over here saying, like, oh, how come we feel like this? And then sometimes we feel like that. And I said, I don't feel like that. And you said, no, you married me, so we are a wee. Yeah. Okay, that's what you said. So my statement was true.

It's mostly you're allowed to have your own opinions and your own.

I'm allowed to have my own opinion so long as it's yours.

No, no, no. Listen, let me finish. As long as it's mine when I want it to be. You can pick what you want to eat for dinner or what time you want to go to bed.

Like you want to hold a grudge against people. Yeah. And I therefore have to be a party to that. I have to be an accessory to your grudge holding. Right. I feel like that's unfair.

No, it's not. I don't have to. Most of the time, I the I hold grudges against people who are not very nice to you. Yeah, but I and then you're like, I'm fine with it. And they go, no, we hate them. No, we don't. You see. I don't see. I'm doing this for you. No, you're not.

I know that you you might feel like that's the case, but I assure you, tis not. Well, guess what, Josh? What is it? When we got married in our vows. Nope. Yes. Nope.

I gotta find our vows. I actually have to look through them again. Do you? What's in there? Well, because I'm pretty sure in mine I said, if I have a grudge, you also have a grudge. What's mine is yours. You see? You see. You see? No.

No. I don't see. I do know that it's Friday. Yes. Finally. Woohoo. I do know this has been one of the longest working weeks for me. I'll talk about that coming up. Um and why it's been such a long week, why we weren't in the studio yesterday. Many things coming to fruition later on today. Got a lot to talk about. I'm tired. I know you are. I'm sorry. I'm real tired. I know.

Still. One of these days I won't be. Today is not that day. And it's Friday, and I'm grateful for that. And I've been told that I can leave early. today. Lucky. Yeah, but I don't know what time that'll be.

I got a lot of work to do. Still. So we will see. We shall see.

In the meantime. Good morning. Hi. Let's do a show.

Okay. Here is a good news story for you. This one comes from a couple in Virginia. They're Jaden and Kimberly, and they spent uh a full year planning their dream winning wedding. Witting wedding. Their dream wedding on the outer banks. And Kimberly wanted a beach wedding, and so she worked with Jaden and they decided they were going to figure out how to make it happen, and they were very excited. On their wedding day, a storm blew through and washed out the main highway. This stranded the couple and flooded their venue, and all of their family and friends were stuck on the mainland and couldn't come over to the outer banks to be a part of the well.

Oh no. They were unable to reschedule because the venue was having a panic attack about being flooded. So a local campground stepped up and they said, We will host the ceremony here for free. And the couple put on a call on uh social media. They just said, hey, look, here's the situation. Here's what's going on. We're gonna do the uh wedding. We're gonna, you know, I suppose they live streamed it for the family and friends that couldn't physically be there.

That's terrible.

And they invited anyone on the island to join them. They said, if you want to come, we need guests, come to our wedding. More than 400 complete strangers showed up. I would go. Do you?

Sure. We got nothing else to do. We're stranded on an island.

Yeah. So both locals uh from the island as well as stranded tourists showed up. They brought food, music, decorations, all to throw the newlyweds an epic party, and it was a huge success, and much larger than the intimate ceremony that they had planned before the storm. Uh Jaden said that the whole thing just came together within 24 hours.

You would have thought the Queen of England was getting married. That's awesome. Isn't that cool?

Yeah. I love that they were uh rallied around. And they're a cute couple, they're very cute. Uh so congratulations to them. And uh and well done to uh all the folks who helped make that happen. 400 people. That's crazy. Yeah, that's awesome.

That turned out to be a great story. It's good news. I have a problem. And the problem is a goat.

And the goat has been keeping me up way too late. That's what my problem is. Do you have a problem? Do I have a I have no problems? You have not been affected by the goat.

Only in the best way.

Okay. I don't know what that means.

Well, I got yesterday off.

Uh the from the morning show, yeah. Yeah.

So that was a great. I mean, you could have come in. Could have. You didn't have to take the morning off with me. Oh, well, I did. Yeah. So hurry for me.

So Thursday at midnight, very early in the morning on Thursday. I was still here at the uh at the station along with uh our bosses. Uh and we, the three of us, uh flipped a switch, uh, so to speak.

Uh-huh. Uh, we've been working for uh a couple of weeks on trying to uh launch a new radio station called the goat. Uh it's 105, 105.5, 105.9, 105 the goat. Uh, it is the greatest of all time, which is a sports term. When someone is an elite in their sport, they are called the goat. Yeah. And therefore, a sports radio station that is elite in sports radio should only be called the goat. Correct.

So the goat has launched. Uh, it is a sports talk radio station. Uh, it is also the home of the Denver Broncos, the Utah Jazz, and the Utah Mammoth. Last night was the first mammoth game, and they had their first well, this is their third straight home opener win. That's which is huge. Their first blowout in the Delta Center. Six to nothing over the

Chicago and apparently there was a big fight.

