If you take one thing from today’s episode, let it be this: parents of gender-confused youth can now take a quiz on my website to identify which archetypal themes they’re struggling with and which ROGD Repair lessons can help. That’s the big news here.

If you take a second thing from today, let it be this: all my websites got a makeover. Whether you’re a listener, course member, client, or otherwise interested in anything I do, you’ll find the resources easy to navigate. Whether you visit StephanieWinn.com, SomeTherapist.com, or ROGDrepair.com, you’ll find what you’re looking for.

The biggest criticism I hear about ROGD Repair is that it’s a lot, and parents don’t know where to start. So I built a quiz. It sorts you into parenting archetypes based on your disposition: whether you freeze under stress, doubt yourself, or obsess over research. I walk through a sample result, the Penitent, for a parent whose guilt makes every boundary negotiable, and show how the results point you to the lessons that fit your family.

I also cover how my websites now work as one connected site, with a Clients button that always gets you where you need to go, and a rebuilt Bookshop. Then I explain why I trained RepairBot to ask more questions and give shorter answers, even though some of you found that frustrating. Good help depends on knowing your child’s personality and your relationships, not on generic scripts. Finally, I share ways to cut through the overwhelm: the “who this is for” summaries on each lesson, listening to the course like a podcast, and the new Unpacked Concept Animations series.

This honestly isn’t interesting to listen to, so if you’re an audio-only kind of person or don’t care about navigating my websites, go ahead and skip it. But please pass along the websites to whoever might need them.

What is You Must Be Some Kind of Therapist?

A podcast at the intersection of psychology and culture that intimately explores the human experience and critiques the counseling profession. Your host, Stephanie Winn, distills wisdom gained from her practice as a family therapist and coach while pivoting towards questions of how to apply a practical understanding of psychology to the novel dilemmas of the 21st century, from political polarization to medical malpractice.

What does ethical mental health care look like in a normless age, as our moral compasses spin in search of true north? How can therapists treat patients under pressure to affirm everything from the notion of "gender identity" to assisted suicide?

Primarily a long-form interview podcast, Stephanie invites unorthodox, free-thinking guests from many walks of life, including counselors, social workers, medical professionals, writers, researchers, and people with unique lived experience, such as detransitioners.

Curious about many things, Stephanie’s interdisciplinary psychological lens investigates challenging social issues and inspires transformation in the self, relationships, and society. She is known for bringing calm warmth to painful subjects, and astute perceptiveness to ethically complex issues. Pick up a torch to illuminate the dark night and join us on this journey through the inner wilderness.

You Must Be Some Kind of Therapist ranks in the top 1% globally according to ListenNotes. New episodes are released every Monday. Three and a half years after the show's inception in May of 2022, Stephanie became a Christian, representing the crystallization of moral, spiritual, and existential views she had been openly grappling with along with her audience and guests. Newer episodes (#188 forward) may sometimes reflect a Christian understanding, interwoven with and applied to the same issues the podcast has always addressed. The podcast remains diverse and continues to feature guests from all viewpoints.

[00:00:00] Announcer: You must be some kind of therapist

[00:00:09] Stephanie: Hello, friends. We're going to do something different today. The guest I had originally [00:00:15] scheduled today had to reschedule because a storm in the Northeast was interfering with his internet connection, and I have a little bit of a cold, so it's kind of a blessing to spend less time than usual talking. But I [00:00:30] have been excited to share with you my new website redesign, and while that might not be interesting to most listeners, if you are in the ROGD parent community or just curious about my work with ROGD [00:00:45] parents, then at least stick around for the beginning of this, because I'm gonna show you some cool new tools that I made on these websites.

And then after that, I'll get around to the slightly less important stuff. So if you normally listen, [00:01:00] I will do my best to make this something that you can understand just through words. But if you're interested in actually seeing the changes to the website, feel free to tune into the video version of this podcast, which is available both on YouTube and on [00:01:15] Substack.

