The greatest fantasy football league podcast in the history of Saddleback's central connections team
Welcome to a brand new season of well,
well, well, if it isn't the Saddleback
Fantasy Football League, I'm your host,
James Browning, and joining me as guest
host and league champion, Lindsay Sun.
Hello, everyone.
It's great to be here.
Lindsay, why don't you go ahead and
open us up with the league theme song?
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da.
Da da da da da da da.
Now, you're never going to
believe this, but Lindsay's
actually reading from a script.
Isn't that great teleprompting?
It's so good.
I knew exactly all the da's where they
went in my voice, in my vocal range.
It was great.
Pitch perfect.
Oh, for sure.
Okay, welcome back everyone,
and let's jump right in.
Lindsay, what are your
predictions for this season?
Who do you think is going to take
it all, and who do you think is
going to take the punishment?
James, I am just...
So expectant for this year and
what God's gonna do through
this fantasy football league.
Everyone was so intentional in
drafting, just kidding, only half
the people were because half the
people auto drafted, but it's okay.
I think this season, this season, I
think Bradley is gonna take it all.
Here's the thing though, it's
gonna be a really chill, like
everyone's gonna be like, oh yeah,
Bradley won, you're two, yeah.
It's not gonna be like, Yeah, Bradley won!
No offense, Bradley.
But I just I still
think you're gonna win.
Um, but it'll just be a chill Oh,
Bradley slipped on the radar.
There he is.
He won.
Um, but I think the
losing team, No offense.
At all.
I think it's gonna be Team Donis.
And that is for the sake of Them,
Both Nelly and Joe, Not checking
in on their team regularly Is why
I think that they will not win.
Like the general
upkeep, I actually agree.
I think that team Donna's is probably
going to take the punishment this year.
Not that their team's bad and
not that Joe, who's really the
brains behind the operation.
In this particular case, I
can't run a fancy football team.
I just see it as being
a lack of engagement.
But that doesn't necessarily
mean that it's going to be true.
That being said, I The big
question is whether or not they
will actually do the punishment.
The punishment has not been decided.
We'll get back to that in a minute.
But the League rules state that
if they participate, Adonis
has to do the punishment.
Adonis could be Zoe?
Could be.
Technically, it's under Nelly's name,
but it's, from what Nelly has said,
it's more or less being run by Joe.
I don't care which one does
whatever the punishment is.
Okay.
Yeah, it's up to them.
It could be Jacob?
It definitely could be Jacob.
Which would be terrible if Jacob
wound up winning the championship.
And Team Donnis lost it.
That being said, I actually think
that the, my early Initial prediction
for the league winner is team Serena.
I, despite her lack of engagement in
naming her own team or drafting, her
team is really stacked and I feel like
it might also be because I, she has.
The best wide receiver core in the whole
league When it comes to running backs,
she's pretty weak partially because
her star running back JK Dobbins is
out donezo for the rest of the season.
That was a terrible terrible way to start
but and the other Her other star running
back Jonathan Taylor broke my heart all
last season over and over and over again.
I'm so sorry.
He, he could be anywhere between
literally the best player in
fantasy football this year to only
playing one game and worthless.
So that's gonna really affect
what she does with running backs.
But I also feel like running
back tends to be the easiest
position to fill off of waivers.
There's always somebody new who like.
Rises to the top whether because the
starter got injured or something that
you scoop up off of waivers So I think
she has a shot of filling that in That
being said it's just one week so far You
can't look at the past can't compare the
past games because it's only been one
week obviously, it's a long season a lot
of injuries ahead as we know but I There
were so many fluky blowouts the first
I know it was very like Unpredictable.
And I think that you can't even
just look at week one, right?
Because it's not really setting a trend.
It's just one week.
You only have one set
of data to go off of.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And teams like Cincinnati
tend to always start slow.
Cincinnati.
Is a Superbowl caliber team and
they got blown out by Cleveland.
I don't think that's
going to happen again.
My defense won me the game last week.
They scored 35.
That's not going to happen again.
Yeah.
So if your team really dropped
the ball last week, don't assume.
Yeah.
Don't fret.
If your team really won by a lot last
week, don't let it go to your head.
Yeah.
Deflate your ego.
Just calm down a little bit.
Yeah.
Settle down, everybody.
Yeah.
Come on.
All that being said it's just one week
a lot of fantasy football ahead and
speaking of looking ahead Lindsay son
before we jump into then into next week's
lineup, let's Take a moment to remind
everyone to go to WellWellWellFootball.
com and, uh, where you can
vote on the punishment.
