Every day of this show is the thing

I need to get me through the day.

And today, I need it real bad.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we cover it all.

Midday motivation every time you press

call.

Lunch with the Clydesdale.

Cowboy bring the heat.

Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.

Half hour hustle, yeah,

we building that brand.

Grab a plate, tune in now,

you part of the fam.

It's lunch time.

What's going on, everybody?

Welcome to Lunch with the Clydesdale and

the Cowboy.

What's up, yo?

Yeah,

so I literally just flew into my seat

and launched the show.

That is a fact.

Vicky and Corey have been hanging out for

a while.

A couple minutes.

Dude,

I just got out of a meeting literally

like a minute and a half ago.

Yeah.

and there's a guy there how do i

describe this so our vendor we send a

file to our vendor every quarter our

vendor can't find it of course not they

can't find it in the folder that they

set up makes perfect sense even though we

have all the receipts that it went to

the folder that they set up so our

ois guy is trying to like figure out

a way to get them back to

where they're supposed to be right and as

he does everything in the meeting he talks

to himself in this mumble whisper as he's

doing every thing and i'm on camera trying

not to lose my shit like one circus

music should be playing over the top of

this meeting because it is yeah exactly

But the whole time he's well, I,

I could move this over here and,

and if they could just pick this up

in this folder, like the whole meeting,

I will say this in dad news defense.

I talk to myself all day.

I do too.

But I,

but I have a switch that like when

I'm on a meeting with like eight,

teen other people,

I switched that talk to myself off.

Yeah.

if I'm talking to somebody, like,

especially a customer in my head,

so I'm talking to, I'm in sales,

obviously.

So, so insurance.

So in my head, if I'm,

if it's quiet,

somebody is waiting for something for it

to happen, right?

Like, and I should be moving faster.

So I'll be in the process of doing

something.

It's not anything I control.

My laptop might be running slow.

The internet might be running slow for

what I'm trying to do.

So,

i'm turning and i'm waiting and um i've

got this blue circle as soon as this

blue circle gets done i guarantee it will

be fine because i want to hurry up

and get it done um so i talk

to myself while talking to customers on a

regular basis and as mark phillips is

saying right here oh he looks at his

keyboard while he types um i look at

my keyboard while i type i shoot back

and forth i'm not like straight up hunting

and pecking

I'm better than that,

but I will look down, look up,

look down, look up the entire time.

My typing skills leave a lot to be

desired.

I am not like the fastest typer in

the world,

but I do not look at my...

I'm hitting the backspace a lot when I

type.

So, okay, there's that.

Yeah.

But I'm not looking at it.

I'm just...

Oh shit.

Backspace.

And now with all this like AI shit,

like it's trying to correct it for you.

And a lot of times it does it

correctly.

And I'm,

I've already hit the backspace cause I've

messed it up.

A hundred percent.

Yeah.

Especially on emails.

It'd be like,

it'll re-spell stuff as I'm going through.

And as it's re-spelling it,

I'm doing the same thing.

I'm backspace, backspace, backspace.

Man.

Have you ever had autocorrect?

or AI, whatever it is these days,

just look at it and you go,

I have no clue, dude.

So like,

you're not even close to a spelling of

a word that makes sense.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I will say this.

Not so much.

I am a fairly decent speller.

I would probably be Jason Hopper in a

spelling bee.

I'm just throwing that out there.

One of my best friends used to work

with this chick whenever he ran the dairy

department at a grocery store.

She worked over there.

They follow each other on Facebook.

He will send me her statuses from time

to time because...

Her autocorrect has packed up and left.

Like her autocorrect looked at some of the

stuff and was like,

I don't know what this is supposed to

be.

I'm not even going to try and just

deuced out.

And it is some of the most,

some of the funniest stuff I've ever read

in my entire life because it's not

cohesive whatsoever.

There's no punctuation at all.

Talking about her, her husband, boyfriend,

whatever, and spells him out.

h-e-m consecutively like every single time

not just like oh i absolutely accidentally

hit the e instead of the i which

is on the opposite side of the keyboard

or whatnot but i have it but i

know peoples that have put it to you

like that uh just for mirrors i've never

wanted to use the phrase what the duck

or duck you ever i've also never said

what the heel

Not even once.

What the hell?

Hold on.

But not what the heel.

Like H-E-L-L.

Correct.

Never happened.

Not once.

Yeah.

What the heel do?

Yeah, perfect.

What the heel, dude?

No, that's not a thing.

It's not a thing I've ever said.

Heel, yeah.

There we go.

There it is.

There it is.

Never once said that.

So just let the people at Apple know

that those are not actual phrases.

Sorry.

Not sorry.

These are the things that have convinced

me in my life that AI cannot take

over.

Well, here's the thing.

If it tried, we'd be like, come on,

dude.

We know that's you.

Right?

Yeah.

AI trying to take over would be like

three kids in a trench coat trying to

impersonate an adult at the bank.

Like, it's just...

Looking like McGruff the crime dog.

A hundred percent.

Unsteady on their feet the entire time.

Yeah.

There's giggling coming down from the,

from the, the feet area.

Like, no, dude, no, no, no way.

