What is SUPER GHOST?

A low-pressure haunt for people who love video games and don't take them seriously. Join Aaron, Gerry, Beth, and Greg each Monday for a zany and light-hearted discussion about video games and other cool stuff.

[00:00:00] I had something I wanted to fucking say but I forgot.

[00:00:03] Um, what was webcam shit made me forget?

[00:00:07] That's okay.

[00:00:08] You also have that, you got that doughy sick brain like I do.

[00:00:12] That's true.

[00:00:13] I'm not as nasally as I was yesterday so that's good.

[00:00:16] I feel like on that stream for the direct I was like, um, I really like roguelikes.

[00:00:21] I'm excited for roguelikes.

[00:00:23] That's me.

[00:00:24] I'm the boss.

[00:00:25] Or whatever the fuck.

[00:00:26] That's okay.

[00:00:27] I absolutely am a podcast.

[00:00:28] I've absolutely podcast when I was like feverish and having chills and shit from COVID.

[00:00:34] Oh, that'd be so cool.

[00:00:35] And with bronchitis so yeah.

[00:00:39] I'm not, I'm not there.

[00:00:41] I'm not there yet.

[00:00:41] I'm just like, I was there though like the day of my birthday.

[00:00:46] It was like my body was like, Hey man, I just wanted to let you know your piece

[00:00:50] of shit and now you're almost 40.

[00:00:52] So happy fucking birthday.

[00:00:54] That's okay.

[00:00:55] This dilapidated body of mine.

[00:00:58] I would do a podcast episode.

[00:01:00] Like it's all one sentence.

[00:01:02] It's like maybe 30 minutes long, but it's in all like one big S run on sentence.

[00:01:06] That'd be really cool.

[00:01:07] You gotta keep the fucking gravy train rolling.

[00:01:10] Being feverish is pretty fun.

[00:01:15] What a do listeners.

[00:01:17] My name is Aaron.

[00:01:18] I've seen the face of God and they gave me cataracts.

[00:01:21] And I'm Jerry.

[00:01:22] I'm sick and you might even say I'm Demure.

[00:01:25] And you're listening to super pot saga.

[00:01:37] You heard it right listeners.

[00:01:39] It's super pot saga.

[00:01:40] I might have to end the show early because yeah, the word Demure is very overused.

[00:01:44] I'm getting real tired of it.

[00:01:45] Jollis will cancel this word please.

[00:01:47] I'm not just tired of it.

[00:01:49] I'm like ready to rage about it.

[00:01:53] I worry like it's pretty easy to cancel things these days.

[00:01:56] Can we just like accuse Demure of doing something to each and every one of us

[00:02:00] and just be like, we're done.

[00:02:02] Let's get rid of that original person.

[00:02:04] I have no problem with them, but like the use of the word overuse of the word.

[00:02:09] The word itself.

[00:02:11] I'm just over it very over it.

[00:02:13] My favorite thing is when people miss you use the word ironic or like irony in

[00:02:18] place of like a coincidence or something that drives me insane.

[00:02:21] People just using words wrong drives me insane too.

[00:02:25] But then it's very hypocritical because I have Jerry brain and a lot of

[00:02:30] times I'll just say the wrong thing anyways.

[00:02:32] And someone will be like, you know, it's totally not the right way to say that

[00:02:35] word. And I'm like, I like it.

[00:02:40] Yes, listeners, it is super pod so good is indeed your favorite podcast in the

[00:02:45] whole entire world. Hello.

[00:02:47] It's me, your lovely, awesome, perfect podcaster, best friend, Aaron.

[00:02:53] Of course, joined by Jerry.

[00:02:54] Yeah.

[00:02:56] The angel. Hi, Jerry. What's up?

[00:02:59] Hey, man.

[00:03:01] I'm we're we're gonna take a day off and.

[00:03:05] Do I need to take it?

[00:03:07] They are you need to take several.

[00:03:08] I need to take a couple days off.

[00:03:11] I need to like lay down and I need to die and then being

[00:03:15] recartinated or something.

[00:03:16] I'm already losing my voice and we're not.

[00:03:18] Look, we just got through a fucking B roll.

[00:03:20] But here we are.

[00:03:22] Here we have showed up.

[00:03:24] That just means you're going to sound like a really great blue

[00:03:27] singer by the end of the show.

[00:03:29] Oh my God, I never thought of that.

[00:03:31] You're going to sound like Eddie Vedder, dude.

[00:03:34] Or wait, no, maybe not.

[00:03:37] Maybe it'll be more like any better.

[00:03:39] More like, oh, I can't think of her name.

[00:03:42] It was a really old actress.

[00:03:44] Her voice always sounded like this.

[00:03:47] I can't think of her name.

[00:03:48] Are you talking about she did the red carpet and shit all the time?

[00:03:52] Right? I think I don't know.

[00:03:55] Moving on.

[00:03:56] Yeah, let's move on.

[00:03:59] Let's move on.

[00:03:59] Yeah, we'll have Gertrude and HR hit you up.

[00:04:02] Get you some PTO days off for that sickness, man.

[00:04:05] No worries.

[00:04:06] Yeah. So this is the podcast for each week.

[00:04:09] Jerry and I, we dive into different video game topics,

[00:04:11] different guests, hang out, have fun, talk, video games,

[00:04:13] video game accessories.

[00:04:15] Today we're joined by a brand spanking new guest.

[00:04:18] Hello, Jala.

[00:04:19] I'm spanking?

[00:04:20] Damn. OK.

[00:04:22] What's up? I'm spanking y'all.

[00:04:24] Yes, it's like a number with like the

[00:04:27] I'm trying to draw memory from stuff.

[00:04:30] Kind of. Yeah.

[00:04:31] You know, I remember how whenever a new guest

[00:04:35] she's over here slapping and spanking and.

[00:04:39] Question that.

[00:04:40] But that's OK.

[00:04:42] Remember when they had new episodes of Doug

[00:04:44] that always say brand spanking new Doug?

[00:04:47] That's I don't remember.

[00:04:49] It sounds accurate for Doug.

[00:04:51] Yeah, I hate that theme song so God damn much.

[00:04:55] I still hate it, dude.

[00:04:57] I still hate the whole show.

[00:04:58] Patty Mayonnaise get the fuck out of here.

[00:05:01] Yeah, so dumb.

[00:05:02] I'm just the fucking.

[00:05:04] Who was the writers?

[00:05:05] I mean, like, guys, I got it.

[00:05:07] I got it.

[00:05:09] Fucking Patty Mayonnaise.

[00:05:11] Who? What?

[00:05:15] And like, we're all content creators like suffer so much

[00:05:19] just trying to be like, like, man,

[00:05:22] what kind of topic can we come up with today?

[00:05:24] But then some fucking asshole at Nickelodeon

[00:05:27] back in the fucking disay is just like, guys, Patty Mayonnaise.

[00:05:32] I think they were talking about their lunch.

[00:05:34] Like they had a Patty Melt and they put mayonnaise on it.

[00:05:37] And then they were like, that's it.

[00:05:39] That's the name. That's the character.

[00:05:40] I wonder if they have an assistant that's one of the characters.

[00:05:44] And then like.

[00:05:46] Yeah, like they had an assistant named Patty and they were like

[00:05:50] and she always fucked up everybody's like lunch order or something.

[00:05:53] And then she's like, hey, Doug, what did you want on you?

[00:05:56] Patty Mayonnaise Mayonnaise just made on the hamburger.

[00:06:01] You're fired.

[00:06:02] Well, we're naming a character after you fired Mayonnaise.

[00:06:06] Patty unemployment mayonnaise.

[00:06:10] Yes. Hi, Jala. Hello.

[00:06:12] Welcome to the show. It's great to have you here for anyone who hasn't

[00:06:16] heard you before. Go ahead and introduce yourself and your show

[00:06:19] and your socials and plug everything you need to and tell us all about your favorites.

[00:06:26] What happened? We've done ice cream.

[00:06:28] We've done chicken sandwiches and pizza.

[00:06:30] Tell us about your favorite vegan dish.

[00:06:32] Lizard. Oh, favorite lizard. Lizard.

[00:06:35] OK, I've actually got a very good answer for that.

[00:06:37] OK, so I'm Jala.

[00:06:39] You can find me everywhere I can be found at Jala Chun.

[00:06:42] I run a podcast that's called Jala Chun's Place.

[00:06:45] It's a show that's just a bunch of random things, random topics.

[00:06:50] Usually I go between a media like a book or a movie or a TV show

[00:06:55] or whatever comic video game, that kind of thing.

[00:07:00] And we talk about that in depth.

[00:07:02] The last one I did was on Lunar.

[00:07:05] And then as of the time we're recording, but probably like before this

[00:07:09] episode comes out, I will have an episode about Johnny Mimmonic,

[00:07:13] the movie and the short story.

[00:07:16] So that'll be coming out.

[00:07:18] And so we go between that and then we also do like real life topics,

[00:07:22] real super important topics to people like burnout or gender dysphoria

[00:07:29] or diversity or whatever, like a bunch of different topics, toxic masculinity,

[00:07:35] neurodiversity. That was the last one was neurodiversity, things like that.

[00:07:38] And I have a bunch of different people who come on the show

[00:07:41] and talk about it from a bunch of different walks of life.

[00:07:44] So you get a lot of perspectives about a bunch of different topics.

[00:07:50] And so what's fun is that you will hear people from our podcasting circles

[00:07:55] show up in some of those topical episodes, not just the ones that are

[00:07:58] related to video games and movies and stuff.

[00:08:01] So for example, Matt Stormageddon was on talking about empathy

[00:08:08] and also about portal at another time when I covered the portal IP.

[00:08:14] And then you also have both of those conversations at the same time.

[00:08:18] Yeah, right. So and then also we had Dave Jackson on for both

[00:08:25] body weight fluctuation and body image stuff as well as Metroid fusion.

[00:08:30] So I mean, like different episodes, different people pop up and talk about stuff

[00:08:34] just from folks that I talk about, you know, talk to in

[00:08:38] the random selection of folks that we have in our circles.

[00:08:42] But then I also have been on another show called The Level,

[00:08:45] which is a video game roundtable show by Duck Feed TV.

[00:08:49] You can find that at the level podcast dot com.

[00:08:52] And that is a weekly video game roundtable where we talk about what we've

[00:08:57] been playing and have a listener question and then also talk about video game news.

[00:09:01] And so I am a rotating member of that cast because there's five total people

[00:09:07] and you can't have five people on a show. Fuck that.

[00:09:09] So we rotate out and around.

[00:09:12] So actually like right before this episode comes out,

[00:09:15] I will have been on the most recent episode.

[00:09:18] So hell yeah.

[00:09:19] Yeah. Yeah. You also asked me for my favorite.

[00:09:23] What? Oh, Lizard. Right.

[00:09:24] Lizard. Yeah.

[00:09:25] So I had a lizard.

[00:09:26] I randomly decided that I wanted to go to Repticon,

[00:09:29] which is a reptile convention.

[00:09:31] I don't know why.

[00:09:32] And I went sounds like a sick transformer.

[00:09:35] I know, right?

[00:09:37] But it sounds a lot more baller than it is.

[00:09:40] It's really just a bunch of people like people who love lizards and snakes

[00:09:44] who all just kind of gather.

[00:09:45] And then there are some vendors that have a bunch of lizards and snakes for sale.

[00:09:49] That's what it is.

[00:09:50] I was expecting a lot more.

[00:09:52] I don't know what I was expecting.

[00:09:53] Maybe people like cosplaying as their favorite animal or something.

[00:09:57] But I don't know. I didn't get.

[00:09:58] I didn't get all of that.

[00:09:59] But I did fall in love with a panther gecko

[00:10:02] and I bought him and brought him home and I had him for over a decade.

[00:10:07] And Indra, he was very cool.

[00:10:09] So that is my favorite lizard.

[00:10:12] Man, that's so on the topic of geckos, by the way,

[00:10:15] I used to have an albino leopard gecko named Chad

[00:10:18] and he was the cutest little fucker ever as little like pink tail

[00:10:21] and as little like yellow spots and stuff.

[00:10:25] Unfortunately, he passed away because he had a bunch of like

[00:10:28] skin on his head that he couldn't get off properly.

[00:10:31] And you're not supposed to like touch him or I was like

[00:10:34] would spray water in there periodically and he couldn't get it off.

[00:10:37] So he suffocated.

[00:10:38] RIP, Chad, I miss you, buddy.

[00:10:40] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:10:43] I think mine basically died of old age.

[00:10:45] He was like already past the like lifespan that they have

[00:10:49] when he did pass away.

[00:10:51] So I think he just got so old that he just, you know,

[00:10:54] he's like, I don't know how to be a reptile anymore.

[00:10:58] Yeah. Yeah. How do I work this thing?

[00:11:02] He's he's like that skid on I think you should leave

[00:11:05] where he's got like that crazy suit on.

[00:11:07] He's like, I want to be around anymore.

[00:11:10] It's too fucking hot in this thing.

[00:11:15] Oh, man, I got too much shit on.

[00:11:18] Too much shit on.

[00:11:35] What the fuck are we talking about today, Aaron?

[00:11:37] Say we're doing another cool open like free form discussion one

[00:11:42] at first it was a totally different topic, but then Jala was like, wait,

[00:11:45] here's something even better.

[00:11:47] So Jala, you explain.

[00:11:49] You're the one that wanted to discuss this and you changed it.

[00:11:52] They're like it's your fault.

[00:11:54] You fucking explained it.

[00:11:56] Right. Right.

[00:11:57] So yeah, I decided that I wanted to talk about

[00:12:02] the approach that you have to video games

[00:12:04] and how that changes your experience of games.

[00:12:06] And there's a lot of reasons that I was thinking about this topic

[00:12:10] and we will get into it as we continue on with the show.

[00:12:13] But two different people who are going and playing the same game

[00:12:17] are going to have vastly different experiences,

[00:12:19] not just because they make different choices,

[00:12:21] but also like how they tackle the game

[00:12:23] and what their own personal objectives are

[00:12:26] when they go into any particular level or scenario

[00:12:29] are going to be different.

[00:12:31] So absolutely before I mean, I play Mario with my hands,

[00:12:35] but if Aaron wants to play with his feet, then

[00:12:39] isn't that not higher supposed to?

[00:12:42] Then it's no 64 controller was made for feet.

[00:12:45] Well, I mean, there's people who play with bananas as controllers.

[00:12:49] So I mean, that's true.

[00:12:50] Yes, very impressive.

[00:12:52] Very, very impressive.

[00:12:54] Jerry, what kind of controller do you think first seen like a video

[00:12:56] of someone like playing Dark Souls with a fucking like a guitar hero

[00:13:01] guitar when I was like, oh, this is wild.

[00:13:04] This is incomprehensible.

[00:13:06] Like I can't understand.

[00:13:06] And then it's like a month later, someone's like,

[00:13:09] if you see this guy playing Dark Souls with bananas and I'm like,

[00:13:12] what is that sentence?

[00:13:14] What do you mean? Right.

[00:13:16] None of anything that you just said is doesn't have any logic to it.

[00:13:19] And then they showed me the video and I was like,

[00:13:22] this motherfucker is playing with bananas.

[00:13:24] Yeah.

[00:13:25] Playing God damn Dark Souls bananas.

[00:13:27] Well, I mean, so winning.

[00:13:30] So I suppose I should just kind of give on that note

[00:13:33] a little bit of a, you know, example of what I mean by like

[00:13:39] the approach to video games and how that differs.

[00:13:41] So one really fun example is when I was playing Chronicles of Riddick

[00:13:48] Escape from Butcher Bay and like in the beginning of that game,

[00:13:53] you are going, you know, you're on like the prison ship

[00:13:56] and then you were coming to Butcher Bay and then you get off the ship

[00:13:59] and then Johns is there and you're supposed to go in.

[00:14:02] That's all you're supposed to be doing.

[00:14:03] In this part.

[00:14:04] But because I'm me, the first thing I did would go completely a wall.

[00:14:08] And I was like, can I kill Johns?

[00:14:11] And it wouldn't let me kill Johns.

[00:14:12] So I had to redo.

[00:14:13] And then it's like, can I kill this guy that I'm supposed to talk to?

[00:14:16] And I could and I killed him, but then I couldn't advance

[00:14:18] because I couldn't talk to the guy.

[00:14:20] And then I was like, can I dodge the bullets when they start

[00:14:24] attacking me for killing the guy?

[00:14:26] And so I did and I got underneath the bridge,

[00:14:28] but then I couldn't come out because I didn't have a weapon

[00:14:31] to attack anybody with.

[00:14:32] And I kept on doing this over and over again.

[00:14:34] And my husband eventually was just like, will you just go through

[00:14:38] the fucking gate?

[00:14:40] And I'm just like, I am having so much fun trying to break this game

[00:14:44] right now, like you don't understand.

[00:14:46] This is me.

[00:14:47] Like I I'm like, no, I wouldn't go through there.

[00:14:50] I wouldn't go complacently into this prison of hell.

[00:14:53] Like no way.

[00:14:53] I've got a I've got a fight.

[00:14:55] So if you play like Killzone and it's a very linear game

[00:14:59] and they're like, follow that path right there.

[00:15:01] See it in front of you?

[00:15:02] Follow that path and shoot that thing with that gun right there.

[00:15:06] You're like, fuck that.

[00:15:08] Let's go see if I can get in that water.

[00:15:09] Yes, exactly.

[00:15:11] And like, like say, for example, another one would be the game

[00:15:17] IC so in the game I see it's I see I see E Y.

[00:15:22] You should check it out.

[00:15:23] It's very cool.

[00:15:24] Anyway, like it's a it's a kind of beat them up type of thing,

[00:15:28] but it's got like multiple paths that you can go through

[00:15:30] and everything.

[00:15:31] And it's got like a narrator that will tell you like what you're doing

[00:15:36] and say, oh, and then I see went this way, but you can go multiple ways.

[00:15:41] And then every single time, of course, I'm like, fuck that.

[00:15:43] I'm going over there.

[00:15:44] This other place that you didn't tell me to go.

[00:15:46] And then the narrator gets mad at you kind of like it's Stanley

[00:15:50] Parable and is like, but then I see didn't pay attention.

[00:15:53] It went the other way and all this other stuff.

[00:15:55] And it's really fun.

[00:15:56] But anyway, also the game is very good.

[00:15:58] You should try it.

[00:15:59] So that's very fun.

[00:16:00] Yes. So me going in while is pretty regular.

[00:16:04] I have a lot more examples, but like me to much y'all.

[00:16:07] Let me let me just toss it to somebody else.

[00:16:10] Well, before we get to that, we can get any further topic.

[00:16:32] Remember 64, all the fellow, all the sorry, not all the fellas.

[00:17:00] I don't know if you really, really love Superponsaga.

[00:17:02] Go subscribe on Patreon to four dollars a month.

[00:17:04] OK, let's go with the topic.

[00:17:06] All right, I can't hold this in anymore.

[00:17:08] I also go a wall a lot like with Elder Scrolls Marowind.

[00:17:14] You can actually like doom the timeline and the message will pop up.

[00:17:17] It'll be like, you have doomed the timeline.

[00:17:19] You need to reload your save.

[00:17:21] Otherwise, like you can't do anything.

[00:17:23] And I've done that entirely too often.