Oh, yeah. Right in the middle of the ice, too. It was center ice. And these two guys just started fighting. I gotta go see. And uh, and I was listening to the game uh and and the announcer was very hyped up about it. Uh but anyway, launching a radio station for anyone who has never done it, which is probably more people than people that have done it. It is an incredible amount of work. It is and to try to do it all in a matter of a couple of weeks, uh, is insane.

It's a maniacal thing that I have done to myself probably half a dozen times in my career. And uh it's it's a ton of work, and it's kept me up very late, including last night because I had to make sure uh that the hockey game ran properly, and it didn't get over after the postgame until like 11 45 last night. That's why I'm so tired this morning.

I'm sorry, because I got a goat keeping me awake at night. I'm very much uh excited about it. It's uh it's been a fun project. It's been a ton of work to put together. I had to tap into some radio uh skills that I've had uh in my what do they say, uh toolbox, I guess, some tools, some skills that I've had that I have not had to use very often. I have to solder things as I mentioned.

That's what that was for. Uh, there's just been a lot of things, but because I was here uh on Thursday nights or uh Wednesday night so late, Thursday early morning. That's why we weren't in the studio yesterday, is because we were I was heavily involved in that project. And now again, you could have come in. You could have you could have done the show. No. We.

Somebody says, Hey, we do we don't have to come in to the show, and I go, Great.

Yeah, you were asking. You were like, Are we gonna go in? Are you are you gonna get

a get a chance to sleep in a little bit?

Sleep at all. Awesome.

Yeah, I'll take that opportunity. Thank you very much.

I did think it was funny because on uh Thursday morning, yesterday morning, you were the quietest getting out of bed, I think you've ever been. And I was entirely awake the whole time. Uh why? Well, because you moved out of the bed, and I went, oh, like so. I was aware, but you were like real quiet. Yeah.

that was You're not it was very nice. It was it was just funny to me because uh normally when you're like getting up and getting going, you're like, I'm just gonna get it's time to get up, and I'm his alarm clock, and it feels very much like, yeah, yeah, I gotta also wake him up by being a little bit noisy. But I'll tell you, yesterday you were

tiptoeing because you had been up late.

It was very I was being nice. I I'm completely appreciative. It was just funny to be awake and alert through it, whether you knew that or not, because you were it was like I didn't know that. It was like you were you were being so quiet.

I was being quiet, and you're welcome.

I am appreciative. I think it was great. It was funny to witness. Uh, but that's it. I think. Is there anything else? I have you you've had a chance to listen a little bit, but only because you've been sort of bystander to me. Uh it's a lot of sports. Yeah. It's a lot of uh sports, it's a lot of sports. Um, it's not for me.

No, but it is definitely for someone.

Yeah, well, I had it on at the house uh last night. It it's a Thursday night, so there's a football game that was going on. Uh, and then there was also a baseball game going on, and our son was uh very intrigued that the guy who was on air uh was talking about both of the games that were actively uh going on as he's doing his show. He's like, wait, I'm getting sports updates and I'm getting uh commentary about sports content. Like he was kind of like, okay. Yeah, he might be into it. He was like, he's calling both games right now. I said, both games are on, he's talking about.

Okay, all right. That was kind of fun. So anyway, if you're into sports, 105 the goat is uh now available for you. And uh I'm sure there's more news to come about that, but until there is more to share. I'm gonna take a nap one of these days.

One of these days, I'm gonna get a good nap. Congrats, Josh. Thanks. Have you ever gotten dressed for the day and just haven't felt your best? Yeah. Okay. What about it? The other day I felt that way. When? Um, what day was it?

Wednesday? What were you wearing? I don't even remember remember now, but I just didn't feel it wasn't my best foot forward. Okay. And I said, God, I kind of feel I was at my other job. And I said, I kind of feel like a scuzz bucket today. Okay. And my co-worker of mine, she is 30. Yeah.

And she did you just pair together two words she'd never heard before. Have you never heard scuzz bucket? No, I asked, did you pair together two words she had never heard before? She'd never heard the whole thing.

She was like, a scuzz bucket. What's that? Yeah. Scuzz bucket. I said, You've never heard scuzz bucket.

Where did you hear it? And the way you're you keep saying it is like it's from Appalachian.

I don't know where I heard it from. I think my mom used to say it. I think I got it from my mom. Okay. Do you know what it means? And then I thought, well, golly, what if my mom just made this up? That's awesome. It's an actual word. It is. It is a informal slang term. It is in the Cambridge dictionary. Okay. By the way. An informal slang term. For an unpleasant, repulsive or despicable person. Wow.

And you were saying that about yourself. Yeah, I know. Selfish.

I went, whoa, that's a little bit harsh. That's maybe not what I meant. What's the origin? Um I don't know. Oh, we're gonna find out. We're gonna find out. SCSI. I that's a word too that I've used before. Yeah. Dirty, grimy, shabby, or repulsive. Yeah.

And then a bucket, which is just a vessel to carry a lot of it in. Yeah. A litter a a literal container or receptacle for total filth and repulsiveness. That is a receptacle of filth.

That is something that is a rare insult. It was too harsh uh for myself. I just kind of didn't feel like my best self. And so I should have just said, I just don't feel like my best self. Yeah. Not necessarily that intense. Now the night before, you had also seen this coworker, and you had said she's a psycho ho's beast.