Avera says,

what does spellcheck have against us using

expletives in our prose?

Here's the thing, too, Avera,

is that it'll learn how you type, right?

And it'll want you to put in so

many words.

But as much as I use the F

word on a daily basis,

it still refuses to throw it in there.

Like,

whenever it knows damn good and well what

I want to say, and same thing,

I get to duck.

No, dude, we're not talking about ducks.

Sorry.

Do you ever watch The Good Place?

No.

That's another one that's on Apple,

isn't it?

No, it was on NBC.

Oh, no.

Kristen Bell, Ted Danson.

I know which one you're talking about.

He's in like purgatory or whatever.

Well,

the thought is that they went to heaven,

right?

Yeah.

But they call it a good place.

And there's twists and turns to it all.

None of that really matters.

But you cannot swear in the good place.

So if you try to swear,

it forces your dialect to say another

word.

And so the F word in the good

place is fork.

So everything's, what the fork?

That's fantastic.

That is good stuff right there.

It was a great show, by the way.

You can almost bet that if it's on

network television,

I probably have not seen it if it's

not college football.

That's about as far as I get on

network television.

Yeah, it's...

I'm surprised it was on network television

because it,

it was at a level that was not

what typically makes the network primetime

schedule.

Right.

Like gotcha.

It, it was a little bit,

I don't know.

I think they call it prestige TV.

Like it's like the script writing is just

so good.

And, um, just really,

really good above and beyond what you'd be

used to.

Um,

i don't even know what the hell to

talk about i did want to talk about

this um i told you like i love

to listen to the glintons but like their

start time is always always when it's

dinner time with my wife yep and i

don't take my phone to the table i

try to like unplug from everything and and

that is our half hour forty five minutes

to just be together sure right

and uh so last night i i flipped

it on saw that you had the jeremy

wi-fi again and they just got rid of

you where no where it cut off i

was getting onto the interstate and it

happens to me right there almost every day

Initially,

I jumped on and I jumped in the

wrong room because I just went back on

my phone and pulled up StreamYard and it

pulled up an old show.

And so I went on there and it

was like, the show has ended.

And I was like, no, it hasn't.

So I was sitting in a group and

I was like,

are y'all not going live?

And Garrett texted me back, he's like, oh,

we are live, dude.

So I went back and got in.

And normally what I would do is instead

of getting on interstate,

I would just take airlines,

different highway,

which has better service.

But yeah, I got up,

I was enjoying myself.

That's the best part about it is that

enjoying myself, you know,

cutting up with everybody and whatnot.

And then literally I got to the red

light and it just all through everybody's

screen went black.

And I was like, well, there that goes,

that sucks.

Well,

what I wanted to talk about is Joseph

and Meg were doing a rundown of all

of their weekend and week at the CrossFit

Games with the ranch.

They did the ranch tour.

All the people they met running into

Michelle LaTondra at Whole Foods.

Which is wild.

All the fun stuff, right?

And this happened when I was listening to

the Glintons last year on my way home

from Albany.

They were so excited about all the people

they meet.

I've lost that wonder.

Me, personally.

I have lost that wonder in all the

stuff that they've experienced.

I'm so jealous.

Sure.

How did I let it get away?

I'm thinking about all the people that...

I'm not here to humble brag or anything

like that.

I've worked really hard in this

in this thing to make something of this

podcast.

Sure.

And I've met a lot of people.

And I volunteered at Rogue to be a

part of their documentary team so I could

see what their media looks like on the

back end.

I worked at Morning Chalk Up for a

minute.

I did everything I could to learn as

much as I could about the thing.

And then they're talking about getting

Emily Rolfe's phone number.

And I'm like, oh, yeah,

I have that because...

we've been friends for a long time.

Yeah.

And I,

and I can't figure out like how to

reconnect to that.

Like, I love the sport.

I love watching everything on the floor,

but the wonder in the,

in the excitement of meeting all these

athletes.

And, and, and I wonder too,

that as I'm getting older,

I'm having a harder time connecting with

the up and coming athletes because they're

so young.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I mean, Ty Jenkins is what, twenty?

Just as I mean,

he's been in the law since twenty one.

He's on seven this morning and someone was

like, so you're twenty.

And I went, holy smokes,

this kid's twenty.

He's been in the games twice.

I understand.

Same after judging many of them.

I don't really get starstruck.

I do get excited when I meet the

Masters athletes that I've become friends

with.

Like I had,

I do get that excitement in the masters

and Joseph even said like his knees

buckled with when he met the OGs of

the sport.

Right.

The Kristen Clevers, the, the Becca Voits,

all that.

Right.

And, and I can relate to them more,

you know, they're masters athletes.

I'm a masters athlete.

Um, it's hard for me to like,

try to find something I can relate to

with Sydney Smith.

she's younger than your daughter right

yeah i'm not putting anybody on a pedestal

i i i'm not trying to put anybody

but

I think it's more about how it translates

to what we do.

Like,

I want to be excited about the things

I, I do.

Yeah.

It's not that I'm putting them on a

pedestal.

I want to be excited to get to

know them.

And I think I'm having a hard time

figuring out what that connection is

anymore.

Like I just stopped doing interviews.

