Speaker 2:Good afternoon. Mike Lane with you on KINY. It is the new problem corner. If you have something you'd like to buy, sell, swap, trade, or talk about, give me a shout. 586-1800.
Speaker 2:Now if you don't wanna be on the air, that's fine. You can always email your problem corner thoughts and ideas to me. Go to k I n y radio dot com. You can email me from there. Those emails come directly to me, by the way, just so you know.
Speaker 2:Alright. It is 6 minutes after 1. Before we jump into recapping some of the stuff from yesterday, I I gotta mention, I was listening to that ABC report about, hurricane Milton. Very, very powerful hurricane, again gaining strength and, ramping up to a category 5. Holy cows.
Speaker 2:Yeah. It could again, it could be a category 5 in no time at all. And what they are saying about it, if you if you've done any reading about it, you'll know that, they're saying that it could be one of the most destructive hurricanes on record by late tomorrow. That is absolutely nuts. And one of the other things that got my attention with that was the fact that they have so much national attention, from national media, and they've had how much warning?
Speaker 2:How much warning have they had for this thing? They get they get a lot of warning for the hurricanes and people still refuse to leave. They absolutely dig their heels in, do not wanna leave. I understand it's home and I get that but it's a hurricane for crying out loud. That is absolutely crazy.
Speaker 2:It's scary. They say that Air Force Reserve hurricane hunters find that Hurricane Milton's intensity has rebounded and the Hurricane Center said they said this in an advisory this afternoon that it could be a category 5. It's right on the cusp of becoming a category 5, which is very, very scary and a lot of destruction there and potential loss of life. Anyway, with that said, what do we have to do to get national coverage for our flood situation here in southeast? Our floods and landslides that we've been experiencing quite a bit of lately.
Speaker 2:What do you think we should do to get that national coverage? I mean, seems like, we haven't really had that much national coverage on that as far as I know. I haven't noticed any, but anyway, with that said, a quick look at the weather. We are expecting quite a bit of rain over the next few days, including today. Showers through the rest of today with a high of 49, winds out of the east at about 5 miles per hour.
Speaker 2:And then tonight, more showers somewhere between a quarter and a half inch expected, an overnight low of 40 with winds out of the east at 5 miles per hour. And, they are saying tomorrow is going to bring somewhere between a quarter and a half inch again with a high of 45 and east winds 10 to 15. And that's the way it's gonna look all the way through the the week and into the coming weekend. Right now, in the capital city, southeast winds at 9 overcast and 47 here at the Juno Media Center. Alright, problem corner.
Speaker 2:If you've got something you want to buy, sell, swap, trade, give me a call. 586-1800. Here is a we'll get to that we'll get to that in a minute. Good afternoon. Provenkorn.
Speaker 2:You're on the air?
Speaker 3:Hey. Good afternoon.
Speaker 2:What's going on?
Speaker 3:I am still looking for 2 tires.
Speaker 2:Okay. What size?
Speaker 3:They're 21560r16.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 3:You can call, text, or leave a message at 907-635-0429.
Speaker 2:Gotcha. Alright. And you don't need them on wheels. Right? You just need the tires themselves.
Speaker 3:And to save time, if they do come on wheels, they're 5 lugs.
Speaker 2:Okay. Alright. You'll take the 5 lugs if you got it. Okay. Cool.
Speaker 2:We'll see what we can do for you.
Speaker 3:Okay. Thank you for your help.
Speaker 2:You bet. Thanks for the phone call.
Speaker 4:Have a good day.
Speaker 2:You as well. Bye bye. He's looking for some tires. If they happen to come on rims, the 5 lug rim would work, but the tires are 21560r16. That's 21560r16, and he'd like to get some tires.
Speaker 2:Okay? You can give him a call. 635-0429. Good afternoon. Problem Corner.
Speaker 2:You on the air?
Speaker 4:Yeah. I'm looking for a, like, a a swivel barstool on the back on it.
Speaker 2:Okay. I
Speaker 4:just got one of those that I'd prefer not a full size barstool, like, a little little bit smaller.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 4:But with the back on, definitely, it swivels. My number is 723-43322.
Speaker 2:4332. Gotcha. Alright. We'll see if we can find one for you.
Speaker 5:Okay. Thank you very much.
Speaker 2:You bet. Have a great day. Alright. He's looking for that swivel barstool, the kind with a back on it. Not a big one, not a full size one, but a swivel barstool with the back on it.
Speaker 2:If you have one, you'd like to get rid of it, he's interested. Give him a call. 723-432-4332, and he'd be glad to take that off your hands. Alright. The, blue recliner lift chair.

