Good morning. This is your insurance connection. I'm your host, Donald Marquez. On your insurance connection, we talk about saving money on auto insurance, homeowners insurance, yes, and we talk about life insurance. Welcome to the show. Good morning. This is your favorite insurance agent, Donald Marquez, right here at KUNV. 91.5 jazz and more. Turn me up, turn me up. I have a lot of important insurance news to share with you. I'm so excited. In Vegas, we're starting to cool down, and I absolutely love our cooler weather when it gets here, and it'll stay like this until May when it cools way down in the 80s and the in the in the 60s at night. I love that type of weather, but right now we're still a little warm, and we're gonna we we going to get through this and be able to enjoy this amazing Vegas weather when it comes around. I'm I'm I'm Donald Marquez, and I'm a licensed insurance agent with my own business, Your Insurance Connection. That's the name of my business. I connect you with insurance companies. I do not charge a fee to talk to me or come see me. I'm licensed with 60 life insurance companies and multiple companies for auto and homeowners insurance, boat and motorcycle insurance. I've been an agent now for 30 years in climbing. I don't know. I don't know when to stop. I don't want to stop. I really enjoy talking to the people to listen to this program at right here at KUNV every Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to 8:30. I've been on the air now close to four years right here at KUNV, and I want to thank all the listeners that came in and purchased home, auto, and yes, life insurance. Thank you so much for your continued support. Also, want to give a shout out to my engineer West. He's the best. Thanks so much, West, for keeping the time, just keeping me straight, and make sure you know we're right on point right here at KUNV. Again, I am a licensed insurance agent. I'm licensed for life insurance in the state of Nevada, California, Louisiana, Texas, and working on Mississippi and Michigan. So, if you listening to this program, and if you're in a different state and you want to get life insurance or home and auto insurance, 70223626247022362624, I like to picture myself as a, you know, one of those old-fashioned insurance agents. You know, the guy that you talk to had a suit on. Sometimes I wear suits in the wintertime. You know, I wear suits in the wintertime when my clients come in. But I I like priding myself on customer service. You know, calling back is important. Being on time is important, and I do listen to your concerns when it comes to your insurance. Most people complain about the auto insurance policies here in the state of Nevada, especially Southern Nevada. I don't understand it. I really don't. I've been in this business for 30 years. I've never seen the auto insurance rates as high as they are. I do everything I can to lower your rate. I search multiple companies because I have multiple companies to my access. I am a broker, an insurance broker. At one time, I was a captive agent, only selling AAA products and services and Allstate products and services. So I come back. I have a background of experience from Allstate Insurance Company with my own agency for eight years and an all and AAA insurance agent. And I stayed there long enough to retire. I retired in 2015. I decided to be a broker because I got tired of sending business to to the brokers. You know, I would I would talk to my clients. I can't I couldn't fit them with life insurance or their auto insurance. I couldn't shop their auto insurance rates. So I would call a broker on the phone. This person has diabetes. Can you write them a policy? Yes. This person has a history of cancer. Can you write them a life insurance policy? Yes. This person had, you know, he had a ticket in an accident. Can you write him an auto policy? Yes, no problem. It was always yes. They would never would send me any business because you know they didn't have to.