Like,

I've got to figure that out.

I think that is my goal in the

upcoming months is to figure out how to

get some excitement back.

I love doing this show every day.

I'm excited about doing this show every

day.

I'm excited about doing the Sunday show

with Carolyn and Jamie.

I mean, is it just to do it?

is it just to get back into it

and just schedule it and just the thing

that you're really good at every time you

introduce it is just having a straight up

conversation with people right you're not

asking them you know what's your favorite

color and you know how many grams of

protein did you eat a day and all

of that kind of stuff like you just

sit down and people feel like at home

with you i feel i feel like anyway

and it's it's a really easy conversation

so i

Maybe,

and this is just me talking out of

my ass here,

but maybe it's just that you schedule some

people.

Some people that you might find

interesting because the people that you

find interesting aren't necessarily the

people that everybody else finds

interesting most of the time.

You interview a whole lot of people for

different reasons.

Vera says, okay, I hear you.

Let's get back on track.

Let's get Gabby on the show and ask

her why she bailed on the games.

she uh she i'll get right on that

a very she texted me back last week

and she said she'll text me back next

week it's fine uh shannon wants to know

if i'm burned out i'm not burned out

like i was excited to meet to talk

to shanna yeah like she's in my chat

every day getting to see her made me

more excited than the elite individual

games things

Who I wanted to see the most were

my friends like Ariel and Emily and those

people that I've made connections with and

long-standing relationships with.

Yeah,

so I think maybe it's just a case

of finding some of the newer people

Learning a little bit about them and

deciding, yeah,

I want to know more about that person.

If something kind of grabs you and goes,

oh,

I didn't know that this person had

whatever this is going on,

maybe that would be interesting to talk to

them about.

Because otherwise,

it's going to just be the same recycled

type of stuff that everybody talks to

everybody about all the damn time.

So Joseph's comment, can you pull that up,

Vicky?

Would it be beneficial to maybe take a

step back and be a fan next year,

not having to worry about getting pissed,

pictures or video?

I can see how someone can get lost

in that.

So I don't know if you noticed, Joseph,

but I did not even bring my camera

to the arena on Sunday.

I was just about to say,

we talked about this yesterday.

You didn't actually do any of that.

You kind of sat down and was- So

I did do that on Friday.

I was trying to get pictures.

And then Ishmael was crushing it.

And I'm like,

you're an idiot trying to even match what

he's putting out there.

And so Sunday,

I really did just sit and watch.

And I did enjoy that a whole lot

more.

um well you get to be a fan

which is what you were in the first

place right you gotta go kind of go

back to it and like that's how any

any of us got started doing this just

i was a fan of the actual sport

you know methodology sport the whole nine

yards and to be able to sit down

and go

i'm not here to take pictures i'm not

here to get an interview from every single

person as they come off the floor i

am just here to enjoy the races i'm

just here to enjoy what these people are

doing that's got to be a whole thing

yeah and i love doing shows it's it's

i think the interview thing and

I'll be honest,

the back end of doing an interview sucks.

And Joseph and Meg can probably relate

because they do a lot of that for

the Glintons, the reaching out,

the scheduling,

trying to get it to fit in your

schedule and their schedule.

Yeah.

And let's be honest,

the athletes are not the best in getting

back to you.

No.

Right.

You're one thing that's on their list of

thirty things that they're working on.

Yeah.

And especially right now or leading up to

the games,

you probably weren't on their list of

things to do.

Right.

And I mean, not you in particular,

just like anybody who's reaching out was

probably not real high on their list of

things to do.

That's why I love doing the semifinal

athletes when it was organized and you

knew who was going where because they they

never get this opportunity.

They were excited to come on.

They got back to you right away.

Like those were good.

I don't know.

I didn't mean for today to be a

therapy session, but I thoroughly,

thoroughly enjoyed listening to Megan

Joseph talk about how awesome the games

were.

Yeah.

And to be fair,

they also got to go to the ranch.

They did.

Which, for me,

I would probably have some fanboy stuff

going on if I got to go, like,

holy smokes.

Like, you know, there's the hill.

When I saw the picture of Meg with

Pukie in the barn,

I want that picture of me.

And one of the things I wanted to

ask him about yesterday,

and I didn't get a chance to,

is that

I'm willing to bet you can feel the

history whenever you get over there.

Right.

Because like,

I'm sure Dave still got shit just

scribbled on whiteboards and, you know,

blocks of stuff still laid out and

whatnot.

And like,

If you just sit there and be still

enough,

you can probably feel the history just

kind of all around you because a lot

of crazy stuff go down to that place,

not just whenever they hosted games there,

but just from all the testing and the

other things that have gone on from over

there.

I would be willing to bet it's a

pretty good time.

Smell the old sweat in the barn,

says Shanna.

