Right on Rangers LIVE!

Game 162 made the season final. The problems were months old. Texas lost 6-4 to Minnesota, finished 80-82 and watched Houston take the AL West at 81-81 after a season full of chances the Rangers never consistently cashed.

Austin looks back at the urgency problem that followed this club all year, the decision to pull MacKenzie Gore in the finale, and the accountability facing Chris Young and Skip Schumaker. Then the conversation turns toward 2027: meaningful roster turnover, the hitting operation, Ezequiel Duran as a model for a more athletic lineup, the pitching decisions around Gore and deGrom, and why another mostly unchanged roster would be hard to justify.

What is Right on Rangers LIVE!?

Right on Rangers is where Rangers fans ride the season in real time.

The LIVE shows are the heartbeat. Big wins, ugly losses, bullpen chaos, breakout heaters, trade rumors, roster debates, and the takes that come with actually caring about this team.

Sometimes those takes get hot. That’s part of watching 162 with people who are invested. But the reaction still has receipts. We use stats, film, history, roster context, and what’s happening on the field to figure out what the game actually revealed.

Between LIVE shows, we go deeper on the players, decisions, stories, and moments shaping Texas baseball.

Rangers first, always. When the calendar turns, the Cowboys, Longhorns, Mavericks, and the biggest Texas sports stories get their run too.

If you want sterile box-score recaps, this probably isn’t your show. If you want passionate Rangers talk with actual baseball underneath it, welcome in.

Hi and welcome to another edition of Right

on Rangers Live coming at you.

Bottom of the eighth inning.

Minnesota adding on 6-2 ball game and

unfortunately the Rangers season just continues to slip

away.

Astros leading 6-0 as well.

Not looking good and it is all but

over for Texas in the 2026 season.

Gotta finish it out.

We've been with you for 161, well not

quite but probably at least 145 plus ball

games if I had to guess.

Gotta finish it out.

Have to see it through to the bitter

end and here we are.

We are going to talk all things Game

162, finish this one out with you and

hopefully enjoy each other's company at the very

least.

For one more show in the regular season

here in 2026.

You have a lot to go through today,

a lot to unpack.

I'll try to fit it all into one

show.

Got a lot to say but first of

all you guys know the drill here at

Right on Rangers.

We cover everything Texas sports but we put

a huge emphasis on the Rangers during the

MLB season.

We thank you for choosing Right on Rangers

for all of your Rangers content.

Drop a comment, drop a question.

Would love to hear from you.

Absolutely.

But look, this one I don't know that

we can continue to talk about in terms

of optimism and hopefulness unless you have just

an epic comeback here by Texas or by

the A's of Sacramento at this point.

And that game is 7-0 with the

Astros threatening by the way.

Bases loaded now.

So Rangers really had an opportunity coming into

this weekend.

You would have swept.

It's I think it's the toughest part about

this.

If you would have swept the Twins, you

would have the division celebrating.

Unfortunately, you get embarrassed on Friday night.

Jacob deGrom lets the team down in his

biggest start of the season.

And the offense doesn't come to play either.

Two quick runs and never score again.

And then today in what is definitely an

urgent situation, you have Texas only scoring two

home runs by Diaz and home runs by

Jansen, your two catchers, the only positive outcome

for Texas offensively.

Just that I have to say my reaction,

not anger, just sadness.

It's definitely a season of what could have

been.

I look back and I checked all of

the losses this year.

It was kind of a painful experience, honestly.

But last night after the show, I just

thought to myself, man, how many games did

Texas have right in front of them for

the taking?

And it was a lot.

It was a lot.

It's just a really disappointing run through all

the different games that Texas lost that you

could have won.

Very winnable games.

And just reflecting on things that we've talked

about already, how many Rangers fans would tell

you it's a long season?

Dude, it's one game out of 162.

Do people understand we're, I mean, not anymore

if we lose this game, but we essentially

lost out on the playoffs by one game,

by one game.

And how many times did I try and

remind people that's all it's going to come

down to?

It's going to come down to a game

or two.

It always does.

And you're going to look back on these

losses and you're going to wish that you

would have played them with a little bit

more urgency instead of continuing to say, man,

we're going to figure it out.

The team is going to reach its ceiling.

They just haven't hit full potential yet.

All those euphemisms, man, throw them out the

window, flip some tables in April.

Like that's the point here, right?

It's okay to have a little urgency in

April.

And if skip would have come out or

CY would have come out and said

something along those lines, who could fault them?

I mean, if you would have said in

the media after a bad loss in April,

you know, these losses matter too.

We don't want to look back on these

losses in April and regret because we were

too worried about slow play.

And we were too worried about overreacting.

Don't get no hit by the Astros.

That to me, soldier.

I talked about that list that I went

through of all the losses this year.

To me, that that's the most embarrassing loss

of the season.

The nine, nothing, no hit by the Astros

is the most embarrassing loss of the season.

Speaking of embarrassing plays old man Seager, they're

not quite able to bend over and get

to that one.

That ball's got to be caught.

You know, Foscue, I know some of you

guys don't have the game on anymore, probably

watching Cowboys.

That's ridiculous from Seager.

I know it doesn't matter, but it just

puts a little bit of a cherry on

top of all this.

What a ridiculous base hit there.

These just can't bend over far enough, man.

Come on now.

Disappointing.

We're going to do a Cowboys show later

today.

So I do want to just let y

'all know that right now.

We will do a Cowboys show later today.

Second half is not even quite upon us.

So just know if you're here for Cowboys,

we will definitely be hopping on in the

fourth quarter.

I know some of you guys are ready

to be done, but I definitely want to

talk this one out and hear from you

guys.

Sorry about the video playing, by the way.

I think I accidentally hit the space button

or something weird.

My bad.

Cowboys aren't having much better of a time

right now either.

Javante Williams' fumble, and the Ravens are about

to make it at least a one-score

game here, maybe a two-score game.

Bradford in the game, by the way.

First and second, two outs.

Six to two, twins, if you're just joining

us.

And on the other side, you have the

Astros now up eight to nothing, going into

the bottom of the seventh inning.

A's good for nothing.

Good for nothing, but it wouldn't have mattered.

That's the part that I focus on.

It just wouldn't have mattered.

The Rangers and the effort, it's just a

very quintessential way for this season to end.

This is a very fitting way for the

season to end.

This team really could never step up in

a big game.

I mean, I know there's a couple of

times I'm being a little bit exaggerative.

I'm being a little bit hyperbolic, but it

felt like over and over this team could

just never step up in a big game.

Today's a big game, and you just came

out with very little edge, very little momentum.

After a nice win yesterday, you needed urgency

today.

I do think the Skip Schumaker pull of

gore was absolutely 100% the wrong move.

I know some people were telling me he

was getting hit hard.

He didn't have his normal fastball velocity.

I totally get that he wasn't perfect, but

he had retired seven in a row.

I don't understand pulling gore there.

No feel.

That was totally, we have it mapped out,

and we're going to go ahead and pull

the trigger on the game plan that we

discussed before the game.

There was no feel involved in that move

to pull gore.

No feel.

I definitely feel like that was CY and

Skip sat down, and they said, hey, we

want to get MacKenzie Gore through the lineup

one time, and then when a certain hitter

comes around the second time, let's go to

Silseth.

That, to me, is 100% what they

decided to do.

You don't pull a guy who has just

retired seven in a row.

You don't pull that guy.

You at least let gore get in a

little bit of trouble.

You don't sit him down when he has

retired seven straight.

Seven straight.

It's crazy.

What are we going to do this offseason

as an organization?

