[00:00:00]

[00:00:00] Sonia: [00:01:00] Welcome to our favorite part of the show, our Mocktail Hour, and this is where we roll up our sleeves and test out non alcoholic beverages and give you our honest thoughts. So, whether it's fizzy, fruity, or Herbal or just confusing, sit back, relax, and let us spare you the, ew, that's gross moments because somebody's got to do the dirty work and we're happy to take one for the team

[00:01:24] Sonia: we are tasting sangrias, which I will say I miss the sangria. I actually used to like making it. Um, I loved like all the fruit and everything. So here we have the sangria senor real, and it's a non alcoholic sangria flavored soda originating from Mexico. Um, so yeah, let's, I'm going to pop this one. It comes in a bottle with a bottle cap.

[00:01:54] Kathleen: sangria.

[00:01:55] Sonia: hang

[00:01:56] Kathleen: Oh, what's happening over there?

[00:01:58] Sonia: Mine's spilling.

[00:01:59] Kathleen: I do [00:02:00] miss sangria.

[00:02:01] Sonia: Yeah. Yeah. And it's hard to recreate,

[00:02:05] Kathleen: mm, yummy. Although just tastes like juice to me.

[00:02:15] Kathleen: Well, it is a soda in the, in the soda line. So, okay. What is your first impression of the flavors? I think that, I think this would be really good as a base, like to make, you know, like a pitcher of sangria. You could use a couple of bottles of this, put in the fruit, maybe add a bit more carbonation. I thought there'd be more carbonation than there actually is.

[00:02:45] Sonia: Yeah, it's not super carbonated. I mean, sangria is not typically a carbonated

[00:02:49] Kathleen: No, it's true. It's true. I don't know. There's something, it's really good, but it just tastes like a bottle of juice to me.

[00:02:57] Sonia: Okay, I would say it's, it's fizzy. [00:03:00] It's smooth and like rich tasting. It tastes kind of, has a syrupy vibe to me.

[00:03:06] Kathleen: It

[00:03:06] Sonia: It's not a complex flavor.

[00:03:08] Kathleen: is definitely not a complex favorite flavor.

[00:03:11] Sonia: Um, aftertaste, yeah, kind of has like a sangria y aftertaste. So, what do you think? You think you could use, I mean, I will say this just to put it out there, if you're going to use it as a base. This bottle has 160 calories in it and 39 grams of added sugar.

[00:03:33] Kathleen: Yeah.

[00:03:34] Sonia: going to use it as a base, I mean, for me, I would have to be mindful of what I put into it. Right? So I don't know. What do you think?

[00:03:45] Kathleen: I wouldn't drink this. I wouldn't buy this. I guess because for me, sangria is sangria. This just doesn't like if you want a fruity red drink. That put, you can put some [00:04:00] like pieces of fruit in it. Sure. But I will say like, I, this is sweeter than sangria to me. And I wouldn't, I don't think I would. I don't think that there's like, it's a comparison.

[00:04:16] Sonia: Okay.

[00:04:17] Kathleen: My opinion.

[00:04:17] Sonia: say that this has sparked to want to make a sangria. So I will post a non alcoholic sangria. Recipe on our sub stack

[00:04:31] Kathleen: Okay.

[00:04:32] Sonia: want to make a sing and you know, we have our holidays coming up I kind of want to make a sing. I think it's festive. I like things in like a bowl

[00:04:41] Kathleen: Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

[00:04:43] Sonia: Okay, next one is the we've been calling it cleaver, but it could be clever

[00:04:49] Kathleen: Huh. Yeah, I could be clever.

[00:04:53] Kathleen: sangria It's in a can [00:05:00] and It's a take on a free punch i'm opening. Oh almost broke a nail I like this one. I definitely taste the citrus here.

[00:05:13] Sonia: definitely taste the citrus.

[00:05:15] Kathleen: I taste, I taste the peach. Mm hmm.

[00:05:19] Sonia: I taste definitely peach I taste some cranberry

[00:05:23] Kathleen: Mm hmm. I do too. And I feel like less sweet than the other one. Like not as

[00:05:29] Sonia: syrupy. for sure. I think

[00:05:32] Kathleen: It also has much less sugar. 18 grams.

