Awakening Adventures

In this episode of Awakening Adventures, Venus Castleberg (the Home Whisperer) sits down with Ragan Thomson—compassionate spiritual teacher, intuitive transformational healer, and world service activist—for a real conversation about the many layers of awakening. Ragan shares how her early-20s journey led her from a traditional Catholic upbringing into an open, heart-led spiritual path, including the moment she walked into Agape Spiritual Center and felt a soul-to-soul sense of belonging that changed everything. Together, Venus and Ragan explore the Dark Night of the Soul—what it can feel like when the light goes quiet, why it can be a crossroads of choice, and how to move through it with more steadiness and self-trust. They also talk about connecting with spirit teams and angels, using cards as a bridge into communication, and Ragan’s work with divine light, the Divine I AM, and planetary grid (Christ consciousness) energy. Ragan also offers a gift to listeners: three free meditations to Awaken Your Inner Light and align your soul, available at https://raganthomson.com/free-meditations/.

Welcome, Ragan. Thank you so much for being here.

Ragan Thompson:
Thank you, Venus. That was such a beautiful introduction. I’m really grateful to be here with everyone.

Venus:
Let’s start with your first spiritual awakening—what’s the earliest one you remember?

Ragan:
That’s a great question. I was actually reflecting on this recently, and what really came through was that awakening isn’t a one-time event—it’s a deepening over time.

But if I were to name what felt like the first major awakening, it happened in my early 20s. I was tired of being sick and tired—emotionally up and down, not understanding my energy. I decided to take my healing seriously and began attending Agape Spiritual Center in Los Angeles.

The very first time I walked in, I felt the energy of the community and just started sobbing. I was raised Catholic, but I didn’t want to confine myself to one religion. I wanted to experience Spirit directly, openly. At Agape, I felt love, acceptance, and soul-to-soul connection for the first time.

That led me to my first spiritual counselor. In one session, it was like a floodgate of pain released. I committed deeply to my healing—10 to 12 hours a week for about six months. Then one day, something shifted. I felt joyful, awake, alive. I felt okay being alone. Creativity exploded. It felt like I had wings.

Venus:
I love that. Awakening really does happen in so many ways. Some people have near-death experiences, some walk into a room, some watch a movie. And like you said—it’s ongoing.

One experience that often comes up along the path is the Dark Night of the Soul. That feeling of being cut off from Source, from joy, from guidance. I know you’ve experienced this. What would you say about it?

Ragan:
They can vary in intensity and length. My first one was extensive and intense. I didn’t understand what was happening. It felt like depression mixed with deep disconnection. Life felt meaningless for a time.

But that dark night actually preceded a major awakening. Since then, I’ve had several more, but they’ve been shorter. You know you’re in one because it feels like the same vibration—loneliness, silence from your guides, a feeling of being on your own.

What helped me was hearing a simple question: What do you choose? And even when I felt very little light, I chose the light. Again and again. That choice carried me through.

Venus:
That resonates so much. It really can feel like a crossroads—where support steps back so we can exercise free will. There’s no right or wrong choice, just choice.

Ragan:
Exactly. And it’s often when we realize just how supported we usually are. Even when we don’t see them, our spirit teams are there. When that support feels withdrawn, it’s noticeable—but it’s temporary.

Venus:
How do you experience your spirit team and angels?

Ragan:
I experience them through imagery, energy, and feeling. I see light beings—no faces, just presence. I feel conversation, love, and support. Meditation and prayer are where I feel them most strongly—like being held in a collective prayer circle.

Over time, I’ve realized I’m never really alone in these practices.

Venus:
Did you trust those messages right away, or did you question them?

Ragan:
I started with angel cards. That was my entry point. Drawing a card daily built trust and relationship. Over time, I realized the communication was real and consistent.

More recently, I began receiving a daily angel card via email—completely unsolicited—and it has been astonishingly accurate and supportive. It feels like a miracle showing up every morning.

Venus:
I love that. There really is no right or wrong way to receive guidance.

My spirit team tends to be funny—they keep reminding me not to take things so seriously. How does humor or tone show up for you?

Ragan:
I love humor too—I was actually an improv comedian for years. Laughter is such powerful medicine. My team tends to be more nurturing, maternal, reverent. Very loving. Very patient.

Sometimes they’re fiery—especially with Archangel Michael or Kali—but mostly they parent me gently. There’s so much acceptance.

Venus:
What gifts and abilities opened up for you as your awakening continued?

Ragan:
My work has evolved into primarily working with light and energy—channeling divine love through the heart and soul rather than the mind. I help people drop into their Divine I AM presence, into soul-level healing, away from mental processing.

I also do planetary grid work—working with Christ consciousness energy, anchoring light on the planet, and helping people clear through layers of the grid system. This work supports both individual and collective awakening.

Venus:
Can you explain what the grid is for listeners who may be new to that?

Ragan:
The Christ grid is like the auric field of the Earth—an energetic network of divine light. When we work with it, we’re reconnecting to oneness, to Source, to our eternal nature as soul.

As people move through the layers of the grid, healing occurs across chakras, DNA, bloodlines, soul contracts, and more. Ultimately, it leads to remembering—we are not separate.

Venus:
That’s beautiful. You also have a gift for our listeners.

Ragan:
Yes, I’m offering three free guided meditations to Awaken Your Inner Light and align your soul. They support soul connection, purification, balance, and joy.

Venus:
Thank you so much, Ragan. This has been a beautiful conversation.