[00:17:26] I would just massacre like an entire town just because I could.

[00:17:30] And then it'd be like, yeah, you know, to save.

[00:17:33] Yeah, dude. Oh, it was the greatest.

[00:17:35] See what happened.

[00:17:37] Oh, yeah, I killed multiple towns in Marowind and then to like in Marrow.

[00:17:41] I will. OK, first, I will never, ever, ever, ever.

[00:17:43] If you give me an open world game, I'll never fucking finish it ever.

[00:17:46] Yeah, ever. Not at all.

[00:17:48] I've never been Skyrim.

[00:17:50] I have never been insane or me neither.

[00:17:52] Whoops. Any any Elder Scrolls game, any open world game.

[00:17:56] Never, never have.

[00:17:58] I've only been oblivion for the achievement.

[00:18:02] Well, like so Marowind,

[00:18:05] I decided to kill everybody in town

[00:18:09] multiple times different towns, several different towns.

[00:18:11] I killed it, everybody or everybody except for the most important people,

[00:18:14] something like that.

[00:18:15] So it wouldn't break it, but it would give me like all of their houses and stuff.

[00:18:19] So and then I decided that I was going to get a particular pattern of plate

[00:18:25] and a particular Dweemer artifact, and I was going to collect them

[00:18:29] in my Balmora house that I took from somebody.

[00:18:32] And so I like, and you know, like in Marowind,

[00:18:34] there's like 70 billion different plate patterns

[00:18:37] and they're slightly different.

[00:18:39] So like I would I wouldn't be like,

[00:18:41] I couldn't remember which the pattern was until I got back home again.

[00:18:44] So I would have like 7000 plates in my inventory

[00:18:46] and then like Dweemer artifacts, which are so heavy

[00:18:49] that I had to keep on using the alchemy skill to make all of these potions.

[00:18:53] So I was constantly drunk because you have to make like the

[00:18:57] like alcohols and stuff to gain strength to be able to carry this stuff.

[00:19:01] So yeah, like that was my Marowind experience.

[00:19:05] That's awesome.

[00:19:07] So the way that I approach like a Souls like game,

[00:19:11] I kind of approach it kind of like I'm trying to lure

[00:19:15] a woodland creature out of a forest with a handful of tree nuts.

[00:19:19] Like it's like a skittish woodland creature and I'm like, it's OK.

[00:19:23] It's OK. Come here.

[00:19:24] And then I realized that that woodland creature is not a skittish animal.

[00:19:28] It's actually a honey badger and it just rips my fucking face off.

[00:19:32] And I usually get to the point of like deep,

[00:19:39] deep sorrow playing these games where I'm like,

[00:19:44] should I keep playing this and punishing myself?

[00:19:47] Or like, do I just go play in RPG?

[00:19:51] And the answer is I must be a masochist

[00:19:54] because I just cannot stop punishing myself.

[00:19:57] And I fucking love it.

[00:20:00] And I am not alone, apparently, because there's a lot of people out there

[00:20:04] that enjoy the punishment of the Souls games.

[00:20:07] And it's not even about like bragging rights either.

[00:20:09] But like when I play a Souls game for me, these are the very few games

[00:20:16] because Jala like you.

[00:20:18] I actually I don't normally like open world games.

[00:20:22] Matter of fact, I typically hate an open world game

[00:20:26] just because I feel like half the time I get bored.

[00:20:28] I'll play the game for like however long and I try to play it my way.

[00:20:33] And that's the games like we will let you pretend to play it your way.

[00:20:38] This might be a hot take, but I fucking hate Assassin's Creed games.

[00:20:41] Absolutely hate them.

[00:20:42] I think they're the dumbest fucking games ever because they give you this guys,

[00:20:46] especially the new ones where they're like, hey, check out this really fucking cool

[00:20:49] Witcher combat and you're like, yeah, this is fucking cool.

[00:20:51] And then they're like, yeah, but don't do that.

[00:20:53] Don't don't fucking do that.

[00:20:54] Oh, yeah.

[00:20:55] Just sneak around or else you're fucked.

[00:20:57] And it's like, but I like the way.

[00:20:59] No, shut the fuck up.

[00:21:00] Just do the do the stealth.

[00:21:02] Just do that.

[00:21:02] So like I don't like that shit.

[00:21:04] So like when it comes to the Dark Souls games and like Bloodborne and

[00:21:09] Elden Ring and all these other things, these are the very few games that I

[00:21:13] actually feel like I can play the way that I want to play.

[00:21:17] I mean, you could stealth, I guess, if you really wanted to,

[00:21:21] but that's not really the thing.

[00:21:23] But I guess the point I'm getting at is that

[00:21:26] I explore every fucking nook and cranny of these games.

[00:21:29] Normally I don't.

[00:21:31] I don't give a fuck about a side quest even.

[00:21:33] I don't care about side quests.

[00:21:35] I'd leave them out.

[00:21:35] I'm like main line and the cool thing with like, especially like Elden Ring,

[00:21:40] there is not really.

[00:21:43] And a main line in front of your face.

[00:21:45] It's not like, hey, you got to go do this.

[00:21:47] It's just kind of like check this shit out.

[00:21:49] You want to go over there? Go over there.

[00:21:51] We're over there.

[00:21:52] Check that out.

[00:21:53] Hey, I look over here.

[00:21:54] Yeah, go look at that guy and come back when you get your ass

[00:21:57] handed to you and then have a look over in that thing.

[00:22:00] Open up that chest and get warped into fucking hell.

[00:22:04] Right.

[00:22:05] I've got the same approach to like, I well, no, maybe I guess it depends

[00:22:10] on the game because like in an open world game, like say,

[00:22:13] the Xenoblade Chronicles one or two, I've never beaten three

[00:22:17] because I got really bored with that one.

[00:22:19] We both agree on something with that one.

[00:22:21] Hey, yeah, it's not a good game.

[00:22:24] We're going to a good game.

[00:22:25] We'll get to that another time.

[00:22:28] Yeah, Xenoblade, they're totally open world.

[00:22:31] I want to explore it, but then at the same time, I always like,

[00:22:34] dude, like this story is actually kind of got me intrigued.

[00:22:37] I kind of want to just keep going with that or like if I do any

[00:22:41] side shit and wander off the beaten path, it's to do like

[00:22:44] Xenoblade one has this thing called the collectopedia

[00:22:48] and you're just constantly collecting shit to fill up different columns

[00:22:52] and get cool rewards, whether it's like cool gear or like

[00:22:56] a jam or a skill jam.

[00:22:59] I forgot what the fuck they're called.

[00:23:01] Xenoblade two has this skill tree.

[00:23:05] You fill up for each different blade

[00:23:06] or if you kill so many enemies, you know, new skill in this direction

[00:23:09] and shit like that.

[00:23:10] But sometimes I'll wander off and complete things like that.

[00:23:13] But for those games, I tend to just stay right through the storyline

[00:23:17] and go through the game, but not Grand Theft Auto.

[00:23:21] Boy, I've never beaten a Grand Theft Auto game ever.

[00:23:23] I always get always I'll try to do a story mission

[00:23:27] and I'll be running down to like fucking CJ's house

[00:23:31] or whoever the fuck.

[00:23:32] And then I'll see like like an ice cream truck or a fucking cop car

[00:23:36] and I'll be like, well, fuck whatever I was doing

[00:23:40] and I'll all attempt to steal it and get shot and die.

[00:23:43] And then it'll just be this continuous loop of me spawning

[00:23:45] and then goofing around and dying.

[00:23:47] And yeah, it's just too good.

[00:23:50] Well, Grand Theft Auto five.

[00:23:52] That was it because that one actually had like a cohesive story

[00:23:55] that I actually wanted to see through to the end.

[00:23:58] Well, so there's a couple of things there.

[00:24:01] So first off about Dark Souls, all of my experience

[00:24:04] with Souls games was encapsulated in 20 hours

[00:24:07] that I put into the game.

[00:24:08] Dark Souls won over like one weekend.

[00:24:11] And then I got promptly deeply burned out

[00:24:13] because I take care of my elderly disabled parents

[00:24:16] and I have a lot of responsibilities

[00:24:18] and I'm very tired all the time.

[00:24:21] Dark Souls for some people is meditative.

[00:24:23] It's not for me.

[00:24:24] I need something that's not twitchy when I go down

[00:24:26] to kind of chill out before I go to sleep.

[00:24:29] So that's not what I play,

[00:24:31] but there was one shining weekend when I was able to do this.

[00:24:34] So I was playing a good chunk of just Dark Souls, the original.

[00:24:37] Anyway, when I was going through that, it was funny

[00:24:40] because when I was talking to people

[00:24:41] in that church that's like right in the beginning,

[00:24:44] I forget the name of the church.

[00:24:45] But anyway, there's like a church you go into it

[00:24:47] and then like there's a bunch of knights and stuff

[00:24:51] if you go head on, but you can go around the side

[00:24:54] and like for me, the way that I play that game

[00:24:57] is the way that I play pretty much every game.

[00:24:58] I play it the way that I would actually live my real life.

[00:25:01] And so like I'm not like about to go head first

[00:25:04] into that fucking church.

[00:25:05] There's no way I'm gonna go around the side

[00:25:07] and look around before I go up and approach the thing.

[00:25:11] So inside the church, there's all those knights

[00:25:13] in that front area.

[00:25:15] And then on the backside, if you go in the side door,

[00:25:18] you can see upstairs there's a mage

[00:25:20] with a bunch of like minion people up there.

[00:25:22] And what I was able to do is not trigger the knights,

[00:25:27] kill the mage guy up at the top

[00:25:29] before his little guys triggered and all swarmed me

[00:25:33] and then was able to pick off all the knights one by one.

[00:25:36] And so that part was super easy for me.

[00:25:38] But then everybody else that I knew had just been like,

[00:25:41] oh, I'm just gonna go right through the front of the thing.

[00:25:43] And then they got their ass handed to them

[00:25:45] by all of the knights that are in there.

[00:25:47] But you know, I also consider like

[00:25:51] this is teasing for most people,

[00:25:54] but like there's also the wounded demon

[00:25:56] or whatever that's inside of a room.

[00:25:58] And I ran across the room to the other side

[00:26:01] through the door and then I was like,

[00:26:03] I'm just gonna take pot shots at you from this doorway

[00:26:06] and then get out of the way when you shoot shit at me

[00:26:09] because you're big and stupid

[00:26:10] and you can't get through the door.

[00:26:12] That's your fault.

[00:26:13] So like, you know.

[00:26:15] Yeah, but I mean like if it's something

[00:26:18] that I have to fight head on, that's fine.

[00:26:19] But like I'm also gonna use the terrain

[00:26:22] or whatever to my advantage.

[00:26:23] If they can't get up to where I'm at,

[00:26:25] that's their fault not mine.

[00:26:26] The cool thing about the Souls games

[00:26:27] and something that I disagree with,

[00:26:29] I disagree with people calling out stuff like cheesing

[00:26:32] because if it's in the fucking game,

[00:26:35] if it's in the fucking game,

[00:26:36] if it can be done, if they patch it out,

[00:26:38] all right, whatever.

[00:26:39] But like fucking you're stupid

[00:26:42] because you left it in there for me to exploit.

[00:26:45] So yeah, I fully like dude,

[00:26:48] I'll be fucking real honest with you.

[00:26:52] I cheesed so many bosses in Sekiro

[00:26:55] because that game is fucking impossible.

[00:26:58] Like I lured so many things off cliffs

[00:27:01] and was just like...

[00:27:04] Well, if you're dumb enough to fall off the cliff,

[00:27:06] that's your fault not mine.

[00:27:08] Exactly dude.

[00:27:09] For real but so...

[00:27:12] What boss was it?

[00:27:14] In Sekiro?

[00:27:15] No, I'm trying to think there's one boss,

[00:27:17] it's like at the beginning of Dark Souls 1, I'm pretty sure.

[00:27:20] It's like the Capra Demon or the Libra Demon

[00:27:22] or some shit like that.

[00:27:23] That's like the very first one

[00:27:24] that you have to like die to, right?

[00:27:27] Yeah.

[00:27:27] The one that's in that really tiny arena, that's Capra.

[00:27:31] There was...

[00:27:32] And then you can go like on this bridge

[00:27:34] and you know, you climb up and you go on this bridge

[00:27:37] and there's this one...

[00:27:38] It's the first guy.

[00:27:39] Yeah, there's this one spot where you can like

[00:27:40] kind of almost cheese it where he'll jump off

[00:27:43] like he'll jump at you to try to attack you

[00:27:44] but then he'll jump off the fucking gap and fucking die.

[00:27:47] Did you do that?

[00:27:48] I do that every single time.

[00:27:50] I give a shit man.

[00:27:51] Oh, it's cheese and you didn't actually beat him.

[00:27:54] He killed himself.

[00:27:55] I feel like fuck you, it's in the game.

[00:27:56] Why would they put that there then?

[00:27:58] Well, and if you're playing D&D,

[00:28:00] no one says that's cheap, you didn't do it right.

[00:28:03] No, because you were smart.

[00:28:05] You used your head, good job in a D&D game.

[00:28:08] You used the mechanics,

[00:28:09] so you use like what they put in there like yeah.

[00:28:12] This is totally not really on the topic of this

[00:28:14] but on the topic of like Elden Ring especially.

[00:28:18] I've had people criticize me

[00:28:20] about using the fucking spirit ashes to summon.

[00:28:23] They're like, are you gonna fucking summon for this?

[00:28:25] I'm like, yeah, I can't fucking beat Melania by myself

[00:28:28] if you edit your goddamn mind.

[00:28:30] There's no fucking way.

[00:28:31] I summoned a spirit ash.

[00:28:33] I fucking summoned a person from the real world

[00:28:37] to be like, can you help me please?

[00:28:39] The real world?

[00:28:40] Right.

[00:28:41] You summon Joe Pesci to come help you out?

[00:28:43] Hey, I come here to help you beat this fucking boss.

[00:28:45] You wanna buy the pepperoni?

[00:28:46] I'm too wild.

[00:28:47] Wouldn't it be fucking wild if Joe Pesci

[00:28:49] was actually let me solo her?

[00:28:51] Imagine Joe Pesci just had him like,

[00:28:53] this is fucking stupid, fucking Melania.

[00:28:56] What the fuck is this shit?

[00:28:58] Yeah, that'd be really really cool.

[00:29:00] I want the let me solo her to be Tim Walls.

[00:29:04] That would be so funny.

[00:29:06] That would be very good.

[00:29:08] Anyway.

[00:29:09] Oh, is that that?

[00:29:09] That's the Vice President candidate for Harris.

[00:29:14] OK, that would be something.

[00:29:15] At first I was like, wait, who's this guy?

[00:29:17] Tim Walls is the Vice President candidate.

[00:29:19] He's the guy that was addicted to Dreamcast.

[00:29:20] Yeah, he was addicted to Crazy Toxy.

[00:29:23] So wouldn't it be great if he's secretly still deeply

[00:29:25] entrenched in video games and he's like somebody real?

[00:29:29] Not to get political or anything,

[00:29:31] but I sincerely hope that this guy becomes

[00:29:33] the Vice President so that we actually have somebody

[00:29:35] that we all know in the gaming community

[00:29:37] is a fucking gamer that is like part of US politics

[00:29:41] in a high up position.

[00:29:43] That's just like, yeah, so I made some decisions today

[00:29:45] about like the fucking war and shit.

[00:29:47] But then also I had a really good run

[00:29:50] and fucking crazy taxi.

[00:29:53] Right.

[00:29:54] Took so many motherfuckers to Pizza Hut, bro.

[00:29:56] It's insane.

[00:29:59] Well, circling back, though, to like the open world stuff.

[00:30:03] So here's my problem with open worlds.

[00:30:04] You give me all these things to look at

[00:30:06] and all these things to go do.

[00:30:07] And then you want me to do this really boring main quest

[00:30:11] that's never as interesting as like doing

[00:30:13] all the random shit that never ends.

[00:30:15] It's like, no, I'd rather be like off over there.

[00:30:19] Like in Morrowind, I played in Argonian

[00:30:21] because all of the other races look like total ass

[00:30:24] because like all of the character models look terrible.

[00:30:27] They look like they're fucking,

[00:30:29] they're made of butter and they were melted in a microwave.

[00:30:31] Well, so I would just like go underwater

[00:30:33] and then I found all these shipwrecks and shit.

[00:30:35] So I would go under there and there would be like ghosts

[00:30:37] and stuff and like I'm like underwater as those guys.

[00:30:41] Yeah, yeah, dude.

[00:30:42] That's like part of the charm.

[00:30:43] That's a part of their life.

[00:30:44] And they're like in me to the seas.

[00:30:45] They're on my whole time.

[00:30:46] Yeah, dude, Argonians the way to go.

[00:30:48] They'll let anybody tell you different.

[00:30:51] I just didn't pick one because I was like,

[00:30:52] that's a lizard person.

[00:30:54] That's a goddamn lizard person.

[00:30:55] That's Obama.

[00:30:56] That's that's a there's my real.

[00:30:58] There's my real true lizard,

[00:31:00] favorite lizard right there.

[00:31:02] Argonians.

[00:31:02] Oh, she's Obama.

[00:31:05] Obama is my favorite lizard person on this planet.

[00:31:11] Oh man.

[00:31:13] Along with Joe Pesci.

[00:31:17] Joe Pesci is very reptilian.

[00:31:19] He's got some pretty reptilian traits.

[00:31:22] You never see him in the cold.

[00:31:23] Well, no, no, home alone.

[00:31:25] That's stupid.

[00:31:26] Moving on.

[00:31:27] It was fake.

[00:31:28] It's just fake cold.

[00:31:32] So really good, really good example for open world games

[00:31:36] that I just love fucking around in would be like fallout.

[00:31:40] Like it'll take me so long to complete the story

[00:31:43] and fall out because I'll be off just.

[00:31:45] I know.

[00:31:45] All like I'll just point myself in a direction

[00:31:47] and like hold forward and see where the fuck I go.

[00:31:50] And you're bound to come across something cool,

[00:31:52] whether it's like the UFO that's in the mountains

[00:31:56] in like the third game or whatever,

[00:31:58] or like you come across a vault with some cool,

[00:32:00] weird hidden backstory.

[00:32:02] Isn't the UFO isn't that like the trigger for that DLC?

[00:32:05] Mothership Zeta or whatever it's called.

[00:32:07] Yeah, it was in there before that too.

[00:32:09] Like they made that.

[00:32:10] It was. Yeah.

[00:32:11] You get I think all you got was like a ray gun

[00:32:14] and some ammo for and there'd be like a dead alien body there.

[00:32:17] But after they came out with the DLC,

[00:32:19] they made that the trigger.

[00:32:20] You said a ray gun

[00:32:21] and I just was thinking of the Olympics and oh my god.

[00:32:27] I'm sorry.

[00:32:28] What?

[00:32:28] Like, you know, like I I need someone to explain this to me

[00:32:32] because I don't know is her name is a real name ray gun or is that

[00:32:35] like her fucking name is Rachel something with gun

[00:32:38] in the last name likes I don't I don't remember the exact name.

[00:32:42] But like it's it's actually like parts of her first

[00:32:44] and last name made into ray gun.

[00:32:47] So it's Rachel Gunn G.

[00:32:49] You and and Rachel Gunn.