But now as a broker, it really gives me a unique opportunity as well as a unique opportunity I have here at KUNV broadcasting every every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8:30, but it gives me a unique opportunity to shop for the insurance for you. I had a very good friend of mine I grew up as a child with. You know, she called me and she said, "Don, I don't know why I did this. I went online to shop for auto insurance instead of calling you, right? And I said, "Why? Why did you?" That she said, I don't know why. What I was thinking, I went online, put all my personal information online, shopping for auto insurance. Now she's getting bombarded by phone calls. When you put your private information on the phone, right? I mean, excuse me, on on the computer, and all of a sudden the phones are ringing. The phones are ringing because they take your information and they sell it to agent to insurance agents. So they take your name, your number, and they call and they'll sell that information, that hot lead, to an insurance agent because you're inquiring about auto insurance, right? And it's like, oh, here's a hot lead. Now they sell those leads to agents all over the country. You you never know. You know, it may be 100 agents buying your one lead, and they pay a pretty good substantial amount of money for that lead, and this is why you're receiving all these phone calls months later, after you put your information on on the computer. I was gonna say almost say on the phone, but on the computer, and all of a sudden now you're receiving phone calls, and you wonder I'm tired of this. It gets you frustrated. I get it, but you open yourself up to that to happen because you put all your private information on on the computer, and now people are calling you. Not only with auto insurance, homeowners insurance, but this happens over and over again with life insurance. I see these ads on television, or call this number, or go online. Well, again, you're putting your information. You're exposing yourself online for these for these. I shouldn't call them predators, but for the agents to call you, it seemed predatory because you get you get you get so many calls and you don't you don't know who to trust. I'm licensed right here in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is my hometown. I love it here in Vegas. I grew up here in Vegas, born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm not going anywhere. I'm here for you. You could talk to me about all your insurance concerns. 702-236-2624. My location is on the corner of Sahara Rancho in the U.S. Bank Center. I'm on the eighth floor. I work by appointment. My business hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. And I do work on the weekends. For more information, again 702-236-2624. A lot of people telling me I'm you know I'm off on the weekends, so now I'm opening up the office to be available for you. But you, I work by appointment. You just cannot show up at the office on the weekend. 702-236-2624. Yeah. So getting to it with the with the life insurance, I really have some really good news. I represent a company called Gerber Life Insurance Company. I'm quite sure a lot of you've heard of Gerber, and I can write a policy from a person that's 14 days young up into the age of 14 because people ask me to insure their children, and so from 14 days young up until the age 14, I can write them a life insurance policy up to $50,000 in coverage, no physical required. Now, the the the the rates are less than $1 a day in most cases. However, when the when they turn 18 years young, they the face amount doubles. So now at 18, you you start at 50,000 for your for your oh up to 50,000 I would say up to 50,000 you couldn't get you can get uh you know 30,000, and then when they turn 18, the policy goes down to 60,000, and the payment stays the same. They're insured for the rest of their life for for up to 50,000 dollars in coverage, and the payment stays the same.
The premium, the face amount doubles, the premium stays the same. I'm always searching for the best deal for my clients, and if you have children with special needs, I have companies that will insure them as well. 702-236-2624, and I'm talking about for life insurance. I am talking about for life insurance. You know, I've had many phone calls in 30 years. People say, you know what, my teenager passed, and I don't, I won't, I don't wish that on anyone. I wouldn't. I wouldn't want to experience that losing a child. But you know, it does happen. Unfortunately, it does happen. You can insure your young children have life insurance on yourself, your family. It's important. And dad, you know, dads and men that are listening to this program right now, I have to say, the women call me more than you do. Seven out of 10 calls are women. Sometimes eight out of 10. Lately, it's born women and calling. You know, it's you know maybe women run the household. I don't know, but it's just important for men to have life insurance just as well as a woman. And to wait, I'm gonna tell you the story about waiting to make a decision. You know, when you when you go out, when you go out to dinner, you make a decision in the menu. What you how much you gonna pay, and usually with two people, you know, having a nice dinner, you know, just a maybe a steak dinner, nothing really expensive. You know, you found a steakhouse is reasonable. You know, because you know you can get skies and. When it comes to these steakhouses, and you order a couple of drinks, and you sit back and you relax, you get your bill, and it's a whopping $160 or more for that steak dinner. And let's say you go out to dinner once once a month, and and to enjoy yourself, and you deserve it. But you know, when you if you can pay, you know, almost $200 for a dinner, that's dinner. Where you can go to