Soul Why? The Secrets Of The Soul Rich Woman Blueprint

118: Some People Will Think You Suck No Matter What You Do

People would think that no matter what you do, you suck.
There will always be some jerk who thinks you’re just pretty with no talent.
And there’s nothing you can do to avoid it.
Nobody has the right to an opinion unless they’ve done the exact same thing you want. Helpful advice is always welcome, but I’m talking about uninformed people making blanket statements, making you feel unsure, and anxious about your decisions.

118: Some People Will Think You Suck No Matter What You Do

People would think that no matter what you do, you suck.

There will always be some jerk who thinks you’re just pretty with no talent.

And there’s nothing you can do to avoid it.

Uninformed people making blanket statements

Nobody has the right to an opinion unless they’ve done the exact same thing you want. Helpful advice is always welcome, but I’m talking about uninformed people making blanket statements, making you feel unsure, and anxious about your decisions.

02:30- 02:47 Helpful advice is always welcome, but I’m talking about uninformed people making blanket statements designed to give you a co-blanket, make you feel unsure, and anxious about your decisions.

02:48- 02:59 For example, You can’t make it in showbiz because you’re too short, You need a degree for that, You’re not qualified to do that, There’s no money in that, I tried that once, didn’t work.

03:00- 03:27 They always sound like they know they are talking about because they are so damn sure of themselves. And just because someone put it on the internet, doesn’t mean it’s true. It can be shocking how unsupportive and actually downright bitchy other people can be when your life starts to take off. You’ll start to get all sorts of well-meaning advice which means criticism in disguise.

03:28- 04:15 Leading an exceptional or unconventional life can be really threatening for some people. But remember, that’s it’s their stuff, it's not yours. As silly as it sounds, most of us are more worried about what random strangers say than our loved ones. After all, our partner or our mum is unlikely to outright say “you suck and you have no talent”, but people on the internet will and do that to us. People still love to give their criticism in the form of “wisdom” or “advice” and you cannot please everyone so don’t even try. However, negative press or a bad review should be celebrated, it means you’re moving into a new level of success.

04:16- 04:37 The first piece of negative feedback can often be devastating and can make you cry, but it’s the fear of the potential criticism that can cut the most. As Mark Twain said, “I’ve known many troubles in my life – most of which never happened.”

You will never please people

08:17- 08:43 Some people will think you suck no matter what you do. It’s the truth. You will never please those people who live off complaints and revel in other people’s failure. You can and make yourself small to make other people feel better about themselves but the truth is that you are already a success story and someone will always be threatened by that.

Key Takeaways:
  1. There’s no money in that.
  2. You need a degree for that.
  3. You’re not qualified to do that.
  4.  I tried that once, but it didn't work.
  5. You can’t make it in showbiz because you’re too short.

[00:01:34]
Genecia Alluora: Hello, gorgeous. Welcome to today's show. I'm your host, Genecia Alluora. In this episode, I'm going to share with you why some people will think you suck no matter what you do. Now, there's nothing you can do to avoid it. Some women who let themselves shine and achieve a certain level of success will attract a small amount of negativity. There will always be some asshole who thinks you are a bitch with no talent. Just like you think I'm a Miss Singapore, beauty with no brains. It's quite normal. Nobody really has the right to an opinion unless they have done the exact same thing you want to do. Even then, if they did it 20, 10, or even 5 years ago, times have already changed. Helpful advice is always welcome, but I'm talking about uninformed people. Making blanket statements designed to give you cold blanket, make you feel unsure and anxious about your decisions.

[00:02:47]
Genecia Alluora: For example, you can't make it in showbiz because you're too short. You need a degree for that. You're not qualified to do that. There's no money in that. I tried it once, but it didn't work. They always sound like they know what they're talking about because they are so damn sure about themselves. And just because someone put it on the internet doesn't mean it's true. It can be shocking how unsupportive and actually downright bitchy other people can be when your life starts to take off. You'll start to get all sorts of well meaning advice, which means criticism in disguise. Leading an exceptional or unconventional life can be really threatening for some people. But remember, that's their stuff. It's not yours. As silly as it sounds, most of us are more worried about what random strangers say than our loved ones.

[00:03:45]
Genecia Alluora: After all, our partner or our mom are unlikely to outright say, You suck and you have no talent. But people on the internet will do that to us. People still love to give their criticism in a form of wisdom or advice, and you cannot please everyone, so don't even try. However, negative press or a bad review should be celebrated. It means you are moving into a new level of success. The first piece of negative feedback can often be devastating and make you cry. But it's the fear of the potential criticism that can cut the most. As Mark Twain said, I've known many troubles in my life, most of which never happened. So I just want to tell you this story. I went searching for Amazon reviews on commercially successful books. Take this novel, The Devil Wears Prata. I love this book and I found it a great read and I even watched the movie. Now, it's not a literary masterpiece, but wouldn't you be proud of this novel's success? This Devil Wears Prata has sold millions of copies. It spent more than a year on the New York Times best seller list and has been made into a fabulous, fun, loving of my favorite actresses, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, which won a Golden Globe Award and grossed over 300 million worldwide.

[00:05:31]
Genecia Alluora: I bet their parents and friends are so proud too. However, there was an official Amazon reviewer that calls this writer who launched this novel Devil Wears Prada an ungrammatical writer. That means you are not suitable to be a writer. And out of over a 1,000 reviews, she has several more one star reviews than the five star ones. Do you think the author reads them and regrets she ever put herself out there for public scrutiny? I doubt it because she's written at least six other books and she just kept on creating. And this author's name is Lauren Wiz Burger. Don't you think she was thrilled about having her novel being made into a movie? Perhaps she was less so when on the DVD commentary, the screenwriter basically said that the source material was shit and she had to make a lot of changes to make it barely watchable. I'm paraphrasing dramatically, but Ouch. Can you accept a certain level of success that inevitably attracts bad reviews? What would you prefer? Come, let's discuss. Ten people buy your great work and all love it. Every single person, which includes a big percentage of your friends and family, has only great things to say about you.

[00:07:03]
Genecia Alluora: Yay, for you. A thousand people buy your book, come and watch your play, buy your artwork, or come to your workshop. The majority of these people are strangers to you. 30 people said the best thing ever seen in their whole life. 940 people seem to have enjoyed it. But 30 people said that it's the worst thing they have ever seen or bought. They viciously write it about what you've done on their blogs. They publicly vow it was a waste of money and swear that you are a terrible con artist with no talent. Your ego probably prefers the first option because you can feel good about yourself, even if you have the sneaking suspicion that you are meant for something greater. But you can't live off applause. That means people clap for you all the time. It's a feel good factor. It's not enough to hear well done. And our thrill over getting a gold star doesn't last forever. Becoming exceptional means making yourself vulnerable. Some people will think you suck no matter what you do. It's the truth. You will never please those people who live off complaints and revel in other people's failure.

[00:08:29]
Genecia Alluora: You can and make yourself small to make other people feel better about themselves. But the truth is that you are already a success story and someone else will always be threatened by that. So you know what, my dear, celebrate it. We all have a part to play in this. This is your time and you are ready for the next step. Now, remember to rate, review and subscribe if you love today's episode, leaving a review helps us to be found easily either on iTunes or Spotify or on the apps that you are listening to at this moment in time. And someone else might just need to hear this message. So we really need your support on this. And as always, I love you and I appreciate you. And that is the reason why I'm showing up every single day for you and supporting you, being a cheerleader with you on this journey. Take care and see you in the next episode. Bye for now.