[00:32:53] That old ray gun.

[00:32:55] Well, anyway.

[00:32:57] Well, so so kind of shifting over to a very large RPG

[00:33:02] that's not open world, but it feels almost open world.

[00:33:05] Baldur's Gate three. Yes.

[00:33:07] So let me tell you the difference

[00:33:09] between myself and my husband and how we play this game.

[00:33:13] So I run around and I have to go through everything.

[00:33:16] I have to look at everything.

[00:33:17] I have to explore everything

[00:33:18] and pick up every item and sell it.

[00:33:20] Every single item and sell it does not matter.

[00:33:23] All of that stuff, because like I'm a complete klepto

[00:33:27] when it comes to stuff in Elder Scrolls,

[00:33:29] like I will sit there in plain sight, crouch down in front

[00:33:33] of a dude like an NPC who's standing there

[00:33:36] and I'm going to wait until like that little sneak bar is such

[00:33:39] that I can steal that one blueberry

[00:33:41] because I'm going to fucking steal that blueberry

[00:33:43] and I'm going to sit there until I get it.

[00:33:45] And that's an elder elder scroll.

[00:33:48] So like when it comes to Baldur's Gate,

[00:33:50] I'm the same way.

[00:33:51] Like I have to pick up everything, everything that I can pick up.

[00:33:54] And I go everywhere and I explore everything

[00:33:56] before I do all the main quests.

[00:33:58] Meanwhile, my husband decides that he's going to make

[00:34:01] Gorm the Gormless a half a halfling barbarian

[00:34:04] and he's going to kill all the companions

[00:34:06] and he's going to do the entire thing by himself

[00:34:10] and do the entire game solo.

[00:34:12] So that's what he's doing

[00:34:15] and just mainlining it.

[00:34:16] The whole thing just skipping over everything.

[00:34:19] And we are doing individual quests, right?

[00:34:23] I'm doing mine.

[00:34:24] He's doing his solos.

[00:34:25] But then we're also playing a co-op campaign

[00:34:28] and this is the funniest shit.

[00:34:30] When I'm running around and picking up all the stuff

[00:34:32] instead of helping me so it goes faster,

[00:34:34] he puts his character and whatever NPC he's controlling

[00:34:39] and puts them to sit into chairs

[00:34:41] like they're like, you know, in the husband chair

[00:34:44] waiting for me to finish shopping or something.

[00:34:45] Although he's the one who shops more than I do.

[00:34:50] So he's just sitting his little character in a chair

[00:34:52] waiting for me to be done.

[00:34:57] My friend Joey is like that too,

[00:34:59] where he has to pick up fucking everything and go sell it.

[00:35:02] But no, sir, I just love being a big fucking stupid goof.

[00:35:06] Like all in like at the end of like every character's turn

[00:35:10] I'll always make sure I have them use their extra action

[00:35:13] to like to shove everybody in like every fucking direction

[00:35:16] regardless of if there's a cliff or anything else

[00:35:19] they can fall into or not just because like, yeah,

[00:35:21] might as well do to get that extra action.

[00:35:23] Just give them a shove, get them away.

[00:35:25] Yep.

[00:35:25] I was going to say too, like,

[00:35:27] because we were talking about open world games,

[00:35:29] the other open world game that I do actually enjoy

[00:35:33] are the new Zelda games.

[00:35:35] But oh yeah, my approach to those games are...

[00:35:38] What's that?

[00:35:40] What's that thing?

[00:35:42] And then you go to that thing.

[00:35:43] And then as you're on your way to that thing,

[00:35:45] you're like, yeah, but like what's that thing then?

[00:35:46] And then you go to that thing.

[00:35:48] And then you're like, wait a second, is that a cave?

[00:35:52] I'm going in the cave.

[00:35:53] Going in the cave right now.

[00:35:54] And then you're like, holy shit,

[00:35:55] there's a chest in the cave.

[00:35:56] And then you get all excited and you open up the chest

[00:35:57] and it's like a fucking stick with a rock attached to it.

[00:35:59] And you're like, all right, yeah.

[00:36:01] And let me go back to the thing before the thing.

[00:36:03] Before the thing.

[00:36:03] Before the thing.

[00:36:04] And then you're like, oh wait,

[00:36:06] I was actually supposed to be doing something, I think.

[00:36:09] And then you open up your menu and it's just like,

[00:36:12] find Zelda and it's like...

[00:36:14] I'm not pushing it anywhere.

[00:36:16] Right.

[00:36:17] I guess I'm playing this right?

[00:36:20] Well, I played Breath of the Wild

[00:36:22] and as soon as I got the hang glider,

[00:36:23] I just started climbing everything

[00:36:25] and hang gliding off of everything.

[00:36:27] And that's about the time that I just stopped.

[00:36:29] I started climbing everything

[00:36:31] and after I was gliding around and everything,

[00:36:35] then I'm like, I'm done now.

[00:36:37] That's all I just wanted to do that.

[00:36:39] Do you ever like just look at a mountain and be like,

[00:36:42] man, I can get up that with just one bar of stamina?

[00:36:48] I think I could do it.

[00:36:49] And then also,

[00:36:50] if this isn't shit to like stay and be like,

[00:36:52] all right, let's just see if this stamina can like,

[00:36:54] and you kind of like glitch into the side of the mountain

[00:36:56] a little bit where you're not supposed to.

[00:36:57] It's like you're standing, but you're not supposed to be.

[00:37:00] And then you just let your stamina like go back up

[00:37:02] and you're like, all right, we got this.

[00:37:04] Let's go.

[00:37:05] Well, that and then circling back to Skyrim

[00:37:07] doing that with Skyrim,

[00:37:09] especially when it was still all broken in shit.

[00:37:11] With the horses.

[00:37:12] Yeah, those poor horses.

[00:37:15] The things that reminds me do with with tears of the kingdom.

[00:37:20] Back when Tommy, well, I mean, Tommy and I still talk a lot.

[00:37:22] But like back when he used to be in the show,

[00:37:24] we would just back when he was my friend.

[00:37:27] Back when he was still among us in the living.

[00:37:30] No, he we messaged each other all the time

[00:37:32] about shit we're doing in tears of the kingdom.

[00:37:35] And one of the fucking stupidest things ever

[00:37:37] is just like how we tackle puzzles

[00:37:41] or just like things we see in the world.

[00:37:44] Because like Tommy will try to find the most

[00:37:46] like like smart way of doing things.

[00:37:49] But I kind of like just like brute force my way

[00:37:53] into into stupid shit situations.

[00:37:55] Like I couldn't tell you where the fuck this was.

[00:37:59] But there was just like some chest on top of a top of like a cliff

[00:38:04] that was like further up a mountain or whatever.

[00:38:06] So I just fucking combined a stick to like a board

[00:38:10] and then like tried my damnedest to lay it against the wall

[00:38:14] so I could like run up the board, but like that still wouldn't do it.

[00:38:18] So I just crafted some stupid,

[00:38:22] badly rigged giant bridge and yeah, I don't know.

[00:38:26] I don't know if anybody else does that in tears of the kingdom or not.

[00:38:28] But I make the stupidest garbage in that game and I love it.

[00:38:32] Like getting a horse drawn carriage and gluing hot air balloon to it

[00:38:37] and then using that as your means of traversal because that's really fun.

[00:38:40] Like your horse is just like, bro, come on.

[00:38:43] I can't feel my hooves.

[00:38:46] I can't feel my hooves.

[00:38:48] The poor abused horses in every fucking game.

[00:38:52] Yeah, anybody else is approach to a fighting game,

[00:38:54] just a b b b b a a a a b b b b b b a a a x y.

[00:39:00] And then just you lose.

[00:39:02] No, unless it's soul caliber or

[00:39:05] or is different though.

[00:39:06] Right. Like there's no like you can't really button mash a soul calorie.

[00:39:10] I mean, you can.

[00:39:11] But like it's not there's it's not like combo heavy in the sense of like doing

[00:39:16] like up down left right up down left right up down left right a b a b up

[00:39:19] down left right like that doesn't do that shit is more so just like stab

[00:39:24] step backwards now stab again.

[00:39:27] Unless you're off.

[00:39:28] Fail. Just tap y and he'll go like.

[00:39:30] That's a job that's a job.

[00:39:32] Oh, that move is so good.

[00:39:34] And people that are good at soul caliber off so much.

[00:39:37] So caliber kind of almost feels like

[00:39:40] kind of the dare I say it the Dark Souls of fighting games.

[00:39:44] But hear me out dare say it.

[00:39:45] And I hear me out.

[00:39:47] OK, you'll look at it.

[00:39:48] So like it's like in Dark Souls, it's got all those.

[00:39:52] Yeah, that's true.

[00:39:53] You have all those fucking and we are at Voldo like, holy shit.

[00:39:56] Yeah, Dark Souls have like the movements all feel like heavy and deliberate.

[00:40:01] You know, when you take a swing this way or your timing,

[00:40:04] your attacks to like kind of like parry the enemy and like go this way and that

[00:40:09] same in like soul caliber because like Street Fighter.

[00:40:13] Yeah, you just sit there and just tap the fucking A and B buns back and forth

[00:40:16] and hope something cool happens unless you're fucking Daigo Umihara,

[00:40:19] which I am not.

[00:40:21] I've played like maybe a total of five hours of Street Fighter, but

[00:40:24] that's the professional.

[00:40:26] There's the question that I have, though.

[00:40:28] If you guys play a fighting game, how do you approach it?

[00:40:33] Are you playing the story mode?

[00:40:35] Are you going like versus computer and just doing like versus matches?

[00:40:39] Are you actually looking for like this?

[00:40:41] Because like, I'll be honest with you, those new model combat games,

[00:40:45] their fucking story modes are amazing.

[00:40:49] Like they are batshit crazy.

[00:40:51] It's like watching a fucking movie and then you're just like sitting there

[00:40:56] like fucking amazing.

[00:40:57] And then it's like right and you're like, oh, fuck, oh, fuck.

[00:41:01] Try to get your fucking controller ready.

[00:41:02] And you're like, I was into the fucking Johnny Cade all your

[00:41:05] sex with a fucking Shaman monk or something.

[00:41:08] I don't know.

[00:41:09] Yeah, like I've always wanted to get into like the newer mortal

[00:41:13] combats, but my most of my mortal combat time was on one and two

[00:41:17] long, long, long time ago.

[00:41:18] I was more of a street fighter, King of Fighters person.

[00:41:22] Street fighters good.

[00:41:23] And one of my favorites.

[00:41:25] Played six.

[00:41:26] Yeah, I have six.

[00:41:27] Six is good. Six is really good.

[00:41:30] Six is really good.

[00:41:30] I don't have as much time on that because again, it's like twitchy,

[00:41:33] twitchy stuff that I'm not playing a whole lot of because of

[00:41:36] like reasons the time that I have to play video games and stuff.

[00:41:40] But anyway, so usually with those games, like at this point,

[00:41:44] I'm so ingrained with all of the movesets and stuff to where

[00:41:47] I'm fairly well familiar with most of the characters in those series.

[00:41:51] So when there are new characters or if I'm playing against a person,

[00:41:55] I usually try to hang back and see how they play or what they're doing,

[00:41:59] you know, what their skill level is or whatever.

[00:42:01] But I actually don't prefer to fight people, partially because like

[00:42:05] I've had some shitty boyfriends in the past who would be really,

[00:42:09] really competitive and like crappy and like, you know, doing the whole

[00:42:12] dude bro, let me dump on everybody else who's playing video games with me

[00:42:16] kind of thing and like really turned me off to wanting to play competitively

[00:42:21] against other people.

[00:42:23] But I used to play my one, my absolute favorite fighting game

[00:42:27] is Capcom versus S&K2.

[00:42:29] And that one, I'm so excited that it's going to be on that collection

[00:42:33] that's coming out next year.

[00:42:35] So that'll be exciting.

[00:42:37] The Capcom fighting collection too, I believe it is.

[00:42:40] Oh my God.

[00:42:41] Powerstone.

[00:42:42] I know it's also on that same collection.

[00:42:45] Out of here.

[00:42:46] What the fuck is happening?

[00:42:48] Like we're finally getting a Powerstone game outside of the Dreamcast.

[00:42:52] I know it's like all these games I didn't think like I didn't think

[00:42:55] Capcom versus S&K2 would ever be brought back out.

[00:42:58] OK, cool.

[00:43:00] You know, but yeah, like in that game though,

[00:43:02] you can pick up to three characters and you can assign a point ratio.

[00:43:06] So you have a total of four points among three characters.

[00:43:09] And then one of them can be like a two pointer with two one

[00:43:12] pointers or one four point character, however you want to divvy it up.

[00:43:15] And you can pick from Street Fighter in Capcom or

[00:43:19] King of Fighters characters and anyway, like the way that the

[00:43:25] toggling between your characters works is kind of more like a King of Fighters

[00:43:29] where like you just select the order they appear in, but it's not

[00:43:31] like Marvel versus Capcom to where you can tag them in

[00:43:35] and you can't switch out or anything like that, which means

[00:43:39] that it's really like less, way less busy because like

[00:43:43] Marvel first Capcom to is very fun.

[00:43:46] But in that came around around the same time.

[00:43:49] It's very fun.

[00:43:50] But like it's amazing, but it's busy.

[00:43:52] It's very busy.

[00:43:54] And then to like they I understand the reason why,

[00:43:58] because they had so many characters, but like they made all the movesets

[00:44:01] essentially work the same in that game.

[00:44:03] And then it's like, oh, the people who've been playing for a long time,

[00:44:06] like their reflexes no longer work in that game, you know?

[00:44:09] Because it's, you know, the simplified version or whatever where you can just

[00:44:12] easily pull off this triple super or whatever.

[00:44:16] But anyway, I used to play where I would play with another person

[00:44:20] and then we would each pick, you know, two points worth of character,

[00:44:23] whatever that would be, like two one pointers or a two point character or

[00:44:27] whatnot. And then we just take turns who's going first

[00:44:30] and going through fighting against the computer and just constantly turning up

[00:44:34] the AI intelligence level till we were on like Max.

[00:44:38] And when I was doing this on my Dreamcast, like I developed super,

[00:44:42] super player callus on my thumb because that that fucking D-pad was terrible.

[00:44:47] It was so terrible and not not conducive to fighting games whatsoever.

[00:44:52] But anyway, like I'm the fighting game person who doesn't like to play

[00:44:56] against people. I prefer to fight against computers or tag teaming.

[00:45:01] Agreed. Yeah.

[00:45:03] Agreed. Like any any experience I've had with a fighting game online

[00:45:08] has just been I mean, sometimes it's all right.

[00:45:11] Like sometimes I'll win, but more often than that,

[00:45:14] I'll get my ass handed to me by someone who just wants to cheat.

[00:45:17] Well, not cheat. Sorry.

[00:45:18] What's the cheese? The same move over and over and over like

[00:45:21] when when I first got Soul Calibur 4,

[00:45:25] they have always been a Soul Calibur fan.

[00:45:26] I played the shit out of two and three and then four came out

[00:45:30] and they were like, bro, it's got online now.

[00:45:32] You can play online.

[00:45:33] And I was like, dude, I'm I think I'm really good at this game.

[00:45:36] I think I could probably beat everybody online and people would just

[00:45:40] always pick fucking Valdo and crab walk and do his little like break

[00:45:44] the NC moves and annihilate my health or people would just be total dicks

[00:45:48] and spam the same move or like knock me off the edge or same with like

[00:45:53] with like Smash Bros. Ultimate.

[00:45:55] I tried to get good at that game, but like everybody just picks

[00:45:59] the same fucking characters like everybody was either Ganondorf

[00:46:02] or fucking Roy or some other.

[00:46:05] Well, I fuck shit up with Ganondorf.

[00:46:07] So that's yeah, man. That's true.

[00:46:10] And I maybe it's just me, though, because like when I play

[00:46:16] like any game where you can pick a different character,

[00:46:18] like whether it's a MOBA or like a fighting game, something like that.

[00:46:21] Like I tend to want to pick the characters

[00:46:24] that aren't used as often as others.

[00:46:27] Like everybody, like if you play Garoo, Mark of the Wolves or Garo,

[00:46:30] have you want to say it?

[00:46:31] Everybody is going to pick fucking Terry Bogart or something

[00:46:33] or like if you go play Smash Bros. Ultimate, everybody's going to want

[00:46:37] Ganondorf, but I I go for oh, what is his name?

[00:46:41] Pick one of the 58 fucking characters they pulled from Fire Emblem

[00:46:44] that all control the same.

[00:46:46] I didn't pick any of them, dude.

[00:46:47] I went Diddy Kong, Diddy Kong's my man and smash.

[00:46:50] Diddy Kong's good shit.

[00:46:51] Yeah. Or like or even in fuckable say, Yu-Gi-Oh,

[00:46:54] like there's this big giant like meta game to like which decks

[00:46:59] like which decks are the best competitively.

[00:47:01] And I always I don't fucking I ignore all of that.

[00:47:03] I just pick the decks that look fun that nobody uses.

[00:47:06] Then I get my ass handed to me, but it's still fun.

[00:47:09] Like I don't I hate using the same characters as everybody else, man.

[00:47:13] What about you guys?

[00:47:15] So how do you guys go about that?

[00:47:16] You guys pick the ones that are popular or do you just?

[00:47:19] Well, see like in Street Fighter, my favorite is Cami.

[00:47:22] So that's how I usually play.

[00:47:24] But it's just because I like the way that her moves are.

[00:47:27] Yeah. So and it just kind of depends.

[00:47:29] Like I also have a tendency of liking all the Muay Thai characters

[00:47:32] and that works because I am also taking Muay Thai.

[00:47:37] So that's pretty cool.

[00:47:38] But like, of course, me taking Muay Thai came like way later

[00:47:41] after years of playing Muay Thai characters in video games.

[00:47:46] So there's there's a character in King of Fighters

[00:47:50] that I can't I can't think of his name.

[00:47:52] Oh, she was a lot.

[00:47:53] Yes. Yes. With like the red headband.

[00:47:55] He's got the brown spiky hair.

[00:47:57] Yeah, Joe, love that character.

[00:47:59] Oh, my God. Yes. He's so good.

[00:48:01] So like I sometimes I would rock and Capcom versus S&K to the

[00:48:06] like Muay Thai fighters.

[00:48:08] So I would have like Sagat and Joe and King from King of Fighters.

[00:48:12] King is one of my King is one of my main King and Cami.

[00:48:16] So in that game.

[00:48:17] Hell yeah.

[00:48:18] What's what was usually your team in like more

[00:48:22] I almost said mortal

[00:48:23] more versus Capcom versus Capcom to

[00:48:29] was your your three person team.

[00:48:31] Cami would pop up again.

[00:48:34] Who the hell else did I use in that game?

[00:48:36] I've got it's Cami's like good shit.

[00:48:41] I have to think about it.

[00:48:43] Cami, Cami definitely if Cami's in the game, I've got her on my team.

[00:48:46] But I don't know.

[00:48:49] Probably Cami's redesign in Street Fighter

[00:48:51] six is so fucking good.

[00:48:53] It's great.

[00:48:54] It's great to see I do Ice Man every single time.

[00:48:58] Oh, Ice Man is so cheesy because of his 100 percent block on those fireballs.

[00:49:02] Anyway, but like everybody would use that like way to an extreme here.