I definitely think that the Rangers have some

soul searching to do, but I don't know

how much they actually will do.

I put out a tweet right before I

got on the show here, and I just

feel like you might see them run this

back.

That is honestly my worst fear, is that

they try to run this back.

I don't think it's as crazy of a

conclusion as you think, that they decide, we're

just going to keep the same guys.

It's the lockout.

We don't want to do anything crazy.

We don't want to rock the boat too

much.

It's a little bit uncertain.

There might not be baseball.

I definitely feel like it's a possibility that

they run it back again.

G-Man, I appreciate you, man.

I saw your comments earlier.

Yeah, Josh Jung, he definitely is going to

need to heal up this offseason, and hopefully

it's nothing career altering, but appreciate that information.

I enjoyed chatting with all of you guys

as well.

Wednesday night is typically my offseason pod for

the Rangers.

Hope you guys will consider hanging out even

in the offseason.

We do a show every Wednesday night for

Rangers baseball.

Works out well.

Thursday is NFL.

Obviously, Saturday, Sunday, football.

Friday night, everybody's doing their thing, and there's

college football going on Friday nights as well.

Wednesday night has been a nice night to

get together in the offseason and talk Rangers

ball.

This Wednesday will be our first offseason pod,

and we will see what happens in the

immediate aftermath of the season.

We'll also do some playoff baseball talk in

general.

That'll be our show moving forward.

I know the games are obviously not completely

over yet, but with the Astros leading 8

-0 and the Rangers down four runs here

in the top of the ninth, it's looking

all but over.

We will start on Wednesday.

Wednesday night will be our first offseason show.

Playoffs will be upon us, so it'll be

fun to talk about some playoffs.

I think I've told you guys I love

playoff baseball.

I'm not one of those fans that if

the Rangers aren't in it, I can't watch.

I'll watch.

I definitely will need a couple of days

to get over this one.

I'll have some content out over the next

couple of days as well from the pod,

but Wednesday, I'll be ready.

We'll talk Rangers offseason.

We'll talk playoffs as well, see what's going

on.

They'll start Tuesday.

Astros are going to be playing the White

Sox, so we become big-time White Sox

fans, the fighting Will Venables.

Let's go.

Hopefully, they can knock out the Strohs in

round one.

That'd be the plan.

Keep on rolling.

Jayrock, what's good?

Yeah, Cowboys are not looking great today.

They are down 17-10.

Field goal just kicked after the Javante Williams

fumble.

We will be talking Cowboys a little later

on today in the fourth quarter.

We'll keep rolling.

A lot of people are asking about next

year, and Brian makes a good point, YouTube

comment here, if there's even baseball next year.

That would be terrible for me.

I'm really trying to be optimistic.

You guys know.

Clearly, I want to see baseball played.

We all do, but I tell you guys,

this is not my only gig, but it's

one of them.

Just for the sake of business, I surely

hope there's baseball next season.

I've got a couple of other plans, if

there's not, for whatever reason.

Corey Seager, looks like he is going to

go deep here to make it a 6

-4 ballgame.

Let's see what happens.

Rangers trying to make it interesting here.

You're still not going to get nine unanswered

runs from the A's, but finishing on a

winning note, it's a very small consolation prize.

Very small consolation prize.

Let's see.

Matt says, I can't watch October until the

Astros are eliminated.

I do think, for me, I'm always going

to find a way to watch, especially when

they're playing.

I want to see the Astros get eliminated,

just like they do for us, man, just

like they do for the Rangers.

You know they're watching for that reason too.

I'm not even shy about it.

I know that that's kind of like the

back and forth diss between fan bases.

Like, oh, you're more worried about the Astros

than the Rangers.

That's just what you do when you're a

fan.

You worry more about your team, of course,

but there's no shame in hate watching the

division rival.

No shame in it.

That's what I will be doing starting Tuesday.

Appreciate all you guys.

Thank you so much.

Hey, Jacob, thank you for the gift.

I appreciate that, man.

Means a lot.

Not needed, but much appreciated.

We'll be watching Yankees Red Sox, that's for

sure.

That's the matchup, isn't it?

Yankees and Red Sox in the wild card.

That's going to be fun.

See, this is the kind of stuff I

don't like to miss out on.

That's going to be a classic series.

Playoffs, actually, because of the Rangers futility, I've

actually been able to watch a lot more

of the playoffs and not worrying at all

about what's happening with my own team the

last couple of seasons.

Not really the place I'd like to be,

but I guess the silver lining.

That will be another chapter in an epic

rivalry.

Nate, well said.

YouTube comment there.

Let's see what we got.

Rangers had it in their hands, Brian says

from YouTube here.

That's what makes it frustrating.

Oh, yeah.

I mean, they absolutely had it in their

hands.

There's no doubt about that.

So many bad losses this year.

I mean, we were here talking about most

of them.

Nine nothing, no hitter at home against the

Astros, probably the most embarrassing.

To me, that's the most embarrassing loss of

the season.

The Astros, nine nothing, you get no hit,

a combined no hitter.

That one is by far the most embarrassing.

Burger's going to and Rangers are down to

their final out of the season.

I think the Minnesota loss on Friday night

was probably number two for me.

Most embarrassing losses.

I think Friday night's loss to Minnesota was

number two on the list.

You had the 15 to one July 17th

game against Atlanta.

July 8th at home, that was MacKenzie Gore

starting.

You got blown out by the Angels 13

to one.

That was up there.

Most embarrassing losses of the season.

I do think the Boston loss where you

gave up the three run bomb at the

end.

Latz, that was number five for me.

You lost to Minnesota on June 16th in

Arlington by a score of 12 to two.

The Mets seven to two loss about four

days ago.

Rangers season coming to a close here.

Ezequiel Duran flies out to left field and

that'll do it for 2026.

The Rangers finish in second place in the

AL West.

The Astros are now division champions.

Tough day.

Yeah.

Well said Dave Raymond.

They got close.

They got close.

Come on now.

Tough day.

It's right there for you.

Tough, tough season.

Just kind of hit me now watching that

final out.

But look, we put a lot of time

and a lot of heart into the show

and into covering this team much like you

guys do at home.

And it always hits me hard at the

end.

And I really don't know where the team

completely goes from here.

I know what I would do.

I would definitely be blowing some things up.

That's for sure.

Not a hard, not a hard fire sale

or anything like that or a hard reset,

but I would be making some trades and

I would be turning over this roster a

little bit.

I don't know if the Rangers are going

to do it.

In fact, it's not going to surprise me

if they run it back again next year.

It's just not going to surprise me.

I think the Rangers very well may do

that because of the lockout.

Now, clearly you've got guys on the one

-year deals.

You're not going to have Cal Quantrill back

next year.

Cal is probably going to get paid nicely

somewhere else.

Elias Diaz, he might walk.

I hate that Elias Diaz might not be

a Ranger in 2027, but I'm not sure

Elias Diaz is going to be back.

He should be.

Danny Jansen definitely came on well, I think

the last week or two, but it's really

too bad.

I know he was hurt most of the

year, but just started off so poorly.

And then in general, I think I want

to make sure this comment gets read out

loud.

Swolger, YouTube comment here.

Appreciate you, my guy.

No more platoon players.

Need more everyday players.

100%.

The Rangers just have way too many one

-trick ponies.

I've said this multiple times.

They have way too many guys that are

only good against right-handed pitchers.

They're only good against left-handed pitchers.

They can only play one position, and maybe

that one position they can't play very well.

You've got guys that are not extremely athletic.

You've got a few guys that are very

athletic.