Yeah.

not ignoring your comment of era um i

love seth jump ship i think he's one

of the smartest uh most um he he

conveys a message much better than most

people seth is amazing right like i think

he's very articulate that's what i i

wanted to say very articulate in the way

he speaks and i would love to have

him on and chat with him at some

point yeah um

he's extremely articulate um he cuts he

pulls no punches whenever he says what's

on his mind he says what's on his

mind um I like that a whole hell

of a lot and I liked his work

with Nickelback but that was pretty good

too uh when he said when he still

had the haircut Ken and Walter says it

was the funnest games uh of the eight

he's been to but he got to do

so much extra stuff

he did i think he did the ranch

tour too and he got the vip package

to be able to go out on that

wednesday uh yeah i already uh talked

about that one vicky um uh joseph says

you can you get the chills when you

pull up and walk up to the barn

the one thing i don't ever want to

experience is running up that hill

would yeah but uh your running skills and

my running skills do not even come i

want to run i want to run up

the barn uh you know throw a wall

ball at the side of the you know

at the side of like maybe not um

you know maybe i do some of the

other insanely crazy stuff they did but i

would definitely want to run the hill

Just to see,

because everybody talks about how steep it

actually is.

Pictures and video don't do it justice,

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

I get all of that,

but I would like to run it.

And by run it,

I mean probably walk most of it,

because it's... Yeah.

I did a warrior dash back in the

day here in Ohio at a ski resort.

And the first run was up the ski

slope.

Up the ski slope?

Yeah.

Yeah.

No, thank you.

No way to just take the wind out

of a big man's sails,

then make him run up a ski slope

to start a. To start.

Yeah.

What are you going to do?

What are we going to do to begin?

Well, to begin,

we're going to go that way.

And then the whole time I'm up on

the top of this mountain going,

when do I get the downhill run?

Come on, man.

Yeah, for real.

I need gravity.

Yeah.

I think the original leaderboard was up,

all that kind of stuff.

Ed AI says,

my leg still burned from that hill.

I ran it in twenty three.

I don't know who you are, Ed AI,

but you seem to have done a lot

of cool things in this space.

One percent.

You'll change your mind once you see it.

I thought about all the athletes that have

run up and down this hill.

I still want to run it, too.

I still want to run it.

I think he's talking to me.

Oh.

I think he's saying, like,

when you see and you look up.

When you see it, you'll be like,

I can do that.

Yeah.

Big man uphill running is a recipe for

an EMT call.

Yeah.

That's fantastic.

I know Seth was on Barbell Spin last

night.

I saw that the CAC put out the

recommendations.

here's a thing that's i'm and i here

we go i'm going to be negative and

i don't want to be i love the

recommendations that they put out for the

elite athletes but there is not a thing

to help out the masters not not even

a not even a glimpse of a suggestion

not even a pat like in a passing

oh here we go not even something in

passing where it's like oh and by the

way um yeah it

it is such a show on the on

the on the master side right now with

a lot of things the season structure a

lot of stuff and i what season structure

and this will probably get clipped and and

hurt me in the long run but it's

fine jason grubb is the only masters

athlete representing on the the cac and he

doesn't represent most of the the masters

athletes he is one of the very few

masters athletes that are sponsored

He runs a massive programming camp that

is, it seems like,

half of the Masters competitors.

He's not in the same position as the

Corys and the Jamies,

like trying to struggle to pay their way

to an opponent.

Right.

Well, Carolyn just won first prize money,

right?

But she still has a job,

a career that she goes to and whatnot.

And I've heard her talk about having to

find time off and having to...

It's not even the same category, dude.

It's really, really not.

Shanna has said this a couple of times.

He does not represent me or my interests.

Same.

Right.

And so...

If that's your only representative on the

CAC because everybody knows his name,

it's not effective for the Masters.

Stands over here saying he's not the only

Masters athlete on the council.

Well, who's the other one then?

Because I'm super curious about that.

Because I asked that question,

and the name I was given was Jason

Grubb.

Yeah.

That's the only one I've known to have

been on it.

So if he's not the only one and

we have two men, okay.

Who's the other one?

Cause I really on,

I legitimately do not know.

Okay.

I love Becca Voigt Miller,

but she doesn't represent the majority of

the athletes either.

Like she's spent the games,

she's OG CrossFit.

Like, okay.

John Kim,

maybe that's a good representative.

I don't know.

It just seems like when you look at

the recommendations from the CAC,

the Masters are completely forgot about.

Well,

they didn't mention anything about it,

so how can anybody say that they haven't

been?

Is John Kim the dude that's on the

other Masters podcast,

the one that's prerecorded?

I don't think so.

I could be wrong.

I don't think so.

But yeah, okay, see,

what Mark's saying makes sense.

He's the only one that you hear

information about the CAG from.

As far as us is concerned, like, yes,

okay, Becca Voigt-Miller's on it.

John Kim's on it.

Cool.

Awesome.

I've never heard either of them say

anything about it on any one of their

platforms,

and I know I follow Becca Voigt-Miller.

Shana makes a point that no older athletes

are represented on the, on the CAC.

There you go.

Why not have a, Oh, what's his name?

Mr. Long hair, no mobility.

Gosh, darn it.

David Hippenstiel.

Hippenstiel.

Yeah.

But there's a lot of people out there

that don't have those names.

Like why not?

Why not?

Yeah.

She's a doctor.

Yeah.

Why not Denise Moore?

There's another one.

Yeah.

I agree.

And look, nothing against those people.

Whatsoever.