[00:49:06] Iceman, are you talking about killer instinct?

[00:49:09] No, no, it's glaciers.

[00:49:11] MBC two.

[00:49:12] Yeah, Marvel versus Capcom two.

[00:49:14] I would do Ice Man.

[00:49:17] What is his name?

[00:49:19] You're going to tell me.

[00:49:20] Cyclops sent me into space.

[00:49:23] The samurai guy who could like change elements on his sword or whatever.

[00:49:27] Silver samurai.

[00:49:29] I think that's what his name was.

[00:49:30] Yeah, and the cactus guy, the big bouncy guy.

[00:49:34] Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yes.

[00:49:36] I would I would very often play Trombone Trombone and Cami.

[00:49:41] Sometimes Servbot also.

[00:49:42] And then I just make it like lots of Mega Man people.

[00:49:45] Servbot is great.

[00:49:47] Nobody can hit Servbot because he's so small.

[00:49:50] On the topic of killer instinct, the holy ship.

[00:49:53] I got so fucking good with Riptor.

[00:49:56] I the killer instinct reboot is like my probably my favorite fighting game ever.

[00:50:02] I have to be honest.

[00:50:03] I own that thing and I barely touched it.

[00:50:05] And I have a whole thing like all the go play.

[00:50:08] They have a rogue like single player mode that I love so fucking much.

[00:50:11] What? Yeah. Yeah.

[00:50:12] Fuck it. Yeah, dude.

[00:50:14] It's the oh, I don't know what the fuck the name of it is,

[00:50:18] but it's where like the big bad guy idol.

[00:50:21] It's like, oh, he's coming like in like three three hours

[00:50:25] whenever he's coming to have to go fight his like minions and shit around the world.

[00:50:29] Wreck up as much power as you can and keep your party alive.

[00:50:33] You have like a party of like three characters and you fight and stuff.

[00:50:36] And there's cool like power ups and shit.

[00:50:38] Oh my god.

[00:50:39] I'm going to try that out.

[00:50:41] Have have either of you played Hellblade to know I'm not.

[00:50:46] You know what my approach to Hellblade to was?

[00:50:49] Holding up on the control stick.

[00:50:52] Yeah. And run because it was a fucking walking simulator.

[00:50:57] And then when I wasn't doing that,

[00:50:59] I was pretty much just mashing X and hitting a to dodge.

[00:51:04] That game had some problems for me.

[00:51:08] I thought the visuals were incredible

[00:51:11] and the storytelling was pretty cool, but like, I don't know.

[00:51:17] How do you play horror games or do you play horror games?

[00:51:21] I fucking love the horror game guy.

[00:51:24] He's he's the man, the horror man.

[00:51:27] So like, say for example,

[00:51:28] I was streaming the beginning of Amnesia, the first Amnesia at one point.

[00:51:34] And it was very funny because I was like running towards the critter

[00:51:37] as soon as the critter appeared and like, oh, yes, please eviscerate me.

[00:51:40] But then like at the beginning, you know, you're not supposed to.

[00:51:42] Yes, daddy.

[00:51:43] Like it was just I just wanted to see.

[00:51:46] Like I just wanted to see what the hell happened.

[00:51:48] I wanted to see the death animation.

[00:51:50] So anyway, I was like, come on, fight me, fight me.

[00:51:53] Where are you going? Where are you going?

[00:51:56] And anyway, at the beginning of that game,

[00:52:00] you're not supposed to be able to encounter the monster.

[00:52:02] He's supposed to just be around to scare the shit out of you.

[00:52:04] Right. So like, you know, it goes away.

[00:52:06] So I'm like, he left.

[00:52:08] I feel so chipped.

[00:52:10] Like, what is this?

[00:52:11] You know, and I was so upset.

[00:52:12] But then of course later on, then you actually can, you know,

[00:52:17] come across him and then he kills you.

[00:52:18] And I'm like, oh, OK, he's real.

[00:52:20] Sometimes I do like like those types of horror games.

[00:52:23] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:52:24] I do like to get the, I guess, the jump scare animation out of the way.

[00:52:28] Just be like, what am I fucking with here?

[00:52:30] Let's see what this is.

[00:52:31] If it's just like all of a sudden there's a thing grabbing your screen

[00:52:34] and screaming at you and it's like, all right, I got this.

[00:52:37] The one that I could never get used to was the fucking jump scares in PT with Lisa.

[00:52:45] Yeah, I never got used to it.

[00:52:47] Never ever, ever got used to that shit.

[00:52:49] Jump scares don't work.

[00:52:51] It was one of the worst.

[00:52:53] No. Have you played the Mortuary Assistant?

[00:52:56] I have not played Mortuary Assistant.

[00:52:58] I've watched somebody else play it, though.

[00:53:00] I've watched somebody else play that on screen.

[00:53:02] I would like you to play that game.

[00:53:04] I would. I would love because I also like I'll react to a jump scare,

[00:53:10] but not I won't get a jump.

[00:53:11] I'll just be like, Jesus, God, there.

[00:53:14] But for me to actually physically be like, fuck and like pull away or do anything

[00:53:19] like that, if there's only been a few that I can remember.

[00:53:24] Oh, one of those was pretty much every second of Resident Evil 7 and VR.

[00:53:28] But that was like the first VR thing that I did.

[00:53:30] And I was just like, I guess I'm just going to fucking traumatize

[00:53:33] myself real quick here.

[00:53:35] But then the Mortuary Assistant.

[00:53:39] Fucked my shit up.

[00:53:40] And it's not even like it's not about the boogity, boogity, boo, loud booming noises.

[00:53:46] It's like you see something out of the corner of your eye and you're like,

[00:53:49] wait, what the fuck was that?

[00:53:51] And then you're like looking out the window because you're like,

[00:53:54] could have sworn I just seen something.

[00:53:55] And then you turn back around and you're like,

[00:53:57] you just see hands like on top of like a cabinet.

[00:54:00] It's more about like just that, you know, that feeling when like

[00:54:04] you realize like, oh, fuck, I left the baby in the truck

[00:54:08] while I was at the mall for like four and a half hours.

[00:54:10] You know, like, you know that feeling when like you just get the cold sweats

[00:54:13] and you're like, yeah, that's what Mortuary Assistant feels like.

[00:54:17] But it's like combined with a jump scare and it's it's very effective.

[00:54:22] Oh, so I there was a point where I was back when I still had a functional PC.

[00:54:27] I was streaming Moons of Madness, which that was very funny to play because like, OK,

[00:54:33] in any game, if you give me anything to look at in the environment,

[00:54:36] I'm looking around at everything like, say, for example, in I think it's Half Life 2

[00:54:40] where you've got like the barnacles and stuff, right?

[00:54:42] But then there's like bottles of bleach, but they're just there.

[00:54:45] You can't do anything with them.

[00:54:46] But I was like, can I feed them to the barnacles

[00:54:48] that and then kill them with the bleach?

[00:54:50] That would be so cool.

[00:54:52] But then like they did it just leads me ultimately to feel depressed

[00:54:55] and sad that they didn't put that in there.

[00:54:58] I'm like, but it's they put the bleach bottle.

[00:55:00] They should have made you able to kill the barnacles with things with bleach.

[00:55:04] With bleach, it would be great.

[00:55:06] So and then in Moons of Madness,

[00:55:10] so like I'm looking around because you're on like a space

[00:55:13] space station on Mars or whatever.

[00:55:15] And you know, weird shits happening and you got that love crafty

[00:55:18] and things and whatever.

[00:55:20] But like I'm walking around and then I'm like,

[00:55:22] there's an exercise bike, but not only that, but like they point

[00:55:25] a shining spotlight on this exercise bike that's in like our break room.

[00:55:29] And I'm like, I want to get on the exercise bike.

[00:55:31] You know, like in Resident Evil 6, there's the part in like there

[00:55:36] there's a part in the city where you're playing peers and Chris

[00:55:38] and both of them can go down the slide on their belly

[00:55:42] and then like get on the little rocking horse thing that looks like

[00:55:47] I do too. And it looks like Chris is getting a blow job from a panda.

[00:55:52] Yeah. So that's the thing that they added in there.

[00:55:54] But they didn't they didn't do that in Moons of Madness.

[00:55:57] And I was so sad.

[00:56:00] And what Chris is getting a blow job from a pair.

[00:56:02] What is that?

[00:56:03] There's a in that in that part where you can have peers go down the slide

[00:56:07] on his belly in the little little Children's Park.

[00:56:11] You can have Chris go over to the little panda rocking horse thing.

[00:56:16] And the face is pointed right at the crotch.

[00:56:19] And so it looks like he's rocking back and forth with this panda,

[00:56:22] sucking him off. So.

[00:56:23] So was this a theme with this game?

[00:56:26] Because remember how like the six looked like a draft

[00:56:30] and sucked off by a dude. Yes.

[00:56:33] So I'm serious.

[00:56:35] That like if you're listening to this, you're like, you guys are fucking crazy.

[00:56:38] I'm telling you right now, you go look at the six and Resident Evil 6.

[00:56:42] That's a goddamn draft man standing upright

[00:56:47] cock a blaze with.

[00:56:49] And he's like fucking just smothering a dude.

[00:56:52] Let me tell you about the coffee, the coffee maker in Madness.

[00:56:58] I was so upset they had a coffee maker and you had a cup and you can make cups

[00:57:02] of coffee and I'm like, oh, can I get fucked up on coffee?

[00:57:04] Because I'm like, let me slam back like eight cups of coffee.

[00:57:08] Does it fuck up?

[00:57:09] Does that fuck you up?

[00:57:10] And like I tried and it wouldn't fuck.

[00:57:12] I was so upset.

[00:57:13] I'm like, come on, if you made me able to drink this coffee,

[00:57:15] you should have like something happen if you drink too much coffee.

[00:57:19] Like I'm just saying, especially since this is a horror game.

[00:57:22] Like that would be so good, but they didn't.

[00:57:24] Anyway, there's like a jump scare part in there.

[00:57:27] I was I was playing this game.

[00:57:29] I had headphones on and so my husband is sitting behind me

[00:57:32] and he's watching the screen.

[00:57:34] He does not hear anything because I have the headphones

[00:57:36] and I'm getting into this part and I'm like, oh, there's a jumpscare up here.

[00:57:40] And then as soon as we get to the jumpscare that I knew was there,

[00:57:43] then like I look at the little screen and he's just like, oh,

[00:57:47] and he just jumps.

[00:57:48] And I think I have a clip of it somewhere where he's jumping.

[00:57:50] I'm like, you can't even fucking hear the game.

[00:57:52] What is wrong with you?

[00:57:54] You know, I think I'm far away from Mortuary System.

[00:57:58] Right, right.

[00:57:59] No, he will pass away.

[00:58:00] What's ironic is that he does a podcast all about horror.

[00:58:03] So he does Monster Deer Monster, a podcast specifically about horror media.

[00:58:07] So, oh man, I love fucking horror movies and games.

[00:58:10] That's what I smile.

[00:58:11] It's my Jimmy Jam.

[00:58:12] You tell him to hit me up.

[00:58:14] I'll come on that shit and I'll talk about lots of stuff.

[00:58:17] It's Monster Deer Dot Monster.

[00:58:19] They're currently also doing like a slow lore dive through the DLC

[00:58:24] for Elden Ring at this point, but they're alternating that with like movies.

[00:58:27] So they're not doing it every week.

[00:58:29] So that would have time to work through it.

[00:58:31] I'm a freak and I'm playing.

[00:58:32] Like currently I'm playing the DLC for Elden Ring.

[00:58:36] I bought Wukong and I threw that on.

[00:58:38] And I was like, hey, guess what?

[00:58:40] This game is actually really fucking cool.

[00:58:43] And then today I bought Visions of Mana

[00:58:46] and now I have this stack of shit and I'm like, hell, yeah.

[00:58:50] I remember what it's like to play video games

[00:58:53] and not just talk about them all the time.

[00:58:57] Right.

[00:58:58] I'm never going to get to the mall.

[00:59:00] No, I'm full of games, Steve.

[00:59:02] Also, man, I pre-ordered Octopath Traveler 2.

[00:59:07] It's still in my backlog.

[00:59:08] I still haven't booted it up because I've got a Simon Play for podcast

[00:59:11] and I've got like a limited amount of time to play games in the first place.

[00:59:15] And so like there's only just so much time I have and there's always more shit

[00:59:19] in the backlog, so I don't know when I'm going to play it.

[00:59:22] So I beat Dragon Quest one on the weekend, though.

[00:59:25] Yay. Which was yeah, I just that's like six hours.

[00:59:29] It's like nine nine hours.

[00:59:31] I played this the SNES remake that was translated.

[00:59:35] The translated. Yeah.

[00:59:36] Yeah, it's good, man.

[00:59:37] It's really good. Yeah.

[00:59:38] It was a really good time.

[00:59:39] I mean, you know what?

[00:59:42] How do you guys approach a classic RPG like that?

[00:59:45] Are you guys like, oh, that's a good one.

[00:59:48] Are you like me?

[00:59:49] We're like, you know, when they cut you loose,

[00:59:52] I'm always looking for the cut loose part

[00:59:55] after the story builds up a bit and you're like, all right, yeah.

[00:59:59] Tell me what the bad stuff is.

[01:00:00] OK, and introduce me to a few characters.

[01:00:02] Give me my shit to be on my way.

[01:00:05] And when you get cut loose

[01:00:07] and when you get to that first fucking town,

[01:00:10] like the first town that's like outside of the normal town or whatever

[01:00:15] it is that you start at once you get there, it's almost like

[01:00:18] this is my fucking base for the next four hours.

[01:00:22] And I just start to like explore around.

[01:00:25] And I I really like it when there's stuff to explore.

[01:00:30] And it's not just like, yeah, you're going to go to this town.

[01:00:33] But like, ultimately, you're just going to talk to one dude

[01:00:37] that's going to be like, I saw a bear in the cave and then you go to the cave.

[01:00:40] And then that pushes you forward.

[01:00:42] I like when you go somewhere.

[01:00:43] And I think Dragon Quest is fucking awesome at doing this,

[01:00:46] because like you'll get to a town and someone will be like,

[01:00:48] I don't know, you just talk to the people there.

[01:00:50] But like, ultimately, you could go outside of that town

[01:00:53] and kind of wander around and explore.

[01:00:56] And even in Dragon Quest One, I was like,

[01:00:58] this is really cool how they just they don't really tell you what you're

[01:01:01] supposed to do. They're like, hey, you just got to like

[01:01:03] fucking become the hero, man.

[01:01:05] I don't know what to tell you.

[01:01:06] You got to find some shit and like you just go out and you're like

[01:01:09] found a tomb. There was a guy.

[01:01:11] He told me I was not the hero.

[01:01:14] I had to get some stuff.

[01:01:15] So now I'm going to go find that stuff.

[01:01:16] And then you go back to the king and you're like,

[01:01:18] bro, I got some shit to do.

[01:01:20] And he's like, we'll fucking get at it.

[01:01:21] And like just I love fucking games that just kind of cut you loose.

[01:01:27] And they're like, just go fucking do the thing.

[01:01:29] So but I have a I have a whole story

[01:01:33] about it like that's that's not really about my approach to it necessarily.

[01:01:36] But it's it's a sad sob story that I love to tell because it's such drama.

[01:01:42] So so OK, first off, when it comes to just general

[01:01:45] RPGs that are on rails, I will always always always explore everywhere.

[01:01:49] And I will try to get everywhere they will let me go.

[01:01:51] And so sometimes that means you can go to a town before you're supposed

[01:01:55] to be there.

[01:01:55] And I liked it like preemptively explore the town before I go back

[01:01:58] and do whatever I was supposed to do.

[01:02:00] I will finish RPGs, though.

[01:02:02] That's a thing that I will finish because it's enough on rails

[01:02:05] and it gives me enough of, you know, like a direct path.

[01:02:08] And there is so much of a story focus that I will actually finish

[01:02:12] that game versus an open world game.

[01:02:14] But anyway, so my sob story.

[01:02:18] So there is this game on the Sega Genesis

[01:02:21] and is called Dungeons and Dragons Warriors of the Eternal Sun.

[01:02:24] And this is a video game that like, OK, so I had a Genesis

[01:02:29] and, you know, there's not a whole hell of a lot of RPGs on that.

[01:02:32] But I loved Shining Force.

[01:02:34] That was my first RPG.

[01:02:36] And then after that, like I got other ones like Fantasy Star

[01:02:39] and whatever, but like Shining Force was my favorite.

[01:02:42] But I got this one.

[01:02:43] It was D&D. And I was like, cool, I want to rent this

[01:02:46] from the video game store or the video store and play it

[01:02:49] and everything. So I opened it up.

[01:02:51] I started getting into it.

[01:02:52] I made my character started going off into the world.

[01:02:54] And the whole premise of that game is like you and your

[01:02:57] whole civilization or town or kingdom or whatever got like

[01:03:01] lifted up in the sky by magic one day and then plopped in the middle

[01:03:04] of a valley.

[01:03:05] And now you don't know where the hell you are, why you're there

[01:03:08] and what's going on.

[01:03:10] So like you're just kind of turned loose as adventurers to figure shit out.

[01:03:13] And it's cool because it has like overworld turn based fighting,

[01:03:18] but then it also has like first person dungeon mode.

[01:03:20] So it's got like dungeon crawler element as well.

[01:03:23] Very cool. Either way, I start playing it.

[01:03:26] I dig into it.

[01:03:27] I'm getting really, really far, but then it's finally time for me

[01:03:30] to turn it off and go to sleep.

[01:03:31] So I'm like, OK, let me save my game, turn it off.

[01:03:34] I come back the next day.

[01:03:35] The save date is gone because like the battery in the

[01:03:38] cartridge was all fucked.

[01:03:39] And so I went through and I played again.

[01:03:42] And I didn't understand what was going on because this is

[01:03:44] the first time I'd ever had a battery problem before.

[01:03:47] And so I did it all again, you know, and then again got wiped.

[01:03:51] So then I was part broken.

[01:03:53] We had to return it.

[01:03:54] And then the next time we went to the video game store, the

[01:03:56] video store and I got the same video game again.

[01:03:59] I'm like, maybe this is a different copy.

[01:04:00] They only had one.

[01:04:02] So I was like, well, let me leave my Sega Genesis on.

[01:04:06] And then maybe that way it'll still be OK.

[01:04:09] But then it overheated.

[01:04:11] Like I never fucking finished the fucking game.

[01:04:14] And I couldn't find it anywhere to buy because this is back

[01:04:16] in the day when you didn't have online and like you had

[01:04:19] a Toys R Us maybe or a Babbage's or something.

[01:04:21] And is it?

[01:04:23] Babbage's.

[01:04:25] Electron before there was electronic.

[01:04:26] I just want to like, yeah, I just want to give like

[01:04:29] little Jala Hugga me like it's OK.

[01:04:31] Oh, I have another terrible one talking about sad drama.

[01:04:34] So God.

[01:04:36] So when I had a Sega Sega CD, I like was so excited

[01:04:40] because I saw in the Toys R Us a copy of Shining Force CD.

[01:04:45] And I was like, this is the only copy I'm going to buy

[01:04:48] this game and play this game.

[01:04:49] I'm so excited.

[01:04:50] Shining Force, my favorite one of my favorite series.

