NextGen Kingdom Leaders

In this episode, we talk about the tension many young Christian professionals feel when making big life decisions without clear direction from God.

“Trust God’s timing” is good advice — but sometimes it can feel incomplete when you’re navigating real decisions about work, relationships, finances, church, and purpose. What if spiritual maturity isn’t about having perfect certainty, but about learning how to walk with wisdom, faith, and humility in the middle of uncertainty?

This episode explores how God often develops our character more than He provides detailed blueprints, and why faithful formation matters more than flawless decision-making.

What You’ll Learn
  •  Why uncertainty is often part of spiritual growth
  •  How to make wise decisions without guaranteed outcomes
  •  The difference between passive waiting and active faith
  •  Why God may care more about your formation than your flawless choices
  •  Practical questions to ask when navigating major life decisions

Reflection Questions
  1.  What major decision are you currently wrestling with?
  2.  Are you waiting for certainty when God may be inviting you into maturity?
  3.  What framework helps you discern wise choices?
  4.  Where are you trying to control outcomes instead of trusting God?
  5.  What would faithfulness look like in your next step?

What is NextGen Kingdom Leaders?

Helping young Christian professionals grow in their work, leadership, and faith

Hey everyone, welcome to the Next Gen
Kingdom Leaders podcast, where we exist

to help young Christian professionals
grow in their work, leadership, and faith.

These short two to three-minute
semi-weekly podcasts are meant to equip,

encourage, challenge, inspire you in
a very short and digestible format.

Today, we're talking about trusting
God's timing and how that phrase can

actually be woefully insufficient.

Enjoy

You've probably heard the
phrase, "Trust God's timing."

And honestly, it's, it's a true
statement, but it can also feel

incredibly frustrating because most
of us aren't sitting around waiting

for a lightning bolt from heaven.

We're making real decisions right
now about careers, relationships,

cities, churches, money, purpose.

Sometimes the hardest part
isn't that God is absent, it's

that He allows us to choose.

No burning bush, no step-by-step
blueprint, just wisdom,

uncertainty, responsibility.

And that tension can make the phrase,
"Trust God's timing," feel less

comforting and more incomplete.

Because while timing matters,
frameworks matter too.

A lot of young Christians
secretly want certainty when

what God often gives is maturity.

Think about it.

Scripture is full of people who had
to act without knowing outcomes.

Abraham left home without a map.

Esther risked speaking
before she knew the result.

The disciples followed Jesus before they
understood where the story was going.

Faith was never the absence of ambiguity.

It was movement despite ambiguity.

So maybe the better question isn't,
"How do I know exactly what God wants?"

Maybe it's, "How do I become
the kind of person who can

make wise decisions with God?"

That changes everything because
now the goal isn't perfect

prediction, it's faithful formation.

Instead of obsessing over finding the
one perfect choice, we build frameworks.

Does this opportunity
align with my values?

Does it produce wisdom, peace, integrity?

Am I choosing from faith or from fear?

Have I invited wise counsel into this?

Am I trying to control outcomes
that only God can control?

Those questions won't eliminate
uncertainty, but they will help you

move forward with clarity and humility.

And maybe that's what trusting
God's timing actually looks like.

Not passively waiting for answers,
not demanding guarantees, but

faithfully taking the next step while
accepting that outcomes belong to God.

Because adulthood and spiritual maturity
is realizing that sometimes God guides

less like a GPS and more like a compass.

Clear direction, limited
visibility, daily dependence.

And maybe that's enough.