That's a fun term.

That's from Wayne's world. She had never heard that term either.

It's three words that you just don't always put together.

She said, What is it with you and Josh just coming up with these weird words? I go, we didn't come up with that. with that. No, I didn't make this up. So that one was from Wayne's world. That is a pop cultural.

Here's here's where the roots of scuzz bucket.

Oh, you've got the word. Specifically scus, yeah. It roots to the U.S. Marine Corps from the 50s and 60s.

Uh and the word scuzz was uh used as like when they were cleaning uh the deck or uh referring to a disheveled person. They're like, you gotta get the scuzz off the floor. And so scuzz sort of transferred to people, and then it bucket was added later. Like that guy is scus was the shorthand for Marine.

In the 50s and 60s, which sounds very 50s, 60s, doesn't it? Yeah. Yeah. My mom was alive during that time. So yeah, she would have heard that term. And Yep.

And then Time magazine in 1965 reported scuzz being used on college campuses as uh a term for an unwholesome character. Oh they're a scuzz.

What a scuzz. Yeah. So there you go.

A receptacle of total filth. That is a that's way better. Like calling someone a receptacle of filth. Also, great name for a band.

We're scuzz bucket. No. Receptacle of filth. No, that's too long. No, it's not. Hey, welcome. We're receptacle of filth.

Yes. And you wouldn't say welcome, we're receptacle of filth.

It would just be written in some font you can't read.

And you would play music that our son likes. That's pretty much what would happen, I think. Anyway.

Don't use don't use scuzz bucket in referring to yourself. It's not nice. No, it is not. You are not a scuzz bucket. Thanks. I am not. You're right. So there you go. You bought me a towel warmer for Christmas.

It was a gift you uh talked about a lot, how much you wanted it, how nice it would be. Yes. We got uh we had some listeners that gave us some uh input on good ones. I did some shopping around. I found one. I went, This is gonna be awesome. Yes. I bought it. Yes. You unwrapped it. Yes. It's been in the bathroom.

And I've used it when you How many times? When you first gave it to me, I used it quite a bit. Okay. And then somebody asked me how I liked it. And I said, I'm gonna be totally honest with you. I go, it's not something that I love.

And I'll tell you why. Because it doesn't get the towels as warm as I'd like them to be. And you can you can change the temper like not the temperature, but you can change the time that they're in there.

So you can put them in there for 15, 30 or 60 minutes. And I used it quite regularly for a month or two. And then it's been kind of sitting there.

And our daughter actually used it more than I did. But I was like, oh, I'm not feeling so great tonight. I'm gonna go take a shower. I'm gonna use my towel warmer. And I got the towel warmer out and I put it in there for 15 minutes. And let me tell you, the hot water in our house runs out faster than the to the towel warmers in the towel warmer.

What? Was it rolled up or just thrown in? It's thrown in there. Is it supposed to be rolled up? No.

You're supposed to be supposed to throw it in there. You're supposed to loosely toss it in there. Okay.

You're also supposed to put other towels in there with it. Because it's got a lot of air. But I don't want to throw a bunch of towels in there. Because then what?

I feel like if they were rolled up and you had three or four of them in there that it would fit. And you They're not supposed to be rolled up. Just listen to me. Because then you're gonna have cold spots.

If you if you rolled them up and you had three or four of them in there so that it was pretty packed in. You're not just listening and you plugged it in and you turned it on for an hour. And I'm talking about you're gonna take a 15 minute shower, you're gonna plug it in in 45 minutes, you go turn on your shower. You take your your 15 minute shower, whatever. I see what you're saying. And then you get out and you have one of several towels that have been in there for an hour. I see what you're saying. That's not a bad idea, too. Well, that you're not gonna shower or bathe for an hour.

I mean, sometimes I've bathed for an hour. That's crazy. You're crazy. Settle down.

Like if you're just having a soak in a hot tub, sure. But also never an hour. It boils your body. I can't do that. I know you can't.

But here's here's the main issue is that our hot water runs out in 15 minutes. Upstairs. Yes. And that was frustrating. Because I actually could have stayed in the shower for longer, and I kept looking at my towel warmer time, going, Oh, I got two minutes left. I could 15 minutes isn't enough. I can hang out here in the shower for a minute. And then the hot water was like, I'm kind of wondering.

But also, how hot was your water? Pretty hot. Pretty hot. So the room and the towel were probably cooler than the water anyway. Yeah. Because you run the water so hot. Yeah. So maybe right before you get out, turn the water down and get cold and then get your warm towel.

Well, I was getting cold because my hot water was running out. So I went, ooh. And then I got my towel. And now it was warm when I got out. It was very exciting to have a warm towel. Right. And I went, this feels great. Okay.

But it just I think the timing thing's the thing. I think. Maybe even if you tried at 30. Plug it in, get it turned on. Get it full, though. So it has just stuff to heat up, not just air. Because the air heating up isn't doing any good. Okay. I'm just I'm hypothesizing. No, that's hypothesizing.

No, that's a good that's a good problem solved.