This, of course, will be briefer than a usual episode, and it'll just be me talking, and if you've heard my solo episodes before, you know I feel really awkward when it's just me alone in a room with my computer. So please pardon any awkwardness. That being said, I'm excited to [00:01:30] give you a tour of the changes I've made to the websites.

And now we are going to take a look at what happens when you first arrive at rogdrepair.com. You're at this new landing page. Now, if this looks totally [00:01:45] unfamiliar and you are already in the course, not to worry. All you have to do is click on Go To My Course in the upper right. That will take you to the familiar layout on Teachable.

Everything that's on [00:02:00] Teachable is still on Teachable, so none of the experience of navigating the course has changed. But this is a new landing page for people who are not yet enrolled or not signed in, and it's connected to all my other websites. So [00:02:15] everything I own, stephaniewinn.com, rogdrepair.com, sometherapist.com, it's all much more beautifully connected and synchronized, and it all makes sense and it all works.

But I wanted to start with rogdrepair.com because I wanted to show [00:02:30] you this cool new wrapper for the website, and most importantly, a new tool available to you. So again, if you're already a member, not to worry, just click on Go to My Course, and it'll take you to everything you're already familiar with from navigating the Teachable platform.

[00:02:45] However, I wanted to show you the quiz I made for ROGD parents, and I'll tell you why. First of all, I'm a millennial woman. We millennial women, we love our quizzes, okay? We grew up with Seventeen magazine. We grew up taking those little, you know, what color is your aura? [00:03:00] Like nonsense personality quizzes in the back.

And you know, it's just a soft spot for us. And ironically, I think part of the social contagion element in the girly girls really is that love of labels, love of putting oneself into categories. So [00:03:15] I'm just rolling with that. But more importantly, one piece of feedback I've received on the ROGD Repair experience is, "This is wonderful, but it's really a lot and I don't know where to start."

So a lot of people feel very overwhelmed when they [00:03:30] arrive to a place like ROGD Repair, and my intention is certainly not to overwhelm people. In fact, my, one of the main experiences I had that drove me to create ROGD Repair was noticing that parents had done a lot of research, they'd read a lot of [00:03:45] books, listened to a lot of podcasts, watched videos and documentaries, but none of that was helping them feel like they had a clear direction, and that's the main thing that I was able to give people through coaching.

We were able to parse [00:04:00] through their individual circumstances, their relationships and personalities involved, and figure out what that parent needed to know about their child's psychology and how that affected what communication strategies they should use in their family. That's what I do through coaching.

It's why I built the course. So I certainly don't [00:04:15] want people to feel overwhelmed. That said, I have so much to say on this issue that there are hundreds of lessons, and so a newcomer to the course is often likely to feel just as overwhelmed by the course material as they are by all the sort of self-study they've [00:04:30] been doing, even though the whole point of the course is to give them one kind of unified approach.

So the quiz, in addition to just being kind of a fun little thing to do in an otherwise stressful situation, is also meant to help people recognize [00:04:45] what they specifically need from the program, to give them some starting points. So you can get to the quiz through this pop-up, and this will take you to rogdrepair.com/quiz.

You can [00:05:00] also get to the quiz, let's say you click away the pop-up, and you're looking, you'll have other opportunities to take the quiz. So don't worry, it's throughout the page. All right, so we're gonna take the [00:05:15] quiz. We're not gonna take the whole quiz together. I'm just gonna kinda show you the quiz landing page, and it explains almost no parent is only one of these archetypes.

Most people will recognize themself in several, [00:05:30] and the blend shifts as the situation does. The point is not to label yourself, but to see the pattern that you're in clearly enough to step out of it. So there's no right or wrong answers. People are just encouraged to answer honestly. And I'll just begin the [00:05:45] quiz just to give you a little sense of what it looks like to be taking the quiz.

