Good morning. This is your insurance connection. I'm your host, Donald Marquez. On your insurance connection, we talk about saving money on auto insurance, homeowners insurance, yes, and we talk about life insurance. Welcome to the show. Good morning, Las Vegas. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection broadcasting at KUNV 91.5 Jazz and more Sunday morning. Thank you for listening. Thank you for the continued listeners that came in and purchased Home Auto, yes, and life insurance. I'm a licensed insurance broker, right here in my hometown, Southern Nevada, Las Vegas. It's hot as it is. I was in California last weekend, and it was nothing like this. Woo! You go to California and you appreciate the weather they have. You know, a funny thing, the the weather was in the 80s last weekend in California. I was in Southern Cal, and you know, people were complaining about the humidity and heat, and it was like low 80s, 85 at the high in the daytime, and and 60s, the high 60s, mid 60s at night, and they were complaining. I said, you should come to Vegas and enjoy this 115 degree weather that we have. You will run back and will appreciate the coolness of Southern California's amazing weather. I had a really good time. You know, just had to get out the heat a little bit and just talking about the heat. You know, stay hydrated. It's very important. I went to see my doctor, and she told me I need to drink a little bit more water. She said, you know, your kidneys look good; they're getting better, but you need to drink more water. So, if you drink alcohol, make sure you drink plenty of water. So, if you drink two glasses of wine, you need to drink, you know, more water than wine. And if you drink liquor, much more liquor, much more water than liquor. Just keep that in mind. Keep your body healthy. You know, moving forward. You know, it's a lot of people out with diabetes. As an insurance professional, you know, I realize selling life insurance. So many people have diabetes. You know, it's okay to have some sugar, but you know we really have to restrict ourselves, especially late at night. You know, getting that ice cream out and watching television. I think television is the cause of diabetes, and I'm gonna say that. You know how many how many times we get in front of the TV and snack? I do it. I do, but I find myself. You know what? I need to get an apple instead of going getting a piece of pie. You know, sometimes I say to myself, "Well, it's apple pie or peach pie. You know, so that's a fruit, but it contains a lot of sugar. So if you just eat a regular apple or some grapes, you know, cranberries is very good for you, you know. You can snack on that, and oh, pumpkin seeds. You know, sometimes we just like to crunch. While we, you know, potato chips. Instead of eating potato chips, eat an apple. That's a crunch. You get a nice crunch from an apple, and it's a lot healthier for you too as well. We need to watch our weight. You know, keep our weight down in check. So you know, as we age, we have all these different health problems, and not to say that when you have health problems, you can't get life insurance. You can get life insurance, but you may fit in a certain category. I had a young lady call me. She said, "Why? I don't know if I. I'm getting too old about life insurance, but I really do need a policy. I really do need a policy because I need life insurance, and my mother died, and I had to ship her to another country because she didn't want to be buried in the United States. She wanted to be buried in a home country she was born in with the rest of her family. We put a plan together. We put a policy together for her. There was no physical, and she was surprised at the price. So don't ever determine your own faith when it comes to getting life insurance, thinking that you cannot afford it. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection. For more information, my contact phone number is 702-236-2624.