grocery store and buy the same food on your plate for a lot, lot, lot less. Although groceries are more expensive than a year that they ever been since I've been living, but you can still buy that steak dinner, then eat the wine, and you know enjoy yourself for a lot less. My whole point is this: you know, I want you to enjoy yourself, but it's how we manage our money is important. Money comes with no instructions. Now we can manage our money to own a life insurance policy. There's no reason to wait because you spend the money on other items, other items for pleasure, other items out of necessity, especially paying your bills. And we all have bills. I know how that is. I have bills too, but I do make enough wiggle room in my in my finances to make sure that I have life insurance. I've experienced life, you know, with people that I've loved very dearly and lost them, and I was so happy and grateful that I have life insurance for them, you know, they're gone. But I had life insurance for them. I wasn't really concerned about the the funeral cost. I wasn't really, you know, that was that was the least of my concern. You know, I had time to to to grieve. It gives you time to grieve because when that day comes, and it comes for all of us, people gonna realize how how bad your finances are. Well, you know, you should have all your financial information written down on a piece of paper. All of it. Well, you know, your your bank you bank at. If your family members don't know, you. I would I would strongly suggest put all your information on a piece of paper. Put it somewhere on a file so your family members know where the bank accounts are. And if no one is on your bank account and you getting up in age, it's you know you you can put another person on your bank account, or you can put a beneficiary position, people of a you know trust you can put on your accounts. That you know, when that day comes, it comes for all of us. People are not scrambling around trying to figure out what to do.
You know, it's already it's already heartbreaking enough to to lose a loved one, a dad, a grandfather, a brother, a husband, and now you have to deal with the financial part of it. You know, now you don't have time to grieve. You have to go right into how we how we gonna pay for this very expensive funeral services. You know you could you could be a church member for a long time, and they may still charge you for that church. You know, or if you're not a church member, you don't go to church regularly, and you want your funeral at a church, or even a mortuary, all these places cost money. They charge you, they charge you for everything: the flowers, the minister, the limos, the you know everything. It's it's just a it's like it's overwhelming if you're not ready for it, and you have to get yourself ready. You have to force yourself to do this, and sometimes you're walking alone doing this. You lost your husband, and you go in the in the funeral home and or the mortuary, I wish to say it, and you have to you know sit down with the person and go over you know these final expenses, and you have no life insurance, and they tell you okay everything's going to cost you, and and you look at the bill, and you're overwhelmed. How much this is going to cost, and and and believe me, and believe me, my experience doing this for 30 years, my life experience, and I've had conversations with people that own mortuaries, and I ask the question, why does it cost, you know, 15, $20,000 to bury a loved one these days? And they said, "Well, the cost is going up because we get our caskets from China. I'm like, "Really, caskets from China? China makes everything, I guess. You know, we need to start manufacturing here at home. But yeah, you know, we have the ground at home, we you know we have the the land, but even that the land, the opening, the closing, the headstone, they put the casket in in a vault now, you know you can choose from a concrete or nylon vault. I believe that's an extra expense. It's an extra expense to dig to dig the hole. That's an extra expense to to cover the hole. That's an extra expense. The the headstone, and and now once all that's done, you could be well out of 20 up to 23rd, maybe even $25,000. Easy these days, easy. And and the money you pay to set up your your services a lot of times too is not including. The cemetery, you know, just depends on what mortuary you go to. They can some mortuaries can include the cemetery package in there. This is my whole point. Be prepared, and if you're smoking a cigarette, I have a program. No physical exam required. Protection could start from the very first day. Most clients I speak to, their insurance start day one. Bills cash value that means money in a bank account for you as you pay your premiums over time you build up a reserve money you can borrow against now if you don't pay the money back they will borrow they will minus it from your death benefits for an example if you have $50,000 a whole life insurance and you borrow $3,000 from your life insurance policy because you've had the policy now for a while and you don't decide to pay it back. They will minus the 3000 from the death benefit, which brings it down to 47,000 plus interest. Okay, I tell my clients if you listen, if you're going to borrow money, you can borrow money against your life insurance policy. You do have the option to pay it back or not, but keep in mind you you borrow money with a probably a seven to 9% interest rate on the money borrowed. For more information, my name is Donald Marquez. I'm a licensed insurance agent, and now if you are you currently have insurance, I offer no no obligation review. I that means that you don't pay to come see me, whether it's over the phone or face to face in my office, and make suggestions. I received a phone call on my way to the studio.