Carter, Lankford, Duran, and there's others.

But you've got a lot of guys that

are slow, old, and you need to do

a bit of a reset.

I don't think you need to sell everybody,

although I don't think there's really anyone untouchable

on the roster.

I do think a player like Zeke Duran

would be nice to keep around.

He can do so many different things on

a field.

I'm not saying that he is, you know,

totally untouchable either, but in terms of what

you're paying him and the control that you

have over Duran, I really think that Duran

should be a guy that you probably try

and keep.

He could be a solid piece of a

rebuild.

You're not paying Ezequiel Duran a ton of

money, man.

And he does so much stuff, and he's

a good presence in the clubhouse.

Plays with energy and passion.

You definitely love to see guys like that

out there.

I'd love to see this team get guys

that are more passionate and energetic out there.

Look, I will definitely tone down the political

correctness a little bit on this last show.

And I'll just say this, so many times

we kind of get told about this team,

they just have a certain way of doing

things.

You know, they just kind of handle their

business.

You didn't handle your business this year.

And most of the guys on the team

play pretty emotionless.

I don't think it's something that fans really

care for or care to see.

And I don't think that the last three

years looking at the results, I don't think

that you can continue to run it back

with some of these same dudes.

But I kind of got tired of people

defending the lack of emotion and passion coming

out of this team.

And now that they've missed the playoffs for

three straight years, I think it's really time

to let loose a little bit.

We have to stop with this business-like

mentality.

They're not handling business.

There's no business being handled.

You missed the playoffs three years in a

row.

So can we stop with the, hey, look,

they just handle their business, man.

They just kind of do the right thing.

And, you know, there's a lot of good

guys and they just handle their business.

There's a lack of emotion in which this

team plays the game.

You look at so many different other Rangers

teams and it's hard to miss.

I mean, and I see it so much

doing my Rangers history posts.

I mean, it's a night and day difference

when you look at the 2010 team, when

you look at the 2026 team, night and

day.

And I'm just tired of the excuses being

made of why it's fine, why it's okay

that this team for the most part plays

pretty emotionless for 162.

Robert Garcia, Alejandro Osuna, those are the guys

that probably show more emotion than anyone.

Zeke Duran a little bit as well.

But so many of our players, even that

are energetic, I feel like are overshadowed by

the bigger players on this team that just

kind of go through the motions.

To me, I'm sorry.

Like I know I try, I typically try

not to play the psychologist role, but like,

there's definitely a mental issue with this team.

There's, there's a mental issue with this team.

They, they don't get up for the big

games.

You've seen them fail in big games so

many times.

And you know, the, the mentality that the

April and may games don't matter, Cody, you're

talking about it right now.

Like the mentality that the April and may

games don't matter.

Don't overreact.

It goes along with what I'm saying, because

every time this team struggled, all you heard

was basically no emotion.

Nobody was ever getting pissed off that we

were losing these embarrassing games.

I started listing some of them off, right?

You know, you lose to the athletics nine

to two on September 2nd, you lost to

Houston on July 31st, 11 to two.

You lost that raise game in late July

that you punted on.

Remember that game where we didn't use Latz

totally punted on that final game where you

could have won a series against the rays.

There's so many, and you know what, after

every one of those embarrassing losses, we just

got told the same thing.

I'll just, just wasn't our day today.

And you know, we, we haven't really seen

the best of this team.

That was the reminder, literally all season long.

We haven't seen the best of this team.

This team hasn't even hit their ceiling yet.

And JK, I'm with you.

Where are all those people?

But here's what I've always told you guys

is so tough for me is it's such

a catch 22 for me as a, as

a creator for the Rangers, uh, not working

for the Rangers, but obviously for the team,

um, making content based on them is all

the people that love to do the optimistic

stuff the entire season, all the people that

like to clap back at those that are

overreacting early on.

I mean, what am I supposed to do?

Go and find all those tweets and tweet

Adam, you know, update like, you know, what

am I supposed to do?

I don't want to be a jerk.

I'll maybe, maybe you guys want to fight

that battle.

I don't want to fight that battle.

It's a lose, lose for me in a

way.

All I can do is just give my

genuine takes and not worry about what happens

afterwards, but I'm not going to go back

and find all those tweets and holler at

those people.

See, I told you, it's just not the

thing that I want to be known for

doing, but I understand the frustration I do.

I definitely in, uh, in my frustration, I

want to do things like that, but I

know it's just not worth it.

It's not worth my time, but all those

people that did that to a lot of

you guys into me this year, dude, relax,

dude, it's April dude.

They played 30 games.

I just will never listen to those people

again, those people.

And this is the most critical I'll get.

Those people are optimistic and I appreciate that.

But at the same time, those people are

kind of a part of the problem.

Rangers baseball in general.

And I know that this is getting into

like Josh Hamilton territory, like when he exited

Arlington and went to LA, but there's not

enough passion.

There's not enough passionate fans that don't put

up with mediocrity.

I've said that, and I'll continue to say

it.

There's way too many fans that are just

interested in sugar coating everything and only being

positive, never criticizing the team.

In fact, you're not a real fan.

If you don't ever criticize this team, I

would love.

And I know some people like there'd be

a lot of Rangers fans would say that

like the Boston fans and the New York

fans are toxic.

I actually appreciate that.

Some of those fans are as passionate as

they are.

We could use more of those types of

fans.

Now look, getting nasty, you know, vile obscene,

you know, attacking other people.

Yeah, obviously I'm not talking about that kind

of stuff, but I am talking about a

refusal to be okay with losing a refusal

to be okay with it.

I'm just never okay with losing.

And I can't sit here and say that

I'm ever going to be running my account

in the way that maybe some others would

like me to.

Hey, just, just be a fan.

Just be positive all the time.

I can't do it.

I can't, uh, you guys know if there's

a good thing that's happening on the baseball

field with Texas, you guys know I'm going

to be posting about it.

If there's something bad that happens in the

course of a game, I'm probably going to

be posting about that too.

I try to be very fair in that

way.

But one thing I'm never going to do

is sugarcoat ever.

Christina, appreciate the comment.

YouTube comment got chewed out in the ranger

subreddit for saying something negative about the team.

I'm not shocked.

I get blocked left and right by people

that don't, that I don't even say anything

vile or obscene.

They just don't want the negativity.

They don't want any criticism.

They just want to bury their head in

the sand and pretend like everything's fine.

And you know, if we would have made

the playoffs today, how many accounts would have

been like trying to dunk on me or

other people that were critical at any point?

There would have been a ton.

The reality is though, I'm not going to

be doing that same thing to them that

we didn't make the playoffs.

I'm dealing with my own emotions.

I love this team so much.

And I hate, hate that they are going

to be sitting on the couch in October.

I hate it.

It is what it is nano.

I'm with you.

Rangers fan for life.

Never going to stop cheering for this team.

And those of you that joined in for

the first time this season, man, I appreciate

you nano.

Thank you for the gifts.

It's not needed, but it's much appreciated.

It really is never going to stop covering

this team.

If you joined up and started following the

show for the first time this season, I

just want to say, first of all, thank

you.

I really appreciate it.

This was the biggest year for right on

Rangers.

You know, out of all the, this is

the fourth year I've been doing this.

This was the biggest year by far I've

ever had.

And a big part of that is, is

you guys, a huge part of that is

you guys and you showing up each night,

even when it wasn't the most fun thing

to talk about.

Even when we were frustrated, it definitely couldn't

have been done without all you.

So thank you for all of you that

showed up each night commented that engaged with

all the posts that shared it with other

diehards mean so much.

