Shalom Aleichem, my dear friends. I hope this finds you well. Today, we delve into the Tanya, Chapter 29, a profound text that enlightens us on the battle between our divine soul and animal soul.
Our divine soul, as we've learned, is a spark of the Divine, always seeking to connect with its source, while our animal soul is driven by self-centered aspirations. The Tanya compares this struggle to two combatants wrestling to determine who will dictate the person's thoughts, speech, and actions.
How do we navigate this struggle in our everyday lives? The Tanya provides a beautiful insight. It says, "when the divine soul prevails, the animal soul is subjugated". The divine soul, with its inherent goodness and purity, can bring about a transformation in the animal soul, causing it to also pursue good.
Imagine if we applied this thought to our daily interactions. How different would our choices be if we let our divine soul lead? If we let our higher desires guide our actions, our lives would be filled with more meaning, more kindness, and more truth.
In closing, it is not about suppressing our animal soul, but about harnessing it, steering it towards goodness and holiness. The struggle is real, my friends, but so is the victory.
In the words of our Sages, "Who is strong? He who conquers his evil inclination." Let's cultivate that strength, let's let our divine soul shine.