[01:04:52] So I buy it and then on the car ride home, I'm trying to take it out

[01:04:56] and then the disc snaps in half.

[01:04:58] Oh, and I never found like we went back there.

[01:05:02] We called around.

[01:05:03] There was no other place that had it.

[01:05:05] And I never got another copy and I never got to play it.

[01:05:10] What?

[01:05:11] Yeah. Oh my God.

[01:05:12] So I guess in that way, my approach to playing video games

[01:05:16] in this way, the physical media was a big limiter and sad

[01:05:20] and depressing. So maybe one day when I get a working PC again,

[01:05:25] I will be able to make myself stream these and then I'll be

[01:05:28] able to play like ROMs or something because.

[01:05:31] Do it also unlock the memory of mine that I forgot about

[01:05:35] and it was about renting games.

[01:05:38] I remember vividly before I owned Secret of Mana.

[01:05:42] I rented it from Blockbuster.

[01:05:45] Spent a whole weekend with it like and it just so happened.

[01:05:50] There was no save files when I rented this.

[01:05:54] It was like a message just came out.

[01:05:56] So I like rented it and I was like, start new game. Cool.

[01:05:59] Yeah. Name my character, my own fucking name.

[01:06:03] Go about my day the whole weekend because Blockbuster had

[01:06:07] like the three day rental thing.

[01:06:08] And I was like, oh, fuck yeah, I got this game.

[01:06:11] I put a good dent in it.

[01:06:13] The next weekend, I was like, oh, I'm going back and I'm

[01:06:16] renting that game.

[01:06:18] My dumb fucking kid brain was like, yeah,

[01:06:20] I'll just go back and rent the game.

[01:06:22] My save files obviously going to be there.

[01:06:25] So I like pick it up.

[01:06:28] I remember popping it in.

[01:06:29] It was like all these other names.

[01:06:31] And I'm like, we got the wrong one.

[01:06:33] So I'm like, we got to go back to Blockbuster.

[01:06:37] They gave us the wrong game.

[01:06:38] And we had to go back to Blockbuster.

[01:06:40] And I was like, yeah, I don't know why I turned into a fucking

[01:06:44] Italian when I Joe Pesci.

[01:06:49] So yeah, I was like, we got to go back.

[01:06:51] We got to bring this back.

[01:06:53] And she was like, all right, like Blockbuster wasn't that far away from our house.

[01:06:57] So we go back in and she's like, so my son's saying that you guys

[01:07:00] gave him the wrong game.

[01:07:01] I was like, yeah, this isn't my game.

[01:07:04] This is somebody else's.

[01:07:06] And the guy is just like the guy is just like holding up the cartridges.

[01:07:09] And he's like, this is the only cartridge we have here.

[01:07:12] I'm like, this is the one.

[01:07:15] First off, man, your child's an idiot to the only copy we have.

[01:07:20] Can we euthanize this child right now?

[01:07:22] Because like not it's yet you got to get rid of this.

[01:07:24] This is dumb kid vibes right now.

[01:07:27] You got to put him down.

[01:07:30] He's got to put your kid down.

[01:07:32] So like, yeah, he's like, he's like, well, what game did you think

[01:07:35] you had? And I was like, well, I want a secret man.

[01:07:37] And he's like, this is the secret of man.

[01:07:39] And I was like, yeah, but it's not my secret of man.

[01:07:41] He's like, you don't own this game.

[01:07:43] And I was like, starting to get like upset in this block of block.

[01:07:47] I was really, yeah, but I started that game.

[01:07:50] I started that game and I named my character Jerry.

[01:07:53] And the guy's just like, all right, man.

[01:07:56] Like, I don't know what to tell you.

[01:07:57] Like here's a free movie rental.

[01:08:00] I don't know the fuck out of here.

[01:08:01] So I remember just like going back home and mom is like,

[01:08:04] so is this the right game?

[01:08:05] And I'm like, well, no, it's not.

[01:08:08] But I guess it's just going to have to do.

[01:08:10] And I was loaded up some fucking save file.

[01:08:12] And it's like one is like way at like way, way after where I was.

[01:08:17] And I was just like, I don't know what any is what anything's happening anymore.

[01:08:21] I don't know who these characters are.

[01:08:23] I don't know where to go with this fucking dragon.

[01:08:26] Why can't I play a flute in the dragon shows up?

[01:08:28] And like, then I remember like trying to another save file.

[01:08:31] And it was like, this is way, way behind where I even was.

[01:08:35] Like, I was so much further than this.

[01:08:37] And it was a good long time before I played Secret of Mana again.

[01:08:40] Yeah, sad, Jerry, like probably three years.

[01:08:43] And then I ended up one of the kids that my mom babysit sat was like,

[01:08:49] do you want to borrow this game?

[01:08:50] And I was like, yep.

[01:08:50] And then my mom stopped babysitting and he was like,

[01:08:52] here, you still have my game.

[01:08:54] And I was like, no.

[01:08:58] You guys remember stealing games for friends?

[01:09:02] I have a fun story about somebody being super baller and letting me borrow

[01:09:07] like a whole fucking system and they had never met me face to face.

[01:09:11] So I was part of the early internets, big community around an old anime series

[01:09:18] called Slayers, and it was my favorite anime series.

[01:09:20] And I like one, like quiz competitions and stuff like that.

[01:09:26] And got free stuff and, you know, was actually like known in the

[01:09:29] community of the small early internet days for knowing about this series.

[01:09:35] And anyway, like there were a couple of RPGs that were on the Sega Saturn.

[01:09:39] And so I had a Sega Saturn, but I didn't have like the import cart thing

[01:09:44] that you needed to be able to play import games.

[01:09:46] And I didn't have the copy of the game.

[01:09:47] And there was somebody that I was talking to online who was like,

[01:09:50] I will let you borrow the little, you know, action replay thing.

[01:09:54] And then like the game.

[01:09:55] And I was like, what for real?

[01:09:57] And they did.

[01:09:58] They mailed it to me.

[01:09:59] They let me borrow it for as long as I wanted until I beat it.

[01:10:02] And then I mailed it back to them.

[01:10:04] And it was like the coolest fucking thing from the early internet

[01:10:07] where some random person on the internet trusted me with their

[01:10:10] like import game and let me play this game that was from my favorite series.

[01:10:15] And that was really wild.

[01:10:16] Yeah, yeah.

[01:10:17] So, you know, like approaching with enthusiasm, I suppose is sometimes a good thing.

[01:10:23] Yay. But to have you guys played MMOs, like at all.

[01:10:28] Before we get to that, I think we're about an hour and 17 minutes in.

[01:10:32] Let's take an ad break.

[01:10:33] Do you guys want to take an ad break?

[01:10:34] Sure.

[01:10:36] Let's take an ad break.

[01:14:07] Just like my fucking shiny 4 CD game!

[01:14:11] Oh, my God.

[01:14:16] Hang on, I gotta jot this down.

[01:14:18] I've got one just like that for after the ad break.

[01:14:20] Hold on.

[01:14:23] OK, cool.

[01:14:25] So this one comes to us from Thrac.

[01:14:28] He gave me a good bunch of cool ideas to add to the

[01:14:31] the whole ad break list.

[01:14:33] So Thrac, thank you, buddy.

[01:14:34] Love you. Kisses.

[01:14:36] Hamburger Helper and all that.

[01:14:40] So. Man, how do I start this?

[01:14:43] Hey, guys, we'll start with that.

[01:14:45] Hey, both of you got how

[01:14:48] sticky notes, right?

[01:14:50] Sometimes they stick, sometimes they don't, right?

[01:14:52] Am I right? You're right.

[01:14:54] That is a fair assumption.

[01:14:55] Fuck them sticky notes.

[01:14:58] Oh, man, yeah.

[01:14:59] For real, sometimes you get a little

[01:15:01] stack of sticky notes.

[01:15:02] You try to stick them on to like your fridge

[01:15:04] or like your face or your water bottle or whatever.

[01:15:07] And sometimes they stick, sometimes they don't.

[01:15:09] Here's a cool, cool new idea for you

[01:15:14] from the company over at Extra Sticky Sticky Notes.

[01:15:16] Yep, it's extra sticky sticky notes.

[01:15:17] They stick to everything.

[01:15:18] They're permanent, even semi-permanent.

[01:15:21] The only way to get them off is with a special

[01:15:22] solvent that takes three to five days to deliver.

[01:15:27] Jerry, extra sticky sticky notes.

[01:15:29] Take it away, Jerry.

[01:15:32] I've been using these for the past five months.

[01:15:38] My marriage has been in collapse

[01:15:40] and I've been trying to piece my marriage

[01:15:44] back together with these sticky sticky notes,

[01:15:47] the extra, extra sticky sticky notes.

[01:15:49] And God damn it, it fucking worked.

[01:15:52] I sticky noted my wife to my arm one day

[01:15:56] and there you go.

[01:15:58] That was that was when she filed for divorce.

[01:16:01] She said, I cannot believe you've done this to us.

[01:16:04] And I said, too fucking bad.

[01:16:07] This is how it is.

[01:16:09] You will love me no matter what.

[01:16:11] Now you're a part of me.

[01:16:13] Then she demanded that we order the the solvent

[01:16:16] and I didn't.

[01:16:20] So then she ripped a very good chunk of my arm off.

[01:16:24] But marriage, I think, is getting better.

[01:16:27] So I owe it to the sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky notes

[01:16:30] that the sponsor has given us that is starting

[01:16:33] to patch my marriage back up.

[01:16:35] So I really, I really appreciate it.

[01:16:39] Solvents on the way.

[01:16:40] I hope that I can get the rest of her arm off

[01:16:43] of my arm as well.

[01:16:44] That's right.

[01:16:45] And the reason the solvent takes so long, excuse number one,

[01:16:48] they brew it special for every order.

[01:16:51] We got to make sure they, you know, it's freshly made.

[01:16:53] It's not not made with any kind of like

[01:16:56] preservatives or like artificial colors for whatever reason.

[01:17:01] So yeah, they freshly brew it per order

[01:17:04] and special bottles they make themselves.

[01:17:06] Handcraft them even hand blown glass, all that stuff.

[01:17:09] Jala extra sticky, sticky notes take away.

[01:17:12] I really, really need my solvent like yesterday

[01:17:16] because my husband decided that he was going to use his super

[01:17:20] stupor, sticky, sticky, sticky notes.

[01:17:23] And he used them a little bit too many

[01:17:27] and got some of the sticky, sticky, sticky on his hands

[01:17:29] and then had to go to the bathroom

[01:17:31] and you know what happened after that.

[01:17:34] And so we have ourselves a little bit of a crisis.

[01:17:37] He can't go to work like this.

[01:17:38] You can't eat like this.

[01:17:41] Having food feed this man

[01:17:43] because of these sticky, sticky, sticky notes working so well.

[01:17:49] That he's disabled.

[01:17:51] There needs to be.

[01:17:52] I should say I have written to the manufacturer

[01:17:55] to ask them to please put a label, a warning label

[01:17:58] on this search surgeon general's warning

[01:18:00] about touching your nuts or your business

[01:18:04] when you have used these.

[01:18:06] I'll tell you, there's a light at the end of the tunnel

[01:18:08] because just after my wife decided to break off of my arm,

[01:18:12] I was like, you know what?

[01:18:13] I got nothing to lose.

[01:18:14] I started cranking it down

[01:18:15] and I didn't realize that this super sticky, sticky, ultimate

[01:18:18] sticky, sticky is that, you know, that would happen.

[01:18:22] One of the best crank downs of my life, by the way,

[01:18:25] thanks to the sticky notes, but.

[01:18:27] And you were able to seal all the blood

[01:18:29] and stuff coming out of your arm with the super sticky, sticky.

[01:18:33] This is what I was getting at.

[01:18:35] I was getting at this is the fact that

[01:18:36] the blood actually acts a lot like the solvent.

[01:18:40] I hear why it must because it started to come loose.

[01:18:45] So what I think the solvent is made out of

[01:18:48] is the blood of people.

[01:18:49] I'm going to stop you right there.

[01:18:50] Hold on.

[01:18:52] No, they're sponsoring this episode,

[01:18:53] so we can't include this part.

[01:18:55] But yeah, so after, I mean, you're right.

[01:18:59] You're right.

[01:19:00] That's exactly it.

[01:19:01] But forget about that.

[01:19:03] Amazing crackdown though.

[01:19:04] The crackdown was amazing.

[01:19:06] Amazing crackdown.

[01:19:07] It should make, you know what?

[01:19:09] It's like a Tim Allen movie.

[01:19:11] Oh my God, Aaron.

[01:19:13] I got a finger in the ear.

[01:19:16] Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.

[01:19:18] Finger in the ear.

[01:19:19] Just this just in.

[01:19:22] Folks, you don't have to worry.

[01:19:25] We have the DLC.

[01:19:27] Okay.

[01:19:27] The DLC is coming for this.

[01:19:29] This always DLC.

[01:19:30] The super duper sticky, sticky, sticky note

[01:19:34] lube for him and her or them, whoever, whoever wants it.

[01:19:40] For those true unions.

[01:19:43] Yeah, it's kind of like what the Mormons do

[01:19:45] when they fucking, when they dock or wherever the fuck

[01:19:47] they do, where they just like the.

[01:19:50] It's like dipping or like soaking.

[01:19:54] Edging, soaking.

[01:19:56] So you heard a soaking and not the fucking composer

[01:19:59] for Final Fantasy 14.

[01:20:01] The actual act of.

[01:20:04] Get the fuck out of here, dude.

[01:20:10] Not him.

[01:20:11] I'm talking about the actual very professional

[01:20:14] act of soaking in your loved one.

[01:20:18] Whether they're Mormon or not.

[01:20:20] And I'm telling you, you just fucking whack

[01:20:22] just a jar of this stuff on there.

[01:20:26] You're never not going to soak again

[01:20:27] because you'll be soaking for the rest of your life.

[01:20:30] Oh, it's not.

[01:20:32] Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.

[01:20:33] That's just in.

[01:20:34] They also have extra sticky, sticky notes

[01:20:36] that are completely covered in this sticky garbage shit.

[01:20:40] They can even act as like a like a skin graft.

[01:20:42] So hey, did you burn off all your skin

[01:20:45] in a horrible, awful deep fryer accident?

[01:20:48] Third degree burns all over your body

[01:20:50] because you really love Tater tots.

[01:20:51] Well, guess what?

[01:20:53] Hey, wait, let me make sure I get this in the mic.

[01:20:56] You slap a sticky note on there.

[01:20:59] Yeah, and you know what?

[01:21:00] Hey, I lost my dog, got hit by a truck.

[01:21:04] Really sad to miss that dog.

[01:21:06] But you know what?

[01:21:06] Did you just stick them back together?

[01:21:08] No, made a brand new one.

[01:21:09] Well, that too, yeah.

[01:21:10] Made him brand new, reanimated him even.

[01:21:12] What's his name, Humpty?

[01:21:15] All the King's horses and all the King's men

[01:21:17] used extra sticky, sticky notes

[01:21:19] to put them back together again.

[01:21:21] Poor Humpty.

[01:21:22] Poor Humpty.

[01:21:25] That's it for me, man.

[01:21:26] Holy shit, that dog one really wiped me out.

[01:21:29] That was more than a shit.

[01:21:33] You patch a hole in your car, in your inner tube,

[01:21:37] patch a hole in whatever the fuck.

[01:21:40] As I've proven.

[01:21:42] In your marriage?

[01:21:44] Oh my God.

[01:21:45] If you want to fake a disability like,

[01:21:47] like Jala's husband, yeah, just glue one to your hand

[01:21:50] like to whatever part of your body you want.

[01:21:52] Head, butt, balls, whatever you want.

[01:21:55] Yeah, boom, you're technically disabled now

[01:21:56] because you gotta wait fucking three to five weeks

[01:21:58] to get this solvent.

[01:22:00] So thanks for sponsoring this episode, Extra Drive.

[01:22:03] Thanks for disabling our audience.

[01:22:05] Thanks for putting my dog back together,

[01:22:08] extra sticky, sticky notes.

[01:22:12] Love you, Humpty.

[01:22:18] Be Humpty.

[01:22:21] Do the Humpty Hum.

[01:22:23] Do the Humpty Hum.

[01:22:25] Rip Humpty Hum.

[01:22:27] Oh boy.

[01:22:28] Hey Jala, are we back?

[01:22:30] Are we back?

[01:22:32] I guess we are.

[01:22:33] We're back.

[01:22:34] I believe that I'm still stuck to my chair.

[01:22:37] Same.

[01:22:39] Same, my hands will never be the same

[01:22:41] because they're permanently like this.

[01:22:43] I can never put my fingers back together

[01:22:45] because they're stuck like that.

[01:22:46] Well, I can only lift this hand up.

[01:22:50] Oh, you could like permanently web your hands with those.

[01:22:52] Oh, we still don't?

[01:22:54] Oh, we could but like, this is the DLC, yeah.

[01:22:58] You want to web your fingers to become.

[01:22:59] This is the DLC.

[01:23:01] To become the ultimate aquatic apex predator.

[01:23:04] You just web your hands and your toes.

[01:23:06] Fucking giant sticky note monster.

[01:23:08] You could make.

[01:23:09] It's like, come on Demasi, like there you go.

[01:23:12] You just roll around and get everything stuck to you.

[01:23:15] And you've got a video game right there.

[01:23:16] You could make yourself a wing suit

[01:23:18] just like Pat a whole bunch back here.

[01:23:20] You can just fly through the sky

[01:23:22] like some sort of like the thing from Jeepers Creepers.

[01:23:25] Just like I'm a fucking eagle driver.

[01:23:28] Don't talk to me like that.

[01:23:29] Fuck you, Corrie and Trevor.

[01:23:31] Smokes.

[01:23:32] Smokes boys of school.

[01:23:33] Wingsuits look like snuggies.

[01:23:35] They're very upsetting to me.

[01:23:37] Like when they should make one in the rubber.

[01:23:39] You know, in the rubber patents in movie

[01:23:41] where he's got the wing suit on.

[01:23:43] He just looks like he's in a bat snuggie.

[01:23:45] It's the worst.

[01:23:46] How embarrassing would it be to die in one of those?

[01:23:49] A wingsuit snuggie.

[01:23:51] Yeah.

[01:23:52] Oh, what do we got here?

[01:23:53] Is somebody having a nap in a bear suit?

[01:23:55] No, that's someone that died in the fucking.

[01:23:56] When they soiled themselves.

[01:23:58] They soiled themselves in their snuggie.

[01:24:03] Holy fuck, man.

[01:24:05] Who's this little guy in their snuggie on a trail

[01:24:08] in the fucking mountains?

[01:24:10] Oh, it's a dead guy.

[01:24:12] Oh, man.

[01:24:13] So here's my tragic story.

[01:24:15] Oh, yeah. Right.

[01:24:16] Go ahead.

[01:24:17] Go ahead.

[01:24:17] Just do it.

[01:24:18] Oh, man.

[01:24:19] Besides the time I know whatever.

[01:24:22] Anyway, so when I was a kid,

[01:24:23] I was trying to play through Final Fantasy VIII

[01:24:26] heavy emphasis on trying

[01:24:28] because number one, I didn't understand.

[01:24:30] Not a great game.

[01:24:31] I didn't understand the fucking game.