This was the biggest year I've ever had.

And I'm sad that next year might, might,

we might not have baseball next year because

there was so much good momentum built up

this year.

And I hope it can continue next year.

I'm definitely praying that it all works out

and there's not a lot of baseball missed.

I'm going to try and continue to be

positive.

I'll definitely cover the off season.

Like there is going to be baseball, but

I'm a little bit worried at this point.

I'm not going to lie a little bit

worried that there may be some games missed.

And obviously none of us want to see

that happen, but it looks like it might

be a little bit inevitable, but we'll be

here.

I think you guys have seen the, the

one thing I am is consistent.

We'll be here.

And you know what?

We'll get through this.

We'll mourn for a couple of days.

We'll watch them play off baseball, cheer on

the white Sox against the Astros.

Hopefully we'll Venable and company can put the

Astros out of their misery.

It was a tough year for them too.

They had a lot of injuries, a lot

of issues.

Of course, I'm not cheering for them to

do anything special in October who would be,

but we'll see how white Sox fare.

It's definitely, I think, wide open in the

American league.

And we'll talk about this more on Wednesday

show.

I always do kind of an, in general

covering of the playoffs, kind of tell you

who I think will win.

We kind of go through each series.

So if you still want to talk baseball,

we'll definitely still be talking playoff baseball on

Wednesday.

And then we'll be covering any Rangers news

that surfaces over the next few days.

We'll probably get some, I'm sure there's not

going to be maybe a ton of decisions

being made, but I'm sure over the next

72 hours, there absolutely will be raise red

Sox Yankees.

I think those are the only legit teams

in the AL.

Yeah.

I think the raise to me are probably

the team I'm looking at the most.

I just think they've got, they've got some

ball players, man, that just play the game

the right way.

And they've got Caminero, obviously the power,

they've got some great pitching.

I think the rays are probably the team

that I'm looking at more than any, but

Hey, nevertheless, we'll see how it plays out.

Nice thing is I don't really have a

dog in the fight.

Really.

The only dog is whoever's playing Houston.

That's the dog in the fight this year

for me.

I'm not even going to lie, Gerald.

Thank you for the comment comment from YouTube

here.

Appreciate the realism all the way through Austin.

We don't, we don't need false hope.

We need to make moves.

Unfortunately, we didn't sell the farm and let's

come back with a chip next year.

Look, I definitely feel like the farm is

going to be an interesting situation.

I know some people feel like we need

to restock the farm.

I just think either way, you need to

get new people need to get new people

in the mix.

Whether you trade pieces on the farm to

try and get better, whether you sell, we

just need new bodies.

We cannot do this again next year.

And that is honestly my biggest fear.

It is my biggest fear that we run

this team back next year.

And we do four years in a row

of this same team that will disgust me

more than anything.

I would love to see not everybody, but

at least somewhat of a reset.

I do not want to see them, you

know, trade one guy, let one guy walk

and, you know, bring back mostly the same

lineup.

It doesn't work.

This isn't working.

You missed the playoffs three years in a

row and make J to answer your question.

A thousand percent.

Yes.

You absolutely should have CY on the hot

seat.

He should have been on the hot seat

this year.

You missed the playoffs two years in a

row.

You should absolutely be on the hot seat.

And honestly, I think that skip probably should

be on a warm seat.

I don't know if I would call it

a hot seat, but I do think that

skip should be on a hot seat.

I don't think skip seat should be cold.

That's for sure.

I think he will get next year.

I don't think he's getting fired by any

means.

That would shock me.

I do not think skip will be fired.

I do think next year, if they don't

make the playoffs again, you could potentially see

skip in a parting of the ways.

Skip's biggest thing this year was, you know,

we were supposed to have him doing more

with less, right?

And you could argue that last year there

was, there was a little bit better pitching,

but you could argue we had a worse

offense last year.

Stats wise, that might be accurate.

And skip actually, I felt like did less

with more in that regard.

Now, again, the pitching was better last year

under Bochy, but you actually had this team

do worse last year.

Last year, they were at least 81 and

81, 80 and 82.

This year, you got worse under skip.

You didn't get better.

You got worse.

I definitely think that skip should be on

a warm seat and that if they missed

the playoffs next year, there should be serious

consideration to parting ways with him.

I know that Jared Sandler, and I know

that there's some others around the team that

really believe in skip.

I don't understand where that belief and hope

comes from after watching this.

It's my personal opinion and it's an opinion.

It's not rooted in fact, but I think

they're a little too close.

They all interact with skip a ton guys

like Jared.

They, I mean, they take the plane together,

man.

Like they, they're with skip a lot and

I'm sure skip is a good dude.

I, we don't get to see that side

of skip, but I'm sure that skip is

not a bad person, but I just think

a lot of those guys are too close

to the situation to really give you an

accurate opinion, to give you an accurate conclusion.

To me in this case, I think knowing

more actually gives less credibility because if you

watch this team and you watch last year's

team totally without knowing who the manager was,

everybody would tell you that this looks like

a worse team.

This team played worse defense, made more mental

mistakes and in general looked lost more in

big games than they ever did last year.

Skip had one good season with the Marlins.

JK says that one good season with the

Marlins in which they won a lot of

one run games.

I think I went through this with you

guys.

They were something like 30 plus wins and

like less than 15 losses.

Like it was like a, almost a 700

winning percentage skip had with the Marlins in

2023 when he won manager of the year

and they made the playoffs, which is not

sustainable.

If you know anything about one run records,

that is not sustainable.

Skip to me, I think was a little

bit overhyped.

I hope that next year, kind of like

will Venable will Venable was not good in

year one with the white socks, made some

rookie mistakes that were pretty publicized.

And then this year he's led the white

socks to the playoffs and nobody really expected

them to make it to the playoffs.

It is possible that maybe skip sophomore season

is a little bit better, but I do

think that the jury is out and the

seat should be warm.

We'll see what ultimately happens, but I would

imagine next year, CY seed is hot

and skip seed is warm.

And we'll see how the team comes out.

Skip to me definitely could have been a

little bit more assertive and passionate with this

team.

I'm seeing a lightning.

Appreciate Joel.

Appreciate the comment.

Skip seems to have no passion.

He's just there.

I bet he is passionate behind the scenes,

but this team just needed a little bit

more vocal.

They needed to be a little bit more

vocal about what was going on during the

season needed to be a little bit more

vocal about the shortcomings, what guys were not

doing, right?

There was really only a few guys that

maybe are a bit untouchable or intimidating to

skip.

I think the idea here is skip in

year two needs to be a little bit

more assertive.

You had him maybe stepping back a little

bit, allowing CY to get a little

bit more in the mix.

I hope that skip becomes a little bit

more of his own voice in person.

It didn't feel like there was enough leash

or leeway way too much.

See why involvement.

And that's just outside looking in based on

what I've heard.

And based on what I've heard, skip say

specifically, I'm not a big fan of front

offices with their hands in the cookie jar

constantly.

And that to me is CY I

mean, skip at the beginning of the season

said that CY.

And he talked every day about lineups and

about pitching matchups and mapping out who's going

to pitch on certain days and in certain

situations.

To me, I don't want my front office

doing that all the time.

I really don't.

That's me though.

Ray Davis, I know is going to be

the subject of a lot of criticism as

well.

Not spending enough money on this team.

I mean, the Rangers are not a bottom

feeder when it comes to money spent, but

they spend more.

Yes.

But let's be real.

I've said this so many times as well.

This year, you had a lot of money

wasted on certain contracts.

You have, first of all, the jock Peterson

contract.