I think the picture on the box had towels rolled up. I don't think they were just thrown in there.

The instructions said loosely put them in there.

Well, yeah, I think loosely rolled up. You don't want to like stuff it so that everything's too tight.

I'm pretty sure that you're not supposed to roll them up in there at all. I'm gonna ask. Who? Google. Google.

Should I loosely throw them in like the hamper, or should they be loosely rolled?

Uh depends on the type of roller you have. Or heater? Yeah. We'll never know the proper way. Because I threw the instructions away. Because who keeps those? Not me. Clearly. Did you read them once?

It's yeah. And then that's why I know that you're not supposed to roll them. So there. It's a good gift. I appreciate it. Thank you, Josh for that gift. It's a good gift.

It sounds like a good gift. Sounds like I did a good job. You did. Well, I got the thing you wanted. So as far as giving a gift, yes. Yeah. Yeah.

You did get the thing I wanted, so thanks. You're welcome. Preach. I am a sucker for kind of these prompts, whether they're like an artist prompt or like sometimes they have they'll have like a journal. It's like called wreck this journal, and it'll give you like prompts on how to like make it destroyed.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It'll be like uh like scribble on this page with a permanent marker. Exactly. Whatever. Yeah, no, I get it. And you'll have like uh you have like an art journaling deck of cards. It gives you ideas like you should uh go to dinner and make a thing out of this or whatever. Right. Yeah, I like that kind of stuff. I know that.

When I was shopping this past weekend, I found this. It's called Take a Ticket Creativity, 200 tear-off props. Can I see this just really quick? Yeah.

So let me explain this from where I'm sitting. Okay. This is uh like a what how many sizes? Six. It's like a stop sign shape, right? Yeah. And it's a it, but it also works like uh what's what's the uh fruit by the foot? Like you unroll it, yeah, and you pull out these things and they're perforated, and you said it's a ticket, take a ticket. Yeah, that's what it's called. So the idea is you rip one of these off, and this is supposed to give you something creative to do. Yeah. And there's 200 tear-off prompts. Yeah, okay. 200.

Thanks for explaining what I already had.

I just it's a little box, it's like a board game box, but it's small in a little spool, and you peel one of those off and and then you do it, and that's supposed to spark creativity. Is that the idea? Yeah, because uh you opened it up.

Well, the example on the back says, take a photo of someone you love laughing. And I went, how cute? I like this. I'm gonna go. That's it. That's a good idea.

And get like is that the best one in the whole box, you think?

I haven't been through the whole box yet, but I am how many in?

Oh, six or seven tickets.

One, two, three, four, five. And I went, these are crap.

You were really disappointed. The first thing. You were like, check this out. I got this thing. This is really cool. And you pulled it open, and then you went, no, that's lame. And then you pulled the next one. That's lame too. They're all so bad.

I haven't gotten past this one because I'm every time I pull one out and it's dumb, I'm gonna throw it down and I go, This is the dumbest thing I've ever been. You said I got duped. I got duped. Okay, the one the first one I pulled out was write a shopping list for a giant. Okay. Now, listen. What?

Why is that not a fun creative thing to do? That's dumb. What what would you rather that said? I don't know. Take a picture of someone you love laughing.

Yeah, that's cute. Okay, that's cute.

Writing a list for a giant is not fun for you. I don't know. You love making lists. That's dumb.

Second one, write your closet for your most futuristic fit. And then wear it. Rock it. Yeah. Rock it. Record a short song on your phone using instruments from your kitchen. Try carving a self-portrait into the skin of a fruit. Wear a ridiculous disguise, take a selfie and text it to someone. Dumb.

Because you don't want to do these. That therefore makes them not exciting. Creativity prompts. Yeah. Pull a new one.

Design the floor plan of your dream home. Dumb. Make a handheld device from found items and pitch it to a friend. Write a list of the worst pets. Drive a vehicle that you'll drive around and draw a vehicle that you'll drive around in the afterlife. Okay. You're so disappointed. I was so disappointed.

Every time you pull one out, you get more and more disappointed.

These are not fun ideas for you. No, they're not.

What would be if you could think of one that wasn't a prompt in there that you could be like, that's something I'd like if we're to say. What would it be? I don't know. Organize your buttons.

Maybe. Or draw a portrait out of your buttons. Or I don't know. I I don't honestly know. That's why I bought it. Because I was like, ooh, someone's gonna help me be creative. Creativity prompts. This is dub. I've been duped.

I spent money on this.

I spent 11 dollars on this. 11 dollars.

You didn't tell me how much you spent.

The price tag's right there. I didn't look. 11. 1095.

You spent eleven dollars.

Yeah, because I thought I was gonna have a creativity a day.

That's a box of good intentions. And whoever made that is very proud of their work. And they're like, this is a great thing that would help people have uh, you know, something to break their boredom.

But not you. Not me. No, this is tough. No, you're you're over here like find a sound that's not music and dance to it. Oh, here's take a picture of someone you love laughing.

There it is. It's the like 12th one. It's gotta be better after that. What's the one right after that?