You have until Friday night , to submit a
punishment idea and then Tuesday of next
week to vote on what that punishment is.
The winner of that, or the...
Punishment that's decided from that.
That is what the loser has to do.
You'll also be able to find the latest
episodes of Well, Well, Well, if it
isn't the Saddleback Fantasy Football
League podcast there for those of you
who don't have teams and other fun
polls and chat throughout the season.
So fun.
I also think it's funny that you
say reminder That about this website
that you're like creating tonight?
I think that's funny.
as if people have heard it before.
You just have to create that
expectation of of course
this is an established thing.
Yeah.
It's always been there this whole time.
Just like international group stay . Yeah.
This is why we're reminding you about it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And speaking of League punishment,
let's talk about the big prize from
last year's big winner, Lindsey Sun.
Yes.
What's the prize this year, Lindsey?
I, I put a lot of thought into this.
The prize was a jersey of my choosing.
Now I chose Jalen Hurts jersey after
my all star on my team, Jalen Hurts,
who I did draft again this year
due to emotional attachment to him.
And I'm very happy with that price.
And I was thinking about it though.
And I don't think everyone in
the league would be happy with
a choice of Jersey thinking of
teams like charnar or team Donis.
They can't really pick one jersey
for the two of them, and I don't
think they'd enjoy it too much.
With that train of thought, I
figured it would be a great prize
for everyone to pitch in, let's say
like 10, because that's how much
they paid for the jersey, yeah?
I don't remember.
Great.
We'll say everyone will pitch
in 10 and we should say loser
pitch in 20 to cover the winner.
Um, so that's an even 100 gift card
to a restaurant of your choosing.
So that way...
Wow, this league got expensive.
I know.
I know.
I just picked a price
and we can adjust that.
Brando's going to have to take up
five more piano classes for that.
And five more jobs too.
Anyway, but I thought it would be nice
to have a restaurant of your choosing so
that way if Carissa and Nereida win, they
can treat each other to a nice dinner.
If Team Donna's wins the whole
Donna's family can go out to dinner.
Or if I win again, I can go to Din
Tai Fung and it's going to be so
nice and amazing with the husband
that I'll have by then, right?
Sounds delicious.
That being all said, let's move on to
week two matchups, starting with St.
Claus's versus Charnar, Nerissa, Tereda.
Chareda, I like Chareda.
Lindsay, what's your prediction
for Charnar versus St.
Clauses?
I think that, um the little cousinly
competition is pretty fun here.
I think that I might go with the
predictions that ESPN has made
that Jesus will win this one.
Um, I think it'd be fun to see a Charnar
come back and see them start the season
strong and stuff, but I think just
based on stats, I think that Jesus might
do well, and because I love Christian
McCaffrey, I think he'll probably win it.
Yeah, it's gonna be tough to beat the St.
Clauses this week especially because
I think some of Charnar's best
players, like Jamar Chase, Have not
ramped up to their top potential yet.
So I think it's going to be a slow
start for them just because of
their team, not because their team
is bad, but just because it takes a
minute for their team to get going.
So I agree.
I think St.
Claus's are going to take this one.
Hmm.
What's the next matchup?
Next matchup is Mamadi versus Bradley.
Ooh.
Well, seeing as though I just predicted
this to be the loser of the league and the
winner of the league, I think I'm gonna
have to go with Bradley for this one.
I also am thinking Bradley, but
the one wild card is Austin Eckler.
If Austin Eckler is coming back from an
injury, if he has a great game, he could
really carry the whole game for them.
But if he is Slow or being held
back because of his injury.
I it's definitely going to
be Bradley for this week.
Up next is step up versus the sons.
Hey, that's you.
Hey, that's me.
And step a pig.
Um, I think I pretty evenly matched.
Obviously I would want
myself to win, but I'm not.
I'm not too angry because I
realized that last week I had
the lowest scoring points total.
And this week, my goal
is just to get points.
But, um, I think Brando's
got a good lineup.
I'm not sure if Tua's gonna do...
As hot as he did last week compared
to Justin Herbert, which I see
that, um, Brando's chosen a bench.
He might change that, we don't know.
But I think that even though UA
popped off last week, well, did
he pop off or did he just do okay?
I can't remember.
He popped off.
He did great.
Yeah.
And no.
Oh, well, he, he did 27.
Oh, that was pretty good.
He did that consistently last year.
Mm-hmm.
Except when he was injured.