I don't care what jock did this year.

I really don't.

It was a better year, but it was

not a worthwhile contract.

The jock Peterson contract was a failure.

He was terrible last year.

He got better this year and was one

of the better hitters on the team.

That's not saying a whole lot, but he

was one of the better hitters on the

team this year.

But the jock Peterson contract overall was a

failure.

It wasn't worth it.

Like it wasn't you.

You had a lot of other contracts that

you can talk about as well.

The Chris Martin contract was bad.

The Danny Jansen contract is bad.

I know Danny had a couple of good

weeks, 10 the season.

That was a terrible contract.

Elias Diaz outperformed Danny Jansen for veteran minimum.

And then of course the Tyler Mahle contract

was bad.

You basically paid what 24 million for less

than 20 starts of Tyler Mahle.

I mean, Tyler Mahle was making deGrom money

per start.

He started, I think, I think Tyler Mahle

started 18 games with the Rangers over his

two years.

And I think they paid him 24 million.
[Editor's correction: Mahle's Rangers contract was two years, $22 million.]

So he's making deGrom type money every time

he goes out there, every time he went

out there and stepped on the mound.

And Mahle was dominant when he was healthy,

but he wasn't healthy enough.

A lot of wasted money.

And so anybody that is just heavy on

Ray Davis, I would encourage you push back

a little bit.

Chris Young has not spent Ray Davis' money

very well.

There's been a lot of bad contracts that

we could probably continue to go on and

on about.

It's unfortunate.

It's not all CY, it's not all Ray

Davis, but CY has whiffed way too many

times.

Look, MacKenzie Gore today, I think, should have

been given an opportunity.

I bring up Gore because we're talking about

moves that CY has made, right?

Gore actually didn't look terrible today.

Gave up the run right away, but retired

seven straight.

And then Skip inexplicably pulls him for Silseth.

That to me was a big time whiff,

again, devoid of feeling.

He just didn't have a lot of feel

in that move.

That was totally, hey, we want to go

to Silseth at this point.

We don't want MacKenzie to go past XYZ.

That to me is just not at all

what you want to do in that moment.

I don't care that Gore's fastball was ticking

down a little bit.

I don't care that there were a couple

of balls hit hard.

He had retired seven in a row.

And Silseth coming into the game, even if

you believe that MacKenzie Gore wasn't his sharpest,

bringing Silseth into the game isn't exactly meaningfully

improving your chances there.

It's not.

I mean, if you bring in Latz, okay,

and you're not going to bring in Latz

in that moment, but bringing in Silseth versus

a MacKenzie Gore that has retired seven in

a row, that does nothing for me.

Absolutely nothing.

Let's see, not letting Seager go hurt this

team.

Seager, I think is going to be an

interesting subject this off season, but I honestly

think the Rangers are in a really bad

spot.

You did not with Seager, let's be specific.

And I don't think they're in a great

spot, by the way, moving forward.

My outlook on Texas next year, and I

think it is just because of the rawness

of the loss today.

So I'm going to say that full disclosure.

I don't feel very optimistic that the Rangers

are going to be a dominant team in

2027.

I think that you're going to have to

see what they decide to do in the

off season.

But without knowing what the plan really is,

and with knowing that the Rangers probably aren't

going to spend a ton of money, I

don't feel extremely hopeful that the Rangers do

something special in 27.

Hope springs eternal when the new season comes

around.

And I think I will definitely get on

that page eventually.

But I don't feel like right now, looking

at this team, you feel a lot of

hope for next year.

And that was a big reason why I

really thought this year, you should kind of

go for it because the division was wide

open.

A lot of people wanted to see this

team sell.

A lot of people wanted to see this

team stand pat.

Some of you guys were on the page

that I was.

I just said, don't stand pat, do one

or the other.

And I always prefer that you try and

win.

I don't think that the farm system needs

to be overly emphasized over winning right now,

because you don't know when you're going to

have these opportunities again.

Like I said, bring up Walcott, start them

on Saturday.

You didn't need them on Saturday.

Look, it didn't matter ultimately bringing up Walcott.

I think they should have brought up Walcott

sooner.

I think they should have brought up Walcott

at the beginning of September.

See if he can light a fire like

Evan Carter did on September 8th, 2023.

I thought they should have brought up Walcott

at that point.

Have him DH.

Yeah, they needed to do something drastic and

instead they really just decided to do the

same thing over and over again, which is

the definition of insanity when you're not successful.

And the Rangers have now missed the playoffs

three years in a row.

Next year is going to be an interesting

year in general.

But I mean, think about the roster right

now.

You figure Walcott will probably be up next

year, right?

Walcott will probably be up on the squad.

I don't think that there's any way he

isn't unless he really does poorly in spring

training.

If he looks like over his skis in

spring training, I could see them maybe leaving

him down.

Otherwise, it feels like he absolutely is going

to be a starting player on this team

in 2027.

I don't know why you wouldn't have him

starting at this point.

I really don't.

I think Walcott needs to be the third

baseman.

Josh Jung transitioned to DH, maybe first base.

I think Young is probably going to be

around next year.

I feel like the injury, if you wanted

to trade him, the injury probably hurts your

chances there.

And I know there was some talk among

Rangers fans and even around, you know, some

of the other analysts in the sport.

Maybe you have Young on the trade block,

see what you can get for him.

I do think JJ was the best pure

hitter on the team in 2026.

I don't think there's any question in that

regard, but I do think that he's limited

in his game.

He's not going to give you a lot

defensively.

Clearly he is not the most fleet of

foot.

He's getting slower every single year since he's

been into the league.

JJ is limited.

He's very one dimensional and he's also injury

prone, whether that's bad luck or not.

He's injury prone.

He's been hurt every single year.

Feels like since he came into the league,

maybe minus 2022, where he only really played

in September.

Josh Jung is a guy that I think

a lot of teams around the league would

be interested in, but with the injury, I'm

just not sure how much his value is

going to hold.

I think Josh Jung could definitely be a

player that helps Texas next year, but you

have to weigh everything out.

Young is going to start an arbitration here

pretty quick.

I think you have him until 29.

I think you have three more years left

of Young.

Two or three, not sure off the top

of my head.

That to me is a good crossroads to

examine where you're at with the player, how

much you really value the player, where you

see the player going.

I do think it's a real discussion.

Is this a one hit wonder for Young?

I don't think that that is a totally

out of left field, terrible question to ask.

Is Young going to repeat what he did

this year with the bat?

You'd like to say yes.

You also have to realize after injuries to

Josh Jung's wrist in 2024, he was never

the same player as he was in 2023.

He finally got that back this year.

Even this year, I know he had a

couple of home runs at the end, but

he didn't really have the same pop as

what he had in 23.

In 23, it looked like Young could be

a 20 to 25 home run guy.

This year, he was hitting the ball better,

but he still really didn't have the same

exit below or power that he demonstrated in

2023.

I do think that Josh Jung is a

player that probably going to be one of

the most interesting watches in the offseason.

First of all, how does he get better?

How does he heal and progress in his

recovery?

Then also, what do the Rangers do with

him next year?

I really don't think you can run Josh

Young back at third base.

The body, you need to be healthy.

Third base, a taxing position.

I would be trying to move Josh Jung

off of third base for a number of

reasons.

JK, I'm with you on Burger.

Burger drives me nuts, either strikeout or home

run.

Burger, to me, is way too streaky.

I know there's going to be a lot

of casuals that point to the RBI total.

I think that Burger is a guy that

you definitely consider getting on the trading block

and seeing what you can get for him.