My location Sahara Rancho in the U.S. Bank Center. I'm on the eighth floor. Now Sahara and Rancho is right across the street from the Palace Station Hotel. Tall Brown building has U.S. Bank at the. I work by appointment on the eighth floor. I've been over there since 2015. Yeah, and I love what I do as an insurance agent. I'm an insurance broker slash agent, whatever you want to call it. But the difference is when I work for Allstate and AAA as a captive agent, a captive agent. Excuse me. I can only write AAA's and Allstate policies. That was it. Anything out of AAA or Allstate when I was an agent, started with Allstate first, had my own agency, and you know I sold my agency and I was recruited to join AAA, and I stayed AAA long enough to retire. And in 2015, I decided to be an insurance broker. And being an insurance broker allows me a lot more leverage to find insurance for my clients, whether it's auto insurance, homeowners insurance. I have a lot more companies, and this is the difference. When when it comes to life insurance, I have 60 companies that I can pull from. Now, of course, I don't use all 60 of them, but it just lets you know the the volume of of client of companies that I have for my clients. Now, if there's a special need for a client, maybe you have multiple sclerosis. I have companies that will insure you. If you have a history of cancer, I have companies that will insure you. If you have diabetes, I have companies with an S that will insure you. Yes, if you have a stint, if you have a stent in your heart, I have a company that will insure you. So don't ever think you can't get insured. Don't ever determine yourself. I can't get life insurance because I have this underlying health condition. Well, don't let that again. Don't let that to be the determining factor. I am the professional. This is what I do. I study insurance. You know, I study insurance, and I've been practicing insurance now. Who? Knock on wood for 30 years. I received my license in 1996, and I get up every morning, even on the weekend. Although I try to enjoy the weekend whenever I can. Even on the weekend, you know, I'm always thinking about how can I serve my customers. You know, I'm looking always looking for insurance companies out there that I could, you know, bring customers to with underlying health conditions. Now, if you're healthy, and you know you can get a larger policy. That's fine. But the people that call me, that listening to KU and V 91.5 jazz or more, is usually is 55 and older. My my sweet spot, if I want to call it that, my customer is usually 55 to to 75, and sometimes I get an 80-year-old, not that often. That is not going to make a large difference. Or you know, I can't afford it. But if you can afford to go out for a dinner, and these meals cost today a good dinner, a nice dinner with you and your significant other, you know, it's 150 dollars easy. It could be more than that. If you buy a nice bottle of wine, that could be a $300 dinner. But if you could spend money on that, and that's not to say don't go to dinner. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying we can we do other things with our money. If you have car insurance, and I know car insurance in the state of Nevada is a little pricey. And again, I've said this on my show, and I say it again. When you see these commercials on television, and I I get the phone calls, hey, mr. Marquez, I seen a commercial on television, and they said for you know hundreds of dollars of savings, you know they can you can this company will offer hundreds of dollars in savings, and I'm paying, I'm paying a lot more than they advertising. Listen to me, they're not talking about Las Vegas. They that's a nationwide advertising campaign. They're not talking about Southern Nevada. In Southern Nevada, we pay some of the highest car insurance rates in the country. I think we're around the fifth highest when it comes to paying car insurance.
Yes, it's very expensive here to register your vehicle, and also to insure your vehicles. And a lot of people have multiple cars, so you know if you can afford multiple cars, and you have paying, and you know, and I'm gonna tell you something. The average cost of insurance has gone up so high since I've been an agent. It it it baffles me sometimes. It's like, wow, that's that's a lot. But every every you know when I compare other companies, you know the companies are still in line. You know that's okay. They're paying this much, and I've used I've I've searched three companies because I do the shopping for you. I've searched three companies and it's all around the same price. It's all around. Sometimes it's less. Sometimes it's less with auto insurance, but you know it's it's like wow, what is going on in Vegas? You know, but when you buy these cars and they cost, you know, anywhere from 45 to $75,000, I remember cars used to cost. Oh, you could buy a car all day long for like three or 400, $500. Pray no, what happened to those days? I mean, really, when I was a teenager, I could buy a car all day, every day, for $500. Now, if you, I'm spending 1000 to $1,500, I had a really nice car. But you know, most most teenagers, we you know we cut grass. I threw newspapers. You know, we did odd jobs with busboys at casinos and you know at restaurants. We did a little dishwasher. I did that too to save enough money for two things because I still I still was in school to save enough money to buy a little raggedy car and buy clothes. That was my objective, you know. But those days have changed, and I used to be on my dad's insurance, and I only paid $50 a month on my dad's insurance policy. But everything has changed now. Everything's changed now. Now people complain about the car insurance rates. I understand, and I do my best to find you a lower rate, or you know, or they complain that if they had one accident in so many years, why did my insurance go up? Yeah, but the car stopped in front of me. You know, you have to give yourself a stay safe distance. Do not text and drive. I catch myself doing it sometimes. You know, I do this. Oh, Don, put the phone down. It's not that important. You know, I don't text people when I'm driving. My, I hear a music. I I love music. Listening to KUNV 91.5 Jazz or more has broadened my jazz perspective when it comes to music. So when I hear a jazz tune on this radio station and I'm driving my car down the road, I'll put it on Sazam. I think that's what they call it. Sazam in my library, so I can play it later. So I have a nice collection of music, listening to 91.5 Jazz and more. And when I'm driving down the road, it's oh, I got to get that song to put it in my library. And now, and it's real quick. I'll put it in my library and keep my eyes on the road. My whole point is that creates accidents, and I should know better. You should know better. Do not text and drive. I don't text messages to say, "Hey, you know, meet me for dinner. I can wait till I park to do all that. You know, I can I can wait. You should wait too because it's creating a lot of rear end car collisions, and especially our senior senior citizens, their response time is a lot slower than it used to be, and unfortunately, our seniors are finding out when they turn 75 and older, their car insurance rates may adjust. My name is Don Marques. For more information, my contact number 7022362624702. Excuse me, 702-236-2624, I was trying to slow down. I I got a little too slow. Some people tell me that slow down with that phone number. My address is right on the corner of Sahara and Rancho, in the U.S. Bank Center, eighth floor. I work by appointment. My business hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. And I do a lot of business via phone 702 2362624.