Speaker 2:That's 321-1753. Get yourself a very nice ride there. Alright. Let's take a look at some of those events that are taking place in town. Tonight, we have the Tuesday travelogue, Himalayan trekking in western Tibet and India.
Speaker 2:It's gonna be a Gold Town theater. 5:15 tonight is when that starts, and they are taking donations, by the way, for that. Donations to the Gold Town are gladly accepted. Apparently, in 2017, Kate Troll, Bill Hanson, and Stephanie Hogue joined 7 friends on a guided trek through the, Markup Valley in the Himalayas. Wow.
Speaker 2:That sounds exciting and a bit scary if you ask me, but they're gonna talk about it tonight, Tuesday travelogue, Himalayan trekking in Western Tibet and India, 5:15 at Gold Town Theater. Alright. Also going on right now is the ales for tails, that is going on till 8 o'clock tonight over at the Alaska Brewing Company tasting room. Juno Animal Rescue is going to have some folks over there from 3 till 6. They'll have, information about who they are, what they do, and, also some swag.
Speaker 2:So, and if you wanna buy one of those, those custom JAR pint glasses, one of the mason jar pint glasses that would help them out as well. This is going to benefit Juno Animal Rescue and from my understanding, every dollar they and for every pint they sell during this event, a dollar from every pint will be donated to jars. So that's going on till 8 o'clock tonight at the Alaska Brewing Company Tasting Room. So you can go check that out. It's going on right now until 8 o'clock tonight.
Speaker 2:And what else have we got here? Got a ton of stuff people wrote in, called in. Oh, yeah. Allen wrote in again and has has, adjusted the price of the printer again. It is a, HP LaserJet Toner Cartridge.

Speaker 2:You can give her a call. 209-6860. That's 209-6860. And, get yourself some new jeans. Also, a gentleman was looking for what he referred to as a backyard mechanic.
Speaker 2:A backyard mechanic. He, I think he wants to replace the head gasket in his truck. You can call him at 907-209-1840. That's 2, 209-1840. And finally, the kitchen cabinets.
Speaker 2:Gentleman is looking for kitchen cabinets. Specifically, he's looking for the uppers, but, he's not opposed to looking at the downers, the lowers, whatever you want to call them. 723-7655 is the number for that. 723-7655. And that was from, a couple of days ago.
Speaker 2:So I haven't heard back. Don't know if they've, found what they were looking for or got rid of the stuff they were trying to get rid of. John wrote in and said he just got back into town and learned that Problem Corner is back. Great news. Problem Corner truly is part of our community along with July 4th bonfires, extra toughs, and the April Christmas wreaths.
Speaker 2:I haven't seen the April Christmas wreaths. I don't know about that. Maybe I've just been blind. I don't know. Besides, he says, where else can I sell my nearly brand new Harvest Gold electric range with 2 working burners and a door with broken hinges?
Speaker 2:Welcome back. Thank you. Good afternoon, problem corny on the air. Hello.
Speaker 5:Hey. Good morning.
Speaker 2:Good morning.
Speaker 5:Well, it's not afternoon. It used to be good morning. Hey.
Speaker 2:It's morning somewhere.
Speaker 5:It's morning somewhere. Yeah. I did not find those cabinets yet, but, thanks for putting me in there.
Speaker 2:Oh, yeah. You bet. Now are are
Speaker 5:Appreciate that.
Speaker 2:Are you building a cabin or something?
Speaker 4:Yeah. Kinda that way, I need
Speaker 5:to have, yeah. The answer is yes.
Speaker 2:The the answer is yes. Kinda, yes, sorta. Yeah.
Speaker 5:Kinda, yeah.
Speaker 2:Okay. Alright. Alright. Any other parts?
Speaker 5:Yeah. I, and and the front part of that is a 907, of course, on that number. I figured people might know that already, but Oh, yeah.
Speaker 2:You never know what people know, you know. That that this is true. This is very true. 907-723-7655, and, I hope you find
Speaker 4:the cabinets.
Speaker 2:On that. Yeah. Hope you find the cabinets you're looking for and appreciate the call. They're out
Speaker 4:there somewhere. Yeah. Oh, they are.
Speaker 2:They absolutely hey, you know, if if you had contacted me, I'd say a year and a half ago, I'd have said here's some cabinets for you.
Speaker 5:Make them away.
Speaker 2:That's right.
Speaker 5:That's the best deal
Speaker 2:right there. Yeah. Take them away. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2:That's a fact. Call. True. True story. Hey.
Speaker 2:Thanks for the call.
Speaker 10:Hey, you bet. Thank you.