Burger, to me, could be a nice platoon

guy next year.

Maybe he's a guy that you work out

a little bit more at third base so

he can be a first base, third base

option.

Burger, to me, is another one of those

guys that is a little bit too one

-dimensional.

You don't have a lot of options with

Burger.

You really don't want to have him play

third base because you've got better options at

third base.

He wasn't great at first base this year.

He had his moments.

I know that he had the errorless streak,

but nevertheless, he didn't really overly impress you

with the glove at first base this year.

I definitely feel, at this point, Burger and

Young have similar issues, but Young is clearly

the better hitter.

They're both a little one-dimensional, but Young,

with the season that he had at the

plate, much, much more likely to stick around.

If they run Burger back at first base

every day next year, that would be extremely

disappointing to me.

Could you keep Burger on as a platoon

player, a bench player, a nice power right

-handed bat that you bring in against lefties?

Yes, but for me, I want to see

some changes, man.

I do not want to see them continue

to run out the same guys.

Foscue, to me, had a nice year, but

Foscue is another one-trick pony.

All he can really do is hit lefties.

He's not a great second baseman.

Definitely had a nice little run of defense

this season, but nobody's rating Justin Foscue's defense

in the organization, trust me.

They would much rather play somebody else at

second base.

That's why Nicky Lopez continued to get as

many starts as he did.

Let's go to a couple other comments here.

We have, what do they do with Burger

and Jock?

Bando, what's good?

Bando, I know you've been commenting a lot.

Thanks for your patience, man.

Jock, to me, you're not bringing Jock back.

That would be, to me, asinine to bring

Jock back at $18.5 million.

I don't know why they would do that.

That does not sound smart to me, but

maybe they will.

Maybe they'll say, hey, we don't want to

let him walk.

We don't really have any better options, so

we're going to bring back Jock.

I wouldn't be bringing back Jock and spending

$18.5 million on a part-time player

that can only hit against righties.

That is a lot of money to spend

on a part-time player that doesn't hit

against lefties.

That's not at all what I would be

interested in, but it wouldn't shock me if

the team runs it back with Jock.

Again, I said that at the beginning of

the show, and I've said it pretty often.

It's just not going to surprise me.

For everybody that complains about spending money, if

you go spend $18.5 million on the

Jock mutual option for next year, and it

is a mutual option, the Rangers and Jock

both have to agree on it.

They both have to come together.

I think Jock would be happy to sign

that.

I don't know that he's getting $18.5

million on the open market, and that's why

I don't think the Rangers should do the

deal.

Now, the nice thing is you can retain

his services, and if he's able to do

what he did this year, it's not a

bad bat to have, but at the end

of the day, it's just not a guy

I want to see be brought back at

$18.5 million.

I think you could use that money in

other places.

I would go sign a pitcher.

They really, I think, are going to need

pitching help at this point.

I would rather spend $18.5 million on

a good starting pitcher per year than I

would to run it back with Jock.

TV rights are questionable next year, Zach says,

which are terrifying.

So many question marks next year.

So many question marks next year.

Like, I totally agree.

There's a lot of uncertainty.

A lot of uncertainty.

By the way, checking the comments here and

there, I'll let all y'all duke it

out in the comments, but Astros fans, congratulations.

I hope y'all lose next round, but

look, not a great year for either team,

if we're being honest, but Astros could make

it a great year.

We've been saying that with the Rangers, not

a great regular season for either team, but

obviously the Astros go to the playoffs, better

season for them.

No denying it, no denying that at all,

but hopefully they won't be playing too much

longer than the Rangers.

I think last year, a couple of years

ago, I should say the Tigers exit, hopefully

something like that in the wild card round

for them.

I don't know.

I think the White Sox being so young,

I could see the Astros overtaking them.

You know, sometimes the young thing and kind

of the lack of experience works to your

advantage.

Sometimes it doesn't.

Curious to see how that's going to work

out.

Armando question on TikTok, do I think they

bring Gore back?

They could trade him, but he's under contract

for next year.

They definitely could try and flip MacKenzie Gore.

That to me is maybe something to and

I don't think it would be the worst

thing in the world.

I have heard around the league, you know,

that there's still some people with high opinions

of Gore and there's always going to be

a team that feels like they can fix.

You know what I mean?

There's always going to be a team that

feels like, man, we could, we could turn

him back into a dominant starter.

The Rangers, they weren't using them, right?

There's always a GM that feels that way.

Always.

We will see what they do with Gore.

That is going to be questionable.

I would be offloading Gore.

I don't think that next year is the

year to retain his services.

He's going to be a free agent and

I don't think you're going to resign him.

I would absolutely try and see if you

can get a little bit of farm capital

for Gore in a trade in the off

season.

I'm definitely not at all married to the

idea of keeping Gore around for 27.

The only way you keep Gore around in

27 is if you're legitimately planning on spending

money and being a contender.

If you're not really going to go all

in, I say the same thing that I

said at the deadline, either sell players, trade

them away, or go out and make some

splashy moves so you can be competitive, but

don't try and run it back and do

this mediocre thing because then you're just missing

out on opportunities to capitalize on the value.

J.J., appreciate the comments there.

Armando, you're going to have deGrom and Evo.

I don't think they're going to trade those

guys.

As long as CY is in charge, I

don't see them dealing deGrom or Eovaldi.

First of all, the trade stuff gets interesting

with deGrom.

He has the no trade clause, right?

I don't think Eovaldi does.

Maybe he does.

I think he's done the five-year thing,

so I think Evo probably does at this

point.

I'd have to look up the rules on

Eovaldi, but it's the 5-10 rule.

Evo's got 10 years of MLB experience, and

he's played with the Rangers, I think, for

five seasons now, right?

We got him in 22, was it, or

23?

Was 23 Evo's first year with the team?

It's a 5-10, so CY has done

five years.

I think it's next year that is Evo's

fifth year, so you probably could technically trade

Eovaldi without any kind of veto needed, right?

Yes or no.

I don't think they're going to trade Evo

or deGrom, and I know that some of

you guys are saying they should trade CY.

They can't trade CY unless he agrees to

it, and I don't know if CY is

going to agree to it or not.

You might legitimately be stuck with CY unless

you're just going to release him outright, which

they're not going to do.

If they decide to really dig their heels

in, it could get ugly and to the

point where maybe CY would be open to

a trade, but I don't think they want

to make it ugly with CORY CY.

I'm not saying CORY CY is going to

be holding the organization hostage or anything like

that.

Look, he signed the contract that he did.

He's entitled to it, but I think they're

going to try and be careful with CORY.

Even moving him off of shortstop, they appear

to be kind of hesitant to do.

I think it's definitely going to be CORY

CY back at shortstop next year.

They would have to do a crazy convincing

job to get him to move off of

shortstop.

I think it'll be CY at short, Walcott

at third, opening day 2027, whenever that may

be.

Yeah, I believe that the Rangers are going

to get creative at first base.

I don't think they're going to run it

back with JAKE BURGER every day, regardless of

the RBI total.

I know a lot of casual fans like

to point to that.

If you JAKE BURGER all 162 or however

many games he played, BURGER is limited.

He doesn't hit righties well.

He doesn't play a particularly good first base.

You could keep BURGER around in a platoon

type role if you like to have a

right-handed power bat.

You could definitely use him in certain situations

late.

Maybe you could give him some work at

third base so at least you have some

flexibility in where you could play him.

I'm not saying I want to see JAKE

BURGER at third base, but I'm just saying

I would try and make him as versatile

as possible next year if you are going

to keep him.