I don't know.
I think that, I have a feeling that Tua
may not do as hot this week and Brandon is
going to bank a lot on the week one stats.
So we'll see.
We'll see.
I agree that Tua is probably not
going to repeat his performance from
last week just because New England's
defense is elite, but Tua has two of
the best wide receivers in the league.
And I their whole strategy is just
chucking the ball down the field.
As long as he stays healthy, I
think, I actually think he's going
to outperform Justin Herbert.
And I agree with the,
this, I think, Stepa...
Let me look at yours again.
I, yeah, I think Steppa
is going to take it.
Yeah, my team disappointed me
a little bit this past week.
And, um, I took it a little personally,
but you know, it's all right.
We'll see if we can bounce
back from that a little bit.
The big wild card is whether
or not DeAndre Hopkins is going
to play or how much he plays.
Mm.
He was not at practice today.
That does not look good.
Why would you not go to practice?
Because he's injured.
I didn't know that.
No, he was unable to practice,
let me put it that way.
Oh, okay, I see, I see.
Held out from practice due to injury.
Whether or not he plays, that
could be the game decider.
Because if not, Let me see
who he's got on the bench.
He's also got Jay Williams.
I didn't know Jason Williams was in
the in the NFL That's Javante Williams.
Oh Yeah, it's gonna be tough to
replace him maybe Michael Thomas,
but he's not gonna be the same level
as DeAndre Hopkins So step a pig if
DeAndre Hopkins plays sons if not.
Hmm.
All right, and then up next
Serena versus the scuppets.
Oh man.
She's got boss and employee.
What do you call that?
I don't know.
Boss and servant.
Um, I think, man, this is a tight matchup.
I'll tell you what, this
might be the nicest.
This is going to, yeah, the team angel
or the league angels against one another.
I think that, ah, man, I don't know.
I think because Serena did,
I think actually both of them
did pretty well last week.
Is that true?
What did she score?
What did Hannah get last week?
I buried Hannah last week.
Oh, yeah.
She only got 100.
I think that I'll, I'm gonna go with,
I think I'm gonna go with Serena.
I was just bummed last week because
she scored pretty high, but it's if she
was matched up against probably a couple
other people, then she would have won.
It's a big bummer, but I think
Serena's team could win it.
I, I think this is going to come down
to running backs versus wide receivers.
Hannah's team definitely wins on
paper in the running back department,
and Serena's team definitely wins on
paper in the wide receiver department.
So depends on kind of The
strat of their Yeah, the game
flow for each of these games.
Are running backs going
to have strong games?
Hannah's relying on Joe Mixon, who
again, Cincinnati has a slow start.
So I, I think it's going
to be Serena again.
Hmm.
And then lastly, Baby D versus me
The two highest projections
of the week, actually.
Yes, that is true.
And he is projected to win by
a point and a half, basically.
Lindsey, what are your thoughts?
I think that German's lifeguard, James
Browning's team, We'll take this week.
Um, but it'll be close.
I think the reason why I say that
is because I look at, I don't
know, I, maybe I just don't know.
I'm just looking at it
and I just think so.
I don't know.
Just got a gut feeling.
But also, Jacob does
have Nick Chubb, great.
Josh Allen, great.
Tyreke Hill is pretty good, I think.
Tyreke Hill scored 44 last week.
Oh, pop off Tyreke.
I think also both of you have really
good tight ends, so I feel like
that'll cancel each other out.
And both of our tight ends may be too
injured to play, so also cancelling out.
It's okay, Travis has Taylor Swift
to take care of him, so he's fine.
Yeah, so Jacob...
Last week, virtually everyone, just about
everyone on his team underperformed except
his defense and Tyreek Hill, who more than
doubled his projections by 25 points.
And if you're right in that Tua does
not play that well, then that means
Tyreek Hill will probably not be
getting those kind of numbers again.
But if Tua continues to play well and
Tyreek Hill continues to do Tyreek
Hill things, then Jacob's got a shot.
But honestly, I, my team and I,
I feel like we really gelled.
Yeah.
We were just really working
together as one fluid team.
One team, as the worship acrostic
says for the letter O, one
team is German's lifeguard.
Most of my team last week either met
or outperformed their projections.
Especially my defense.
Now I can't count on my defense
to do that again, but I think I've
got enough depth that we might
be able to pull off an upset.
We're only down projected down by one,
but I think it's enough to do an upset.
Yeah.
We'll see.
All right.
Let's hear it from you.
Don't forget to go to