But like, out of the three,

there's only one you ever hear anything

about or as any sort of forward facing

thing about as far as our representation

on that thing.

And whether they like it or not,

we are athletes.

we are competing we are the ones pumping

all the money into this thing that the

elites just won because i really and i

know it's the term because it's the those

are the elites or whatever but shannon

bunce is elite denise moore is elite david

johnston is elite it is voted on it

is voted on so

You've got to vote for the people you

want on the on the CAC as well.

How do we even vote?

So there's the divisional representation.

Right there.

Three masters.

Three adaptive.

Think john kim is masters not adaptive.

Yeah, Kim Miller and Grubber, the masters.

Yeah.

I think the others are adaptive.

Anyway.

What else do I want to say?

I don't know.

We have t-shirts.

I started bagging some this morning.

probably get some out this afternoon

hopefully but there is the qr codes if

you'd like to order on venmo or cash

app they're thirty two dollars if you're

in the united states that includes

shipping and handling and they'll be

handled very nicely by the way it'd be

handled with care um gently folded and put

into the bag

so if you want to do that just

when you send me your venmo put your

name your address and your size in the

comments i did learn that cash app doesn't

have a big huge memo section so if

you're using cash app you can dm me

your name your size slide into the dms

and make sure that when you do that

that you identify the fact that you

already sent money via cash app

Yeah, I would say in Cash App, say,

see my DM for the information.

Because Mr. KDL used Cash App yesterday,

and he could not fit all of his

information into the memo section.

That's how we learned that yesterday.

So thank you, Kenneth DeLapp, for that,

for buying a shirt and helping me discover

the limitations.

Or make one dollar payment so you can

write a bunch,

get this man a reading again.

If it's not a book, it doesn't count,

Mark Phillips.

He reads comments all day long.

It's not the same thing.

You would have to write all your comments

on paper, bind them,

get them in a cover,

and then mail them to Scott's house so

he could read them like that.

um do you do we think the elites

get too much prize purse if so why

is that a problem outside of the reason

of it's not fair or we are the

ones pumping all the money in so do

i think the percentage that the elites get

comparison is out of line no because they

fill the seats they fill the arena that

is money revenue streams that the masters

are not getting two

My issue with the prize purse is it

is way too much for first in comparison

to the rest of the field.

Yes.

I think it needs to be a little

different across the rest of the...

The breakdown needs to make more sense.

Period.

Because it doesn't currently.

And as far as that's concerned, no.

I don't think that the fact that we

pay most of the money in there and

a lot of it goes to first place

on the men and women is a big

deal.

I think the fact that we pay most

of the money that goes into it and

a lot of the people I talk to

had a less than games feeling experience

over the weekend is where the problem

comes in.

Yeah,

where you had the lower bowl filled at

the SAP center, people were paying five,

six, eight hundred dollars,

ranch experiences,

VIP packages and another three hundred

dollars a day.

There was money coming in at the SAP

center for the elites.

Yeah.

It's just the first place Masters winner

makes more than the fifth place elite

individual games athlete.

Right.

Which is the first place,

which the dude who won first in forty

five forty nine is not going to take

fifth on overall.

Yeah.

And that's really only because I don't

know if you guys know this,

but the prize purse changes as you go

up in age.

Yeah, it does.

So that's a quote of the thirty-five to

thirty-nine-year-old division.

And that's what Mark's saying right there.

The Masters game should feel like a games

competition, not any old comp.

Agreed.

I think we've beat that horse to death.

I will continue to beat it until there's

no horse left.

Three hundred K even after taxes is

borderline life changing money to someone

who is good with their money.

One second and third got off.

One second and third after taxes is

absolutely all after all the sacrifice

made.

Maybe saying is that what's what second

and third place got after taxes compared

to what first place got after taxes and

whatnot.

Daniel, that is in fact true.

I would agree to that.

Having said that,

with it being in California this year,

the first place person,

even at that three hundred K,

didn't get anywhere near three hundred K.

Yeah, Carolyn.

Carolyn got hit pretty hard.

Yeah.

saw that speaking of which i did watch

the uh the sunday night show that turned

into the tuesday night show yesterday and

uh had a conversation with miss with miss

jamie latimer afterwards and sweet baby

was it too much and i said nope

not at all because all she said is

what the majority of us

matt competitive masters athletes were

thinking she just said it out loud and

she yelled it at her laptop whatever it's

fine he had to talk with her last

night too um one other thing speaking of

jamie and carolyn we did the donations for

them with the uh super chats

I did not announce.

You guys are freaking awesome.

The chat is awesome.

We raised four hundred eighty three

dollars for them.

I rounded that up to five hundred.

And they each got two fifty for their

trip to the games.

So I appreciate you all so much for

donating to that and helping the cause to

get them there.

We have the best viewers on the viewers

slash listeners.

Viewers slash listeners.

Did we talk about that live?

The person that you ran in that introduced

themselves to you that was only listening

and then watched an episode.

Did we talk about that live?

I talked about it on one of my

shows at the games.

Okay.

I didn't remember.

Joseph Ramirez says, Heel, yeah.

Heel, yeah.