[01:24:34] The first Final Fantasy I played as a kid was seven.

[01:24:37] And that one was not necessarily straightforward

[01:24:40] with how the game works.

[01:24:42] But I mean, it's a little bit more understandable

[01:24:45] than say like the the junction system at eight

[01:24:48] and even like the draw system was kind of weird, but cool.

[01:24:51] I got all the way to disc two.

[01:24:53] Like I felt like I was doing pretty well

[01:24:54] all the way to disc two.

[01:24:56] I'm pretty sure it was disc two.

[01:24:58] I was right at the end.

[01:24:59] It's where you're in this like factory or something

[01:25:02] and you fight this like giant robot boss thing.

[01:25:06] So I beat the boss, this cut scene plays

[01:25:09] and it gets halfway through the cut scene, freeze.

[01:25:13] And I would sit there out.

[01:25:16] Little kid, me would be like, I'd be waiting.

[01:25:17] I'd be like, is this part of the thing?

[01:25:20] Like how long do I fucking wait?

[01:25:23] And I'd wait like maybe 10 minutes.

[01:25:24] Did it corrupt your save file?

[01:25:27] It did not.

[01:25:28] Turns out there was I think there's just like a scratch

[01:25:31] or something, but every single time that cut scene plays

[01:25:34] would always freeze in the same spot

[01:25:36] so I could never progress.

[01:25:38] Never did be Final Fantasy eight.

[01:25:41] Oh, I have a similar sort of thing.

[01:25:44] So this went from like I know this went totally.

[01:25:48] I was trying to go back to some else,

[01:25:49] but you told the sob story real quick, real quick.

[01:25:52] So Lunar Lunar on Silver Lunar Silver Star,

[01:25:57] the Silver Star on Psycho City.

[01:26:00] So at the very, very end of the game, you are fighting the big bad.

[01:26:03] And then like when I was playing it,

[01:26:04] and this is a brand new video game, no scratches on it, nothing like that.

[01:26:09] In the middle of the battle, the music stops

[01:26:11] and then it like you can continue the battle with no music.

[01:26:14] And then at the end of the battle, it just freezes and nothing happens.

[01:26:18] And so I ended up finding out after several

[01:26:22] times trying to go through this and beating the multiple phases of this boss

[01:26:26] on that last phase when I opened up the Sega CD lid

[01:26:33] and then closed it again when the music turned off,

[01:26:36] it would then load the rest of the game.

[01:26:38] It was the weirdest.

[01:26:39] What? And thing, yeah, it was the weirdest fucking thing.

[01:26:41] I had to open it, pop the thing open

[01:26:44] and then close it again and then it would finish the game.

[01:26:47] It was the weirdest thing, but I did get to finish the game.

[01:26:49] So that is certified grade A baloney.

[01:26:53] Yes, so.

[01:26:56] So.

[01:26:56] Yeah, I have a mo's.

[01:26:58] I haven't played very many.

[01:27:01] I played a little bit.

[01:27:03] I have a deep take on this.

[01:27:04] So Aaron, take it away.

[01:27:05] Get yours out of the way.

[01:27:07] No, no, you go first.

[01:27:08] Oh, OK, so I got a I got a thing about MMOs

[01:27:11] and it's going to be pretty interesting.

[01:27:13] What is it? I've played.

[01:27:14] I mean, I played Destiny if you want to count that as an MMO,

[01:27:18] which I mean, it kind of is so fucking yeah, Destiny.

[01:27:22] I know there's people out there that make like one of every kind

[01:27:26] of character or make like multiple characters.

[01:27:28] I always stuck with the main one because like when I played with

[01:27:31] when I play MMOs, like I want to I want to be that character.

[01:27:34] Like I want to I'm going to be that character.

[01:27:36] Yes, I want to be the main character, right?

[01:27:38] Exactly.

[01:27:39] I would make the one character.

[01:27:42] That's the only character I would play.

[01:27:44] I wouldn't make any more characters.

[01:27:45] You see other people like, oh, I'm going to switch off

[01:27:47] to my my Titan or my Hunter.

[01:27:49] I'm going to switch to my alt.

[01:27:51] Fucking dumb, man.

[01:27:52] No, yeah, I would play make the one character

[01:27:54] and just max the fuck out of them and just go crazy.

[01:27:58] And then I think

[01:28:01] I don't think I've played many other MMOs

[01:28:04] unless you want to count like Diablo four as an MMO, but.

[01:28:08] I don't know.

[01:28:11] It's it's I don't think it's online.

[01:28:13] It's all like

[01:28:15] does not pass the certified test of being MMO.

[01:28:20] Get the fuck out of here, Aaron.

[01:28:22] My take is that, well, I mean, it's no secret.

[01:28:26] So my other podcast Super Ghost,

[01:28:28] we basically started this podcast because Greg, Beth and I spent nearly

[01:28:34] every single day together for hours a day

[01:28:38] playing Final Fantasy 14 online.

[01:28:40] And it was like a happy accident.

[01:28:41] We were just like, what's a game?

[01:28:44] All three of us could play together.

[01:28:45] We're three friends of friends that are bored.

[01:28:49] Let's play a game.

[01:28:50] And one of us suggested that game and we were like, oh, it's got a free fucking

[01:28:54] trial means install it and try it out.

[01:28:57] And then it was like.

[01:29:01] Hookline and sinker like we were fucked.

[01:29:04] And I'll say

[01:29:07] getting our legs, I guess, in the first part of that game,

[01:29:11] like a realm reborn.

[01:29:12] I was like, this is OK, I guess.

[01:29:14] Like I'm not really invested in that like a story or anything like it's just

[01:29:18] kind of fun doing like running dungeons with you guys and stuff and like glam

[01:29:22] and my dude out because here's the thing.

[01:29:25] When I started playing this game, I was like, oh, well,

[01:29:28] there's a lot of customization that you can do within the menus.

[01:29:31] And I was like, I'm just going to make this look like a single player game.

[01:29:34] I don't want the fucking visual diarrhea of MMO screen.

[01:29:38] All the tags and shit.

[01:29:40] No, so I was like, fuck everybody in this world.

[01:29:43] I don't care about anybody else except for my friends.

[01:29:45] So like turn off every name tag other than my friends and like NPCs.

[01:29:50] And then I was like, OK, get all these hot key bullshit out of the way

[01:29:53] because I played with take a deep breath now.

[01:29:56] I played with a controller from start to finish.

[01:29:59] No keyboard and mouse.

[01:30:00] Hell yeah.

[01:30:00] And I customize the entire thing and it essentially ended up

[01:30:04] playing like fucking Xeno blade.

[01:30:08] And my approach to that MMO, the only MMO I've ever played

[01:30:15] and liked, I should say, because I have tried Wow.

[01:30:18] And I thought, no, thanks, I think I'm done.

[01:30:21] But Final Fantasy 14 was a different thing.

[01:30:24] Maybe it was because I came from being a Final Fantasy

[01:30:29] enjoyer previously, but there's something about that game

[01:30:33] that was just like, hey, you can play this however the fuck you want.

[01:30:35] And it kind of lets you do that.

[01:30:37] Like I was able to play that game like a single player game.

[01:30:40] And then occasionally in co-op with my friends.

[01:30:43] And then sometimes you get sucked in to the crazy fucking world.

[01:30:49] And they're like, hey, we're going to a party.

[01:30:51] And I'm like, what do you mean a party?

[01:30:52] And they're like, we're going to a party and we're going to go to dance.

[01:30:55] And I'm like, in real life.

[01:30:57] And they're like, no, in Final Fantasy meet me at these coordinates.

[01:31:01] And I'm like, what are we doing?

[01:31:04] And they're like, put on some good clothes.

[01:31:06] I'm like in real life.

[01:31:07] They're like in the fucking game.

[01:31:09] And I'm like, I don't have good clothes though.

[01:31:11] And they're like, hang on, let me lend you some Gil.

[01:31:13] And then I'm like, Greg, where'd you get all this Gil?

[01:31:15] He's like, don't worry about it.

[01:31:17] I sold the property.

[01:31:17] I'm like, what do you mean you sold the property?

[01:31:19] He's like, I got 14 million Gil.

[01:31:21] Like, don't worry about it.

[01:31:22] And he's buying me like expensive shirts and shit.

[01:31:24] And he's like, I am now your sugar daddy.

[01:31:26] And I'm like, OK, what's this party?

[01:31:28] What's the party we're going to?

[01:31:29] And we go to a meet them in the rain even.

[01:31:32] And like, it's like, oh, we're on a wait list.

[01:31:34] And they're like, no, it's not a game.

[01:31:36] We're going into dance with real people

[01:31:38] and we're going to hang out.

[01:31:39] And I swear to God, I swear to fucking God.

[01:31:42] I went into this fucking place and it was like,

[01:31:46] ass, ass, and like they're doing like fucking emotes

[01:31:50] and they're like fucking dancing to shit.

[01:31:52] And they're like, you're going to like talk to anybody?

[01:31:54] I was like, dude, what's happening here?

[01:31:57] And I was like, I don't know what I'm going to do.

[01:32:00] Here's what I'm going to do.

[01:32:01] I'm going to sell my body

[01:32:04] for our podcast.

[01:32:06] And I started going up and dancing with people

[01:32:09] and be like, what's up, man?

[01:32:10] You ever hear Super Ghost Radio?

[01:32:12] They're like, what the fuck are you talking about?

[01:32:14] And I'm like, yeah, man, it's like a podcast.

[01:32:16] Check out my podcast.

[01:32:17] What's up? And I just like leave.

[01:32:19] We and that was and then.

[01:32:22] But then the story of the game got really fucking good,

[01:32:25] like really, really fucking good.

[01:32:28] And we stopped dancing at these nightclubs with people.

[01:32:31] And that was the only social interaction that I had

[01:32:34] other than when they tried to get me to join an FC.

[01:32:37] And I was like, I don't really care about these people

[01:32:39] though that much. I don't know what the big deal is.

[01:32:41] And they were like, you know, who's really fucking nice?

[01:32:43] I was like, I don't really care.

[01:32:44] I'm playing the game on the main character. Fuck off.

[01:32:46] And that's how I played that game.

[01:32:47] I'm the main character. Get fucked.

[01:32:51] So I have been OK.

[01:32:53] I played one.

[01:32:54] Sorry, that was a long rant.

[01:32:55] No, no, I played one MMO.

[01:32:59] The Guild Wars, that was the one that I got into.

[01:33:01] OK. And I'll put more into that in a minute.

[01:33:05] But I play Guild Wars a lot.

[01:33:08] And then because I play Guild Wars,

[01:33:10] a bunch of people like my sister and other friends are like,

[01:33:14] you should play this other MMO that I play.

[01:33:16] And I tried to play it and like I bounced off

[01:33:18] of like every other fucking MMO I ever play

[01:33:21] except for Guild Wars, which was mine.

[01:33:23] So I got into Guild Wars because around that time,

[01:33:27] this like 2005 when that game first started

[01:33:32] and everybody was playing Wow.

[01:33:33] And I was like, wow, it's ugly and EverQuest is ugly.

[01:33:36] I don't want to play those games. They're stupid.

[01:33:38] Wow, it's ugly too.

[01:33:39] They're ugly. I don't want to play it.

[01:33:40] So but then Guild Wars was pretty

[01:33:42] and it also was not like a subscription service.

[01:33:45] You could just buy the game and play the game and that's it.

[01:33:48] And I was like, that's awesome. Great.

[01:33:50] Oh, really? Yes.

[01:33:51] It was it was fucking cool.

[01:33:52] It was one of the first ones that did that where you can just have a free

[01:33:55] then like you buy the game and then you own the game

[01:33:57] and you can play it on the server without having to pay a subscription.

[01:34:01] So I went around in there and it was beautiful, beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

[01:34:06] So I would explore all over the place

[01:34:09] and end up in all these cool picturesque places

[01:34:11] and take a bunch of screenshots and stuff like that too.

[01:34:14] And everybody did this to the point that like in Guild Wars,

[01:34:17] too, when they made the sequel MMO,

[01:34:19] they ended up making points of interest, a thing

[01:34:22] where like it's on your map and you can complete them to get like special prizes

[01:34:25] and stuff to go to these places to see these scenic,

[01:34:28] you know, views that they have arranged for you.

[01:34:32] But the way that I the thing I like about that game in particular is that

[01:34:37] it has a much more minimal.

[01:34:39] It's not like all the garbage that you're talking about,

[01:34:40] like the visual diarrhea that you've got of like an MMO, right?

[01:34:44] Like you've got eight hotkeys with your spells

[01:34:47] that you have set up for this particular run

[01:34:49] that you're doing on this instanced map that you're going into.

[01:34:54] And so like you get to pick those skills

[01:34:57] and go on about your business and you just have those eight skills.

[01:35:00] Nice and easy, nice and clean.

[01:35:03] And you had like your primary class

[01:35:05] and I was an elementalist, which is your mage type character.

[01:35:09] And you could also pick a secondary class

[01:35:11] and at a certain point in the game, you could alter,

[01:35:13] like switch that secondary class out regularly.

[01:35:16] So depending on the situation,

[01:35:17] I might do different combinations of elementalists

[01:35:20] with monk skills if I needed some healing or elementalists

[01:35:23] with necromancer, if I wanted to be a minion master or something.

[01:35:28] And the thing that I ended up doing with my character,

[01:35:31] the reason why I liked it is because

[01:35:32] then the nickname for Guild Wars was build wars

[01:35:35] because coming up with a build, a unique build

[01:35:39] that had like, you know,

[01:35:43] efficacy and would do all different kinds

[01:35:46] of like neat things and fulfill certain roles

[01:35:49] was like the name of the game and like trying to refine those eight

[01:35:52] skills on your limited bar and your equipment and stuff

[01:35:56] accordingly, so you could play at like a higher level.

[01:35:59] And they had PVP and stuff, but I never played any of that.

[01:36:02] It was always just the environmental play.

[01:36:04] I ended up in a guild, of course.

[01:36:07] My favorite build like you do with a Guild Wars game,

[01:36:10] you never choose to do that, right?

[01:36:12] It's always like you just end up.

[01:36:14] Well, it's like now I'm in a guild.

[01:36:16] Well, and the thing is, is that like I talk to people,

[01:36:19] I talk to people all the time, regularly, just random people.

[01:36:23] And so like in the game, I would talk to people

[01:36:24] and I would maybe run a mission with them.

[01:36:26] And then we would start to actually run multiple missions together

[01:36:29] and then see each other online and then get to know each other.

[01:36:32] And then suddenly we're in a guild.

[01:36:33] So but anyway, my favorite build was an elementalist assassin.

[01:36:39] And what I did so basically elementalists,

[01:36:42] most people who played elementalists played fire elementalists

[01:36:45] because that is their big AOEs, right?

[01:36:48] You know, like massive damage, highest damage and stuff.

[01:36:51] I played a Geomancer, which is high, high damage,

[01:36:56] but to specific targets more often than not.

[01:36:59] But also it would slow your character down to a crawl.

[01:37:02] But the assassin had a bunch of teleporting skills.

[01:37:05] So I would teleport myself in, do like a big, massive damage

[01:37:09] earthquake spell or something to everything around me

[01:37:12] and then warp out and stuff like that.

[01:37:14] And nobody had seen anything like that when I was playing this game.

[01:37:17] So I was like the unique and special snowflake out there

[01:37:20] in the universe of Guild Wars playing this game.

[01:37:23] But I played so many hours.

[01:37:26] Have you tried Final Fantasy 14?

[01:37:28] I have not time being a limited thing that it is.

[01:37:32] And with assignment play and everything,

[01:37:34] I cannot afford to do even a try at something like an ammo right now.

[01:37:40] I was trying to clue up because I swear to God,

[01:37:44] we played this fucking game like I played that game

[01:37:46] exclusively for basically a year.

[01:37:49] Like because, I mean, by the time we got into it in what was that?

[01:37:53] Twenty twenty twenty one or something.

[01:37:55] By the time we got into it, I mean, the it was.

[01:37:59] Donning on the last part of the whole main story,

[01:38:03] like it had been out for fucking 10 or 11 years.

[01:38:05] And like it was coming to this insane

[01:38:09] like resolution of this crazy story.

[01:38:12] So like when we started playing it,

[01:38:13] like once we got through the first thing,

[01:38:15] which was kind of like pretty vanilla.

[01:38:17] But then like you get into this the fucking second

[01:38:20] like expansion and you're like, wait a second.

[01:38:23] Nobody told me that this is like a good fucking Final Fantasy game.

[01:38:27] Like nobody told me that it's like well written and shit.

[01:38:30] And then like the more it went on, I was like, wait,

[01:38:33] are these some of the best Final Fantasy games out now?

[01:38:36] Like what the fuck is going on here?

[01:38:37] And like we couldn't stop.

[01:38:39] It was crazy.

[01:38:40] Like I felt bad because I'm addicted to fucking beating games.

[01:38:44] And I was not beating games.

[01:38:47] I was just beating expansions in Final Fantasy

[01:38:50] but like over the course of like fucking months.

[01:38:53] And yeah, like when this thing ended,

[01:38:57] like when we finished Endwalker, which by the way, holy fuck.

[01:39:01] We finished Endwalker and I was like, all right,

[01:39:05] I'm done with I'm I'm clean slate.

[01:39:07] And they were like, oh, Jerry, it doesn't end.

[01:39:10] It's an MMO never ends.

[01:39:11] I was like, no, I ended for me.

[01:39:12] That was like a nice little bow.

[01:39:14] And they were like, no, it never ends.

[01:39:15] It's going to be more.

[01:39:16] And I'm like, yeah, but I don't care.

[01:39:18] So I said I didn't care.

[01:39:20] But then I started to care and I started to play like the

[01:39:22] like the because there's always like a part

[01:39:26] like a last part to like the main expansion.

[01:39:30] So I was trying to clue that up because they were like, man,

[01:39:32] Don trail is coming out fucking start your engines.

[01:39:36] And I was like, all right.

[01:39:39] Fear of missing out has hit me real bad.

[01:39:42] But then like as soon as it came around time, I was like,

[01:39:44] I don't care.

[01:39:46] I like I want to but I don't because like you said,

[01:39:50] it's just like there's no fucking time.

[01:39:53] I don't I want to beat other fucking games.

[01:39:56] Like I just can't focus on the even though like, yeah, sure.

[01:40:00] It probably only take them a amount of time that a normal RPG would.

[01:40:04] But then you end up at dance clubs and Greg's buying new shirts.

[01:40:10] And it's like, well, here we go again.

[01:40:13] So so right when Guild Wars two was being like in beta testing

[01:40:17] and stuff like that, I was actually part of the Guild Wars Insider Group,

[01:40:21] which was like a news outlet that had stuff just about Guild Wars.

[01:40:25] And I was like their moderator for their community and I was part of their guild.

[01:40:29] And so I was in the beta doing like writing up stuff for, you know,

[01:40:34] like the articles and everything.

[01:40:35] And like I was obviously like really involved in this community and everything.

[01:40:39] And I played Guild Wars two, but I never liked it nearly as much as I like the first one.

[01:40:43] And so like I got through, you know, the whole main first one

[01:40:47] and the first DLC or something, you know, like first expansion rather.

[01:40:50] And then like at some point I'm just like, and then people are like,

[01:40:54] oh, but now they have mounts and they have gliders and they have X, Y and Z.