I'm not gonna take the whole thing, but, you know, it asks about the age of the child at first, how frequent is contact, what's [00:06:00] the parenting dynamic like? You know, basic questions like the, the sex of the parent and the child. Then we look at autism and other diagnoses. I'm just clicking random answers so you can kind of [00:06:15] see.

And then, you know, here I'm eliminating some threats of harm from the picture, and the general, like, how long have you been in this? How is the kid [00:06:30] identifying, and so on. But then it really gets into the meat of what ROGD Repair is about, which is about what you need as a parent according to your own disposition.

So are you the sort of person who freezes up under stress, like the button I just pushed? [00:06:45] Are you the sort of person who doubts yourself a lot, or who obsesses over research? Again, if you're following along on video, you can see some of the sample questions. So I'm not gonna take the whole quiz, but what I'm gonna do now, [00:07:00] now that you've seen a little bit into how it explores your parenting style, is shift over to sharing my quiz results that I got.

I've taken this quiz many times, always imagining myself to be a [00:07:15] different parent. I'm going to pull up results I got from one of the times that I took this quiz imagining myself to be a particular kind of parent. You will see the email that I received. So if you're not familiar with this email [00:07:30] format, this is 'cause I use Superhuman.

But I took this quiz this time from the perspective of a parent who tends to feel guilty. This is somebody with maybe a depressive temperament, somebody maybe even slightly masochistic, somebody who [00:07:45] is hurt by the hurtful things that their kid says, and whose tendency to feel guilty, tendency to blame themselves for their shortcomings, ends up meaning that their kid can press on their boundaries.

So I took the quiz [00:08:00] from that perspective, and I got the Penitent. So I'll read the description. It says, "Somewhere in the family's history, there's a divorce, a depression, a temper, a job that took too much, a [00:08:15] thing said in anger. Your child knows exactly where that bruise is and presses it whenever leverage is needed, and you accept the whole indictment.

Every accusation contains a grain of truth, and you treat the grain as the loaf. The guilt hollows out your [00:08:30] authority from the inside. You apologize for the boundary while setting it, which teaches your child that boundaries are optional. Guilt has become the lens through which you see your own judgment, so you no longer trust your read on what your child needs.

You have to [00:08:45] hold the both/and. Yes, there were failures, and no, that does not make you wrong to care about your child's body and future." So you can see that while taking this quiz from the perspective of someone who tends to struggle with guilt, that this really nails [00:09:00] that pattern, and it shows them that, hey, yes, it's understandable that you feel guilty about your shortcomings, that that makes you human, right?

But that doesn't mean that your boundaries need to become negotiable. So then what does [00:09:15] this do for the, the parent who fits this profile? Well, it gives them an order, a direction to focus on with the lessons in ROGD Repair. So it suggests that they focus on lessons about realigning with your core values, [00:09:30] becoming less defensive, absorbing the blows through a couple different kinds of shock absorbers.

So in other words, when you do feel guilty, when there is something that you wanna apologize for, how can you frame that in a way that's honest and [00:09:45] authentic with integrity without apologizing for things that you haven't done wrong? You know, how does a parent like this who might struggle with boundaries, deal with things like projection, and how do they develop their toolkit [00:10:00] around boundaries?

How do they work on things like emotional differentiation and dealing with their kids' aggression? How do they recognize how things like Cluster B personality traits might be weaponized to manipulate their tendency towards [00:10:15] guilt? What's a good example of this kind of boundary setting looks like? And I also probably answered these questions in a way that reflected some marital discord, so this email I received is recommending lessons on [00:10:30] that.

And then it shows my runner-up archetypes. Again, I took this as an imaginary person, and some of the other things that this person struggled with were hypervigilance, so they got the Sentinel as a runner-up [00:10:45] and the Eggshell Walker as a runner-up. And you can see the lessons recommended for these archetypes about slowing down, recognizing opportunities, dealing with triangulation, adopting a [00:11:00] non-defensive posture, adopting assertive self-respect, remembering you are the adult.