You know, when a good friend called me and she said, "I have a policy. I think it expires when I turn 80, which is going to be about another 16 years from now. She's already thinking ahead because she listened to this program right here at KUNV 91.5, and she said, "You know, I listen to your program at KUNV 91.5 Jasmine Moore, and you just you know you said something that made me thought think about hmm, when does my policy expire? Term policies will expire when it's over, it's over. Yes, I know a lot of term policies say the age 95, but once the term period is over, now term is up to 30 years, right? You can get a 10, 2030-year, policy. Now, if some companies they practice selling you a 10-year policy, so in 10 years you can come back and buy another policy. If you've purchased one of these 10-year term insurance policies, you do have better options. 10 years go by in the blink of an eye, especially you know when any any age over 55, you time is just it seem like accelerates. It's like okay, I'm 55 now, and one day you wake up, you're 65, and like wow, 10 years went by, and it was like felt like yesterday. You know, I'm a senior citizen, and I understand. I understand life situations. People, people come to me with underlying health conditions, and you know, share that information with me. I want to know what medications you're taking. I want to know what medications you're on. If you have a term life insurance policy, when it does expire, it does not going to stay with you for the rest of your life. You know it's very disheartening when you buy a term insurance policy and you keep and you pay on it, and you do you're doing the right thing. Don't don't get me wrong, but people feel like they've been, you know, kind of slighted a little bit because they've outlived the term policy. With term insurance, you do have options, and this is why it's important to have a review. You know, the person that sold you that life insurance policy may or may not still be in the business. 7022362 624-702-2624. Nourse, you know, you don't have to cancel your policy. There's now if you're going to cancel your policy to replace it with another policy, I can understand that. But sometimes, you know, things that come up, and oh, let me cancel my life insurance. That's the first thing you want to cancel. Why? Why? If you have a financial obligations, and we all do, and it's a little overwhelming, you can always reduce the face amount of your life insurance policy instead of cancel it. Don't don't let that be the first thing on the chopping block. You know, reduce it down maybe like you know half of what you have. Maybe a 25% You can reduce it down by 25% You know, whatever whatever fits in your budget. Don't get rid of your life insurance, especially if you've had it for a while. You know, this is why it's important to get a review to review those options. You know, people are living longer, right? People are living longer, so we we want to make sure at your insurance connection you have the right policy that you will you won't outlive because you don't want to you don't want to outlive your life insurance policy, and this and turn will do that to you because people are living longer. You know, now when we rate you for life insurance, male and female, you know, men do it's like it's slightly higher for men. And why is that? Because men, we go we go sooner than women. Now, in my case, that didn't happen. Unfortunately, I lost my. Wife back in 2018 to cancer, it was a tough battle, but you know I I think she would she would probably outlive me. Her grandmother lived to be 105, and her mother lived to be almost 90. So I I think my wife would easy easily outlived me, but unfortunately she didn't. And but most men don't outlive women, and women rates are lower than men rates. And if you are a smoker, you know I have a program. You know it'll it will rate you as a non-smoker for the first three years.