Speaker 2:Yep. Bye bye. Bye bye. Yeah. He's still looking for those cabinets.
Speaker 2:If, you can help him out, he's still looking for them. 907-723-7655. And, get rid of those cabinets that are just laying out in your shop or out behind your shop, wherever they might be. He's looking for those uppers specifically, but not opposed to the lowers as well. Let's see what else have we got going on in town.
Speaker 2:We do have the ales for tails that's going on right now till 8 o'clock tonight over at the Alaska Brewing Company tasting room, and, that's going on till 8 o'clock tonight in Benefits Jar, Juno Animal Rescue. Good afternoon. Problem Corner, you're on the air.
Speaker 10:Yeah. Hey. I'm gonna stir the pot.
Speaker 2:Oh, stir the pot. It's here's the spoon. You go right ahead.
Speaker 5:Hey. You know, whatever do they decide to do with Floyd Drive, I mean, I always thought that would be a perfect place for the city offices to be. Although they claimed it would cost more to put cubicles in there and stuff than than to build a whole new building, which I really, really, really doubt. You know what I mean?
Speaker 2:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not sure what they did with, Floyd Dryden. I know that it it doubled as a shelter for a while, during during some flood relief stuff.
Speaker 2:But
Speaker 5:Yeah. Yeah. And, you know, that that wouldn't be a bad idea for use for the gymnasium because, you know, I hear they're gonna gonna get a bunch of sandbags and and the city's gonna pay to put them in or something. You know, that's part of the plan Yeah. For the for the next flood.
Speaker 5:But, I really just don't understand why they don't put city officers in there. I guess it's because they just don't want to. They wanna be downtown or the downtown business associates association doesn't want the city moving out of downtown. You know? It's just
Speaker 2:Yeah. I I don't know. I don't know the answer. I wonder if somebody else does. Somebody, might have more knowledge about it than than me and, Yeah.
Speaker 5:You know, it just makes common sense. You've got that building. And I know when Wade was buried, he said that they would probably rent it out, but they'd take a loss on it. You know what I mean? You got this building that's paid for that's big enough to do a whole lot with.
Speaker 2:Yeah. And we have
Speaker 5:when we're renting city offices, I mean, it wouldn't take much to put cubicles in each classroom and put people in there, you know. Yeah. I think in the state office building, they put a bunch of cubicles, you know. It I just, it just I guess it just makes too much sense. You know what I mean?
Speaker 2:Yeah. I was gonna say, you did mention somebody had common sense. I'm not sure about that. Yeah. And, you know,
Speaker 5:and I just wish our city would quit trying to spend so much money. You know? The people are having a tough enough time paying their property taxes nowadays. Yeah. Well, I'll leave it at that.

Speaker 10:I still wanna, make a comment about, drivers in Juneau.
Speaker 2:Okay. I don't
Speaker 10:understand why they drive with their headlights off when, you know, we're falling in this fall time weather and winter, and you don't get that much daylight after dusk.
Speaker 4:Right. Right. Right.
Speaker 10:O'clock. It's in 9 o'clock areas, it's, you know, pitch black out, and you can't even see those cars.
Speaker 2:Yeah. Yeah. I don't
Speaker 10:as I don't know. And then pedestrians, they should wear reflections reflectors or some kind of, like, a reflector on their clothing of some type. Yeah. You can't even see them.

Speaker 10:It's really, scary to even go, for, like, well, people who do DoorDash and and then people are running in stop what do you call it? Stop signs. I noticed this really bad, by the way, the homes area, the freezing area.
Speaker 2:Yeah?
Speaker 10:And this person almost t boned our car. The driver drove right to the stop sign Uh-huh. Just didn't even stop completely and almost collided with our car. And it's just the careless drivers out there. This is a small town.
Speaker 10:It's not a big city.
Speaker 2:Yeah. You know It's
Speaker 10:not like Seattle or Anchorage or anything like that, and the roads are pretty narrow around here.
Speaker 2:Yeah. I think I don't think I don't know that people
Speaker 8:are there, and
Speaker 10:they really take up a lot of space.
Speaker 2:I don't know that people are necessarily careless drivers.
Speaker 10:You know, should think that people need to be more considerate.
Speaker 2:Well, yeah. And I I gotta say though, I don't I don't think I don't think that they're necessarily careless. I don't think they're careless drivers. I think they just get so comfortable behind the wheel that they, you know, they kind of space out where you're at. You know what I mean?
Speaker 10:Thank you.
Speaker 2:Alright. Thank you. Alright. Yeah. Just pay attention where you're going.
Speaker 2:I mean, I've done it. Yeah. I've done it too. Yeah. You're driving along.