Write a limerick about a friend or family member. Do it. Write a synopsis for a reality show starring only superheroes. Get a donut, draw it, then eat it. So tough. Our son is in the process of moving out of our house. And he's he's a little bit sad about it.

It's it's sad when you move out of your house. It's a big change. It's a big new thing.

Yeah. And he's been kind of hanging around us a little bit more, which isn't typical of him. And so you and I have both said, like, he's he's gonna miss us. Well, the fact that he's hanging around more. Yeah.

I mean, even the point like last night I was pointing out like, you won't have to hear about this and this and this. And he's like, Yeah, but I'm gonna miss that. And I'm like, come on, man.

So whenever he would come home from work and you'd be cooking dinner, say, What's for dinner? And you'd say, dinner. So what are you making? Oh, what is it?

What are you making? And I'd said dinner. And then he's like, I know it's dinner. What are you making for dinner? And he'd get mad, and then he'd like look at the recipe, and then he'd go, Oh, I knew it was gonna be something I hate, and then he'd leave. Because and I and it wasn't like I was trying to be cute by saying, What are you making dinner? like a dad joke. I just was answering the question, and I also knew that what I was making he wasn't gonna like.

So I don't want to tell you because then I get to hear you be upset about it. Yeah, and so I would just say, I'm making dinner, and then you go, Oh no, it's dinner. And I and then he'd walk away in a hop. Get all upset. So I said last night, well, you won't have to hear me say I'm cooking dinner, and he's like, Yeah, but I'm gonna miss that. Yeah, no, you're not.

And we had lentil chili the night before, and he complained about lentil chili. Who puts lentils? And I said, You don't even have to have you can make whatever you want. You don't have to have lentil chili and he went, yeah, but I'm kinda lentil chili was kind of good. You make no sense. Boy. Oh man.

Well, then you said something very troubling. You said at one point, like you're gonna leave work and you're gonna go a different direction to your house that isn't to our house. And then he was it was like, I'm not ready for that. I don't want to do that. It's a big moment. It's a big, big moment. So it's a lot of change.

It is a lot of change. So and then our daughter was at work, and when she came home, she noticed that he had moved some stuff out, and she went, we're so stubborn.

I said all of his stuff. He moved he moved like some records in a shelf. Yeah, like and she's like, he move, he's moving stuff.

And she broke down. Did she? She started crying. She was very sad. He's my best friend.

He's not.

I know left yet. he is not even moving to a different city.

Well, he's got this little car. And I said, I said, dude, if you're moving with just your car, it's gonna take you four months to move. Like there's no rush.

Well, that's what, yeah. I'm like, dude, you're in the same city. Yeah, you can come over for dinner.

I could ride my bike to your house without breaking a sweat. It's not that far.

Chill out. Everybody chill out. It's gonna be okay.

Well, I just everything's gonna be so different.

Like, it's you're right. We're gonna change the locks on the door. We're gonna call you by a different name. That's right. You're gonna come in and we're gonna be like, who are what are you? Yeah, who is this? You're not welcome here. Yeah, what are what are you? Uh it's fun. It's fun.

It's uh it's it's shaking up the house.

It is shaking up the house. But it'll be all right. And it's a slow process. And guess what? I think there's as sad as it is, it's also very exciting. And there's a small part of all of us that's like, Oh, it's gonna be great. It's gonna be, it's gonna be okay. Yeah, we're gonna be all right.

It is it's gonna be cool. It's gonna be cool. Eventually, it's new for everybody. I like even, you know, I'm I occasionally I'm like, man, it's gonna be weird. Like just thinking about like the noise is gonna change and like, you know, but eventually, like this is the the inevitability is that like in another couple of years, it's gonna be you and me and the dog.

Like that's a thing. And the other day you and I were eating. Why does the dog have to be in the picture? Just the other day, both of the kids were mad at us for something. Right. And I said, Are we empty nesters yet? Yeah. You're gonna miss this. You pulled some pretty sweet looking raspberries from your raspberry plant.

I'm so excited. I pulled like 30. Yeah. I was blown away. Like ever since the temperatures kind of cooled down a little bit. And uh, and uh like the sun isn't just beating my garden to death.

Uh things have started happening. And the raspberries, uh, I feel like they I I'm like, I haven't had raspberry plants until this year. I feel like they were late blooming. Like I I got like, I don't know, five or six over the course of the summer, and then all of the sudden they are like, let's make some fruit. Kapow. And I, yeah, I pulled 30 of them the other day. And they're plump and they're huge and delicious. They're awesome.

And our son Beck was like, I love these. These are good. And I actually didn't even know that he liked raspberries.

And I thought To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen him eat a raspberry until he ate those. And he was like, These are way better than any store-bought raspberry ever. And I went, I don't think I've ever seen you in your whole life eat a raspberry. That's what I said. Like I've known you for 22 years almost, and I haven't seen you eat a raspberry.

I didn't know you liked those. And he goes, I like all fruit. And I said, Bananas? And he said, Yep.

I don't think I've ever seen him eat a banana in 22 years. I don't think strawberries?

And he goes, Yeah, I like strawberries. And I went.