You get a non-smoker's rate for the first three years, it's a it's a stop smoking advantage program. You could quit smoking and keep retain your rate as a non-smoker. It with a whole life policy. I could write up to $450,000 in life insurance coverage with no physical. 702-236-2624. But you know, listening to the program, most of my clients, you know, they're educated to the fact that they don't want a lot of them don't want term insurance. They said, "No, I listen to your program, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with term. No, as long as you know what to do with it. And when I offer a policy to a client, whether it's life insurance, home auto insurance, I give you instructions. Number one, when to cancel the policy, how to cancel the policy, right? Because this is procedure in canceling the policy. Or if you purchase an auto, or you sell an auto, what to do? I was speaking to a client this week, and he's getting ready to sell his vehicle, right? And I told him, I said, he said, "Well, I'll call you when I sell my vehicle, and I said no. Call me when you turn your license plates in to Department of Motor Vehicle. If you're not going to transfer those plates to another car, right? When you turn the plates in to the Department of Motor Vehicle, that's when I'll take that car off your policy. Now you can't say I'll be I'll I'll go tomorrow take my take the car off the policy today. I'm not going to do that because it will create a lapse in coverage. Again, this is information that I share with my clients when they purchase policies from me, or when you listen to this program right here, KUNV 91.5 Jazz and more every Sunday morning from eight a.m. to 830. I give you valuable information on all about your insurance as much as I can. Doing a 30-minute time slot that I have. Don't ever, ever, ever, ever purchase accidental only life insurance. No, no, don't don't do that. And unless you're an evil can evil type of person, you know, one of those people that love to live in the danger zone, mountain climbing, rock climbing, car speed boat racing, auto racing, yeah. Then you probably need a you know accidental plus a policy that will cover you for natural causes. But most people qualify even with health issues, rates, and benefits locked in for the life of the policy. This is why I love what I do because I practice a way to doing things with put putting in with the right company, and the most important thing about purchasing life insurance, it has to fit in your budget. How much you want to fund your policy each month? I talked to a customer just the other day. She purchased $50,000 worth of life insurance, whole life insurance, and I said, "Congratulations! You just put $50,000 in your account. And I asked her. She she said, "You know, I I I I appreciate what you're doing, but you said it's a it's a savings account. She yeah, she asked me it was a savings account. I said, "Yeah, you just put $50,000 in your savings account, and we did the math. It would have taken her taken her 34 years at the rate that she's paying for the life insurance policy to pay to to catch up and and save that amount amount of money because you know the banks don't give you no interest on your money they just you they take your money they use it and they and they fund other people with it and they they buy stocks with it, and they get rich on it, but they don't give you any money in your savings account. I don't think it's fair. They're getting 1520, 12% on your money, but if you're just saving your money and you think that's the plan to save money, it takes you longer to save money. You get instant savings with a life insurance policy. Only thing you do when you're buying money up front. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection. I'm located on the corner of Sahara Rancho in the U.S. Bank Building. My business hours are Monday through Friday, and now I'm working on the weekend, so it's like seven days a week now.
You know, sometimes you have. I just have to make the decision. I receive a lot of calls. I do, and I do appreciate everyone contacting me for their home auto and life insurance 702-236-2624. We'll find the right company that fits. Everybody, everybody, everybody doesn't fit in the same box. What your neighbors paying for auto insurance or life insurance is not gonna. It's not going to affect you. You're not going to pay the same rate. So when you have these conversations with your neighbor, you know you you probably be paying less. You're probably paying less than your neighbor, and who knows how much you know they're really paying. Your neighbor's not an expert. I am the expert. I love I love this business. I study the business. I look for companies that will that's affordable. The benefits are are good for you. I'm on the radio right here at KUV 91.5 Jazmor. You know, I look out for my my listeners, my customers, because you know, as an insurance broker, I'm in a fiduciary position of trust. You know, and if you need counseling on your life insurance. I'm here for you. You know, if you can pay for car insurance, you can pay for a life insurance policy. 702-236-2624 702-236-2624. My name is John Marquez. Oh, we'll do this again next week. Be safe out there. Yeah. Hey, we're getting cool here in Vegas. Enjoy the football games today. I hope you win your bets. Until next week, stay safe.