And then it also picked out a few things from their situation. So the parent that I took this for, the imaginary person, is someone who's new in this. It recommended lessons for [00:11:15] someone who's new in this. It was a mother of a daughter, so it recommended female specific lessons. This person admitted to some anxiety and depression, and their kid was young, so you can see, if you're watching along on [00:11:30] video, you can see that it pulled lessons specific to those situations.

And then it also made some tips, or gave some direction for the dad and the siblings. [00:11:45] And some things addressing the triangulation. And then there's a little closing message at the bottom, and what I'm not going to show you is a coupon code that you get for taking this quiz, that'll take half off your first month of membership in [00:12:00] the program.

So there's a sample. I think there are 20-something different archetypes in this quiz, and I'm pretty happy with it. That being said, I took the quiz several times, [00:12:15] always imagining myself to be a different person, see what kind of results it gave me, and how the algorithm was weighing those results, and I did need to make some adjustments.

So if you take this quiz and you feel like [00:12:30] it didn't describe you at all or you have a, any kind of issues with the quiz, please let me know. I'm open to that feedback. I now have hello@rogdrepair.com for anything ROGD Repair related. So go ahead and email [00:12:45] me feedback about the quiz. It helps to forward me your results, and I do have access just on the back end to seeing what your answers to the questions were.

I will never sell or share your data with anybody. That information is there for me on the [00:13:00] back end so that I can continue improving my products. So please, I welcome your feedback on this quiz, as long as it's nice. I wanna make it accurate. I want people to see those results and feel like, "Wow. Yes, that's me.

I feel seen. These are the things that I need help with." [00:13:15] I want it to feel encouraging and clarifying and useful. Of course, if you're already enrolled in ROGD Repair, this quiz is free to you, too. It's, it's for everyone. It's especially for newcomers because it tells them how they might approach the program.

[00:13:30] But as, you know, even if you've been in ROGD Repair for a while, you are just welcome to go take that quiz. Now, if you are still seeing the old landing page when you go to rogdrepair.com, the fix for that is to clear your cache. [00:13:45] If you don't know how to clear your cache, you can Google that. It's pretty straightforward.

Once you've cleared your cache, refresh the page. Go to rogdrepair.com again. You should see the new landing page. That is where you will see the quiz. So [00:14:00] even if you've been in the course for a while, take the quiz. Let me know what you think. Let me know if it's helpful in identifying which lessons to focus on in your experience of the course.

All right, so now we are back on rogdrepair.com, [00:14:15] and you can see there are two menus on my site. So on stephaniewinn.com, sometherapist.com, rogdrepair.com, they all have the same menu at the top. Right now we're still on rogdrepair.com. So you can click these [00:14:30] tabs to learn about the program, to learn about me. So the site is really easy to navigate.

You can either click around the program about pricing, curriculum, enroll, or you can just scroll through and [00:14:45] you will see those same things. The curriculum here, please bear in mind you can expand it. So this shows you the titles of each lesson and module. And I just really love the new format. So please check it out and let me [00:15:00] know what you think.

Now I'm gonna show you stephaniewinn.com. As you can see, it's seamlessly integrated, so the menu bar is the same connecting all these different sites. If you go to writing, that'll take you to my Substack [00:15:15] in a new tab. And if you go to film, that will take you to No Way Back in a new tab. If you click on RepairBot, that will take you to RepairBot in a new tab.

But back to [00:15:30] stephaniewinn.com. As long as we're here, we can click on Stephanie Winn in the menu. We can click on Podcast to be taken to sometherapist.com. We can click on ROGD Repair to go back to where we just were. So [00:15:45] here we are in stephaniewinn.com and this is where you'd go to learn about my coaching practice and about me as a person in general.

Here's the about page that shows you the different things that I do, what I offer, some [00:16:00] information about my coaching practice, my frequently asked questions. And I love this. I made it really easy for clients. So now whichever part of my website you're on, clients is always in the upper right. [00:16:15] So if you're someone who already works with me and you forget where to find things, it's always right here.