Cantaloupe. What did he say about cantaloupe? Is he a big fan of melons?

He does not like watermelon. I know that much. Um because of the water in it. I don't I don't know. But I said, We have fruit all the time. Like we have raspberries all the time.

We have apples, we have oranges, we have lines.

Every time they go bad because nobody's eating them. Right. And he says to me, My 21-year-old son who has lived in that house for ever. Since he was born. Says to me, Well, which one is the fruit drawer? And I'm like, You have gotta be kidding me. No.

And then open the fridge, and he was like, I don't just open the fridge, and I went, You live here, man. When what do you mean? I I was blown away. I was also blown away.

Yeah. But then he saw the fruit drawer, and guess what he found? Moldy strawberries. And then he was very grossed out and threw them away. Well, he was gonna put them back, and then he was like, I'm gonna throw those away.

Yeah, oh yeah. Good idea. Awesome.

He threw away the moldy strawberries.

Because here's something that I know our kids do. They open the fridge, and if they can't immediately see something like they close it.

It's open for about 10 seconds.

Putting pulling out a drawer, that's too much work. No way. Moving stuff to find, that's too much work. Yeah. They can't be bothered. Right. They better open that. How many yogurts are in there? Um, I don't know why. Because somebody quit eating them. Are you kidding me?

I think there's a bunch of yogurts in there.

Dude, here's what I can't even handle.

You can't keep up with the flavor change. I can't. Yeah.

I love this yogurts. I can't get enough yogurts. Great. I got 10 for 10. They were on a deal. Right. Stock the fridge. I don't like that. Yeah, I think there's like eight in there. I can't even with these kids. Are we empty dusters yet? No. Well, which one is the fruit drawer? Well. Oh my. You're going to have to look. You're going to have to pull out a drawer, kid.

Guess what's in the other one? He didn't even look in there. Vegetables.

Never open that up. Fruit one, a vegetable one. And then the one down there that's got applesauce, pudding, jello, string cheese. All kinds of stuff. Yeah. We talked about this the other day. There is food in our house, but our kids are like, we don't have anything. Well, nothing good. I'm like, what do you want? Fruit snacks.

Oh, well, no, we don't have fruit snacks. But also, make sure you get the right ones because if you don't, then I end up eating them because I don't care.

Because they all taste the same. Because it's fruit snacks. And they're delicious.

All right. So there's a little bit of uh speculation and theory around what's going on with your Minnesota Vikings. Here's the deal. You're three and oh. Yeah. Strong. Yeah. Right? Great defense.

Yes. Questionable offense right now. And and the only reason we're going to break this down is because you're having a little bit of a crisis over the news.

Yeah. That the Vikings may be in a position to trade for a new quarterback to come in and really strengthen your offense. Because you have two right now. You got rid of JJ McCarthy. He went over to the Giants, uh, and that's where he's gonna be playing football. I'm happy for him.

All right, good for him. But that leaves you with a QB one and a QB two. So you don't have a lot of depth at quarterback. You've got Kyler Murray and you've got uh Wentz, right? Yeah, Carson Wentz. Yeah, so those are your two quarterbacks. So the theory that's going around right now is that your Minnesota Vikings may propose a trade to the Los Angeles Chargers for Justin Herbert, who's a great quarterback and would do well in Minnesota with Addison and Jefferson.

And now what happened was that in this discussion, our son explained to you that they might be willing to trade Justin Jefferson for Herbert, adjusting for a Justin, and you ha are having a real problem.

I can't even I can't even. I had to physically stand up from the table and walk away when he was telling me. Yeah. And he said, Well, Justin Herbert's a good, he's a good quarterback. You'll do you'll do great with him. And I said, But I can't lose Jefferson. We can't lose Justin Jefferson. Right.

And that's not even on the table. You said it was. No, I said nothing. Our son said they would have to trade a lot for him. He's expensive. Here's why Justin Herbert is expensive.

Okay. He has a massive contract right now. He is locked into a long-term extension with the Chargers through 2029 with a ton of money attached to it. Uh the Chargers have built their roster around Herbert as the cornerstone.

So it would dismantle the Chargers to do it. And they would want in order for the the Vikings to secure a an elite quarterback like Herbert in his prime is an expensive move. So it would likely cost them a lot of draft picks and and potential players to make it happen. Why this would be good is because pairing him with Justin Jefferson completely changes your offensive scheme and your offense now matches with your defense, and your team becomes a Super Bowl prominent stoppable insane team.

They kind of already are. We're at 3-0.

In your defense. In your defense. What else? And you've not been playing good offense.

Okay, but listen, we're playing the Dolphins next. Easy win.

Oh, I hope so. I hope I hope that's true.

Oh, yeah. it is true. I can't listen to me. I'm fine to get Justin Herbert, but at what cost.

Do you want to some other news I heard yesterday? What? Tyreek Hill may be coming back. No way. Tweeted, I think I'm ready for cold weather.

I didn't think that he was going to be around. Where's he going? Not back to Miami.

Somewhere with cold weather.

There's lots of places. Buffalo. That's the coldest. Okay. I think.