You can call me or text me at that number, and I will reply. I return all calls. I return all calls. Some people say, "Well, I've been trying to get you for the last three months. Okay, well, I answer my phone. Maybe it's been on on your mind for the last three months to call me, because when you call, I answer. You know, I kind of can distinguish between okay, the telemarketers call me, and they call all of us. You know, and they always calling me for for anything from donations to vacuum cleaners. Do you want to sell your house? No, I do not want to sell my house. Do you know anyone that need their house that want to put their house up for sale? No, I do not. Leave me alone. Hang up the phone. But I could tell, I have that what they call a spam on my phone with spam callers, so I rarely answer those calls. But I I can recognize when it's not a spam call, and I answer all calls again. 702-236-2624. Let's get right into it. With the program I have now with with with Americo Life Insurance Company, which one of I'm one of their leading top insurance agents in in in in Southern Nevada. I really do enjoy working for this company. It's a life insurance company for whole life insurance. The benefits are amazing for customers. First of all, let's the rates are very low competitive rates in comparison to other companies that I represent. Now I was very fortunate to get with America Life Insurance Company. I'm licensed to offer Americo in Nevada, California, Texas, Louisiana, and Michigan. Now, if you're listening to this program and you're in Oklahoma and you want a life insurance policy, because you know I really like what this guy is saying. On KUNV, I want him to be represent me for a life insurance policy. You just contact me, and I'll get license in Oklahoma. It's that simple. It takes about a week to get me a license in a non-resident state. I'm in Nevada, but we can do a lot of business over the phone. I'm not going to fly to Oklahoma and write your policy. And if you want to come to my office, you know, if you want to come to my office, I'm talking to people that live here. If you like to come to my office and sit down and do a business face to face, I'm open for that too. But with the heat and I understand the and the prices of gas, people prefer doing business over the phone, whether it's auto insurance, homeowners, renters, boat, motorcycle, and life insurance. Hey, you know we could do this over the phone. That's convenient for me, and okay, that's convenient for me too as well. To stay out of the heat, it's gonna cool down in about another month. You know, if this is your first summer in Vegas, I hope you survived it. It's like this every year, so it is what it is. Now with this company I have called America Life Insurance Company. Again, I'm very excited to be one of their top agency here in Southern Nevada. There's no physical exam that's required when we qualify you. When I qualify you for a life insurance policy, there's no physical exam required, you know. That takes a lot of, that streamlines everything, that streamlines the process of getting you insured quickly, and in most cases, I would say at least 90% maybe even higher, I get people insured day one insurance coverage, you know, protection starts from the very first day. That's that's huge. That's big, you know. And and some policies are do require a two year wait. You know, everyone is different. Let let's go through the process. Let's answer all the health questions, and this only takes about 20 minutes. Yeah, 20 minutes, and we can find out right away whether you qualify for day one insurance or there's a two year wait. Now, you may say to yourself, "Oh, two years? You mean I don't, I don't get insured day one? Well, it's based on you. The rates are based on you, your health, your age. You know whether you're a smoker, non-smoker, and I'll get to the non-smoker rates here in a few. But the rates depend on you.