You could go to stephaniewinn.com, rogdrepair.com, sometherapist.com, whichever one of my sites you're on, clients is always gonna be [00:16:30] in that upper right-hand corner of the menu bar. It takes you right here. You forgot your meeting link, join your meeting right now. It'll take you to your session. You're a current client and you're looking for your client portal, you forgot how to access the documents I've shared with you there, [00:16:45] or your schedule of appointments with me, you just click here.

It'll take you there. If you're a new client and you'd like to learn about how coaching works or apply to be a client, you can click there. If you [00:17:00] think that you're a client, but, what you actually mean is that you're enrolled in the course, it'll take you to the course. Or if you're a client, but that's what you're looking for, you're, you're working with me, you're enrolled in the course, you're like, "How do I get to the course again?"

It's right here. You forget [00:17:15] how to get to RepairBot. It's right here. So I really wanted to make this easy for people because I understand my websites have not been easy. I have a lot of different platforms that I use. I have clients who are older than me, clients who are not digital [00:17:30] natives, clients who are not as tech-savvy.

Look, I'm not judging you, okay? Sometimes people take it really personally if it's acknowledged that they're not as tech-savvy as I am. I don't mean that as an insult. You have the same amount of inherent dignity and value and [00:17:45] worth as a human being made in the image of God as anyone else on this planet.

You just might not specifically be as tech-savvy as me, and that's okay, okay? I'm a millennial. It's okay. It's okay, Gen X and Boomers. It's okay. You have different skills. I [00:18:00] respect you, okay? I just wanted to make it easier for you because sometimes you forget what the link is. You forget where to look for what.

So this should make it so much easier, whether you're a current client, whether you're interested in becoming a client. [00:18:15] The new design of my website should make it so much easier for you to find what you're looking for. Okay? So this is good news. And then finally, let's click on podcast, and that takes you to sometherapist.com, [00:18:30] which was a mess before.

All of my websites were on different platforms. Sometherapist.com was built with Squarespace, stephaniewinn.com was built with Carrd. ROGD Repair was hosted on Teachable, and I was using their drag-and-drop website builder for the intro [00:18:45] page. It was a mess, okay? But now this is all in one place. It's all the same format.

Now you click on podcast, or you go to sometherapist.com. You can find anything you wanna find about my podcast. You can find it on any platform. [00:19:00] You can find my recent conversations. what else might you be looking for? Oh, you might be looking to sign up for my Substack. You can just sign up for it right here on the bottom of any of my [00:19:15] pages.

Oh, and let's see what's in the footer. All right, the footer recaps everything, okay? So you wanna know about me, my writing, my coaching. You wanna know about the course and community, take the quiz, use RepairBot. You wanna find my [00:19:30] podcast on any platform of your choice, or you wanna find the film, you wanna find me on X, it's all there in the footer.

And let's see, what gets overlooked here? Aha, my bookshop. Okay, so this is sometherapist.com/bookshop [00:19:45], which is the same URL as my previous bookshop. Except my previous bookshop was a mess because I made it in Squarespace, and it was drag and drop, and every time I added a new book, I had to rearrange, drag and drop like 100 other [00:20:00] icons.

It was, it was a mess. So this is all custom coded now. Whenever I have a new book that I wanna add to my bookshop, all I have to do is add it to a spreadsheet, and the custom code updates [00:20:15] this page. So, this should make it much easier. These are Amazon affiliate links. I get like 50 cents if you buy a book by clicking on the link.

And the same is true if you click on a link in a show note. It's just a very [00:20:30] small way to support the show, right? You listen to an interview that I do with someone who's written a book. You decide you wanna check out their book. You click on the link either in the show notes or in the bookshop, and it'll take you to Amazon, and I get a [00:20:45] small commission as an Amazon affiliate for recommending that product.