The Chatterbytes.

um am i the only hit one here

it gives a about the rules um judy

reed says she'll do the same when corey

goes can you tell this so shana bunce

has given her games jersey she says she's

a friend hold on to a friend last

last year okay and

then that person who had been trying to

make the games made the games so this

year what happened corey she messaged me

earlier this week i'm asking for my

address because she's going to send me her

games jersey from twenty two on one of

her games jerseys from twenty two she said

you don't want the one from this year

i'm assuming that means it was all sweaty

still

She said she's going to try to get

it in the mail today,

as a matter of fact.

So when it gets to me,

I'm going to put it right up in

this area, mount it right up right there.

I'm touched over the moon.

I don't even know what to do about

that necessarily,

other than to mount it somewhere where

everybody can see it.

It made my heart happy.

um so meredith saying savon had james

hobart on hobart made it sound like uh

the masters was an amazing experience

meredith i heard it differently i heard

him say could i be critical could i

nitpick sure but at the end of the

day i had a good time competing i

love competing he loves competing

Period.

He's also in a position where he's not

going to be able to comment on it.

I was about to say that the famous

clip, I say famous clip,

my favorite clip of him whenever he was

on the Best Hour Guys and he said,

maybe I'm towing the party line here.

And we say, you know, CrossFit works,

that whole thing.

It's because he works for CrossFit.

It would not be in his best interest

to go on a podcast and be like,

oh, no, it was stupid.

Also,

he's got years upon years upon years of

CrossFit Games experience.

So for him to show up and like,

yeah, I mean, it was okay, whatever.

It's just another thing for him.

He says he turns off all the outside

stuff and just does the... Yeah.

the job in front of him that's how

he looks at it um yeah so so

he just knocks it out and does what

he does and i like to think that

when i get there i will do the

same thing like who gives a shit about

the rest of it i want to be

there because i want to be competing

against the best in the world will i

be able to i hope so got my

fingers crossed for that but we'll see

Hobart does not just go on a podcast.

He gets paid to be on a podcast.

He's been on this podcast and I didn't

pay him a dime.

Not in the least.

He's been on Glinton's a couple of times.

I can guarantee you Garrett and Colleen

did not slide him a twenty.

It was a fun interview too.

Really enjoyed it.

Hobart's great, dude.

I've never seen him on

anything where i was like this is stupid

and he shouldn't be on here when they

were doing the news on the seven podcast

like back in the day when you go

jump on a sunday night and they do

the news it was one of the funniest

things i i had seen at that time

it was great

I'll tell you about James Hobart.

First of all,

I met him when he was on the

Mayhem team when I was volunteering back

in the day in Central East, right?

But anyway, I had him on the podcast.

This is the kind of person James Hobart

is.

He comes on and he starts talking about

me and my background and my history.

He had done research on me coming on

my podcast where I was going to ask

him questions.

Okay, I love that.

I love that.

Yeah.

And that's the kind of dude he is.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So there it is.

He's just a good dude.

Super, super smart.

I mean,

the dude was in law school before he

quit.

Which is...

Which if you've heard him,

if you heard him on any kind of

show,

like after you hear him talk a little

bit and realize how intelligent he is,

it tracks.

But then at the same time,

with some of the stuff that comes out

of his mouth, he's like,

and this dude was going to be a

lawyer.

Okie dokie.

Got it.

Tracking.

Makes sense.

Hobart is like one of our elder statesmen

in space.

He is.

Yeah.

Even though he's like,

he's been around a lot of shit.

You know, he's like forty one.

He already knows about himself.

You're more interesting.

That's how you feel when you're around

him.

And honestly, Rich does that same thing.

You're there to talk to Rich.

You want to meet Rich,

and then he starts asking you questions.

But yeah,

can you imagine being the parent of James

Hobart?

Kids in law school,

you're puffing the chest out.

Got my kid in law school,

and he says,

I want to quit and become a coach.

I'm going to become a coach of this

fitness thing that's going on and may or

may not be a good thing.

I'm not real sure.

That's outstanding, dude.

And made it work, right?

He's wildly successful at what he does,

still gets to compete,

still working for HQ.

Yeah, that's insane.

Averis says, okay,

let's get Hobart and Seth on the show.

We can solve all the problems in CrossFit

in one hour.

So get Mark Phillips up there.

Get John Gleish on.

For those who don't know who John Gleish

is,

john glyce is in my my age group

okay um he's got his own uh youtube

channel mf mustache uh because he's got a

big curly handlebar fancy mustache or

whatnot john we i was talking to him

this weekend and we were talking somebody

else john is probably the fittest dude

this master's athlete i know of anyway

who's never made the games yet

um he's a good dude he is an

excellent human being humble as the day is

long um and i was laughing uh so

there's the the twenty the twenty sixteen

and twenty seventeen documentary when

they're talking to pat uh about matt

fraser and pat goes he's so frustrating

john john gleiss is

that frustrating because i beat him in

every online qualifier that i've ever done

that he's also signed up for by like

two or three spots and he's beaten the

breaks off of me in every competition

we've ever actually been in live i would

love to have john john on here and

i'm sure he'd love to be on here

uh david johnson says i act i asked

him it's actually pronounced like like

mike but that's not as fun to say

it's not as fun to say and i'm

aware of the fact that i'm aware of

the fact of how it's actually pronounced

but i don't think anybody actually does

that and that's on purpose like john

gleish wears galoshes is way much more fun

to say than yes yes he is an

absolute animal it is it's wild

He looked the hundred fifty meter swim

over the weekend at Monster Games.