[00:05:35] Sonia: Way less sugar. Um, what do you, do you taste? I mean, one thing about sangria, I remember, you know, you'd throw in like some cinnamon sticks. I would throw

[00:05:45] Sonia: clove. Do you taste that? I don't taste cinnamon. I don't taste clove, but I definitely think you could add it. Yeah. I love that. You could throw, you [00:06:00] could pour this into a glass and throw in a cinnamon stick

[00:06:03] Kathleen: Yes.

[00:06:04] Sonia: or you could throw in a sachet

[00:06:08] Kathleen: Mm hmm.

[00:06:10] Sonia: uh, spices, like whole spices that you like. Aftertaste, what do you think? I kind of like this.

[00:06:21] Kathleen: Yeah. I like this. I find this really refreshing. I wouldn't say there's too much of an aftertaste actually, like It's in a good way. Kind of like makes my mouth joyful.

[00:06:32] Sonia: Yeah! Okay, what would you, would you drink this with a meal? Or would you drink it, like, while opening gifts on Christmas morn? Or, what would you, where's this fit? Is this a

[00:06:47] Kathleen: Ooh, this would be nice for a, like a Christmas. Yeah. It can be a summer drink for sure. I think this is a definite summer drink. I can see myself drinking this out on a dock somewhere. Um, I [00:07:00] also feel like you could do something really festive with it for a Christmas brunch, actually. Um, and like yeah, I do think you could.

[00:07:09] Kathleen: It, it's, I, I, I really do like it. It's refreshing.

[00:07:13] Sonia: on the can are of oranges, lemons, grapes. That's what I'm seeing. yeah, I would say I, I think because it's not a super complex

[00:07:27] Kathleen: No,

[00:07:28] Sonia: I think to add a cinnamon stick would be really cute. And maybe even maybe this is the one where you could add like an orange slice and a lemon slice and like,

[00:07:37] Kathleen: for sure. And I think put it in a nice glass, like, oh, yeah. I, I'm a fan. I'm a fan of that actually.

[00:07:44] Sonia: I'm pouring it out into a glass. It is a light pink. I love pink.

[00:07:50] Sonia: love a

[00:07:51] Kathleen: Yeah. It's nice.

[00:07:52] Sonia: Where are you on a one to 10 on this about recommending it?

[00:07:56] Sonia: I'm a nine. I'm like an eight.[00:08:00]

[00:08:00] Kathleen: Okay. Mm-Hmm.

[00:08:02] Sonia: something, but I think we can give it that something. On the Spingrias Senorial, you're a,

[00:08:10] Kathleen: I'm a four on this.

[00:08:12] Sonia: a three on that, but I think that I will take blame. I don't think it was a good head to head comparison because I think that is a soda, that is a Mexican soda.

[00:08:25] Kathleen: Mm hmm.

[00:08:26] Sonia: I just think it's not in the same category.

[00:08:31] Kathleen: Category. Okay.

[00:08:33] Sonia: I just don't, um,

[00:08:36] Kathleen: I would agree with you. It does seem like a soda.

[00:08:39] Sonia: yeah, and I will say, I mean, since when is sangria carbonated?

[00:08:47] Kathleen: I've put carbonation in my sangria before. I have. Yeah. Sprite.

[00:08:52] Kathleen: you throw in, like, I know I'm probably like, people are probably like, Oh my gosh,

[00:08:59] Sonia: I

[00:08:59] Kathleen: club [00:09:00] sodas. Right? Yeah. I don't, I don't think you're supposed to. I don't know. I, I, but I,

[00:09:04] Sonia: I can see, or like, sparkling, top it off with sparkling water. Okay, so head to head, which I don't necessarily agree with the head to head comparison, it's definitely the C L E V E R sangria.

[00:09:18] Kathleen: clever or cleaver. Yes,

[00:09:20] Sonia: Did you get this at Costco?

[00:09:23] Kathleen: I did. Yeah.

[00:09:26] Sonia: No, I think I ordered it online, but I remember that it was easy for you to get.

[00:09:31] Kathleen: I got it. And I don't know if it's still at Costco, but I did get mine at Costco. Yeah,

[00:09:37] Kathleen: it's really good.

[00:09:38] Sonia: so there we go for sangrias. I think we still continue the search

[00:09:43] Kathleen:

[00:09:43] Sonia: I think we try our own recipes and, and see where we end up.

[00:09:48] Kathleen: I agree. I agree.

[00:09:50] Sonia: has a good sangria recipe, drop us

[00:09:53] Kathleen: us know.

[00:09:55] Sonia: Well, thank you all for listening to Sisters in Sobriety and we will see you next [00:10:00] week.