[01:40:57] And I'm like, I mean, like if I load it up, I'm just going to be like,

[01:41:02] I'm kind of over what's going on here.

[01:41:04] I actually really was thinking about because they still have the servers

[01:41:07] up for Guild Wars the original.

[01:41:09] I'm really thinking about going back to that.

[01:41:11] That's surprising.

[01:41:12] Holy shit.

[01:41:13] And see, this is why I've been looking for bite size RPGs lately.

[01:41:17] That's why I went after Dragon Quest one because I was like, it's nine hours.

[01:41:21] It's nine hours.

[01:41:22] Nine hours.

[01:41:22] Golden sun.

[01:41:23] Nine hours, nine persons, nine doors anyway.

[01:41:26] Good ass game, by the way.

[01:41:29] Have either of you dabbled in MOBAs at all?

[01:41:31] No, I was made to play by a person who

[01:41:36] enjoys the level like listener of the level who was like, oh, oh, Jala, Jala,

[01:41:42] you've got to play a MOBA with me.

[01:41:43] And I'm like, OK.

[01:41:45] Which one?

[01:41:46] No, I never stuck.

[01:41:47] So sorry.

[01:41:49] But tell us your MOBA story anyway.

[01:41:51] Oh my gosh, so for I want to say like a good span of like three years,

[01:41:59] I would play Smite like almost every night, like almost every single night.

[01:42:06] Me and my brother-in-law and like maybe some other friends,

[01:42:09] we would all get together and we played some Smite probably just

[01:42:12] because it's the first one that really came to consoles.

[01:42:16] But and it was cross play, too.

[01:42:18] It was the one game because like my brother-in-law is on PS4.

[01:42:21] It's the first game we could all play together.

[01:42:23] But where I'm really good with this is like when I play a MOBA again,

[01:42:27] just like with fighting games and shit, I always pick the characters

[01:42:30] that like that nobody else really plays.

[01:42:32] Then yeah, Smite and Pokemon Unite.

[01:42:35] That's another one that I was addicted to for a little while there,

[01:42:38] which like Pokemon Unite probably isn't as in-depth

[01:42:42] as Smite, but it was still pretty fucking fun.

[01:42:44] You can play on your phone also for free.

[01:42:46] It's pretty great. Cool.

[01:42:48] Cool. So I have a story about Metal Gear.

[01:42:52] So my first Metal Gear game was Metal Gear Solid 3.

[01:42:58] And I was not the one who was playing it originally.

[01:43:01] It was the boyfriend that I had at the time.

[01:43:03] And he would get up and have to like go do other stuff or whatever,

[01:43:07] like go take care of something like chores or something.

[01:43:10] But he would leave the game running.

[01:43:11] And so I would just pick it up because I got bored waiting.

[01:43:15] And I would just start fucking around with the camo

[01:43:17] and then like sneaking through the grass and like picking up,

[01:43:19] like killing all of the animals, collecting critters for him.

[01:43:22] So like he has all this stuff to eat.

[01:43:24] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:43:25] So it was like this whole thing where I was doing that.

[01:43:28] And then it was also like my first Resident Evil game

[01:43:31] was Resident Evil 4. Same situation like he would get up and leave.

[01:43:35] And then I would be sitting there fucking with his controller.

[01:43:37] And so like, you know, I had him get eaten by the Lake Monster

[01:43:41] because I was shooting fish and you shoot the fish enough

[01:43:47] in the original Resident Evil 4 game with before you go

[01:43:52] and encounter the Lake Monster and the Lake Monster will come out and eat you.

[01:43:55] So that happened.

[01:43:57] But also I would just like go beat the QTEs for him

[01:44:01] because he was having a trouble with the QTEs.

[01:44:03] So it was this whole thing.

[01:44:05] So my first acquaintanceship with both of those two series

[01:44:09] was something weird, but when what was it?

[01:44:12] What the hell was it called?

[01:44:14] The final, no, not the final.

[01:44:16] The Metal Gear Solid 5.

[01:44:19] Something Phantom Phantom Pay.

[01:44:22] The the preview.

[01:44:24] Yes, that guy.

[01:44:25] Yeah. So I played Ground Zeroes and just in that little

[01:44:28] ADB preview, you know, you know how I said I would do a thing

[01:44:31] and then I go AWOL.

[01:44:32] I love sniping things until I see too many targets

[01:44:36] and then I go AWOL.

[01:44:37] And so like I was behaving and sniping things

[01:44:40] and admiring snakes shapely ass until such a point as I.

[01:44:45] Good cake.

[01:44:46] Decided to murder everyone and then steal a tank.

[01:44:49] And then I got very upset because like I got in the tank

[01:44:52] and I was going through the whole place.

[01:44:55] And then I was trying to leave so I could, you know, like escape.

[01:44:58] But then, you know, I got blocked, cock-blocked by like,

[01:45:01] you know, the invisible barriers because it's just like only a

[01:45:03] certain amount of area.

[01:45:06] And so my husband's response when I told him about all of this

[01:45:10] was, well, it's a good fucking thing.

[01:45:12] You didn't play the actual Metal Gear 5 because if you did,

[01:45:16] then you would just fuck off into the desert and never be seen again.

[01:45:19] And I'm like, I know because don't give me an open world.

[01:45:22] I will never finish it.

[01:45:24] So back to that.

[01:45:26] But Sniper Elite.

[01:45:27] Sniper Elite is kind of a similar situation.

[01:45:29] I will crawl around.

[01:45:31] I love Sniper Elite games.

[01:45:33] They're very fun to me.

[01:45:34] I broke the Sniper Elite 2 the first time I played it because like

[01:45:37] in the tutorial, you're supposed to just go forward through the

[01:45:41] tutorial, but I went backwards because I was curious to see if

[01:45:44] anything changed back there.

[01:45:45] And then I fell through the scenery and broke the game

[01:45:49] in the tutorial before I even got to the first level.

[01:45:53] And yeah, so like I will go through Sniper Elite games

[01:45:56] and I will just snipe the shit out of things until such

[01:45:58] a point as there are too many tempting targets.

[01:46:01] Then I will start blowing things up and then running

[01:46:03] and stealing tanks and doing anything else.

[01:46:06] I actually, at one point, there is in Sniper 4,

[01:46:09] there is one point where you your mission is to kill Hitler

[01:46:13] and you can get a real clear shot of.

[01:46:15] Snipe him in the dick.

[01:46:16] Yeah. Well, so so like

[01:46:20] I've like there is a point early in that level

[01:46:22] where you can get a clear shot of Hitler.

[01:46:25] So I took it and I shot him.

[01:46:27] But the game was expecting you to shoot him after he,

[01:46:30] you know, after sneaking in to do with all this other shit.

[01:46:34] But I had hit him from like way the hell far away and, you know,

[01:46:37] killed him in one hit.

[01:46:39] So I had to like I thought I oh, I can just back up

[01:46:43] to the extraction point and be done with this level in like two seconds.

[01:46:46] But no, the extraction point was on the other side of all of the shit.

[01:46:49] So everybody was on high alert because Hitler got killed

[01:46:52] and I had to go through this whole everybody's on high alert compound.

[01:46:57] And it was real interesting and stressful

[01:47:00] because I decided to go and shoot him early

[01:47:04] instead of being patient like a sniper is supposed to be doing.

[01:47:09] It always sucks when you go to shoot Hitler and everything goes on high alert.

[01:47:13] Right.

[01:47:14] Why didn't want him to go into his little like secret locker room or whatever.

[01:47:17] Fuck that.

[01:47:18] Hitler's little crack then.

[01:47:19] Yeah.

[01:47:19] This is German.

[01:47:20] Is German shepherd crack then?

[01:47:24] You guys play shooters at all?

[01:47:28] Yeah, I like a boomer shooter, though.

[01:47:31] I really like that.

[01:47:32] I actually recently threw on that Doom 2

[01:47:35] like one and two remake that came out that nightdive did.

[01:47:40] Fuck is that game?

[01:47:41] Fuck hard.

[01:47:42] Holy shit.

[01:47:43] Like I've played Doom one and two like actually, I haven't played a lot of Doom

[01:47:46] two. I remember vaguely playing it like way back in the day.

[01:47:50] But yeah, they updated like the music and shit in it.

[01:47:53] And then like you get the steam version, you can like extract

[01:47:57] the fucking the music from that and put like different music in.

[01:48:02] And like you can also do like the great tracing mod and shit.

[01:48:05] And it looks fucking awesome.

[01:48:07] But like I don't mind like I like a third person sure for sure.

[01:48:11] Like but I'm like a very specific type.

[01:48:16] So to keep in line with the episode theme, my approach to a third person shooter is

[01:48:21] like is there an approach to a third person shooter?

[01:48:25] Like I feel like it's just like just do the thing.

[01:48:28] You just go do the thing like on chartered.

[01:48:31] It's like soft puzzles Indiana like fucking do.

[01:48:35] OK, well, so so how about any game that has a stealth component?

[01:48:41] It could be a third person shooter that has a stuff because like see dishonored.

[01:48:45] How do you play dishonored?

[01:48:47] You know, like that's a good one because dishonored is very like open to

[01:48:51] hey, what do you want to do here?

[01:48:52] You want to fuck everybody up or do you want to like sneak around tip toe?

[01:48:56] Yeah, like if there's a game that gives you the option of either

[01:48:59] going in guns blazing or like stealthing around like that, day sex.

[01:49:05] Hell, even like even like fallout and shit.

[01:49:08] If you want to sneak your way through that,

[01:49:10] would you rather bank bank gun shooting guy or would you rather sneak around

[01:49:15] and like avoid all of that shit?

[01:49:17] I'm like a in between.

[01:49:19] I'll try sneaking and the second I'm caught because I know like Greg,

[01:49:23] my co-host, he's the second he is caught.

[01:49:25] He's like we're restarting the mission.

[01:49:27] And I'm like why?

[01:49:28] And he's like, no, there is no room for air.

[01:49:31] And I'm like, all right, dude, fuck.

[01:49:33] I am the kind of person that I'm like, let me try to sneak it around.

[01:49:37] And the second that I'm like, go to a slash at somebody and I'm like

[01:49:40] two frames too far away from them.

[01:49:42] And they're like, what was that?

[01:49:44] And they turn around.

[01:49:44] I'm like, well, guess I'm compromised.

[01:49:47] Just started on loading clips.

[01:49:51] I don't typically like, stealthing things though.

[01:49:55] So like with Dishonored, I was stealthy to a point,

[01:49:59] but I was also more not stealthing, but outsmarting.

[01:50:04] So like, I would take ways that I'd be like,

[01:50:05] I don't lure this guy out, but I'm also going to fucking shit up

[01:50:08] as soon as he walks outside of this door.

[01:50:10] Like and then throw his body over a fucking ravine or something.

[01:50:14] I was never like the kind of guy that's like,

[01:50:16] I will be part of the shadows and just like sneak around and never get caught.

[01:50:21] Because you're Noruto running through the shadows.

[01:50:23] Yeah, doing the fucking the backwards arms and shit.

[01:50:27] For some reason, like there's certain stealth games that I do enjoy.

[01:50:31] But for the most part, I find them kind of boring.

[01:50:34] Like when I have to sneak around because it's like, where's the action?

[01:50:37] It's just like puzzle game.

[01:50:39] Here's the thing with Dishonored.

[01:50:41] Dishonored is like you should be sneaky,

[01:50:43] but then they give you all of these cool things to blow people up and stuff.

[01:50:47] And there's like a lot of them, you know, and it's like,

[01:50:50] be sneaky and don't kill people.

[01:50:52] But here's a lot of really cool ways to kill people if you really want to do that.

[01:50:56] And, you know, to me as much as the people levy that as a criticism against that game,

[01:51:01] like I feel that that's more like encouraging replay, right?

[01:51:05] So you've already done a good route on your first one where you're sneaking more

[01:51:08] or whatever and then the next time then you can be total chaos and blow everybody up

[01:51:12] and have fun with all the toys.

[01:51:13] Or what I would do is, you know, so in Dishonored, I love exploring.

[01:51:19] I love traversal. You give me good traversal.

[01:51:21] I will play your game and I will play the shit out of it.

[01:51:23] So in Dishonored, I will go through the level.

[01:51:25] I will go explore everything.

[01:51:26] And then as soon as I get to the next part that changed, you know,

[01:51:29] goes to the next part of the mission, I will turn around and then find the other

[01:51:33] way to get through the level and then backtrack and go learn both routes.

[01:51:38] And so like I was in that game double the time everybody else was because

[01:51:41] I was having fun going and seeing all the different ways I could go

[01:51:44] in testing where they would let me go to and things like that.

[01:51:48] And whenever I felt like I really wanted to kill shit,

[01:51:50] I would save the game and then blow everyone up and then maybe blow them

[01:51:54] up, you know, get that out of my system and then reload my game

[01:51:58] and move forward and just go from there.

[01:52:01] Dishonored was really good about that, though.

[01:52:03] Like I feel like that was one of the first games that I remember being like

[01:52:06] you really kind of can do whatever the fuck you want in this game.

[01:52:10] You know, you can go through the game without killing pretty much anybody.

[01:52:13] Anybody. Yeah.

[01:52:14] I think it's just the bosses that you have to kill.

[01:52:15] Isn't it? No, you don't even have to kill those.

[01:52:17] You can not leave everyone.

[01:52:19] Every single person. Yeah.

[01:52:20] You can non-lethal the entire game.

[01:52:22] I did a deep dive on the entire IP on my show.

[01:52:26] So there's six hours, two episodes, six hours.

[01:52:30] And if you count the bonus episode, a seventh hour of dishonored talk.

[01:52:34] So I love that game.

[01:52:36] You know, I've never played Dishonored 2.

[01:52:38] Oh, well, that's on her too is really good.

[01:52:40] And I've heard that the DLC for that is fucking awesome.

[01:52:43] So here's what I'll say about Dishonored 1 and Dishonored 2

[01:52:47] and then also the third one, which is not really the third one,

[01:52:51] the death of the outsider, which is it's kind of like three,

[01:52:55] but not really because it's like the size of a DLC,

[01:52:58] but it was released as a separate thing.

[01:53:01] Anyway, first dishonored is kind of like a steady state

[01:53:05] of stuff being pretty cool, you know, like pretty dark and pretty cool.

[01:53:10] And like the consistency, there's a lot of consistency

[01:53:12] to like the quality of what you're seeing.

[01:53:14] And Dishonored 2, there's some super high highs,

[01:53:18] but there's also a lot of like uninspired bits here and there

[01:53:20] that you go through as well.

[01:53:22] So it's kind of more of a roller coaster where it's like,

[01:53:24] this is really, really fucking cool and memorable and awesome.

[01:53:27] But then there's other stuff that you're just like, oh,

[01:53:29] I totally don't remember that at all.

[01:53:31] Like, you know, when you go back to it later.

[01:53:34] And then death of the outsider is kind of like primarily story driven,

[01:53:38] but it's trying to kind of give you slightly different move sets

[01:53:42] and put you into circumstances that are similar to things

[01:53:46] that you've done in the prior games.

[01:53:47] So it's like if you like what the first couple of games are doing,

[01:53:51] then you will like death of the outsider,

[01:53:53] but it's not going to present anything new and exciting.

[01:53:57] But if you like Dishonored 1

[01:53:58] and you haven't played Dishonored 2, you should play Dishonored 2

[01:54:01] at least until you get to the Clockwork Mansion.

[01:54:04] I heard that that thing is fucking crazy.

[01:54:07] So worth it, worth it.

[01:54:10] Hell yeah. So anyway, yeah.

[01:54:12] So here's a weird deep cut for all y'all.

[01:54:14] There's a game on the three 16 PS3 called Alpha Protocol.

[01:54:18] Oh, that's a good game.

[01:54:19] Yeah, it's good.

[01:54:21] But it's like kind of janky sometimes, but like.

[01:54:25] Oh, it's real janky.

[01:54:26] It's still a good game.

[01:54:28] Just like Dishonored, yeah, you can go through the game

[01:54:30] however you want, although in Alpha Protocol,

[01:54:33] there are bosses that you have to kill.

[01:54:35] You can't do non-lethal for sure.

[01:54:37] But there's parts in like the little hub areas

[01:54:40] before you go to a mission.

[01:54:41] You can like you can pay to have someone's

[01:54:44] like sabotage something in the next level

[01:54:47] or have them send something that you can go pick up

[01:54:49] in the next level kind of like hitman, but that's also

[01:54:52] in Dishonored too.

[01:54:53] Yeah, and fucking and you can unlock

[01:54:56] cool different dumb skills and.

[01:55:00] I think there's like different trees for like

[01:55:03] or different skill trees, different skills for like

[01:55:06] if you want to go be like like an offensive assault guy

[01:55:09] or stealthy stealth boy or I think the other one was like

[01:55:12] I think you can go like a techie route where you've hacked shit

[01:55:15] and stuff like that.

[01:55:16] But in those kinds of games, if there is stealth,

[01:55:19] just like Jerry, I'll try to stealth if I get caught.

[01:55:23] But blasted.

[01:55:24] Yeah, so anyways, I started blasting.

[01:55:28] You know, I don't know what this episode turned into,

[01:55:32] but I really like it.

[01:55:33] Well, I do have like a couple of other instances of like,

[01:55:36] say there's there's some it's not an endless runner.

[01:55:39] It's an endless flyer.

[01:55:42] Airy Sky Castle.

[01:55:44] I don't know, I play random things sometimes,

[01:55:46] especially if they're indie games that are short.

[01:55:49] So in this one, you play as like a wizard

[01:55:51] that's turned into a bird that's trying to collect

[01:55:53] some kind of shit to save the world.

[01:55:56] I don't know.

[01:55:56] Anyway, it's like an endless flyer.

[01:55:58] You're a bird flying around.

[01:55:59] You got to collect things.

[01:56:00] So OK, cool, whatever.

[01:56:02] There was this one tunnel that I went down

[01:56:04] and I saw this little hole and I was like,

[01:56:07] oh, I wonder if that's a secret place.

[01:56:09] I've got to go there.

[01:56:10] So I kept on trying and trying and trying until I got through

[01:56:13] that little hole and I broke the game.

[01:56:16] I went outside the geometry.

[01:56:18] I was outside the level and I had found the one hole

[01:56:21] in the level and flew out and then I couldn't get back in.

[01:56:26] So the propensity for me to break a game is pretty high.

[01:56:30] I probably should be in, you know, quality control

[01:56:32] for video games for that reason.

[01:56:35] I did that kind of thing with the game.

[01:56:38] I think it's pronounced Jussant.

[01:56:41] Jussant, I don't know how it's pronounced.

[01:56:43] It's that weird like rock climbing game

[01:56:45] where you're just climbing up the hills, the mountains and shit.

[01:56:49] Immediately right at the start, I was like, dude,

[01:56:51] these controls are fucking bonkers.

[01:56:53] I want to see if I can kill myself by just jumping off.

[01:56:57] They know I got I got wildly stuck to the side of a cliff.

[01:57:00] If there's any game that lets me like jump off

[01:57:03] of a really high area, I'm going to do it at least once

[01:57:05] or twice just for the fuck of it.

[01:57:08] Oh my God, Aaron, write this down.

[01:57:10] Episode idea best game glitches.