Which would be interesting because Buffalo and Miami have had a bit of a rivalry, which is an interesting thing. You know where else has cold weather? Where? Minnesota. I mean he's Minnesota.

He's fast. Is he a is he a wide receiver?

He's uh I think he's a wide receiver.

I can't remember the plane.

I can't remember that position. There's an interesting thing with Tyreek being out there. It's an interesting thing. He's he's looking healthy. He's looking fast.

He told me. And then Beck told me that KOC might be on the line. I told you that. You told me that. Yeah, he might be. My coach, Kevin O'Connell. Might be great.

Trying to save his job. They got a new GM. The new GM's the one that got rid of JJ McCarthy. You got some shakeups coming your way. I don't like it.

I don't like it. I don't like football.

You've got a great defense. You need help on the offense. That's it. Yes, you do.

We're about to be four and oh. Get out. Get him get a stronger quarterback. We're talking to our son Kyle. This we've talked a lot about our son this episode.

This is today has been uh yeah, it's been sun heavy, yeah.

But we we were talking to him the other night about some of the stuff he might need when he moves out, and we were like, let's let's go to the store and get some stuff. And he's like, oh, I'm not well, he hates shopping more than I hate shopping. He hates shopping.

Well, he he doesn't see the point of going to the store if you don't have money to spend or I agree with you. Like he's he's just like, why would I just go look at stuff?

Yeah, I agree.

And I'm like, Because you never know what's new. How are you gonna know, man? Get out there. Check out the world. I don't like that. Stuff's happening. And he's like, nah, I'll go to the store if I need to go to the store.

And I'm I have a list and I have an agenda and I get my stuff and I get out.

And he definitely got that from you.

Well, because shopping is the dumbest. Okay.

Um you don't just like to go look and wander the stores and see the stuff.

I do not like wandering the stores.

It's a good time. Nope. I can walk into any place, be like, what do you sell? No, I know.

I absolutely know that about you.

You got a deal? I'm looking for a deal. And they're like, what do you need? And I'm like, I don't need anything, but I love a good deal. So what where's your clearance section?

You got a good deal I can find? That's what I love. I know you do. I like hunting for deals. I feel like I'm like uh like a treasure hunter, you know?

Okay. Like uh I I look through a clearance rack and I'm like, this is my size. I like it, and it's two dollars. That's a deal. What a deal. $15 pair of pants. That's a deal.

We were trying to convince him to go to the store. We're like, let's just go look. You kind of need like a place to hold some clothes. Like we can we can go find like a closety dresser type situation. Right.

And he was like, ah, I've had a long day. I don't want to go. I don't, I would just go home.

And we said, well, let's go check out this place. They close in about 30 minutes. And he goes, No. Well, I said, I don't think we'll have enough time to go to that store. They close in 30 minutes. And he said, We'll have time.

What are you talking about? And I said, We're not gonna have time. And he goes, Well, people aren't often in stores longer than a half hour. And I went, uh, yeah, they are. Have you ever gone shopping with your father?

What are you talking about? I'm hunting for deals. Sometimes that takes longer than 30 minutes. Yeah, I know. Because sometimes you gotta wander the store because they don't put the clearance out in the front. I hate it.

You gotta go find the store. You gotta go find the the stuff. I like walking down the aisles looking in the cases, seeing what's for sale. Yeah, I know. You know, I like looking for for some tags. I found a coat the other day, like a good coat for $35. And I went, this is this is a hundred dollars coat. Hundreds dollars.

Yes. It's hundreds of dollars. And I found it for 35, and I went, I got a deal. Look at me. Popping tags. I got a deal. You're It's so dumb. Why?

Don't say popping tags. I was excited.

I like uh I'm uh I'm a little bit of a brand name snob when it comes to my thrifting. I I will specifically like go to a thrift rack and I'll look through it at just the tags in my size. I'm like, do I like this brand? And if I find like a good brand that I know is an expensive, like well-made product, and I find a good deal on it, I go like, yeah. But if I'm shopping through it and I go, like, I know this costs 250 dollars new, like, you know, uh, but I can get it for if they haven't marked down to like less than 50, I I struggle to not take that deal. If it's like 70, 80 bucks for it, I'm still like that's too much. I agreed. But it's like a 300 thing, and I'm and it's down to 80, and I go, nah.

I agree. It's too expensive. It's gotta be less than 50 for me to feel like I'm getting a deal.

If it's 80, I'm like, this is deep discount, but it's too rich for my blood. Who was who were we talking to the other day that rounds up? Maybe you weren't in that conversation.

I don't think so. Somebody said that like when they think about money, they look at the price tag, and if it's like $80, they go, that's a hundred dollar purchase. Whoa. Yeah.

And they said, if it's $30, that's $50. What? Yeah.

If it's $18, I'm breaking a $20. Like, Well, yeah, that's... Right, but it's just scaled up. If it's $80, that's a hundred dollar bill. And I went, that's actually that makes a lot of sense. Because if you think of like if you're thinking about if I'm looking at $50, I'm like, yeah, it's $50. 40 bucks, I'm like, that's $220.