He side stroked the entire thing and

finished with ten seconds left.

Head out the water the whole time.

Is what it is, man.

Bro, it's it's it's bananas anyway.

Yeah.

Yeah.

We've been at this for forty five minutes

already.

Holy cow.

Yeah.

And I haven't really said anything.

We could get David Johnson on the show

if we needed to.

But I did run into your buddy Brandon

in at the Masters games.

Oh, I like it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And he came up and introduced himself to

me, which is still weird in my world.

And I've had him on the show before.

But I said, you know,

you need to come on.

And he said, oh,

I'd love to come on and have fun

with you and Corey.

Yeah.

I said, but let's be honest.

Like, how much does Corey bug you?

Like, is it every day?

Is it twice a day?

Right.

Is it four times a day?

I'm so curious as to this answer.

Yeah.

he just started laughing yeah that's all

like he didn't even answer the question no

uh i will i'll answer it for you

several times a week put it to you

like that several times a week is usually

is usually and it's usually behind

something either ridiculously silly or uh

or actually legit a legitimate question

fifty fifty shot and he's aware of that

so

uh joe valens in the chat uh didn't

get to see him at the games he's

one of my favorite people to to bump

into i know he was out there killing

it uh but didn't get to see it

yeah

Mark Phillips saying that you probably ask

Brandon, is this doable?

Are you sure this is doable?

Here's the thing is that I'll tell him

what I'm going to do as opposed to

what he actually wrote.

I usually get a really or no,

that's probably a good idea.

Depending on what it is.

But I did ask him to be on

the show and I said that you would

reach out to him to schedule a time.

Oh, okay.

So I put that on you.

Yeah, let's do it.

I'm glad you told me about that live.

Yeah.

So now the pressure's on.

No pressure.

I will get it and I'll take care

of it.

Not a big deal.

Yeah, I don't know if you know this,

but we have company meetings live on the

air.

That way I can kill two birds with

one stone.

This is actually why we got Vicky in

the back so that we can do this

live and not have to worry about doing

it later.

Right.

Exactly.

So...

Yeah.

I was going to talk about James Sprague's

legacy.

You know, we've, we've looked at,

but I don't know if we have enough

time to get into it a bunch,

but I'll,

I'll let's just tease it for tomorrow.

Okay.

So in the history of CrossFit,

if you're a multi games winner,

your legacy is kind of cemented as one

of the greats.

Sure.

But as CrossFit gets older and older and

older is, is two enough, right?

Do we put James Sprague in Justin

Medeiros' basket?

Do we put James Sprague in Rich's basket?

Do we put him in Matt's basket?

Or are we getting to an age of

the sport where two may not be enough?

And where I come up with this is

we're getting into football season.

It used to be if you won two

Super Bowls, like you were Hall of Famer,

No doubt about it, right?

Eli Manning won two Super Bowls,

can't even get into the Hall of Fame

now.

Which is bananas crazy, by the way.

Right, so like, so do we,

has he cemented a legacy,

is my question to you all, yet?

Or does he have to put together,

because he has three podium finishes.

Yeah, he does, in consecutive years.

Three consecutive years,

three consecutive podiums,

two championships.

Man, I like that.

I think the test this year was by

far the most complete,

placing him higher than Medeiros.

Yeah, but help incentive,

the test all would have been worth a

hundred points.

That one would have won.

I'm sorry, I can't help myself.

And if this microphone was made of ice

cream,

I wouldn't have anything to talk into.

Thank you.

Oh.

Tessa's saying he will if he wins Rogue.

Do we factor in Rogue on Legacy?

That's the question I was going to ask.

Do you need to factor in Rogue?

These are all the things I want you

to do some homework tonight on and come

back tomorrow,

and we'll have this lengthier

conversation.

Because maybe James has cemented his

legacy,

but does it diminish Medeiros' legacy?

Does Justin have to do more?

I think people still are expecting Justin

to do more because he won two in

a row.

He looked really good this weekend.

He did.

And it wasn't enough to get on the

podium.

uh fergie says i think spreger showed he

can go heavy and fast so he is

the total package now

so uh i'm not a i'm not i

don't buy into the jy thing because he

went all in on austin hatfield and austin

hatfield hadn't showed shit ain't did much

so i was telling the people i don't

know what those words mean no you don't

even follow him yourself i would i i

He's another one that's frustrating

because he could finish on the podium or

he could finish thirtieth.

There's no shot.

Can he finish on the podium?

Because I haven't seen that.

He hasn't proved that to me.

Capability of finishing top five podium,

whatever you want to call it.

But also seventeenth.

Had to get out his own way.

Yes, thank you.

He's not better than James.

He's not better than Hopper.

He's not better than Dallin.

He's not better than Jay Crouch.

No.

He's not better than Medeiros at this

point.

No, and I wouldn't have seen that coming.