Your age is a rating factor, and once you're locked in, rates and benefits stay locked in. So you don't have to worry about oh my rates will go up and when I turn 80 years old. No, they won't. Rates and benefits stay locked in. Builds cash value. Yes, this policy builds cash value. What is a cash value asset? It's a bank. So when you put money into a policy, if you have an emergency years down the road building up your cash value, then you could borrow money against your policy. This is a whole life policy. Builds cash value. Now again, just back up a little bit. The protection starts from day one in most cases. Permanent protection to age 121. Yeah, protection to age 121. You know, being an insurance agent for the last 30 years, I have to say this: no one has no one has made 121 yet, or maybe even 120 yet. But you know, hey, I'm still writing business. We never know. But I think I had of a lady. She one lady. She she stayed with me until age 106, and then you know, and then her her day came, and it comes from all of us. But she wasn't sure. She called me, "Hey, mr. Marquez, I'm still with you. You know, my policy's still good. I said, "Yes, ma'am, it is. She said, "Well, you know, I just had a birthday. I'm 106, and this was a few years back, and it was so nice. She she would call me on her birthday just to let me know she's still with me. And I told like when we when we met, I said whenever when your birthday comes, you know, just let me know. Call me. She said I will. I'm gonna call you. And she was calling me, and she started like 100. I think she started calling me when she reached 100, and every year after that she would call me because I wrote a policy years ago, and you know she said I live a long time. I said okay. I said when you reach 100, you just let me know. Call me when you reach 100, and she did. So it was that was quite unique. Again, protection starts from day one. We have three three categories. We have the Eagle Eagle Select One, the Eagle Select Two, and also we have the Eagle Select Three with this company, and we're talking about protective life insurance company. Now, your Eagle Select Three is your modified policy for the first first two years. Two years go by quick in a blink of an eye. In the. Link of an eye, you know. If you're a senior citizen, right? Think about five years ago and how quickly that went. Two years is nothing. That's two Thanksgivings, right? Two Halloweens, two Christmases, right? That's it. Two Christmases, and and that's it. It's over, and you're fully insured. Now, if you do qualify for Eagle Select Three, don't the insurance companies is not turning you down? They're just saying because of your health and the medications you're taking that we have to put you in this category. Most people qualify for Eagle Select One and Eagle Select Two, and the rates are very very competitive at those rates. Also, Eagle Select Three, the rates are competitive. It just you know we make sure that you understand fully what what you're buying, what you're paying for every month, because you're gonna need the coverage. The average cost of funerals today are on the rise. I talked to a funeral home business owner. You know he owns a mortuary. He's been in this town for a very long time, mr. Andre Crockett. He we talk from time to time, and he's letting me know. He was letting me know the price of funerals today, which I didn't know. The caskets come from China, and there's tariffs on the caskets. Yeah, so he said those tariffs on the caskets make us raise our prices. We have to raise our prices, and I'm like, wow. You mean in the United States we don't make caskets? He said, no, they come from China. I said, wow. You know, maybe some are made in the United States, maybe custom made. I don't know, but on your average casket is coming from China, and the cost is rising.