He doesn't have zero value, but if YOUNG

goes to play first base, then Walcott could

easily play third.

I think you should DH Josh YOUNG a

lot next year whenever there's a lefty.

When there's a lefty on the mound, Josh

YOUNG should be the guy.

FOSCU to me had a nice year.

I'm not running it back with FOSCU though.

That's just my opinion.

I know some of you guys like FOSCU

and appreciate what he gave and I'm not

saying I don't appreciate FOSCU's season against lefties.

I just think they need to prioritize Josh

YOUNG's health if they are going to keep

him on the team and so if that

does come to fruition, I would have FOSCU

most likely trade or I would try and

work out something different with him.

I would not run it back with FOSCU

in that role.

FOSCU one trick pony platoon player.

We need less of those.

We need more everyday guys.

I don't want a guy that only can

hit against lefties.

It's maddening to me.

I don't want all these dudes that can

only hit one type of arm.

deGrom is handcuffing the payroll.

Derek, thank you for the comment.

Yeah, it is.

It is a bit of a handcuff with

deGrom.

That's for sure.

The deGrom contract falls off the books after

2027 as does the Eovaldi contract.

That's going to be a lot of money

off the books right there.

That's going to be a ton of money

off the books.

I don't know if they will run it

back with deGrom in 29 if I had

to guess or in 28.

28 deGrom has a 20 million dollar option

which honestly might not be terrible.

You'll have to see where deGrom is at

but deGrom is making 38 million a year

this year and next year.

If you want to bring deGrom back in

28 you only have to pay him 20

million.

That's not as bad of a deal.

Like that is not as bad of a

deal to me.

You're going to have to pay a good

starter on the open market somewhere between 15

and 20 million per year anyways.

So if deGrom is healthy and actually like

still pitching okay, 20 million for one season

of deGrom might not be the worst thing

in the world and if that is like

a last ride type season for him from

a business perspective, I could see keeping him

around as he maybe passes up some milestones

but he's definitely not going to be an

ace at that point.

You're not thinking about deGrom as your number

one or even your number two.

You're thinking of deGrom as like a solid

number three or number four while you bring

up others or you sign others around him.

We'll see.

deGrom to me is a guy that you

know, he's on for one more.

He could still give you good innings and

he can still be really good at times

but he's not a guy I'm counting on

to be an ace anymore based on what

I saw at the end of the season.

Keep on going.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

Brennan what's good?

Elise Seager comment from YouTube.

Elise Seager showed some fight at the end

I guess.

Gotta make a serious step in either direction

before whenever next season is preferred deGrom wave

is no trade clause.

I don't think deGrom is going to wave

it.

I think he likes it in Texas.

Nimmo is there now.

He and Nimmo are buddies.

I think he's got a number of other

friends on the team.

Clearly he's got a family that probably doesn't

want to move again.

I think this truly was where deGrom wanted

to finish his career and he has earned

that right.

I don't think deGrom is going to be

moving in the offseason.

Maybe at the trade deadline they could convince

him one more time but at the end

of the day I feel like he is

probably going to be in Arlington until he

retires.

Maybe if he still wants to keep pitching

he could go do the one two-year

contracts with another team but I'm not sure.

Cowboys right now by the way score is

17-13.

Ravens they have the ball and they are

at the 41-yard line.

Their own 41-yard line.

Brandon Aubrey 59-yard field goal was just

blocked.

We will be doing a Cowboys live in

the fourth quarter which is almost at fourth

quarter so we will be taking about a

15 or 20 minute break and then we're

going to be doing Cowboys.

I do think that they will be taking

a lot of offers on different players if

I'm CY everybody is available.

Everybody.

I think the only player that I would

seriously consider keeping around because he's cheap and

he's the type of player that you actually

want to get more of, Zeke Duran.

And regardless of how Zeke finished the season

hitting he kind of had a little bit

of a skid to end the year.

You want more guys like Zeke that have

good arms, are fast, put the ball in

play more often than not and can play

multiple positions.

Duran is the type of player you want

more of.

Maybe you would love if Duran hit for

a little more power but you want more

players like Duran.

Athletic, they hustle, they play the game with

passion.

I want more players like Ezequiel Duran.

I want less players that either hit a

home run or strike out.

I want more players that are multi-dimensional.

They're good in the field, they're good enough

with the bat, they're fast.

They give me more than just a good

bat.

Duran to me is a guy that you

keep.

I would not be trying to trade, actively

trade Ezequiel Duran.

I would probably be taking calls on Wyatt

Langford.

I think Wyatt, you could argue, should be

kept around.

One bad year doesn't mean you should get

rid of him.

But I think there'd be a lot of

teams interested in Wyatt and I think that

there would be a number of GMs out

there that would be thinking that, kind of

similar to Gore, they could fix him and

get him back on track and really unlock

all the potential that he has.

I don't think Wyatt should be untouchable though.

I don't think Evan Carter should be untouchable.

Walcott and Duran are probably the two guys.

I mean, look, if I'm being totally selfish

and biased, I'd like to see Osuna kept

around.

I know some people are not Osuna fans,

but I'd like to see Osuna get kept

around, given a little bit of a runway.

I don't think he needs to be a

feature player, but I'd like him to stay.

I think he has some of the intangibles

you're talking about, plays the game with passion,

gives you a quality AB.

Defense definitely could be improved.

But then again, if he plays more, he's

probably going to get better.

That typically is how it works.

The more experience you get, you usually improve.

Not always, but usually.

There's very few guys though that I see

as being totally off the table for a

trade.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

Thank you so much.

Look, we've got just a few more minutes

on the show.

Darnell, what's good, man?

Next year, it'll definitely be interesting to see

what kind of season we have.

Baltimore, by the way, driving right now in

Cowboys territory.

Got a whole new field goal here.

Darnell, I appreciate all the comments on the

show throughout all 162, brother.

You know I appreciate you.

It means a lot, buddy.

Did I miss anything else that you said?

Trade deadline, told it all.

Yes.

The trade deadline, not doing anything at the

deadline was hurtful.

I think that is 100% accurate.

Not doing anything at the deadline hurt.

Darnell, you too.

Be safe.

Take care, brother.

Hope you pop by some of the videos

in the off-season.

Feelings on Schumaker.

Worse job than Bochy last year.

I think he did worse with arguably more.

Now, last year, clearly the pitching was better,

but think about it.

You had Mike Maddox and you had Bruce

Bochy and the pitching got worse under Skip

and Jordan Tiegs.

You had Evo still.

You had deGrom, although there was another year

of wear and tear on the tires, but

I think there's an argument, and it's a

pretty good one, that we actually performed, sorry

about that, worse under Skip.

I think there is an argument the Rangers

in 2026 were worse under Skip Schumaker than

Bruce Bochy in 2025.

I definitely feel like that is not a

hot take or out of left field.

This feels like a worse team than last

year.

Now, they had a better opportunity this year

because of how bad the AL West was,

but last year's team felt better to me

than this year's team.

You had really good defense last year.

You had gold glove defense.

The Rangers won the team gold glove last

year, and they had the best pitching among

the best pitching in the game.

The offense was not good, and I don't

think that that can be underscored enough, but

this year you were just bad in every

category.

The bullpen wasn't great.

Jacob Latz excluded.

The bullpen wasn't great.

The fielding wasn't great.

The mental side of the game felt like

the Rangers made more mental mistakes this year,

and then the pitching fell off.

You definitely, I think, according to a few

of you guys, the offense needs to be

prioritized.

You need to have a better offense in

2027.

We can't keep running back this same offense,

man.

It's not going to work.