And so now it's all so neatly laid out. So of course, books by my podcast guests are at the very top, and I love how this just [00:21:00] makes it so clear. It doesn't show the pictures of the books necessarily. Let me know if you would prefer that, 'cause my old bookshop had an image of the cover art of the book.

But this shows the title of the book, the author, [00:21:15] and what episode they were a guest on, which is pretty cool. So you can see my whole section of all the awesome people I've interviewed on this podcast and all the books they've written, and then other books that I recommend. [00:21:30] Now, this probably needs some updates because I got so tired of updating my Squarespace bookshop that I stopped updating it a while ago, which means there are probably books I have read since and books I would recommend that did [00:21:45] not make it onto this list.

But now at least I have the structure set up so that it's easy to add new books to this list. And so this is just a very easy way to support me, is just to buy a book that you genuinely wanna [00:22:00] read that I recommended. All right, so the bookshop is an underrated feature of this website. And then, if you're not already subscribed to my Substack, you can again just do that on the bottom of any of my [00:22:15] pages.

So, I am really delighted with this new website. So I've shown you stephaniewinn.com, which is where you go to learn about me, to learn about my coaching, frequently [00:22:30] asked questions, or to become a client. It's also where you go if you are a client and you've forgotten where any of your stuff is.

So for my scatterbrained clients, for my not tech-savvy clients, it's just one less thing [00:22:45] for your probably overburdened executive functioning system to have to track. You're just like, "What is it again?" Go to literally any of my websites, click Clients in the upper right, you will find your way to what you're looking for, whether it's your client portal, your appointments, your ROGD Repair [00:23:00] tools, or the form to apply to be my client.

Okay? Also, one more thing, if you are a client and you are accustomed to using my Calendly link to book your appointments, you don't need to do that anymore because now you can book your appointments directly [00:23:15] through your SimplePractice portal, which is the same place that your forms and your appointments are stored. And if you forget that link, all you do is go to my website, click on clients, click on I'm a current client, and that will take you to sign into your portal where you can see that.[00:23:30]

So that's my new website, all three or more of them, they all got a massive upgrade. Please let me know of any glitches, but clear your cache first, because if you have visited any of these [00:23:45] sites before, your computer remembers that and might be loading an old version of the page. So if you have cleared your cache and, anything is not working or anything could be improved upon, please let [00:24:00] me know.

I'm really excited for parents who are feeling overwhelmed and need some help orienting to the program. I'm excited for you guys to take the quiz. I really hope that it helps you feel seen and understood. I hope it points [00:24:15] you in the direction of the specific lessons that will apply most to your situation.

Now, that doesn't mean that the other lessons won't, and on that note, if you are in any lesson in ROGD Repair, once you're, once you're in the course, you've joined and you have [00:24:30] access to the curriculum, you can click on almost any lesson and the first section at the top says who this is for. In fact, let me know if you find a lesson that does not have the section at the top that says who this is for.

Because [00:24:45] I understand lessons can take, you know, anywhere from five minutes to an hour, to go through, and you don't necessarily want to spend that time on a lesson that applies to someone in a much different situation than yourself. So that who [00:25:00] this is for summary at the top of every single lesson should help because it'll say if this applies equally to most people, if this is more for parents of younger or older kids, more for parents who are conflict avoidant, parents of autistic kids, whatever that might [00:25:15] be. It'll give you some specificity.

So that's one way to help reduce your overwhelm in addition to taking the quiz. Because again, the quiz will tell you where to start. It won't tell you every single lesson that applies to you, 'cause that would also be overwhelming. So use the who this is for [00:25:30] sections on rogdrepair.com once you're a member.

And the other thing you can do is chat with RepairBot. And again, for that, you can go to any of my websites and click on RepairBot or just go to rogdrepair.com. That'll take you straight there. [00:25:45] And you can tell it what you're working with. Now, here's the thing I've noticed about RepairBot. I have had to work really hard to train RepairBot not to be presumptuous, because AI in general has a tendency to just jump in and fix your problems and give you long scripts [00:26:00] of information.

