Good morning. Good afternoon. Good evening. Whenever you're watching this, join us as we, read Psalms 91 and continue in our daily reading of the book of Psalms. Psalms 91 says, those who live in the shelter of the most high will find rest in the shadow of the almighty.
McKay Vandenberg:This I declare about the Lord. He alone is my refuge, my place of safety. He is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers.
McKay Vandenberg:He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrows that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though 10,000 are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.
McKay Vandenberg:Just open your eyes and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you. No plague will come near your home, for he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras.
McKay Vandenberg:You will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet. The Lord says, I will rescue those who love me, I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer. I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.
McKay Vandenberg:I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation. Psalms 91 is actually my personal favorite Psalm and the Psalm I go to most often when I'm experiencing struggles and difficulties in my day. I'm someone that experiences depression and anxiety in various, seasons and situations And this Psalm, as I reflect on it, is a very direct promise from our Lord. A promise, you know, verses 14 through 16, the Lord says, I will rescue those who love me. At the peak of your fear, at the peak of the stress, when things are closing in around you, God's promises to rescue you.
McKay Vandenberg:He's there with you. When they call on me, I will answer. I will be with them in trouble and I will rescue and honor them. These are all things that we can be reminded of today and every day as we go through the difficulties of the various stages of life you're in. You could be a student that is just struggling to get through school.
McKay Vandenberg:Young adult figuring out what it means to enter the workforce or figure out a college degree. You could be a grandparent figuring out what it means now as you enter into the later stage of life and how to interact with your family and friends in that way. Any situation you're in, this Psalm can bring us hope and peace that no matter where we are at, the Lord is with us and will protect us. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for reminders like this.
McKay Vandenberg:Thank you for seeing us in our affliction and our struggles and reminding us that even though those struggles may be real, you are greater and stronger than that. Lord, I pray that as we go about our days, our weeks, our years, that we just continue to be reminded that you are there with us, that you love us and promise to rescue us. We pray all these things in Jesus name. Amen.