[01:57:14] Oh, where's my fucking phone?

[01:57:18] Because this is like I love how this this is like the most

[01:57:21] freeform episode I think we've ever done because it started

[01:57:24] as one thing and then kind of morphed into something else.

[01:57:26] We're still wrapping it back around though.

[01:57:29] It's still I love it though.

[01:57:30] I fucking love it.

[01:57:31] I love when it's like let's let's do this topic

[01:57:33] and it's like by the end of the episode is like so tacos are fucking crazy, bro.

[01:57:39] well, I do have another one.

[01:57:41] Have either of you played a planescape torment

[01:57:43] and I'm not talking torment, Tides of Numenera.

[01:57:45] I mean, the old one.

[01:57:47] I haven't heard of it.

[01:57:49] I haven't been yelled at to play this game.

[01:57:51] It's so fucking is one of my favorite games of all time.

[01:57:54] So top five, top five.

[01:57:56] Yeah. Top three.

[01:57:59] That's hard.

[01:58:00] I'd have to think about it and reflect back

[01:58:02] on what I would list as my top names to tell you.

[01:58:05] It's like, I don't actually have a list in my head right off the top.

[01:58:08] I just love pressuring people like that.

[01:58:10] Like top 10.

[01:58:11] They're like, oh, yeah, top 10.

[01:58:12] Top five.

[01:58:13] Oh, yeah, top five.

[01:58:14] Top three.

[01:58:14] And they're like, I don't know.

[01:58:16] I would I would say like for games

[01:58:18] that are really, really interesting,

[01:58:19] that do some fun stuff.

[01:58:20] I would probably say that yeah, it is in the top three

[01:58:23] for ones that are doing unique things.

[01:58:25] I mean, even even the fact that you easily said it was top five.

[01:58:28] Yeah, like so the thing about this game or fucking with something good here,

[01:58:31] really fucking good writing.

[01:58:33] And not only that, but like OK, so so combat in the old version is rough.

[01:58:37] I know that they made a remaster version.

[01:58:39] I have not played that because I have a copy of it on Switch.

[01:58:43] And you know, like to play on a screen this small is just

[01:58:46] tiny ass text is not a thing I'm into.

[01:58:49] So I have not played the remastered version,

[01:58:51] but from the original version was it on PS one?

[01:58:55] It was on PC.

[01:58:56] I feel like it was on PC.

[01:58:57] I don't think it was on PS.

[01:58:58] It might be. I don't know.

[01:58:59] I had no idea.

[01:59:00] But anyway, I played the PC version.

[01:59:04] So either way, in this game,

[01:59:07] it has lots and lots of really, really good writing

[01:59:10] and you know, like the graphics and stuff are of its age

[01:59:14] and all of that kind of thing.

[01:59:15] But the role playing options are out of this world.

[01:59:19] And to the point where you can get to the end boss

[01:59:25] and not fight the end boss,

[01:59:27] you can role play your way out of that scenario.

[01:59:31] And you can talk to them and you can pick options and stuff.

[01:59:35] So like the secret of that game is that none of your other stats

[01:59:39] really matter as much as like your charisma for your options.

[01:59:43] You know, like your talking options and stuff.

[01:59:46] So, you know, but yeah, your role playing stats,

[01:59:49] like the higher your charisma or, you know, like your stats

[01:59:52] that allow you to do more role playing things,

[01:59:55] the better off you are for like a rich experience in that game.

[02:00:00] And let your companions do all the fighting and the actual fights.

[02:00:04] Like you're fine, just make your character able to do the talking

[02:00:08] because all of those options, like you would love to see all of that.

[02:00:13] And I played Torment Tides of Numenera as well.

[02:00:17] That one is also really good, but it is not Plainscape Torment.

[02:00:22] Plainscape Torment is still better in my opinion.

[02:00:23] So. But yeah, in that game, I definitely did

[02:00:28] a mixture of role playing my way out of situations

[02:00:33] and then in some instances and then other instances I'm like,

[02:00:37] but I feel like I hate you and I want to kill you.

[02:00:39] So I'm going to kill you now.

[02:00:41] So I do that and shit like fallout and oblivion and stuff.

[02:00:47] They forgot to the point where I couldn't talk my way out of things

[02:00:49] or like if my like my science skill was too low or something,

[02:00:52] I'd be like, all right, well, I guess you're fucking dead.

[02:00:55] Yeah, see, like the thing about Torment

[02:00:58] is that like the role playing options that you have are far more in depth.

[02:01:02] Like you wouldn't see role playing options like that even

[02:01:06] even with Baldur's Gate 3, I don't know.

[02:01:08] Like the Baldur's Gate 3 is a far more expensive game

[02:01:10] because it's far newer and has, you know, more capability.

[02:01:14] But like insofar as like your actual options are concerned,

[02:01:18] like Torment has like a unique in depth,

[02:01:23] you know, like plethora of things you can do.

[02:01:27] So yeah. Oh, yeah.

[02:01:29] We're creepy. We're we're past two hours.

[02:01:32] You're like, now let's stop now. We're done.

[02:01:36] Aaron, can I get off the ride now, please?

[02:01:40] Anything else anybody wants to

[02:01:42] wants to hand out to all the others

[02:01:44] before we wrap this here thing up?

[02:01:46] No, I think those are all the ones that I really, really wanted to mention.

[02:01:48] Let me look through my list real quick.

[02:01:50] Yeah, that was the ones I wanted to talk about.

[02:01:53] One last one. I want to get out of the way.

[02:01:56] Slap this one.

[02:01:57] Yeah, games that that like that give you the out.

[02:02:00] So I guess I can't really explain it without

[02:02:04] so Pokemon, Scarlet and Violet, trash games.

[02:02:07] They just they don't work most of the time.

[02:02:09] I mean, like, yeah, yeah, they they when they work,

[02:02:13] they're fine.

[02:02:15] Most of the time they look like shit and they play like shit.

[02:02:17] But anyway, yeah, so you can go do like this storyline

[02:02:20] or this storyline or this storyline.

[02:02:22] But when you do beat those ones, you unlock new abilities.

[02:02:25] So I went around, unlocked all the abilities first

[02:02:27] so I could explore everywhere and then I went and beat the game.

[02:02:30] And then yeah, games that let you do that,

[02:02:33] like go and collect abilities and then continue the story.

[02:02:37] Like games like that.

[02:02:39] I'll go around, collect all the abilities, explore as much as possible

[02:02:43] and then beat the game and then be done with it.

[02:02:45] Like say Steam World Dig 2.

[02:02:47] I did that as well, just that everything got the jet pack,

[02:02:51] explored all that I possibly could and then beat the game.

[02:02:54] And I was like, cool, guess I'll zip it up and be on my way.

[02:02:58] Yeah, so like when I go into a game, I prioritize.

[02:03:02] I love narrative and characters,

[02:03:04] but it has to be like a story rich game for that to be pertinent.

[02:03:08] Like I also appreciate games that don't have a damn story.

[02:03:11] It's fine.

[02:03:13] But if they are narrative, you know, narrative heavy or whatever,

[02:03:16] I like the characters.

[02:03:17] I like the story.

[02:03:18] That'll be what gets me invested in it.

[02:03:20] If it doesn't have that, I want traversal.

[02:03:22] Give me traversal, fun traversal.

[02:03:24] Give me exploration.

[02:03:25] Let me go places and do things.

[02:03:27] You know, those are things that I like to do a lot.

[02:03:31] So those are those are probably my top priorities.

[02:03:35] How about y'all?

[02:03:35] I think so too.

[02:03:37] Yeah, like if a game does have fun traversal,

[02:03:40] I'll probably stick with that.

[02:03:41] Like the or in the Blind Forest, for the most part,

[02:03:44] for me, the sequel doesn't even exist.

[02:03:46] I've played like maybe an hour or two of Ori and the Wild, the Wyss,

[02:03:49] but didn't care for it.

[02:03:51] The first one, the traversal is great.

[02:03:53] I love just zipping through the game.

[02:03:55] Just fucking like just completely ignoring the enemies

[02:03:58] because it's just so fun to just zip and dodge around them and shit.

[02:04:02] And especially if I played a game more than once,

[02:04:05] maybe it's my my first time playing through a game.

[02:04:08] Like sometimes I'll pay attention to the story,

[02:04:10] but most of the times it's like, I just want to I just want to play.

[02:04:13] Let me let me fucking play and then I'll just zip and zoop around.

[02:04:15] For me, it's a lot of rewarding exploration.

[02:04:21] Like not just exploration for the sense of being like

[02:04:24] you went in that cave and found a fucking stick with a rock attached to it.

[02:04:27] That's pretty cool, huh?

[02:04:28] Like I like it when you will find something like a nook or cranny

[02:04:32] that you are like, hey, wait, can I can I go in here?

[02:04:35] Can I do that? Oh, wait, there's a oh god, there's a whole area back here.

[02:04:38] And then you're like, oh, there's a fucking optional boss.

[02:04:40] And it's like, oh, I got a crazy weapon or something out of this.

[02:04:43] And then it's like all like when a game adds stuff like that.

[02:04:49] And let me tell you,

[02:04:51] let me be the first to tell you guys, Wukong is doing this.

[02:04:56] I'm telling you, I'm not being paid by the fucking Chinese government

[02:05:00] and I swear to God, like it's doing the thing.

[02:05:04] Like it's it's doing the thing that I've been wanting things to do.

[02:05:09] And, you know, I mean, Elden Ring is like

[02:05:13] probably the case study for this for me.

[02:05:16] It's just like, you know, I did get a sense of like,

[02:05:20] oh, what's that thing over there?

[02:05:21] Like there's a sense of discovery and the Zelda like the modern Zelda games.

[02:05:25] But with Elden Ring, like every part of Elden Ring

[02:05:29] kind of felt handcrafted to the point where it's like,

[02:05:32] what is that place?

[02:05:33] And then you go to it and there's always something.

[02:05:36] And I have to also say that as somebody who has

[02:05:40] witnessed a person doing Elden Ring and, you know, talk,

[02:05:43] listen to everybody talking about it, you know, all of that mess.

[02:05:48] Like it brings back that thing that used to exist

[02:05:51] way before the Internet where you would have like kids on the playground

[02:05:55] talking to each other about secrets and shit.

[02:05:57] Did you see that thing in that place in Elden Ring?

[02:05:59] And it's like, no, I never saw that thing.

[02:06:01] We'll go over there underneath this thing and then you'll find it, you know.

[02:06:06] And it's people were talking with each other being like,

[02:06:08] dude, have you fucking seen this place yet?

[02:06:10] Or like, no, fuck, I was there.

[02:06:12] And it's like, dude, you got to see this fucking boss is crazy.

[02:06:15] And it's like, but have you been to this place yet?

[02:06:17] It's like, no, I haven't been there yet.

[02:06:18] And it's like, yeah, that that was a crazy feeling.

[02:06:23] And I have not felt that replicated in decades.

[02:06:28] It was really, really special.

[02:06:30] There are very few games that I'll actually like

[02:06:33] play through and want to do everything because I don't maybe it's just

[02:06:38] maybe it's just my advanced age now, the advanced age of 33.

[02:06:41] You're in fact.

[02:06:42] Come on now.

[02:06:43] You were like a decade younger than me, dude.

[02:06:46] Yeah, dude, come on.

[02:06:47] It's calm down here a little bit.

[02:06:49] OK, there's sometimes

[02:06:51] like you're going to turn into a fucking cyborg or some shit.

[02:06:55] I wish, man.

[02:06:56] I wish there sometimes when I'm playing through a game

[02:06:59] and it's just like not hitting right.

[02:07:01] It's not hitting those.

[02:07:01] It's not tickling those jollies, but like some other games.

[02:07:05] All this kind of be like, like chop, chop, dude, quit fucking talking.

[02:07:08] Let's go. I want to go and finish this goddamn thing.

[02:07:10] But there are some games like Final Fantasy 9, like Earthbound,

[02:07:16] like fucking will throw steamroll heist into this steamroll heist.

[02:07:21] To cross, crono cross, like there are games like that where all just

[02:07:25] and it's not just nostalgia or like, I don't know what it is.

[02:07:30] Games like those, I don't know what it is about the games that I like

[02:07:34] and why I love them so much.

[02:07:35] I'll come back to them every so often and I'll be like, dude,

[02:07:37] I can only do everything in this game.

[02:07:39] Like crono cross, I'll go through maybe like four play throughs

[02:07:42] and collect every character and do every little side thing.

[02:07:45] Or I don't know where I'm going with this man.

[02:07:47] There are some games that I love doing everything

[02:07:52] possible in them, but like most games not.

[02:07:55] Yeah, that makes any sense.

[02:07:57] So if that's how I was with the ring, I wanted to do everything.

[02:08:01] I made sure that I beat every fucking boss in that game,

[02:08:04] optional or not.

[02:08:06] I mean, I made sure I fucking cleaned it all up.

[02:08:09] I wasn't interested in getting all the trophies or anything,

[02:08:11] but like just making sure like I've done all the things that you can do in this game.

[02:08:16] But like when it comes to

[02:08:18] I don't know, like a fucking Bethesda game where it's like,

[02:08:21] yeah, I'm not fucking doing everything in this.

[02:08:23] Yeah, or like an Ubisoft game or like like fucking Far Cry

[02:08:27] or like Sassans Creed or even like just for the sake of tossing more shit in here.

[02:08:34] Like like this creed or like like Forza Horizon and shit like that.

[02:08:39] Like I won't do everything in those but smaller games.

[02:08:43] I get like smaller games.

[02:08:46] So I'll yeah, once I get like I'll tell you what I'm close to the end.

[02:08:50] Yeah, those fucking Mario games.

[02:08:52] I would make goddamn well sure that I have completed 100 percent of a Mario game.

[02:09:00] It's funny though, because like whenever I have a game

[02:09:02] that's just not tickling my pickle, I stop.

[02:09:06] I'm like, I got too much backlog to even be bothering with this.

[02:09:09] I will not finish it.

[02:09:10] I will just set it down and I will be like, OK, next up,

[02:09:14] which of these other 700 games in my backlog do I need to touch

[02:09:18] and see which one is speaking to me at the moment?

[02:09:22] So do you find that you enjoy shorter games now?

[02:09:25] Oh, I love I have for years now been very, very much into Indies.

[02:09:30] But that's partially because you see the most creativity

[02:09:32] in these short little experiences that are.

[02:09:35] Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

[02:09:38] I'm tired of seeing these fucking hero shooters, man.

[02:09:40] I swear to God, like if I watch another award show,

[02:09:42] that's like check out this sizzle reel of fucking 14 new hero

[02:09:46] shooters that are going to fail.

[02:09:48] But the fucking corporation is going to be like, well,

[02:09:50] I guess it was just the consumers.

[02:09:52] They don't get it. Well, I'm tired of the third person shooters

[02:09:55] where you take cover and shoot and shit.

[02:09:58] I'm tired of Assassin's Creed.

[02:09:59] I'm tired of Far Cry.

[02:10:01] I'm tired of all that triple A shit.

[02:10:04] Like sometimes all a motherfucker wants to do

[02:10:07] is just 2D XCOM Steam World Heist over and over and over

[02:10:10] because I don't I hate myself.

[02:10:12] Well, and the thing, like I say, I mean,

[02:10:14] like you get some really weird blends of genres and stuff,

[02:10:17] especially when you have an indie because they don't have,

[02:10:20] you know, this whole the shareholders need us to make X amount of money.

[02:10:25] And, you know, like the shareholders, Jerry, the investors,

[02:10:29] all of us love some triple A games.

[02:10:31] And that's just how that goes.

[02:10:33] But there's certain ones, you know, but like with Indies,

[02:10:36] I'm more willing to throw them the few bucks that it takes.

[02:10:39] You know, when they're on sale to have this little experience

[02:10:42] and whether I enjoy it or not, I'm still appreciating the fact that, you know,

[02:10:46] like at least the money is going to people who aren't in essentially a sweatshop,

[02:10:50] you know, trying to do their thing.

[02:10:52] I mean, I don't know who made WUKAM.

[02:10:54] Oh, yeah, like I have not picked that game up specifically

[02:10:57] because I know how bad the working situation has been reported to be for that.

[02:11:05] But it's really good.

[02:11:07] Those kids made a really good game.

[02:11:10] But yeah, anyway, Indies short experiences.

[02:11:13] I my place on the level whenever I pop up as a rotating host is to talk about,

[02:11:19] you know, every once in a while some some triple A thing that I've been playing

[02:11:23] or whatever, a bigger game.

[02:11:24] But most of the time I am bringing to the table a bunch of random Indie shit

[02:11:28] nobody's heard of.

[02:11:29] And a lot of people, a lot of people love that because they're like,

[02:11:32] I would have never heard of this game if you didn't talk about it.

[02:11:34] Like on this week's level, I talk about a game called Scarlet Deer Inn,

[02:11:38] which all of the animations for that are hand embroidered before being scanned in.

[02:11:44] I've heard of this whole crazy looking and it's made by a check couple

[02:11:49] that are still in the middle of working on it, but the demo is out on steam.

[02:11:54] So I got one for you.

[02:11:56] I'm so typically known to know a few obscure little games.

[02:12:00] Have you heard of pseudo regalia?

[02:12:01] I have heard of it.

[02:12:03] I have not played it real good game real good.

[02:12:06] It's like a it's like a throwback to like PS one action platformers.

[02:12:10] Cool. And it's made by one person.

[02:12:14] Yeah, I saw the cover artists like this just looks is this a flash game?

[02:12:18] But then you start playing the game and you're like, oh, this is fucking tight.

[02:12:22] Tight. Right.

[02:12:26] Hell yeah, man.

[02:12:27] I think we have in the game.

[02:12:28] However, the subject of approach to games.

[02:12:33] Yeah, that's pretty much it.

[02:12:34] Yeah, we there's nothing left to talk about here.

[02:12:37] Nothing at all. One last thing.

[02:12:39] One final thing, I promise.

[02:12:41] Yeah, I guess I guess the reason why I enjoy my final thought.

[02:12:45] My final thoughts by Joe Pashie.

[02:12:49] I guess the reason I enjoy strategy RPGs and roguelike so much

[02:12:53] is because you feel like you accomplish so much and not a lot of time

[02:12:57] like strategy RPGs, you work your way through a battle battle, complete.

[02:13:01] OK, I'll pop it off and hop back on after a little bit

[02:13:05] or like wild frost, you complete one battle.

[02:13:08] Boom, I'll go make some fucking oatmeal and fuck off for 15 minutes

[02:13:11] and come back to it.

[02:13:13] I don't know. I love those kinds of games.

[02:13:15] Just accomplish something small, but it feels big and play shine for three.

[02:13:20] I'm working on it.

[02:13:22] I'm trying my my emprennick can barely handle them.

[02:13:25] I need to I need the beetle core.

[02:13:27] I need to put a new seven four man.

[02:13:30] You asshole, you have man.

[02:13:32] I know on your arms and I know for you.

[02:13:36] Oh, no, no, no, no.

[02:13:38] All the pressure. I know I do need to.

[02:13:55] Yes, listeners, that is it.

[02:13:56] That's the end of our show.

[02:13:58] Yeah, go please go listen to Jolli's shows.

[02:14:01] Holy shit, we'll have links to all that when this episode comes out.

[02:14:08] Those shows are great too.