I can handle that probably. But if I look at $80, I'm spending $100. That's expensive.

I can't be doing that. That's made of money. It's a girl, man. It makes sense.

It's good, man. Anyway, you want to go shopping? No. Why? Because I hate it. It's so fun. It's not. Let's get some deals. Pop some tags. You're gonna wander around. Yeah. Get my steps in.

Have you noticed that when you do shop and you're wandering around that I'm just kind of lagging behind you? Like I'd rather be a little bit more than a little bit. Yeah, no, I know. Okay. Keep up. No, it's not any fun. Keep up. Shopping is the worst.

Is it would you rather this or that?

I know the date this morning has gotten away from us.

I know. Would you rather mowing the lawn? You hear this guy? Yes. You hear this guy outside mowing the lawn? Crazy.

Would you rather have a self-driving car or a robot that can do all the household household chores? Interesting. I'm picking the robot. Are you? Yes.

What household chores is the robot gonna do? All of them. Hold on. Slow down. Is this like a Rosie from the Jetsons?

It's gonna do the dishes. He's gonna unload and load the dishwasher. It's gonna clean the counters. He's gonna sweep and mop. He's gonna clean the bathrooms. He's gonna vacuum. He's gonna dust. All of them. All of them. I'm happy to do the laundry. I don't mind doing the laundry. I'll keep that job. But what if you didn't have to? I mean, sure. If you can do that one too, take it.

These are a lot of inside chores. What about outside? You do the outside chores. So the robot doesn't get to help me.

Well. What kind of house outside chores do you want it to do? Mow the lawn. Clean up after the dog.

Get rid of the weeds. Pull the pull the weeds in the wildflower bed. Okay, sure. Get rid of the stumps I need to get rid of. Get rid of the weeds in the path. Sure. The garden to the berry cake. Can do that too. Can do that too. Sort the paint. Whoa.

You're a little hot. Take it down.

You said I don't get the robot.

I picked the robot for myself. You pick the robot if you want the robot.

You said the robot doesn't get to do my chores.

Do you want a self-driving car

or a robot that does all your chores? I don't want a self-driving car. I don't either. I want a driver. I don't even know about that. You don't just want to relax? Yeah, maybe. And not have like I want to be transported. Okay. But I don't want the car to drive itself. I don't want the autonomous driving thing.

Okay. So would you rather have a but I would like to be transported. A driver who drives you everywhere or robot that does all your chores.

I would rather have a human do the chores. Okay. Because then I would be giving back to the economy and to someone's life. I would feel better about that than a robot.

I wouldn't feel better about that. I wouldn't want I don't want to. You don't want a person. My stuff. No, because it makes me feel like a dork.

Mostly I need to go talk to this guy who's mowing this lawn and say, hey, will you come mow my lawn? That's what I really need to do. Hey, will you come mow my lawn? That's what I need.

I want the chores taken care of so that I don't have to do them, so I have more time to not do chores. Okay. But what am I gonna do with all that free time? Oh, so much stuff. So much. Okay. Think of all the fishing. Oh, yes. Good call. I'm picking the chore thing. That's it.

We kind of start the morning with a good news story, and I'm gonna end the day today with a good news story. Okay. This is super cool. There is a woman named Amy in Wisconsin, and she is a former pediatric oncology social worker.

Wow, there's a job. Holy smokes, that's a job. Right. She has founded the nonprofit project called A Doll Like Me. And she is handcrafting custom dolls that reflect children with physical disabilities, medical conditions, and unique traits. I love it. She noticed uh in 2014 when she founded this project that children in play therapy rarely saw themselves represented in mainstream toys.

So she customizes dolls for each specific child. And there are dolls that feature limb differences, prosthetics, feeding tubes, birthmarks, scars, all kinds of things.

Have you looked at some of the pictures on the website? If you go to a doll like me.com, you can donate to this. This is something very worthy of your time and energy.

It relies the project relies on community sponsorships and crowdfunding.

I love this so much.

It's just the best. These little dolls that r represent these kids are as amazing. Yeah. This is so cool.

Uh yeah, this is really cool. A doll like me.com. Uh, you've got to check out some of these dolls. And you're right. There's been, you know, amputations. There's been uh, you know, even like Tina here who is uh blind, she has her her blind cane, she has a patch over her left eye, so does the doll. Like I know. Well, this is amazing.

Leah, who is an amputee, it looks like. And she she's she's wearing a shirt that says ten fingers are overrated. It's so funny. But her doll is also an amputee. I love it. It's amazing.

I like Zach. Did you see him down here with his green glasses? His doll's so cool.

I know. It's the best.

These are so cool. You gotta check it out. A dolllikeme.com. Uh that's really cool. That's a great story. That's the best. That's a that's the right way to end this week.

I know. We're gonna wrap up today's show. Hope you have a great rest of your Friday. Have a great weekend.

We will be back on Monday. I'm gonna go take a nap. Okay. I'm not.

I'm not either, but I wish I was. I'm gonna go wish I was taking a nap. Okay.

Yeah. Have a great weekend. We'll be back to uh Monday. All right. See you then. See you later. Bye.