We're going to get more of the same.

You're going to get a few weeks of

heaters from certain players, Jake Burger, Wyatt Langford,

and then you're going to get a lot

of cold, a lot of cold.

In some ways, like I said at the

beginning of the show, it's a really fitting

ending, what happened today.

Very, very fitting.

I think that the Rangers had their moments

this year where they could have really taken

advantage of the context and the situation and

the cards that they were dealt, and they

just didn't.

They continually soiled the bed when it mattered

the most, and Friday night was a big

part of that.

You win on Friday night, you win today,

and you're division champions.

If you would have swept this series with

the twins, you could have been a division

champ.

You would have been the ones popping the

champagne right now, not the Astros.

But again, just could never meet the moment.

I remember making a video on that about

three weeks ago, maybe.

Meet the moment.

So tired of the Rangers having a big

chance to take control of their own destiny

and shrinking.

They just couldn't meet the moment.

Now, look, were there injuries this year?

Yes.

But let's be honest.

Even when this team was fully healthy, it

wasn't a contender.

I don't want the injury excuse to become

a prevalent thing here.

They were not a World Series team fully

healthy.

And look, push back on me if you

want.

You guys know I never, never mind disagreements.

It's actually what makes this fun.

I don't want this to be an echo

chamber.

But does anybody really think the Rangers fully

healthy were a World Series team?

I don't.

I think they needed to do more at

the deadline.

They needed to go out and get more.

Now, maybe there's an argument fully healthy.

They would have been better off at the

deadline.

Maybe they would have gone and got a

big name.

But I don't think this team as assembled

in the off season was winning it all

anyways.

I just don't think that that was going

to happen.

And so look, in the off season this

year, not really sure what's going to happen

with the lockout.

I'm not sure the Rangers are going to

get very aggressive.

I don't see that happening.

I think the Rangers are going to play

it pretty safe this off season.

I think a lot of teams are going

to play it safe unless something crazy unfolds

with the negotiations between the league and the

owners and the players.

All right.

Look, we have a couple of other things

to cover, and then I am going to

wrap things up.

We will be, and I'm going to plug

this a couple of different times.

Every Wednesday night, we do Rangers off season.

During the playoffs, we talk a little playoff

baseball as well.

So look, Wednesday night, we could be talking

about the Houston Astros getting eliminated.

Couldn't we?

That could be on the table, Wednesday night

discussion.

Astros swept by the White Sox in the

wild card round.

Could be the topic of conversation Wednesday night.

We don't know.

Maybe we'll be talking about the Strohs advancing

and getting beat up on by whoever's next,

the Rays or who's the other, the Guardians.

We'll see what happens.

We will see.

We'll be talking about any moves made in

between now and Wednesday as well.

Not sure that we'll have a ton of

Rangers news to report.

I have a few segments that have already

planned out and mapped out, but every Wednesday

we do a Rangers off season show.

And then throughout the off season, if anything

of importance happens, I'm talking about key signings,

trades.

We will do emergency podcasts for those as

well.

We'll hop on the live.

We'll talk about it immediately.

So that's the plan.

Wednesday though, circled out on the calendar.

I will try my best to advertise that

well, but I hope you'll come and hang

out.

We always still have a good time.

It's always fun talking about the new season

and what the Rangers may be up to

in the off season as well.

And just love getting together with you guys

and talking ball, talking shop.

It's always fun.

So Wednesday circled out on the calendars all

off season long starting this Wednesday.

I usually will go live around six 30,

seven o'clock, you know, central time, maybe

six o'clock.

I'll try and plan it out.

So that way you guys have advanced notice,

but it's always Wednesday just so you know.

All right.

Chase, I'm with you on this comment from

X here builder on Walcott blow.

Almost everything else up.

I keep Walcott.

I would probably keep Duran.

I selfishly, like I said, a little biased.

I would keep Osuna.

I would keep some of the young guys

like Cody Freeman, Cam Cauley.

I'd be keeping those guys.

I don't see a big reason to dump

all of your utility players.

Cody Freeman, for whatever reason, they really stopped

trusting him anywhere else, but third base.

Like I noticed last night, they did not

trust Cody to go play second.

I thought that was weird.

Like they had Duran move from third to

second.

Why would you have Duran move off of

third base?

He's got a better arm than Cody, probably

a little bit of a better glove.

I didn't understand why they're so hesitant to

play Cody at second.

And I know Cody has been on the

show.

Cody talked about he's willing to play anywhere.

So I know it's not Cody saying, no,

I don't want to play second base.

I thought that was kind of odd, but

I would keep some of those guys that

I just mentioned that can play in a

number of different spots.

Alejandro Osuna, I think his off season task,

can we drive the ball a little bit

more?

Can we get a little more power?

I think that's doable.

And then can we play some first base?

I know he's not the tallest guy, but

I think he needs to be able to

play first base.

He's a lefty, lefty, lefty throws left, bats

left.

When you're a lefty, you can only play

first base in outfield or pitch.

I think he needs to play first base.

That to me is a must.

I would love to see that happen.

And then we will see what they do

with the vets.

I think a lot of the vets are

actually going to be sticking around.

I don't expect them to be going anywhere.

Moving forward, things to look out for, clearly

off season moves, shakeups with the coaching staff.

We didn't even talk about Justin Viele.

I think Justin Viele needs to be gone.

That would be 100% what I would

be looking to do at this point.

I just don't think you can run it

back with Justin.

The offense was bad this year.

You had a lot of big names regress.

Think about a guy like Wyatt Langford.

Think about Evan Carter.

Josh Jung turned it around, but you absolutely

have to consider two of your top prospects.

This took massive steps backwards.

That to me is worthy of discussion, especially

when it comes to hitting coach.

Justin Viele and his spot on this coaching

staff needs to be under the microscope.

He has not done an outstanding job in

my book.

I know that he very well may be

an awesome guy.

That doesn't matter.

Sometimes when it doesn't work out, when the

offense is as bad as it was this

year, you got to reload.

It doesn't matter what the players are.

You have to reload.

They should have done it last year.

I think they got to do it this

year.

We'll see what happens.

By the way, Cowboys just scored 24-21.

I'm going to take a short break, and

then I'll be back on to talk Cowboys

with all y'all.

Appreciate you guys hanging out.

We will be back on Wednesday to talk

more Rangers baseball.

Just know I appreciate all you guys.

Thank you for the support all year long,

man.

It really means a lot.

Like I said, biggest year for Rangers by

far.

We grew, I'm not even joking, like 1

,000%.

Seriously, we grew that much this year.

A big part of that was because of

you guys.

I just want to say another special thank

you.

Again, you'll see us back on probably in

about 15 or 20 minutes to talk Cowboys.

It is a busy day here at Ride

on Rangers, but hopefully this Cowboys game ends

a little bit better than the Rangers game,

man.

I appreciate all the kind words.

Look, it's goodbye for now, but man, I'll

be back at it tomorrow dropping Rangers content.

We're still going to do a lot of

posting about the team on the offseason.

We'll also be shifting to football a little

bit more, basketball for the Mavericks when NBA

starts up.

There's a lot still going on with the

channel.

Hope you'll still pop in.

Even if you're not a fan of the

other teams that I cover here on the

show, hope you'll drop by.

Wednesday night, again, our Rangers offseason show.

Every Wednesday, hope you'll come and hang out.

It's a good time always.

We go for about an hour, just like

we usually do on these lives.

Hope to see you there.

Have a great rest of your Sunday.

Have a blessed week ahead.

As I always say to end every show,

God bless and go Rangers.