And what I noticed from observing RepairBot's dialogues with people is that they would share very little specifically about themselves and their family because they, they'd be using RepairBot, you know, maybe late at night when they're feeling really panicky [00:26:15] and, you know, not in their most alert, clear, present state of mind.

They were turning to it maybe in despair and from more of a passive place as well than the active, focused [00:26:30] state people are in when they come to me for coaching conversations. And so people would share very little about themselves, and RepairBot would share a lot in response, and I had to go, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, RepairBot, this is not the behavior that we're going for."

Because [00:26:45] the way I actually work in real life is I take time to get to know people. I ask them a lot of questions about themselves and their family and personalities and, you know, relational styles. I don't just go making assumptions. You know, that's like Instagram therapy that [00:27:00] it's like, you know, Jonathan Shedler and, Corey Grad, who I've been following on X lately, like talk about the sort of Instagram therapy culture.

And I see these posts on X, for example, that are like, "I told my [00:27:15] therapist," you know, insert two sentences about a thing a lot of people struggle with, "and my therapist said, 'Here's exactly what that means.'" And like I have no desire to be that kind of person. I have no desire to be the kind of person, therapist, coach, [00:27:30] podcaster, whatever, in any role, who hears a little bit of information about someone and gives them a long, definitive answer about what that means.

I like, I really want to get to know you and explore all the different things it could mean, and the more insight I [00:27:45] have into your situation, the more confidence I can speak with, which is why my coaching relationships are many hours together. My standard approach to coaching is a 10-hour package divided over eight visits, 75 minutes each.

I really need that time with people to get to know them. [00:28:00] So when I saw RepairBot being presumptuous, I, I had to pull it way back and train it to give much shorter answers and ask more questions. So that's been frustrating for some people who liked what it had to say, and maybe it was right. Maybe its guesses for [00:28:15] them were accurate, or maybe these were people who were doing the work of telling RepairBot more about themselves so that it could give accurate answers.

But it was giving those answers too quickly before it had earned the right to speak with that much confidence, and that's why I trained RepairBot to give [00:28:30] much shorter answers, to be more tentative, to ask more questions, and I understand that that has annoyed some people. So I'm sorry about that. But what I do wanna say is it will help if you share more about yourself.

So one of the things RepairBot is trying to do is to help you find the lessons [00:28:45] most applicable to your situation. So please tell it in detail about your situation. Let it interview you. Imagine that it's me. Imagine that I have a lot of questions for you. It's not me, okay? But maybe that'll help. Maybe that'll give you the patience to go through the interview process with [00:29:00] RepairBot so that it can get the information it needs in order to point you to lessons that are topical for you.

And it's not like what to do in this situation. It's not what to do when your child requests a binder. You know, people want that sort of concrete advice and it's [00:29:15] like, well, it depends on your child's personality, it depends on your relationship. My tools aren't so much situation specific as they are personality and relationship specific.

So that's why it helps to have more specificity, right? And so RepairBot [00:29:30] can help. Now the quiz can help. And there was one other thing I wanted to recommend that can help as well, which is in case you haven't heard me say this before, if you are a member of ROGD Repair and you're feeling [00:29:45] overwhelmed by the amount of information in there, is to remember that you can listen to it like a podcast on the go and then come back to the lessons that actually speak to you.

So you would download the Teachable app because ROGD Repair is hosted on Teachable. Sign [00:30:00] into your Teachable account, the account you use to access ROGD Repair, and then you have it in your pocket. And if you know from watching the videos, it's just me, it's just my face, right? Like I'm not that high tech when it comes to [00:30:15] graphics.

