What is Minnesota's Legacy?

Minnesota's Legacy showcases the organizations and the people who have benefited from Minnesota’s Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment in sound-rich 90-second segments.

Opening: This is Minnesota's Legacy: A look at the organizations and people who have benefitted from Minnesota's unique Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.

BRITT AAMODT: "In Progress" is a phrase that means "in the course of being done," "underway," "happening." It's also the name of a vibrant digital arts making center in St. Paul. SFX digital sounds, digital work, music

SAI THAO: It's always been about learning.

AAMODT: Sai Thao, a Hmong-American digital arts producer, co-founded In Progress because she wanted to help build the voices of young artists from rural, tribal and migrant communities.

THAO: Whether that's learning the craft, learning the tools, or learning about others, right? Because when you do that work then you can become more of what you are, and you determine what that is for yourself. And In Progress has been the space for that.

AAMODT: In Progress provides the tools new and developing makers need to create: studios, equipment, software, learning opportunities. And the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund allows them to participate in the center's Collective Mentorship free of charge.

THAO: We have had many artists come through and just really thrived and succeeded. And a lot of these artists come in young, and then they stay and over time they become the trainers or the mentors.

Closing: Minnesota's Legacy is a production of AMPERS, with support from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, more at ampers dot org.