Hell, he's not even better than Colton.

I would not be shocked if Austin Hatfield

never hits the top ten again.

I'm not saying he won't.

I'm saying I wouldn't be shocked.

Yeah, I would agree to that.

I'd have agreed to that going in.

I think Hatfield has the tools.

He just struggles to execute.

Yeah, I agree on that one.

That's sports.

Jeff George was drafted number one overall

in the NFL.

Had the strongest arm,

had the physical body to take hits and

do all the things,

and was a complete flop because he was

a head case.

Because he was a head case, yeah.

Speaking of Colton,

did we know he could fly before this

weekend,

or is that just something that's brand

new?

Dude, if that's me,

that picture's getting blown up.

Is it?

It's going along the whole back wall.

That would be my whole backdrop.

Oh, yes, indeed.

Yes, indeed.

That is maybe top five pictures of all

time.

Yeah.

That goes right up there with Kalipa,

Rich,

and was it Matt Chan shirtless at the

pool?

Yeah,

I told my buddy Jason Vines when we

were at, before we left,

like two weeks before we had to leave

to go to Monster Games and said, hey,

you know that picture of Rich Kalipa and

Matt?

I said,

we need to recreate that while he's at

the pool.

He's like, yeah, we're not doing that.

It was Bobby or like, yeah,

I think for you and I are the

only ones that even know what that

reference is.

Dude,

there's been several like that that come

out of college and was like number one,

number two, number three draft pick,

and everybody's all excited and whatnot,

and then they just disappear.

Can you go back to the John George

one real quick?

When Hogs Fly poster.

Well, you know, like,

so there used to be a rogue poster,

but my boy Jeff still has it, of,

like, Rich doing the split jerk.

Or maybe in the walking lunge, he's got,

like, four hundred pounds over his head,

had the full Rich bandana and whatnot.

That would be a fantastic rogue poster of

just him just stretched out.

I believe I can fly.

Like,

reaching out for that freaking button,

dude.

That is outstanding.

If Vindicate doesn't design a shirt with

that image, big loss.

Yeah, I agree.

Get on it, Travis.

Get on it, Travis.

I haven't seen this.

Can you pull it up?

Not right now.

We'll have it tomorrow.

i'll take these on david vicky's on it

yeah biggie's on if she can't find it

next two minutes i'll text it to you

david not a big deal jake uh that

rich poster has so many so much history

sunglasses on gymnastics tape made into

grips glad mark knows what i'm talking

about just like right off the bat dude

that's a fantastic picture if you've been

around the sport you know that yeah

I was so into the Rich Froning thing

when I first started CrossFit.

I had the bandana.

I had the necklace thing,

whatever they were called.

The puka shell, baby.

No, not puka shell.

I was version two, the braided... Oh,

the braided hemp.

And...

I had the Rogue board shorts,

the whole bit, right?

The big Terminator.

And I wanted the...

They were like sunglasses that they sold

at the games and sponsored the games,

but they were made of metal.

Like,

even the lenses were this super thin

metal.

And I wanted them so bad.

But they were, like, so expensive.

Yeah.

Because they gave them to all the athletes

when they went to the games, and so...

Gator.

They were called Gator.

Gator glasses.

Yeah.

Everybody knows.

If you've been around that long,

you know all of that.

Jake, I was into Maddox, dude.

No, Neil Maddox.

Neil Maddox almost turned me gay, dude.

The handsome man.

Quite a handsome man.

Bacon burger meat log.

I have the poster.

That poster never opened in my attic going

up in my new garage gym when it's

done.

I have about twenty old posters I bought

off the CrossFit site eight years ago on

clearance.

Those may be worth like three dollars each

now.

Entirely possible.

Careful there, John.

Don't tear them.

Don't tell Ken Walters.

He'll find a way to get them graded.

Ken Walters asked you earlier if he could

find a way to pay for the shirts

with Bears trading cards.

I didn't see that.

I used to own every Bears trading card

I ever wanted and I sold them all

off to buy a camera for this gig.

Right.

um mr david johnson oh gosh neil's been

my coach for the last six years he's

so intense like he could punch you at

any moment that's part of the charm it's

the danger i forgot david had told me

that neil was was in fact his coach

Elizabeth Akinwale, yeah,

she looked like she could punch you at

any moment as well.

Dude, I follow her on Instagram.

She still looks like she's ready to rock

and roll,

like she would go ahead and drop you

just for looking at her sideways.

There are people that when you meet them

in person, she is so striking in person.

She is drop-dead gorgeous in person.

Drop-dead gorgeous.

I have no doubt about that.

All right.

With that, we're just brambling now.

Yeah, she still could.

Yeah.

No, I believe that.

With that,

hope you guys have a great rest of

your day.

We'll be back tomorrow.

We'll talk about legacy.

What does it mean for those two-time

winners?

Flying pigs.

Flying pigs.

Does two times mean more on the women's

side than on the men's side?

All that and more tomorrow on Lunch with

the Clydesdale.

You wouldn't wait to get to the editing

room to jazz me up.

I'm already jazzy.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we covered it all.

Midday motivation every time you press

call.

Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy in the

heat.

CrossFit movies, music on repeat.