So, who cares about my face? Just listen to my voice. Play the videos without looking at them from your phone, in your headphones, on your car speaker. Obviously not at a place where your kid's gonna hear it, okay? [00:30:30] Don't, don't risk that. But, listen to the lessons and get through it that way. And a lot of them are not gonna resonate so much for you, and I just ask for your grace because that lesson is for someone [00:30:45] else.

It's for, you know, maybe you, you are the sort of parent that has a difficult time holding back expressing your opinions in moments where you need some restraint, and that lesson was for someone who really struggles with self-expression and needs to come forward more. So, [00:31:00] you know, be wise about it. You know, listen to all the material on the go, knowing that some of it is intended for other families.

But when you get to the lessons where you feel like, "Ah, that's me. That's my son or [00:31:15] daughter. That's my husband or wife," that's the lesson for you to circle back to. That's the one where you might wanna read the essay because, all lessons come with a transcript. Some of them also come [00:31:30] with some additional writing.

So, you know, read that part, look at the reflection questions, talk it over with your spouse. You know, share that link with them. Say, "Hey, I really think you ought to listen to this one so we can talk tonight [00:31:45] about how this fits our daughter." That would be a way to navigate the program. Oops, I misspoke and remembered later and had to come back and record this additional segment to insert here simply to say that while the vast majority of the [00:32:00] material in ROGD Repair is just my face, and you might as well just listen to it rather than watching it, there is a series within ROGD Repair that I've released this year.

It's called the Unpacked Concept Animation series, and I highly recommend [00:32:15] checking it out. So this is a series of bonus articles that I turn into animated videos using the latest technology from Gemini Notebook, which is a pretty cool tool if you haven't played around with it before. Certainly not perfect.

Some of its choices are a little bizarre at [00:32:30] times, but I do love the ability to run an article through Gemini Notebook and come up with an animated video explaining the concept. So the Unpacked Concept Animation series, new in 2026, is definitely worth checking out, [00:32:45] if you haven't checked it out already, and it is the one part of ROGD Repair where you're gonna wanna look at the screen.

They're bonus articles. I also have another section of bonus articles that don't have accompanying videos, so they're not the core curriculum. But I definitely recommend [00:33:00] checking on my most recent work because the core curriculum was developed a few years ago based on my first few years of intensive ROGD parent coaching, and I just keep learning and growing.

And so I enjoy the opportunity to continue making new content that reflects some of the nuances [00:33:15] that are continuing to develop in my understanding of this issue. All right, so I just wanted to insert this little point. The overall point stands that you can definitely get through the bulk of the material on ROGD Repair as audio only.

Now, back to the main [00:33:30] recording. So I hope that this has been helpful for anyone who's already enrolled in ROGD Repair and looking for guidance on how to make the most of the program. I hope this is also encouraging for anyone who was on the fence about joining the program, [00:33:45] but a little nervous about feeling overwhelmed because now in addition to the who this is for summaries, in addition to being able to listen on the go, in addition to being able to consult RepairBot about which lessons might apply to you, now you have this quiz, and you [00:34:00] can go to rogdrepair.com.

I think it's just rogdrepair.com/quiz if you wanna go straight to the quiz, but it should appear as a pop-up in several places on the page. And please let me know what you think. If you don't like your quiz results or you don't like how [00:34:15] something was worded, if it offends you, just be nice. Be nice to me, okay?

I'm, I'm happy to work with your feedback as long as you're not attacking me. So send me your feedback about what didn't land well, [00:34:30] and I'll revise it, and we'll go from there, and you will help me make ROGD Repair the most valuable resource that it can possibly be to families in need. All right, thank you so much for listening and for all of your support and encouragement.[00:34:45]

If you haven't already, I would really appreciate if you would take a moment to leave a rating and/or review of this podcast on your listening platform of choice as it helps other people find the show. And of course, if you are a parent who has found value in [00:35:00] the ROGD Repair program, please share it with your friends.

And now you can share the quiz with them as well. All right, thank you so much for listening and for your support. Thank you for listening to You Must Be Some Kind of Therapist.