Your average cost of a funeral today, for a full funeral, we're not talking about cremation. For a full full funeral, it's at that's 20 to 25, $30,000. Depends. That's in that category. You in that category today, 2025, $30,000 in that range. And think about it. Think about it. You know the the and some people want to be shipped somewhere else. They want to. I don't want to be buried in Vegas. I want. I want to be shipped home to Texas with my family members because we have a group plot there. You know, so all that costs money. Who's going to pay for that? And and there are people in your family that's not responsible to take care of their final expenses. You know, let's work together to get them a life insurance policy. The only thing I'm gonna need is their full name, social security number, date of birth, and address. And you can represent your dad, your mom, your grandparent, or even your children with life insurance because you know you don't want to get that call, and and all of a sudden, you know, something happened, and now you have to. You don't have time to grieve. You really don't. You have to go into action and take care of this final expense, and without prepping, being prepared for a very expensive final expense. When a person dies, I'm just be frank with you. It's very expensive. You know, it is very expensive to die today. It's not like it was 2030, years ago, but today to die today, it is very expensive. You know, we're talking about 20 to $30,000 on a traditional burial. You know, the plot, the container, or the vault, whatever you want to call it, the casket, the preparation-you have to pay these facilities, the church, the chapels, wherever you have your funeral service. A lot of times, you have to pay that service. You have to pay for everything: the limo services, the hearse. And I want people to live a long time, but you have to understand. You have to prepare yourself for this very expensive day. You know, and let your beneficiaries know on your life insurance policy, they are the beneficiary. If you have a life insurance policy, and your primary beneficiary or your primary beneficiaries has passed, now it's time to get a new beneficiary. Pick up the phone and call your life insurance company, and tell them you need to change a beneficiary form. They'll send you the form. They can email you form, email the form to you. You know, print the form, fill it out, send it back in to your insurance company. That's really, really important because finding out if you don't have a beneficiary when you pass because your husband passed before you did, and that's you know a lot of cases that happens, or your wife passed away before you did, and she was your primary, or he was your primary beneficiary. It's going to cause family members problems because now that policy could go into probate. The courts will have to decide who's next to kin, and all that takes time. When you lose a loved one, time is not something you know that you have as a luxury. You need to take care of this final expense. You need now you have to come out of your pocket for your for this very expensive funeral because now the policy did not have a primary beneficiary. There was no contingent beneficiary. In the primary have passed. This is why, for no obligation reviews, we'll sit down with you. I'll review your current life insurance policy, give you an update on it, and tell you where you are with your policy. 702-236-2624. No obligation. That means you don't pay for my service, even when you purchase a policy, you don't pay for my service. When I sell, when I sell a policy, whether it's home, auto, life insurance, the insurance companies compensate me for my time. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection broadcasting right here at KUNV. If this is your very first time listening to me, I've been broadcasting here at KUNV probably almost four years now. Welcome to the show every Sunday morning from eight a.m. to 830. You know I love coming in the studio. My engineer is mr. West. He's the best.
He keeps me on time and keeps me up up when I'm when I'm stumbling. He'll clean it up for me. So it's nice and clean broadcast coming through your radio, and I'm here to help you educate you about insurance. I'm a licensed agent, and I come on the radio. It's an educational show. I would love to help you go over your life insurance policies, your auto insurance policies with you. Now, with the life insurance, I have more good information on this life insurance policy, this whole life policy, I'm talking about today, up to $50,000 in coverage. You can cover your your children and your grandchildren on this life insurance policy as long as they're eight. As long as they're now there is a cutoff age. They they now they'll spin off the policy when they turn 25 and they're insured up to age so up to age 17. Excuse me, 17. So you have to be 17 years or younger to add your children or your grandchildren on your life insurance policy as a rider, and it's no physical for them or for you. We also have accidental death benefit rider too as well, but if you are killed in a car accident and you have a life insurance policy, it pays regardless because you know an accidental death benefit rider means it's an an additional coverage that pays even more money. And for more information, I'll go over that with you when you call and ask about the accidental death benefit rider. But it is a whole life policy for natural causes, for permanent final expense, whole life insurance. Now, if you are a smoker, and this is really good news for my smokers, again, I've never seen a company ever offer this. For the first 36 months, you're rated as a non-smoker. Let me say that again. You're smoking cigarettes right now, listening to this program, having your cup of coffee, and no life insurance. I can get your life insurance policy, rated as a non-smoker as long as you're over 40 years young. You have to be over 40 and over to get this coverage. You smoker sitting down drinking your coffee, listening to this program like, oh, I could be rated as a non-smoker for the first 36 months. So it's called a quit smoking advantage program. You do have to stop smoking for a consecutive 12 months because you will be tested at the end of 36 months and see if you're using tobacco. Now, if you're still using tobacco, we'll adjust the policy. We'll tell you what the smoker's rate is at your current age, or we'll we'll adjust the policy to keep your premium the same. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection 702-236-2624 702-236-2624. My location, Sahara Rancho. I work by appointment only. I'm located on the corner of Sahara Rancho in the U.S. Bank Building, eighth floor, beautiful brown building right on the corner. Chick Fil A is on across the street. Pala Station is across the street. You can't miss it. Again, I work by appointment. 702-236-2624. Stay cool. Enjoy your day. We'll do this again next week. Everyone, be safe.
